If you have natural immunity but have not received a COVID19 vaccine, then there is a good chance recovery from a re-infection could provide you with potent antibodies that neutralize SARS-1, SARS-2 (and all variants), MERS and maybe even common cold coronaviruses.
If I understand it, VanDen Bossche postulates that if you have natural immunity it is unlikely that you will have re-infection with any variant of Covid, since it is most likely that your immune system will recognise at least some part of the spike protein. However, as with most matters to do with this wretched virus, this opinion is contested.

Speaking of medical testing, a few years ago my GP gave me some Prexige at the time a new anti inflammatory. wow it was so good that lower back pain I was having was gone after the second pill.
after a week or so I noticed my blood pressure rising a lot so I went off the Prexige and a week later my BP was good, so back to Celebrex and some pain.
6 months later there was panic as fully tested and approved Prexige was removed from use as it was a killer. I was contacted and told to return my Prexige to the chemist or destroy it.
So much for fully tested and approved medicine, and you want me to try an untested and only emergency approved drug? My message is short and sweet, get fucked.

Hobart is poised to tear down the statue of a former premier, while flagging a broader purge, after a report found the city had too many monuments to โCaucasian malesโ.
The city council has been considering the removal of the large Franklin Square sculpture of William Crowther, a naturalist, surgeon and premier who, in 1869, was accused of severing and stealing the skull from an Aboriginal corpse.
A new council report, to be voted on this week, recommends spending $20,000 to remove the statute to storage, pending finding it another home, and $50,000 on โinterpretive elements onsiteโ.
The report complains there are too many white men memorialised across the city and recommends a new policy be adopted to guide further statue โadditions and removalsโ.
Aboriginal groups welcomed the moves, but some historians expressed concern the council was โopening the floodgatesโ to revision or erasure of colonial history.

I suppose if it’s not diarrhea then it’s constipation. The number of parties would be irrelevant, using the power of preferential voting, if a significant number of voters really wanted freedom. A Dutch officer was serving alongside the Canadian troops who liberated the town of Apeldoorn in 1944.
“And then a little girl with long golden hair tugged her father’s hand and cried “Look, Papa, a Dutch Lion!” She had spotted the emblem of the Netherlands Army. The father peered at me more closely , then threw up his hands and shouted “A Dutch officer!” The crowd surged around us. I was dragged from the driver’s seat and borne along shoulder high. Everyone wanted to touch me – to satisfy themselves I was real. As the first Dutch officer to enter Apeldoorn on liberation day, I shall never forget the scene of unalloyed joy, or the delight on the face of that little, fair-headed girl.”
Presumably it didn’t matter that the officer wasn’t LGBTGI?

We have to be very very careful about this, emotional blackmail is not how we should be thinking when we proceed to any referendum vote”

Alway follow the money.
The ABCโs Indigenous Affairs editor has said Aboriginal Australians deserve โreparationsโ as part of the reconciliation process and that any Indigenous voice to parliament should be โfeared and revered.โ
Bridget Brennan was speaking as part of a panel discussion on the ABC current affairs program Insiders when she made the comments, which went unchallenged by host David Speers and fellow panellists, Q&A host Stan Grant and the Guardian Australiaโs Lorena Allam.
โThis has to be about justice, this has to be about reparations,โ Ms Brennan said.
โIt has to be about giving some power to Aboriginal communities.
โThe parliament will have ultimate supremacy, of course, but what sort of transfer of power does this mean for Indigenous people because that needs to happen,โ she said.
Ms Brennan also said that any voice โdoes need to have teeth, it does need to be feared and revered,โ and suggested that something like indigenous Sami parliament which meets in Canada could be a model for Australia.
The comments suggested that despite Prime Minister Anthony Albaneseโs comments that the voice is โa simple proposition that is consistent with good manners,โ the jockeying over what powers an Indigenous advisory body might have has already begun.
An analysis of the 2021 report on the 272-page โIndigenous Voice Co-design Processโ found that โtraditional ownersโ were only mentioned 48 times while โeldersโ were mentioned just 20 leading to fears that the process was being hijacked by professional activists.
Writing on Facebook Sunday, Senator Jacinta Price, herself a Warlpiri-Celtic woman, said that โthe voice is being (led) by members of the Indigenous elite whoโve spent their lives on the backs of the most marginalised and changed nothing for them.โ
โThe voice to parliament is a gravy train attempting to ingrain itself into the constitution so despite its failures and lack of accountability can never be dismantled.โ

