Which one? Plenty of competition for airhead in Vic Net’s recent past & present.

Got family in Euroa electorate.

Webster studied sociology and history at La Trobe University, followed by a Bachelor of Social Work with honours.[4] She also holds a diploma of Associate in Music, Australia. She taught music for a number of years, as well as worked as a professional seamstress and image consultant.[2] In 2018, she completed a Ph.D. at the Australian National University (ANU) with a doctoral thesis on adoption titled “The Legacy, Legality and Legitimacy of Adopting Out – Examining the legitimacy of adoption through birth mother experiences”.

More than one in four public servants at the Home Affairs Department go into the office just one or two days a week, with the ยญCoalition accusing the Albanese government of giving public servants a โ€œblank cheque not to be in the officeโ€.
Figures compiled by The Australian show that as the country approaches five years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic โ€“ which ushered in the working from home revolution โ€“ parts of the public service still suffer from low office attendance rates.
By the end of October 2024, 4475 of Home Affairsโ€™ 16,359 employees โ€“ or 27.4 per cent โ€“ had ยญarrangements to work from home three or more days a week, the department said in response to a question on notice from the last round of Senate estimates.
In Services Australia, 22 per cent โ€“ or 7248 of its 32,947 employees โ€“ had arrangements to work from home three or more days a week. That figure was 20.3 per cent in the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

We are in for a drenching over the weekend. 250mm up and likely up.

Flood warning for all rivers between Ayr & Cardwell.

Coral sea lives up to having the most erratic cyclone/tropical low paths on the planet. Low heading away from coast has yo yo’ed back at coast.

Waiting for the cut roads & empty supermarket shelves as per wet seasons of old. Bruce hwy & other feeder roads to the north already in a poor state. This may be the straw to break the back, like with Daintree after Cyclone Jasper.

Snow noticed that literary intellectuals were gaining influence in politics. This worried him. It is dangerous, he warned, when policy is increasingly made by people with an interest in the classics but not in the natural sciences, a discipline that had arguably given people richer and healthier lives.

The reactionary turn against nuclear power – spiked

So we now have BAs determining energy policy and look at the result.

Not so much the classics now of course- more wimmin’s studies and other cultural marxist poison.

Dim Chambers has apologised for remarks made Thursday that implied the Jewish communityโ€™s fears over anti-Semitic attacks were sometimes โ€œunfoundedโ€

To be fair to dimbo, the double negative clearly tripped him up. A classic example of what happens when stupid people try to sound intelligent.

For example, he could simply have stated that the Jewish communityโ€™s fears over anti-Semitic attacks were entirely understandable (or even entirely legitimate).

But that might have made it even more obvious just how pathetic various (labore) governments’ non responses to these outrages have been. As James McPherson is stating on Blot at the minute, “They’re dancing around the issue, instead of getting to the nub of it”.

Tonight I went to Ro Knox’s campaign launch for the electorate of Wentworth. Knox is the Liberal candidate and she is a very impressive one at that. There were hundreds of people at the launch, and many many Jews. It was a very impressive launch and the feeling is we can take back Wentworth!

I was only dropped home about forty minutes ago, I felt very happy, elated and optimistic that the Liberals can reclaim Wentworth but this happiness and elation has now soured, morphed into despair and fury, because after feeding my nutcase Burmese cat I turned on Sharri to hear that two of the targets were The Great Synagogue (where I have strong ties and a synagogue I often attend) and the Sydney Jewish Museum.

I cannot tell you how distressed I am. I’m glad my grandparents aren’t here and I’m very glad my mother is no longer here to witness this.

Good on Sharri and News Corp for revealing this information, information deliberately withheld by the Slug, Pretty Boy, the Hogarthian gin hag and the rest of the motley crew.

We live in disgraceful times, and we live in a now disgraceful country.

Another one.

Fire crews battling factory fire in Melbourne (Sky News, 30 Jan)

Firefighters are battling a major factory fire in Melbourne’s southeast.

Authorities were made aware of the fire at around 8.30am this Thursday morning.

It’s understood the triple zero caller reported lithium batteries had caught fire.

The things are a menace.

MatrixTransform
January 30, 2025 11:38 pm

this morning they were saying on the news that it was a lithium ion battery factory

but it wasn’t

it was an off-road camping style place that sold batteries and solar panels for 4WD types

MTBF and stuff says that spontaneous self destruction is statistically rare

like, there’s a statistically low chance of your particular battery self destructing

but if you have shelves full of them

or say a multistorey carpark attached to your prestigious hi-rise

… then I don’t like your survival chances so much

Now, as already I’ve speculated, the druggies didn’t come up with all this off their own bat.

