Right now in country Victoria are there vaccine passports?

twostix

October 1, 2021 2:32 pm

There is another issue with vaccine passports

Hairdressers and many similar small businesses have been deprived of the right to earn a living for months, and have been forced to get vaccinated if they want to work on the 11 October but don’t give them a thought.

The queen of dreadful takes outdoes herself again.

The unconventional conservatism of Chinese vaccine passport systems.

“Get your vaccine passport or the hairdresser that I helped put out of business with my support for all this shit last year gets it! Think about it.”

ow I have my two sisters turning on me and if what they say is true it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to see mum if she ends up in a hospital or hospice etc.

..
My mother has been in strife since the start of this.
She’s in NZ, so I haven’t been able to go see her.
Stroke earlier this year and last week a fall resulting in a broken hip. Just out of surgery yesterday, refusing to eat or co-operate.
I’m resigned to the fact that I will never see her alive again.

But it doesn’t take many increased hospitalizations to overwhelm the system because of narrow margins

you’re missing the point, that people are racing to hospital because they think they are going to die.

just because you have the flu and feel like shit is no reason to go to hospital. gp’s can deal with it. measuring your O2 sat is simple way to see if you are getting into trouble. if you are into cytokine storm territory, simple corticosteroids can be prescribed. anyone by now who is vulnerable should have decided to be vaccinated or take their chances.

instead of being told go see your gp, the gp’s are saying if you have any symptoms stay away we don’t want to die!

it’s the greatest fear campaign in human history.

Over the past 18 months, Gladys has subjected citizens to a range of punitive & capricious rules by way of decree.
With huge penalties threatened if not adhered to.

For a period of time while premier Gladys didn’t adhere to a simple rule.
That was:
don’t do anything, as premier, that the person you’re fucking will benefit from.

Considering 2021 especially, I have zero sympathy for her (regardless of the abomination the star chamber that is ICAC is .

I would estimate that, of the 85%, less than 5% will voluntarily forego use of any passport as a gesture of solidarity.
Explain how being part of that 5% will make a scrap of difference.

You’re probably right, but you’ve just validated the point.
If more people DID jack up in solidarity, it MIGHT make a difference. It certainly won’t if they don’t.
That it probably won’t, doesn’t negate the point being made.

I beg to differ.. I’ve been quite surprised at the push-back from many I know who are quite happy to get the vax, but refuse to be involved in enforcement of passports of any kind.

They pretty much say they same thing – people’s medical situation is none of my business.

Its only the odd chicken-little who has bought into the whole paranoia who thinks it should be enforced.

Arky it was obvious last year that certain people were playing the old ‘conservative’ boomer schtick of deliberately making a faux-‘fighting’ retreat on all of this. AKA ‘we’re going to make lots of noise about this, but not actually do anything, except aggresively capitulate wholly and as soon as possible at every possible moment along the way so we suffer no social discomfort what-so-ever until this is finished and we can then quietly ease into the new social order and forget about it all forever’.

Which is fine, I guess, the problem comes in when other people actually do want to do something and are willing to take a stand, nip it in the bud say, and, with their grift now potentially exposed (how can we continue to deliberately do nothing if those people are doing something?! They’re asking us why we’re supporting this when for the last year we were saying we never would support this! Oh no! This is getting awkward! Get them!), they join up and start relentlessly hen-pecking and tearing down anyone who is making a stand. People start wondering why these people keep on making excuses, day after day about how yesterdays line in the sand is now ‘just x’. It’s ‘just two weeks’, ‘just a mask’, ‘just anzac day’, ‘just easter’, ‘just a building[church]’, ‘just a vaccine’, ‘just a job condition’ and now, today, just a passport.

It is literally the very essence of brand ‘conservatism’ bottled and delivered: 100% passive aggressive capitulation.

Riddle me this. The jabs reduce, but don’t stop the ability to transmit the virus.