Stefan Molyneux had an interesting take as to why the world was hell bent on demonising the very group (white men) who were demonstrably responsible for inventing/building/discovering just about everything that went into making Western Civilisation- well – civilised:
He said it was to justify taking their stuff – just as soldiers are not told that the opposing players are ‘ordinary decent chaps who just happen to be on the wrong side’ – no, they are told their enemies are evil, subhuman, nun rapists, baby killers etc to break down the natural reluctance of one man to kill another.
Similarly, if you want to steal the white mans stuff, its much easier to justify it if you paint him as undeserving, a bigot, a thief, etc etc etc.
This should be interesting. All the mixed race Indigenous, being paid reparations?

As JC has pointed out, Chainerr is dependent on oil coming through the Malacca Strait. While their new-found love affair with the Poot can reduce that dependence, it will not eliminate it.
Add in the demographic problem (exacerbated by traditional Chinese family culture – they will not be happy to see their only child or grand child killed in a lost war), and they will be gambling everything if they have (and even draw, rather than lose) a war in the decade. After that, the demographic cliff looms.

I’ve been thinking a bit about qualification to vote for (or be) “Voice” delegates. It has to be firm enough to eliminate the Pascoes of the world, but still allow delegates form all groups.
Suggestion: Voters and candidates must meet at least two of the following criteria.
.1 At least one grandparent or three great grandparents to be of full aboriginal blood (note that no Tasmanian aboriginal could meet this criterion).
.2 Fully initiated into their tribal/skin people group.
.3 Spend a period of two weeks each year, living the traditional lifestyle, with no modern devices or products to assist them (except for a mobile phone or radio, to call for assistance if needed. Spears, boomerangs, stone knives, bark huts, etc only.
Any thoughts/reactions?

The Voice. Treaties. Money.
It is plain to see. Can the PM just tell us what he has in mind financially, to the nearest billion. The how much annually.
Even if your family came here after WW2 you will pay to compensate others for something that at the nearest happened to their grandparents.

Apologies.
Some glitches in the system caused problems with connecting to this Catallaxy site, yesterday. Hopefully, all resolved and okay, now.
If the Libs had a shred of testicular integrity they would drag the Shrine CEO fucker into a Senate Committee and expose his fabrication and hound him from office.
But they don’t and they won’t.
It has to be firm enough to rule out the Lidia Thorpes of the world….
GOEs arenโt where the action is. APS and welfare. Half the time ownership doesnโt even come into it – unless you start handing out Cartier watches.

I was born in London but claim Iโm an Australian Aboriginal.
I was born in County Durham but me Gran (mum’s side) was born in Golden Point, Victoria in 1859 so I’m, definitely, a starter in the reparations loot running ..
I hesitate to humour this appalling brain fart (The Voice).
I will note that anyone with even a drop of blood in their veins, other than Aboriginal, is a direct beneficiary of โthe invasionโ, and should not be eligible (except to pay reparations).
It is undeniable that half castes onwards would not exist in this country if settlement hadnโt occurred. We are then left with only full bloods being eligible.
Once we legislate this, I think the problem will naturally go away, and we need not worry about further conditions.
Materโs Musings #54: โYouโre the voice, try to understand itโ
Cassie:
I’d like to have a voice in this travesty of Constitutional reform, too.
But seeing as neither of the parties have any intention of allowing me to express my voice, there’s not much to be done.
To clarify, if 70% of the Australian voting public want the death penalty for Treason to be brought in, but neither of the major parties want it, where’s our voice?
We only get to select from an a la carte menu, and for what it’s worth, that’s not my idea of Democracy.
It is undeniable that half castes onwards would not exist in this country if settlement hadnโt occurred. We are then left with only full bloods being eligible.
excellent point! .. methinx all these “know-it-all experts” pushing the agenda haven’t twigged! .. LOL!
Fully initiated into their tribal/skin people group.
Cruel but fair.
There are, at the moment, probably about ten thousand “full bloods” at the most, in this country….I would gladly see only them being eligible…
Over at Quadrant, Peter Smith says he is “Buggered if I Know What โPrideโ is All About”….
There is no way recognition of aboriginality will ever be limited to full blood or 75 50 percent.
Just about all the current voices would be excluded
There is zero interest in even making it possible to identify Aboriginal DNA, not that not having any wouldn’t mean you didn’t have aboriginal heritage iirc
And I’m absolutely certain that while most aboriginal people can look back one two three generations and show evidence of discrimination and disadvantage but then again so can most people from most countries.
Just vote no.

