Biden Cruises Rome with 85-Car Motorcade Before ‘Climate’ Summit (30 Oct)

People who are self-conscious of dubious legitimacy will hide it with excessive display, hoping to keep the focus there and benefit from the associations people make between trappings and substance.

Once you notice though you can never go back, and the ostentatious display underscores the lack of legitimacy.

The Napoleon complex is a common instance – the guy who feels he is not imposing enough being pushy and shouty. Or the people who have just managed to scrape into a nice neighbourhood who try too hard to prove they belong there.

I love this.

Since 95% of work safety and HR is all about protecting corporations from litigation and government, his world view is clouded by that viewpoint.
The actual safety of human beings – not so much. Hence his myopia about the effect of vaccination on real people.

Not sure if this one has been posted already, a brilliant article from Gerard Baker of the Wall Street Journal in today’s Australian.

For privileged progressives, ‘we’ means ‘you’
Gerard Baker

If there’s a defining feature of modern progressives’ self-image, it’s the idea that — by dint of their supposedly superior education, their association with like-minded members of global elites and their immersion in the various rites of the contemporary secular religion — they are more knowledgeable and virtuous than you, the inferior classes.

Democratic leaders, and the academic, corporate and media people who sustain them, nurture their luxury beliefs, comfortable in the conviction of their own moral supremacy.

We shouldn’t be surprised. There’s been a social revolution in this country and the wider West in the past 50 years in which, by a remarkable inversion, the left — which used to represent the interests of the outsiders, the disadvantaged — is in almost total control of the institutions of the establishment.

They are the masters now. And like masters through most of history — from tribal chiefs to Roman patricians, absolutist monarchs and totalitarian tyrants — their superiority is such that the rules they make don’t apply to them.

It’s been on display most clearly in the past year over Covid-19. A succession of Democratic leaders have sternly told us to stay home and masked while supping maskless in fancy restaurants, enjoying exclusive privileges in hair salons, or partying with fellow progressives in jazz clubs.

It’s been evident in the year of hectoring we’ve received from our leaders about the inherent racism of the American system.

When fabulously privileged white progressives talk about the evils of white privilege, don’t think they’re talking about themselves. They are morally excluded from such judgments because they subscribe to all the right nostrums about diversity, equity and inclusion. They mean you.

Giant companies run by white chief executives, who live in a luxury and security no colonist oppressor could have dreamed of, feel free to lecture Americans on their loathsome prejudices. Just don’t ask them to make way for any of the oppressed people they profess to champion.

Our masters’ doubletalk will be on full display in the next week or two at the COP26 climate summit, when politicians, chief executives and leaders of environmental groups will deliver their grave warnings about the sacrifices that must be made to save the planet from extinction.

You’ve seen it already in simple acts of hypocrisy such as President Biden driving through Rome last week in an 85-car motorcade to show up at the Vatican for a meeting in which he and Pope Francis solemnly pledged to fight the “climate crisis”.

Or in the spectacle of tens of thousands of people flying into Glasgow, staying for weeks in comfortably warm, well-lit hotels through a darkening autumn, sustained no doubt by a stream of finely produced victuals. Never in the field of human confabs was so much salmon smoked by so many for so few.

You’ve seen it too in a president who shuts down natural-gas pipelines in the US not long after his son, on the basis of no expertise whatever, has collected millions of dollars for attending the occasional board meeting of one of eastern Europe’s largest natural-gas companies.

That continuing assault on US fossil-fuel production happens at the same time as the Biden administration nods approvingly at a Russian pipeline that will supply gas to Europe.

The ultimate demonstration of the gulf between our leaders’ alarmist prescriptions and the reality of life for the rest of us can be witnessed in an energy crisis that is pushing up fuel bills for hard-pressed working people, thanks in large part to policies that have prematurely reduced gas production, inexplicably killed off nuclear power in countries like Germany, and made our fragile economy dependent on wind power when the wind doesn’t blow and solar power when the sun don’t shine.

The higher costs of energy fall disproportionately on the poor and middle class, for whom it represents a sizeable proportion of their total spending. For the laid-off coal miner in Appalachia or the family struggling to meet its heating bills in a freezing Midwestern winter, the climate demands we’ll hear so much about in the next few weeks have a much more immediate impact than for the proliferating crowd of well-heeled “ESG” investors.

