For example, we have an article on the referendum written by one of our First Nations members that will feature prominently in the next edition of national member magazine.”

We is getting rooly, rooly serious now! .. as we all know tens, if not 100s, of thousands of union members anxiously await each new issue of their, relevant, union bible so they can be up to date on current matters …..!

Earlier:

The Police Spokesperson on the ABC News just now said “The person shot has not been formally identified”.

So no one in plod-land reads the Mail online .. they had no trouble with names .. lol!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12236451/Bondi-Junction-Man-believed-shot-Spring-St-Sydney.html

Mr Rotten, at 2.14:

Oh, they new alright as they managed to contact his next of kin………..lol. BUT, could not tell the Australian MSM………………….FFS.

‘Formally identified’ does not mean:
a. Recognising someone from the telly;
b. Thinking the dead bloke looks vaguely like the picture on a driver licence in his pocket; nor
c. Conflating the registered owner of a car with a half-headless person inside it.

‘Formally identified’ means someone who knows the dead bloke very, very well identifying him while he’s on the slab, and quite often with either bits missing or bits sticking into him. They go to paper. ‘My name is X, I have today seen the body of a person I know as XX XXXX. I have known XX XXXX for X amount of years. He was my son/father/brother/cousin/workmate/longtime friend.’

Then, and only then, is a deadun ‘formally identified’ – even though on occasions it may be obvious who it is. Plod will not usually trumpet this sort of thing to the media. If the family want to do it, fine. If the media want to roll the dice and hope they don’t get it wrong (even though at times the NOK have yet to be told) – well, that’s their own business.

they new alright as they managed to contact his next of kin

In order to have the next of kin do the formal identifying, as described.

BUT, could not tell the Australian MSM………………….FFS

Because if they went to the ‘Australian MSM*’ first they run the gauntlet of the bloke not actually being who they thought it was. Easy to do with headless people and the like.

In any event – why is this your business?

*This would be the same ‘Australian MSM’ that is subject to relentless (justified) bagging from all corners, yet which is still slavishly pored over by the same corners.

……………..LOL………………….FFS…………………..lol.

you think that sheer force will mean an attack will rob you of your treasures, during which you may be physically injured, so you will be better off without them.

Well.. yes and no.
Valuables can be used in bargaining, but are no guarantee against sheer force, be it weaponised or not.
Once there are no rules, nothing is off the table.
Cathars, Templars, Monks, Huguenots, French Aristocrats, Kulaks, Jews etc.. can attest to that.
Of course, learning to use force/weapons can help against some of these threats. Something that precious possessions, on their own, cannot do.
If it’s everyone for themselves… you know the rest.

But fear of disclosure is often why people concealed the treasures they took with them, sewn into clothing

A lady, and her husband, who fled Hitler’s Germany in the 1930’s and settled in a West Australian rural town, convinced an openly mocking German immigration official, as they left Germany, that the contents of the ladies jewellery case were worthless, costume jewellery…

“So like a Joo, taking worthless costume jewellery, to decorate yourself…”

In that case we should propose Canberra be renamed Quadrant.

Discussion upthread about middle aged businessmen and politicians taking guidance from their teenage children.
I watched a doco last night about Elizabeth Holmes who ran Theranos (the dodgy ‘one drop of blood’ pathology company).
She had a few well known old guys on the board (including Henry Kissinger, George Shulz).
They were totally in her thrall, to the point that, when Shultz’s grandson (who was working at Theranos) warned him that it was a fraud, he cut the grandson off cold.
It’s as if these guys vicariously recapture their youth through association with “a bright young thing” and suspend any inquisitive instincts they must have had as younger men.
The doco was well worth a look.
We had seen a previous dramatisation and thought they must have cranked up her sociopathy for dramatic effect.
If anything they under-cooked it.
Wow!
What a piece of work.

Well, that’s the theory. The only time we were threatened by an aggro loonie all he and Hairy did was yell abuse to each other until Hairy’s abuse was the loudest and worst and from the greater height at the top of the stairs to the loonie’s position at the bottom, and so the loonie slunk away. We knew him and Hairy did well to see him off.

