Here’s my problem . And nearly everyone here has either written or supported the right of the baker refusing to bake that stupid cake for the gay wedding.

How do people reconcile that view against the right of employers to refuse work to those who don’t want to vaccinate?

This is a huge illogical cliff.

I saw one in KMart for $70 and it had good reviews.

Calli, we were in Young, NSW, when Aldi advertised their annual bread-maker sale. On a whim we wandered down to buy one and ended up in long queue just before opening time. By the time we sauntered in there was only one left, which we bought.

A cheapie, but I love it!

Lately, Best Man has taken over the bread-making. Can’t blame him. It is incredibly satisfying: the smell of the cooking loaf permeating the house, then hearing the beeps before turning out a perfectly cooked loaf.

My favourite is a sweet potato and spice loaf. His is the original plain white loaf. Both alarmingly yummy.

Go for it.

No it’s not.
1. The baker is providing the service and buyer is requesting the service.
2. The employee is providing the service and the employer is buying the service.
The right of refusal is with the supplier, not the purchaser.

Talking to the missus about getting out of Vic, but where to go?

Sfw,

In SE QLD west of the Great Divide there’s a temperate zone that basically follows the New England Hwy from the NSW border near Stanthorpe north to the South Burnett.

The main difference from Victoria climate wise is that winters are sunny and clear and spring/summer are the rainy seasons.

Plenty of good size country towns with small houses and cottages to look at while Toowoomba is the regional capital for services and has three major hospitals.

It’s one of the most socially and politically conservative regions in the country with friendly locals.

The baker didn’t refuse to bake a cake. The baker refused to decorate a cake with a pro-gay “marriage” message.
No-one’s asking employers to include Chicom vaxx-hesitant messages in their corporate mission statement, or values, or whatever.
As I recall some people did support the idea that a business should be able to refuse customers more generally, and if that’s the view someone holds then, yes, logically they’d have to ask why a business can’t also refuse to deal with employees or other suppliers.
But even in that case, it’s not illogical to be opposed to the government compelling businesses to turn away customers or employees, nor is it illogical to choose not to deal with businesses that do turn away people.
It would be illogical only if people were demanding that the government compel businesses to deal with people the business owners wanted to turn away. I haven’t seen a lot of people supporting that around here (though some people have questioned whether existing “anti-discrimination” laws might have that effect).

JC at 6:02.
I don’t equate the SSM baker issue with loss of a job.
The comparison I struggle with is the right of the baker to refuse service as against the right of a business owner to refuse service for QR codes, vax status, in fact anything.
The argument often used in support of the baker is that the customers could have gone anywhere.
Where the comparison becomes fraught is when the only supermarket or hospital in a country town refuses service.

Using a vaxx passport to get into a degustation bistro when unvaxxed are shut out of paid employment isn’t a health decision.

Well, there you go. That counts me out, for I absolutely dislike degustation. You never get enough to eat and usually it all tastes rather the same.

I totally disagree with people having to be vaxxed to be employed. I’m happy to share that disagreement far and wide too. And to chose an All Welcome place in preference to one with Vaxx Only notices. That separation of citizens smacks of apartheid to me. As it does for many other vaxxed Australians who will speak up and say they don’t want this sort of discrimination. Neither vaxxed nor unvaxxed have any special fiat on Covid anyway. It will circulate freely but the vaxxed may, I said may, not get as sick if they are in the older age ranges. A lot depends on one’s personal health situation too. All anyone can do is get back to normal living and mingle unless we want to live in fear of each other forever.

Rumble — Although the Australian government has reluctantly abandoned it’s “zero-Covid” policy, which they admit did not work, the same authoritarian mindset dominates its new strategy. If you don’t take the health policy steps demanded by the government, you will be essentially under house arrest “indefinitely.” If police brutality we have seen in Australia recently were taking place in any country on the US “enemies” list, there would be sanctions and even threats of a “liberation.”

