I just don’t get it. Someone please explain it to me because I must be missing something, some piece of logic of which I am unaware.

I think it involves susceptibility and an unwillingness to believe that people who portray themselves as being credible (nice haircut essential) rarely know what they are talking about. It probably takes someone a bit shady to spot how shady some people are and most people are pretty honest. How could a Norman Swan get up there and carry on like that unless he actually knew what he was saying was true.

My two cents.

Okey Dok catching up on the sick list.

Cassie hope you get on your feet quick, I had an ACL reco years ago and was wheeled in a ward with 3 other guys mostly twice my age with knee replacements (One talking about his golden staph he got from Fairfield Hospital, yikes). The next morning all 3 were walking with aid of a frame and I couldn’t. Apparently a feature of ACL reco’s and not a trick, you will recover quickly. Took me a while to recover as I had a haematoma, infection and the surgeon was worth his weight in gold, stepped in to over rule a GP who wanted to reduce my endone to panadeine forte. I am tenacious and didn’t like laying about so was mobile very quick with help of crutches, the pain relief aids that. I gained full range of motion back, secret is being religious with the rehab. I came off the heavier drugs without issue but I am certain there reason for caution.

Miss Anthropologist, hope you are hope for Christmas day. Never had anything amputated so can’t comment, have been close a few times as a motorcycle rider and a brief stint as a sawmill worker. Speedy recovery.

From the Brisbane Courier Mail:

A senior Queensland Police officer has been charged with rape, with allegations he sexually assaulted a woman more than 20 years ago.

Police allege the officer, who is now a commissioned member of the Queensland Police Service, was off-duty at the time of the alleged rape in 1999.

“Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group charged the 52-year-old male commissioned officer with one count of rape (on Tuesday),” a statement from Queensland Police said.

“The woman, who was known to the man, was 27 years old at the time of the alleged offence.”

A commissioned officer is one of the most senior members of the QPS, and must hold a rank of Inspector or above.

Biscuit wheat appears to be a general name rather than a specific catrgory, Dot. This source discusses wheats with a protein content of 8.5-10.5% as being considered ‘biscuit flour’ grains.

In Australian (For my cited example, WA’s CBH) terms, you are looking at ASW1, ANW1 or APW1. After that, the receival standards come into play to determine the quality of the grain you have provided, with less germination, contamination and so forth commanding you a better price per ton than more.

Biscuit wheats ate specifically bred for that non rising baked foods.
They are also called soft wheats as they are soft to the bite. Hard wheats are hard.

Invites to Davos Show Direct Collusion Between WEF and the Dutch Government

While still The Prince, now King Willem was the World’s First ‘Water Czar’, in charge of CONvincing the world that we were running out of water and using that scam to have sovereign foreign Nations bend to his will.

I’m sorry, but I have had it with this bullshit that the vaccine is good because although it doesn’t actually act as a vaccine, vis a vis confer immunity, and does not prevent transmission , it will stop you getting really ill. What a load of poppycock.

My Italian mamma every year had the flu vaccine and every year within a day or two was in hospital with pneumonia — she would say to the doctors, in her broken English “but I have the fluevaccine , why I sick? and the doctors would say, “just imagine how sick you would be if you had not had the flu vaccine” and mamma would then relay this conversation to me: and I would say mamma how much sicker than you in intensive care? Every single year for 20 years this went on and that is why I never had a flu shot until last year when I figured that the flu was some kinda coronavirus – My mamma finally died in hospital about a week after a flu shot, she died of pneumonia and heart-failure.

I agree with Gab:

Would be interesting to read the research and studies done that prove being jabbed prevents one from getting really ill when one gets covid after being jabbed.

. Oh and the number of lives saved too would be a good bit of info.

Final insult for Bonnie Prince Charlie as site of his final defeat is added to slavery list

The site of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s final defeat has been added to a list of locations connected to the slave trade by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS).

Culloden, near Inverness, is known as the place where the Jacobite rebellion was finally crushed in 1746, but the battlefield overseen by the NTS has now become the first in Britain to be linked to the slave trade by an official body.

The site of Prince Charles Edward Stuart’s defeat has been included in a report into links between the slave trade and historic sites because the “the Bonnie Prince” received financial backing and a boat to Scotland from a businessman linked to the slave trade.

The NTS report, part of a project devised following Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, also states that the diaspora of defeated Scots and prisoners of war created in the aftermath of the battle went on to become “owners of enslaved people”.

An entry on Culloden, one of the NTS’s most visited sites, explains: “Prince Charles Edward Stuart sailed from Nantes – a busy port in the transatlantic slave trade – to the Hebrides in summer 1745 on a French slave ship, the Du Teillay.”