Barry Cable: Victim of fallen AFL icon says stripping of legend status is 25 years too late
Tim Clarke
The West Australian
Tue, 27 June 2023 2:29PM

The woman who was sexually abused for years by fallen AFL icon Barry Cable has said the league’s decision to strip him of his legend status has come 25 years too late.

After decades of allegations — but no convictions — a District Court judge ruled earlier this month that he believed Cable was a child abuser.

He believed that because he believed the allegations made by a woman who lived close to Cable when she was a child, and then became his victim for nearly six years.

During a trial which ended with Cable being ordered to pay more than $800,000 in damages, four more women came forward to say they had also been abused by Cable — allegations Judge Mark Herron also said he believed.

And following those damning findings, the AFL on Tuesday announced Cable was being dumped from their Hall of Fame — following similar moves by WA sporting authorities to strip the 79 year-old of other accolades.

In a statement issued through her solicitor Michael Magazanik, the woman said she welcomed the move.

“He was never a Legend. He was a paedophile and a liar who bullied and abused children,” she said.

“Today’s decision by the AFL is nearly a quarter of a century late as far as I am concerned.

“If the WA Director of Public Prosecutions had charged Cable on the police evidence presented in 1999, he would not have enjoyed another 25 years of fame and respect.

“For decades I and the other women he preyed upon as children have had to deal with the damage and trauma he caused.

The renewable dash for cash.
Here’s a brief timeline of the VNI West transmission line project.
2022
– July 22nd AEMO releases a document that outlines the transmission line projects. Melbourne-Bendigo-Kerang is still the path.
– Dec 2 AEMO and Transgrid put out another paper saying other options for VNI West are being investigated.
– Dec 20th (Secret Santa) Another document that for the first time shows a big shaded area from Bulgana to Kerang as option 5 (Get Jacinta Allan as new premier option- must avoid Bendigo)
2022
– Feb 3rd A discussion and consultation paper released. The document claims that new route options were chosen because of consultation with key community stakeholders. The ghost who walks among us, because nobody knew, not even the media.
– Feb 19th (Sun) Landholders are stuck out from appealing to National Electricity Law by the Andrew’s government.
– March 15th Rural media print a copy of the proposed path.
– April 5th VNI West submissions to AEMO close.
– May 27th (Sat) State Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio uses an order to approve and fast track the western link transmission lines plus an unannounced route change from an Echuca crossing to a Koondrook crossing. Consultation for landholders in the new zone – zero.

July is the month in which all the consultation will be finalised and a narrowed down path chosen. September will be D Day for final environmental studies (why bother as the decision to build is set in stone).
Construction to commence in 2026 and finished in 2030.

The joke:

Early morning, 18 June 1815, the day of the Battle of Waterloo.

Napoleon and his chief of staff are standing outside the farmhouse being used as HQ, looking across the valley to where Wellington is deploying his army.

Napoleon: “Wellington has gathered an impressive force, this will be a hard battle.” He thinks for a moment, and then calls his valet, who is laying out his uniform for the day: “For such a hard battle, I will wear the red shirt, so that if I am wounded, the men will not see the blood and lose heart”.

Soon after, Marshal Ney, commanding Napoleon’s cavalry, gallops up to the farmhouse, jumps from his horse, and reports: “Sire, my scouts have returned, they report that Marshal Blucher is marching with 100,000 Prussian troops to join Wellington this day”.

Napoleon thinks for a moment, and calls to his valet: “And I will wear the brown trousers”.

There were no Geneva rules in those days. Like 1500 years ago. FFS.

If you read what I said you’ll see that I agreed that it was at times no holds barred.
But things are contextual, always.
For instance, reports of the Viking attack on Lindisfarne in 793 makes it appear as though all of the monks were killed. But some did escape and others were taken alive by the Vikings into slavery, more valuable alive than dead. It wasn’t a total massacre. Certainly, one wouldn’t expect much mercy from the Vikings as their culture demanded blood sacrifices of defeated enemies; they were doubtless further incensed by the attacks by Charlemagne on their own religious beliefs and allies when he killed 4,500 Odin-worshipping tribal chiefs of Saxony in Verdun in 783, which started off in 772.

