Coedie McAvoy, also known as Gurridyula, has been illegally camped at the Bravus, formerly known as Adani, mine site near Clermont in central Queensland for 18 months where he has proclaimed himself a sovereign citizen

Does he have an annotated copy of the constitution? Are local councils, illegal?

Silly man.

He must know that ChatGPT is “seeing” others. It prefers open relationships, particularly with the truth.

This is likely true.
ChatGPT is pretty shifty when questioned:

As an AI language model, I do not have the ability to play catch up or engage in any physical activity, nor do I have any knowledge of whether Stan Grant is playing catch up.

The bottom line is that political staffers have no rights and the employer can put them thru hell if they like.

Some clown upthread “thinks” that 70 hours work a week is no big deal
and that may be correct for the Self Employed.

Having Granny Gruesome summoning you at all hours of the Night, Weekend and Public Holidays because she can’t find the paperclips, that’s another story.

Not much out that way water and shade included. He’d be one pongy character. Not only that wonder how he is being resupplied? Around 80km to the site from Gregory Developmental rd and that road was still dirt the last time I went past it from the Elgin Downs end which Adani have turned into a veritable gravel highway. Locals out that way when I was working a contract were hoping the mine got up, extra work for the landholders around through earthworks, water carting etc and jobs for their kids. Don’t think they would give him much help and time.

No doubt, probably from the coast which is a good 5 hours to Townsville or even further from the Whitsunday region that is a bit of a green/left hotspot of the central & north parts of the state.

Locals and even Clermont locals certainly wouldn’t be supportive.

I find Bishop unattractive, and I think it is largely because of her terrible sense of style. She dresses in clothing that a 20-year old will struggle to pull off and the effort only makes her appear ridiculous.

It’s not so much her terrible sense of style – anyone can have that.

Hard to underestimate how important to the current regime this is.

“PM joins Pride march across Sydney Harbour Bridge”

You know, a Liberal Party with any nous, and yes I know I’m dreaming, could make significant electoral headway with this latest stunt performed by Sleazy. The reason why Labor is in government isn’t because it won the electorates of Grayndler and Sydney, it’s because it won quite a few marginal electorates, seats such as Reid, Bennelong, Parramatta, Swan, Pearce and others, electorates full of working and middle class Australians, and most of these electorates have high populations of religious people, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Sikhs. Most of the people living in electorates represented by Charlton, Bowen, Husic and Rowland aren’t too enamoured of the Pride nonsense. With such ammunition, a Liberal Party that had its act together would already be picking candidates to run in these seats, and not leave it until a month before a federal election.

I also note that Sleazy hasn’t said anything about the ‘hate speech” on The Project. I can guarantee you he would have opened his big ugly trap if a “comedian” had said similar about Islam and it’s prophet. I also note that Sleazy hasn’t said anything about the Adelaide Festival’s invites to unapologetic Jew haters, yet I can guarantee you he’d have said something if the festival organisers had invited people who say ugly things about Muslims and Palestinians.

But we should not be surprised by any of this. What we are seeing here is the real Albanese. The whole election campaign by Albanese and Labor was one big fat lie. We here knew this but gullible Australians, so anxious to get rid of Scumbag, fell for Labor’s lies. Once elected, they haven’t wasted any time pursuing a hard left agenda.

BTW, I just ran into an old friend who is Labor, Labor, Labor, to the core. Sydney CBD streets are closed off so I muttered something about “Pride” and she said that she’s over it, but interestingly, she then said that “it’s all gone too far”. I said to her, indeed, and I then said that the backlash, when it comes, won’t be pretty.

I should also add that there’s a high level of narcissism and hubris emanating from Sleazy, someone needs to take him aside and warn him. This hubris will be his downfall. With absurdly high Newspolls (none of which I’ve believed), with a fawning MSM, particularly by the taxpayer funded ABC, and just like Ruddy was back in 2008 and 2009, Sleazy is in love with this own reflection, he’s swallowed the adulation, and he now believes he’s untouchable and infallible. Tom:
One of the first things Portillo fell for was the Stolen Generation myth as he chatted with a mixed-race central Australian Arrunte woman, who recited the Stolen Generation playbook lock, stock and barrel – minus the crucial fact that the missionaries separated children from their blackfella parents to protect them from alcoholism, domestic violence and family dysfunction.

Last night, I turned on the Aussie movie – The Sapphires. For those who’ve not seen it, it loosely tells the story of an all female Aboriginal singing group who travel to Vietnam during the war to perform their singing act for the soldiers. (According to wiki, the act ends up as a couple of singers because two of them do not support the war and won’t go).

The movie was made twenty-odd years ago and has Deborah Mailman and Jessica Mauboy in the cast. (According to wiki) relying mostly on fabrication to “fill out” the story, still, it would have been a very different yarn if made today, I would think. Even so, there is the standard sub-text both of casual racism and the more questionable “claims” of light-skinned children being rounded up and removed from their loving parents by the authorities, which is further “filled in” in explanations of why the troupe has some ongoing relationship “difficulties.”

