Steve, thanks for thinking of me. In fact they have delayed the surgery till Wednesday, so I have two more sleeps before the knife falls.

It’s annoying when they do that, but I guess others more needy have surgical priority. Private payment doesn’t trump real need.

So I hope it is not just for the surgeon’s golf day. 🙂

“Oopsie, Too Late” El Salvador President Mocks Judge Boasberg After Flights Land With Several Hundred Venezuelan Gang Members Deported by President Trump

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/03/oopsie-too-late-el-salvador-president-mocks-judge/

President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele mocked U.S. District Judge James Boasberg after two flights from the U.S. carrying nearly between 250 and 300 Venezuelan and other gang members landed in El Salvador despite Boasberg’s emergency order issued Saturday evening in a case brought by the ACLU to turn the planes around and return the gang members to the U.S.

Rep. Brandon Gill Moves to Impeach Obama Judge James Boasberg for Blocking Trump’s Use of Alien Enemies Act

Representative Brandon Gill (R-TX) announced plans to file articles of impeachment against U.S. District Judge James Boasberg.

This action comes in response to Judge Boasberg’s recent decision to temporarily block President Donald Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, aimed at expediting the deportation of members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua.

Judge Merchan and his daughter: A million-dollar business at Trump’s expense.
https://gatewayhispanic.com/2025/03/judge-merchan-and-his-daughter/

Kash Patel, Trump’s nominee to lead the FBI, has opened Pandora’s box: Merchan and his family are neck-deep in a mire of dirty money and conflicts of interest that would make any “rule of law” advocate blush.

Patel doesn’t mince words. In a recent interview, he announced that the FBI has issued a subpoena to Loren Merchan’s company—Judge Merchan’s daughter—to investigate whether she pocketed millions thanks to the judicial persecution of Trump. “I want to see the bank records because money doesn’t lie,” Patel said. “How much of the over $15 million that Authentic Campaigns, Merchan’s daughter’s company, earned came into the family after this sham conviction?”

Activist Judges and the Overreach of Judicial Authority: A Case for Sedition and Treason
?https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/03/activist-judges-overreach-judicial-authority-case-sedition-treason/

The balance of power among the three branches of government is a cornerstone of the United States Constitution.

However, activist judges have increasingly encroached upon executive authority, undermining the separation of powers.

When judges exceed their constitutional authority by obstructing or overturning executive actions without legitimate constitutional grounds, they not only overstep their role but may also commit acts tantamount to treason and sedition.

Of course, the Democrats will double down.

Too crazy to leave late on the old fred:

Law students at Macquarie University face the threat of failing a key exam if they perform an underwhelming acknowledgement of country or refuse to acknowledge traditional Aboriginal owners at all, in a move labelled “indoctrination” by Indigenous leaders.

The presentation is worth 30 per cent of the final course mark and students have been told the acknowledgement of country is one of the key five marking areas. The demand to perform a “thoughtful”, “culturally respectful” and “exceptionally well-written” ode to Aboriginal traditional owners at the start of an oral law exam is despite the course on “age and the law” having no direct relation to Indigenous matters.

Longstanding academic and founding chief executive of the Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation Simon Haines described assessing a compulsory acknowledgement of country as “dangerous”.

“The critical error here is the confusion of categories – the academic and the political activist,” Professor Haines said.

“Wherever you may stand on acknowledgement of country etc, the fact is that being obliged to make an acknowledgment statement as an assessable element in an academic process is basically shocking. Social justice activist projects should not be confused with an academic assessment project. And that’s what’s happening here.”

Professor Haines, an academic for more than 30 years, called on the university’s vice-chancellor, Bruce Dowton, to review it.

“I actually think the VC (of Macquarie University) should review this,” he said.

“It’s his job. If I was running a university, I would call them in and basically say you just can’t do this. It’s an academic process, not a political one.”

He said tertiary administrators were becoming too detached from the mainstream to notice the problem with the welcome to country test. “The metaphor that I use is it’s a bit like an ice flow that’s broken away from the mainland. The entire sector has shifted so far in this activist direction that they don’t even realise how far they’ve got from popular community opinion. This kind of thing is why universities are on the nose more than they even realise or acknowledge,” he said.

Conservative Indigenous leaders have criticised Macquarie University for the assessment. Opposition Indigenous Australians spokeswoman Jacinta Nampijinpa Price said it showed universities were “more interested in indoctrination than genuine education”. Warren Mundine said he was “flabbergasted” and called it “pure indoctrination by a group of fanaticists”.

This latest controversy at Macquarie University follows 18 months of intense scrutiny on its anti-Israel academic Randa Abdel-Fattah. Her taxpayer-funded $870,000 research funding was recently suspended after she bragged about bending research rules.

University management conceded she had made “anti-Semitic” statements during the last 18 months but said it could not take disciplinary action.

