Hahahahaha

A lot of people are wondering about the definition of recession. A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth if a Republican is president. The definition is far more complicated and unknowable if a Democrat is president.

On the previous page, scroll down a bit on the Twatter link “Say the line”. There is a photo of Linda Burney with three local aborigines at the Arnhem Land festival.

The difference in tonal shade between Burney and the three locals is stark. If I were one of them, I would not regard her as any kind of an indigenous “Voice” in Parliament either.

You’re hopeless head prefect. Shania’s ok but she looks like a chubby version of Rachel Ward. Get your eyes tested. Again.

.1 What is a typical testing period for a new vaccine, to the nearest whole year?

.2 How long was the testing period for the mRNA โ€œvaccinesโ€?

All the supposedly smart people at my former employer completely failed to answer these basic questions. They all brought the bullshit that you could accelerate the normal testing regime without cutting corners.

If you have natural immunity but have not received a COVID19 vaccine, then there is a good chance recovery from a re-infection could provide you with potent antibodies that neutralize SARS-1, SARS-2 (and all variants), MERS and maybe even common cold coronaviruses.

If I understand it, VanDen Bossche postulates that if you have natural immunity it is unlikely that you will have re-infection with any variant of Covid, since it is most likely that your immune system will recognise at least some part of the spike protein. However, as with most matters to do with this wretched virus, this opinion is contested.

Speaking of medical testing, a few years ago my GP gave me some Prexige at the time a new anti inflammatory. wow it was so good that lower back pain I was having was gone after the second pill.
after a week or so I noticed my blood pressure rising a lot so I went off the Prexige and a week later my BP was good, so back to Celebrex and some pain.
6 months later there was panic as fully tested and approved Prexige was removed from use as it was a killer. I was contacted and told to return my Prexige to the chemist or destroy it.

So much for fully tested and approved medicine, and you want me to try an untested and only emergency approved drug? My message is short and sweet, get fucked.

I’m saddened to see the demise of catallaxy-files. I found their informational wiki innovative and useful. I regularly read postings on this blog, hyphen and thecurrencylad.

However, as the Federal election proved, it’s the sign of our times. Hardly anybody voted for the freedom parties, even though there was lots of choice. Most people want even bigger government, gaining perverse satisfaction from their power to shackle the freedoms of others, ignorant in so doing, that they are enslaving their own. Hence their overwhelming votes for LNP socialists or Marxist Labor/Greens.

Some people here rejoice that many of the woke Liberals lost. LNP performance so far indicates they’ve been more than replaced by a new wave.

So, I suppose I should be grateful that there are still a few blogs supporting liberty, that are worth reading. But it seems that we are a dying breed.

Socialism works really really well until you run out of money.

Argentinaโ€™s Government Collapsing, People Refuse To Work Amid Major Subsidy Cuts (31 Jul)

Cuts to subsidies in the energy sector based on household income already began in June.

Other subsidies, including the countryโ€™s notorious welfare program, are also on the chopping block, triggering thousands of angry residents to take to the streets.

State-sponsored aid for civilians has soared in the past 20 years, leaving 22 million Argentinians dependent on some form of government assistance.

In the first quarter of 2022, the national employment rate was 43 percent, according to government figures.

Harry Lorenzo, chief finance officer of Income Based Research, told The Epoch Times the spending habits of Argentinaโ€™s government are at the root of the escalating problem.

โ€œThe Argentine government has been grappling with a collapsing economy for some time now. The main reason for this is the governmentโ€™s unsustainable spending, which has been funded in part by generous welfare programs,โ€ Lorenzo explained.

Maybe Argy voters should stop voting for lefties. It’s a thought. After all every single lefty government since Eva was sultry has promised the moon and the stars then left you in the excrement.

To begin with, I think there were too many freedom parties and it was distracting. I voted LDP here in Wentworth, I don’t regret the vote. As for the United Australia Party, I really think Fatty Clive, if he was serious about politics rather than being serious about playing the clown, should take a leaf out of Svengali Simon’s play book and, rather than run candidates in every seat, instead focus on between five and ten critical seats. But Clive isn’t serious about anything….he just prefers to be a nuisance.

Hobart is poised to tear down the statue of a former premier, while flagging a broader purge, after a report found the city had too many monuments to โ€œCaucasian malesโ€.

The city council has been considering the removal of the large Franklin Square sculpture of William Crowther, a naturalist, surgeon and premier who, in 1869, was accused of severing and stealing the skull from an Aboriginal corpse.

