New public health and social measures will be introduced for regions throughout the state from 6am Monday, 21 February to help manage the surge of Omicron COVID-19 cases and keep Western Australians safe.

Speaking of Jewish folk, they should make a TV series about a guy called Heshy Tischler in NY.
Amongst other things, he’s involved in conflict resolution within the Jewish community.
Some of his stories are stranger than fiction.

No it is not “only at the margins”. In America it’s already been destructive to women’s sport. And what makes it worse is that people are cowered into silence because if they do speak up, they’re smeared as transphobes.

Lia Thomas is a cheat and a pervert. He’s using the female changerooms and dangling his dick for the other girls to see…and he still maintains that despite “identifying” as a woman he’s still attracted to women…..it’s his “lesbian dick”.

WA to lift hard border on March 3
Chloe Whelan
CHLOE WHELAN

Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan has announced that the Western Australian border will reopen to interstate and international travellers at 12:01am on March 3.

“It is now far safer to relax our hard border policies,” Mr McGowan said at a press conference this afternoon.

The changes mean that interstate arrivals will not have to quarantine upon entering Western Australia, provided they are triple vaccinated. They will need to take a rapid antigen test within 24 hours of arrival.

International arrivals will be required to register their travel, and must meet the federal requirements for entrance into Australia.

International arrivals into the state will be capped at 70 people per week, and unvaccinated returning Australians will still need to complete seven days of hotel quarantine.

The move comes as a surprise, given that Western Australia is in the midst of an Omicron outbreak.

Today, there were 202 new cases in the state, marking four consecutive days of record-breaking numbers.

It is not the first time a reopening date has been set for the state. Last month, Mr McGowan faced criticism for delaying a February 5 reopening date he had insisted was “locked in”.

Mr McGowan defended this delay, saying that he was waiting for booster rates to increase in the state.

Western Australia expects a third-dose rate of 70 percent by March 3, and a double-dose rate of almost 100%.

“This puts our state in the strongest position, unlike any other in the world,” Mr McGowan said.

“In any event, the virus is already here, and we cannot stop its spread.”

Mr McGowan defended the four-week delay on opening up, saying moving ahead on February 5, as originally planned, would have been a mistake amid the Omicron outbreak in the east of the country. That outbreak, he said, has “peaked” in the east.

He said four weeks of restrictions have “paid dividends,” allowing his government to set a date for reopening.

Donald J Trump

So, Crooked Hillary Clinton, one of the most corrupt politicians ever to run for President, can break into the White House, my apartment, buildings I own, and my campaign—in other words, she can spy on a Presidential candidate and ultimately the President of the United States—and the now totally discredited Fake News Media does everything they can not to talk about it. On the other hand, failed Gubernatorial candidate, Letitia James, can run for the office of AG on saying absolutely horrendous and false things about Donald Trump, a man she doesn’t know and has never met, go on to get elected, and then selectively prosecute him and his family. After viewing millions of pages of documents over many years, they come up with a “Fringe Benefits” case on a car, an apartment, and on grandchildren’s education. She is doing everything within their corrupt discretion to interfere with my business relationships, and with the political process. With the rest of the case, even Cy Vance, who just left the DA’s office without prosecuting anything additional, because there isn’t anything additional to prosecute—THERE IS NO CASE! The targeting of a President of the United States, who got more votes while in office than any President in History, by far, and is a person that the Radical Left Democrats don’t want to run again, represents an unconstitutional attack on our Country—and the people will not allow this travesty of justice to happen. It is a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in history—and remember, I can’t get a fair hearing in New York because of the hatred of me by Judges and the judiciary. It is not possible!

Actually we may be making slight progress. She’s not attempting to deny that such a performance would have been downmarket showboating.

Go bag your head, Timothy Nielsen. You kept raving at me about an obvious arithmetic mismatch that a simple thumb check against reality could show was wrog. I had no argument about that, in fact I went to the trouble of analysing it against the original paper. Notwithstanding that, I still see, and have seen here since, that figure of 82% being bandied about here still as legitimate. As the NEJM conclude, it is not.

TBH I don’t like the legal profession one little bit. I regard it as a hangover from the feudal system imposed on England in 1066.

Cut this shit out now, FFS.