That’s the nut that plod (inc. ASIO & the AFP), is trying to crack as we speak – the operation the Tele has “put at risk”, as Nanna Webb put it. But you’d expect that after 10 days with 100 personnel dedicated to the task they’d have some solid leads that wouldn’t be fatally compromised by the newspaper revelations.

Not that Australia has an extradition treaty with Lebanon, if that’s where those leads point. Handy, that.

Listening at the ATC recording (can’t link) from the DC prang it looks like AA flight was given a late runway change.
Planned on 01, allotted 33.
They took a little while to respond.
There was reference to the wind being 320 17G25 (wind from 320 degrees, 17 knots, gusting to 25).
This doesn’t seem to be cause for a runway change. Runway 33 (aligned 330 degrees) would put the wind pretty much on the nose. Yes, runway 01 (facing 10 degrees) would put the wind at 50 degrees off the nose to the left, but I wouldn’t think 17-25 kts would present too much of a crosswind problem. (Crosswind component of 25 kt gust would be about 19 kts. Annoying but not a limiting factor requiring a runway change).
01 is a fair bit longer (7169 ft) and has ILS, whereas 33 is about 5200 feet with RNAV (GPS), but of itself that wouldn’t be an issue.
So, different landing protocol dropped 4 minutes prior to prang. I can imagine that caused a bit of a flurry aboard AA. Time is money, so they would also be looking at amended ground movements to get to their gate and shut down.
What is really weird is that it seems that ATC advises the Blackhawk (PAT25) that traffic is the CRJ at 1200′ turning (left) for runway 33.
PAT25 acknowledges traffic in sight and requests visual separation (that is, the helo pilot affirms that he has positively sighted the traffic and wants to manage separation visually himself).
As AA executes the quite shallow turn onto short final the helo just ploughs straight into him.
They were on almost opposing (but slightly offset tracks) until that last turn was commenced, and AA would have been lit up like a Christmas tree, particularly with landing lights on.
WTF?

Agree, and me never being one to mince words, I’ve told various rabbis and Alex Rychvin to their faces what I think of da Pretty Boy premier of NSW.

I’m streaming Kenny from earlier tonight. Kenny nails beautifully Pretty Boy Minns, as he said tonight, after the scandalous events on 9 October 2023….

‘the Albanese Labor government and the Minns Labor government stood back, watched, wrung their hands and did nothing. They hoped if they just waited it would all go away…..fools, irresponsible fools, that’s why we’re in this situation today.’

Kaboom Kenny!

I’ve called out Pretty Boy from day one. He talks pretty words but that’s it. Memo to Pretty Boy, time for some pretty action…..NOW. But he can’t, because Pretty Boy is just the Pretty Face of a hard left putrid Labor government. That’s how they won the election in March 2023.

Minns is a fraud.

Just watched the Blancolirio vid posted by Tickler earlier.
On his analysis of the tracks of the two aircraft he says the helo (PAT25) wouldn’t have been able to see the landing lights of the passenger aircraft (JIA5342).
This may be true at the point of impact, but I reckon PAT25 would have been able to see the landing lights of 5342 as it commenced it’s turn.
In any case, apart from landing lights, PAT25 should have been able to see the navigation lights of 5342, and these navigation lights are installed so you can tell if the aircraft is flying away from you or towards you.
The key point Blancolirio raises is the same as what I heard:-
ATC advised PAT25 that he “had traffic” (in the form of 5342) advising the altitude of 5342 (1200′) and it’s destination (runway 33).
PAT25 says he has the traffic in sight and requests permission to avoid it visually.
ATC grants this request.
PAT25 then ploughs straight into 5342.
One thing which is beaten into student pilots from day 1 is never, ever, EVER, guess on traffic.
If you can’t positively identify the conflicting traffic you say so.
The problem there is that ATC will then take control and give you clear directions to avoid a collision.
Picking up Tom’s point about potential cowboys.
PAT stands for Priority Air Transport and Blancolirio talks about “gold top” Blackhawks. I take it that this is some sort of second tier VIP transport.
It is possible that these guys saw themselves as a little bit above the ATC system and the reflex response to an advisory on traffic was to say “sighted, request visual separation” to avoid being sent via the Cape by ATC.