“Folks, we all have that obligation — that obligation to our children and to our grandchildren,” Mr Biden said last week, addressing the climate crisis. But the words need careful parsing. In the newspeak of progressive sanctimony, pronouns are different. In this case, “we” means you.

Roughly translated, Mr Biden says: My obligation is to talk at length about moral imperatives, to cite ever more alarmist scenarios about the threat we face and to commit to ever grander projects and spending plans for which I get slapped on the back for my courage over lavish dinners in international hotels and blessed in papal palaces.

Your obligation is to pay for it.

Love the line “Never in the field of human confabs was so much salmon smoked by so many for so few.”

Developing evidence suggests that an intrinsic component of the innate immune system called toll-like receptors, tasked with recognising and activating the immune system to respond to bacteria and viruses, may be altered after vaccination. That alteration may hamper the immune system’s ability to detect and act appropriately against SARS-CoV-2 — inducing, in part, an Immune Tolerance, and increasing the risk of significant infection.

Stop criticising the 80-odd car motorcade for President Hiden.
2 cars for him – one a multi tonne, armour plated, stretch limo as benefits his status plus a duplicate back up vehicle in case the cigarette tray gets full. Flown to Glasgow by the biggest freight mover the USAF can muster.
40 cars to accompany him, full of secret service personnel plus assorted SWAT teams, Green Berets, SEAL teams and pooper-scoopers.
Another 40 cars needed because the Covid restrictions won’t allow more than 3 people in one car at a time.
It all adds up.

BREAKING: Researchers In Peer-Reviewed Study Call For “IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL of mRNA COVID Vaccines For Use in Pregnancy, Those Breastfeeding, Those Of Childbearing Age and Children”

This ‘peer reviewed’ report is just a rehash of the original Shimabukuro et al preliminary cohort study of 827 pregnancies of an enrolled cohort of 35,691. A breakdown on the sub-cohort of 827 suggests that, as only a small number of <20 weeks were included, the figure of 104 spontaneous abortions was therefore inexplicably present, was in error, and did not apply to the cohort. Thus all results presented suggesting spontaneous abortion at 81% at <20 weeks were unreliable and the figure of 104 spontaneous abortions was in fact incomplete against a wider denominator. The New England Journal of Medicine indicated in an editorial that this unreliability existed (egg on their peer-reviewing faces). A later examination of anothr sub-cohort of 1224 pregnancies innoculated at <20 weeks indicated a rate of sponataneous abortion commensurate with the natural population (the latter a difficult figure to determine absolutely anyway) but further studies are needed as this further information was still only a preliminary conclusion. Sloppy reportage by Shimabukuro et al has caused a lot of avoidable problems but the mistake has been admitted and the early high level of results re spontaneous abortion abstracted from their cohort data do not stand. Fortunately, other incoming studies do show a high level of safety.

The study linked above moves on to an examination of the blood-clotting issues associated with free spike proteins, and draws conclusions and hence recommendations about a biological pathway for sponataneous abortion and pregnancy foetal damage that others would dispute due to lack of confirming epidemiological evidence of damages. More data would always be welcome.

I've said enough on this previously. Not all epidemiology is good. But it is NOT PROVEN that there is a c 82% risk of spontaneous abortion in the <20 weeks gestational period. That is a figure abstracted from recognizably corrupted data.

He has improved on President Obama’s.

Working on the premises that (as mentioned above) ‘paternity’ means ‘custody’, and also that the crook currently in the bin actually has no connection to the family, then probably not.

The family were camping and not otherwise connected to the area. For the disputed custody scenario to play out, either Mum or Dad would have to have:

1. Planned a fake abduction for some time;
2. Approached some random in a very small town – which comprises, in part at least, an enclave of 20 registered sex offenders – and arranged for the bloke to kidnap the child in the middle of the night;
3. Ensured the other parent was absolutely asleep and would not wake to the sound of weird noises or somesuch; and
4. At some future point faked their own death (having previously created a separate identity) and then recovered the child from said sex offender convention in a town halfway up the WA coast, because that is the only way that parent could expect to live with the child, who would also have to have a new identity created, without interference.

Or – or, that parent may just have expected to pop up, with the child in tow in a houso neighbourhood two months from now, and expecting life to go on as normal with no questions asked.

So, in all likelihood, no.