1. You’re a monarchist anyway.
2. The Normans were not that different than the Saxons, they were better, they outlawed slavery.
3. The Saxons had slavery and their own form of feudalism.
4. Lawyers only exist as a profession (as we know it) because of judges in eyre and terminer, the church funding universities, a desire to act within the rule of law at least in form if not spirit…and as for equity as a source of “law” it is because of the pre eminent position of the archbishop of Canterbury chosen as chancellor later on, but this was a powerful post well before 1066! Not only that, but because of several insurrections, rebellions and wars to which the king was held to account. Post 1066 England had a Peasants Revolt, pre 1066 England had literal chattel slavery (thralls). Blame the Vikings if you must but the Scandinavians traded and immigrated into and out of England before the Viking Wars…
5. The Saxons had their own developed, hierarchical court system. Tithings, hundreds, shires…the King. Local courts, district courts, the supreme court, the High Court.
6. The Saxon line remarried into the Norman line. All monarchs after Henry I (starting with Empress Matilda) have both Norman and Saxon (and pre Bruce and Stewart) royal bloodlines.
7. The Feudal system more or less ended with the Tudors and they made the legal system much worse, starting with good intentions…

Unvaccinated people allowed to enter bottle shops in WA as State reaches 95 per cent double-dose vaxxed
Briana Fiore
The West Australian
Fri, 18 February 2022 4:03PM

Unvaccinated people will now be allowed to re-enter WA bottle shops, with 95 per cent of the population double jabbed.

After revealing WA would drop its hard border on March 3, Premier Mark McGowan said providing proof of vaccination for entry into liquor stores would no longer be required.

Mr McGowan said the change would come into effect immediately, meaning staff will no longer have to cop abuse for asking customers to show evidence of their COVID vaccination history.

“This has been done ahead of a review of other proof of vaccination and contact registration measures given that we’re entering the next phase of the pandemic,” Mr McGowan said.

Unvaccinated people have been banned from pubs, nightclubs and bars — but Mr McGowan did not drop the vaccine mandates for those venues during his Friday afternoon press conference.

The bottle shop mandate arrived on January 31 and had angered several small business owners.

At the time, Mr McGowan warned the mandates could last for years — but the bottle shop mandate lasted less than a month.

Liquor Stores Association WA president Peter Peck said the industry was delighted with the news.

Science!

New restrictions will be introduced in Western Australia as local COVID-19 case numbers continue to hit record highs.

The state reported 194 community cases on Friday – the highest daily infection figure since the start of the pandemic – up from 177 on Thursday, 115 on Wednesday and 48 on Tuesday.

Booze is not “restrictions” though, presumably.

Dutch sorry for ‘extreme violence’ against Indonesians

By Jan Hennop
AFP
3:09PM February 18, 2022
No Comments

The Netherlands Prime Minister has apologised to Indonesia after a study found that the Dutch army used “systematic and extreme violence” during Indonesia’s independence war.

Dutch forces burned villages and carried out mass detentions, torture and executions during the 1945-49 conflict, often with tacit government support, the four-year study by Dutch and Indonesian researchers said.

The findings shattered the long-held official Dutch line that there were only isolated incidents of excessive violence by its forces as the colony it had held for 300 years broke away.

“Today, on behalf of the Dutch government, I present my deepest excuses to the people of Indonesia for the systematic and extreme violence from the Dutch side in those years,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte told a press conference.

Mr Rutte said he was also sorry for the “subsequent blind eye by various previous Dutch governments”.

“We also apologise to all those living in The Netherlands who had to live with the consequences of the colonial war in Indonesia, including those war veterans who did behave appropriately.”

It is not the first apology by The Netherlands to Indonesia, as Dutch King Willem-Alexander formally apologised during a visit to Indonesia in 2020 for “excessive violence” during the war.

But it the first acknowledgment that there was effectively a deliberate campaign of violence.

The study is the latest step in The Netherlands’ recent attempts to grapple with its brutal colonial past, and wider efforts by former imperial powers around the world.

“The research shows that the vast majority of those who bore responsibility on the Dutch side – politicians, officers, civil servants, judges and others – had or could have had knowledge of the systematic use of extreme violence,” the researchers said.