A new council report, to be voted on this week, recommends spending $20,000 to remove the statute to storage, pending finding it another home, and $50,000 on โ€œinterpretive elements onsiteโ€.

The report complains there are too many white men memorialised across the city and recommends a new policy be adopted to guide further statue โ€œadditions and removalsโ€.

Aboriginal groups welcomed the moves, but some historians expressed concern the council was โ€œopening the floodgatesโ€ to revision or erasure of colonial history.

I think there were too many freedom parties

I suppose if it’s not diarrhea then it’s constipation. The number of parties would be irrelevant, using the power of preferential voting, if a significant number of voters really wanted freedom. The aim of running candidates in every seat was to maximise their Senate votes. The abject failure is that most Australians are scared to be free.

Maybe Argy voters should stop voting for lefties

Likewise Australian sheeple are confident that wreckage caused by big government can be solved by even bigger government.

By the way, in my day we didn’t have a human rights commision, anti-discrimination commission or a truth commissar. People solved their own problems and it worked superbly. View “They’re a Wierd Mob” on Netflix to see how this worked.

Lawyers make their money by provoking arguments amongst people. Without fanning racial hatreds, the extravagently paid lawyers working for the Racial Discrimination Commission would be out of a job.

I think Albanese well understands Australians and the voting system, otherwise he wouldn’t have been elected as Prime Minister. He seems to be very confident his shadow Aboriginal Parliament will pass the Constitution vote without any details. I wouldn’t be surprised.

The CCP is facing a demographic cliff, of their own making.

Trying to have a competitive communist country ends up with lying flat. You might be able to entice people into a bought of productivity, but in the end it fails because youโ€™re ultimately bullshitting them.

I think the potential problem will resolve itself, internally, within China. Thatโ€™s not to say that we shouldnโ€™t carry a big stick. (As opposed to Australiaโ€™s floppy rainbow stick.)

Resistance, by Halik Kochanski, Page 792

A Dutch officer was serving alongside the Canadian troops who liberated the town of Apeldoorn in 1944.

“And then a little girl with long golden hair tugged her father’s hand and cried “Look, Papa, a Dutch Lion!” She had spotted the emblem of the Netherlands Army. The father peered at me more closely , then threw up his hands and shouted “A Dutch officer!” The crowd surged around us. I was dragged from the driver’s seat and borne along shoulder high. Everyone wanted to touch me – to satisfy themselves I was real. As the first Dutch officer to enter Apeldoorn on liberation day, I shall never forget the scene of unalloyed joy, or the delight on the face of that little, fair-headed girl.”

Presumably it didn’t matter that the officer wasn’t LGBTGI?

The LNP lost the election because they betrayed their supporters and the people of Australia. Pretty simple really. People elected LNP governments in 2014, 2016 and 2019 only to be treated with complete contempt. I voted for Abbot in 2014 and got Trumble and the Paris betrayal- enough’s enough. Still beyond me how anyone could vote for Anal though. Unless I’m mistaken, more people voted for Scummo but Commo preferences got the campus marxist in.

“The mainstream media are part of the gaslighting. They have got a lot to answer for. They are not connected to these people out in remote communities, they’re not interested in them. They’re pushing this gaslighting agenda which is like a dictatorship that suggests they’re using emotional blackmail to push Australians toward a “yes” vote. We have to be very very careful about this, emotional blackmail is not how we should be thinking when we proceed to any referendum vote”

The same template was used in the SSM debate, if you were against SSM you were smeared as a homophobe, a bigot and so on, with this “Voice’ nonsense we’ll be smeared as racist, racist, racist.

So be it. Names can’t hurt me. I don’t care anymore.

Thus, these so called betrayed supporters, using exquisite logic, decided to go full Marxist, instead of choosing freedom. Likewise, the many who stayed loyal to LNP, preferred to vote for a new wave of LNP wokeness, rather than the freedom parties.

I guess only an antibody test would be more reliable โ€“ though I gather that even this test is not conclusive.

Nope, antibody tests, even if highly specific (which they may not be) can only look for antibodies. The problem with that is that antibodies are only one part of the immune system. If you defeat the virus easily (because your immune system is in good shape and has seen something similar before), you may not even need to produce antibodies, and even if you do, you dont produce them forever … if you did, you blood would be full of them.

Alway follow the money.

