Equity= code for Marxism.

Biden’s Covid Czar Dr. Ashish Jha on Friday said he doesn’t want life in the US to go back to normal.

Dr. Jha wants to build a ‘new normal’ that has “equity” at the heart of it.

The Biden Regime just says the quiet part out loud now.

“I’ve heard Secretary Cardona say this over and over again. You know, people do talk about going back to normal… and I’ve heard the secretary say, ‘well, you know, normal wasn’t working out so well every-for some people,” Jha said.

Euroa Nat Candidate schmoozing the crowd. Another young woman who probably has zero substance…

Observations before footy, over half of the business seems Government or Govt backed. Similar to what I have seen elsewhere in Vic. When this place crashes going to be ugly and well worse than Kirner…

Poland demands war compo from Germany
Staff WritersReuters
Thu, 1 September 2022 8:11PM

Poland estimates its World War II losses caused by Germany at 6.2 trillion zlotys ($A1.92 trillion), the leader of the country’s ruling nationalists says, and he said Warsaw would officially demand reparations.

The new estimate tops the $US850 billion estimate by a ruling party lawmaker from 2019.

The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) has repeated calls for compensation several times since it took power in 2015, but Poland hasn’t officially demanded reparations.

“The sum that was presented was adopted using the most limited, conservative method, it would be possible to increase it,” Jaroslaw Kaczynski, leader of Law and Justice (PiS), told a news conference.

The combative stance towards Germany, often used by PiS to mobilize its constituency, has strained relations with Berlin. It intensified after Russia invaded Ukraine amid criticism of Berlin’s dependence on Russian gas and its slowness in helping Kyiv.

Some six million Poles, including three million Polish Jews, were killed during the war and Warsaw was razed to the ground following a 1944 uprising in which about 200,000 civilians died. From American Thinker

America: In the Midst of a Communist Color Revolution
By Shari Goodman
Many thought it was odd that during the entire time leading up to the last election, Joe Biden rarely campaigned and refused to come out of his “basement,” while President Trump held huge rallies with more than 50,000 in attendance.

Whenever Biden did step out of his basement, the numbers in attendance could be summed up as a few dozen here and there.

Anyone with eyesight could see that Trump was on his way to victory which made Biden’s invisibility was incomprehensible.

With hindsight, Biden, and the cabal behind him, had no need to campaign because his selection was smugly secured. As Biden, in a rare moment of truth, once stated, “We have assembled the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of the United States”. He and his cabal (George Soros called it a “temporary glitch”) were not going to permit a replay of 2016 once again. They were simply going to take the presidency by any means necessary.

With more than enough evidence to support the charge the 2020 presidential election was stolen by the Democrats through a myriad of mechanisms, representative government is no longer a guaranteed option. Using hackable voting machines, Zuckerbucks, mail-in ballots, zero voter IDs, and ballot harvesting as the means for voting, Americans no longer trust the integrity of elections.

On his first day in office, Biden began to issue his exhaustive list of executive orders to undo the policies President Trump enacted in his mission to transplant our constitutional republic into a socialist/communist state. He and his cabal wasted no time marketing the new language of “wokeism” to an unsuspecting, gullible public.

Following the playbook of past communist revolutions, erasing our history began immediately (and even in the summer before) with the destruction of historical statues and monuments by Antifa and BLM mobs, the unofficial paramilitary arm of the DNC.

Our new administration said and did nothing as statues were torn down, blocks of cities burned, stores looted while police and civilians were murdered. Along this backdrop and a first in our history, a barbed wire fence was erected around the Capitol with 20,000 National Guardsmen standing guard to protect the Thief-in-Chief and his accomplices. The hundreds, if not thousands, who engaged in actual physical violence were not arrested; nor charged for the nationwide chaos and destruction they caused. The irony of it did not go unnoticed when hundreds of January 6 protesters were arrested, charged, and placed in jail indefinitely for the crime of trespassing at the Capitol in what increasingly appears to have been an inside job by Capitol Police, some members of Congress, and Antifa thugs masquerading as Trump supporters.