“There was a collective willingness to condone, justify and conceal it, and to let it go unpunished. All of this happened with a view to the higher goal: that of winning the war,” they said.

War crimes were first revealed by a former Dutch veteran in 1969, but ever since then the official viewpoint has been that while “excesses” may have happened, Dutch forces on the whole behaved correctly.

The new research shatters that myth.

The crimes “included mass detentions, torture, burning of kampongs (homesteads), executions and killing of civilians”, Frank van Vree, a war history professor at the University of Amsterdam, said during an online presentation of the research.

Indonesia declared independence in 1945 shortly after Japanese occupation in World War II. But the Dutch wanted to retain their former colony, sending troops to quell the independence uprising, finally withdrawing in 1949.

Dutch fighting and bleeding for the locals was always tempered by the inconvenient truth that the locals collaborated enthusiastically on many occasions with the Japanese invaders. That may have had much to do with Dutch attitudes post 1945.

Declaration – for whatever reason, I’ve passed several quite convivial evenings, sitting around club and restaurant tables, with a few Dutch veterans of that campaign. Does my reputation suffer, in any way?

Apartheid by any other name is enforced in Melbourne. Nothing to do with alarmist sky is falling stuff. Likewise with the transgender travesties regarding which it is also not alarmist to note that women are mocked as is womanhood. Men and manhood, too. Humanity itself is mocked, belittled, dehumanised. Call the denoting of dehumanising practices ‘scaremongering’ if you’re ok with it to any extent. Otherwise, reject it.

On both sides of politics there is too much catastrophism. Be it climate, soil, population, pollution on the Left, or WOKE, COVID issues, or some secret cabal on the Right. And when their predictions of doom do not unfold rationalisation is the order of the day. It is enough to make me believe in Jung’s shadow concept. Look, there are problems in many areas but portraying these problems as leading to catastrophe is playing a political game not a rational or empirical one. Mencken noted that long ago. “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

If you want to play that game fine, it is just another reason why I think so much political debate has become so debased that I consider the paucity of reasonable and balanced insight to be a far bigger threat than the bogeyman that you are so worried about.

No.

Serfs were below freeman (ceorls) but above cottars.

Cottars were higher than slaves (thralls) – and slavery was permitted.

A fallen war hero has been dragged into Ben Roberts-Smith’s defamation lawsuit after a soldier with “performance issues” told the court he was bullied and threatened in the SAS.

Mr Roberts-Smith is suing Nine and its journalists over a series of articles claiming he was a war criminal who executed enemies and bullied his allies. He denies every allegation.

SAS soldiers have been testifying against Mr Roberts-Smith, and in defence of Nine, including a soldier known only as Person 1.

Person 1 previously told the court Mr Roberts-Smith threatened to put a bullet in the back of his head because he was not up to scratch for the SAS.

The SAS soldier, the court had heard, had put Mr Roberts-Smith and the entire Australian patrol in peril after forgetting to bring vital machine gun oil to a Taliban gunfight in the Chora Valley in 2006.

His “basic failure” left his troop, including Mr Roberts-Smith and Sergeant Matthew Locke, to fight off the Taliban that were advancing on their position.

Mr Roberts-Smith last year told the court Locke climbed a cliff face to stop a Taliban fighter outflanking them – and from there he held off the advancing enemy while exposed to gunfire.

The mission would earn Locke and Mr Roberts-Smith Medals for Gallantry. Locke, a close friend of Mr Roberts-Smith, was killed in action in October 2007 by the Taliban.

Mr Roberts-Smith’s barrister Bruce McClintock SC, on Friday said Mr Roberts-Smith, Sergeant Locke and another senior soldier had all said Person 1 should be removed from SAS operations because he was a danger to himself and others. Mr McClintock said the criticisms would have been “devastating” and asked Person 1 if he believed Locke had bullied him.

“You’re putting me in an awkward position to comment about an Australian war hero who can’t defend himself,” Person 1 said. “Matt Locke and I did not get along, I respected him as a soldier and I respected him as my 2IC.”

Under further questioning Person 1 told the court Locke had bullied him and pointed to a gathering at a pub back in Australia. Person 1 said Locke asked everyone to leave so he could to speak to him.

“He said I was a coward and I was incompetent and he would do everything he could to remove me from the unit,” Person 1 said.

