Artisanal mining
WTF?
Oh, right.
Yes, there are minimums and maximums for TRIS or TRAP or whatever they call them now.
There are also minimums for the annual amount you must take if you are in full retirement.
4% of annual opening balance between ages 60 and 65.
But that has been halved during Covid.
I must admit I have never heard of an explicit work limit, and 10% would be four hours a week.
I did ask at least three public accountants about time gaps and hours of work in the new job and they kind of shrugged. There didn’t seem to be hard and fast rules. One just said, “Tell them you got sick of retirement and went back to work”.
I think Friday-Monday arrangements with the same employer would be a yuuuge risk though.

There’s a book out by a BBC journalist by the name of Sweeney about Putin.
I believe it’s called “Killer in the Kremlin.”
I haven’t read it, but the takeaways I heard were that Putin goes both ways and there are reports of pedo behavior.
There is also a story about when his daughter and fiancé were driving and there was a road rage incident. The other driver beat the shit out of the boyfriend, and shortly after he was picked up by the cops, which culminated with 8 years in prison. He was an oligarch and ended up losing the banks he owned.
OK BBC “journalist”.
Artisanal mining is a widely used term for the informal mining sector, individuals and groups using low tech methods.

Black Ball.
Longer JC, I never passed muster on the issue of credibility, other than to let people know the book is available. Also, did you believe the story about the US blowing up the pipeline without any corroboration, or that Seymour Hersch was a far-leftist despiser of America?
And how in the hell would you know if the book is bullshit after I just posted that it’s out there?
Don’t worry JC.
People here have gone temporarily mad.
There is absolutely no need to go nuts because our leaders are bad.
Putin’s political career was built on murder and a false flag to start the Second Chechen War:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowing_Up_Russia
Blowing Up Russia: Terror from Within (Russian: ??? ???????? ??????, FSB blows Russia up) is a book written by Alexander Litvinenko and Yuri Felshtinsky.[1] The authors describe the Russian apartment bombings as a false flag operation that was guided by the Russian Federal Security Service to justify the Second Chechen War and bring Vladimir Putin to power. The story was initially printed by Yuri Shchekochikhin in a special issue of Novaya Gazeta in August 2001[2] and published as a book in 2002. In Russia the book was prohibited because it divulged state secrets, and it was included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials.[3] However, it was published in more than twenty other countries and translated into twenty languages.[4]
I did. I’m not gullible enough to believe anything from the likes of Hersch with only unnamed sources. We went down the unnamed sources cul de sac with Wussiagate. If Ace wants to believe it then he can go right ahead.
Me? I reckon it was the Russians. I reckon it was the Russians because those idiots didn’t know how the hell to shut down a pipeline without the assistance of Western engineers.
I can’t say for sure it’s bullsh*t but I suspect the BBC is just doing the Pommy gov’s and Washington war machine’s bidding. When is the beeb gonna write a book on the misable career of the old thief?
He’s Saddam in a bespoke Brioni suit and much richer too.
This was once on PBS…
Hmmmmm…….
Milt, it’s possible. However, if there are folks who believe the Hersch story, then why is the book beyond the pale. Perhaps the cause is total cognitive dissonance, which Dot alludes to.
An excellent way to tell when one is suffering cognitive dissonance is to see who supports Hersch while totally discounting Sweeney. Hallward would be exhibit A.
Fair enough JC

Andrew Bolt:
Paul Erickson must have torn his hair out to hear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s latest announcement, as the country plunges to a possible recession.
Albanese on Saturday opened the new Pride Square in Sydney’s inner west, and declared that come Saturday week he’d be at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to be “the first prime minister not to watch … but to march”.
Well, whoopee do.
More evidence that there’s nothing like symbolic gestures and identity politics to excite this prime minister.
What I suspect will upset Erickson, Labor’s national secretary, is that just four days earlier he’d told Albanese and a room full of Labor MPs to come back down to planet Earth.
Could they please talk about what’s worrying people most?
In case they hadn’t worked it out, Erickson added: “The cost of living.”
“You must look like you are responding to this first and foremost,” Erickson said.
“This is where people are at … This is where people expect you to be.”
It’s amazing Albanese and his crew needed telling. Who hasn’t freaked at what soaring inflation and interest rates, plus the explosion in gas and electricity bills, are doing to battlers?
Yet Albanese seems obsessed by identity politics and the global warming scare — and by making useless gestures for both.
Most obviously, he’s lecturing us almost every day on the Voice — a kind of Aboriginal-only advisory parliament in our constitution that will just divide us by race.
But there’s much more flag-waving.
For instance, he’s created a new Ambassador for First Nations People, ordered the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags be flown at press conferences, let public servants snub Australia Day, urged policies to stop us driving petrol cars, announced the creation of a new Poet Laureate position, got rid of the Queen’s face from the $5 note, and appointed an Assistant Minister for the Republic.
He’s also just had his Treasurer pen a 6000-word essay on inventing a “better capitalism”, and his Foreign Minister lecture Britain on confronting its colonial past.
Oh, and meanwhile he’s spent three straight evenings watching tennis at the Australian Open.
No wonder Erickson had to step in.
Much more of this and voters will draw a contrast between their priorities and the Prime Minister’s.
Maybe they’ll even ask: is the reason Albanese would rather wave from a gay pride rally is that doing something useful for us all is just too hard?