The FBI and the DOJ are holding 14,000 hours of video tape which they refuse to release for fear it may incriminate them; however, there are several viewable public videos which vindicate and exonerate the Trump supporters. The videos show Trump supporters openly being led into the Capitol building by Capitol police. If it was, as the mainstream pundits like to point out an “armed insurrection,” then why would the Capitol Police usher in “armed protesters” into the Capitol building? Clearly, they were unarmed, and the entire narrative was a set-up!

As the Biden administration began to operate, Cultural Marxism was inconspicuously introduced using palatable language such as “equity,” “intersectionality,” “love is love,” “white privilege,” Critical Race Theory, gender fluidity, and social emotional learning. We encounter it in our schools, universities, our press and media, television programs, our news, movies, corporations, and in all professional walks of life. Politically incorrect views are not tolerated in the classroom or in the boardroom.

You’ll Never Think About Solar Panels Again After Seeing This (Watch)
These 2 Vegetables Will Kill Your Belly And Arm Fat Overnight!

Censorship is alive on the information highways by Big Tech at the urging and illegal demands of the FBI and the Biden administration. With the advancement of communism, equity is now the principal criteria upon entrance into medical school, law school and in the hiring practices of airline pilots. Where once the goal was a colorblind society, today there is open discrimination against Whites in the pursuit of equity. In the field of science and medicine where data was once held up to scrutiny, those who question or criticize scientific findings are marginalized, ostracized, and often fired from their positions.

Parents, frustrated with school curriculums that divide today’s students by race and gender, have made their voices heard at school board meetings throughout the land. In return, the DOJ’s Merrick Garland, has labeled parents who seek a voice in their children’s curriculum “domestic terrorists”. The agenda to sexualize our children and to designate them as non-binary continues as children are asked not to tell their parents of what goes on in the classroom. When drag queens are invited into classrooms for story time and when children are taught there are more than two sexes, it is a sign we have lost our grip on public education and the moral compass of future generations is now in doubt.

Civility and respect for our institutions have declined dramatically as obscenities in language and dress have become the norm. Norms and mores are non-existent. Once respected and held in esteem, judges and teachers are now threatened by roaming bands of virtuous leftist demonstrators at their place of work and in their homes while the DOJ and the FBI silently stand by. To make matters worse, elected officials such as Sen. Chuck Schumer, Rep. Maxine Waters, and Vice President Kamala Harris openly defy their oath of office when they encourage violence and threats against their opposition. To date, they have paid no price for their shameful endorsements of lawlessness. While on the other hand, President Trump, his advisors, attorneys, and supporters have been subjected to numerous investigations. Some, such as Trump advisor Peter Navarro have been arrested, shackled, their phones confiscated, and jailed.

The raid on President Trump’s home on August 4 by more than 30 armed FBI agents over something not clearly defined has set a new precedent. Never in the history of our country did a president raid the home of his predecessor and potential rival in the next presidential election. The search warrant was issued by a former defense attorney for Jeffrey Epstein’s employees-turned-federal magistrate, and whose prior Facebook comments clearly showed a bias against President Trump. His warrant and the heavily redacted affidavit used to justify the warrant are highly suspect, especially considering President Trump’s cooperation with the National Archives. Initially, Biden denied he knew of the raid ahead of its execution, but it has now come to light that Biden was the one who authorized the raid on his political opponent. Americans are rightfully asking whether the FBI is now Biden’s personal Gestapo?

As I write this, Biden in a speech in Maryland to supporters declared “You MAGA right wingers will need a lot more than guns to fight this government, you will need F-15s.”

What a shameful ominous display of goading and threats from a man who considers half of this country his enemy.

Is Biden now threatening to use the military against his own population? Does the FBI, whose role it is to protect us from the enemy, now consider fellow Americans the enemy? Words have power, and as Biden and his administration continue to refer to Trump supporters as “white nationalists” and “semi-fascists,” it is eerily reminiscent of Hitler’s and Goebel’s tactical use of language to dehumanize Jews. The dehumanization of Jews was used as a justification for their elimination.

It should be noted that in 1943, the following directive was issued from party headquarters to all communists in the United States. It read:

When certain obstructionists become too irritating, label them – after suitable build-ups – as Fascist, Nazi, or Anti-Semitic, and use the prestige of anti-fascist and tolerance organizations to discredit them.

