Instead I see a tiny, perverse/damaged cultural fragment, supported for political and wokely ‘progressive’ reasons by a larger cultural fragment that considers itself to be a vanguard.
This is yet another government-created fault line in modern Australian society.
Thinking on this, and the culture of my youth, it seems that in those days, minority “cultures”, such as cross-dressing, polyamory, spouse swapping, to pick three of potentially many examples, understood that they were each a small group in society, and by choice kept a low profile.
Now, encouraged by government, academia, and the MSM, they no longer wish to live a “private” lifestyle choice, nor simply that their choice be recognised as valid. Instead they demand that their choice should not just be accepted, but celebrated, and that they be supported in proselytising it to everyone in society, including children. Any opposition is denounced as hateful, and the opponent is demonised.
Regardless, their lifestyle choices still remain the preference of, generally, small minorities. A change in the attitude of government, academia or the MSM will allow a reaction that will make them wish for a return to their previous low profile. But it will be too late for that.
Helen – I’ve been using Dell laptops for 20 plus years. Three in that time, the latest is a couple years old. They’re good, tough and not too expensive. My current one is this one, but mine has a graphics card . It was a special sale Dell did, I luckily got it for about $800. Price, as you can see, has gone up since, but still not bad.
I haven’t bought Dell desktops as they never seem to fit what I want, but the laptops are very good.
Notice how Ed gets all sooky about being shown up as the flog he/she/them/xe is? Cassie upset him about dangly bits in relation to Britney Spears wearing no underwear. Had another crack at Sancho Panzer, Knuckle Dragger and now me about cricket.

All supposition and maybes, never anything concrete.

One or two people here are obviously a bit thick, so to assist these dopes, could reasonable third party observers please place themselves in the following position:
You are the manager of a ministerial office in PH. Two shitfaced young ministerial staffers who work for you enter PH and access your ministerial office in the wee hours of a Saturday morning after a boozy Friday night out. You discover this a few hours later when you wake up and are alerted by PH security.
Firstly, would you presume they were there to:
a) play an innocent game of Scrabble
b) play an innocent game of strip poker (which Higgins evidently lost. Although, to be fair, she would have had to have been an absolute shark to win, given her choice of attire)
c) attend to some urgent matter on behalf of the minister
OR
d) attend to some less innocent but equally urgent matter of a…um…personal nature
If you chose option a), b) or c), you are one of the “one or two people” mentioned above. Thank you for your service, you’re excused. If you chose option d), you possess a reality-based perspective – congratulations. Please continue.
Secondly, would you take quick action to ensure the office was free from items commonly used in the course of, or residues/fluids that are commonly generated as a result of, attending to this matter of a personal nature?
Thirdly, if you answered ‘yes’ to the question above (if you answered ‘no’, then you’re so irresponsible that you couldn’t be trusted with scissors), were you motivated to take this action primarily because:
a) you realised it was important to destroy evidence of a potentially criminal act that occurred in the office
OR
b) you realised it was important to ensure that staff who could return to that office at any time on Saturday morning did not discover used frangers and bodily fluids who-knows-where when they arrived at work (additionally, who the hell do these two fuckheads think they are? Bob Hawke? Hotel rooms aren’t *that* pricey in Canberra. You’ll be speaking with them both first thing Monday morning, as they’re about to enjoy a lot more free time)
I reckon if you’ve come this far, you’re probably going to go with b). If you chose a), you’re a little weird and you probably have a personality disorder. Please keep your distance from others.
All jokes aside – if the accused had a hand in arranging the office’s steam cleaning, that’d be pretty damning evidence. If he didn’t, then it isn’t damaging to his case in the slightest, as it seems like a reasonable step to take in the circumstances. In fact, it provides a plausible motive for her to lie about what happened that early morning. Everyone would have known what happened. And he got shitcanned while she didn’t. Was she copping some side-eye at work later that week? Was she the subject of some spicy office gossip? Was she worried her indiscretion had impacted her future prospects?
Hang on, this isn’t fair! Why do people suddenly think she’s some kind of floozy who gets drunk at work events and screws her colleagues? She’s a professional who’s entitled to be taken seriously! Think, think…how to rescue the situation? Is there any way this could all become …somehow…not her fault?
Apparently Frank Elly has a new talk show on ABC TV called “Frankly”.
This fact has reportedly drawn some criticism from TV critics (no shortage of work for them!) along the lines of “predictable”, “safe” & “boring”. Couldn’t someone younger have been chosen? Perhaps someone of “colour?”
Patricia Karvelas has ridden in on her white horse to defend “her friend”, claiming her new gig is a victory for “diversity is our strength” because Frank is – like her – a white, middle class lesbian with leftist views, and there aren’t enough of such women on TV.
I expect Kerryn Plelps has already been booked in for an appearance on “Frankly.”
Miriam Margolyes…
Maybe even Patricia herself…
Yes, obviously. Which is why I sing their praises here unceasingly.