I think the big shortโ€”or the big shorters during the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), as portrayed in the movieโ€”were shorting mortgage-backed securities for the wrong reasons.
While they were correct in believing that credit analysis may had gone awry, the actual causes of the crisis were different.
In hindsight, there should have been a short-term recession caused by financial institutions writing off bad debt. However, it was the Federal Reserve that escalated the situation into a full-blown crisis. The Fed’s monetary policy was too tight, and it remained so for too long because of a misreading of the macroeconomic environment.
At the time, the developing world (e.g., China) was experiencing rapid economic growth, leading to a demand shock for commodities. The spike in commodity prices wasnโ€™t truly inflationary; it was a signal for increased supply. However, the Fed and the European Central Bank (ECB) interpreted it as inflationary and slammed on the brakes. They kept monetary policy tight even as Lehman Brothers collapsed.
It was only after the Lehman collapse that monetary policy was eased. By then, the damage was done. Tight monetary policy during the mortgage crisis and its immediate aftermath made the situation worse. Key financial signals, particularly the collapse in nominal GDP, were ignored until it was too late.

Look, at any one time there are people who are on the other side of a trade. Take for example the stock of a large US bank. At any one time there would be at least around 2% of a bank’s outstanding shares that are being shorted by guys who think the stock is heading lower. Imagine say if JPMorgan was rumored to fail this evening. Those shorts would look like masters of the universe.

I saw this response to a bit of TDS on Soshul Meeja.
A very neat little summary of the bullshit served up over the years:-

Now, to be sure . . .

you believed the “news media” who reported 24/7 “Trump Russia Collusion” . . .

. . . and that no one knows where the Cocaine that they found in the White House came from.

. . . and Donald Trump should have had cognitive functions test, but “Stumbles & Mumbles” Biden doesn’t need to.

. . . and Andrew Cuomo is a Fabulous, let’s give him an Emmy, kind of guy.

. . . and all the Artic Polar Ice will be gone by 2014.

. . . and Hunter’s art is worth half a million . . .

. . . and EVs don’t lose any range in the cold. . .

. . . and that “walls don’t work.”

. . . and that January 6th was a violent, deadly, armed insurrection orchestrated by Donald Trump to overthrow America.

. . . And that New York was going to be under water by 2021

. . . and that men can get pregnant

. . . and really expensive EV tires last a long time instead of the 10k miles that is the truth.

. . . and that Trump “colluded” with Russia before the 2020 election

. . . That a smiling Catholic School boy is the face of racism in America

. . . that Michael Brown was a “gentle giant.”

. . . and who thought Porn Star Lawyer Michael Avenatti would make a great president.

. . . that all the glaciers in Glacier Nation Park will be melted by 2020

. . . and that the Hunter laptop story was Russian misinformation filtered through Rudy Giuliani . . .

. . . and that by 1996 the Platte River of Nebraska ‘would be dry, while a continent-wide black blizzard of prairie topsoil will stop traffic on interstates.

. . . and Barrack Obama deserves a Nobel Peace Prize but Mahatma Gandhi did not.

. . . and we should listen to a histrionic, and quite probably, emotionally disturbed Scandinavian teenage girl to explain complex scientific topics like climate.

. . . and that Joe Biden is brilliant, intellectually sharp a a nail

. . . and that a Nobel laureate in Physics isn’t a real scientist because he correctly calls climate alarmism “pseudoscience.”

. . . and that EVs are very cost effective and we need not worry about the billions of dollars of subsidies it takes to keep them even marginally competitive with real cars.

. . now see, I would think that crazy would be being all ready to vote for mumbles and stumbles Biden because they believed the Democrats and the media when they said things like:

“The most difficult part about a meeting with President Biden is preparing for it because he is sharp, intensely probing, and detail-oriented, and focused,”

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas

MSNBCโ€™s โ€œMorning Joeโ€ has reported that foreign leaders fear negotiating with Biden because of Bidenโ€™s superior intellect.

Then forgot about all those lies the media told us after they tossed Biden, and now suck up more lies from the same people telling us how wonderful Kamala is (and how terrible Trump is) and how peaceful pro life protestors were really violent.

Doesn’t that seem crazy to you? Continuing to believe the people who lied to you for years? I mean that’s crazy.

You’ve only just scratched the surface. How do you measure the amount of craziness. Is there a scale. How many hold my beer moments are we going to have from the left. The right trying to get in on the act are only to the right of the left, still following them down the same rabbit holes. The US has a chance of getting out of the mess that both sides of government created. If they don’t the world falls.

