Induction for a new engineer – the wooden part of the broom is where you push, get to work

Shovel, in my experience, not broom.
Copper cons, tailings, anything the bobcat couldn’t reach.
Digging out a roaster in a silver suit on Christmas Day 1980 got me triple time. Yum!

Meanwhile in the NT:

The NT Police have refused to comment on a death in a popular northern suburbs park frequented by families, after a body was found and the park was taped off Tuesday afternoon.
The NT Independent understands police and medical officials responded to Garamanak Park in Lyons on Tuesday afternoon at around 3pm.
A photo from the scene appears to show a dead body lying on a path in the park, with the area taped off and a sheet over the body near a police officer.
That is typical of a crime scene, which would indicate police are investigating the death as suspicious.
However, NT Police ignored attempts to seek comment on the death.
Neighbours reported police speeding to the area.
It’s not the first time a body has been discovered at the park.
In January, kids discovered a body in a creek in the park that had been there for several days. The body was so decomposed police could not identify the gender of the individual.

This may not be news to various Cats, but the country tip is dead.

No longer is everything shovelled or tipped onto or next to the existing mountain of shit, or into the latest hole where the contents are later set on fire and bulldozed.

Hi-vis and fifty different piles for stuff. AND you pay handsomely for the privilege, watched by a fat bloke with a beard who was definitely not Santa.

Although I did bribe the bloke with a hacksaw he took a fancy to. He went inside his little shed, and as there was nobody else around I threw a few things into the scrap metal pile, then drove around behind a hillock before emptying the rest into a bit of a depression in the ground and pissing off.

Victorian man charged with threatening and menacing ABC journalist Mark Willacy

Sophie Elsworth
Media Writer
0 minutes ago December 8, 2021

A Victorian has been charged with threatening to kill ABC journalist Mark Willacy and his family.

The threats were made in a voicemail message left for the investigative reporter last month.

Police on Wednesday said a 25-year-old man had been charged with making a threat to kill and using a telecommunications device to menace.

The threats included: “I hope your kids get Covid and I’m going to slit your old lady’s throat, ya dog.”

The Lara man has been summoned to appear before the Geelong Magistrates Court on June 29 next year. Willacy responded on Twitter, saying: “Many thanks to the officers involved in this investigation.”

The charges came two days after ABC’s Media Watch program criticised Willacy for his reporting on allegations of war crimes in Afghanistan.

The show’s host, Paul Barry, stated: “Back in October 2020, one of the ABC’s top reporters, Mark Willacy, working with the investigative unit, accused Australian commandos in the 2nd Regiment’s November platoon of executing a bound and unarmed Afghan prisoner in mid-2012.

“(A) US marine was the ABC’s sole witness to the killing and he’d not actually seen it happen.”

In Barry’s report he also said Willacy was reading the papers in bed at 5.40am one day when he received an abusive text message from the man who has since been charged.

The ABC’s audience and consumer affairs unit is investigating the complaint about Willacy’s report and Barry said he had issues with the story.

The Mass Resignation

Resignations are flying thick and fast at work:

1). People resent having been forced to be vaxxed and it has forever damaged the employer / employee relationship. They want to leave the bad taste behind.

2). People have stepped back from their lives through this shit show and have realised that they don’t want to work in their current job anymore.

3). The companies nonsensical and uncompromising handling of the unvaxxed (stood down without pay), has evaporated the loyalty of those who have watched this play out.

Which led to the title of Malachy McCourt’s memoir A Monk Swimming.

Thank you OSC. After some googling I found that to which your referred.

A Monk Swimming” is a whimsical evocation of the way its author as a child misheard “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women” as “Blessed art thou, a monk swimming.”

It reminded me of when I said to my very young daughter that she had just let in the door a very large bush fly to which she responded ‘is that one of the flies of hell.’ You know she said ‘save us from the flies of hell’ as we say in the Rosary.

We had a F1 yippy shoot one Saturday in our AAR company. It was fun! But currently I’m reading of the 2 AIF jungle warfare against the Japanese, where even single tommy guns were like gold. Amazing how a rough-as-guts weapon firing pistol ammunition could have such a big tactical impact. But they did.