Actually, no. If I understand correctly, it has the opposite effect. Because the jab reduces the symptoms in the sufferer, the viral load is higher before the illness takes hold. Therefore, there’s more, not less, scope for passing it on to others.

The sickest thing of all is it’s the complete opposite happening here: those of us with the most to lose, with young families, big mortgages, still working, still forced into the CBD’s and commutes are the ones who are refusing and chaffing most about this, and are watching as over-fed upper middle class retired shits have spent nearly two years getting all uppity when we ask, well this is us, what are you going to do about this nightmare that is being done to us for 100% your benefit?

But it doesn’t take many increased hospitalizations to overwhelm the system because of narrow margins

So why buy 20,000 ventilators if you can only staff 2,000?
The key problem is, Elf Care is a government system and they can’t let go of the normal bureaucratic protocols unless absolutely forced to.
Imagine if that earthquake last week was under Collins St with thousands injured. Further imagine images of ambulances lined up outside hospitals whilst forms were filled out in triplicate interspersed with images of people crying for help in collapsed buildings.
Would not happen.
So why are we clinging to the business-as-usual hospital model when it is anything but usual?
Intensive care for Kung Flu is not as we might imagine it for, say, a transplant or critically injured car accident victim.
It is monitoring, a limited suite of drugs and maybe oxygen.
They could have put 10,000 people through a 4 week “Covid Nurse’s Aide” course where they were specifically trained to monitor patients for a small number of symptoms and readings.
Escalate the small number whose condition worsens to more experienced staff and discharge the rest when they inevitably recover.

Biden gets another radical freak nominated to a position of power:

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/09/30/senate-confirms-joe-biden-ecoterrorist-nominee-lead-bureau-land-management/

Aside from her ecoterrorism involvement, opposition to Stone-Manning also stemmed from extremist views she held such as those found in her master’s thesis. In the thesis, she advocated for the creation of population control propaganda. Nearly 30 years after she wrote the thesis, in June 2020, Stone-Manning requested the University of Montana restrict access to it.

The controversial thesis featured one ad stating, “When we have children, the planet feels it more. Do the truly smart thing. Stop at one or two kids.” Another read, “Stop at two. It could be the best thing you do for the planet.” The latter advertisement, which identified “overpopulation” as a “problem” in America, featured a photo of a child with the caption, “Can you find the environmental hazard in this photo?”

If a person refuses to check in at your premises, you may refuse entry to that person. It is a matter for the occupier of each premises to exercise judgement on what is appropriate for your premises and for the well-being of your staff and customers.

Is this a recommendation or regulation?

It matters as if it is not backed by by legislation or delegated legislation (regulation), then it breaches the state anti discrimination Act.

I go back to my original point made some months ago that when Frewin took control of the Commonwealth’s vaccine rollout he said to Gladys that unless she locked down no-one in NSW would get jabbed and without high vaccination rates, the country could never open up without mud all over the faces of the political class (which would happen when the virus petered out to (almost) nothing).

In late June and after hardly any cases – I think it was just the one from the driver – she said that this possibly would be the worse time ever for the state. I thought – “wtf? what are you talking about?.” Her statement made no sense in the context of the actual situation, taking into consideration that cases mean nothing if illness does not eventuate in hospitalisation, and as Gladys herself had previously argued.

At her “worst time ever” statement, she went on to say, and kept saying, that “Delta is different.” Though not once did she ever really explain why that was the case – yes, her and Chant talked about greater transmissibility but that was all.

But that tack enabled her to bring in lockdowns, which forced people to close their businesses and stop them from working. Then we had the announcements that everyone had to be vaccinated and those who were not vaccinated would not have freedom, which was restated over and over again to coerce people to get jabbed.

Daniel Andrews is the worst of the current crop of premiers. However, he was and is a socialist; no-one could fail to understand what they were getting in voting for him.

