BoN, sounds like bullshit to me. Qantas flights Australia to South Africa go way south, sometimes passengers get to see the sea ice.
Starship should not go much south of 32 south on their way to the ocean off NW Australia.
Yes, it’s a wonderful view. Just like Haneda-Helsinki. That one goes very close to the pole.
I had fun with the Beloved. Geography and geometry are not his strong suits, and he couldn’t quite work it out. Had to explain orthodromic distance and then he got it. It’s what happens to kids brought up on Mercator.
I think it is more illustrative of Qantas than it is of SpaceX. As much to get a hostile headline about Elon as anything.
Qantas is incoherent, unscientific and woke these days. Like Boeing this is not how to successfully run an aerospace company or an airline.
deregulating barn raising fixes this
Shaiel Ben-Ephraim was mentioned yesterday as the source of a ridiculous peace proposal between hamas scum and Israel. Here is one of the bastard’s papers which shows no surprise about his anti-Israel stance:

In 2021 Penny Wong stated that Trump was “prepared to trash alliances and partnerships for personal political interest”.
I wonder how that UN job application is coming along?
Pot, Kettle.
What a slag.
Sucking up to the pro-Pali crowd and selling out Israel to keep the Muesli vote isn’t “personal political interest”?
Hypocrite doesn’t begin to describe Benny Pong.
So, Ted O’Brien has toddled off to Korea on a nuclear ‘fact-finding’ mission: “the most comprehensive international study ever undertaken by an opposition to inform Australia’s future energy policy”.
Good job; as with any biggish purchase, you should always have a first hand look at what you’re planning to buy.
However, the huuuge problem that screams out here is timing. Here we are, in the pre-election ‘phoney war’ stage, with the Coalition strapped to a roughly sketched ‘we’re gunna build some, just watch’ nuclear policy – and the responsible policy person is just now setting off on a “comprehensive international study”.
I’ve visited a couple of nuclear power stations and I’m here to tell you that O’Brien will be blown away by the shiny complexity and (BA, MEcon) glaze over at the operational physics. [And this is not a FIGJAM moment for me. I understand conventional power generation pretty well, but I was humbled by the breadth and depth of the science carried around by the operating teams.]
His key take aways will be:
This should have been baked into Coalition policy two years ago.
No wonder that the deformed midget Bowen is gloating.
Nobody ever mentions Howard’s nuclear ban.
It’s all political theatre without a mandate to reverse that.
Taking into account materiel/energy/emissions input for power generation builds (not to mention cost & footprint); only the clinically insane and/or engineering ignorant would choose anything other than HELE coal (with gas as back up). Nuclear is fine and desirable, and 100x in agreement with the implications of Roger’s comment, but in terms of the national interest and the economic well being of our citizenry – HELE coal is it.

How California eco-bureaucrats halted a Pacific Palisades fire safety project to save an endangered shrub (14 Jan)
And I strongly suspect all those poor milkvetch shrubs have now gone to the great shrubbery in the sky as a result of those environmental looneys.
it’s just a soil sterilization process. Removing all organic material.
BON, the afforementioned plant will, according to the saveplants organisation, thrive after soil disturbance including chaparral fire.
Reading the above, one could safely presume that the machinery movements in the powerline corridor would in fact have benefited the plant.
If it wasn’t that it would be something else that they were not really interested in but simply using as an excuse to stop any development and more especially, lock away access to as much countryside as possible.
Same with energy projects. Am I the only one to have noticed that they happily support everything until it shows signs of working, at which point they suddenly become environmental disasters?
I find myself in agreement with Hallward here.
I suspect the route is becoming uneconomic what with Seth Effrica being a shithole and all, or they have had other internal cock-ups causing delays.
Rather than simply say that, some PR douche has come up with the idea of blaming it all on Musk.
Not very smart.
If you read Joe Aston’s book on Qantas you’d try a lot of other options before booking a seat with these charlatans.
I am some of the way through it now.
Most of it I had read in the AFR, but I had forgotten some of it.
I don’t know who would bother with them. Certainly on international routes they are far too expensive.
I don’t know who bothers to fly with them anymore.
Boomers who still believe it is the safest airline evah?
Corporates and Pubic Serpents who like to accumulate FF points domestically for work then use them to fly internationally privately?
I heard a travel j’ism on 3AW a while back saying “how fantastic it was to board the return flight and hear an Aussie accent”.
Yeah, nah.