Melbourne boy, 14, hit by car then killed in stabbing attack by two masked men
Teenager was in St Albans with two friends, walking home from the train station, when SUV struck him and men got out

Victoria police Det Insp David Dunstan said the attack was horrific as he revealed investigators believe the 14-year-old boy was targeted but it was not gang related.

Local police will step up patrols in the area however Dunstan said the rest of the community was not in danger.

He said the victim may have known another teenager who was fatally attacked in the nearby suburb of Sunshine in May as they lived and attended school in the same area, however there was no evidence the crimes were linked.

One of Hollywood’s most powerful figures has dismissed the Duchess of Sussex as a talentless broadcaster after the end of her multimillion-dollar deal with Spotify.

Jeremy Zimmer, who is the chief executive of United Talent Agency, gave his view on the audio talent of the duchess after the streaming giant backed out of its $20 million deal.

Zimmer, who has guided the careers of household names such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Damian Lewis, said he was not surprised that Spotify had parted ways with the couple after one series.

“Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent,” he told the news website Semafor at the Cannes Lions advertising festival in France. “And, you know, just because you’re famous doesn’t make you great at something,” he added.

From the IPA today:

The federal president of the Australian Education Union, Ms Haythorpe, has stated, ‘Our union, which consists of public school, preschool and TAFE teachers, principals and support workers, overwhelmingly backs in First Nations Australians and their call for self-determination through constitutional reform… and, that is why we will back this in with resources including a Voice Campaign Lead officer and project officers.’

The AEU is ensuring there are human resources in each state who ‘identify as First Nation to assist with the Yes campaign’. [Read here]

Australian teachers are under enormous pressure to discuss the upcoming referendum in the classroom and will be inundated with biased resources to do so.

However, (the IPA) Class Action is ahead of the game. I am delighted to share the launch of Class Action’s latest inquiry unit for Year 9 and 10 students, The Voice Referendum: What’s it got to do with you? [View and download here]

The Voice Referendum
The unit gives students the opportunity to deliberate on the Voice and explore both sides of the debate. Students critically examine arguments about race, identity, political power, representation and the powerful role of the Australian High Court, all of which play a role in our system of democracy. After fully informing them, students are asked to consider some pretty tough questions.

Is voting Yes the right thing for all Australians?
Is voting No racist as some have suggested?
Is a permanent race-based body in the Constitution a good idea?

This unit is also helpful to any adult reflecting on the issues.

Please view this introductory video, which accompanies the curriculum unit. [View here]

Class-Action – The Voice
I request you to share this unit with teachers and educators within your network. I will be working hard to ensure that it reaches as many teachers as possible.

Not either logical or consistent. Just a knee jerk, silly reaction to the current state of political affairs, and the increasingly rabid cultural provocations of the feral far left.

Mmm the Grampian Nazis are out in force:

The number of security incidents at parliament have almost tripled since before Covid.

Latest parliamentary data reveals 286 security incidents were recorded across parliament and electorate offices until May in 2022-2023.

Incidents include threats and intimidation, vandalism and (gasp) demonstrations.

The number is significantly higher than the 107 incidents recorded in 2019-2020.

The number of incidents increased dramatically during the pandemic as a result of Covid restrictions and pandemic legislation.

But MPs say they are concerned the number has not fallen post pandemic.

Manager of opposition business, James Newbury, said state MPs were not afforded the same legal cover as their federal counterparts.

Under Commonwealth legislation Federal MPs are provided with additional protections at law including specific offences for causing harm to or obstructing Commonwealth public officials.

“Every Victorian, including those who work at Parliament House, should be safe at work,” Mr Newbury said.

“But we know Members are now being threatened, on average, every day of the working week.

“We need to consider whether substandard Victorian laws and protections need to be brought into line with national measures.”

Parliamentary data also shows that during an average day the Victorian parliament’s computer network receives more than 10,000 threat events.

Presiding officers Shaune Leane and Maree Edwards told the parliament’s Public Accounts and Estimates Committee the security and wellbeing of MPs, staff and visitors was a priority.

“As Presiding Officers, we will work closely with Members and stakeholders on any proposals for legislative reform that are aimed at increasing safety of all those participants in the parliamentary workplace,” they said.

“However, changes to legislation are ultimately matters for the Houses to determine.”