In the public mind, constantly associate those who oppose us with those names which already have a bad smell. The association will, after enough repetition, become fact in the public mind.

Biden and his cabal are replaying the communist playbook here in America to advance a communist mission.

Considering the seven years of persecution against the former president and his associates, it is reasonable to ask if millions of Trump supporters will be next?

Mark Zuckerberg has openly admitted on Joe Rogan’s podcast that the FBI specifically asked Facebook to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story lest it influence the 2020 election. That explained a lot.

According to one poll, some 47% of voters including 71% of Democrats polled have stated that they would have changed their vote had they known the laptop story was not disinformation.

In essence, the FBI interfered with the outcome of a presidential election and in the process democracy was erased. Justice demands a redress. By asking for a redress, considering all the evidence of election interference, do we risk arrest for challenging the election? Will we be hounded by the newly hired 87,000 armed IRS agents?

President John F. Kennedy in a speech to the American Press Association in April of 1961 warned: “For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence — on infiltration instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, economic, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.”

Today, Kennedy’s prophetic words have come to life as every agency and institution we once relied upon to protect us can no longer be trusted.

When a former president is treated as the enemy, his supporters designated as “white nationalists,” parents are declared “domestic terrorists,” and censorship is employed throughout the country, we may no longer be living in a constitutional republic.

Tariffs on Australian wine from China have created an oversupply of red wine and global freight issues and led to a downturn in red grape prices, with the pain expected to continue past the 2023 vintage.

Next will come the demand from the Chinese Government on some utterly unrelated front, and when we cave on that, bingo the tariffs will be lifted.
Any trade with China is fraught with danger.
We should now retaliate on an entirely different front to let them be aware that we can play this game too.
Perhaps it’s the only way we will ever find out who China has working for them when they retaliate to us.

90,525 people turned up at the MCG tonight for one of the matches of the AFL season, the qualifying final between top four sides Geelong and Collingwood.

My chiropractor in Drysdale, 30 kms from Geelong, tells me he once took his two young children, both Cats fans, to the MCG for a Geelong-Richmond game. They were terrified of the ferals of the Tiger army, spitting abuse not only at Cats players, but their fans in the crowd.

About 80% of tonight’s MCG crowd were Pies fans, who also spat abuse at Cats players and their fans.
They were also intimidating their own Pies players: don’t you DARE lose this match.

As it turns out, the Cats beat the Pies by a goal but, had the Cats been beaten, their fans couldn’t have cared less: the Cats won the 2007, 2009 and 2011 premierships – their first since the 1963 flag.

Cats fans aren’t ferals like the inner-city ferals who barrack for the Pies, the Tigers and the Carlton Blues.

Cats fans are mostly country people with lives outside of their football team and many of them are farmers, who run small businesses on the land.

Come what may, they will still be gathering around the players race at Kardinia Park in round one 2023 chanting “GEE-LONG *clap*clap*clap*”

They aren’t true Australian sports fans who demand victory at any cost – every year.

Cats fans are quite passive – even effeminate and mostly female, like my sister.

But they’re aren’t ferals like the footy fans in inner suburban Melbourne, who are antifa-style hoodlums without the lunatic ideology.

So the Cats’ fate is sealed: because their fans demand nothing of them, in two weeks they will meet the winner of the semi-final between the Melbourne Demons and the Brisbane Bears and, after beating the Cats in the prelim on the second-last Saturday in September, the Dees will get their wish of their first premiership since 1964 in front of their fans at the MCG, even if it is via the long way of four finals following their defeat this weekend by the Bondi Surfies.*

*The Dees, who were an VFL powerhouse in the 1950s, won last year’s flag in Perth, which doesn’t count for an AFL football purist.

Hillary Clinton had emails on server more classified than top secret (CBS News)

The private email server Clinton used while secretary of state contained “several dozen emails containing classified information determined by the [intelligence community] element to be at the CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET, and TOP SECRET/SAP levels,” the inspector general, Charles McCullough, wrote in the letter, which was first reported by Fox News. “SAP” stands for special access programs, which carry a classification level higher than top secret.
And not a damned thing happened to her for it. No FBI raids in the middle of the night to seize the server before she wiped it, nothing.