And I certainly wouldn’t be paying $3-$5k overs for the privilege.
It’s amazing how the same people who claim they favour QANTAS for being Australian hate every single other Australian thing that actually forms part of the culture.
There are very few direct flights to South Africa since 2020. The SYD route is very popular and alwasy full with Qantas have recently put the A380 Scarebus on this route in place of the the Dreamings machine. The Scarebus has also had problems on LAX route so Musk may be just an excuse. I don’t racall any update from Qantas on the the turn back after four hours at Christmas. That flight did seem to go much further south. Pilots probably got carried away chasing the wind and lost track of their destination!!
Well, I did try to gently warn that he may not be a good sauce.
The whole story didn’t make sense.
A week before the inauguration of a President who tells Hamarse that the hostages better be released by 20th or “all hell will break loose”, Israel basically capitulates with zero conditions placed on Hamarse.

The design had a serious flaw in that it lacked any kind of struts or braces for the wings, with Christmas insisting that they should be flexible. Control of the aircraft was meant to be achieved by wing warping to its flying surfaces.[5] Although the Chief Engineer at Continental, Vincent Burnelli, tried to institute changes, the “Christmas Bullet” was completed with the original design features intact. Construction materials were scrounged from available wood and steel stock and were not “aircraft grade”, which was also a concern to Burnelli.

I’m reminded of how, only minutes before Reagan was inaugurated in January 1981, Iran freed the American hostages after 14 months. This was after Reagan had said, in plain English, that the US does not negotiate with terrorists.

How many remain alive?

(And if you think launching a model house into orbit is silly, keep in mind the last gigantic Spaceship launch was of one (1) banana.)
Did they get a photo of it exploding in a vacuum?
I think it might’ve been a fake banana. I was watching: they had cameras on it throughout and it didn’t explode, just sort of drifted about. They had light lines to it to keep it from going too far and getting into things.

Israel deploys remote-controlled robotic guns in West Bank (2022)
One of those on a pole every 200 metres and the problem is solved.
They had that in Gaza.
No they didn’t. But yes the Hamas guys did get together a full brigade and a whole bunch of bulldozers and knocked down the wall, so perhaps something more than just automatic machine guns would be indicated. Multiple automatic rocket launchers maybe, with thermobaric warheads, just so the Gazans get the message to stay on their side.
Yes, they did. They had remote weapons on their guard towers on the Gaza wall.
Um, you did look at what the remote weapons were in the linked story?
And what I said the remote weapons should be…?
Always check the detail. Before 7/10 the IDF was careful not to pot goatherders in Palistan oops the West Bank. Which is where the automatics were installed. I doubt they will care much about such sentiments henceforth.
Nope.
A drone swarm will defeat them. Each one with a can of paint, to spray the cameras when it is shot down.

One of the more interesting concepts being floated by Blinken (presumably on behalf of the Corpse in Chief) is that UN international forces may be required in Gaza to guarantee peace and security – particularly during rebuilding and the orderly transition to, well, something else.
Hundreds of fresh new hostages – and super powerful human shields.
UN forces who, as in Lebanon, will turn a blind eye to breaches of the agreement by Israel’s enemies.
More to the point, a poison pill for Trump who may not have wanted to send troops.

Sure, and even the proposal indicates that there will be issues relevant to phases 2 and 3 that will need to be determined during phase 1. However, I was being roasted yesterday and today for mentioning a deal using a persona non grata.

Say it isn’t so.
No way to dress this up.
The first stage of the Hamas-Israel deal does sound almost doable.
Hamas is supposed to release 30 hostages over a period of a 42 days ceasefire. Israel releases captive Palis, who seem mainly to be women and children, although with a fair number of lifers (who will be immediate targets once hostilities resume…ie death sentence instead of having to feed them in jail for the rest of their miserable lives.) Marwan Barghouti won’t be one of those to be released, that was a deal killer on the Israeli side.
The first stage also maintains Israeli control of the Philadelphi Corridor. Israel will never give up control of it for obvious strategic reasons.
So we’ll see. The IDF could do with a rest for a month and a half. But from what I see of the second stage of the deal it is a non starter. But since that is supposed to be negotiated only after the 1st stage is active it doesn’t really matter if those negotiations are successful or not.
No, it wasn’t because he was merely talking about a deal that was already being discussed all over the net. You would have known this if rather than putting ‘Shaiel Ben-Ephraim’ in Google search you put ‘Gaza ceasefire deal’.
The problem is if someone as rabid as SBE puts something on his twitter feed he is doing so for a reason.
That is why I like to check out these people, to know where they are coming from. Their motivations are more important than what they say, and often what they say is distorted or worse. Like what he claimed about Philadelphi, which was mendacious rubbish.
(Edit: Ok maybe that was from the other one you quoted, who I also looked up and who was just as rabid. I can’t remember which of them claimed that the Israelis would give up Philadelphi, and I can’t be bothered going back to the original comments. I immediately called bullshit. And in the news today I am vindicated. The important thing is to save us all a lot of time please choose sources who aren’t obvious lefty nutters.)
I couldn’t be bothered spending 5 mins finding someone else talking about the ceasefire deal with some detail that would satisfy your delicate sensibilities. Next time I may add a trigger warning though.