Bernardi very good on the Fair Work decision in Kimber v Sapphire Coast where the issue was could an employee resist an employer directive to have the chunk virus vaccine where the employee had potential for severe side effects to the vaccine. He focused on the dissenting decision by DP Dean. The commissioners disagreed as to what medical evidence would satisfy the exemption under the act but Dean went into a chapter and verse analysis of the vaccines and how they differed from conventional vaccines in that the chunk virus vaccines were not intended to stop someone getting the chunk virus but to minimise the symptoms. That combined with the experimental nature of the vaccines, the fact that mainly elderly and those with relevant comorbidities are susceptible to the chunk virus and most people get through the chunk virus without any medical support meant for Dean that greater latitude should be given to those seeking exemption.

The upshot of the decision is that a person’s medical practitioner’s opinion is not sufficient to sustain an exemption and that objective evidence, whatever the fuck that is, is the criteria for exemption. Some further points here.

How do people reconcile that view against the right of employers to refuse work to those who don’t want to vaccinate?

How you possibly compare refusing to provide a service you don’t normally perform to forcing people to insert something foreign into their body to keep their job? Not in the same universe.

There are some interesting points in this video. Poor productivity, looming demographic issues, and have a huge number of military personnel doesn’t matter that much in modern warfare but has imposes huge costs on the country.

You are right, it’s an interesting video.
And here’s my ‘but’.
The Chinese armed forces are being compared to the US and its Allies.
In the same way, the conflict is being measured against the sort of scenario we would like to fight against. Yes, in a medium to high tech war, the Chinese will lose.
The Chinese leadership is increasingly moving in the direction of Mao Tse Tung and his ideology. Xi consistently demands a return to State control of everything. To me, that means China has gone through the buildup of its economy to enable it to sustain a wide ranging war – he is now culling the people who have built this industrial machine and represent a threat to his leadership.
In any war, the attacker holds most of the options – he decides the battlefield, the weapons, and the timing of the start.
The defender must prepare for the alternatives he is presented with.
Is the war going to be against South East Asia and its crop areas? Or Siberia and the Far East of Russia with the promise of the last great treasure house on the planet? Or a push to the west and the oilfields of the Arab states?
Will it be with a rapid war of movement against India and Pakistan or a mass assault using the 40 million excess HIV males?
My guess is as good as others but were I in charge of China it would be when the main enemy was weak – as the US is at present, and divided against itself.
Personally, I’d go for the south east of Asia – Vietnam, Burma, Singapore, etc after a nasty little COVID 22. A Chinese Empire stretching from Indonesia to Nepal, Mongolia to Korea, would see China unassailable for the next 100 years with all the resources, technology and industry to make Xi as great a figure as Mao.

Thanks Winston. While everyone is focused on Taiwan the problems of amphibious landings are huge and would invite retaliation from the USA and Japan. So I like your idea that they will opt for other options if only because I have previously suggested China might wait for a neighbour to undergo some serious internal disruption and use that as an excuse to invade under the pretext of restoring peace and order to that country. Watch out for the language though:

You want to sacrifice other people’s lives’ work and take the food from their childrens’ tables, and throw them all into the snow to starve because you’ll get by doing on again off again labouring work and couch surfing.

The people you’re calling collaborators are not tools of The Establishment, and you’ve seen them year after year here bagging the same group of incompetents in governments around the country. Yet here we are. Breivik and Nazis.

Is Paul Dimattina a Nazi because he reluctantly opens his businesses under crippling restrictions so he can give dozens of people jobs? Is he? What about the coffee shop the divorced mother operates on razor-thin margins? Should she burn it down in protest, live under a bridge and hawk the fork?

That makes perfect sense, seeing as they’re trying to force business to do their dirty work for them. They’ve admitted they cannot mandate vaccination. Also, that business will not (cannot?) be fined for non-discrimination. (It used to be the other way around.) The police commissioner has also said that they will not check vaccination status in venues. I’d say they have serious legal problems which they’re trying to overcome by bullying.

I need a place where you can make friends but those friends know how to give each other space, somewhere where the police are local and keep the peace rather than enforce arbitrary gov mandates, somewhere with cheap rates and good beer,

Geez I’m not asking for much, am I?