The ABCโ€™s Indigenous Affairs editor has said Aboriginal Australians deserve โ€œreparationsโ€ as part of the reconciliation process and that any Indigenous voice to parliament should be โ€œfeared and revered.โ€

Bridget Brennan was speaking as part of a panel discussion on the ABC current affairs program Insiders when she made the comments, which went unchallenged by host David Speers and fellow panellists, Q&A host Stan Grant and the Guardian Australiaโ€™s Lorena Allam.

โ€œThis has to be about justice, this has to be about reparations,โ€ Ms Brennan said.

โ€œIt has to be about giving some power to Aboriginal communities.

โ€œThe parliament will have ultimate supremacy, of course, but what sort of transfer of power does this mean for Indigenous people because that needs to happen,โ€ she said.

Ms Brennan also said that any voice โ€œdoes need to have teeth, it does need to be feared and revered,โ€ and suggested that something like indigenous Sami parliament which meets in Canada could be a model for Australia.

The comments suggested that despite Prime Minister Anthony Albaneseโ€™s comments that the voice is โ€œa simple proposition that is consistent with good manners,โ€ the jockeying over what powers an Indigenous advisory body might have has already begun.

An analysis of the 2021 report on the 272-page โ€œIndigenous Voice Co-design Processโ€ found that โ€œtraditional ownersโ€ were only mentioned 48 times while โ€œeldersโ€ were mentioned just 20 leading to fears that the process was being hijacked by professional activists.

Writing on Facebook Sunday, Senator Jacinta Price, herself a Warlpiri-Celtic woman, said that โ€œthe voice is being (led) by members of the Indigenous elite whoโ€™ve spent their lives on the backs of the most marginalised and changed nothing for them.โ€

โ€œThe voice to parliament is a gravy train attempting to ingrain itself into the constitution so despite its failures and lack of accountability can never be dismantled.โ€

Perhaps because Caucasian males did things that were noteworthy.

Stefan Molyneux had an interesting take as to why the world was hell bent on demonising the very group (white men) who were demonstrably responsible for inventing/building/discovering just about everything that went into making Western Civilisation- well – civilised:

He said it was to justify taking their stuff – just as soldiers are not told that the opposing players are ‘ordinary decent chaps who just happen to be on the wrong side’ – no, they are told their enemies are evil, subhuman, nun rapists, baby killers etc to break down the natural reluctance of one man to kill another.

Similarly, if you want to steal the white mans stuff, its much easier to justify it if you paint him as undeserving, a bigot, a thief, etc etc etc.

I think the potential problem will resolve itself, internally, within China. Thatโ€™s not to say that we shouldnโ€™t carry a big stick. (As opposed to Australiaโ€™s floppy rainbow stick.)

As JC has pointed out, Chainerr is dependent on oil coming through the Malacca Strait. While their new-found love affair with the Poot can reduce that dependence, it will not eliminate it.

Add in the demographic problem (exacerbated by traditional Chinese family culture – they will not be happy to see their only child or grand child killed in a lost war), and they will be gambling everything if they have (and even draw, rather than lose) a war in the decade. After that, the demographic cliff looms.

Guardian Australia deletes reference to โ€˜so-calledโ€™ stolen generations in Archie Roach obituary

Sophie Elsworth
Media Writer
An hour ago July 31, 2022
No Comments

The Guardian Australia on Sunday removed an offensive reference in its obituary of singer-songwriter Archie Roach, in which it was claimed the 66-year-old was a member of the โ€œso-calledโ€ Stolen Generations.

The piece was published following Roachโ€™s death on Saturday. The obituary stated that Roach โ€œwas one of the so-called Stolen Generations of Aboriginal children who were forcibly removed from their families by government agencies for almost 100 years, under protection era laws and policiesโ€.

The โ€œso-calledโ€ reference spurred outrage on social media but remained unchanged from Saturday night until it was updated in the early hours of Sunday.

A Guardian spokeswoman said on Sunday the article was a โ€œpre-written obituary and the copy was updated this morningโ€.

A clarification underneath the obituary was also added.

โ€œThis article was amended on 31 July to remove a poorly worded reference to the โ€˜so-called Stolen Generationsโ€™,โ€ the clarification reads.

โ€œThis was intended to introduce the term to a global audience and not in any way question the existence or experience of the Stolen Generations.โ€

Indigenous businessman and SBS board member Warren Mundine said using the phrase โ€œso-called Stolen Generationsโ€ was โ€œa big insultโ€, particularly to Roach, a man who โ€œwas loved by all Australiansโ€.