Dan Murphy’s tried the same shite in the early days of covid – but not due to supply, they did it for my health – the checkout person tried to explain that they had a duty of care to stop me overdoing it in those stressful times. I told said person that, as a 50 year old, I was quite capable of doing that without their patronising help.
In an ironic symmetry, that was also the last time I patronised Dan Murphy’s.
After Michelle Guthrie the ALPBC had its quota of coloureds. Time for white lesbians to shine.
A grate pity there weren’t some of Pinochet’s henchmen in the same conveyance.
Maybe; but I suspect you are conflating general acceptance with celebration.
I certainly do include the institutions in my ‘woke fragment’ applying top-down cultural pressure.
However, in the case of medical procedures performed on minors for uncertain or contested reasons, it’s a regulated process and directly in the hands of government to regulate. And it’s being waved through by government to satisfice the ‘woke’ culture that surrounds it and fills the MSM – and not as a nod to pressure from ‘mainstream’ culture (I hope).
BB at 5.37:
Cracking clip. Literally.
This turned up here a while back, albeit without the accurate description of Ed October’s general co-ordination and ability.
The retarded bowler’s end umpire, clearly unsure of what to do once the bowler’s been clocked by his own pill, calls ‘dead ball’. This is strongly encouraged by the spectators, who later concede ‘I dunno’.
The square leg umpire walks over to his colleague, tells him he’s a dickhead and reminds him of the provisions of Law 20 – i.e., the ball is dead when it lodges in the clothing of a player or umpire, not bouncing off it – which is followed by general confusion, and the bowler’s end umpire indicating a change of decision before fucking off out of screen. And presumably into his car and on his way to somewhere else.
The Beloved was lured into getting an HP because “special price”. It’s garbage in the battery department.
My personal work laptop is a Dell, now 10 years old, had a hard drive failure when about 2months old which was a massive pain.
Company work laptop is a HP, phenomenally shit battery life.

I think the most likely scenario is they did have a drunken albeit consensual shag in the Minister’s office. He’s now saying they didn’t because there’s no solid evidence they did, apart from her subsequent allegations. However, her dress didn’t take itself off. If I’m right, perhaps his defence is calculating that the jury is less likely to buy a claim of consensual sex than of no sex at all.

Indeed. So-called “progressives “and “liberals” have not learned even what actually happened in the distant past, but what has happened to indigenous society since Whitlam/Coombes implemented the first stages of apartheid in Australia. If they had, most current policies would be abandoned.
When the past is again repeated, we expect an apology from air-headed idiots like you.

Live in outer east Melbourne (Victorisdan). Young neighbours bought in property next door on front (period) house on subdivided block at $670,000, 7 years ago. Cleaned the house up and had two kids. Both back at work now. Moved three years ago to house two blocks away with four bedrooms on full block at $1,250.00 but kept the property next door and rented it out. Now going full belt to get house next door on market by this weekend as can’t manage mortgages on two properties. There will be a lot of this happening over coming months in Victorisdan and elsewhere I suspect.
Rabz, I’ve called ’em a couple of times, & been promised a “call back” after they “look into the matter”

And Britnee’s is not?
Huh?
Why on earth would they do that?
Yep. A lot of people will be redoing the sums on negative gearing with rising interest rates and falling or slow capital growth. It required a lot of things to be moving in your favour, even at the best of times. Won’t be that many people on the top marginal rate if these Stage 3 tax cuts go through and those that are won’t be piss farting around with negative gearing in the suburbs.
Possibly, but we are quibbling here. If we are at the general acceptance stage of chemically castrating, performing double mastecomies, and the like, of minors, we are already confronting a rather evil social circumstance even if only a minority celebrate it, and that portion includes the institutional elite.