Misheard song lyrics are the stuff of legend, with Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” being a canonical example of what happens when inflection doesn’t go as planned (no, it’s not “hold me closer, Tony Danza”). Spotify tried to lend a touch of science to our collective inability to hear certain lines as musicians intended them, and conducted a poll to identify the most misquoted song lyrics of all time.

Coming in at No. 1 on the list is Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, whose “Blinded By the Light” is often mistaken as including the line “wrapped up like a douche when you’re rollin’ in the night.” The actual line? “Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.”

Take a look at the Spotify’s Top 10 Misquoted Song Lyrics below and stream a playlist of the mistakenly catchy tracks. What lyrics do you struggle with the most?

1. Blinded by the light…wrapped up like a douche when you’re rollin’ in the night / Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Blinded By the Light) – 52%

2. ’Scuse me, while I kiss this guy / ‘Scuse me, while I kiss the sky (Jimi Hendrix, Purple Haze) – 19%

3. Rock the cat box / Rock the Casbah (The Clash, Rock The Casbah) – 14%

4. Hold me closer Tony Danza / Hold me closer tiny dancer (Elton John, Tiny Dancer) – 13%

5. There’s a bathroom on the right / There’s a bad moon on the rise (Credence Clearwater Revival, Bad Moon Rising) – 12%

6. Take me down to a very nice city / Take me down to paradise city (Guns N’ Roses, Paradise City) – 10%

7. Animal! / Panama! (Van Halen, Panama) – 9%

8. Like a cheese stick / Like a G6 (Far East Movement, Like a G6) – 8%

9. Don’t go Jason waterfalls / Don’t go chasing waterfalls (TLC, Waterfalls) – 7%

10. I blow bubbles when you are not here / My world crumbles when you are not near (Macy Gray, I Try) – 4%

Sad to say been probably a couple of decades since that happened in Danistan. Saw it happen when a tip that was free, managed by one of the towns barflies that got caught up in the council amalgamations. The new Mitchel Shire promptly started charging tipping fees that appreciated on an exponential scale at first and wondered why illegal dumping in an area with a fair proportion of Housos and lower income labourers went through the roof.

Guess out Mallee way the farmers just dig up and bulldoze bulk rubbish into unusable paddocks as a result now of the same disease.

From what I’ve read, when the astronauts got back to earth, the film was given to Hollywood film experts by NASA to review and possibly tweak the rough edges out. Of course, this was then expanded to the whole thing was filmed in Lot C at 2oth C Fox studios.

JC, don’t do an Annie on us and become a flat-earther too.

The “film” came from the moon, people could watch it in real time on TV, it didn’t appear when the astronauts came back. The Apollo 11 landing and the initial walk-about were images transmitted to the Honeysuckle Creek space tracking station in the Brindabella’s in the ACT. Honeysuckle Creek, Fresnedillas (Spain) and Goldstone (Calif.) were the three stations NASA built for the Apollo missions.

My both sons grew up in awe of what I had told them of that time when they were so young, of that time my husband and I took our first born out into the backyard and showed him the moon and said to him that man was up there at this moment.

Several years ago now my second son phoned me and told me of what was being said of the original moon landing, and after listening to what he said I asked him for no more because I felt the penny had finally dropped and I was devastated.

Primary school last assembly today.
Missed the kickoff, but I believe they had a soloist sing the national anthem, maybe to enforce the new “we are one and free” lyric. Or, maybe, like the farewell handshake, singing en masse is something which we now collectively don’t do. Second verse, the open borders one, was sung.
Book awards-
-75% went to girls.
-The one academic/one citizenship award model is out the door, as far as I could decipher there is broadly now one for “approach to your learning [noun]” and another for “having a smile which lights up the room”. Lots of “the world is yours for the taking, superstar” and galaxy=themed future predictions.
-I started counting mentions of “learning” as a noun (we used to say “education”) at the year 2’s, having notice it pop up a lot. 22 times in 18 classrooms. It must be a school directive, or just creeping groupthink. Why are catchy neologisms often so clangingly bad?
-five teachers in tears as they read the kids’ their citations to the microphone. Sooo weird. Between the emotional incontinence and the “shine on, you wonderful space-unicorn” dedications, got me thinking, what is the need in these young teachers, overwhelmingly female and in a motherhood-centred industry, which they are reaching out to eight-year-olds to fulfil? Especially when their quest is not building kid’s abilities up, but rather seems to be just wallowing in their untouched perfection?