The rubric for the “law reform campaign” presentation assessment, seen by The Australian, says a student would fail if they “did not present an acknowledgement of country or welcome to country at the beginning of the presentation or did so in a way that was inappropriate or did not comply with the instructions”.

“There is significant room for improvement and further thought required for this to be considered culturally respectful,” the rubric offers.

A high-distinction acknowledgement of country would see a student present “a brief, thoughtful, exceptionally well-written, culturally respectful acknowledgement of country or welcome to country at the beginning of the presentation”, the marking rubric reads.

The course guide also refers students to the university’s “Aboriginal cultural protocols” document. The document contains a table of terms that “are now considered offensive to Aboriginal Australians and provides appropriate alternatives”. Examples include “Aboriginal Australian people/s” instead of “Aborigine”, “Aboriginal Australians or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples” instead of “Aboriginals”, “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples” instead of “ATSI”, and “Indigenous nations” instead of “nomadic tribes”.

Senator Nampijinpa Price said “mandating that students participate in what is arguably a reinvention of culture in order to attain a tertiary qualification is an indictment on our education system”.

“Australians are fed up with being made to feel like they are guests in their own country, and requirements like this only serve to confirm that our educational institutions have become more interested in indoctrination than genuine education,” the Northern Territory senator said.

“The Albanese government has allowed activist behaviour like this to take root in our schools and tertiary institutions.

“That is why a Dutton Coalition government will get our country back on track, and ensure universities are focused on core academic instruction and research, rather than political agendas, and to treating people on the basis of need rather than race.”

Mr Mundine, a prominent No vote campaigner during the voice to parliament campaign and unsuccessful Liberal candidate for the NSW seat of Gilmore, said universities had become “centres of indoctrination”. “It is a dangerous step,” he said. “What has that got to do with the actual course?

“We are training lawyers. At the end of the day, they’re going to use that legal knowledge and everything to make Australia a better place in business and in the general community, and within the legal profession and in politics.

“This is pure indoctrination by a group of fanaticists.”

Mr Mundine said the acknowledgement of country was a “nice and great idea that had been hijacked by activists”.

A Macquarie University spokesperson said late on Sunday: “An acknowledgment of, or welcome to country is a requirement of this assessment because it is relevant both to this specific task and to the overall learning outcomes of the unit, Age and the Law. This unit addresses Indigenous young people and their relationship with the legal system in Australia.

“Age and the Law comprises three assessments. This is the only assessment in this unit that requires an acknowledgment of, or welcome to country.

“An acknowledgment of, or welcome to country is not a requirement of all assessment tasks at the university, nor is this a requirement of all assessment within the Macquarie Law School.”

That has to lead to legal action against McQuarie – did the students give ‘informed consent’ before starting their degrees that political correctness would be marked, not just legal knowledge? Did McQuarie fraudulently represent their course as a ‘law degree’ when in reality its a ‘law-political correctness’ degree?

“Indigenous nations” instead of “nomadic tribes”.

Neither is correct. They moved around constantly in small familial (lineage) ‘hordes’, as described by earlier anthropologists, necessitated by the sparse carrying capacity of the land on which they hunted and gathered foods. They met in larger groups for rare ceremonies around occasional seasonal food sources, such as the appearance in one area of plentiful Bogan Moths. They had no wider political unity in these meetings and the small groups continually fought each other over women and food. They existed in an ongoing situation of petty raiding.

The glorifying of a simple social system living hand to mouth is to be deplored. It is untruthful nonsense. Traditional aboriginal culture had certain strengths to ensure its continuation, but it was hardly admirable nor political in civilised terms.

Fresh from eviscerating brave men for doing terrible things under terrible circumstances, Paul Brereton is himself under fire for his management of Albanese’s signature National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Former senior beaks are queuing up to bag Brereton, on account of:

The commission has received at least $125m from the taxpayer since its inception on July 1, 2023, but has delivered no independent convictions and has initiated only one matter currently before the courts.

The irritated beaks who were happy to croak to the Unlinkable OZ:

Former NSW Supreme Court judge Anthony Whealy KC doesn’t mince his words about the performance of the integrity body for which he had such high hopes.

“For the NACC and for what people expected of it, it’s hard to think of anything useful they’ve done in the time they’ve been operative,” Mr Whealy said.

“There have been the occasional release of statistics and so on, but no one really knows what’s going on there.”

…former Victorian Supreme Court judge Stephen Charles KC, who wrote a book advocating a federal anti-corruption body and campaigned relentlessly for years, won’t even give it a bare pass.

“A bad fail,” he told The Australian. “I think the appointment of Paul Brereton has been shown not to be a success.”

Centre for Public Integrity director Geoffrey Watson SC told The Australian he was very disappointed by the “overwhelming culture of unhelpful secrecy” and the “appalling response to the Robodebt referral”.

“It has been so far a waste of time and money,” Mr Watson said. “I’m putting that down to the leadership, that it’s just not being led adequately. As a corruption agency, it seems to go out of its way to find that it’s incapable of moving.