I’m sensing a pattern here.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting…
A man has died after being pulled from the water at a beach on the state’s Central Coast.
Emergency services were called following reports that a 73-year-old man was pulled from the surf unconscious at Cabbage Tree Bay Beach, Norah
His death marks the 55th drowning in Australia during the 2024-25 summer period since December 1, according to the Royal Life Saving Summer Drowning Toll.
55 dead from drowning. All tragic deaths. All entirely avoidable deaths.
I ask, who swims in the ocean at night time? Those of us who grew up in the Oz of old were always taught never to swim in the ocean at night. I have only ever swum once in the ocean at night time, in 1985, on Rottnest Island, a group of us were drunk and we all stripped off naked and went for a swim. I remember how we laughed and laughed and laughed. I also remember it was f*cking freezing.
A lot of them are new Australians from what I’ve seen, often from the subcontinent. The parents will understandably try to rescue a kid who is in trouble and they drown too. It’s sad.
The swimming lessons we all had in schools were an unsung marvel. We were taught awesome stuff (I got as far as doing some of the surf Bronze Medallion but we moved to an inland town before I could complete it.)
It would be a very good thing if our governments developed, promoted and rolled out a free swimming course for new Australians. Many lives would be saved.
I swim in Merewether Baths every morning at dawn,Bruce, but when we were young we used to skinny dip with a skin full after a big night out at the Beach Hotel.
We all learned to swim there on Saturday mornings; the ladies of the Merewether Ladies Swimming Club conducted free classes.
Nobody would ever go into the surf at night, however one of our friends committed suicide off the back of the baths that way some years ago.
No chance of free classes in these days of regulation and litigation, but.
Government-provided lessons? Would be a pointless non-job creating enterprise. No one would be a better swimmer, but guarantee the Karens would find a way to make the useless things compulsory to access some freedom or other.

But that is not as important as the return of live hostages.

Netanyahu isn’t that stupid.
That is why this touted “deal” was so laughably lacking in any credibility.

Even Newsmax is now reporting it.
Except none of those reports talk about the total Israeli capitulation postulated by the ex-UCLA Nazi.
Don’t be mean, Sancho. He’s still edging.
Israel is, rightly so, desperate to get those hostages back. The reported deal requires, as it has in deals in the past, large numbers of Palestinian insurgents released from imprisonment. But I doubt if there will be any concessions in relation to future security for Israelis.

Pete Hegseth: “I support Israel destroying every

and so say all of us
More Pete, via Ace:
I think I like him.
Golly.
This really sounds like the incoming regime in DC giving Netanyahu a clip over the ears.
Not.
Being pedantically corrective its “a clip under the ear”:)
That is the real impact of a clip over the ear.
Youse will both get a clip in the aural region if youse keep this up.
No, no, no. All the hostages not just some

what the hell – multitude of swear words $&4*@++++
Yes, there are over one hundred hostages still being held. Dead and alive. NO ceasefire or deals until every last one of them is returned.
“All of them or we slaughter every last bastard terrorist we’ve captured and bury them in a swimming pool of pigs blood, then start dropping single shot ‘Liberator Pistols‘ at night over civilian areas”.
Pete Hegseth: “I support Israel destroying every last member of Hamas.”
Can I marry this man?
I feel your womanly pain, Cassie.
Progressive Western women cry out for feminist “freedom”, but are revolted by men whose old-fashioned instinct is to protect their womenfolk.
So the feminists gravitate to and protect the muslim barbarians who want to dominate, subjugate and violate women.
Weird old world.
Hate to say it Tom. I think you’re analysis is a little skewed. I’m an xx and I’d feel the same way about about Thatcher. (Mind you Hegseth is rather spunky). Just need strong competent, rational leadership. Not back sliders. Nothing to do with gender.
You need to be careful, Cassie. That was an answer dripping with ambiguity. Choose well. 🙂

The UK’s anti-corruption minister, Tulip Siddiq, has resigned after being charged with corruption offences by Bangladesh authorities.
Just last week she had Keir Starmer’s full support.
You just get the feeling that the wheel-nuts on the Keir bandwagon are starting to rattle a bit.
Can’t be long before the band abandons the wagon.
Still, he retains Albo’s full support, which must be comforting at times like this.