The reason Flemington was set aside as a racecourse was because it was on a flood plain, and useless for building.
The whole idea was for it to flood and take the pressure of inhabitated areas.
Why would they build it?
It’s not protecting buildings as all the stands are elevated.
And if water flows through the bottom three feet of a grandstand, who fucking cares?
Like all these things, look for development applications on racecourse land which needed flood protection.
I reckon the next time we get rains like this we might see a midnight raid on the wall.
No worries, maaate!
We are slightly at cross purposes here: our only real difference seems to be that I don’t believe that there is mainstream acceptance of medical procedures that attempt to alter gender.
As I mentioned above, I believe that government is a major facilitator in this evil, pandering to the elites for its own ends, rather than somehow enacting community wishes.

Re The Graduate– over rated imo. Rather corny and melodramatic. Seen better. A much better movie from that era would be Klute. As much as I dislike Jane Fonda, it is a brilliant movie. Roy Scheider as the sleazy Frankie is fantastic. A sexy, engrossing and disturbing work of art.
The Flemington race course flooding would make fuck all difference to the river height.
Nearly the whole length of the river in Melbourne is built up and hemmed in by development, not to mention the tidal influence only a couple of kilometres down from Flemington.

Ohhh yeah. I was nearly at school leaver age. Good times goood times…
You’re twisting my melon, man …
See you, and raise you Sharleen. It’s fun that Texas is from Scotland.
Texas – I Don’t Want A Lover (1989)
Yeah, blah. Nowhere near as hot as Miss Ellie.
The medium of payment should to be agreed upon before the sale is agreed to, not after.
Otherwise the business has no right to refuse legal tender.
Anyway, Sayonara Cats, off to relax.
For a certain young womanage, one of the most beautiful songs in human history …
He is furious – with good reason.
It’s Hard To Believe What Is Happening | Jordan Peterson 2022
Sorry Rabz but Miss Ellie looks like a German receptionist compared to Wendy James.
If you hang around the sideshows long enough you get a taste for Wendy type girls.
From what I’ve read it’s hard for me to believe that this trial will go ahead.
I was on the jury of a rape trial in the late 90s and on the morning of the 3rd day of the hearing we were sent to the ‘lunch room’ and I said to all “we will be out of here by mid-day.” All of the members of the jury laughed at me and told me I did not understand the procedure. When we came back into the court we were told we were no longer needed. We were out of there at 1pm that day.
Roger, no issue with payment. In MEL they were upfront and I chose to leave. Today they had it clearly stated at the ATM just the first transaction I was unawares till the beer had been cracked and I presented card.
My 2c worth till the Feds allowed CC surcharges this practise was dead, I believe even they have admitted they shot themselves in the foot allowing it…
I do have relatives who are in small business so I am sympathetic to the argument against cash & the EFTPOS rip off. I was in a discussion with one of them when at Lake Mac over AFL GF weekend on the subject.
A Netherlands batsman with the name of O’Dowd was just bowled.
Fascinating.
+1
Sure, it’s just that the move to cashless is a concern and, if not upfront, illegal.
Hi Cats. No doubt no one noticed my absence, but whatever, here I am back (and only a little bit pissed). I have been on twitter. It has been an interesting exercise and I’m still learning the finer points.
My schtick has been mild sarcasm and the two main subjects I have concentrated on have been the ‘rona and ‘climate change’. I have avoided abuse. Well, I thought I had however, I was given a 12 hr ban for telling someone not to set their hair on fire. No shit. It is a weird place. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed beclowning climate and Covid loons. Cat trolls are not the same, as they aren’t really trying to convince.
I have had dialog with various politicians, professors and such. I look on it as a fishing exercise. The aim is to get a bight. The highlight was probably when Christine Milne retweeted one of my comments. LOL, the stupid bint didn’t recognise the sarcasm. I thought maybe I was too subtle, but no, she really is that dumb.
I am grateful to the Cat for teaching me how to debate on the internet. I am driving some of those climate and Covid loons spare. Anyhoo, see ya. Back soon.
So ye’ve ne’er heard o’ the O’Dowd’s of Utrecht then?
Correct.
That would be the Cosby defence, circa 2004.
Worked for a while.
Then it didn’t.
The “Great Awakening” is upon us. Let’s see how green energy policies and war mixed with unlimited migration turns out. i
It’s not as if the Europeans weren’t warned about it. What a clusterfuck this is about to become. Absolute misery.
Martha Davis is less obvious but there was just something about her.
Martha could torch, though. The Motels “Only the Lonely” was one of several finest for her.
Gez – My estimation of you has gone up! Or down. Not sure which. So here PJ.
PJ Harvey – Big Exit (2004 live)
“No doubt no one noticed my absence”
I’ve noticed your absence Jupes, and it’s nice to see ya. Don’t stay away too long.
And hopefully we’ll all catch up in Sydney soon.
American Express fees (a credit card company) used to be about $25 per room night.
American Express also used to keep my money for one week.
The CC charge was the trigger for this to change.

