Voting for other than the Liberal Party doesn’t necessarily mean handing it to Labor. As long as the LNP are above ALP and Greens in your preferences, voting for a minor party/ies, is both workable, principled and, in my case, desirable. It delivers a message.

“…The metal must burn as fast as the fuel/oxy.”
The fuel is the oxy! They are almost hydraulic locking the engine there’s so much “fuel”* going in. One of the few fuels that when the engine is running lean, you reduce the amount of fuel you are giving it to fix.
More issues with rod stretch than metal damage from fuel – it’s nasty, but not that nasty. You might get a dozen full power runs on a set of rods, after that fit the rods to something less powerful, like a 1,000HP street car.
You used to be able to buy 1L tins of 30% or 50% nitromethane mixed with some chemical or other that kept it mixed with standard petrol. Put some in a lawn mower – cut ankle high grass on choke, but alas dissolved the plastic fuel hoses (oops! fortunately didn’t set the mower on fire). Used in a street car, you can feel the extra torque across the rev range, but beware the paint stripping quality – make sure you have a bottle of water in hand to wash it off straight away if it spills. Not “just over there”, not “the hose is right there”, open bottle in hand! (learned that the hard way)

Janet Albrechtson gets her opinions from The Cat:
Scott Morrison’s obsession with pub politics has exposed him as a populist drunk, more focused on low-rent politics than sensible policy.
Yep, Morrison has form. Bolta:
Here’s proof that the Morrison Government wants to kick Novak Djokovic out of the country not because he’s a danger to the health of Australians, but because he’s a danger to the health of a government facing an election.
If Djokovic were really a health danger to Australians, why would the government sit back and let him walk free on our streets?
Is it possible the Government just wants the extra time to see how this plays out in polls and talkback? That it wants the view of the mob before acting?
If you think I’m too harsh, here are two names: Christine Holgate and George Pell.
The Prime Minister demanded Holgate be sacked as head of Australia Post even though she lawfully and understandably rewarded four top executives with luxury watches worth $5000 each for landing a deal that made the corporations millions of dollars. But the mob was going feral, so Morrison trashed her.
The Prime Minister never said a single word in defence of Cardinal George Pell, even after the High Court correctly ruled he’d been the victim of a miscarriage of justice, unfairly jailed for pedophile offences he could not possibly have committed. But the mob wanted a scapegoat, and Morrison was not the man to stand in their way by defending an innocent man.
I’d add Milo Yiannopoulos to the list. Morrison banned him from coming to Australia for being allegedly of “bad character”, when in fact the true bad characters were the far-Left thugs threatening violence if he spoke. But the Left wanted Yiannopoulos silenced, and the election was just two months away. So Morrison again sided with the mob, not with free speech.
That record is not a proud one, and suggests Morrison would once again side with the mob – not justice and reason – and throw Djokovic out of the country if he thought there were votes in it. I’m guessing the first polling on this will determine Djokovic’s fate……..
On that point, a new article in Lancet suggests to me it should be, and that Djokovic poses no more health risk than any fully-vaccinated player…….
Given the evidence of immunity from previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, however, policy makers should consider recovery from previous SARS-CoV-2 infection equal to immunity from vaccination for purposes related to entry to public events, businesses, and the workplace, or travel requirements.

It’s not too late to limit the carnage
The idea that health considerations had to be balanced with economic interests was always a false dichotomy. A healthy economy requires healthy workers and healthy consumers.
The Omicron surge has created an economic emergency that will be difficult to endure.
But it’s not too late to limit further avoidable contagion. Infection prevention practices (including masks, capacity limits, prohibitions on group indoor activities, PPE and distancing in workplaces, and free and accessible rapid tests) must be restored and enforced.*
Income supports for workers who stay home must be restored. Staffing strategies need to emphasise steady, secure jobs, rather than outsourcing and gig arrangements which have facilitated contagion.
Above all, our policymakers need to remember the economy is composed of human beings, and refocus their attention on keeping people healthy. Protecting people is the only thing that can protect the economy.

I should have also added the saintly Cardinal Pell and Milo to that list. Oh and another, remember how he trashed our SAS soldiers?