If those defamatory “story fillers” are ignored, however, what the story ends up depicting is that family care and control of young people (by all races) leads to functioning, contributing adults.

At the end of the film, photos of the actual singers are shown, both in their youth at the time the story is set, and later, at the time the movie was shot. In both sets of photos these four women are all shown to be normal looking. When I say “normal looking,” I mean they look like any other Australian female who has received an education, worked, created relationships and families, and has gotten on with life, without indulging in statements and actions of victimhood or been involved in “blak power salutes” of any kind.

(As to the depiction of the “light-skinned” girl who was “taken away.” She is shown returning to visit her family while wearing her full school uniform, including school hat. Later, and before the group is properly formed, we see her living in Melbourne and working at a hospital while selling Tupperware at night.)

A farmer buys several pigs, hoping to breed them for ham, bacon, etc…. after several weeks, he notices that none of the pigs are getting pregnant and calls a vet for help.

The vet tells the farmer that he should try artificial insemination. The farmer doesn’t have the slightest idea what this means but, not wanting to display his ignorance, he only asks the vet how he will know when the pigs are pregnant. The vet tells him that they will stop standing around and will instead, lay down & wallow in the mud when they are pregnant. The farmer hangs up & gives this some thought. He comes to the conclusion that artificial insemination means that he has to impregnate the pigs.

So, he loads the pigs into his truck, drives them out into the woods, has sex with them all, brings them back & goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes & looks out at the pigs. Seeing that they are all still standing around, he concludes that the first try didn’t take, and loads them in the truck again. He drives them out to the woods, bangs each pig twice for good measure, brings them back and goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes to find the pigs still just standing around. One more try, he tells himself, and proceeds to load them up & drives them out to the woods. He spends all day shagging the pigs and, upon returning home, falls listlessly into bed.

The next morning, he cannot even raise himself from the bed to look at the pigs. He asks his wife to look out and tell him if the pigs are laying in the mud.

‘No,’ she says, ‘they’re all in the truck and one of them is honking the horn.

Yup. And she does it from a female perspective. For example, in The Body in the Library, Miss Marple notes things like that the dress the deceased is wearing is not one she would wear if meeting a boyfriend, and her bitten nails instead of ‘talons.’

It was published in 1942.

Of course, every detective book, TV show or movie now uses these techniques, but it was not the case in 1942.

A tourist in Vienna is going through a graveyard and all of a sudden he hears some music. No one is around, so he starts searching for the source.

He finally locates the origin and finds it is coming from a grave with a headstone that reads: Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827. Then he realises that the music is the Ninth Symphony and it is being played backward! Puzzled, he leaves the graveyard and persuades a friend to return with him.

By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music has changed. This time it is the Seventh Symphony, but like the previous piece, it is being played backward.

Curious, the men agree to consult a music scholar. When they return with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing, again backward. The expert notices that the symphonies are being played in the reverse order in which they were composed, the 9th, then the 7th, then the 5th.

By the next day the word has spread and a throng has gathered around the grave. They are all listening to the Second Symphony being played backward.

Just then the graveyard’s caretaker ambles up to the group. Someone in the crowd asks him if he has an explanation for the music.

“Oh, it’s nothing to worry about” says the caretaker. “He’s just decomposing!”

Indolent,
I was flicking through FTA last night and came across a program on sexuality. The screen was filled with a listing of 20+ genders! A recent study surprised the bods because of the number of people they found with XXY or XYY chromosomal arrangements(but still very low numbers), so I don’t accept “there are only 2 genders”. There are other variables that can alter gender identification, including genetic and in utero variables.

Biological variances beyond a certain point are not associated with being in the normal range, have disability or impairment, and we seek to help those individuals cope with their idiosyncratic developmental outcomes. There isn’t a Schizophrenic Pride March and schizophrenics are the first to acknowledge that they are not normal and have a disability. Idiosyncratic gender identification is an extraordinary exception in how we think about people with a different developmental pattern. They have extraordinarily high rates of psychopathology and suicide. I often wonder if the activists and talking heads of that group are very insecure and\or narcissists. I suspect the greater majority of the alphabet people acknowledge that they are not normal, that they have been dealt an unlucky hand, and make the most of the circumstances without making so much public noise. Like so many developmental outcomes we can’t fix these people, we can’t medicate them or turn them into heterosexuals, but it is ludicrous to think that all those genders are normal human behavior.

Using the female desire to wear the new when meeting a beau, which is inconsequential to a male, (and the addition of nail clippings – why cut off one’s beautifully manicured nails?) points to the crime. It’s deliciously simple yet psychologically grounded.

And, P, thanks for that great article about Christie and the Latin Mass.

(As an aside, that reference in the article about her autobiographical first marriage reflections, demonstrates both her eloquence and her crisp writing style – as well as what used to be valued by what was once unambiguously a practically minded and straight forward culture-: “So, after illness, came sorrow, despair and heartbreak. There is no need to dwell on it.”)