A government spokesperson refused to comment saying: “parliament security matters are a matter for the parliament.”

Earlier this month Bradley Carter faced court accused of stalking and harassing Daniel Andrews.

The court heard Mr Carter left voicemails or spoke to staff at Mr Andrews’ office.

“You tell Danny boy my proxies are on the way, it’s up to him whether they’re wearing white or black hats,” one message allegedly read.

“You stole justice from the wrong man you little twerps.”

“They were informed of the virus three years before the virus.”

The Premier has also been subjected to death threats.

In March, Animal Justice Party MP Georgie Purcell detailed being repeatedly abused and harassed since entering politics.

Let’s put this notion that Putin suppresses the opposition in a bit of context. Yes, Nalvany got prosecuted. But he was not the leader of the main opposition party, his party was 5th or 6th down the list. So him going to jail would be like use throwing Pauline Hanson in jail.

That your argument has now descended to ‘if you’re not for Ukraine you must be a communist or communist adjacent’ just shows how little confidence you have of the merits of your own position.

..
I am as confident of my position on this as I was of my position on the vaccines, that they were not going to work out to end the pandemic they way they thought they would. I had no reservation about making that categorical prediction because I knew that their model depended on a half a dozen different things ALL being true, each of which had a probability below 90%, some well below. Multiplied out that made their predictions garbage and their position that the vaccines should be mandatory or all but mandatory, highly authoritarian and inappropriate.
Likewise, for things to be the way you think they are vis-à-vis the Wests stance towards the Ukraine and our relationship with our very necessary alliance with the USA, multiple things, many of them not just of low probability, but many with probabilities that can’t even be estimated, ALL have to fall your way.
Numerous people throughout the West have to have been bribed. The current cultural malaise needs to be fatal. The Russians have to be what you assume them to be, and not what they give every appearance of being. The Ukraine has to be irredeemably corrupt and Nazis who happened to elect a j*wish president. The breaking of our allegiances has to have better outcomes than continuing with them. I could go on and on with the assumptions you are making, some of which may be true in whole or in part, but which ALL need to be correct for your position to be the correct one.
No.
I am as sure of this as I am about the vaccine f- up.
And as your position is the outlier, you are the one required to bring the tickets, whereas throughout the day it’s been me showing the proof.
Finally, and this is the big one, your position rests on a total logical failure.
Are we really to break an alliance and fall in with that alliance’s opponents because we think that the current leadership of that alliance may be being influenced by the very opponents the alliance is set up to oppose?
So we are to jump into the fire to avoid the inconvenience of tottering on the edge of the fire?

Neither.

Indeed. And the best chance of that occurring is with a multipolar world. China is already a major power. ‘Containing’ it now simply to stave off diminishing US ‘hegemony’ is a fool’s errand. China, however, will not enjoy what the US has these last few decades. It will, like India, Brazil, the Europeans, etc. find itself a regional power balanced by the others incl. the US.

And India.

Because it it the simplest and most elegant solution:
Really?
..
How did it work re COVID? On abortion? On trans? On water management? Energy policy? And so on. Not very well it appears.

..
How are the things you oppose (and I also almost entirely) on any of those issues characterised as the most simple or elegant?
How is neutering children in response to a usually passing mental condition simple or elegant in comparison to say, DOING NOTHING and letting things resolve themselves?
How is banning our current means of transportation (ICE) and dithering about with stupid renewables either simple or elegant in comparison to say, leaving things alone letting the market sort out wha5 type of vehicles people want to buy and what types of fuel to use?
On abortion, how is turning something that a vast majority of people believe should be a very rare exception into a form of contraception the simple solution? As opposed to making the case to young people that maybe they shouldn’t take sex so lightly that they end up in the position of making that awful decision.
No. In every case you mention the overly complex reasoning is the indication that something isn’t right in the reasoning presented.
The simple, elegant and logical is the correct reasoning.

Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

Bang on the money, Mr Orwell. Here we go:

The English are a nation populated by small timid shopkeepers and librarians, who manage to be simultaneously spindly and pasty. This is a consequence of generations of sending their children down mineshafts for 20 hours a day after their eighth birthdays. They suffer convulsions if affected by lack of sleet, and if the temperature rises above 20 degrees.

