Lunchtime at Cafe Bruce (he was hungry). The young blue-faced honeyeater who learned secret of taking food from waiter’s hand yesterday was back several times in the morning for more. Well done kiddo! And a very special birdie arrived: a female koel. She visited exactly once last season, and a whole year later was here again this morning. I think she’d seen the currawongs waiting for theirs, and made the connection. She accepted 3 lumps of mince from my hand and was happy. Pretty amazing that a bird with a brain the size of a pea who has since been to PNG and back twice can remember a single human two years later.

Calli, what’s to stop some scamp calling the authorities — don’t I hate that word — and reporting Spotlight for allowing the unvaxxed to shop there? You know, give them some of the same grief they’re obediently inflicting on others.

In fact, why wouldn’t such a person report other businesses too, and get his or her cobbers to report even more of them. That would overload the system and make it absolutely unworkable.

Illegal, of course, and I would never, ever urge such a course. But the fact is there are many scamps who might and would.

Election?
Flick ’em.
I like the idea of the Sitting Member last as a tool to get local members ‘engaged’ with our issues.
Thump a ream of printed flyers on the desk, six months before the election. The flyers call for people to consider the political parties’ performances and take action as appropriate;
Print a ream of flyers; flop them on the Members’ desk. Tell him you plan to:
1) Letterbox the flyers and as many more as you can afford to do. Use social media appropriately.
2) Volunteer for the person most likely to unseat the incumbent.
3) Donate to the above person.
4) Flyers ask if the reader is happy? IF not, print a ream of flyers and drop on the Members’ desk, volunteer and donate for someone else and using social media recruit people, then vote sitting member last.

In WA there are a LOT of disposable ALP MLA’s… As to MHRs, I am pretty damn unimpressed with our Liberals over the last 2 years.

Police allege the 67-year-old woman was walking along Roosevelt Ave, Riverwood at about 7.20pm on Sunday, when she was set upon by a man with a knife.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and found the woman with multiple stab wounds to her torso and back. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, she died at the scene.

When I was growing up, family friends lived across the road from the Salt Pan Creek, and we often visited. It was a quiet, working/lower middle class neighbourhood where crime was something you read about in the paper.

It is now taken over by members of the ROP, and the few remaining residents from the old days are paying the price.

If you read down, the family of the perp are making it all about themselves, and what a lovely bloke he was. Pity about the victim. 🙁

Newly minted People’s Democratic Republic of Barbados (whose politicians are so committed to the democratic process that they didn’t bother to put the republic question to a referendum) is reported to have one of the highest public debt to GDP ratios in the world.

Experts at the University of the WI blame the island’s chattel slavery past (!), the collapse of its sugar industry and the subsequent emigration of working folk. Those who remain to foot the bill, many of whom worked in tourism until covid came along, point to the government’s spendthrift ways, financed mostly by debt.

They’re going to need a lot of Renminbi to pay it back.

How can you not love Trump?

Trump calls General Milley ‘a f*cking idiot’

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump called “woke” General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “a f*cking idiot” at an event Saturday.

Trump made the remark at an event in Mar-a-Lago hosted by conservative organization Turning Point Action, a C4 affiliate of Turning Point USA.

In reference to the withdrawal from Afghanistan, Trump said, “I want every nut, every bolt, every screw. We’re taking everything. We’re taking down the tents. They left all the tents. They left everything. Couldn’t they have flown in a couple of hundred pilots and flown the planes back?” Trump asked, pivoting to grill Milley. Human Events Daily’s Jack Posobiec got the scoop.

Trump recounted when Milley said, “Sir, sir. It’s cheaper to leave the equipment than to bring it.” Trump listed the millions of dollars of brand new equipment.

“You think it’s cheaper to leave it there so they can have it than it i to fill it up with a half a tank of gallon…” Trump questioned. “That’s when I realized he was a f*cking idiot,” Trump said. The audience then exploded in laughter.

In recent months, Trump has slammed Milley as “a complete nut job” who put the United States “in a very dangerous position.” Trump has also called for the “dumbass” to be tried for treason while 130 retired US military generals and admirals have signed a letter calling for Milley’s resignation.

After the general defended critical race theory studies, Trump has noted that Milley’s greatest fear is “upsetting the woke mob.” GOP lawmakers have expressed widespread concern about discussions regarding “white rage” at West Point.