The ship belonged to plantation owner Antoine Walsh, who “took a leading role in financing and planning Bonnie Prince Charlie’s expedition to Scotland.”

This expedition, aimed at reclaiming the British throne for the deposed Stuart dynasty and ultimately crushed at Culloden by the Duke of Cumberland, resulted in “many Jacobite prisoners” being “transported to British colonies”, the report states.

It adds that many Scottish emigres “became involved in enslavement: working enslaved crews to clear trees in the West Indies, managing plantations as ‘attorneys’ and subsequently owning enslaved people.”

Culloden has been designated as having a link to slavery that is “indirect” in the NTS’s assessment system for historic sites in the new report, which states in the introduction that historically “Scots forgot (or chose to ignore) their slavery connections”.

Research has found that more than a third of NTS sites have links to slavery whether “direct”, “indirect”, or linked to “abolition”.

Some also have “intergenerational” links, meaning their ownership or economics were linked in some way to the broader slavery-supported economy, or to individuals who profited from it, with entire islands like St Kilda and Iona highlighted in the report for their historical ownership by families connected to the slave trade.

Observation for the day-
Every car ad on the radio has a DL number quoted out loud.
Every chummy gambling ad on the telly has a Gamble Responsibly byline at the end. (One online betting company even has an ad for Gamble Responsibly with a byline for a betting company at the end).
Every bottle of booze has a pictogram of a heavily pregnant woman, glass in hand and struck out with a red circle line.
Every ad for financial services has a voice at the end saying quotesratesareindicativeonlytermsandconditionsapply.
Every ad for big box shop products- ie half the weekend West- has “see instore for details”.
Half the car ads on telly have “overseas model shown”, and I think they’re not referring to the capable calm woman driving or the podgy open-shirted unshaven manchild, they mean the car shown has got a coloured bit on the big coloured bit which is not not available in australia.
Every beauty product can only promise to May Lessen The Visible Signs Of The Inevitable Passage Of Time .
Every new medication or drug tells you to seek indepenfdanet medical advice and ask your doctor about seeking treatment.
I’m digressing a bit, but I’m trying to make a point-
Retailers and service providers in Australia have got to constantly work through giving customers a lot of disclosure and forewarning. Maybe it’s fair enough, although I’d much prefer to simply teach kids at primary school level the concept of caveat emptor. Seriously, the more money you spend on something, the more it makes sense to find a mate who knows about cars to kick the tyres, to use the competitive services of a finance broker. The more you rely on eating out of a packet, it’s your own damn fault if you don’t have a grip on your diet, and don’t go relying on a nutritional breakdown chart or Know Your Portions guide on the Fun To Share 18-pack.
Caveat Emptor. Let people make choices, let bad operators suffer in reputation. Turn off the governemtn faucet, Let the armies of regulators, licensors, compliance inspectors, purse-lipped nutritionists bugger off and find something which adds value to the market.
I’m digressing again-
The BatFlu jabs have sidestepped all this.
They haven’t needed to subtly advertise May Assist In Reducing The Harmful Effects Of.
They haven’t needed to buy TV slots to point the proles at their GPs first in the hope that those free pens and notepads on his or her desk might nudge them into recommendation.
They haven’t needed to put their licenses and permit certificates on every receipt. Hell, I’ve got no doubt that they simply don’t print receipts. They certainly don’t fear having their licenses revoked, or needing to give refunds or liability for deadly side-effects.
Big Daddy Government has waived the safety regulations, bought the jabs, advertised them, and absolved both themselves and their broadcast partners, Big Daddy Fascist Pharma, from any liability. And has pushed the regulatory burden of enforcing compliance onto employers and public venues.
It’s all Written and Authorized.

Effectively saying Australian sporting codes are following (or should be following) what they are are doing in the NFL & NBA.
Now the NFL has effectively binned all of their previous rules & will only test people who self declare they are feeling sick, there has been zero coverage in Australian legacy media.

An early rumbling from some retired woke generals is another pointer towards suspension of normal voting. They say that the military has to be ready for a coup attempt or insurrection, which translates as being ready to ensure a smooth transition to another term for the demrats whatever the voting public does.

If you are monumentally stupid enough to buy a dog online you deserve everything you get, which will be nothing except a depleted bank account.

I don’t blame the scammers, because there’s a massive market for people determined to become emotionally attached to teensy French Bulldogs or mini dachshunds because of a photo on a website, then sending people thousands of dollars over said website, then not receiving the dog in the mail, and then complaining about it in public.