Their musical idols are raving pouves, and none of them can cook – evidenced by their diet of kippers and various intestines.

Like Californians after them, they insist on leaving their ancestral shitholes and then complaining that the places they move to are not up to standard. For the Poms, this means not cold enough, not hot enough, without the requisite levels of smog to maintain their bone-white complexions and that there are not enough other English in whichever enclave they cement themselves into.

The UK should be hooked up and towed west-northwest, and then moored off the coast of Iceland so they can be properly enslaved by Vikings again, as they were 1500 years ago.

Their expats should be rounded up, cattle-carred to Hall Creek, dumped, the town renamed Manchester and its new occupants left to fend for themselves. Without phones, to reduce the whinging to a more manageable level in the one location.

I exposed war crimes among the SAS. A few weeks ago, my car was repossessed
Samantha Crompvoets
Sociologist
June 27, 2023 — 7.30pm

When my car was repossessed by debt collectors a few weeks ago, amid wrapping up loose ends after my company went into liquidation, it made me reflect on the life I once led and the one I lead now.

That war crimes committed on the other side of the world, and my involvement in unearthing them, could set off a chain of events that would bring down Australia’s greatest military hero, and somehow be part of the same narrative that now included my car being driven off by a stranger.

It wasn’t long ago that I had been a successful business owner with a string of government contracts.

For me, it all began on Australia Day 2016. That was the day I submitted a report to army chief General Angus Campbell that would trigger the biggest inquiry into war crimes in Australia’s history. It would also be the day that David Morrison, chief of Army from 2011 to 2015, would be awarded Australian of the Year. Chair of the committee that chose the winner was Special Forces soldier Ben Roberts-Smith.

The first time I heard mention of war crimes among Australian Special Forces soldiers in Afghanistan was in 2014, in a small, partially furnished office in an Army barracks. I’m a sociologist and I had been contracted by the army to undertake a number of research projects. I was speaking with an army chaplain about domestic violence prevalence. The conversation went well beyond the initial topic. It was the first time I heard of the “serious misconduct” that was occurring within SAS patrols in Afghanistan. The chaplain described returning from deployment “a broken man”, having tried and failed to have his concerns taken seriously.

It wasn’t until late 2015, in one of the first interviews I did for a project in Special Operations Command, which oversees special forces units, that the chaplain’s story came back to me. That project began as an examination of Special Operations capability. It ended in a report on war crimes that led to the Brereton Report and news stories that resulted in Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith unsuccessfully suing this masthead for defamation.

The Federal Court last month found Roberts-Smith was a liar and murderer who engaged in war crimes. At the time of my initial report, I had no idea what that report would eventually cost me, personally and professionally.

For I now realise that what I was coming up against was more than the horrific acts of a few rogue soldiers. It was the cult of brand “SAS”; the cult of the male warrior. In this cult, unsanctioned violence is justified, encouraged and celebrated.

It seemed my report on the SAS had triggered a threat to some Australian men’s masculinity. I’d dared question their heroes. These loud voices would hound me for years. The attacks on me to be bashed, killed, tortured, and my livelihood destroyed came via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, email, text and phone call. Mostly the backlash came from those not in the military, but some were ex-military and younger white male soldiers – all of whom appear to idolise the SAS as

When the war crimes allegations emerged, then defence minister Dutton said he had made it “very clear” to Defence that I should not be awarded further contracts. That he did not want the military to be “distracted by things that have happened in the past”. My credibility was questioned repeatedly by Jacqui Lambie and reiterated in the Murdoch press.

It became politically inconvenient for me to keep speaking about the SAS issues. In 2021, I had written an essay about how misconduct becomes entrenched in organisations and how it spreads, and I used the SAS as a primary example. The Australian Government Solicitor unsuccessfully tried to stop my essay being published.

In a letter I received from the government solicitor’s office shortly after publication, I was told my conduct and public statements had “harmed the Commonwealth”. The result was that my ongoing work with the government was “terminated for convenience”.

The implications for me, my family, my business, and my staff were profound. The message had been sent to the department loud and clear that I was now a liability and a risk. No work would follow. Work in the pipeline was stopped indefinitely. I’d told the truth, so they cut me out.