“It’s got the money, the skills and the resources to do it. If you can’t produce a report on anything in two years it’s time somebody went in there with a scrubbing brush.”

But the NACC has performed as designed by the Prime Mollusc: senior public servants off scot free from criminal allegations over Robodebt and any review of the overnight award of Aussie Brinny’s payola lost to sight.

One for navally inclined Cats:

US Starts to Build Submarine Presence on Strategic Australian Coast Under AUKUS (16 Mar)

Around 50-80 United States navy personnel will arrive by the middle of the year at Western Australia’s HMAS Stirling base, which is undergoing an A$8 billion ($5 billion) upgrade to prepare for the “Submarine Rotational Force West,” Australian officials have said.

In two years, those numbers will swell to hundreds of U.S. navy personnel and support crew.

Under AUKUS, Australia’s most expensive defense project, Australia will buy two used Virginia class submarines next decade, and build a new class of nuclear powered submarine with Britain, to replace its aging diesel powered fleet.

In preparation, there are 115 Australians in the U.S. nuclear navy training pipeline or on Virginia submarines, plus 130 training for nuclear submarine maintenance at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, U.S. navy officials said.

Meanwhile more Collins class woes:

Upgrades to Collins-class submarines delayed (Sky News, 17 Mar)

A $5 billion plan to extend Australia’s Collins-class submarines has been left up in the air.

Government-owned shipbuilder ASC revealed it is not ready to upgrade the first boat.

FISA is Foreign Intelligence Surveillance. This is the Judge who told the government to turn around planes deporting violent criminals. He belong in gaol himself.

@themarketswork

As many know, Judge Boasberg was a FISA Court (FISC) Judge. But it gets worse. He also reviewed James Comey’s memos prior to release in 2018 and oversaw release of Clinton emails in Judicial Watch case back in 2016.

Boasberg gave FBI Lawyer Kevin Clinesmith probation for lying to the FISC by fundamentally altering a CIA email that exonerated Carter Page. Boasberg appointed deep-stater Mary McCord as amicus curiae advisor to the FISA court—AFTER McCord played a material role in personally misleading the FISC in the Page FISA.

Boasberg was also involved in Ray Epps case, giving Epps probation and calling Epps and his wife “victims” of conspiracy theories. Finally, Boasberg took time out to personally attend Trump’s DC trial, seemingly just for the enjoyment of it…

There’s one benefit to all this. These people are really outing themselves.

@julie_kelly2

James Boasberg, along with 16 DC judges, signed off on the unlawful use of 1512c2–the corporate fraud obstruction statute–against J6ers.

He presided over 70 J6 cases, both guilty pleas and conviction at trial. In nearly every instance, Boasberg imposed prison time even for the petty offense of “parading” in the Capitol.

He sent 60-year-old Sandra Weyer, a woman from Pennsylvania who committed no violence on Jan 6, to 14 months in federal prison on the unlawful 1512c2 count.

After denying several defense motions including change of venue, Boasberg convicted Cynthia Ballenger after a brief bench trial of the 4 common misdemeanors. He then sent her to federal prison for four months.

He sentenced former NYPD officer Sara Carpenter to 22 months in federal prison on the unlawful obstruction count, nonviolent civil disorder, and misdemeanors.

I could go on (and might later.)

Boasberg with gusto threw the book at Americans exercising their 1A rights on Jan 6 then denied J6ers other constitutional rights to ensure convictions and imprisonment.

But now he’s going to bat for illegals suspected of ties to a dangerous foreign gang.

Her name is Danielle Kurtzleben @titonka. She is the newly appointed White House reporter for @NPR and a massive Trump hater and LGBTQ advocate who once suggested during the 2024 campaign that Trump only spoke in Howell, Michigan because it has ties to the KKK.

Did she hit President Trump in the face on purpose?

Brisbane’s never-ending homelessness battle has taken another twist, leaving as many questions as it has delivered answers.

The city’s camps will be shut down on Thursday and cleared out in a stunning directive by the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner.

Mr Schrinner said council now knew the vast majority of those living in the camps – particularly at hotspots like Musgrave Park and Kurilpa Point near the Gallery of Modern Art — had been offered safe accommodation but had declined it.

Consequently, he said those living in the camps would be given 24 hours to move on.

After that council officers, supported by police, would move in and remove all the tents and other items.

The President of El Salvadore.

@nayibbukele

Today, the first 238 members of the Venezuelan criminal organization, Tren de Aragua, arrived in our country. They were immediately transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center, for a period of one year (renewable).

The United States will pay a very low fee for them, but a high one for us.

Over time, these actions, combined with the production already being generated by more than 40,000 inmates engaged in various workshops and labor under the Zero Idleness program, will help make our prison system self-sustainable. As of today, it costs $200 million per year.