Reading through the list of beliefs of the NSW Liberal Party, which I put up the other day – https://nsw.liberal.org.au/Our-Party/Our-Beliefs – shows how far the NSW Liberal Party and Gladys have moved from those beliefs. Her betrayal of the people of NSW imho therefore is even worse than what Andrews has done to Victoria: whereas he followed through on socialist philosophy, on the state’s response to the China Pestilence Gladys tore up her Liberal beliefs.

I think it was twostix upthread who said that Gladys had to bring in the vaccine passport stuff because, with the state’s increasing antipathy to him, had Andrews done it, it could never have gotten up. I only agree from the point of view that Andrews and his government are completely inept except in furthering their corruption of the political system in Victoria: they would never have got it running in any reasonable and effective sense.

Gladys and the NSW Coalition have been very good managers of the state of NSW, so were the ideal candidates to do the dirty work of the Federal Government. As well, more than likely given the rest of the states (the ones of consequence, I mean, you know who you are) would not have agreed with undertaking the rollout to assist Morrison.

But whether Gladys did what she did to provide cover to Morrison – who incidentally looked really shocked after her announcement and who tried to mount a vigorous defence of her – ultimately Gladys threw over her state and its people as well as her political beliefs for base political reasons and in doing so, she threw out the freedoms and equal citizenship of the citizens of a democratic state. I said the other day that I couldn’t bear the sight of the woman – and that had nothing to do with her looks. As Dot said, she did it to herself.

Shortly a young (mid 30′) lady accosted us and asked if she could help. Got to talking and there is strong demand from people fleeing the big smoke. Which got to the coof/vax. Said lady was vehement she wasn’t taking it and neither were her partner or 5 kids. Will retreat to the family farm if mandatory vax. Her nurse sister was working at the coast in a Covid ward. Had all of three patients come through but seeing vax injuries so not having the vax and quitting job when mandatory. She isn’t the only one.

Amongst them the whole of the Victorian judiciary, it’s servants, and the lawtrade. Interesting release, then, by the Victorian Supreme Court:

Legal challenges to directions under that Act have been brought before the courts. Those matters will be heard and determined according to law. The Courts and VCAT will therefore not be making comment or responding to inquiries that go directly or indirectly to questions of legality of the directions. Operational changes by the courts and VCAT should not be taken as expression of a judicial view about legal issues before the courts.

NSW I don’t know about.
In Victorianistan it is vague as to who bears legal responsibility.
We went across to Bendigo between LockDans 16 and 17. Sitting in a cafe and a bloke walks in loudly joking about signing in as Mickey Mouse. The cafe owner said, “That’s cool with me mate. All I have to do is place the sign-in in a prominent, accessible place and encourage sign in. It is ultimately the customer’s liability for fines if sign in isn’t done.”
I thought this was bluff by the cafe owner, but reading the rules later, I think he might have been correct. In typical DHHS fashion, it was as clear as mud in a beer bottle, but it seemed to support what he said. At worst they would both be liable.
In any case, I don’t stress about sign-ins at Colesworth, but I refuse to put more pressure on already stressed businesspeople and their staff.

Alarmism has been around for a long time and as with everything left it’s characteristics are propaganda, aggression and intolerance; part of the alarmists’ intolerance is a compulsion to prosecute and destroy sceptics; here’s a sample:

Legalists’ demands to kill climate skeptics, end capitalism and cut population:
In 2005
? Margo Kingston, in Australia’s Daily Briefing, said: “Perhaps there is a case for making climate change denial an offence. It is a crime against humanity, after all.”
In 2006
? Bill McGuire, Professor of “Climate Change Impacts” at University College, London, said: “We have Holocaust deniers; we have climate change deniers. And, to be honest, I don’t think there’s a great deal of difference”;
? The Grist.com website called for Nuremberg-style trials for climate skeptics (though the article was later retracted);
? Heidi Cullen featured Dave Roberts, who said online, “When we’ve finally gotten serious about global warming, when the impacts are really hitting us and we’re in a full worldwide scramble to minimize the damage, we should have war crimes trials for these bastards – some sort of climate Nuremberg”;
? Mark Lynas, a “green” columnist often published in The Guardian, a London legalist newspaper, wrote: “I wonder what sentences judges might hand down at future international criminal tribunals on those who will be partially but directly responsible for millions of deaths from starvation, famine and disease in decades ahead. I put [their climate change denial] in a similar moral category to Holocaust denial – except that this time the Holocaust is yet to come, and we still have time to avoid it. Those who try to ensure we don’t will one day have to answer for their crimes”;
? Spiked Online reported that when a correspondent for the American current affairs show 60 Minutes was asked why his various feature programs on global warming did not include the views of global warming sceptics, he replied: “If I do an interview with Elie Wiesel, am I required as a journalist to find a Holocaust denier?”;
? The UK’s Foreign Secretary said climate skeptics should be denied access to the news media, following a much-publicized article in the Sunday Telegraph by the present author drawing attention to defects in official climate science.

From Advance Australia:

What is wrong with the Liberal party?
Just one week after the Prime Minister announced a new deal to deliver nuclear submarines that will improve our ability to defend ourselves in the coming decades – all his backbench can talk about is climate change.
In a concerted campaign to spread their climate hysteria from one end of the country to the other, inner-city Liberal MPs have been mouthing off about the need for the Coalition to adopt a zero-emissions target by 2050.
Why do the likes of Liberal MP’s Dave Sharma, Julian Simmonds and Trent Zimmerman think that fluctuating weather is a greater threat than the Chinese Communist Party who have the means and intent to dominate our part of the world?
Simmonds, just this week went on the record to say climate change is a top-line national security issue comparable to the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal with the US. If that’s what you really think Julian, then perhaps you should consider running for the Greens at the next election.
The Chinese Communist Party must be laughing at us. The money being wasted on schemes generated by climate change hysteria is the biggest scam the world has ever seen, and China is taking full advantage.
While we dismantle our coal-fired power stations and become weaker, China builds coal-fired power stations and becomes stronger.
They couldn’t give a damn about net emissions targets.
They use climate change politics as a strategic tool to weaken their enemies.
You and I both know China is bringing online so much coal-fired power generation it won’t make a lick of difference how much carbon Australia emits.
As Nationals Senate Leader Bridget McKenzie said this week, a 2050 zero-emission target is “the worst kind of vacuousness over values”.
“It is easy for the Member for Kooyong [Josh Frydenberg] or the Member for Wentworth [Dave Sharma] to publicly embrace net zero before the government has a position, because there would be next to zero real impact on the way of life of their affluent constituents,” she said.
And she’s right. Net-zero will hit the vast majority of normal Australians, not the wealthy inner-city elites. Not only will power prices continue to rise but according to the Institute for Public Affairs, 661,000 Australian jobs would be put at risk by a zero-emissions economy.
But inner-city elites couldn’t give a damn if some uneducated climate denier in the burbs can’t pay their power bills or loses a good paying job in a factory.
You know why?
Because they consider themselves superior to us. We don’t count.
What really matters to them, is that their neighbours and friends sing their praises for being such virtuous global citizens for refusing to use takeaway coffee cups and for posting feel-good green platitudes on their social media pages.
For the elites, it’s easier to pander to climate hysteria than to face a real problem like the one brewing as China flexes its muscles.
A plan to tackle carbon in 2050, but no plan to deal with China today.
It’s a deal no mainstream Australian will be happy with.

With the libs each candidate has to be chosen carefully on the basis of their position on this bullshit. If the LNP candidate in your electorate is a greenie then its Palmer or one of the other smaller parties. If the liars get in it’s all over red rover.

When mum saw me, she laughed! Hers is driving her crazy too. I did offer…but she declined.

Not sure what the most interesting thing about this local news report is: that health workers are publicly protesting against mandatory vaccination, or that someone from the MSM is reporting this.