A passing thought on the shortened Higgins trial.
I wonder did the prosecution suddenly realise that with the original six week trial period, the jury might be considering its verdict at the same time as the news was broadcasting lots of images of Higgins look-alikes, rolling drunk and scantily clad, at various Melbourne race courses? Not quite the image the prosecution wants on the jurys’ minds as they were considering her behaviour the evening before the “events” at PH?
I wish I shared your confidence – I’m betting that the whole circus goes to the High Court.
We noticed, Jupes.

Christine Milne retweeted one of my comments. LOL, the stupid bint didn’t recognise the sarcasm. I thought maybe I was too subtle, but no, she really is that dumb.
Another failed teacher, like Kernot?
Christine Milne, one time head of the Greens, who assured West Australian farmers that she had a through knowledge of matters agricultural – she’d grown up on a dairy farm in Tasmania?
A woman with whom I was associated during my very short, disasterous foray into the political viper pit, assured me this afternoon that ‘L’ despite displaying many of the characteristics of political staffer amorality would never, ever, ever, even contemplate rope.
I don’t like her, but I trust her assessment of her fellow sewer dwellers. She is an accurate caricature of everyone’s worst beliefs about pollie operatives, but she knows all.
She had a lot to say about the corrupt ACT town council adopting, and funding this idiocy as a major ideological battle.
On that basis, I’ll donate to his appeal.
There’s only two words you needs to remember:
Sun Tzu!
The defence for Lehrmann looks pretty sound.
Left her in one office as he went to another to work. His motives in taking her there or speculation by security as to his demeanour are not proof of rope.
The prosecution has produced no credible evidence any sexual contact took place. Britnah’s dress and photo exhibits are little better than Tassie Tiger sightings.
It runs through a fairly narrow gorge under the Ted Whitten bridge I think.
Roger Moore.
PHRASING.
“Now people pay a premium for a dinged up instrument.”
Guitar makers have just cottoned on to what antique dealers have been doing for years.
Anybody know how to link to the Daily Mail article, featuring such images?
I’ve got one word to say to you.
Phwooaarrrr!
I think most Cats would prefer to be sitting on a beach in Australia drinking piss than rummaging around the entrails of Europe. These people are nuts. Pretty much all corrupt. The EU.
Ditto the Americans. Joe is our President? Yeah, righto mate. That fucker can’t even find his way off a stage. Plus everything else.
It’s getting really embarrassing that these nimrods are in control.
Sorry.
But we’re gonna have to take this to the Duelling Thread.

Ah.
Mr Panzer. Whatever you do, do NOT run a search on what Ms James looks like today.
I’ve just done it. It’s a shitshow. I would spare others the pain.
Is the sound of vomit hitting the tiles after that search, in the manner of a garbage bag full of soup landing from a great height.
That’s how bad it is.
Particularly the photo exhibit of a bruise allegedly caused by her alleged assault (allegedly) but didn’t show up on her phone for the thick end of two years.
And, quite apart from the phone photo anachronism, someone needs to acquaint Britnah with the science of DFOCR* injuries. About two days after a huge night on the piss, bruises will start to appear in very unusual places.
Between your toes.

In your armpit.

Probably should have made that declaration in Iron Chef style. 😀
N1: Iron chef Wendy seems confident this evening.
N2: Yes but it’s all going to depend on the theme ingredient.
N1: You think challenger Ellie has a chance against an established opponent?
N2: With an inventive use of the ingredient, in Kitchen Stadium anything can happen.
N1: Wait, I think… yes, here is Chairman Kaga now!