But politics has a lot to do with perceptions.

Someone mentioned that payouts from the “insurer of last resort” in California are capped at $3 meg.
I saw an overhead shot of Pacific Palisades showing maybe 70-80 lots.
A lot of them had values tagged in the graphic (presumably last sale price). Most were over $5 meg, and I can’t recall one under $4 meg.
That’s some big haircuts coming up.
They still have the land, so that will reduce the rebuild a little. Though why anyone would want to live in that hell-hole is a worry.
Always hold on to freehold land. They want you in strata title, where you actually own nothing, and are subject to an owners’ corporation.
He did put it rather strongly but when you compare the substance rather than the style with what is reported elsewhere they reports cohere. The only question, if the deal goes through, is whether we ever get to phases 2 or 3.

Marjorie Tyrell for mine, for hotness.

Ah, Lena Headey. Noice. Not her body in the walk of shame, however; her face digitally supered over a body model. And not quite so … attractive … in “Dredd”. But I sure do like her.

“Sometimes before we can usher in the new, the old need to be put to rest”.
Cool line from GoT as Grand Maester Pycelle meets his grisly end.
And it’s such a leftest, statist view.
Build a new system.
Let it flourish.
If it’s good enough, it will replace the old system.
Or as it is in many cases, the new system and an old system can co-exist with different users/consumers.
The problem is the leftist, statist view is they won’t let the consumer decide.
They think they know better and they force or coerce usage of the system they think best.
It really is a mental illness.
Let’s go to the tape:-
Really. No security zone?
Bzzt.
Have they? Really?
Oh. So he just made that up.
I don’t think so.
Again. Where is he getting “symbolic security measures” from?
(Making it up because it suits his anti-Semitic narrative).
If others were more accurate and balanced in their assessment, why pick this dickhead to link to?
This is the draft proposal. Points match report at AP. Pretty much checks out on the points you’ve queried above, I.e. re your first point, see pt 10.
If others were more accurate and balanced in their assessment, why pick this dickhead to link to?
My current view that this and the million other people tweeting about a deal don’t really know.
They are just taking a punt on a deal being down by Trump and they are guessing everything in between.
So if/when a deal gets down, they can say “see, called it”.
Look at how zero, absolutely zero middle east “experts” saw Turkey’s move on Syria.
For such an important piece of the world, there seems to be a lack of genuine insight making it’s way into any part of the media (legacy media or real).
It may be that some of the wishful thinking is about the “peace deal” being initiated and concluded by the outgoing administration rather than the new.
This is also a prestige thing for the true believers.

Apologies to the small minority of lone wolf actual engineers.
I think one aspect that is not being referenced enough with Israel etc is the current cleanse of Hamas & anyone suspected of being Iranian linked in the West Bank.
After reading a note the other day on this I went down a few rabbit holes on it.
If you google Jenin and a few other key words you’ll see mentions of the Palestinian Authority throwing some stick about.
It looks to be more than that.
Unlike Gaza which is 99% Hamas controlled, there are multiple groups in the West Bank.
Who really knows what’s happening.
Time will tell.
But when I see “experts” touting that Hamas will have a roll to play during the Trump era, I’m down weighting those opinions.
In trading terms I’d be short Hamas, long some newer version of Fatah.

Cats, this storm is truly biblical – just copped the most deafening thunderstrike …
Midnight at the beginning of 1980 was living in Elizabeth Bay, as a storm went around Rushcutters, Potts Point and Kings Cross. The noise was unbelievable, lightning so close. We were in the middle.
Rabz,
the storm is also raging in my neck of the woods. The power went out half an hour ago.
Emergency generator kicked in. Power comes on in under ten seconds. So bloody grateful I bought generator.
The five cats are lying quietly around my chair as the lightning flashes and the thunder growls. Husband is sleeping through it all.

