Some footy news for Tickler.
Last night was Buddy Franklin’s 350th AFL game.
The sycophantic commentary was vomit-inducing.
The facts.
7 disposals.
3 free kicks given away.
Kicked two goals. One was a lucky juggled mark from a poor spoiling effort by St Kilda.
The other was a scrappy affair on the goal line which replays showed his foot over the line in the act of kicking (not a goal but nobody bothered with that rule because Buddy).
And he simply can’t be arsed doing any defensive chasing.
But can’t be put out to pasture because racism.

The video in that link was of a line being set via helicopter, not state-sponsored arson.

So did it use a laser (“directed energy weapon”) to start the fires “immediately” or did it actually take a few hours to fly 500 km or so?

Here’s the bint:

Sociologist earns ten times more than frontline troops
Defence handed sociologist Dr Samantha Crompvoets and her company almost $6.5 million to investigate cultural issues but paid SAS soldiers just $169.77 each day they were in Afghanistan.

This bitch and the dogs who hired her should be dropped into Kabul.

Things might have changed in the couple of decades since I left Defence, but I suspect that the $169.77 per day is their Deployment Allowance, paid on top of normal salary and allowances, and the whole lot tax free for the period of deployment.

I have no doubt that Crumpets was grossly overpaid to prepare her hatchet work, but that is a different issue.

Samantha Crompvoets, an expert on organisational culture, was commissioned by the Department of Defence in 2015 to produce a report that led to military personnel disclosing claims of unlawful behaviour including alleged war crimes.

I had forgotten about her pivotal role in this saga. At the time I didn’t think it would end well. When you want to find a certain answer, you hire the most likely one to produce it.

There is a certain morbid fascination in watching to see if he can become even more deluded.

I think he writes something sensible for every post. Then he extrudes it through an algorithm that reverses the sense of any useful contribution and splatterfests the bowl with it, then leaves without using the brush or washing his hands.

They undoubtedly did so, but given the harshness of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, that took Russia out of the war (“This treaty, that Russia, grinding its teeth, is forced to sign.” Lenin), they were not really in a position to complain in 1919. Later it became a different matter as the world economy imploded.

Numerous of her comments at the time were “encouraging” others to get jabbed. There was no qualifying statement that this course of action was best for those with weakened immune systems etc. Rather this was a universal “prodding” by her for others to get it done.

When I challenged her on her “messaging” and suggested that she leave others alone to make up their own minds, she admitted that she wanted out of the lock downs, and if vaxxing was the only way to get out of it, well, so be it. So, more self-regarding than other-regarding.

And from then on and up until the present, she has put up numerous links attempting always to show the vaxx narrative in a supportive light whenever anyone puts up something that is not as jab celebratory.

Any predictions where this Higgins mess is going to end up?

Here’s mine. The recent wage hikes are going to underwrite continued high inflation way over the RBA target. The most recent RBA rate hike seems to have psychologically hurt more than the others, and I suspect there is more to come as the RBA will be forced to offset wage inflation. The Squeal (Voice) is going to fall on its back.

Add in the perceived shenanigans over the Higgins bullshit, and we end up with a quite unpopular first-term government that could end up being its only term. The economy matters.

That big-eared Queensland dunce of a treasurer was telling us the other day that we’re going to see increased productivity as a result of AI and magnificent new technologies that will be introduced soon. In not kidding, Chalmers makes Shane Wand look like a genius.

Whoops, and I almost forgot. There’s a 30% increase in energy prices about to hit in July further aggravating the inflation rate.

If it wasn’t so tragic, this would be quite funny.

I had a regular cardio checkup a couple of days ago. He’s an excellent doc and trained in NYC, which obviously makes him one of the best.  🙂  All good, but showed concern about the smoking issue. He’s such a good guy, as he’s not in the least judgemental but just presented the risks.
Anyway, he was telling me about his sister, who’s financially illiterate (he claimed). She had called him very concerned that, come July, her mortgage interest rate was moving from 2.5% to 6.5% and said that she was very distressed. He reminded her that there’s more bad news because her energy bill is going up by 30% come July, and she should make allowance for this.

If we’re not careful, the whole freaking place could tip over.

If you put it in dollars, a mortgage payment on an interest only loan for say $500,000 will more from $12,500 (2.5%), or a monthly payment of $1,041 to a monthly payment of $2,708. FMD that’s going to hurt people. Assuming a tax rate of 40%, someone will have to earn around $50,000 in gross income just to fill the gap for the extra interest charge.