I fucking did.
Collaborators bitching because “I just wanted a Caribbean cruise before I die!”
Fuck off.
People who think resistance is without hardship!?
Lol, welcome to the real world, bitch!
Here, have a few red pills.
Yes, you’re gonna go hungry.
Yes, you’re gonna be cold.
Yes, you’re gonna be shunned.
Yes, you ain’t going to St.Martinique to see the fucking reef fish.
Fucking Australia. Bunch of pussy mofos.
But, much riches!
Lol
That’s all over.
Those who haven’t been paying attention just don’t realise it yet.
Pfft, what do you want from me?
All I’ve got for you is a shit rifle and a hard road ahead.
And probably a shitty death in a ditch.
But we Fight.
Hehe, what else you want in life?
Kiss your kids, clean your weapons and get ready, faggots

If Perrottet wins the leadership of the NSW Liberals and remains true to his previous stance on restoring freedoms and re-opening up the state (I know it’s a big ask, but we’ll see), that could be the end of this crap. Morrison will be unable to do anything because all along he’s been impotent against the state premiers. If the other state premiers continue with the controls – including mandating vaccinations like Andrews has just announced – many of their residents may just see NSW as a haven of normality and want to move. sfw, come on over!

Hmm

Thought about a side gig cleaning drains, just helped a mate out.

Turns out I am a crook after I read the rules.

You can’t even pour Draino down a sink of a property you don’t own unless you have a plumbing cert. and two years work experience.

Well. No wonder they can all afford jetskis.

It is a big a scam as tow truck driving and how I can tow a trailer heavier than a car, but I can’t tow a car.

A scam. A total scamola.

No disrespect to guys who gasfit, LP gas work, set up pipes before foundations are poured, guild guttering, etc. That’s real work that requires skill, effort and brains.

I can’t see the need for a trade cert to clean a drain pipe other than craven I’ll gotten profit taking.

If you’re going to relocate get up to Noosa. Imagine being up there when a much loved former PM dies by suicide. That man could do anything. 3 shots to the back of the head wasn’t enough to keep a good man down. Nope, a 4th was needed and that’s what done it. In 20 years you’ll have to cope with a muck raking Liz Hayes investigation just because you were in the area but they never go uncover anything new.
Nice weather too.

Getting back to Calli

The cake marker considers baking a cake for the guy dudes a very serious religious infraction which could mean to him that he won’t be getting through the pearly gates.

If he belongs to Christ, he will be with Him in paradise.

This isn’t an “entry test” for the Christian. It’s about adding to the weight of sin borne on the cross. Otherwise, we’d just sin and say “sorry”.

You don’t do that to someone you love.

Would rather wait out a return to sanity somewhere free. That’s assuming that this once great country will ever return to sanity.

Megs – if I survive this current outburst of hitlerist insanity, I’m out of here. Not giving a rodent’s if the grass turns out to be not that green over there.

At this rate I’ll end up back in the ol’ dart, probably in Liverpool, where my mum hailed from. Going and watching those mighty Reds playing live or existing here – it doesn’t seem to be much of a choice – and at least I’ll (finally) be on the same side of the planet as Miss Rowsell. 🙂

The anti-Catholic pile-on against Perrotet has already started, with a contribution from, of all people, Cheryl Kermit (remember her?). At any rate, she obviously believes that Catholic schoolboys are good for some things.

Meanwhile the Obeid-Tripodi sock puppet Keneally (‘poor little me, if only I’d known’) gets exonerated and progresses from one underserved promotion to another.

JC your 2000 era conservacorp conservatism doesn’t cut the mustard anymore. Judy’s privately owned $100,000 a year bakery on the corner not baking a cake for an over entitled over-protected by law fag activist who has come into ruin her, is a little different than billion dollar global mega corps ganging up to demand people provide their intimate medical details because their mates in the government really, really want 900% of people to be jabbed poked and prodded but can’t force it by law.