If you can get it off the 6pm News for two days the caravan rolls on and you are home. Porter never managed to.
Cassie Johnson is right!
Electric aircraft is one of the more stupid things that could be done. Great for R/C models and you can make an “acceptable” self launching sailplane (hugely good aerodynamics – lift/drag >50) where the motor runs for a few minutes, stops, folds away and you are in a a sailplane. If you look like landing in a farmer’s field, start motor and at least get to an airport, if not home.
For the rest, forget it. Batteries aren’t nearly good enough. My bugsmasher can go for 8 hours at 80 kilowatts for 640 kilowatt hours and is considered one of the more efficient small aircraft. A good li-ion battery pack would be 200 W-h/Kg including controllers, thermal protection and failure protection systems so would weigh 3200 kilograms. Currently the whole aircraft with pilot, passenger, baggage and full fuel is 900 kg.
Aviation is about 2% of greenhouse emissions (not that these matter at all based on real world evidence) so is hardly low hanging fruit if you are concerned about them.
Note also: like sailboats nowadays, R/C models and sailplanes are only good for having a bit of fun, not anything serious (small drones may be used for serious purposes).

I was at Coles earlier, the meat section was an empty wasteland of shelves with an occasional packet something here or there. So in search of currawong fodder I went over to Woolies, which is a bit further away with less convenient parking.
Meat section well stocked and pretty normal. No limits on packets of mince or anything else.
That makes me think it might be internal company policies which are the issue, particularly over close contacts and testing. If Coles uses RATs the false positives would be a big problem.
Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate is a sort of self-made can do character.

And as for the retrospective rule, that’s another Pandora’s Box.
Harsh.
But extremely accurate, BoN.
And just like that they pull a $1000 fine – which many citizens would find burdensome – out of thin air and backdate its applicability.
Delegated legislation is none too subtly transferring power and responsibility from politicians to unlected and unaccountable bureaucrats and undermining our democratic rights.
Like ‘QR codes’ and vaccine passports, implementing a home testing / self-notification system was always part of the ‘live with it’ (and forever) phase of the pandemic response plan. They’ve known they were going to do this since the start, this is all just theatre as they implement what was always going to be implemented.

The only way they can make people take them is to use the RAT as a “passport” to participate, not the vaxx.

Separate to that, there needs to be a way to reliably record you’ve had COVID.

My sister had just texted me to ask how the authorities are going to check if you haven’t registered your RAT test? She says that they’ll be knocking on our doors next.
East Germany with koalas.
All the above discussions on the character of Scummo – anyone still think the POS is not capable of selling out Australia & its people???
I get the curiosity part – it would be interesting to know whether you had the thing or not.
By using the RAT, they are admitting that the (virtually) forced vaxx and booster is useless. Or alternatively, and to my mind more sinisterly, that Covid itself is not the problem – it’s compliance.
I reckon Albo would be cheaper to bribe than Morrison.
Vote 1 Albo, because I can afford him.
The private import of RAT’s will be an offence.