On this occasion, the U.S. has also sent us 23 MS-13 members wanted by Salvadoran justice, including two ringleaders. One of them is a member of the criminal organization’s highest structure.

This will help us finalize intelligence gathering and go after the last remnants of MS-13, including its former and new members, money, weapons, drugs, hideouts, collaborators, and sponsors.

As always, we continue advancing in the fight against organized crime. But this time, we are also helping our allies, making our prison system self-sustainable, and obtaining vital intelligence to make our country an even safer place. All in a single action.

May God bless El Salvador, and may God bless the United States.

You know the end is nigh for net zero when the ABC runs an article admitting that Net Zero is an impossible goal. This article by Alan Kohler reminds me of articles that were written by some of the old communists hacks following the fall of the USSR and which continued for years to trumpet the wonders of the Soviet regime. The mental gymnastics and careful wording here aims to shift the narrative far enough away from the truth (i.e. that Climate Change caused by CO2 is and always was a scam and net zero was a political construct without scientific backing, impossible to measure and achieve) to protect themselves, the scammers and their vulnerable and stupid followers. This article aims to set the tone across the nation for dealing with the crumbling net zero narrative. ABC Pravda doing what it does best. A must read. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-17/climate-change-religion-trump-zeldin-epa-wind-back-rules/105057538

Humans evolved with fire, cooking made more food edible and contributed to our greater brain size. It allowed expansion into different environments and was also defensive at night against predators, and warm in a cooling climate.

Kohler asks the rhetorical question: Why have we failed to limit warming?
And answers it:

Obviously, a big part of it is the fossil fuel industry’s success in turning climate change into a political issue instead of a scientific one, persuading the right side of politics that it’s all part of a left woke conspiracy, even a “religion”, with the right-wing media facilitating that project, led by Rupert Murdoch.

Obviously.

But I think the more fundamental reason is the scientific community’s failure to tell the truth.

There has been systemic reticence on the part of scientists to spell out what’s actually going on, first because science is inherently uncertain, so they are always reluctant to be definitive, and second because they worry that if the true nightmare was revealed, politicians and everybody else would either refuse to believe it or just give up.

Personally, I find it surprising that a few paras prior to those sensational revelations, Kohler had noted a rather simpler fundamental reason:

Energy scientist, Vaclav Smil puts the total cost of achieving net zero by 2050 at $US444 trillion, or $US17 trillion a year for 25 years, “requiring affluent economies to spend 20 to 25 per cent of their annual GDP on the transition”.

Just a wacky, way out suggestion here, governments don’t think that scale of value destruction is actually a practical idea. They talk big games, but nobody believes in climate change salvation enough to vaporise their social economy (even if that were possible).

A little virtuous wounding – a different matter.

Disclaimer: as a paid up member of Big Fossil, unless I pointed this out, I would be found ‘suicided’, zipped into a sports bag full of scorpions.

“requiring affluent economies to spend 20 to 25 per cent of their annual GDP on the transition”.

And this in a world where few countries can even keep their spending within their actual receipts, much less cut spending to the point where 1/4 of GDP could be redirected.. Most spending is ‘baked in’ to meet interest payments and entitlements. Diverting 25% to the green dream would require ‘WW2’ level austerity at home, and of course, economic productivity will *fall* precipitously once resources are directed into the self destructing of our existing energy systems

More Trumpening!

The US has deported over 200 alleged members of a Venezuelan gang to be held in a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador after US President Donald Trump controversially invoked wartime legislation to expel them.

El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, said 238 members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and 23 members of the Salvadoran gang MS-13 had arrived and were in custody.

The deportations took place despite a US federal judge granting a temporary suspension of the expulsions order, apparently as planes were already headed to El Salvador.

From the Spectator Australia – Part of the Post –

Dimitri Burshtein and Peter Swan
15 March 2025

“Australians are frequently reminded that we are facing ‘the most complex and challenging strategic environment since the second world war’. Yet given recent exercises by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), Australia does not seem anywhere near prepared. It was left to a Virgin Airlines pilot to report live firing since apparently Australia lacks the capability to monitor potentially hostile warships in our backyard.

The primary role of a military is to deter, engage in, and win wars. When it comes to deterrence, former US Strategic Command chief General Kevin Chilton noted that deterrence the combination of will and capability. The Australian defence establishment’s lack of awareness and response to PLAN’s exercises underscores Australia’s weak deterrence posture, highlighting both a deficiency in will and a shortfall in capability. Rather, the Australian military seems to excel in the bureaucratic stakes.

In a classic episode of Yes, Prime Minister, PM Jim Hacker is shocked to learn that the Royal Navy has more admirals than ships. Never want for reality to be outdone by comedy. The Royal Australian Navy has approximately 51 commission vessels and 78 admirals (one-star officers or higher).