โ€œIโ€™m flabbergasted that they (the Guardian) would make comments like this within 24 hours of his death โ€“ itโ€™s quite bizarre. Why would you make those comments at any time?โ€ he said. โ€œThis is a man who suffered in his early life from that experience.โ€

Mundine spoke fondly of Roach and questioned why the offensive reference wasnโ€™t picked up by an editor at the Guardian before it was posted on its website.

Just in terms of logic, what other major change has there been in the last couple of years? But, quite apart from that, I suspect that elite athletes would be among the most vaccinated populations, both in terms of travel and mandates. Just look at the fuss over Novak Djokovic sticking to his guns.

Such sad news. His story will live on. I am teaching a unit to a year 10 class this coming week on the Stolen Generation, and as always, I begin it with his song Took the Children away. This time I am also using some of the teaching material he prepared to go with the song and book he wrote.

He went to an auction and bid 10 pounds for a jeep, and got it. Wasnโ€™t going so he spent a few days trying to organise a trailer. When he turned up the depot bloke thought it a bit funny. Heโ€™d actually bid on a line of jeeps, and had actually bought 20 for 10 pounds.

What a time to be alive if you were a museum owner – Beaufighters, Spitfires, Hurricanes, Me 109s, FW 190a/d models, Churchills, T34, 88mm Flak, Nebelwerfer, Lancasters, Wellingtons, Ju88,87, 86.
I once had a picture of German armour in a stack (a Stack!) of about at least 100 AFVs on their way to the foundry for melting down. Tigers I & II, Panthers, Jagtigers, Jagdpanthers Mk IVs, enough to make a collector get moist over.
And now scrabbling for bits of bent superstructure to restore stuff that has been sitting in fields for 70 years.

Bradmanโ€™s business practices donโ€™t survive scrutiny (the modern term is โ€˜Phoenixโ€™)

Bradman was an employee, not an owner or director. He had no responsibility for the collapse, and in fact was one of the creditors who lost money.
Yes, his conduct in immediately establishing his own business was inevitably going to be seen as opportunistic, but accusations of wrongdoing are unfounded. He was a convenient scapegoat.

Naughty minister!

NSW frontbencher Eleni Petinos has been sacked by Premier Dominic Perrottet after she was accused of bullying her staff.

The Australian revealed this week that Ms Petinos is facing allegations she called an adviser โ€œretardedโ€ and โ€œstupidโ€, and threatened she would โ€œkillโ€ them for making a small mistake, despite workplace safety being part of her portfolio responsibilities.

Late on Sunday night, Mr Perrottet said in a statement he had dumped Ms Petinos from cabinet after “further matters” had been brought to his attention.

“Today I spoke with the Minister for Small Business and Fair Trading Eleni Petinos after some further matters concerning her were brought to my attention,” Mr Perrottet said.

In light of these matters, Ms Petinosโ€™ service as a minister will cease with immediate effect, and I will write to the Governor in this regard tomorrow.

“Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello will assume Ms Petinosโ€™ portfolio responsibilities.”

Ms Petinos strenuously denies the allegations.

Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance has scrapped plans to light up the site in rainbow colours after staff were threatened and abused.

The landmark was set to be illuminated in rainbow light on Sunday ahead of an exhibition celebrating LGBTQ personnel in the armed forces.

The exhibition and a Last Post service will still go ahead, however, Shrine of Remembrance chief executive Dean Lee said the lighting had been cancelled

Itโ€™s interesting re this โ€˜big governmentโ€™ thing- werenโ€™t all these โ€˜privatisationsโ€™ meant to make big government a thing of the past? We actually are less free that when the Commonwealth Bank, TAA, Qantas and Telecom were owned by the feds. I canโ€™t say it kept me awake at night the phones where a Commonwealth responsibility. Nor could I get too excited about the privatisation Telstra- just lotsa fees for Boston Consulting.

Youโ€™re not wrong, but so what?

Kyoto Treaty
Public Health Acts
National Firearms Agreements
Various National security laws
Recent and absurd data retention and snooping laws
John Howardโ€™s middle class welfare*

Have nothing at all to do with privatisation.

*Maybe the public want their cake and to eat it too.

The NBN is the greatest argument against government ownership and Gillard buying Star Track express simply was done out of spite to fuck up and future, simple privatisation of AusPost.

The fact that Gillard did it is a good reverse indicator that it ought to be privatised.