“I’ve read Mao Zedong, I’ve read Karl Marx, I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist,” Milley claimed. “So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend? And I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers, our commissioned, non-commissioned officers of being, quote, ‘woke’ or something else, because we’re studying some theories that are out there.”

Trump’s repeated condemnation of Milley follows reports that surfaced alleging that during the last few months of the Trump administration, Milley contacted China’s top military commander to reassure that if the United States were to attack China, he would warn the foreign power in advance.

After the allegations broke that Milley undermined Trump, the White House responded with full confidence in the Biden administration’s top general. Milley has maintained that “China is not an enemy” to the United States.

Among other blunders, Milley had called the mistaken US drone strike in Afghanistan that killed 10 civilians, including seven children, “righteous.”

So clear, so inappropriate, so crisp and so, so right.

Trump is still God.

If you do not want to receive a vaccination because you are opposed to it, this is unlikely to be a sufficient basis to lodge a discrimination or human rights complaint.

Just like Stasi East Germany. There have always been snitches in Australia – but they are really coming out of the woodwork now. This is not the first time I have heard this happening. They are too cowardly to front you in person.

As yet, I have not been challenged by acquaintances. They know they will get a “mouthful” back. Closest we have come is with a Sydney neighbour who, a few months back, suggested (in an email) that it was unwise that we have a glass of wine together on the front lawn “because we may be reported”. He got a pretty “mouthy” email in response about craven responses to discrimination. He has been very conciliatory ever since.

Bet you didn’t know that Barbabos has a prison? .. I didn’t until the late 1990s when an aunt of my ex wife’s was serving 20 years for drug dealing .. She was, in her day (1980s) , one of the biggest financiers of drug imports into NSW mixed it with Ian Hall Saxon & others .. she made the mistake of visiting Hall in Long Bay dressed to the nines (as per usual) and aroused the suspicions of certain drug squad officers who then paid a midnight visit to her waterfront manse in Hunters Hill ransacked the place but found little of value (she wasn’t that stupid .. LOL) .. following day she did a runner and completely disappeared .. nothing more was heard of her until 1999 when she contacted her mother (ex’s grandmother) & told her to sell everything she’d left as she needed money to pay her lawyer & cover her .. I’ve just escaped from Barbados … expenses & the paperwork to come home .. and like any, good life, Oz criminal she was back in Sydney within 6 months & on the rorters pension living in Mittagong .. tho if still alive she’d be in her mid 80s now …..
the drug importing was just a hobby for her as she enjoyed mixing with low lifes .. she’d already made oodles of money, legitimately, as an art/antique expert doing whatever artz experts do …..

Only in France – an aspiring, so called “far Right”, presidential candidate with Arabic- Jewish roots.

Long before Eric Zemmour announced his candidacy for president of France, English-language publications were comparing him to Donald Trump : a provocateur on the far right with hard-line views on immigration; a well-known TV personality with no previous governing experience, whose success in the polls surprised established politicians.

The comparison is convenient but facile. Messrs. Zemmour and Trump emerged from different political traditions and appeal to very different sensibilities.

Mr. Trump differentiated himself from a crowded 2016 Republican field by championing populist positions to which both major parties had given short shrift. Mr. Zemmour hasn’t drawn new attention to issues the French establishment prefers to ignore. He is capitalizing on a longstanding and popular political platform and using his credentials as a member of the French elite to package it in a more sophisticated way. That’s a sharp contrast with Mr. Trump, who operated as an outsider, and a boorish one at that.

More than 25% of French voters sympathize with the extreme right, which for the past decade has been represented by Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally (formerly the National Front). Ms. Le Pen failed in two presidential runs. Her attempts at moderating many positions put off many supporters without expanding her voter base. The National Rally’s history of equivocating about the Holocaust, along with its ideological roots in Vichy France, have made the party a tough sell to most voters. Ms. Le Pen is also a career politician with generational wealth who has never personally confronted the economic hardship and immigration-related fears that drive many of her voters.

All this (combined with a disastrous debate performance against Emmanuel Macron in 2017) has compounded doubts about Ms. Le Pen’s ability to lead, and to win. It has also created an opportunity for a leadership challenge on the far right.

Enter Mr. Zemmour, a man with many attributes that Ms. Pen lacks. Unlike Ms. Le Pen, Mr. Zemmour is cultured, well-read and a skilled debater. He graduated from Sciences Po Paris, France’s school for the political and journalistic elite, and went on to forge close relationships with leading French politicians and intellectuals over the course of his journalistic career. In recent years, Mr. Zemmour has hosted a successful prime-time show on the 24-Hour news channel CNews that also let him demonstrate this prowess to the general public, as he debated dozens of prominent intellectuals and politicians—think “Firing Line,” not “The Apprentice.” While he didn’t win every debate, Mr. Zemmour typically commanded the stage eloquently.