The US censors were already working with the Europeans to checkmate US tech platforms so they have no choice but to censor. With Trump coming into office, they will double, triple, infinity-tuple down on this.
The US Congress, and the new US State Dept, must step in to stop it.

The free speech fight is just getting started
And just to be clear, there’s a difference between truce, piece meal hostage deals etc and a lasting framework.
That framework is reliant on Saudi money & reconstruction.
Jared Kushner on that podcast I shared a few weeks back said he thinks that deal can be back on track and finalised pretty quickly.
That money will have zero Hamas, zero Iran links strings attached.
Israel is methodically turning Gaza into rubble. That will continue. The equation is this: if Gazan Palis have nothing they can do nothing. It’s hard to manufacture rockets in a tent.
If hypocritical Saudi money and zakat cannot get to Hamas they can’t buy explodey stuff with it, so I suspect Gaza will be walled off from finance of any kind.
If Albo thinks the punters of Sydney will view these never ending train strikes as a state issue and not punish him this year, he is even more retarded than he looks.
Yep. Never thought much of the State v Commonwealth distinction. A little cute for mine. The average voter does not deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Which will be a problem in WA with the State election being a near complete overlap with the Feds. Not sure how it has happened, I don’t recall it being a problem in the past.
If you can’t tell the difference between State and Federal issues, and vote accordingly, you are too thick to be allowed to cast your ballot..
I don’t think people fail to distinguish between the two, it’s just that most voters are keen to punish whoever they dislike. It doesn’t matter if they are voting State or Federal, the average punter just wants revenge against anyone associated with the ne’er-do-wells in power.
That’s not how it works. If you know your own name you can vote.
A question for those here, who are medically trained or well informed amateurs.
We have a conundrum regarding my fathers diagnosis, he is 83 and about 6 months ago lost his strength, never been in hospital before unless you count a broken leg when in the army.
He is using private doctors as well as public hospitals and our problem is the conflicting diags. 3 different ultrasound heart examinations by both private and public sources offer different results.
One specialist is convinced his valve is slightly calcified but not dangerous, others say it is the problem.
Two insist on arterial problems, one on heart valve.
He had a test yesterday involving some sort of a dye ax-ray and a catheter shoved up to his heart to check his arteries.
They found them fit for a forty year old.
His arm is now swollen and painful, they said it takes a week to get back to normal and there is a risk of infection.
Following question, at his age is it realistic to have an open heart surgery, when he can live comfortably with limited abilities?
I am asking this because there are too many things the medics don’t spell out, only hint on as a possibility.
PS. his lungs and other organs check out A OK, he took good care of his body by drinking good red wine and eating healthy beef and vegs
Thanks
At age 83 be aware that medical delirium is a very significant risk post surgery.
It is not good, believe me.
Linky.
Happened to us in my family, it’s incredibly bad. All the movies about amnesia are wrong. The problem with memory loss is you don’t remember you have memory loss.
I defer to medical Cats who know a great deal more than I. However having experienced the effect of delirium in my family I do not wish it on anyone.
Hypoxic Delirium….
I went septic from a gall bladder infection and was in ICU somewhere in Brisbane. O2 levels were in the shitter. Really, I should have been intubated/ventilated.
A couple of the nurses on night duty were speaking in an Asian language.
Convinced I’d been kidnapped by the Norks, I was trying to tear my bedsheets and tie them into a rope to climb out the window – 5 stories up.
Thank Christ I had no strength to a tear the sheets and pull out the Central line I had in. But I was aware the bloke in the room next door was Harold Holt, and I was in a Nork submarine.
Hypoxia and post operative delirium are real and to the sufferer, they are really real.
Sheesh Winston that’s got Total Recall vibes about it. Cheap holiday memory implant???
The less intervention the better. Do nothing till symptoms manifest themselves a bit more. You didn’t say why he started seeing heart docs.
He has suddenly lost strength, he can’t walk as much as he used to, can’t climb more than a flight of stairs without getting out of breath carrying stuff from shops and such. Getting pressure in chest, not severe angina yet etc. Otherwise if staying calm and sedentary he is OK.
That was me, except mine was coronary arteries blocked. The delirium experienced is by far the worst thing ever. I’ve never been terrified before.
me amateur.
If the angiogram says vessels are good, then they probably are.
Which leaves the valve issue. Now was the angiogram done through the upper thigh or the neck? Duzzenmatter.
The arm being swollen and painful makes me wonder whether they knocked a clot off one of the valves or somewhere else and it’s lodged in the arm.
I’ve had about 6 angiograms and never had a reaction like that.
My angiogram went through the wrist and they warned me of it swelling up with pain. The ultrasound of the heart valves I could see as he did it. Clear as can be.
Meh.
Slight bruise – but I put an ice pack on it as soon as I got into recovery.

