I’m really shocked at the kid of salaries an a kid just out of MBA school ( decent one) can pull on their first job in the US. My kid is just finishing up in December and received 4 job offers. Her total comp is 2.75 times what she was earning pre MBA. The course is okay, but also kind of crappy at the same time. I think it helps employers figure out who are potentially the smarter kids.

Peak oil in terms of the extraction technology used at the time the comment is made has some validity. It’s not the oil is in short supply. It’s the way its extracted or the field is exhausted and it becomes uneconomic to take out oil.
Pennsylvania was where it was at in the US when oil began to become important. Extraction ended there because it ran dry with the technology at the time. The oil patch moved elsewhere. Ironically fracking has brought it back to Penn.

I am, CL, but Covid and locked borders has caused an acute labour shortage in the WA wheatbelt.
Last year I was press ganged into working the wheat harvest dragging a chaser bin around as the Boss’s alternative was pretty much letting the crop rot in the paddock.
I didn’t break any machinery, burn too much fuel or call in sick, so I was begged to repeat the exercise this year as once again the WA border shutdown has caused another labour shortage.
I am being well paid, and fed and watered daily, picked up and dropped back off at Casa Pedro.
The header is being driven by a 17 y.o boy (who is very competent), me, the old bloke on the chaser bin and the grain truck driven by a 22 y.o slip of a girl who has to sit on a cushion to see over the dash.
