Does anyone know how Dutton’s Australian DOGE plans will work?

Trump just repurposed the existing USDS and so didn’t need legislation.

Australia’s auditor general has only recently been appointed by Albo, so her term won’t expire until 2034.

I don’t see a way to introduce Aussie DOGE without either the ANAO being given teeth or by legislating.

Dutton could perhaps do something by amending the Australian Auditing Standards, but such changes would affect all companies government or not.

Window dressing.
They will announce job cuts of x thousand.
This will be in the form of voluntary redundancy.
The take up will be those who can get a job in the private sector, or were going to leave anyway (e.g. within a couple of months of retirement age), or the “cuts” will be establishment positions which exist on the org chart but which have never been filled.
The take up will be about x thousand/2.
The redundancy cost will be roughly the original number to get rid of half the headcount planned.
The public service will then drag their feet on anything Mr Potato wants to do, pleading staff shortages.
X thousand contractors will be sourced via the big consulting firms at roughly 50% overs on cost.

Howard and Costello went through the Canbrrrrr Public Circus in 1996 and reduced the head count. They didn’t need any new legislation to do it.

Do the same again and get rid of a few Departments,

Dept. of Education for one. The States do it. No need for duplication.

Loads of other places to get the Razor Gang going again.

Endangered Aboriginal Languages! That’s because nobody speaks them.
Not that many Latin speakers around either, but it has a lot of written history behind it. Sanskrit: not commonly spoken but again a bit of written history.

There are 600+ tribal languages spoken in PNG, but just about everyone, including English-speakers, uses Tok Pidgin.

If they can do it in PNG with many tribes coming to first contact in the 1920s-30s, surely Australian indigenous tribes could have done so over 250yrs.

I know there is a form of pidgin spoken between Top End peoples, and in the central and western deserts, but really, do we have to pretend that every local band has a living spoken language outside these parts of the country?

The problem is the rain is expected to continue for several days. Lismore is already in serious trouble and many other regions will be flooding. It would have been better as a cyclone that came and went. Now it is a huge amount of water that will do serious damage.

The bloke in front got very uncomfortable as he caught the exchange, thinking I was going to erupt. Everyone behind went dead quiet. I proclaimed loudly so everyone in earshot could hear, “I’m trying to reduce my carbon footprint.” The f*ckwitt went bright red with rage, then huffed off back of the line followed by a few chuckles.

In Teals whore news:

A war of words has erupted in Sydney’s east with a Teal MP threatening to sue her Liberal challenger for defamation who is doubling down saying she will “not be intimidated”.

Liberal Wentworth candidate Ro Knox has reiterated her allegations that a poster promoting Wentworth MP Allegra Spender was put up on top of a poster commemorating a Jewish family that were killed by Hamas.

On Thursday, Ms Spender wrote on social media that she was considering legal action against Ms Knox over accusations her poster was plastered over a poster of the Bibas family who were abducted and killed by Hamas in Gaza.

“My poster was put up previously, clear of anything else. The volunteer who put up the poster is a Jewish Australian,” she posted on Instagram.

“The Bibas family poster was inserted later. There is time-stamped photo evidence and a statutory declaration from the volunteer to confirm this.

“I am considering legal options against the Liberal Party candidate and I ask that she unreservedly apologise. The tragic conflict overseas and suffering of communities in Australia should not be exploited for political gain.”

But on Friday, Ms Knox said she would “not be intimidated”.

“Yesterday, Allegra Spender threatened to sue me for saying that it was disappointing her team had placed her poster over the poster memorialising the Bibas family,” she wrote on Instagram.

“There is clear proof that a poster commemorating the Bibas Family was security fastened to a fence that was later covered by a Teal party poster promoting Allegra Spender.

“I am very disappointed that Ms Spender would threaten heavy handed legal action with such inflammatory language … do the right thing and apologise.”

How Long Wavelength Light from Leaves Enhances Mitochondrial Function

This is a very interesting idea. In a previous life we looked at the issue of infra-red enhancing energy production. Our analyses focused more on near infra-red as providing the most benefit. It won’t penetrate too far beyond the skin and our interest was on the thymus. It may be the case that is also elevated by plants. This finding is consistent with research demonstrating a surprising range of benefits from exposure to natural environments.

However they can’t patent radiation so the research stalls … .

I’m watching a YouTube channel about archaeology and ancient history in the U.K. – longbarrows and the like.

Genuine question: Are there any examples of similar significant (in size) man-made changes in the landscape here in pre-European in Australia?