This administocracy is not limited to the Royal Australian Navy. The Australian Army has 91 starred officers and the Royal Australian Air Force 69. In toto, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) has 238 starred officers for 57,000 active-duty personnel. This equates to approximately 1 starred officer per 240 ADF members.

In contrast, the US military comprises approximately 1.3 million active-duty personnel. To lead the US forces, there are approximately 650 starred officers or approximately one starred officer per 2,000 soldiers. Australian soldiers, it seems, require eight times more oversight and administration than do soldiers serving in arguably the most lethal military in the world.

It is not just the number of starred officers. The Chief of the Australian Defence Force earns approximately $1.1 million. The Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff earns approximately AU $420,000 per annum (US $260,000). Unless there is some unique Australian way of military organisation, it is unclear why the head of the Australian military, who oversees a force one-twentieth the size of the US military, earns two and a half times the salary of his American counterpart.”

Another offshore windmill disaster.

Germany’s First Offshore Wind Farm To Be Dismantled After Just 15 Years Of Operation (16 Mar)

According to Blackout News, a decisive factor for dismantling the pioneer project is the expiration of generous subsidies made possible through Germany’s EEG renewable energies feed-in act. The subsidy meant that the Alpha Ventus wind farm got 15.4 cents per kilowatt hour after being put in operation. Now that the subsidy has run out, the wind farm operators receive only the basic tariff of 3.9 cents per kilowatt hour, thus making the farm unprofitable.

Seventy percent of their revenue was the subsidy! And that is for a wind farm in probably the best location, since it was the first one built. I suspect it is clapped out anyway after 15 years of pounding by waves, and that will’ve influenced the decision to pull the plug. It really does say that Blackout Bowen’s offshore wind pipedream is never going to happen.

China will take steps to revive consumption by boosting incomes, stabilizing the stock and property markets, and offering incentives to raise the birth rate, Xinhua reported. Monday data may show a resilient economy in January and February, with retail sales picking up and investment steady from 2024’s full-year figures.

They’re trying everything from the income side, ie. to stoke demand. Until they come to terms with around US$18 trillion of bad debt floating around the economy, it’s all for nothing. It’s japan all over again. The CCP can post anything they want like GDP growing at 5%. No one will believe them.

The other day I got to thinking about that very thing.
For something to be “net” it implies you are using some of the “negative” energy which is offset by “positive” energy to arrive at zero.
If your energy demand is 100 units, and you use 15 units of “negative” energy (coal and gas) you generate 115 units of “positive” energy to offset to net zero.
So you generate 130 units of energy against a demand of 100.
A completely nonsensical concept.

Welcome to Country is killing the planet.

Mag: ‘Email signatures are harming the planet & could cost people their lives — it’s time to stop using them’ – Adding ‘gender pronouns in emails…may contribute to the premature deaths of one person a year’ (16 Mar)

My recent study explored the environmental impact of lengthening email signatures, focusing specifically on two types of information: gender pronouns and land acknowledgements because both are relatively new additions to email signatures.

In both cases, the extra carbon emissions for each email for the extra characters is estimated and aggregated over the population that uses them.

The results showed that in Canada, where about 15 per cent of people include gender pronouns in emails, the resulting carbon emissions from this small change (three extra words) may contribute to the premature deaths of one person a year, according to the 1,000-ton rule.

The environmental harm and human mortality caused by this seemingly minor digital habit is evident. Large blocks of text like legal disclaimers and land acknowledgements cause even more harm. Images and logos, which contain even larger amounts of data, cause more emissions and deaths still.

“We’re not fcking around”

Week 8

Bessent interviewed Sunday morning US time.

“I’ve been in the investment business for 35 years, and I can tell you that corrections are healthy, they are normal,”

What’s not healthy is straight up, that you get these euphoric markets. That’s how you get a financial crisis. It would have been much healthier if someone had put the brakes on in ‘06, ‘07. We wouldn’t have had the problems in ‘08.

“We are putting the policies in place that will make the affordability crisis go down, inflation moderate and as we set the sails I am confident that the American people will come our way,

“..the American Dream isn’t contingent on being able to buy cheap goods from China.”

“The American dream is rooted in the concept that any citizen can achieve prosperity, upward mobility and economic security.”

“Because I tell you that this massive government spending that we’d had, that if that had kept going, we have to wean our country off of that.”

“I am confident that the American people will come our way” on Trump tariff policy”

“I’m not worried about the markets” following worst week in stock market in two years”

There are no guarantees that there won’t be a recession”

“The American dream is not contingent on cheap baubles from China”

More and more I’m getting the impression that this is an administration focused on the middle class. I’d describe it more as a Main Street administration with its eye on raising incomes. It’s not inimical towards Wall Street but it’s not its focus.

In other words its an income administration rather than asset appreciation focused one.

If real incomes begin to rise. If living costs go down, the markets will follow along.

The interview is here.

Apparently an underlying logic behind shipping the gang thugs to El Salvador is terror.