Australia refuses to join global pledge led by US and EU to cut methane emissions

Australia joins China, Russia, India and Iran – some of the biggest methane emitters — as those who refused to join the global push.

Luckily, an adult is at hand to complain:

Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said it was “a pity” the government did not sign up to the pact and described Australia’s position at COP26 as “disappointing”.

And Justin Trudeau is there to explain the horror consequences of Australian irresponsibility:

“It’s [methane] also an air pollutant that’s responsible globally for half a million deaths and hundreds of thousands of asthma-related hospitalizations annually,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said. “That’s why Canada welcomes the Global Methane Pledge.”

So, poison gas.

Yet still the timid are masked and he has to get permission from his managers to call a face-to-face meeting on the few days he is allowed back in at work. This is called learning to live with it, he says cynically.

Wanna come see pee-pee, says my son heading for the bathroom, as they are in the process of training the little fellow to get out of nappies, and dad provides the exemplar of how to do it. Shrieks now because the ‘show’ is over. Lunch is done and my son is going to walk him in the stroller for his morning nap as there are signals of a tired child. Phew. Fairfax County, a heavily Democrat stronghold where they started the day by illegally turning away non-masked voters, now announces that their voting results will be “delayed”.

Yah. Here we go.

Apparently the postals and early votes were meant to be counted before the cut off time and the drop was meant to happen early in the count. Obviously not…

Reid Epstein, Reporting from Northern Virginia 53m ago

Fairfax County is delayed in reporting its early vote ballots. We do not know when we are expecting those ballots to be counted, but it will not be by the self-imposed 8 p.m. deadline.

And we’re being primed for that result:

Reid Epstein, Reporting from Northern Virginia 52m ago

Fairfax is usually among Virginia’s last counties to report final results in statewide elections and has in past elections given Democratic candidates a boost at the end of election nights.

This was the original expectation:

When will we know the results?
Hopefully quickly. Virginia passed a new law requiring counties to pre-process absentee ballots before the election, which should allow officials to report the result of the advance vote soon after the polls close. Pre-election polls show Mr. McAuliffe leading among early voters, so he might take an early lead if counties report the early vote first, like most states with similar laws.

Mr. Youngkin is expected to win the Election Day vote, and he would slowly whittle Mr. McAuliffe’s early advantage away if the race is close. If there’s no decision after the Election Day vote is tabulated, which should be done on election night, it could be days before the state counts provisional or late arriving mail ballots. And those could arrive by Thursday if postmarked on or before Election Day.

Note – it also appears that a lot of voters are being turned away for not masking and other COVID safe measures.

Faiz Siddiqui, 41, who trained as a lawyer with a top legal firm, says he is completely dependent on his elderly mother and father.

For years they have given him handouts and put him up rent free in a £1million flat they own near Hyde Park.

But after a family falling-out, his ‘long-suffering’ parents, who live in Dubai, cut their support.

Mr Siddiqui – backed by top human rights lawyers – sued his parents in a first-of-its-kind test case in the UK.

But now judges in the Court of Appeal have thrown out his claim, saying that married parents have ‘no legal duty to support their adult children’.

No. The origin of the universe being a singular event and not remotely like anything that has happened since is not likely to be explicable in terms of our experience.

This is special pleading. The first instances of life, consciousness, intelligence, would also be singular events. Are we going to argue that the principles of causality, sufficient reason, and the like, don’t apply there too?

Well I leapt to the birth of Christ as the other most singular event.
However, I think the claim that ‘our experience’ is inadequate for understanding the Creation/Big Bang moment is pretty difficult to falsify. Causality, sufficient reason, and the like are helpful in attempting to understand it; direct experience probably not.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/nov/03/coalition-split-over-religious-discrimination-bill-with-one-mp-having-serious-concerns-over-folau-clause

Cash, who took over the bill’s progress from Christian Porter when she became attorney general in March, is now consulting on a third iteration of the draft legislation in an attempt to overcome internal resistance and fulfil an election promise.

Three issues are understood to face some resistance within the party room: the inclusion of a “Folau clause” that would give legal protection to someone expressing a statement of belief; conscientious objection provisions that would allow health practitioners to refuse to provide certain treatment; and the ability for religious institutions to discriminate against staff on the basis of religion to maintain a “faith-based ethos”.