I did a review of Ms James photographic history.
Two observations
.1 Of course, it’s near 35 years on and none of us compare favourably to our 1988 selves; and
.2 Wendy liked gettin’ ’em out back in the day.
I’m still disgusted that Bill Shorten was never called to account for those comments to the House.

Doug Casey on the Likelihood of Nuclear War With Russia
As for Zelensky accelerating the bid to join NATO, it’s insanely stupid. Zelensky is a corrupt nothing/nobody puppet who’s being manufactured into a hero. The strutting little megalomaniac has apparently been paid at least half a billion dollars to be an authoritarian, jailing opposition leaders, closing down dissident newspapers, and building a secret police force. Ukraine joining NATO at this point would be asking for World War 3. Of course, NATO should have been abolished after the collapse of the Soviet Empire in 1991. But now it’s become an institution, almost impossible to get rid of.
The chances of a war between NATO and Russia are extremely high. Instead of talking about getting rid of Putin, the world would be better off if they got rid of Zelensky.
Doug Casey: I’ve listened to a number of Putin’s speeches.
It’s fashionable to make him out as being not only the devil incarnate but irrational and somebody that wants to conquer Europe and perhaps destroy the world in the process. But in fact, compared to all of the other European leaders, he’s the most cool-headed, the most thoughtful, and the one with the most perspective.
Let me explain. I like American culture. Despite the fact the US is rapidly devolving into a police state, it’s still by far the most individualistic, liberty-oriented, and freewheeling culture the world has ever seen. But at the same time, I understand his resentment.
I don’t support either Washington or Moscow. At the moment—let me shock some readers—Washington is much more dangerous than Moscow, with the current administration totally controlled by Jacobins and other strident ideologues. Americans should be terrified that one of their politicians could push the wrong button and destroy the world, whether with nuclear, cyber, or biological weapons.

New Zealand’s pandemic science is cracking up
Government behaviour during Covid presented a chilling precedent for future pandemic event responses
For the best part of a year, Kiwis were urged to get vaccinated to protect their families. However, this week’s concession that Pfizer never tested the vaccine to confirm whether the vaccine prevented transmission, has rocked the European Parliament.
Pfizer executive Janine Small admitted that the company didn’t have data on whether the mRNA gene technology prevented transmission of infection. In a tweet, a Member of the European Parliament said ‘this is scandalous’.
And no, the clinical trial data never included prevention of transmission of infection as an endpoint.
This is one more step for public understanding regarding how information and science has been ‘managed’ during 2020-22 in order to shepherd the public to accept a novel technology; a high-risk biological entity.
It appears that the New Zealand government knew all along. The traffic light system used during the pandemic ‘was never designed to dampen down transmission, it was only designed to nudge people towards vaccination’.
Modelling that claimed traffic light systems would reduce transmission of infection, was based on assumptions rather than hard data.
Most of us looking at the trial endpoints and the science have known this. But the public didn’t.
Scantily clad sheliahs at race days like the Melbourne Cup are a total waste of time. They generally want to have $2.50 each way on something or other. Meanwhile, you have a bloke behind who wants to have a couple of hundred on a horse.
It really pisses me off. Yep, I appreciate that they went to all the effort to buy a dress and have their hair done and slap on some lipstick and high heels. But FFS, get out of the queue. No, I don’t know what’s going to “win”.
I’ve been tempted to get my bagman to “shank” them with their own Chardonnay glasses.
India and Pakistan are playing at the G in January. Tickets sold out in an hour.
There’s another difference; The last time you see her she will not be in a Zoo.
They gain of functioned omicron and achieved an 80% fatality rate in mice. These people are gonna have to be reigned in, methinks.
Whoops, Oct 23, not January.
Who’s jupes?
Only kidding.
They’re gonna have to cut a lot of holes in the floor of the Warney Stand.
And no chance of getting a 7/11 Slurpee or an Uber that day either.

Surely of all the buildings in Australia the Federal Parliament building would have one of the best, if not the best, security camera coverage… especially in all corridors.
Who smashed the Lankans by 55 runs. Lots of sad Lankans.
I would have thought such the case.

Oh. Oh, right. The facial scars.
Never mind.

It was rumoured that eight of the Namibian team were going to seek asylum in Australia.
But, after driving through Corio on the way from the ground, they’ve all decided to return home.