Locke’s widow, Leigh Locke-Thomas, told The Weekend Australian in 2018 she was disgusted her husband had been roped into the defamation case. “I think, you poor bastard, you went up, you did your job, you defended your country, you lose your life … and you still get people saying this,” she said.

Not as far as I’m concerned. They don’t like men on bicycles. I still have a leg only because antibiotics were available after a dobermann cross bit me a few years ago.

but kelpies and cattle dogs are special

Especially not blue cattle dogs. I was chased by one last week, on bicycle. This lady knows me perfectly well, which didn’t stop he chasing after me and trying to bite me. I got off bike and told her off, she was very confused by this. Strange creature with wheels suddenly became someone she knew. Dogs can be dumb as rocks sometimes.

[TN] Well, that’s not an outright denial, so it needn’t be a cause of further dispute when I stick to my story.
Actually we may be making slight progress. She’s not attempting to deny that such a performance would have been downmarket showboating.

E(L)B] Go bag your head, Timothy Nielsen.

Firstly, your response is irrelevant to the actual quote from me you’re allegedly replying to.

Secondly, it’s bullshit.
Here’s where you first came in.

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bearesays:
October 11, 2021 at 4:59 pm
….It was such an elementary error I was astounded, for it showed the level of scientific incapability some of the anti-vaxxer population had. Not all of them, of course, but when such clear misinformation is peddled, it helps no-one sensible if it isn’t called out.

More prancing denunciation…

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bearesays:
October 11, 2021 at 5:44 pm

Yes, as I had picked up. Good to see that the proper result has now been put into a form readable by people who obviously couldn’t read a scientific paper, even a basic one.

I point out that the critics were using the authors’ own data…
Timothy Neilsonsays:
October 12, 2021 at 9:14 am

Now the authors themselves have admitted that they wrongly used 827 as the denominator. They admitted that the real critique, that 827-700=127, was totally correct.

Lizzie denies that the critics were using that data i.e. the 827 (inclusive of 700) and a 104 subset…

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bearesays:
October 12, 2021 at 6:16 pm
…it was very clear that there was an elementary confusion being made between the study population and the general population figures (perhaps trying to fit it into the back story of the table in the report). I don’t know what piece of wild imagining was going on in anti-vaxxland by this time about the incomplete way in which the data had been presented in the table I put up above, but the interpretation of the piece you put up was clearly confusing the two groups.

I try to set her straight…

Timothy Neilsonsays:
October 12, 2021 at 7:01 pm

No it didn’t. The critique about 827-700=127 clearly had nothing to do with any confusion with other data. You’ve utterly failed to explain how 827-700=127 could be derived from any such confusion. Because you can’t. You just keep asserting it and then handwaving.

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bearesays:
October 13, 2021 at 11:22 am
… So 827-700=127 is irrelevant. Others took that number and ran with it and in the original two column data sheet I saw they were conflating the two columns to try and make sense of this number, which is one of which no sense whatsoever could be made.

Yes, the cohort of 827 ‘completed’ pregnancies was poorly described in terms of spontaneous abortion. We do not know how many of the early trimester vaxxed were in it. Probably not many. As I’ve said from the start, promulgating the figure of 82% spontaneous abortions in a group of vaxxed women in gestation <20 weeks was promulgating something quite implausible which clearly was not happening.

Lizzie dismisses the possibility that 82% can be derived from the data…

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bearesays:
October 13, 2021 at 12:53 pm

How various commenters then treated this disparity became error upon error. I saw one set of commenters in the link made by you or whoever some weeks ago shrieking that 82% of vaxxed women were aborting. They actually were trying to combine the study data with the ‘contrast’ population data to explain these numbers. Maybe they were more complete loonies in doing that than most.

I point out the obvious…

Timothy Neilsonsays:
October 13, 2021 at 1:17 pm

Are you sure they weren’t doing simple arithmetic?
Like 104/127?
Comes out to 81.8% as best I can calculate it.
And that’s what all the critics were saying.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to show one single place between the commencement of your prancing, 11 October 4.59 pm, and when I pointed out the obvious to you on 13 October 1.17 pm, when you adverted even implicitly to the fact that 104/(827-700)=82%, i.e. clearly the way the critics reached 82%, as I’d told you all along.