It’s the usual pre-Christmas scamming run, which is a windfall for sellers of non-existent dogs.

It’s not about the human condition or the lack of trust in fellow humans. It’s about being thick as pig shit. ‘We were so looking forward to a cavoodle Christmas, especially after Bunter the iguana passed away in October- now these heartless people have ruined the festive season’, or a variant thereof is the cry.

OMICRON OUTLOOK Omicron’s surge has ‘crashed’ in London as expert says half of extra patients diagnosed AFTER being admitted to hospital

OMICRON’S grip on London may have “crashed”, as an expert says half of the city’s variant patients were diagnosed AFTER their admission to hospital.

It comes as the PM is monitoring cases “hour by hour”, with Brits’ festive celebrations hanging in the balance thanks to rising infections.

But a number of experts have indicated the situation isn’t quite as gloomy as feared.

Sir David Spiegelhalter has suggested the increase rate of hospitalisations “may be slowing down”, with it not “looking quite as bad” as once thought.

It follows an indication the growth rate of Omicron has plummeted in London – bringing hope as Brits’ Christmas attempts looked to be on shaky ground.

This is from the Scottish Sun so it’s pretty mainstream.

Since Omicron overwhelmingly causes nothing much more than a cold, and since the claims are that the vaccines ameliorate symptoms rather than bestowing immunity, I suppose we must get used to claims that people getting Covid having nothing more than sniffles is proof that the vaccines work.

The experience of the unvaxxed would be, in progressive parlance, ‘not helpful’. True, relevant, illuminating, and profoundly significant, but ‘not helpful’.

Dead battery pack after 8 years? Sounds about right.

Tesla Owner Blows Up Car After Discovering Cost To Fix Battery (21 Dec)

In the video on YouTube with English subtitles, Tuomas Katainen explains his 2013 Model S was in the shop for more than a month for service. When he heard back from the shop, they told him they couldn’t repair his car, and the only option was to change the entire battery cell.

Katainen said the fix would’ve cost him upwards of €20,000 ($22,500). He told the dealership that was absurd, and he donated the car to a Finnish YouTube channel Pommijätkät, whose name literally translates to ‘Bomb Dudes.’

Instead of fixing the Model S, 30 kg (66 pounds) of dynamite was strapped to the car for one explosive show. Showing his frustration, Katainen even had a doll of Tesla’s founder Elon Musk in the driver’s seat.

I betcha the next thing pollies will do is subsidize replacement battery packs to stop irate Tesla owners blowing their cars up.

Does the law say I must be vaccinated for work?
The Victorian Government has declared a state of emergency and given new powers to the chief health officer. The chief health officer can make directions that must be followed, the same as laws.

The chief health officer has made directions that you must be vaccinated against COVID-19 coronavirus if you work outside your home. This includes paid workers and contractors and people who do unpaid work, such as volunteers and students on placement. It does not include people employed by the Australian government or people connected to court proceedings.

From 15 October 2021, your employer must collect, record and keep information about whether you are vaccinated. You should not give your employer false information about whether you are vaccinated. Your employer may have to provide this information to an authorised officer to prove they are following the law. If you are self-employed, you are your own employer and must follow the same rules.

..
It’s keep boostering to keep your vaccination current until or if at all they say stop.

Coalition has no plan to help the low-wage battlers Jim Chalmers

11:00PM December 21, 2021
165 Comments

As the difficulties of 2021 become the possibilities of 2022, it couldn’t be a more important time to take stock and try to renew and unite around genuine reasons to be optimistic about the future.

That’s why the mid-year budget update should have been an opportunity for the nation to consider what kind of economy and recovery we want, and how we make sure it works for everyone.

It could have been an opportunity to support working families with skyrocketing costs of living, address job insecurity, and create a future made in Australia. It could have been a chance to provide better access to childcare, cheaper and cleaner energy, investments in TAFE and training to address the skills shortages holding the recovery back, and a credible plan for the budget beyond the election cycle.

Instead, it just reminded us of the failures of the Morrison government’s economic mismanagement: billions squirrelled away for pre-election waste; record debt and deficits as far as the eye can see with not enough to show for it; and real wages going backwards again this year. At a time of great uncertainty, it offered more of the same risk and complacency that poisoned the green shoots of a nascent recovery this time last year and became instead one of the biggest downturns ever, in the third quarter of 2021.

It’s clear the economy is recovering but we can’t be complacent or assume, as the budget now does, that the government will perfectly manage new outbreaks and variants of the virus given their form in botching the health response this past year, and the risk they bungle the boosters now.

Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg can’t take credit for a recovery which hasn’t happened yet, without taking responsibility for the mistakes that saw billions of dollars a week shed from the national economy for large swathes of this year.