I imagine they would have had similar tools to the neolithic bods in the U.K., but perhaps a much smaller and more spread-out population here rendered such creations impractical?

John H.

What rendered such creations impossible was cultural isolation but there might be other factors. Hunter gatherers generally lacked innovation even though various tribes were exposed to other cultures. New Zealand is an interesting exception, the indigenous quickly appropriated British technology. The big difference there is that the clever buggers had managed navigate all that way so there might have been an innate capacity to innovate and explore. Jared Diamond isn’t the whole story. Nicholas Wade was ridiculed for his suggestions about innate capacity for innovation varying among different human groups. Even my aged brain is floating up different ideas and findings pointing to those differences.

The whore of Wentworth is getting nasty, methinks she’s worried although I suspect she’ll retain Wentworth because of the electoral redistribution.

By the way, the whore is now trying desperately to backtrack her signing of that infamous letter urging the federal government to reinstate funding for rapists, murderers and kidnappers of Jews. The whore has given an interview to some Jewish outlet and the whore said this…..

Despite her extensive effort, Spender has faced criticism over her signing of a letter by the Teal MPs last year regarding humanitarian aid to Gaza via UNWRA. “There has been a lot of misinformation about that letter,” she said. “What it actually said was that Australia should find any way possible to provide aid that isn’t through UNRWA. But if there was no alternative, then, as a last resort, it could be considered under strict conditions.”

Suuuuure whore..

In this same outlet, the whore also said this……

Spender has expressed a strong desire to visit Israel but has not yet been able to make the trip. She had planned to go last year; however, in the wake of the October 7 attacks and the ongoing conflict, her family requested that she postpone her visit due to safety concerns. She also stated that she hopes to visit Israel in the near future, should circumstances allow.

Goodness, I can’t stop laughing at the whore’s slimy lies.

And in news just in, Victorian police have charged Burgertory owner Hash Tayeh with using insulting words in public. The burger chain owner allegedly chanted “all Zionists are terrorists” four times at a pro-Palestine rally in Melbourne last year.

Should Hash Tash Brown be charged for offensive words? No, I don’t but it’s good to see a rabid Jew hater like Hash Tash Brown be charged for the vomit he’s spewed since 7 October. If they can charge an elderly woman for ringing a mosque and saying ‘go back to where you came from‘ they can fcking well charge a known Jew hater and race baiter for saying that ‘all Zionists are terrorists‘.

I want the country I grew up in back….but I fear it’s gone.

In truth, if the unions and public service is kept under control there is not much to separate the UniParty at State level. BHP and Rio have better access to the Premier than the usual bruvvas and the unions couldn’t get their choice of Premier up. The best the Lieborals could do is get in a position to be competitive in 2029 and there must be some doubt they will even do that.

the biggest price increases from suppliers are from govt. ASIC feess are aggressive, ato penalties are up to $330 per 28 days, rates taxes land taxes.

South Africa’s Collapse Finally Exposed | Rob Hersov

In the Rubin Report episode featuring Rob Hersov, the discussion centers around South Africa’s decline under the African National Congress (ANC). Hersov, a fifth-generation South African and business entrepreneur, criticizes the ANC for its governance over the past 30 years, highlighting regression in key areas like health, education, and employment, alongside the bankruptcy of state-owned enterprises such as South African Airways and Eskom, which has led to frequent load shedding. Hersov describes the government as kleptocratic and racist, with numerous race-based laws that disadvantage white citizens, including recent legislation for expropriation without compensation. Hersov argues that South Africa’s internal mechanisms cannot reverse these issues, suggesting external intervention, particularly from the U.S., is necessary. He appreciates Donald Trump bringing attention to South Africa’s struggles and urges for U.S. sanctions and international pressure on the South African government. Despite the grim outlook, Hersov praises South African entrepreneurs and expresses gratitude for international support.

Why are we so afraid to say it. The problem is black African culture.

This is the Sydney Swans that I very much like. Rudderless, read their own press, no forward structure. I have them not making finals. An insult to Paul Kelly.

Not confined to Haylen. But you knew that. Daily Telegraph:

Senior Minister Ron Hoenig forced a taxpayer-funded chauffeur to drive a 71km round trip on Christmas Day so he could be driven to the airport, which is less than 5km from his house.

The revelation is the latest bombshell to emerge from the Jo “Van” Haylen saga, after almost 4500 pages of driver logs were released under freedom of information laws.