Quite so Tom…but….but remember, they’re supposedly a right of centre party and thus they’re not nearly as bad as a Labor government.
You mean like a certain tennis player? Too soon. Give it a couple of weeks.
I think I see a problem…
There is the little problem that the RATs are returning a lot of false negatives for Omicron and scientists overseas are already saying they’re not fit for purpose. It’s to be hoped that by the time they come up with something that is we’ll be looking at Omicron and the virues generally in the rear-view mirror, not least because of the accelerated spread caused by allowing infected but asymptomatic people who tested negative to mingle among us.
Shh…don’t tell them.
East Germany with shitstained koalas.
You should see the hysterics on one of the Teachers blogs I am on. “Wherallllllllgunnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaadiieeeeeee!!!!” – it was not appreciated when I posted teh link to the Oxford Covid risk calculator
That’s always been the case. It’s the lack of respect shown by the non-compliant which sticks in their craw. Hence the spite directed towards the unvaxxed.
Hang on.
Sky and 2GB and The Australian assured me Dom Pirouette was a ‘conservative’ game-changer.
I expect RATs will scanned out to an individual at some stage. And scanned back in and matched up later. Can’t have people doing their own RATs without the government knowing.
That’s how I’m seeing it too, Roger. The whole thing is unworkable.
Fining people who return a +ve on a dodgy test? The first court challenge would blow it out of the water.
They’re dodging and weaving. Soon it will be panicking. So much simpler and less damaging to admit defeat and that you were wrong. Idiots.
New campaign sloganeering:
—–
…Trump. Shorten. Albanese.
Teach these disgusting men to RESPECT. WOMEN!
—-
…Scott Morrison and Dom Perrottet: keeping YOU SAFE with RATs and $1000 fines.
—-
– ends
They are going to investigate the truthiness of Djokovic’s travel before he left for Australia.
While they are at it, maybe they can investigate the travel of the diplomat who was the start of the Avalon cluster at Christmas 2020.
Are you sure? I doubt there are too many Judge Kelly’s out there.
I have recently started to rely on the analogy of the COVID Response with the M&J Sexual Response Cycle.
Excitement – Plateau – Climax – Resolution
We seem to have left the “Plateau” phase, and are approaching the “Climax”.
Soon we will just have a bit of cleaning up to do, and bask in the “Resolution”
And maybe a ciggie.
How are they going to check them?
Run PCR tests with warrantless DNA against them all?
Use a HPLC/MS to determine what kind of epithelial cells are on the swab, or if they were ever inserted nasally? Video the event?
The compliance costs would be astronomical and very illegal to do.
The hordes of madness are breaking.
Hold the line, brothers and sisters!
I got peed on by a koala as a child. I struggled with Blinky Bill after that. Dopey jumped up rodents.
Oops! Errant ?
LOL
You’re a funny guy. I bet he has Asian skanks (his words, not mine, surely lovely people) lay out his silk pyjamas before he retires to bed? You don’t want to get $2000 pairs of pyjamas dirty with Ocha tea.
HE WAS A KING IN PATTAYA, HOW DARE YOU MAKE HIM SUBMIT TO RULES THAT TAX PROLES MUST OBEY?!
Teachers not interested in evidence, eh?
Please tell me these weren’t science or maths teachers.
Dot.
For the Viktoristan election the opposition (whoever that is) should just show non-stop video of Dan’s thugs beating the shit out of young women, grannies, the pregnant etc.
At the end of the advert, “You are next!”
“For your own good!”
The compliance costs would be astronomical and very illegal to do.
So?
Why start worrying about costs & legality now?
Sad but true. Like being asked do you want to vote for the Libs and have your left leg amputated, or vote for Labor and have both legs amputated. Else vote for neither and hide as best you can from the madmen with bonesaws, which is my choice.
“Rare” and “colourised”.