Previously gangbangers had nothing much to fear from being apprehended. But now, the idea of spending 20 years duck walking dressed in boxers and singlets while spending twelve hours a day in the prison workshop has many of the scum either running or considering a different lifestyle.

It must be a great strategy because it has the BBC reaching stratospheric levels of hysteria. Sweet to watch.

I have seen some Yewchubes of the El Salvador system, one in particular from a young man who was given a full tour. There are multiple levels of incarceration. The felons who have committed lesser crimes are being comprehensively rehabilitated, taught to read and write and trained in basic behaviour, then allowed to learn basic skills, particularly in construction, all with the aim of bettering their own country. The worst of the worst are literally duck walking. Bukele is very popular but of course there are human rights concerns.

It’s possible that Hamas launched their genocidal attack when they did because they feared this system would render all their bootleg missiles and fire balloons irrelevant.

Katz confirms Iron Beam defense laser to be operational within several months (JPost, 16 Mar)

The Iron Beam is a ground-based high-power laser air defense system designed to counter short- to mid-range aerial threats, including rockets and mortars.

The Iron Beam laser air-defense system produced by Rafael will be operational before the end of 2025, Defense Minister Israel Katz said Sunday.

This integration will significantly enhance Israel’s defense capabilities against current and future threats while offering substantially lower operational costs, with some estimates as low as $2-$3.50 per laser shot, compared with $40,000-50,000 for an Iron Dome interceptor.

Of course by the time it is operational they won’t need it anymore, since Hamas will have been obliterated and Hezbollah severely reduced and cut off from supply from Iran because of the Sunnis now running Syria. But I am sure the IDF can think of a few things to do with it, once it’s up and running.

It’s not hypocrisy nor double standards.

It’s always and ever about power – they are in charge and you are not, so they can do as they please. When you are in power and they are not, you abuse your power (which they NEVER do).

You are “on the wrong side of history” you see, while they are on the right side of it. Hence whatever they do is good, and whatever you do is bad. Therefor, ipso facto, their violence is speech, while your speech is violence.

I’m not saying it makes sense, just that it is their justification.

Trans Tesla vandal – who allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at cars – lives with mum and calls herself ‘baby’: sources (Sky News, 17 Mar)

A 42-year-old transgender woman [man in a frock] who allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at vehicles and spray-painted “Nazi cars” at a Colorado Tesla dealership lives with her [his] mother due to “emotional problems” and calls herself “baby” online.

Lucy Grace Nelson, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, is accused of hurling incendiary devices at a Tesla dealership in Loveland, Northern Colorado, and vandalizing the business and vehicles on multiple occasions with graffiti “offensive and hateful in nature,” police said.

Smelly hippies.

How often should I wash my exercise clothes? (MedXpress, 16 Mar)

Earlier this year, the French government caused a stir with advice about how often you should wash your clothes. For sports clothes, it recommends up to three wears before you wash them.

This stems from legitimate environmental concerns—each laundry cycle consumes significant water and energy. Frequent washing can also degrade fabrics more quickly, contributing to textile waste.

But what about our health? If the thought of rewearing your stinky t-shirt or damp sports bra makes you squeamish, here’s what you need to know.

Top Ender,
you might have better facts that what I’ve gleaned from ChatGPT, but it notes Australia’s military “capabilities” as:

  • 3 destroyers;
  • 7 (shitty) frigates;
  • 6 (shitty) submarines;
  • 3 amphibious warships;
  • 6 patrol ships (aka coastguard);
  • 763 bushmasters;
  • 330 armoured cars;
  • 2268 “multipurpose” vehicles;
  • 3580 military trucks;
  • 96 “attack” aircraft;
  • 38 transport and reconnaissance aircraft;
  • 14,000 navy personel;;
  • 27,000 army personnel;
  • 14,00 air force personnel.

19 days worth of petrol reserves.

A mate of mine whom I haven’t seen in years and now works as a “strategist” for our DoD told me yesterday that our frigates can’t even make it to Cocos Islands with needing refuelling and an accompanying “replenishment ship.”

Laughable.

Consider China:

  • 400 ships
  • 1500 “attack” planes;
  • Over 6000 tanks;
  • Over 2M active personnel;

We saw the fuss over a pet magpie as well – those people nearly lost custody.
We have a ridiculous situation where deadly poisonous snakes are protected even though in many areas they are at near plague numbers. But try and keep native animals and you risk the law coming down on you like a tonne of ambulance chasers.

Over the years, we have been told that everything from sugar, salt, animal fats, carbs, to the latest bogey, seed oils, are killing us. Yet, overall, people keep living longer.

Me, I am with Yogi Bear. An apple pie is much more attractive than foraging for nuts and berries.

The endless search for the magic bullet food poison du jour is wildly unscientific, but makes a lot of money for food entrepreneurs.

That huckster, Maggie Beer (who happens to sell olive oil) advocates using it for everything, including frying chips. That’s all very well if money is no object, plus the best temperature for good chips is more like that of peanut oil, or even safflower oil.