I’m champing at the bit to get our youngest out of the shite state school. She’s in the music program and PEAC, and it is the school I went to, but it’s all such a waste of time, and teaches kids complacency and entitlement.
Her teacher named the class “Team Ocean”, and read out Vogon poetry in her award dedications. I was crying tears of laughter into my hat… but the kids who actually need their school to be free also need their school to be straight and constructive, and they are being let down massively. Hospital story
Mate suffers debilitating back pain, for the last year, when it hits he can barely stay conscious let alone speak sense. Leaves three boys at home, wife takes him into ED. Hospital is a shambles, bugger all staff, school leavers clogging up the foyer with sunburn and emotional exhaustion. Canny wifey wants to speed him through triage and onto a morphine drip, so she inserts a bit of background from her vet knowledge which is a sure sign of spinal hazard- pulls a medic aside and says, “you know, I had to ermm clean him up, you know, down there, before we came in, I think he’s losing it in the shitter valve”
“Righto, let’s see then- flip him over!” Med puts on a glove, pants down, finger straight up the date. “Nah pelvic floor’s holding tone pretty good, must have been something he ate.”
Bloke is furious, wife is appalled, both still stuck in the hallway and going nowhere. They told us this as a duo at the staff Christmas party.

Apparently natural gas is no longer a carbon spewing Gaia-hating fossil fuel.

France and Italy handed rare victory over EU – bloc backs down on hated rules (8 Dec)

Italian politician Matteo Salvini welcomed a closely-watched European Commission decision to recognise gas and nuclear as green sources of power. The former Italian deputy prime minister tweeted: “Even the EU Commission gives the green light to clean and safe nuclear power as the energy of the future, now it’s our turn!”

Maybe if Poland asks the EC nicely they’ll also reclassify coal as green too.

Cardimona’s letters.

There’s now two types of people – those fighting the NWO covid hoax … and non-player characters (a.k.a. useful idiots). Arthritic Steve, Redlynch

Oh, how hilarious! The actor Jussie Smollett (CP, 8/12) does some acting in court and lefties treat that as truth, despite the police evidence and data. Those same lefties believed Kyle Rittenhouse was guilty despite the evidence, too. They seem to prefer narratives over truth. Stix, Aeroglen

The two main things that increase the dollar value of weather-related events such as floods and storms (CP, 08/12) are inflation and development. As such, dollar value is the wrong metric for long-term severe weather comparisons. The correct metric is hours of storm or flood duration. Using that measure, severe weather is less frequent now than ever before in Australian recorded history. One Tooth Wally, Cairns North

A cruise ship named ‘Norwegian Breakaway,’ on a Caribbean cruise with fully vaccinated crew and passengers, suffered a covid outbreak with 17 sufferers disembarking at New Orleans last Sunday. In other words – the vaccines don’t work so there’s no point mandating them. Mark W. Redlynch

If this was a real pandemic, billionaires would have lost the most money. Instead, they’ve profited from the response that has been directed by the think tanks they fund. No, this is not a pandemic – it’s a corporate takeover of all governments. Did you vote for that? Mechanic, Smithfield

Senator Rennick (8/12) is exactly right and CMO Kelly is completely wrong. The covid vaccines are more dangerous to our kids than the covid flu is. This. Coercion. Must. Stop. Angry Parent, Whitfield

Mark Murray (8/12) is onto it. “Despite the scare…” Exactly, Mark, the “scare” is the horrific tactic being used by governments against we who elected them. The big question is why have our elected reps fallen in line with the globalists behind the continual disease scares – despite the mounting evidence that there is no need for any of this drama. Eileen, Machans Beach

Who takes the most money from your wallet without asking? Partner? Kids? Friends? Criminals? No, it’s governments. They do it legally, by writing the laws. They’re like the ultimate criminal gangs. What’s it called when crime gangs get together? A criminal cartel. When governments do it it’s called “COAG” or “the National Cabinet.” Those gatherings need banning as much as crime cartels do, maybe more – because they steal way more money. Woz, Parramatta Park

Merlin, based on your previous comments I’ve taken it you’re a leftist. It was leftists who sold us out to China by moving our essential industries there to try to “democratise China.” They failed. China has “communised” us. Laurence, Stratford.

