Then, reference is made to the growing numbers of domestic violence, suicide and, now civil unrest, throughout the pandemic . Clennell replies ” you can’t keep a community locked down forever, you’ll end up having lawlessness and that’s why we need the vaccination numbers up” FMD.
He then goes on to say that the Premier has acknowledged that “we are nearly there with vaccination numbers and that’s a shame to see violence explode so close to those rates getting up.”
This shows that the media – or at least, Sky, still don’t understand what these people feel and what their current situation is – to wait a few more weeks “until the vaccination rates get up” may take too much time for these people to survive. On top of that, there are many people who do not want the vaccination whether now or tomorrow. Why, this is not fully understood nor accepted, is beyond me.

The signs they’re holding say enough about them to determine that they are not rabble rousers. All those who’ve had ongoing secure work throughout these eighteen long months, seem to have all but forgotten that to understand another person, first you must walk a mile in their shoes.

Just before the lockdown I experienced something of this. There were a few people in a group I socialise with who were hesitant about getting jabbed. One of them announced to the whole group that she’d finally rolled up the sleeve, to which the rest of them enthusiastically congratulated her – it was a full outpouring of support with backslapping and cheering all ’round. It was a very strange spectacle to witness. I’m wondering now, once the lockdown ends, whether I’ll still be welcome. I may need to find other people to socialise with. In these new social norm days, unfortunately where I live I think I’ll be on the outer.