Mr. Zemmour’s personal and religious background is also an asset. Raised in the modest Parisian suburb of Montreuil, he witnessed firsthand the rise of Muslim immigration and its impact. That gives him authority when he talks about the troubles of such communities. Mr. Zemmour’s Jewish family forcibly fled Algeria because of Muslim Arab persecution. His ties to North Africa lend legitimacy to his anti-Arab and anti-Muslim positions. And despite his apologies for Vichy and calls to preserve France’s Christian roots, his Jewish identity and membership in a synagogue give him relative immunity from the accusations of anti-Semitism usually aimed at the far right.

Mr. Zemmour’s political evolution resonates with many French voters. Initially a Socialist, he left the party when it abandoned its assimilationist immigration stance. He then held a political ideology similar to that of Jean-Pierre Chevènement, a government minister in the 1980s and ’90s, which centered on fostering stronger adherence to the Republic and its values to create a uniquely French cultural foundation. Mr. Zemmour turned away from that view on concluding that the French Republic had become ravaged by ethnic and religious tensions. Today he espouses the belief that France can no longer be saved by old policies based on naive universalist ideals.

Mr. Zemmour sees himself as a disillusioned realist who wants to save France by offering a way forward that differs from the failed efforts of the ruling class. He presents his candidacy as a civilizational referendum for France to keep its soul by preserving its history and culture in the face of globalization and demographic change. While this loosely resembles Mr. Trump’s approach, Mr. Zemmour is presenting his nostalgic vision in a manner that is attuned to the French elite. He has dipped in the polls when he has made outrageous statements—another contrast with Mr. Trump, at least candidate Trump of 2016. The sentiment that France is in decline spans the political spectrum, which makes Mr. Zemmour’s story—that of a member of the ruling class who became disillusioned with its failed policies and had the courage to break ranks—powerful.

We’ll find out in April if worries over France’s future are enough to give Mr. Zemmour a majority. But to regard him as simply a French version of Mr. Trump is to misunderstand France, its political traditions and its culture.

The omelette thing?

“Okonomiyaki, very loosely translated as, “Whatever ya got, on the hotplate”

Apparently originated, post last great unpleasantness, in tiny cooking shacks around the remains of Hiroshima, and using some local ingredients and some from US and Allied rations stores.

Also popular in Kyoto.

Some good recipes on the inter-tubes, but it is quite “technique” sensitive. (Like much Japanese food preparation). Often eaten sitting at the high counter containing the actual hotplate on which it is cooked. Goes well with a cold local beer….. Then, off to the Sumo stadium for more snacks and beer, trying not to lose the list of landmarks leading back to the tiny hotel with the very thin mattress. Was supposed to be back there last week. The meaning of what I wrote is the same. The news on climate change is overwhelmingly good. Human resilience to weather is higher than ever. Emissions may rise again but will peak & decline soon as we continue the transition to natural gas & nuclear

This is from official sources. Incredibly good news.

Michael Shellenberger
@ShellenbergerMD
·
Dec 5
Most people think global carbon emissions have been rising, but new data show they actually *declined* over the last decade.

Emissions must still decline further, but temperatures are unlikely to rise above 2.5°-3°C, far less than the much-feared 6°C

As someone said, if we take William Nordhaus long-term projections to have much worth and do a cost and benefits analysis of the good and the bad news about gerbil warming , projections of a 2.5- 3 degs rise in temps as likely , the gerbiling impact will therefore be a net positive for the world. Nordhaus has suggested 2.5 to 3 degs warmer is actually the optimum temp for humans and habitat on earth.

In other words, we’ve reached the end of the gerbil warming scare. This is all from official and semi official sources like Nordhaus.

More here:

Michael Shellenberger
@ShellenbergerMD
·
Dec 5
Nonetheless, the Nordhaus cost-benefit model is helpful because it reminds us that we can’t consider “how bad” certain temp increases are outside the context of considering “how good” fossil fuels have been, not just for lifting people out of poverty but also reducing wood use.

They are saying QLD is nearly 80% vaxxed. Yet only 2.9 million doses been given.