Why do people believe the vaxxed are not safe around the unvaxxed? If the vax works they are not unsafe. If the vax doesn’t work, why promote it? To believe two contradictory things at the same time must be exhausting. No wonder lefties always look wrung out. Ralph, Earlville

Sorry, Pat O’Shane (CP 08/12), but you’re wrong. The vaccines were not available for anyone during the worst, early days of the pandemic. Politicians travel more and mix with many more people than most of us and were most likely to be infected early. However, viruses attenuate over time, so the risk to even those with comorbidities is now no greater than any annual flu. Chloe, Kuranda

Wait, what? $10,000 bicycles that can’t cope with loose stones on the road (08/12). Not really what you’d call “roadworthy,” are they? Spiro, Mareeba

Spiraling CBD crime (CP, 8/12) was brought to you by dreadful state government decisions on law enforcement and woeful local council urban design ideas. Reset the laws and street designs to the late 1970s and the CBD crime problem would drop enormously. Cecily, Ravenshoe

Senator Alex Antic, elected as their representative in the Federal Senate by the people of South Australia, was met at the airport on his last return to SA by police who singled him out, detained him and transported him to a detention facility. What was Senator Antic’s crime? Well, it was one of the new unwritten covid crimes – he publicly criticised the disgusting bureaucratic overreach of SA state health officials. We won’t get proper lawful governance back until the white-ant cabal that has seized the levers of power are dragged in front of courts for their crimes against humanity. Rebel, Cairns

If you study geophysics, plasma physics, astrophysics and archaeology as well as mythology, religion, modern observations and computer modelling do you know what you get? You get a much better understanding of where the “climate” is headed than is offered by “settled science.” And yes, the outlook is bleak, but no, CO2 has absolutely nothing to do with it. Higgs, Tolga

Several very high profile conservative commentary and alt-media sites have come under attack (Tuesday night, our time) and have been removed from the internet by the UN globalist big tech forces. They would not need to attack free speech and the free exchange of news and ideas if they had nothing to hide. Darryl, Westcourt

Want to know how the traffic on the Esplanade became a “problem”? People started eating on the footpath, which is part of the road reserve. The cars are in the right place – the diners are in the wrong place. Blair, North Cairns

Ruth, Freshwater (8/12). The “climate disasters” you’ve listed are all perfectly normal for Australia. The gap in your thinking is that it is not happening as “experts” have predicted for the past 35 years. Tim Flannery predicted “not much rain.” He did not predict “floods will continue.” That’s how you know “climate change” is political and not scientific. Timothy, Brinsmead

“Less iso time for vaxxed” (CP, 8/12). Based on recent experience here and elsewhere, there is no need whatsoever for anyone to isolate after being in close contact with a covid sufferer. The pandemic is over; let it go. Joanne, Manunda

Former Australian prime minister Paul Keating blasted Canberra’s China policy in November.

He believes that Australia “is now very much at odds with its geography and has lost its way”

Chen said that the Morrison government has gone too far on the anti-China road, and may have left no room for maneuvering.

“We do not expect the bilateral relations to improve during the Morrison administration,” Chen said.

Code Translation: Lube up, Abronese. The CPC will send forth its Winged Monkeys against Team Morrison with terrible vengeance.

Is it just me or has Tim Blair lost his mojo?

No idea.

News Corp decided five years ago to hide him behind a paywall, slashing his audience, while it went on an expensive libel spree against showbiz celebrities, so Blair is dead to me.

Unfortunately, the Daily Tele is such a shit newspaper run by children that Blair isn’t worth a sub for 99.9% of non-Sydney readers like me.