As I have said before, dietary ‘science’ is rivalled only by astrology.

Wife and I both shopped this morning. She went to Coles, I went to Aldi. We both bought frozen beans. Hers were product of Australia, 825g for $4.90. Mine were packed in France from imported product, 1kg for $2.79. I doubt there will be any difference in quality. I know this isn’t new but can someone smarter than me tell me how we get out of this mess.

I really liked the casting by Verhoeven, especially Neil Patrick Harris, Clancy Brown and the gorgeous Ms Richards.

Didn’t mind the flavour of that movie either, Verhoeven was trying to be satirical but the sheer alienness, and energy of his bugs made it a pretty good space opera. Shallow though, but hey that’s Hollywood.

Heinlein went a bit nuts with the liberation of literature and his emergence as an SF superstar.

His later novels are full of sexual freedom for himself as personified by the Heinlein Hero, a rough tough fighting machine (of either sex) who was able to cope with all of the universe’s challenges.

The “Pardons” that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect

because of the fact that they were done by Autopen. In other
words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he

knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have

To those who espouse washing clothes every time if they have been worn.

I must disagree.

Obviously, clothes that are sweaty or dirty need to be washed after use. But, washing something simply because it has been worn once, irrespective of the circumstances, is not only wasteful and destructive of the item in question, it perhaps hints at some sort of self-loathing for the body.

Why on earth would you wash a sweatshirt that has been worn over a T shirt for 8-10 hours, mostly indoors?

As for jeans or other trousers, unless you are going commando or wearing them while fixing machinery, they get washed when they are dirty or whiffy, not just because they have been worn.

The availability of washing machines has greatly distorted behaviour around clothes washing, not to mention the relative cheapness of new clothes.

Wash soiled* garments. This is not a difficult concept.

Also, hang stuff you don’t want faded inside out on the line. Even if you’re using the dryer – inside out. The pockets dry faster.

And be grateful that you’re not using a washboard, a copper and a mangle.

*sniff them, examine them, when in doubt…wash them. Be aware that all sorts of parasites and pathogens hitch a ride on your clothes.

This is going to get really ugly for the ‘pardonees’ if SCOTUS sides with the administration. Hiden can say he was present, but why then the need for an auto-pen?

@kylenabecker

JUST IN: President Donald J. Trump is challenging the LEGAL VALIDITY of the last minute pardons “signed” by former President Joe Biden. “The ‘Pardons’ that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen.” “In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them!” “The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden. The U.S. Constitution requires a president be “present” for all legal signatures. The legal validity of President Biden’s “pardons” signed by autopen may be challenged in the Supreme Court.

A bit of precedence here that I discovered:

In 2011, President Barack Obama authorized the use of an autopen to sign a bill into law while he was overseas.

  • Some critics questioned its legitimacy, but the Department of Justice (DOJ) determined it was valid because the president had intended and authorized the signature.
  • No court challenge overturned it, reinforcing that intent matters more than physical presence.

U.S. v. Wilson (1833) – Pardon Case

  • The Supreme Court ruled that a presidential pardon does not need to be physically accepted by the recipient to be valid.
  • This established that the act of granting a pardon depends on the president’s intent, not a formalistic process.

Ex parte Garland (1867) – Pardon Case

  • The Court ruled that a presidential pardon takes effect when granted, regardless of how it is delivered.

Alas, a middle-aged female zombie informs me that coastal erosion threatens the future of the Surfliner service because of “climate change”.

Um, sweetie, every ocean coastline in the world is constantly shifting as a result of erosion. The climate has little to do with it, but atheist zealots insist erosion is a recent invention, so it must be inserted into the animist religion that belongs exclusively to severely educated former Christians in the West.

The Surfliner is a marvelous service that’s in no danger – even from the loons who live in California.

Dutton pledges up to $35m to rebuild Adass Israel synagogue

Peter Dutton has pledged a Coalition government would provide funding up to $35m to support reconstruction of the Adass Israel Synagogue of Melbourne that was victim to apparent anti-Semitic arson late last year.
Anthony Albanese previously reportedly promised federal funding to aid in the reconstruction.
Standing at the site of the burnt-down synagogue, the Opposition Leader said he wanted to “bring it back to life much bigger and better than what it was, and that is a symbolic response to those people who have hate in their hearts”.
“Anti-Semitism is not just an issue for the Jewish community, it is an issue for every Australian, and we have spoken with a very strong consistent voice, and we always will, in words of condemnation to those who would seek to attack, to do harm, to kill, to murder people from the Jewish community,” he said.

Any of the bush lawyers on this blog help out? Would the synagogue have been insured, and would insurance cover an act of terrorism?