Even with welcome and unsurprising improvements in the budget forecasts, last week’s update still had deficits getting bigger in two years of the forward estimates; declining real wages this year and still stagnant thereafter; a tax take bigger than under Labor but still a trillion-plus dollars in debt. The wages outlook is especially concerning, when you remember that of the 55 times the government has forecast wages growth, actual wages outcomes have fallen short 52 times.

This is another reminder that many, if not most, of the key challenges to our prosperity have been with us for eight long years and not just the two years of Covid-19. Remember, six in every 10 dollars of net debt racked up by this government was borrowed before the pandemic.

We hope wages do grow strongly, that the pandemic is well managed, and that the economy recovers strongly, broadly and sustainably. But this is a government notorious for over-promising and under-delivering on the economy and the budget.

Flogging off “Back in Black” mugs then delivering more consecutive deficits than any government in a hundred years is testament to that. The economy would be stronger were it not for the mistakes made on vaccines and quarantine.

The budget would be stronger were it not weighed down with tens of billions of dollars in rorts and waste, and there’d be more room to fund essential services such as Medicare and the NDIS.

The time for taking lectures from Liberals and Nationals on responsible economic management is well and truly over.

Now Morrison and Frydenberg say they’ll fix the budget but they won’t say where the cuts are coming from until after the election. When our economy needs a comprehensive strategy for the recovery, we get instead a two-part plan for secret slush funds this term, and secret cuts next.

No wonder so many Australians finish the year asking, ‘Is this really the best we can do?’ They understand we can’t risk another three years like the past eight.

Not even the most optimistic among them would expect a fourth term of this flailing bunch of economic incompetents to be any better than the first three; or a second decade to be better than the first.

They know we won’t renew our society or create the right kind of recovery into the future with the same failed approaches that offer little more than a return to the stagnation and insecurity of the past.

More waste, more stagnant wages and job insecurity, and more generational debt without a generational dividend can’t be the thanks Australians get for all we’ve been through together.

I agree with the Treasurer that we should be optimistic, but that optimism needs to be grounded in a hard-headed assessment of how we got here and what we need to do to secure a better future, with an economy and a society stronger after Covid-19 than before.

Jim Chalmers is federal opposition Treasury spokesman.

Some of the responses to Krudd’s evacuation make you shudder.

Apart from the predictable stuff like hinting the ‘anti-vaxxers’ don’t get the science (although the science of the ‘second-person’ vaccine – which does not actually work on the person receiving the shots – has yet to be explained and is a pretty big leap), are comparisons to letting people make their own decisions to removing all speed limits and letting them go mad on the roads.

As for KRudd, has he ever been any good at anything? Calling Liberals ‘far-right’ and Libertarian? I don’t think he can understand the words, and says them like swear words he heard other people use them. Or he understands them but doesn’t care. Or he could be both brainless and soulless.

ScoMo and the premiers don’t even realise that they are baddies in a biblical sense particularly at Christmas time when we can draw the ultimate parallel. Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem to report for a census as decreed by the Caesar. With all the extra people in town, being poor, they were priced out of any available accommodation.

In today’s circumstance we have Caesar ScoMo and premiers make demands of people that only the very rich can circumvent with their influence and private planes. All those people waiting in lines for jabs and tests are like the people who went to be counted in the Roman times. The unvaxxed are treated as the dregs of society and consigned to the stables and caves. Cue Silent Night.

State governments have farmed out all of the effort and risk to businesses over this, and all it takes is a change in the Commonwealth government’s heart – which may come soon, to take a baseball bat to a few select examples for doing so. A select few wiley large companies know this and are flying under the radar and running privacy training and explicitly urging people not to store any thing to do with health or medicinein their HR systems. Because in a year, or two years they may be personally be answering to a different Commonwealth government – Australian corps true master, why they did so while the state government bureaucrats sun themselves on the beach laughing their arses off at these business men getting fucked because they blinked in 2020 / 2021.

Any other questions?

hmm odd. Your insurance should be paying for accommodation or is that limited?

Anyway well done. This is the reason why saving is important, it gives one options. Whilst I don’t particularly want to live on savings, I could last almost 5 years without working.

If I sold up, cashed out, and moved to the country, I could retire. After what’s left is gone, go on the dole. So if the medical fascists in .gov want someone who used to pay lots of taxes into a net burden on the vaxtards, then that’s what they’ll get.

They’re literally telling people that the third shot is going to be “mandated”.

And the fourth.