I’m not without some sympathy for him.
He got off to a good start but he’s been worn down, predictably.
Imagine having Kerry Chant come into your office every morning to advise on how many deaths you were responsible for overnight.
Enforcement will be a panic.
Unless you ‘fess up, there is no real prospect for forensic conviction:
• The used RAT has long since gone in the bin (and in any event would be unreadable 30 minutes after the test, so forget mandatory preservation of ‘evidence’);
• Subsequent positive diagnosis tells you nothing about your known Pox status at the time of the RAT – the tests are significantly unreliable.
Anyone standing weepily in front of a beak and admitting to RAT crime always loved Big Brother.
Chant, Hazzard, Speakman, Elliot, you are dismissed.
Everyone but Traudl Junge must leave.
Hold up.
Everyone but Alexandra Maria Lara must leave.
Say, have you seen this movie with Maggie Gyllenhall and James Spader?
Like most of this stuff most people will self-comply.
It’s like the QLD border. There’s no road block, but the lengths QLDers went to to self-comply even with with the chaos over NY, just to come back to their own homes, some were driving all over NSW looking for a test.
They could have just driven home. I’m sure many did. But many, many are in a prison of their own mind and can’t bear the thought of being naughty and “ending up on A Current Affair” as someone once said to me.
We’ve got a major shame cult going.
Oh my god.
Blonde Same Hyde (“school shooter”) looks like a young James Spader.
The nonsense Terrence McKenna was spouting the other day is making more and more sense.
Brave new world we live in:
A spate of wins by transgender women in elite US college swimming has prompted top female athletes and women’s groups to warn the Biden administration, which has granted men who’ve artificially become women the same rights to compete as biological women, it will destroy women’s sport altogether.
The victory of 20-year-old Yale swimmer Iszac Henig, a female transitioning to be male, over Pennsylvania University’s Lia Thomas, a male who has transitioned to be female, in a women’s inter-college swimming race last week prompted outrage among parents and calls for the sport’s governing body, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, to clarify the rules.
Oz
Will people start “expressing saliva” and saving it in the fridge to put on later RAT tests.
If you need to stay negative to work, why not?
Once again, Coatesworth delivers some A-grade commonsense.
“If you’re crook, stay home. If you’re not crook, go to work”.
Standard operating procedure pre-2020.
Their ABC pushing the drowning Moron Government back under water:
Andy Murray says Novak Djokovic has questions to answer about movements after positive COVID-19 test
Helping.
Once again, Coatesworth delivers some A-grade commonsense.
“If you’re crook, stay home. If you’re not crook, go to work”.
Sounds like a crank.
Best to deplatform him just to be safe.
Was it John Safran who turned up with a film crew at Ray Martin’s house demanding an interview?
Martin was not amused.
Brilliant.
The Australian Republic Movement has unveiled a new model for a republic it says would succeed at a referendum and sever ties with the Royal Family.
The new model, named Australian Choice, proposes that all Australian parliaments would nominate a candidate for head of state which would then be put forward to a national ballot.
The elected head of state would hold power for a five-year term, and be responsible for appointing the prime minister as the person who has the majority support of the house of representatives.
The new head of state would also be responsible for calling an election if no leader could obtain majority support in the House of Representatives, but would have no authority over the setting of government policy or the passing of legislation.
After a two year consultation period with members of the public, parliamentarians and academics, The Australian Republic Movement is hopeful this approach would achieve majority support in a national vote.
Research undertaken by the organisation has found 73 per cent of Australians would vote for a republic if this model was put to a referendum.
Reported in the Oz, together with a picture of Fitzsimon, which must have driven away at least 25% of potential supporters.
So a pissy little ACT “Parliament” gets an equal vote with NSW?
I smell a (dead) fish…
Given the proensity of people to be parochial and vote for thier state’s candidate, this would advantage the two most populous states.
They haven’t thought this through very well. Or they consider this a feature and not a bug.
I imagine there’s been some serious pollie bribing by big pharma to ensure that they stay on script. Someone recently put up a post showing that 73 (?) members of US Congress have shares in Pfizer, Moderna and J&J. It would be no different here.
Every politician and health bureaucrat should be made to state their financial interest in big pharma and renewable energy projects.
A p has gone missing in cyber space. Thankfully, I’ve no shortage of them.
That assumes these guys need to be bribed.
I can’t respect anything that comes out of the ARM.
They’re more interested in “pwning monarchists” than appealing to the public.
Which means, begrudgingly, I must respect the intellect of the monarchists.
One of the great moments on Australian TV. Up there with Normie Rowe on The Midday Show.
Delta A,
Hunt’s extended family are minting it.
He was actually going through Ray’s garbage. LOL.
CNN just reported that the Australian Minister is investigating Djokovic’s “travels” for 14 days prior to Oz arrival, and that the paperwork was not filled out by Dj himself, but by Tennis Australia ! TA apparently unaware that Dj was in both Spain and Serbia prior to Xmas. How amusing !
Quite so Tom…but….but remember, they’re supposedly a right of centre party and thus they’re not nearly as bad as a Labor government.
Not sure who said they are right of centre… they are certainly right of Labor.
This is and always has been a socialist country, just some are more socialist than others.
My republic options:
1. Direct election like Ireland.
2. State Premiere appoint their own governors, subject to State Parliament approval.
3. Copy that for the Commonwealth or the most senior State Governor is in line to be appointed as President when a term ends.
4. Rotate the Presidency between the States.
5. As in 4., but with sortition, appointment and approval referenda. Or no rotation and do this Federally.
6. Eliminate the head of State position, divvy out the powers to the Cabinet, PM, Parliament, Parliamentary officers and High Court.
My beef with the ARM is they make everything so convoluted, it is more about beating the ACM in a moderated high school debate. No one wants what they offer. They want elite control over institutions. I doubt they are true Republicans, I know they certainly are not democrats.
How many 2022 pelts hanging off Djoker’s belt?
And he hasn’t even hit a tennis ball in anger, yet.
Australia is a fake country.
Why not have a fake head of state?