Earlier today (9.15am) I posted a summary of an article on the ABC website written by Alan Kohler in which there was a significant shift in narrative and admission (albeit from a commissioned writer) that the net zero target might not be as achievable as previously espoused by Labor and the Greens, followed by lots of conflicting filler. Other posters also noted the contradictions (Dr Faustus and Bruce from Newcastle and others) and Lizzie picked up on my interpretation of Kohler’s role as a bellwether primer.

It is only now I realize that what was niggling at me, is that Labor maybe now contemplating a significant policy shift on net zero.

Think of it this way, if Labor now back peddles on net zero, blaming Trump for putting it off course, where will it leave Dutton? And what will Labor lose? All Labor needs to say is that we are realists. We understand that Trump has derailed net zero but we will work with all Australians to insure that our country is resilient to the impacts of climate change. This switch is now a real possibility. Are Dutton and the Libs ready for it ?

I didn’t comment about Kohler’s article but I was wondering if he has been talking with his fellow ABC colleague Chris Uhlmann lately. Chris has lately been scoffing red pills quite amazingly.

It’s an interesting thought mem; worth merit.

But I think the one potential “blockage” to your idea is you forget it’s a religion with a faith that cannot be shaken nor questioned.

I dont think they would do it for the simple reason their industry funds will be up to their guts in sweet, sweet guaranteed renew-balls returns.

At the least they would have to give them a couple of years to weasel the worst assetts away.

How can Australia be rid of the Miserable Ghost?

He’s at it again, this time over AUKUS.

If the Libs put up a Go Find Me page to pay the creature out, I’d donate.

I suspect he is very unhappy that Trump is laying waste to his pet cause de jour of climate rubbish.

FMD. Peta Credlin is a no-show — again — for her 6pm slot on Sky News, replaced by Australian TV’s most boring man, Adelaide nerd Caleb Bond.

A big up yours to the audience from Sky News management. I’m off somewhere else

Pull your finger out, Paul “Boris: Whittaker (Sky CEO) — there is ZERO reason to watch your channel if your lazy “stars” don’t turn up.

@realMaalouf

So 3 Muslims in Wales kidnapped a Jewish man, tied him to a radiator, and brutally beat and tortured him.

They intended to kill him, but he survived only because he managed to escape.

Can you imagine the global outrage if the opposite happened? Why is the media silent?

The “Media Literacy” scam is accelerating way too fast & it has to be stopped NOW.

Here’s why:

@MikeBenzCyber

Instructive that the censorship ringleader at the FBI was using the “media literacy” censorship predicate — the idea that if you don’t read the right media sources (i.e., Blob-approved propaganda outlets), you’re deemed media illiterate and need to get your mind right

Trump’s apparent sanguinity in the face of the judicial coup is surprising and confusing.

Obviously the criminality must stop or his whole term will be made ineffective by what is a tinpot tactic that should not survive scrutiny.

But there is no hint of a strategy emerging which is surprising given his counsellor Habba is a ballbreaker.

Perhaps they are afraid of the Barret risk, but arguably even someone as corrupt as her would baulk at bringing on a crisis that the Surpreme Court would inevitably lose. Or perhaps not if the dems can cheat a majority in the House, a judgrment would not be overgurned and Trump’s whole term could be negated.

Obviously, obstruction to completely negate Trump’ term is the strategy. But as Gingrich suggested, Trump should not tie himself up by going to the Supreme Court. Just ignore the judges and force the Dems to make the running. Sounds smart.

Federal district courts aren’t even mentioned in the US Constitution.

Mark Levin was red hot on the subject — judicial tyranny — today on Fox News.

Congress has the power to:

a) impeach activist judges.

b) abolish their jurisdictions.

GOP senators and Congressmen need to get off their arses and start cracking down on partisan wannabe politicians in the judiciary trying to usurp the executive branch of government.

This is going to get really ugly for the ‘pardonees’ if SCOTUS sides with the administration. Hiden can say he was present, but why then the need for an auto-pen?

The point is the old corpse was Non compos mentis. We know he was because the Special Counsel, Robert Sur, refused to prosecute the old bastard because he was not up to it. Ergo the old bastard could not sign documents or delegate their signing. This is game set and match. Irony of the highest order.?

Re evil ‘seed oils’.

Reply to  Eyrie
So how do Japanese and Scandinavians (to name just a couple of examples) manage to live so long?

Over the years, we have been told that everything from sugar, salt, animal fats, carbs, to the latest bogey, seed oils, are killing us. Yet, overall, people keep living longer.

Me, I am with Yogi Bear. An apple pie is much more attractive than foraging for nuts and berries.

The endless search for the magic bullet food poison du jour is wildly unscientific, but makes a lot of money for food entrepreneurs. Superfoods, anyone?

That huckster, Maggie Beer (who happens to sell olive oil) advocates using it for everything, including frying chips. That’s all very well if money is no object, plus the best temperature for good chips is more like that of peanut oil, or even safflower oil.

As I have said before, dietary ‘science’ is rivalled only by astrology.