I worked in a three letter agency for over 20 years. Point 1.) Had I had SAP materials at home I would have done goal time. 2.) More poignantly, one cannot get ECI/SAP materials off the system: you can’t just email from an TS/Codeword system to your Hotmail account! These systems are “closed”. If Clinton had electronic materials on her home server, a shitload of people deliberately broke a shitload of security protocols. I’m no conspiracy theorist but I suspect nobody investigated because nobody wanted to know the answers (who authorised the data transfers?).

Note Trumps allegations revolve around printed copies of materials (relatively easy to get out of the building for someone on the inside and who wants to get the materials out) as opposed to Clinton’s electronic data (Impossible to get off an SCI system without someone authorising it, and somebody else again facilitating the transfer via sneaker-net. Every step meticulously recorded with all kinds of manual and electronic safeguard, so how did one of multiple Security Audits at this level not flag it, and not follow up with a great deal of vigour and attitude?).

For Clinton to have SAP data on a home server would have required an almost conspiratorial level of wilful malfeasance by a large range of actors. Clinton, I suspect, got away with it because it would open a giant, stinking can of worms nobody wanted to deal with.

Tonight I watched “Thirteen Days” again. Brings to mind those memories of ’62.
I was then a 22yr old nurse at a large suburban Sydney hospital. I was working in men’s public medical ward. Morning papers, Tele and SMH were delivered by trolley from the hospital shop. Evening papers, Sun and Mirror were delivered after visiting hours in the afternoon. For two weeks in Oct ’62 the headlines were strewn across the beds of the patients I nursed. There was nothing political in the discussions we heard or took part in regarding the Cuban Crisis. It was though a tense time which we felt. Jokes were few and the mood was sombre.
I finished a 2-11 pm shift and met with other nurses on a balcony of the Nurses Home where we drank coffee and smoked cigs, not knowing if it was worthwhile going to bed that night if there was going to be no tomorrow. I finally went to bed about 1:30am as I was scheduled to be on duty at 6am. By 3:30pm that afternoon after finishing my shift I wasn’t even tired. Just relieved and happy.

My birth team is Melbourne and I was around for the 50s-60s glorious years, so I’m unlikely ever to barrack for Collingwood, and glad that Geelong won today. It was a good game. I was impressed with the way the two teams mingled good naturedly after the game though. I don’t see many Geelong games, but isn’t Joel Selwood meant to finish the game covered in blood? Also it was good that the Collingwood coach didn’t burst into tears! As for the supporters, I’ve met many quite reasonable people who claim allegiance to Collingwood, to my surprise; also I heard a few years ago that there is a larger number of Melb Cricket Club members who support Collingwood, not Melbourne. On the game today, I do like the way Chris Scott had his team stand to attention respectfully for the national anthem.

THE PLAGUE OF GREEN ELEPHANTS
By Viv Forbes -August 31, 2022

Perhaps the world’s biggest Green Elephant is being bred in Australia’s Northern Territory. This green folly would connect the world’s biggest collection of solar “farms”, wind turbines and batteries to Singapore via the world’s longest under-sea extension cord across a deep submarine trench that is subject to many earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.

These disastrous Green adventures are driven by the UN Billionaires’ club and promoted endlessly by government media and education bureaucracies, and vocal vested interests.

This plague of Green Elephants will destroy our industries, our farms and our access to cheap reliable fuels and electricity.

Queensland Indigenous leader facing violence, drug charges

One of Queensland’s most influential Aboriginal leaders has been charged with domestic violence offences and supplying methamphetamines in the state’s remote northwest.

Murrandoo Yanner, who in the 1990s famously led the successful fight for First Nations people to hunt traditional food on their country, fronted Mt Isa Court on Friday charged with five counts of dangerous drug supply, one count of possession, one count of fraud and two counts of unlawful stalking, a domestic violence offence.

He was arrested at Burketown in the Gulf of Carpentaria late last month.

A Mt Isa magistrate will decide whether to grant Mr Yanner, 50, bail on Tuesday after police opposed his application.