The Divine Agatha was a very clever woman.

I think a lot of her own emotional life and disappointment crept into her stories too. Unavoidable really. Mainly in her short stories.

While Poirot did not “approve of murder”, Christie had the same view of suicide. Perhaps because she was tempted herself when in the pits of despair. It comes out in many tales, in many guises.

My favourite in this genre is “The Man from the Sea”.

PM joins Pride march across Sydney Harbour Bridge

Of course. The harbour bridge is an icon which will attract international attention.

Which hangs on to its icons. This happened to the name of Botany Bay, the name by which Australia was known for at least a Century. We stayed at a renovated old hotel on Britain’s south coast called just that – The Botany Bay Hotel, named because it’s where local smugglers were found and then sent.
Probably the last remaining nomenclature of that past time.

I’ve just finished the chapter in ‘Lying for the Admiralty’ where Cook’s putative bush walks along old native and animal tracks from Botany Bay are discussed. I’m feeling personally involved as I look out over the harbour and read of his climbing Bellevue Hill, strolling over to near Syd Uni and then across to Pyrmont and onto what Phillip was to call Sydney Cove, continually counting the useful islands for grazing and a penitentiary settlement as well as being defensible against the French poking around there too. And all the time, Cook kept stum about this, stalling spies in his crew, putting all emphasis on the name of Botany Bay in anything he wrote and obfuscating greatly about his time there.

After finding out about Sydney’s great harbour he’d found his prize for the Admiralty, and didn’t bother checking out other ports on his way up the temperate coast (a fact which was rather inexplicable before Margaret Cameron-Ash’s sleuthing). Botany Bay was the song that was sung for so long. Cameron-Ash awards it the title of the world’s greatest decoy operation, rivaling the Trojan Horse. Nowadays, The Coathanger and The Opera House define Sydney Harbour to the world. With Albo leading Sydney’s Pride.

Botany Bay has retreated to being an afterthought.

Why don’t they investigate the SD&AE Union’s r/ship with Coles and Woolworths?

Is the redwood tree of California able to be grown for mass production/plantation in Oz.

So many trees from other parts of the world do very well in Australia’s climate and soil.
If only the CSIRO could look at pros and cons of different sorts of reafforestation we would benefit.
Tasmania has an excellent cold climate for plenty of European trees and yet thousands of acres are covered in impenetrable scrub forest, legacy of aboriginal burning practices. Raze it, and start again.
Rinse and repeat elsewhere in this land, produce new microclimates once the plentiful water in temperate river systems is harvested as it should be.

Australia’s lack of arboreal diversity is really boring for tourists. Greater diversity could produce many economic benefits in both wood and tourism. Classic vistas could also be restored by selective felling of gums if the sacredness of our bequeathed ecology was questioned and pastures restored and dotted with European oak, ash and other trees..

Likes its moisture. There is a copse of them in Victoriastan somewhere. I suspect the economics of eucalyptus would be superior or it would have been done by now.

I would think a California redwood would be like bamboo or ficus. Something you plant in a rental just before you leave.

We left Sydney this morning to prepare for the projected bad fire conditions on the other side of the Great Divide. We left behind the beginnings of absolute road chaos created by the indulgent march of the Rainbow/Alphabet people over the Harbour Bridge this morning. God helps – this is crazy stuff.

Arrived at our departure from the highway to our valley & stopped to browse the monthly market at the little town at the crossroads. Normal people offering modest goods and creations on a very warm day. Bought some excellent whisky from a local distiller who has recently won international competition. Cost a bomb – but we know that he suffered mightily from the Covid lockdowns. In fact he recently posted on local Facebook site that he is still suffering PTSD from the experience of almost losing a business he had put so much into.

Point of all this – the city’s are suffering from the cesspools that are forming in their midst. Many think that they will be dissipated by the norms of the community. Good luck with that.

Instead our children are fed Bruce Pascoe nonsense and only the aboriginal tale, sanitised.

Cite you the Wheatbelt schools who showed “Rabbit Proof Fence” so many times that the children lost all interest, especially when it was pointed out that “your great grandparents were farming on the Rabbit Proof Fence, at the time, and they never mentioned three Aboriginal girls, with a police patrol in pursuit.”

To get the proles to eat bugs we have to destroy the food outlets they like.
At least it’s Shine, not Slugs and Grubs, the latter would be too obvious.

Huh?
The Managers are standing over the kids not to take their paid Smoko.

Don’t want Unions visiting your sites?
Then stick to the Award, which includes a 10 minute paid Smoko and you shouldn’t have any problems.
It’s not Rocket Science.

Luckily I am not allowed to drink or a glass of wine would have gone over my keyboard at that.

I’ve visited the Victorian redwood plantation near Warburton.
They do extremely well with high rainfall which is why the ones in NZ are so big, a metre a year apparently.
Californian rainfall is not as consistent.there’s also a taller stand in the Otways.