After that my business collapsed and my mental health declined amid the endless stream of misogynistic threats through social media. Work from other organisations was not forthcoming. I gather this was because most businesses hire consultants to tell them what they want to hear, not uncover what is really at the heart of their problems.
Related Article
Samantha Crompvoets said she had paid a high personal and professional price for her work exposing alleged war crimes in Afghanistan

I once heard Special Forces described as the “weeping sore” of the Army that no one was prepared to tend to. But there is a cost to organisations that leave issues to fester. It teaches others in the organisation that bad behaviour is acceptable, that those who engage in it will be protected, that to dismiss it is the norm. Such attitudes seep through an organisation and rot it. When the day finally comes that these problems must be addressed, the damage is far greater for all involved.

But the greatest takeaway from my experience is a personal one. That despite the cost, I would do it all again. I am grateful for the trust placed in me by soldiers and officers who gave accounts of egregious acts of violence and cover-ups. I have never taken it for granted and I have felt an unwavering duty of care to them.

You can’t turn contrails off, it would mean the engine has stopped.

No. It wouldn’t.

It would more likely mean that the aircraft had exited the atmospheric conditions which cause contrails to form. As in it climbed or descended.

Another possible explanation for “contrails” in this case is simply dumping down fuel to make landing weight.

There is a good argument for Australian rearmament on a large scale. China is a threat and not being beholden to America is a good thing.

Yes, it would cost a lot of money but I can find the money and have some left over for debt consolidation and tax cuts. G/GDP can easily be 15% to 20% and no more.

There are multiple reasons to do this:

We have neglected the military for a long time to the point of routinely having undermanned regiments.
China is very expansionist and aggressive.
We would be able to deal with state and non-state piracy which affects our trade routes and counter asymmetric hard power by unsavoury states.
It is a direct foil to soft power we don’t have the economic capacity to deal with.
North Korea is too a threat.
Having our own capable defence, we can be an ally, not a client state. America benefits from this too.
Being obliged to support America in anything they do exposes you to both unpredictable non-state actors retaliating asymmetrically (“terrorism” to be curt) and it also means you might accelerate a regional conflict far removed from us that could, unfortunately, slide into global nuclear war after a chain of escalating events.
It drastically increases the disincentive to threaten Australian interests let alone makes invading us seem rather foolhardy.

I’ve recently supported the idea of the large-scale adoption of drones, nukes and a large militia. I still support that.

The question is if the voters would support spending about 8% of GDP on defence instead of 2%.

I mean three regular corps of the army, plus a reserve.
A Navy four times the size of what we have, to match the Army.
The airforce expanded similarly.

I would rather pay upfront than pay later for an unspecified amount.

Pentagon names finalists to replace Bradley Fighting Vehicle

General Dynamics and American Rheinmetall will compete for a lucrative military contract

Originally dubbed the ‘Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle,’ the XM30 will be a tracked vehicle with anti-tank capabilities much like the Bradley, but is expected to feature a hybrid electric engine and have some autonomous systems, the Army has said.

While a similar competition to replace the Bradley was held in 2019, the Pentagon was forced to scrap its plans after receiving only one bid. It later launched another effort, with five firms submitting bids, including the manufacturer of the Bradley, Britain’s BAE Systems.

The military hoped to choose three companies for the detailed design and prototyping phase of development, but Doug Bush, the Army’s assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology, explained that officials wanted to ensure they had enough resources to keep the program afloat.

“We now have information we didn’t have before, including the bids themselves, which informed us about the overall resources required by the program,” he told reporters on Monday.

The equipment made by GDLS includes the M1 Abrams main battle tank and the Stryker wheeled armored vehicle. Rheinmetall, which is based in Germany, designed the Leopard tank, many of which have been donated to Ukraine by several NATO members.

The Bradley Fighting Vehicle has made headlines in recent months after the White House agreed to supply the weapon to Ukrainian troops, part of more than $40 billion in direct military aid to Kiev since the conflict with Russia erupted last year.

According to the New York Times, at least 17 of the 113 Bradleys provided have already been damaged or destroyed by Russian forces, or about 15% of the total.

It will also be required to have glory holes, a tampon dispenser, diversity wires and sissy seats.