Police on Friday said Mr Yanner’s five drug supply charges were for the supply of methylamphetamine, cannabis and MDMA (ecstasy)

“On August 25 a 50-year-old Burketown man was charged with five counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful stalking (domestic violence offence) and one count each of fraud, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime and damaging evidence with intent,” a police statement read.

Mr Yanner is a Gangalidda man from Burketown, in the lower Gulf, who served as the chief executive of the Carpentaria Land Council Aboriginal Corporation between 1992 and 2001 before becoming an ATSIC commissioner for a year.

He rose to prominence in 1994 when he used a traditional form of harpoon to catch two small crocodiles on Aboriginal land near Doomadgee, in the Gulf.

He and other members of the Gunnamulla clan caught and ate the crocodile meat, and Mr Yanner froze the remaining meat and kept the skins.

He was charged with taking and keeping fauna without a permit under Queensland’s Fauna Conservation Act. Mr Yanner went on to win a High Court battle confirming hunting, gathering and fishing rights of Indigenous people.

The majority of High Court judges – led by then chief justice Murray Gleeson – found Mr Yanner did not contravene the state law because it did not extinguish his rights as a native title holder.

The court was told the Gangalidda people of the Gulf had always sustainably hunted and fished in the river systems of the region, and the crocodile was part of their traditional diet.

In 1996, Mr Yanner led protests and sit-ins that held up the establishment of the Century zinc mine, 250km north of Mt Isa, until they had reached a compensation agreement

He was a vocal critic of police after the watch-house killing of his cousin, Mulrunji Doomadgee, who died in custody on Palm Island in 2004.

In 2020, Mr Yanner hit the headlines again when he clashed with One Nation leader Pauline Hanson at the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, in a video that went viral.

“You’re just a racist redneck with your red hair. Go back to Ipswich and your fish and chip shop,” Mr Yanner said in the video. “You are intellectually dishonest and you’re not welcome here.”

Top Footballer Blackmailed Over Witchcraft in France, Where 40 Per Cent of Youth Now Believe in Magic (3 Sep)

Football star Paul Pogba has allegedly been blackmailed by a group who accuse him of attempts to cast spells — potentially a serious accusation in France, as surveys claim as many as 40 per cent of under-35s there now believe in witchcraft. … While Paul Pogba has admitted to hiring a witch doctor in the past, claiming he did so to prevent injuries, he has denied casting spells on fellow players.

A survey conducted by the firm Ifop for the Jean Jaurès Foundation in 2020 revealed among French residents under the age of 35, around 40 per cent seriously believe in witchcraft, compared to 25 per cent of people over 35.

Another survey conducted earlier this year by the firm Ifop found that belief in witchcraft had increased in the general population from 28 per cent to 32 per cent, with 38 per cent of women believing in witchcraft compared to 27 per cent of men.

Hitler was preparing for war so he implemented a war economy with central planning guiding key parts of a capitalist system… just like Churchill did, and to a lesser extent Roosevelt and Curtin.

Hey Monty,

If Hitler instituted ‘a war economy with central planning guiding key parts of a capitalist system’ from the moment he was installed in 1933 right through to when he met his long overdue demise in 1945, what evidence do you have that he was ever a capitalist/conservative/right winger.

Your argument seems to hinge on something that never…ever…existed. You know, like the dubious and delusional argument that he WOULD have installed a non-centralised economy as soon as he’d won the war. It never existed in such a form during his time, so such a claim is spurious.

As for you mole: as with Trump, you have to look at what Hitler did, not what he said. His rhetoric paying lip service to socialism was full of lies, income taxes were much lower than that in Britain at the time, and captains of German industry sailed through the Nazi era untrammeled with their capitalist empires intact.
For your talking points to be correct, you would have to label Churchill as a socialist as well.

struth, the Nazis purged the Communists and unionists first, funded by millions of marks donated by German captains of industry. Strasserism was beaten out of the Nazi Party well before the war, and the anti-capitalist parts of their platform were deleted.
Here, educate yourself. Or stay ignorant, if you like.