The Saturday Telegraph can reveal that Mr Hoenig – whose Heffron electorate includes the airport in Mascot – used a ministerial “pool” driver to get from his Rosebery house to the airport on Christmas Day, while on leave, so he could fly to Europe for a family holiday.

The driver was earning double time on the public holiday, with the trip costing taxpayers $95 per hour.

It is not known how long the driver took to complete the 71km round trip, which would have included driving from their home to Roseberry, then to the airport before returning home.

The Local Government Minister took extended leave from December 25 to January 22.

When The Telegraph previously inquired about the extended break, Mr Hoenig’s office said that the minister had taken official leave to visit family in Europe, noting that he had not taken a holiday since the election.

“I am Jewish so I don’t celebrate Christmas” Mr Hoenig said in response to questions.

“I was working that morning in my electorate before being driven to the airport, as was allowed under the guidelines.

Meanwhile, The Saturday Telegraph can also reveal that Veterans Minister David Harris tasked a ministerial driver with taking his wife home from Sydney to Wyong while he stayed in the city ahead of parliament.

Mr Harris, his wife, and a policy adviser had attended an event in the Central West of NSW commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Cowra breakout, when 1000 Japanese prisoners of war escaped from a POW camp.

The trio travelled from Mr Harris’ home in Wyong on August 5, returning to Sydney late that evening ahead of parliament the next day.

Mr Harris stayed in Sydney, and asked a ministerial driver to take his wife home to Wyong.

When the Telegraph revealed Transport Minister Jo Haylen had used a ministerial driver to go to a Hunter Valley winery, Mr Harris told cabinet colleagues he had recently tasked a driver with taking his wife back to The Central Coast.

All of the trips were within the rules at the time, which allowed ministers to use chauffeurs for business and private trips.

Premier Chris Minns was forced to change those rules following the “Van Haylen” saga, over which the Summer Hill MP resigned as minister.

She said that while she had not broken the rules, she had made an “error of judgment” in using her driver for the winery trip.

Ministers are now banned from using drivers solely for personal trips.

Thousands of driver logs dating back to 2019 are set to be tabled in parliament next week.

Your money in fluid motion kind reader, it is not a pretty sight. Good Lord.

Gawd Alfred’s taking his time, looks like he’s going over south of BNE between Beenleigh & Southport. LLCC straight over North Stradbroke Is IMO, not too bad with accuracy as Caboolture was predicted.

Weather station at The Spit copped a 95km/h gust in a squall which fits. Coastal GC getting dusted up.

Trump is achieving what hardline leftists never could: dismantling US hegemony and leadership in the global order. When do they start printing the Che Guevara style t-shirts of him for undergrads to wear?

What they once would have cheered for they now whinge about.

That’s aside from the question of whether it’s even true. Arguably it is not true because Trump is showing leadership in the global order by being the only one to try to negotiate a peace deal in Ukraine. War isn’t the only way to show leadership.

WA election 2025: Labor hit with election eve embarrassment as locally made C-series trains taken off linesDylan CapornThe West Australian

Labor has been left red faced on the eve of the election, with the Public Transport Authority pulling the State’s locally manufactured trains from service just hours after they were praised by the Government.
Six trains, built in Bellevue’s new manufacturing facility, were stopped and returned to the depot for checks on Friday after the discovery of a technical issue on one of them.
“A software update will be implemented to address the issue. The C-series trains are expected to re-enter service early next week,” a PTA spokeswoman said.
But the problems with the new trains — which have faced a range of service issues since being rolled out last year — came just hours after the Government spruiked the local manufacture of the cars in its final press conference of the election campaign.
Speaking at steel fabricator Unique Metals Laser in Wangara, Premier Roger Cook and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti both boasted about Labor’s commitment to local train car manufacturing.
“It’s a success story of the State that we should be proud of, the fact that we’ve got our rail cars here. I know the community is very proud,” Ms Saffioti said.

According to the ABC, Alfred has turned Albo’s plans for for an April 12 election into disarray. Or maybe not, as this is just “reported” and not confirmed. The ABC then proffers an early May election after the budget. Next thing we know Albo will want us to put it off until after his nuptials. Geez, am I the only one that wants to get this over and dusted.

Why?
Perhaps the fact they are Communists as well may have some bearing on it.

So, I’m punishing the single malt, and watching the 1968 production of “The Charge of the Light Brigade.’

“There my Lord, is your enemy. There are your guns.”

It’s probably a good job Lewis Nolan didn’t survive the Charge – he would have been court martialled and dismissed the service in disgrace after that shambles.