Indeed. One aim is to reduce enthusiasm fir life “on country”, in the old style, and make modern civilisation seem more attractive than perpetual whining.
1. Tasmania is our India. All we need is Pakistani ISI agents stirring things up between northies and southies.
2. I wouldnโt mind if we had almost no statues of public figures. Cook, Artie Pip, Lachy Mac, Wentworth, Oxley, Sturt, Lalor, Parkes, Deakin, A I Clarke, Owen Dixon, Roden Cutler, Simpson, Dunlop, The Don, Wally Lewis, Phar Lap, Albert Jacka, Kingsford Smith, Florey, Farrer, Menzies, Clive Churchillโฆthat is about all an objective NSWelshman can stand – or at least the objective standard a luminary ought to reach.
3. poor olโ munter caught with his pants down again. The only โtotally voluntaryโ (thanks Morrison, you blundering authoritarian idiot) vaccine I have ever turned down was AZ and Fizzer – I held out for the far less worse Novavax (which the Commonwealth CHO says now ALL vaccines are useless against BA 4 & 5). That is the point of view many cats also have on the subject.

PML has to have a token leftie on such as that POS reece; tonight he has a skank called linda scott who opined that if you oppose rub and tug’s voice you are a racist. I thought big Cory was going to start strangling her and fat-boy PML.
This typifies the right; play fair, give the grubs on the left equal say while the left are busy destroying and obliterating every contrary voice to their propaganda. Some of the right are getting it: Cory, Latham, our Pauline, Roberts, Antic etc but the mainstream are fucking hopeless, still afflicted with notions of fairness and that there are rules which allow that idiot, howard and his broad church to exist.
for life ….
The RFDS guy gets a pass too, along with the poor Burke & Wills party.
Itโs a high bar, but one that prevents statues of Robert Trimboleโs little mates popping up.
If you think about it, if British settlement had not happened, none of the current fullbloods would be here either … there would be other full bloods, but not the current ones – Australia’s history changed so radically since settlement that harry would not have met sally, who would not have met …..
Just in terms of logic, what other major change has there been in the last couple of years? But, quite apart from that, I suspect that elite athletes would be among the most vaccinated populations, both in terms of travel and mandates. Just look at the fuss over Novak Djokovic sticking to his guns.
Ooh, let me guess!

Bradmanโs business practices donโt survive scrutiny (the modern term is โPhoenixโ)
Bradman was an employee, not an owner or director. He had no responsibility for the collapse, and in fact was one of the creditors who lost money.
Yes, his conduct in immediately establishing his own business was inevitably going to be seen as opportunistic, but accusations of wrongdoing are unfounded. He was a convenient scapegoat.
LOL.

Naughty minister!
NSW frontbencher Eleni Petinos has been sacked by Premier Dominic Perrottet after she was accused of bullying her staff.
The Australian revealed this week that Ms Petinos is facing allegations she called an adviser โretardedโ and โstupidโ, and threatened she would โkillโ them for making a small mistake, despite workplace safety being part of her portfolio responsibilities.
Late on Sunday night, Mr Perrottet said in a statement he had dumped Ms Petinos from cabinet after “further matters” had been brought to his attention.
“Today I spoke with the Minister for Small Business and Fair Trading Eleni Petinos after some further matters concerning her were brought to my attention,” Mr Perrottet said.
In light of these matters, Ms Petinosโ service as a minister will cease with immediate effect, and I will write to the Governor in this regard tomorrow.
“Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello will assume Ms Petinosโ portfolio responsibilities.”
Ms Petinos strenuously denies the allegations.
Hahaha. Typical Liberals. Sack first, investigate later. Hope they all fuck off and die.

The fact that Gillard did it is a good reverse indicator that it ought to be privatised.
Why the fuck would that be considered a selling point??