Going to post Taibbi’s column on the Red Sermon in full.
As usual, anything that is overtly critical of Biden is paywalled.
His closing comments are spot on.

Seventy-four million people voted for Trump in 2020. It’s beyond delusional to think they are all violent extremists. A smart politician would recognize the overwhelming majority are just people who pay taxes, work crap jobs, raise kids, obey the law, and give at most a tiny share of attention to politics. The University of Virginia did a study arguing that as many as 8 million previously voted for Obama, so there’s that. I’d bet more than half would pick a screening of Thor: Love and Thunder over a Trump speech. The only sure way to radicalize the lot is to call them one big terror cell, or have the president go on TV to describe them as an existential threat to national security.

Having done that, Biden now has a bigger problem than ever. What a mess, but how perfectly in character for our leaders! Metaphorically we’re always blowing up villages and pyramids to chase a terror suspect into the desert. Now we’re factory-producing enemies at home, too, and it doesn’t look like anyone up there knows how to stop.

Biden Brings the War on Terror Home
President Biden in his primetime speech Thursday sure sounded like a man preparing to criminalize Trumpism. Is the White House expanding the great policy error of our time?

He looked shaky as he hobbled onstage Thursday night, but at the podium the drugs kicked in and Joe Biden delivered a commanding speech, by his standards. He handled an early bout of hoarseness like a pro, matched affect to content most of the way, and fumbled few words and none seriously.

But something was off from the start. Biden’s handlers had the otherwise inspiring setting of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall bathed in so much blood-red light, he looked like an opening act for Queensrÿche or Rammstein. Trying to create a setting for judgment and warning, they overshot the staging and made the white-haired ex-Senator look like a vampire sat up from a crypt.

The content matched the ominous staging. Biden delivered a remarkably menacing manifesto.

The only political speech I can remember that rivaled Biden’s address for darkness is Donald Trump’s own much-pilloried tirade against “lawlessness” at the 2016 Republican convention (I was there and called it “relentlessly negative… pure horror movie… with constant references to murder and destruction”). In fact, replace “illegal immigrants… roaming free to threaten peaceful citizens” with “MAGA Republicans… [threatening] the very foundations of our Republic,” and that speech of Trump’s reads eerily like the one Biden just gave, which Fox host Bret Baier agreed was “essentially a convention speech.” Both described a lost paradise that may be regained, if only we rid ourselves of a verminous infestation of lawbreakers.

On one level, it was standard ring-around-the-collar tactics. From Barry Goldwater in 1964 exhorting supporters against “marauders,” to Nixon four years later rallying “forgotten Americans” against the “merchants of crime and corruption,” to retired Barack Obama in 2020 warning of a nameless “them” who would “take away your power” and “your democracy,” this type of scare speech is a familiar political trope.

But Biden was going for something bigger, and the speech his primetime gambit most resembled was the great demented clarion call of our age, George W. Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address. That landmark effort, written by current Democratic Party consigliere and furious Twitter dimwit David Frum, outlined with literary élan the Bush administration’s grand plan for fucking up the response to 9/11. It would be the Sorcerer’s Apprentice approach to terror prevention: in every place we found a terrorist, we created two more, and still more to chase each of those, and so on, until the Middle East filled up with our soldiers, frantically bailing a flood of our own creation.

This happened because instead of focusing on al-Qaeda as a small, isolated cult best dealt with as an international policing problem, Bush announced an existential fight against all evil everywhere, in a snap boosting the enemy’s numbers from hundreds to millions. We weren’t just fighting bin Laden’s cave force, but the “thousands of dangerous killers” he said were “spread throughout the world like ticking time bombs,” members not just of al-Qaeda but “Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and Jaish-i-Mohammed.” To pursue them “wherever they are,” we’d also fight “nations” who “harbor terrorists,” as well as those who might harbor terrorists; Bush sought to eliminate the very concept of threat. He’d prevent “regimes that sponsor terror from threatening America,” beginning with Iran, North Korea, and Iraq, the “axis of evil.”