CENTRAL COAST JOINS NATIONAL PROTEST ACTION (Ncl local tv news, 1 Oct)

150 health people protesting at The Entrance, half way between Sydney and Ncl suggests there’re a lot of very unhappy health wukkas out there. ScoMo’s edict is going to go down like a cow dropped from Centrepoint Tower.

this theme seems to be widespread
——-
The policy responses to Covid have been awful, but those failures are utterly dwarfed by the energy and supply chain policy inactions that are bringing us into a very dark winter. An energy crisis is roiling across the UK and Europe on the cusp of winter, and the rest of the world is on the horizon. It’s already being felt in the UK, Europe, China, Russia, and the U.S.

In the UK, the media is chalking up the energy crisis to consumer panic buying and truck driver shortages, but this blames everyday citizens for what is actually a much deeper structural problem and bungling executed by government policies. A more accurate explanation acknowledges the origins of the current energy crisis in a predictable outcome of the failure to invest in the production of oil and supply stability during the COVID-19 mismanagement and shutdowns.

While the governing elite will have you believe the crisis is as “transitory” as the inflation they themselves create through central bankers’ monetary policies, it would be foolish to take them at their word. A major economic shock is guaranteed at this point in the story – one that will disproportionately impact the middle and lower classes.

Talking to the missus about getting out of Vic, but where to go? I like seasons, worked in PNG for a while and the tropical heat is ok but the novelty wears off after a while. Anyway, thinking about FNQ and accepting the heat, maybe Tassie. I would look overseas but she won’t go that far so Andorra is out. We have enough to live ok and buy a smallish house. So any suggestions? I know Tasmania is a strange place with more than enough lefties and even stranger people but so far it seems to have escaped the totalitarian mindset.

FNQ is you are used to the heat but have a look at SE Qld. Depends on your preference SFW. Brisbane is not a nice city but SE Qld and northern NSW have many pleasant regional centers. Housing prices have skyrocketed though and you may find it difficult to find a place to buy. Some southerners are resorting to temp accommodation until they can score. I know nothing about real estate so cannot tell if the market has peaked but I’d be amazed if the current price surge continues. The hinterland of the Sunshine Coast is pleasant and possibly not as much in demand as coastal areas. Maleny is a hippie hold out but there are smaller towns in the area which are pleasant and close to Nambour, the major regional hub there.

Don’t know about Tassie but some friends moved there a few years ago and love it.

Tasmania, SFW, is full of leftie loonies these days who chant mindlessly about “the environment”… They block development, and expect the feds to bail them out endlessly.

The weather is appalling for about four months of the year: cold and wet, but not enough rain to be useful, just annoying.

Makka is right about the Atherton Tablelands behind Cairns – we’re there on holiday at present.

Northern NSW is said to be excellent weather.

All depends on how much cold/heat you can tolerate when it comes to regional centres. Inland cities are great, but freezing in winter.

I went through all this when looking to move out of Sydney a decade ago. NSW coastal anywhere north of Newcastle is the pick, house prices are rising but still affordable, climate good without excess humidity.

South Coast (where my heart is) is lovely, but infested with entitled Canberra retirees on defined benefits. Erk. A no-go if you want your blood pressure low.

Exhibiting your bwavado in front of a stressed out cafe waitress is the act of an arsehole.
Get a placard, break the 10-15 km limit,.take it to your state Premier and cop the fine yourself.
Like Mickey Mouse in the Bendigo cafe, usually the bwavado evaporates when it isn’t a little kid in front of them, or the $5 large might be coming out of their kick.
Feel free in rural Queensssland where business has been largely unaffected. But to do that to a small business owner in Victoria who has had 18 months of it and is hanging on by his fingernails is the act of a complete arsewipe.

I do hope that the government pollies have woken up to the unpopularity of the covid measures and pending passports etc.

I think what they’re waking up to is the latest growth figures and the realisation that their monomania about the ‘flu has blinded them to the damage they’re doing to the economy.
My bet is that nearly all the supply issues and other damage has been done by the political/managerial classes and the brightest have seen the bill being made up to their accounts.