FORMER CONSERVATIVE MP CALLS OUT PEDOPHILIA IN THE UK PARLIAMENT: “THEY ARE KNOWN NAMES”
Andrew Bridgen says there is something wrong in our Parliament, when he is attacking a Labour MP who he believes is a Pedophile and he is getting flak from his own party. He says Pedophilia has been rampant in Leicester and he has passed details of people who are engaged in child trafficking into the UK, names of all of them to the UK Government and no one wants to act.
This information has been sent to MI5 and the National Crime Agency and no one will act. They are covering it up. He says when you see the names, you see why they will not act, they are known names.
Send them to Wikileaks.

The internet is brutal…
Zulu, problem is the Federal governments keep dabbling around in things which they have no responsibility in- like agriculture, electricity, education and health- and the states keep whingeing about things beyond their ken, like Treaty Humbugging and a spaghetti bowl of evermore tangled taxes.
I’m just seeing any Treaty, signed by the States with their own citizens, as leading to a legal dogfight of monumental proportions – is any such treaty valid? – and, will someone having an Aboriginal great grandmother – or even claiming to have an Aboriginal great grand mother, be entitled to the compensation and reparations ant treaty will demand?
I did see talk in the months leading up talking about Turkey pressing Syria for a deal re Kurds/ refugees. Talk of the impending failure of the repproachment between Qatar and Syria. And so on. I think the Duran may have mentioned this.

SCOTT JENNINGS: Pete Hegseth kicked the Democrats’ a*ses today. It wasn’t even close. They didn’t land a glove. No mistakes, calm, cool, collected. The Democrats behaved in such a bizarre and unprofessional way. I was appalled. Tim Kaine sounded like a s*x pervert. Blumenthal – who lied about his service – questioned Hegseth’s qualifications. They all went on unhinged rants. On and on and on. They made him look good today.
Lead story at the Daily Mail
The Australian government has been slammed for sticking an ‘Acknowledgement of Autistic people’ straight after an ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ in an official document.
Federal social services minister Amanda Rishworth launched Australia’s first-ever ‘National Autism Strategy’ on Tuesday, which is aimed at improving the lives of those with autism.
The seven-year plan, for which the government has pledged more than $42million in funding, seeks to create a ‘safe and inclusive society where all Autistic people are supported and empowered to thrive in all aspects of life’.
But eagle-eyed readers of the 76-page document were left scratching their heads by an an unusual ‘acknowledgment’ inserted straight after the now familiar ‘Acknowledgement to Country’.
‘Acknowledgement of Autistic people and their families and carers and the autism community,’ it states in the same font, followed by two sentences paying tribute to Australia’s autism community.

Looking forward to the hostages being returned on 20th or Gaza being glassed.
Look, I’m okay with this.
On the condition that it’s followed by:
Acknowledgment of people with cerebral palsy and their families and carers and the cerebral palsy community.
Acknowledgment of people with spina bifida and their families and carers and the spina bifida community.
Acknowledgment of people with morbidly obese people and their families and carers and the fat bastard community.
Acknowledgment of people who are mildly depressed because their lives haven’t turned out the way they wanted and their families and carers and the disappointed community.
Acknowledgment of amputees and their families and carers and the amputee community.
Acknowledgment of people with MND and their families and carers and the MND community.
Acknowledgment of people with any type of cancer and their families and carers and the cancer community.
Acknowledgment of deaf people and their families and carers and the people who need sign language interpreters at press conferences community.
Acknowledgment of people with head colds and their families and carers and the head cold community.
Acknowledgment of left handed people and their families and carers and the left handed community.
Acknowledgment of rangas and their families and carers and the ranga community.
If it’s not followed by all these things then it’s another pointless exercise in frippery.
Acknowledgement of “right handers” who shoot left handed.

I had the privilege, of working with one of the “Ten Pound Poms” who was in the British Army unit, who liberated one of the more notorious Nazi Death camps.
Each year, on the anniversary of that liberation, he would go out, and drink himself out of his wife’s favor, and have a “sickie” next day, to get over his hangover.
His boss, also an expat Pom, made sure he got a days pay, that didn’t show on his record….