A key theme was preventive action. Bush wouldn’t wait for disaster, but would step in, Minority Report-style, to stop it before it began. He read off this pledge like a religious incantation, using a Dr. Seuss-like rhythm: “I will not wait on events while dangers gather. I will not stand by as peril draws closer.” (He did not like Green Eggs and Ham. He did not like them, Sam I Am!). He repeated over and over that Our Enemies were steeped in evil, people who “embrace tyranny and death as a cause and a creed,” while we stand for “freedom and the dignity of every life.” He demanded unity, noting that in this binary world, none may be neutral:

No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture, but America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity…

Biden’s speech was an exact domestic analog. Like Bush’s sweeping description of enemies wedded Satanically to tyranny and death, Biden’s MAGA Republicans “embrace anger,” “thrive on chaos,” and live “not in the light of truth but in the shadow of lies.” He repeated almost verbatim Bush’s theory of preventive action, saying it is too dangerous to allow “MAGA Republicans” to run for office. He said “they” are working “as I speak” in “state after state” to pack vote-counting bureaucracies with “partisans and cronies,” with the express purpose of “thwarting the will of the people.” He will not watch MAGAs win a house, he will not watch them with a mouse:

I will not stand by and watch — I will not — the will of the American people be overturned by wild conspiracy theories and baseless evidence-free claims of fraud. I will not stand by and watch elections in this country stolen by people who simply refuse to accept that they lost. I will not stand by and watch the most fundamental freedom in this country, the freedom to vote… be taken from you.

This is a word-for-word lift from Bush, who said “I will not stand by as peril draws closer and closer,” and backed up his talk with pre-emptive military action. Will Biden also act? Assume for argument that he’s right, that Trump allies are running for office with the purpose of stealing elections. Still, what does “I will not stand by and watch it” mean? Biden hinted that courses of action are available, but was unnervingly vague about what those are. “We are not powerless in the face of these threats,” he said. “We are not bystanders… it’s within our power… to stop the assault on… democracy.”

If he’s talking about voting, that’s one thing, but Biden’s extravagant use of the language of threat — he invoked the word nine times, besting even the seven mentions in the Bush/Frum speech — suggested other possibilities.

Modern Republicans bear a lot of responsibility for the fact, and I’d hope at least a few of the party’s officials are smarting from the irony now, but in the War on Terror age, the words presidents choose to describe antagonists unfortunately mean a lot. 21st century presidents can spy, kill, and imprison just by invoking that magic word, “threat,” and this is obvious and important subtext to Biden’s remarks.

Just over 20 years ago, when George W. Bush re-christened American citizen Jose Padilla an “enemy combatant” who posed a “serious and continuing threat” to America, the semantic change gave him power to detain the man three years without charge. Bush lawyers later claimed authority to use “enhanced interrogation” on “members of the enemy.” One could be put on a Watch List, with consequences ranging from restricted travel to cessation of government benefits to being denied a bank account, if judged to have “known or potential links to terrorism.” The Obama administration followed by sanctifying “targeted killing” even for an American deemed a “continued and imminent threat to U.S. persons or interests.”

This is why it matters when Biden describes “MAGA Republicans” as a “threat… to the very soul of this country,” or as “extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic,” representing “dangers around us we cannot allow to prevail.” It’s hard to see how these terms are substantively different from War on Terror constructions like the “continued and imminent threat to U.S. interests” or a “serious and continuing threat to the American people.” Biden sounded like a man preparing followers for an enforcement response to Trumpism itself, and even if that wasn’t what he was doing, it’s clear many Trump supporters heard things that way.

Biden went out of his way to quote federal judge Michael Luttig in calling the MAGA enemy a “clear and present danger.” The loaded term traces to a 1919 Supreme Court case in which Oliver Wendell Holmes created a test for judging if speech and/or other political activities may be suppressed. “The question,” Holmes wrote, “is whether the words… create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent.” This “balancing test” was invoked to justify restrictions ranging from a ban on passing out antiwar leaflets to bars of membership in communist organizations. The “substantive evil” in such cases often involved a judgment that groups or individuals posed an active threat to overthrow the state — not so different from arguing that a political movement threatens “democracy itself.”

In the context of what increasingly feels like a fifties-style PR campaign to describe “MAGA Republicans” as dangerous subversives, “clear and present danger” sounded particularly ominous.