You are just making your own biased subjective judgement.
To be honest I don’t remember ever engaging in any debate re mandates with you in 2021.
What I do remember is scoffing at the incredibly mendacious and stupid lies regarding the ‘three young Canadian doctors’ and you getting all huffy and defensive. Steve Kirsch is a billionaire and he said so, as though that was a valid argument.
All I ever said re ‘mandates’ was I was hopeful that a vaccine percentage (which I foolishly assumed would be achieved on a voluntary basis) might be a pathway out of an endless cycle of lockdowns in Victoria because Andrews was committed to a policy of zero covid.
I never supported mandates. Full stop end of story

I had a regular cardio checkup a couple of days ago. He’s an excellent doc and trained in NYC, which obviously makes him one of the best. ? All good, but showed concern about the smoking issue.

JC. Question for you. While everyone is focused on mortgage holders what about all the companies that borrowed heavily in recent years? Is there a risk the rising rates will eventually start to result in a series of liquidations and bankruptcies? I imagine that risk is much higher for SMEs than larger companies.

I have to say that the ad from ? which highlights the equal pay for equal work must have cut- through for many. Every nurse to be paid the same, regardless of experience etc etc – really?? I don’t think that anyone posting their opinion here will convince or alter the decisions of others.

P, while I agree with you in a general sense, at the height of the vaxx push the messaging swirling around in the community/media from govt was equally goading and threatening of those who were, for whatever reason, considering not conforming.

As background, when the new era of govt control through the utilisation of the medical expert community emerged, the Cat took on a dimension beyond what seemed its previous role of opinion exchange (with some bonhomie and regard for each other thrown in).

Probably for the first time at this (and the old blog), the subject of conversation was quite possibly going to have a personal effect on every single contributor and reader of the site: it went beyond just an academic exercise.

Yes, it was spectrum-type effect, as some were more vulnerable, or affected more than others, to the govt action. But I would argue that everyone was trying to determine the best course to take for themselves.

No doubt some people didn’t change their positions, but others did, as the Cat contributors filled in the lack of detail with links and discussions.

I changed my long held position because of some of the information that I came across on the site, which then led me to more discussions and more data elsewhere.

I have no qualms with anyone taking whatever path they chose – and for any course of action, not just this – because I don’t know them.

And even if I did, such a decision should be always the person’s themselves (with perhaps advice from the quarter they choose).

But what I objected to at the time, and still do, is that it seemed that the personal choice of some was deliberately being discounted by others to their needs.

If it wasn’t so tragic, this would be quite funny.

The labor bunch are not very smart, hardly even qualify as midwits – none to my knowledge has proven themselves in the real world outside Labor factional games.

So the results are that they have introduced key policies which have marginal benefits at very best (Voice, IR, Energy), wasted the highest terms of trade ever and shown no signs of the Hawke touch in explaining and managing change for the average aussies.

Expect Elbow to be rolled amid factional fighting by end of year. Dutton ain’t great but “calm and measured” might look like genius by 2024.

Yeah.
About ten terms of Federal Labor Government.
Sure, Higgins got paid overs perhaps, but of some random had a daughter making her way in Canberra and she got screwed over by absolute scumbags, what would it be worth in $$ terms to make it all good.
Right or wrong, the nLiberal Government were going to stick with Bruce Lehrmann even if it cost them Government.
Without the Higgins scandal, Morrison was in there forever.

Now, Labor’s problem is that they’re all useless shitbags, so they’ve got to keep the Higgins thing going forever, because female voters are outraged over it.
Then there’s The Voice, the NO Case will be on life support if Peter Dutton goes.
Since Dutton was the Minister in charge of the AFP from the time Higgins was raped until Reynolds lost her job as Defence Minister after Higgins went public, and since Dutton was actually working with the AFP while he was in the Queensland Police Force, an Inquiry into the Higgins payout is a good place to broaden scope to ask Dutton what he knew and when he knew it.
Then call an Election to coincide with the Voice Referendum and reap the rewards.

For Melbourne Cats the lighter-than-helium Ding Dong Dunleavy got boned by 3AW during the week.
The published story talked about adjusted ratings post-Covid but I couldn’t see any real trend in the numbers. ABC ratings are tanking and maybe she wasn’t picking up enough of the fallout.
I did mention before that she seemed to have a bunch of woke issues on high rotation – wood fires, large 4WDs, extreme animal rights.
I suspect the call register was chockers full of complaints about that sort of stuff and might be a lead indicator of a ratings cliff.
Another thing which Mrs P just pointed out to me. Rita Panahi used to be a regular and seems to have disappeared. The discomfort of Ding Dong was palpable when Rita used to take woke callers and guests to the cleaners. If Ding Dong and/or her J-school producers gave Rita the flick, the complaints register would have been yuuuge.