JC’s record speaks for itself.
* Can’t write proper English.
* Quotes an anonymous “chat board” to substantiate his claims.
* Deflects blame for his opinions to the unknown “the person” and “others”.
* Runs away from responsibility of his opinions by saying “I’m just the messenger”.
* Pretends that there is a groundswell of the same stupid opinion as his.
For an allegedly smart chap, JC sure acts incoherently.

I almost prefer the fake apologies he was issuing yesterday.

We take a lot of things people say about themselves on faith. For myself, I’ve let all my professional memberships lapse, so no longer on any lists for anyone to say, ahaha! There she is!

Short of self-doxxing, what is a commenter to do in the face of an avalanche of nasturtiums?

Years of content reveals character. That will always be good enough for me.

No, I’m wrong. They do bumper stickers for clapped out wrecks and I have noticed so old, frayed “Sea Shepherd” t-shirts in my travels. All environmentally friendly and guaranteed not to have been manufactured by China’s slave armies of sewing machinists.

Jussie Smollett’s fate is now in the hands of the jury: Closing arguments end with prosecutors blasting actor as a ‘serial liar who without question orchestrated hoax race attack’

Smollett , 39, arrived with his family at the Leighton Courthouse in Chicago on Wednesday morning
Smollett has been charged with six counts of felony 4 disorderly conduct; experts say it’s unlikely he will be jailed because he has no prior criminal record
In closing arguments, special prosecutor Dan Webb said there is ‘no question’ he orchestrated the attack
He called Smollett a ‘serial liar’ and said there was also ‘no question’ the Osundairo brothers were involved
Smollett’s attorneys told the jury they couldn’t trust the brothers, who are ‘sophisticated criminals’
They have struggled to come up with a motive for why the brothers would lie – aside from that they’re ‘liars’
Smollett took the stand on Monday and Tuesday in an attempt to save his defense- experts called it a ‘disaster’
He maintains he did not lie to police in his reports of the January 29, 2019, attack
Brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo told police Smollett paid them to beat him up to boost his profile
The jury has five white men, five white women, one black man and one Hispanic woman will deliberate

Regarding the servo guy: I’ve been to a servo in NZ where there was nobody in attendance. Christchurch Airport 2015. Pull up, stick credit card in slot, fill up, remove credit card. Works fine.
This is familiar to anyone flying around the country in light aircraft as the vast majority of places you get fuel have credit card in slot automated fuel bowsers.

Old School

1. My English is fine. You just picked that up from the depressed loon and using it yourself. That’s fine, but on the other hand,
2. Your English comprehension is dreadful as I didn’t quote, I paraphrased. Secondly I didn’t use the comment to substantiate the claim as I paraphrased and posted it. You can choose to bleieve it or not. However, not everyone here buys into propaganda nonsense like you.
3. How am I running away from anything when I posted the comment. you dodo head?
4. I’m not pretending there’s a groundswell of opinion at all. You’re hallucinating. I said others have made the same observation about Newcastle’s Chief Scientist. You can choose to believe it or not. However, the evidence comes from numerous claims Newcastle has made that are a joke. You can defend that bullshit all you like, but then I don’t really hold any worth to whatever you say as you’re not really that objective.

The (fake )apology comment you made about me does hold some truth. I admonished Ed and when I read a something that ran counter to my claim supporting Ed and I checked further, it came out that I was wrong and he was in fact correct about the art market. Shove that up your rear, Old School. I accepted his comment and publicly apologized to an idiot. What’s wrong with that?

Newcastle has made very spurious claims and linked to questionable links. I’d expect Indolent to do that rather than a chief scientist, no?

Newcastle uses a very narrow training in science, mostly likely metallurgy to make grandiose pronouncements about this or that in which he appears to have a bias rather than any expertise. If you ever get really ill and require surgery, contact the geek and get him to do the surgery on his kitchen table. Of course he’s an expert in medicine too right. You gullible idiot.

One person here talks about science quite a bit an isn’t a stuck up doofus like Newcastle or Hallward. That’s John H. The Arky the math professor threw him off his stupid thread.