Biden made headlines last week when he denounced “extreme MAGA philosophy” as “like semi-fascism.” Later, DNC adviser Kurt Bardella went on MSNBC and said, “The MAGA Republicans are a domestic terrorist cell operating in America.” Bardella retweeted his comments in case anyone missed his point:

Atlantic contributor Peter Wehner went on Morning Joe and previewed a line that would appear in Biden’s speech, saying Republicans are a “dagger pointed at the throat of American democracy,” while New York Times writer Charles Blow said “the Republican Party itself is now a threat to our democracy.” The concept of MAGA Republicans as not merely disreputable, deplorable racists but an imminent terror threat is suddenly mainstream:

Seventy-four million people voted for Trump in 2020. It’s beyond delusional to think they are all violent extremists. A smart politician would recognize the overwhelming majority are just people who pay taxes, work crap jobs, raise kids, obey the law, and give at most a tiny share of attention to politics. Australian university student magazine calls for ‘death to Israel’ (3 Sep)

The Aug. 4 article in On Dit, written by one of its editors, Habibah Jaghoori, was prompted by the three-day conflict last month between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza. The conflict killed close to 50 Gazan civilians.

“The solution to achieving peace and bringing forth justice for Palestine is to demand the abolition of Israel,” Jaghoori wrote. “Free Palestine and Death to Israel.”

She should be deported immediately. As for the University of South Australia’s “support of academic freedom and freedom of speech” maybe they could comment about Peter Ridd’s rights in this regard.

Business opportunity for the entrepreneurially-minded. The PR/advisory roles in this country (but not just this country) have been gaily sailing down the ‘special interest’ path for some years now, and there might be a buck in it for people that can read the room. The Hun:

It’s a real life case of Morning Wars as shows across all networks wonder where hundreds of thousands of breakfast TV viewers have gone.

I know where they’ve gone. Away.

In November of 2019, Sunrise, Today and ABC News Breakfast pulled a collective audience of 672,000. Just three years later, that’s down to 498,000 – a loss of 174,000 viewers. In fact, in December of 2020, Sunrise had an average 448,000 viewers nationally – a figure which is now just short of total viewers for all networks combined.

Geez. How could this have happened? A bloke called David Knox from TV Tonight (a TV blog, of all things) reckons he’s on the money:

“Over the past year there was a fair bit of commentary around how presenters approached lockdowns, border bans and state premiers and it may have prompted some to switch allegiances or seek out new alternatives,” he told Confidential.

‘How presenters approached lockdowns’ was a cavalcade of untalented, unqualified dunderheads with zero life or business experience regurgitating propaganda fed to them by the abovementioned PR ‘advisers’ on the basis that someone in a focus group said it was good.

As always, what the hairy lesbians and effeminate Catweazle-beard-wearing types in these cloistered environments* believe is contrary to functioning economies, education systems and societies.

Behind the scenes at Sunrise, they are working on strategies to win back viewers.

Almost a dozen senior reporters, producers and employees in on-air, sponsorship and digital positions have parted ways with the network for other jobs in the last six months, prompting new Sunrise EP Sean Power to take to Twitter recently to advertise two producing roles currently available.

If you want people to watch you on the picture wireless, provide them with a reason to do so rather than filling their screens with horseshit. Give the system a chance to work, and it works.

From Spiked On-Line.

Here we had agents of the American security state essentially leaning on Big Tech firms to censor certain content. As a consequence, a story that could well have influenced the 2020 election result was expunged from much of the digital public square, while Democratic politicians and former intelligence chiefs egged Big Tech on. If that’s not an authoritarian threat to democracy, I don’t know what is. In Twitter’s case, users were banned from sharing the link at all and the Post, America’s oldest daily newspaper, was locked out of its account. All of this utterly explodes the old deflection about Big Tech censorship – that it is just private companies doing as they please – and shows us how destructive this fusion of the security state, sections of the political class and big business is in American life today. Dissent can be crushed with incredible speed and efficiency, while the feds and the politicians can keep their hands clean.

To borrow something that m0nty-fa posted some time ago, “Fascism, straight up”.