How Elon Musk Beat the Mainstream Media | Konstantin Kisin
John Anderson

In this clip, John and Konstantin Kisin discuss Elon Musk’s recent interview with the BBC. Kisin expresses his disappointment with the interviewer, noting that not only did he ask questions in bad faith, but the interviewer also ran out of questions. Kisin contrasts this with his experience during Bill Maher’s interview with Elon Musk, where Maher approached the conversation with genuine curiosity and excitement. Overall, Kisin sees this as an indictment of the state of modern journalism, suggesting that today’s journalists are often more focused on virtue signaling to their peers rather than genuinely uncovering important and interesting information.

We all realise that you are not the sharpest tool in the shed, but even you should be aware that references to a “black cleaner ” and to “It’s like, I’m not racist. I’ve got a black friend” are beyond the pale in this day and age.

Ah, I understand. You are using the standard applied to leftards like yourself. Do carry on.

Hey, scoring 8 out 10 `aint bad, especially in this term’s field.

Most of these ideas are what every country needs, which makes him the best candidate on policies.
But practically, his underfunded political outsider status (and sadly his Indian-American visage, even in 2023 USA), plus the formidable uniparty shenanigans machine, will altogether stymie his chances.

And I know what was my intention when I made comments about this or that.
I have repeatedly stated I had no interest in proding anyone into getting vaccinated, particularly not here.
And yes I objected to people being told they had to remain unvaccinated even if they were in a vulnerable category because ‘my rights’.
Your subjective interpretations are just that. Subjective interpretations driven by your own prejudices.
And I continue to be the scapegoat because I’m one of the very few here who hasn’t spend two years bleating about the terrible horrible vaxx and because I continue to disbelieve the everyone who got the vaxx is now doomed narrative.
(Without for one minute disagreeing that it is a matter of fact that some people had severe and sometimes fatal adverse reactions within a short period after being vaccinated.)
Now go forecast some earthquakes.

JC. Question for you. While everyone is focused on mortgage holders what about all the companies that borrowed heavily in recent years? Is there a risk the rising rates will eventually start to result in a series of liquidations and bankruptcies? I imagine that risk is much higher for SMEs than larger companies.

John H. Great question.

Look, I suspect large businesses that issued bonds during the pandemic would be okay because maturity was for long duration for the most part.

If I recall, business loans for small firms never really fell to extreme levels, and I think interest rates for these sorts of loans never fell below 4% to 4.5%. There could be some distress here, as I’m sure business owners may have taken out mortgages on their homes.
There will be some issues here, but not as many as in the mortgage market. At least that’s my take.

There is a wise saying in broadcasting, borne of painful experience:-

Particularly the mikes you have turned on yourself for your Walkley-worthy moment.
So, private comment?
Yeah.
But nah.

Personally I think there are 2 ways of looking at this: firstly the SOBs are the ones screwing up humanity; alternatively, the aliens are our last and best chance of reintroducing sanity into the mess humanity has now got itself into. Let’s hope they’re Trump supporters and are about to erect gallows for the swamp arseholes.

He has spent a great deal of money on doctors and specialists. It is certain that his condition was caused by the vaccination.
Although now back at work his duties as an electrician are limited by his condition, and his employers who are caring and sympathetic unfortunately cannot change the present situation.

In a just world, his employer would be looking down the barrel of a massive law suit and the government who masterminded it all would be swinging from gallows. The employer should already be tripping over themselves to help him with all his expenses.

But that won’t happen and your friend will spend all his money trying to get back to health from a condition that the medical profession is twisting itself in knots to hide from and protecting the vax in their embarrassment.

I wish your friend all the best and a pox on his employer and the government

Thanks JC. I was unaware of the interest rate situation. My view is that it may be a long road downhill for many businesses so it may take some time for the effects to become apparent. When the recession hits there could be many SMEs hitting the wall.

Your take is consistent with a friend’s opinion from a few months ago.

After my 4 covid shot it was just two weeks later that I went down with severe dose of covid. This was followed by nearly a year of myocarditis. A CT scan and a stress test when I had just about recovered fortunately showed no major heart damage but I now live on blood pressure and ch0lesterol drugs to reduce risk. The mycocaditis was particularly unpleasant. Even minor exercise tightened the chest and felt like a heart attack was imminent. Energy levels were at rock bottom and even though I am over it I am not back to where I was.