Seeing as Swamp Hollywood in neck deep in rewriting history, I suppose it shouldn’t surprise me that Hollywood is rewriting Hollywood.
Which is a damn shame, because I’ve got no doubt that my skepticism of the state and tech adventurism has been primed by US SF films such as Resident Evil.

Peter Leahy has an article, in the Oz, about attracting recruits for the A.D.F. Any military type Cats heard of this one?

A colleague enquired about re-enlisting in the infantry after a spotless first term of service and a few years out. He was told by the civilian recruiter he would need to write a three page essay as to why he should be allowed back into the army.

As to the latter, Bruce and I already worked the cheat out the day before Sancho and yourself performed the prank.

You mean someone else worked it out for you. The instructions sent to me on Discord and that I posted twice were pretty easy to follow. It was BoN who basically told you the hack works. And don’t make accusations you can’t support. I saw the commentary going on and I participated. If we’re in accusation mode then let me make one myself. Not only did you know the cheat goes on, you most likely participate in it.

Good on him, but the cope here is refusing to admit they have actually done something significant, learning from it, and then fishing for a range of excuses as to how they did it.

The “cope” is that it upsets your AADS. If you read it or even bothered to find a link to his stack, you would’ve found that he wasn’t in any defensive posture but just doing an analysis like he’s been doing for quite a while in measuring artificial intelligence with IQ type testing.
Your bias is appalling. I posted commentary from X about how potentially helpful the Chinese bot could be to Tesla and your response to me was it surprised you how could I have posted something complementary toward it. Some people have open minds I guess. You should try it some time.

You made a boo by thinking โ€˜locallyโ€™ meant simply accessing the web version of DeepSeek in Australia as opposed to downloading the LLM and running it on your own PC, and you did this in the same comment in which you accused me of not knowing what I was talking about.

Actually, I was very specific in what I did. I went to the DeepSix website asked one question and then another while comparing the second to what I get from Chat. It showed that the website version is deeply censored. How that could be considered a “boo” is kind of funny, but you do.

Went to bed at midnight, it’s now gone 1am, and just as I was drifting off to sleep around one, that police helicopter comes up our street and wakes me up again.

Have to get used to it I guess, and also stop NDIA ‘to do list’ stuff on my mind from keeping me from ignoring extraneous and unusual noise in these quiet parts and falling asleep.

I’m thus reflecting how so much of life is simply a battle for existence that never used to be like this. Equipment break-downs (oven’s out), electrical faults requiring electrician, roof leaks in same old spots needing a better roofer. One bright spot – the sink blockage requiring plumber while we were away has been fixed and suddenly the relatively new Miele dishwasher has got over its hissy fit and is working perfectly. It probably had a sensor on the blockage. So we don’t need a new dishwasher as the repairman said we would. So much for repairmen.

My wireless printer has suddenly stopped working, which doesn’t help, and the scanner on this new machine doesn’t want to cooperate either, meaning that I can’t scan forms back to these bureaucrats. They lose the forms if I snail mail them. Best to sort out the printer first as a priority, which Hairy may not quite see it as but would be annoyed if I called a geek ‘repairman’ in to do it. He’s sleeping the sleep of the just right now, btw.

Or get some sleep myself maybe?

Just checking in for a whinge with other insomniac Cats and Kittehs.

Life’s worse in India. That’s always worth bearing in mind.

I saw that. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

For years they tried to put lipstick on the pigs of Michelle Obama and Dr Jill – neither of whom are remotely as beautiful and stylish as Melania. In fact, they both seemed to prefer being dressed in curtain or upholstery material.

Her latest look is 30’s gangster chic. She’s coming after them, and they don’t like it a bit.

Go, Melania!

The haters of Cardinal Pell are now pissing on his grave. Louse Milligan is triumphant as she writes:

Two men have been granted compensation by the federal government’s National Redress Scheme for abuse by the late Cardinal George Pell, including one whom the scheme accepted was raped by Pell when he the Cardinal was a young priest in Ballarat in the 1970s.

The boys were eight and nine and lived in Ballarat when the abuse they describe in their claims took place, but do not know each other and went to different schools in the Victorian goldfields town where Pell was a priest and the diocese’s episcopal vicar for education.

It can be revealed for the first time that in one case, the scheme accepted the boy was groped on the genitals by Pell during a game at a swimming pool in the town. In the other, the decision-maker accepted that the boy was anally raped in a school gymnasium.

Proof? We don’t need no stinkin’ proof!

Who are the decision makers of the ‘National Redress Scheme’ (sounds like a frock shop for trannies) anyway?

What a travesty.