So double jabbed equals 1.45 million, if all of those are doubled jabbed and less if not.

Qld has a population of over 5 million people.

Less than 15% of the population is under 12 years old.

The number actually according to the government’s own page is maximum jabbed about 40% .

Worth pointing out the cruel reality is that boomers can only get away with all this, politically having the numbers to do all that they do for themelves, because they murdered the fuck out of their children’s generation in the womb.

A huge chunk of a generation is missing, and these bastards used their resulting immense relative number (and girth) to lord over the world of skulls and death that they have created over the last 60+ years like grotesque Babylonian gods.

is that in the 2000’s we witnessed them callously lock their infinitely superior parents generation up and throw away the key in the most vile institutions that could be created – a foreshadowing for us to be sure.

Did they? I certainly didn’t and I’m sure there were plenty of people like me. I cared for them with help until they had to go into high-care and I then visited them every second day without fail.

They did so when their parents became a ‘problem’ and got in the way of the early years of boomers ‘me time’ 35 year funded-by-us retirement road trips and european river cruises that we’ll never experience.

Make hydrogen from water using renewable energy and you get “green hydrogen”. The problem is green hydrogen is really expensive.
Instead, today most hydrogen is made from natural gas, or even coal. That is cheap but it produces lots of greenhouse gases. However, if you capture those greenhouse gases and bury them in the ground, you are allowed to call it “blue hydrogen.”

Why is all this happening? well – they say few COVID cases….but other patients demanding ER attention…..couldnt be fax emergencies could it???

The public hospitals are wedged between two problems. Firstly, they have lost a lot of staff as many doctors and nurses refused to take the jab, so they have hung up their stethoscopes and have gone fishing. Secondly, they are overwhelmed with vaxx injury cases, at a time when staffing levels are down.

We’ll be OK though, our Prime Minister is onto it already. He said that he’s going to recruit 20,000 new doctors and nurses from overseas. I don’t know where he’s going to recruit them though as the other insane vaxxing nations all face the same problem.

Oh, he was posting variations that he was generationally robbed I tells ya for the past decade. Nothing’s ever changed with him. He’s just a “zero summer”, which is a very leftwing trait incidentally.

Whatever I may think of all that, JC (& fwiw I’m a Joneser, not a Boomer), I think stix could well be prescient on the state taking kids from families over the covid vax. The political class and their bureaucratic bugmen have been exposed as being ethically derelict over the last 18 months and the human rights crowd are happy to enable them. I wouldn’t put it past them taking children from vaccine dissenters.

Totally agree – especially re vaxx reactions. The identical situation happening in Perth, apparently – where no current COVID cases, but vaccination campaign underway for some time. ERs suddenly under siege.

Real, physical AGW never was. The madness of crowds however is the real AGW.
Look up Idso’s 8 natural experiments. He took 8 cases of real world measurements and derived the CO2 warming effect. Got between about 0.1 and 1.2 degrees C for doubling CO2, average 0.4 deg.
Actually unnoticeable and undetectable within the error bars. Those satellite measurements are nowhere near accurate to 0.01 deg C. More like 1 degree if you are lucky. Look up the sensor accuracy.

They really take great umbrage at a few quips, eh?
You can’t insert the Jesse Lee Peterson “Not, all, not, not all, not all”, after every boomer quip.
For a people who recite the same four Monty Python skits over and over again for the last five and a half decades, you really are a thin skinned lot.
There are some excellent boomers. I love ‘em. Roger Daltry, all the dead ones, Roger Daltry… some others I can’t think of now weren’t all bad… did I mention Roger Daltry?

How so? Lockdowns over in Sydney. The ERs can’t cope with the emergencies coming in.

Vicki, Stix was implying his kids wouldn’t be accepted at hospital because they’re unvaxed. That’s total bullshit. It’s also bullshit that hospitals wouldn’t accept unvaxed adult emergency cases. He’s hallucinating.

You’re describing other problems. The first example you gave may well have been what was occurring during lock-down. The second example was to do with structural issues in hospitals. It’s nothing to do with the bullshit Stix was peddling.

My understanding is that Qld hospitals are despicably underfunded and understaffed with a massive top heavy administration. The Chook is looking for Federal money and is playing who blinks first.

On my little foray north last week I drove past the new Tweed Valley Hospital at Kingscliff, currently under construction. I don’t know what the situation is with the Tweed, but the border “bubble” gives a handy structure to slough off Qld patients into NSW for treatment.