Speedbox, Are you sure you know what fulsome means? Again asking for a pedantic friend.
Yes I do and you’re right. Shouldn’t have used it in that context. Should have used ‘generous’ or perhaps ‘ungrudging’. Not pedantic – fair pick up.
From the little I’ve seen of his work, Safran seems a genuinely funny and interesting character.
A manic depressant, chronic catastrophe with delusions of being an oracle with limited contact to the outside world.
I think it’s reasonable to suspect his solutions are just away to prove himself right.
East Germany with shitstained koalas.
With a runny nose, a wheeze and a cough.
….
For the Viktoristan election the opposition (whoever that is) should just show non-stop video of Dan’s thugs beating the shit out of young women, grannies, the pregnant etc.
My all time favourite meme from the detention days onwards..
LOL, we already do in the governor-general whose powers no one can definitively state. “Do not look behind the curtain!”.
Soon we will have a fake monarch too.
(Charles III will be King – there is NOTHING we can do about it).
Yes.
Apparently Ray’s privacy was paramount.
We are seeing the same thing play out today.
3AW presenters quacking on about the “private conversation” of the Seven newsreaders being broadcast.
Callers handing them their arse by pointing out a number of examples where Seven has broadcast private conversations of others.
Are you sure? What are Cromwell’s descendants doing these days?

From the little I’ve seen of his work, Safran seems a genuinely funny and interesting character.
One of his better ones was ‘John safran vs God”.
Highlights were him taking the piss out of everyone… he also had brass balls joining a neo nazi mob in the US then asking if his being Jewish was a problem…
Plus the all time best takedown of smug atheists ever.

The World’s media desperately wants Scummo to boot Djokovic.
The shitstorm that would keep giving.
Twostix,
I have no app or QR code. What ever will I do?
As well as the federation, each of the states is also a monarchy, at present.
If we are to have republic, the states should go first.
We can pick the federal model from whichever state model works best.
Gerrard does it again:
Count the double vaxxed (formerly known as the ‘fully vaxxed’) as unvaccinated and voila!
I wasn’t a huge fan of Saffran but two pieces of work stood out:-
1. His takedown of Ray Martin who was totally blind to his own hypocrisy;
2. Finding a house in inner city Melbourne with “Land Rights Now” and “Give it Back” stickers in the window, and teeing up an Aboriginal bloke to knock on the door and reclaim his property.
Nothing, if they have their way.
Per Pfizer CEO, by March the tripe-vaxxed will also be unvaccinated.

Inco are you offering to do albosnaggletooth freebies so he doesn’t have to spend up large at the Thai rub’n’tug?
When journalists do it it’s in the public good.
This was purely gratuitous.
Cough.
Turn TV news presenters into celebrities and then call foul when they become the news.
East Germany with koalas.
The Kangaroo Gulag
Holy shit lol.
We’re moving into proper witchhunt territory.
Also any of his competitors have more than a little vested interest in him being given the treatment.
“3AW presenters quacking on about the “private conversation” of the Seven newsreaders being broadcast.”
I bet they wouldn’t say that if it had been a Sky after Dark newsreader/commentator.
That’s what I liked, his willingness to take on the Establishment’s sacred cows, the way satirists used to do before they all became paid up members of The Greens.
Andy “Matthew Hopkins” Murray, as he is known to his friends.

For the $1000 non reporting of the RAT test results: “I bought it but lost the test before I used it” or “I bought it and haven’t used it yet” would get them off your backs. No way they could prove otherwise.
lost to the 34-year-old in four Australian Open finals
Who’s the bigger loser?
Andy Murray or John McCain?
No. Happy endings will be a medicare item with a small gap.
If Australians still backed the anti-authoritarian underdog out of a sense fo fair play, Dkokovic would be cheeered on if gets to play. Instead, Melburnians are reportedly planning to boo him.