The Australian Christian Lobby has boasted it successfully pressured the government into including a Folau clause – a provision that would legally protect an individual from having their employment terminated as a result of them expressing their religious views. The issue gained prominence after footballer Israel Folau was sacked by Rugby Australia for social media posts suggesting homosexuals, adulterers, atheists and other “sinners” would go to hell.

Liberal MP Warren Entsch, who attended one of a number of briefings with Cash this week, said he did not support the Folau clause.

“I just have serious concerns about a number of issues in relation to it [the bill] and the Folau clause is a major concern,” Entsch told Guardian Australia.

He said his position had not changed after previously indicating he would not support a bill that “reimposed” any discrimination through a religious discrimination act.

Other MPs and senators, including Andrew Bragg, Dean Smith, Tim Wilson and Dave Sharma are understood to hold similar reservations.

In the gruinaid world this is seen as indefensible.

“I think it was Monday we saw him in Woolworths buying nappies and that but we didn’t click on who it was or what he was buying them for, who was buying for but, until now,” he said.

The same man witnessed the arrest overnight.

“We stood back and waited but after that, we saw someone, on the detective’s shoulder. We thought it might be the little girl, which it was. I went closer to the detective’s car and I saw her in the back of the car with the Detective, he was holding her,” he said.

Youngkin’s won. He’s too far ahead to lose from here. There’s only so many votes Fairfax can ‘find’. For Fairfax alone to put McAuliffe over, they’ll have to submit hundreds of thousands more votes than there are registered voters in that county and this just won’t fly. So why the pause? Well, I’m sure they’re all desperately calling all of the other shady Dem operatives in other counties to see if there is any viable path to victory they can cobble together. It’s worth a try but Rosie O’Donnell’s taking a deep breath.

If Murphy loses (I doubt he will) then the Dems need to stop panicking and bite down hard on their cyanide ampules, because it’s bunker time.

Republicans only filled 35% of available observer/scrutineer positions. This time they have 95% coverage.

Unbelievable as it sounds, from 1982 until 2017 the Republican Party was forbidden by law from poll-watching or contesting any elections due to suspected vote fraud.

The Judge who made the original decree renewed it every year until he croaked. So in their defense, the Reps as an institution may have forgotten how.

Watch the whole interview here:
https://youtu.be/Tr3ghb6JG6A ]

Garbage. Lennox has nothing useful to say.

All our experience of the universe is derived from long after it came into existence. So we conclude that nothing can come out of nothing because we’ve never seen it happen. That doesn’t mean it couldn’t have happened once a longish time ago.

You’re happy to buy lousy arguments because you want to. This is extremely vulgar.

“extremely vulgar’, is your angry repeating of nonsense in lieu of an actual counter argument.

Serious people, including atheists and agnostics, stopped being bullied into accepting atheists old, massively short of new data, ‘reasoning’ long ago.

“Mathematical Challenges to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noj4phMT9OE&t=177s&ab_channel=HooverInstitution
Based on new evidence and knowledge that functioning proteins are extremely rare, should Darwin’s theory of evolution be dismissed, dissected, developed or replaced with a theory of intelligent design?

Has Darwinism really failed? Peter Robinson discusses it with David Berlinski, David Gelernter, and Stephen Meyer, who have raised doubts about Darwin’s theory in their two books and essay, respectively The Deniable Darwin, Darwin’s Doubt, and “Giving Up Darwin” (published in the Claremont Review of Books).

Robinson asks them to convince him that the term “species” has not been defined by the authors to Darwin’s disadvantage. Gelernter replies to this and explains, as he expressed in his essay, that he sees Darwin’s theory as beautiful (which made it difficult for him to give it up): “Beauty is often a telltale sign of truth. Beauty is our guide to the intellectual universe—walking beside us through the uncharted wilderness, pointing us in the right direction, keeping us on track—most of the time.” Gelernter notes that there’s no reason to doubt that Darwin successfully explained the small adjustments by which an organism adapts to local circumstances: changes to fur density or wing style or beak shape. Yet there are many reasons to doubt whether Darwin can answer the hard questions and explain the big picture—not the fine-tuning of existing species but the emergence of new ones. Meyer explains Darwinism as a comprehensive synthesis, which gained popularity for its appeal. Meyer also mentions that one cannot disregard that Darwin’s book was based on the facts present in the 19th century.”