My point was that the world is full of people who trusted, who no longer trust. How this pans out in future crises, manufactured or not, will be instructive. Clapton is just a more vocal, high profile one.
Yesterday my parents asked me if I thought they should have the fifth dose, as they are being urged to have it. They have always been on the far end of the “trusting” register, but no longer. I advised them not to, and they agreed that it’s a waste of time and possibly dangerous. How far they have come in their thinking.

“Vaxx ghouls” disgusting terminology. People have been forcibly injected with experimental shit and you call them this as they try to find out what’s really going on?

How do people suppose that HAARP has more influence over earthquakes than the sun or moon? A slight wobble of the objects or radiation pulses could have significant effects on geodynamics.
The effects HAARP could have on the weather is very small. It does not have the scale to do so. To cause earthquakes would require a colossal energy input. The sun’s influence and lunar gravity changes in even small ways would dwarf even a supersized HAARP.
It’s unfortunate that my terminology has disgusted you, rickw.
Pouncing on every death like a vulture in order to prove a point is pretty sickening to me, but everyone has their own disgust threshold.
It amuses me that people who rant rabidly here get more brownie points than those who try to work things through rationally and sensibly. That’s what I call “trying to find out”.
I don’t know that I’ve ever seen one of these.
Edible mushrooms boost nerve growth and enhance memory
I’ll preface this with “not a Catholic, but”…
I don’t think there are any religious orders in the anglosphere that have the requisite experienced personnel to run schools anymore. That’s been delegated to lay people. If there are they’ll be on the conservative wing of the church and engaged in a ressourcement program (classical education). And such efforts would be in response to the progress of the long march through the Catholic education bureaucracy.

Nazis ….. rejected the liberal, democratic view of politics, in which autonomous individuals were free to pursue their conscious interests. They saw politics instead as a domain in which people pursued an irrational identification with national or racial groupings defined by enmity to others.

Giving the ghouls the needle was racist, naturally.
Possibly.
Perhaps if the likes of Indolent and the Artist Formerly Known as St Ruth didn’t gleefully conclude “vax death” every time someone aged 52 or under dies, the label might not be appropriate.
But they do and it is.
It went like this:-
– report of death of 32 year old appears.
– cries of ‘vax death’ go up from the usual suspects.
– someone says, “Hey, wait a minute. He was a two bottle a day Vodka man.”
– usual suspects go with, “Well, let’s not rush to judgement. We need an autopsy.”

True, but not the way they think.
Benedict resigned on 11 February 2013, effective c. two weeks later. I watched his speech at the time, and while my Latin is rusty, even I could determine what he was saying.
A month later Bergoglio was elected by conclave after several ballots, suggesting he was not the only, nor even the preferred, successor.
So, no…Benedict did not “abdicate” to Francis, but he most definitely did resign the papacy.

LOL. The Israeli Left have been screeching about the end of democracy and the end of everything good and nice and demonstrating like idiots on meth. Herzog is a lefty. All of this is because the Left stacked the courts then weaponized them to persecute the right, as Caroline Glick has forensically outlined in a number of articles. The Netanyahu proposal for appointing supreme court judges is very fair and transparent. But the Left hates it because they hate anything they can’t control utterly.

The data shows something slightly different:
1) The futures curves for all of the eastern states show no such happy decline (Queensland shows a tiny decline superimposed on the seasonal cycle);
2) The underlying futures trade data shows clearly that the arse has fallen out of the market:
• minimal trade volume beyond Q2 2023 – effectively none in Victoria;
• near bid/ask prices way off market;