Everything predicted since last year by observant people is here and happening right now. People who (we’ll charitably say) “bought themselves some time” getting the first two shots to save their jobs – a few months, your bought time is rapidly coming to an end. People said it would, you knew it would. And now it’s going to happen.

So either you’re making changes in your life necessary to mitigate the effect of the new normal beast system, or you’re shortly going to be in the exact same place as you were if you had of not gotten any jabs at all. Like a 2021 version of groundhog day where you’re forced to wake up and go through the same process again and again and again – being ordered to get the next jab, then the jab after that each time going through the same broken logic of “well I have to work, I’ll just get this one and complain about it but change nothing”.

Doing as you’re told, getting jabs, flashing your new passport more and more and feeling less and less guilty about it, and complaining on the Internet quietly hoping this somehow magically is going to end even though you are wholly accepting and completely going along with it isn’t a strategy to make this end. And at some point it will become an undeniable fact that really you’ve completely accepted the new normal with permanent endless ‘jabs’, passports, segregation and state control over your life, and are just superficially pointlessly whinging about it to cope about it.

For another instalment of nothing green ever works.

Hobart is currently infested with a plague of e-scooters. Every street corner seems to have three of the things parked on the pavement. Hobart waterways and parks are currently filling up with abandoned and vandalised e-scooters as a result. You can always count on human nature to triumph over the best intentions of the ruling class.

In the omicron phase why are people lining up and waiting for a test? Don’t bother.
Why are some still wearing those useless masks?
Why are they still telling us about “cases” instead of hospitalisation and deaths?

Note: Canberra has just reintroduced masks indoors!

In case you missed it, the federal government has finalised its plans for a national indigenous voice to parliament, further privileging one group of Australians over the rest on the basis of race.

The “voice” will ensure indigenous people have a direct say over legislation that effects them.

The rest of us don’t matter unless we happen to belong to one of those ethnic voting blocks that politicians like to court.

If a significant number of voters don’t reject the Uniparty consensus next year, forcing politicians to lend their ear to their voice, I’d say we’re done.

are comparisons to letting people make their own decisions to removing all speed limits and letting them go mad on the roads.

This implies that being a completely normal healthy made-in-the-image-of-god person is ‘dangerous’, and that you need permission to walk down the street.

Or further that there is no place in this society for normal, un-technologically enhanced, healthy human beings.

Last year during the first lockdown I spent time building the idea that the managerial state was capturing and privatising for itself, all of the public’s space outside your front gate. Sort of like the enclosure acts 2.0. And that before this ends, you will need a licence to go out in public in the same way that car licences are “permission” for you to drive on the government’s road.

And here we are, “normies” are regularly making the “argument” that you need a licence to go out in public and the government has these handy new digital licences that it’s trialing all over the place, and in Austria and Germany is actively enforcing them as necessary for walking down the footpath.

Maybe disasters that happen to little brown people aren’t as important to the MSM as tornadoes in Kentucky

I’ll never forget working on the foreign news subs desk at a metro daily newspaper in the 1990s — a typhoon that killed 10,000 people in Bangladesh made a one-paragraph brief on an inside page.

A bloke killed in a typhoon in Texas would have got the full feature treatment because the news agencies had resources on the ground.

The deaths of brown people in poor faraway places gets next to no coverage because they’re not like us.

I think its being driven by border restrictions and people wanting to travel.

To get out of NSW in just about anywhere, you need a covid test in the previous 72 hours (or something).

The testing stations in Sydney have queues km long… cars backed up to the bejesus.

And the fourth.

Someone say “fourth”?

Expert: ‘Fourth dose should be considered’ (Israel news, 21 Dec)

Professor Eran Segal, an expert at the Weizmann Institute of Science, on Tuesday said that at this stage, with the uncertainty regarding the Omicron variant of the COVID-19, there is no choice but to tighten restrictions and increase enforcement of the Green Pass. … Prof. Segal added that the best way to control the wave of infections is significant vaccination “as was proven in the past,” and a fourth dose should be considered.

The lefty Israeli government ‘considered’ for about a picosecond, then:

PM Naftali Bennett: To all those eligible, go and get your 4th shot (21 Dec)

I wonder if they’re starting to consider a fifth shot? Maybe they could then have a green pass for five and up, yellow passes for merely four, orange for three, light red for two, scarlet for one and black for zero. Would neatly stratify the population by their loyalty levels!

Could be that PI gets on average 20 a year as well and quite a few are nasty Cat 5’s. This one however is very late in the season and I was sort of expecting the Climate Angle to be exploited.

Anyway we may get another chance, another one brewing up in the vicinity of Palau and will head to PI if it does. GFS has it spinning up but all other models are cold on it going to TC status.
