Haley returned to her hotel room Saturday after a day of campaigning in Iowa to a bird cage and a bag of bird food that says it was from the Trump campaign.

I’m sick of it. My daughter’s school in Adelaide had teachers coming in and giving students Yes stickers saying their parents had a moral obligation to vote Yes. I pay 30K a year for a balanced education for my daughter who with her classmates, was silenced in seeking discussion of the debate. Pemwoke teachers please remember parents who pay your wages want education for their children not indoctrination!

And, as an activist party with substantial control of the Parliament, without any fiscal responsibility, with hopes of boosting their base, and an eye on the disruptive effects of Indigenous self-determination on minerals, energy, and agriculture – they shirley will try to do just that.

Of course, Faustus.

Like all totalitarians, they care not a jot for the majority. Greedy for power they will jackboot our faces in a heartbeat.

And laugh and point as they do it.

If Trump is where he is nationally, he’s only going to be doing better than usual in the battleground states. If Trump beat Clinton in Michigan with a Clinton +2.1 nationally, what’s he going to do with a Trump +1?

I don’t think it matters much at this stage, because Newsom will be the nominee. And I know you think he doesn’t have much of a chance because of where he’s from, but conventional wisdom used to be that a north Easterner would never be president, and then Trump came along. If Newsom is the nominee, a lot changes. The age issue will be quickly reversed by the MSM.

If you want to know where Albo went wrong, just ask the: https://www.indigenousjustice.gov.au/resource-author/expert-panel-on-constitutional-recognition-of-indigenous-australians/ who made these recommendations about any referendum on indigenous recognition:

a. In the interests of simplicity, there should be a single referendum question in relation to the package of proposals on constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples set out in the draft Bill (Chapter 11).

b. Before making a decision to proceed to a referendum, the Government should consult with the Opposition, the Greens and the independent members of Parliament, and with State and Territory governments and oppositions, in relation to the timing of the referendum and the content of the proposals.

c. The referendum should only proceed when it is likely to be supported by all major political parties, and a majority of State governments.

d. The referendum should not be held at the same time as a referendum on constitutional recognition of local government.

e. Before the referendum is held, there should be a properly resourced public education and awareness program. If necessary, legislative change should occur to allow adequate funding of such a program.

So, Elbow failed to follow 4/5 recommendations of the indigenous panel, where 1/5 recommendation was irrelevant!!! (Has anyone picked this up at all???)

Woman admits to kicking, biting police after passing out at Merredin bar
Tegan Guthrie
Kalgoorlie Miner
Mon, 2 October 2023 2:00PM

A woman annoyed that she was being kicked out of a pub after drunkenly falling asleep at the bar abused a patron before kicking and biting police officers as they tried to restrain her.

Michelle-Christine Margaret Wood, 31, admitted to her drunken spate of offending which started when, at 10pm on July 15 at the Commercial Hotel in Merredin, she was woken by staff trying to remove her from the pub after she passed out at the bar.

The court was told Wood immediately became hostile and targeted another patron, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and shouting profanities at him.

When police arrived in a car out the front of the pub, Wood threw her jumper in the face of an officer while calling them “c….” as family and friends tried to hold her back.

One officer who tried to calm her down was kicked in the abdomen with significant force, causing her to lose balance.

Police then placed Wood under arrest and attempted to escort her to the police vehicle, however, Wood obstructed the officers by grabbing their vests and dropping her body weight to the ground.

Once officers got her to the vehicle, Wood continued to obstruct officers, using her arms and legs to prevent them from placing her in the rear of the car.

Wood then bit one of the officers on the hand three times and hit another in the right eye.

Wood pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting a public officer and single counts of disorderly behaviour in public and obstructing public officers and was sentenced in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Defence lawyer Will Reid told the court Wood had been drinking heavily due to one of her daughter’s medical emergencies, as well as unresolved grief after the death of the father of her children two months before.

Mr Reid told the court Wood had written a letter to the officers apologising for her behaviour, and was seeking alcohol and grief counselling.

Who says life is dull in rural Western Australia?

Last decent poll done in Michigan by Emerson has Biden and Trump tied.

How is that a good poll? They’ll cheat if it’s that close and in any event Trump should be 30 points ahead in that state. The dems want to want to rub out ICE cars causing thousands of job loss and even then Trump is neck and neck with the crook. Really, that’s a terrible poll.

Makes me even more worried that two or more of them can get humiliated by a woman, three sheets to the wind.

Whatever you say about Biden, the only thing probably still propping him up in the White House is his polling compared with the alternative Dem candidates.

But that always happens with a new candidate. If they run an honest primary, it may not be Oldsom, but of course they’ll rig it so it is. Dover, they have to clear the deck of the crook and the hyena. He may not even make it to the next election and then what; the laughing hyena? I reckon he’s gone by January.

Hell, just looked on our valley Facebook to see that residents were hearing fire sirens. We are in Sydney, so went straight on “Fires Near Me” to find a grass fire had started on a property immediately to the north of us.

I started packing to drive up straight away while husband phoned our local Fire Captain. Understandably, he was busy. Rang his offsider to find that the fire had started a couple of hours ago & was promptly attended to by our brigade & a helicopter that was summoned. The fire has been extinguished, the guys have left, except for one who will stay overnight.

This is the stuff of nightmares. Neighbours have been predicting grass fires this season, but I didn’t expect to hear of one so soon. We have been slack & hadn’t got our 1,000l water tank on our trailer. We will now.

Wonder how it started. A hobby farm nearby had visitors with trail bikes over the weekend before we left for Sydney. Although I doubt if they would have trespassed on the big station where it started.

I agree and disagree with you about what to do, there’s the argument that you join a local branch of say, the Liberals or the Nationals, and then you agitate from there. The problem with this solution is that party members are always being overruled and overridden by party apparatchiks such as Photios and others. Then there’s the argument that you create new parties. Well, we’ve seen how that works out, the failure rate is high, look at the recent example of the Oz Conservatives, the Oz Democrats, and we saw how UAP and One Nation struggled last year. Perhaps a conservative should adopt the Holmes a Court model….and just focus on particular electorates.

I don’t know. As at today, I incline towards joining an established party and then agitating for change from below.

Then, because the SFLs don’t actually believe in anything, Trumble (who had been rejected for ALP membership) was allowed to overturn the will of the voters in 2015.

That treachery has taken eight years to heal.

The same treachery will happen again unless the SFLs figure out what they actually believe in.

Do you say its healed?

I voted Labor that election, and generally think hard before letting my preference drift to the Liberals. Personally, I no longer have membership; volunteer for HTV cards or letterboxing; donate; or believe that voting Liberal might protect the country from bad management.
The last Liberal government convinced me that they are weasels without a single principle. Only individuals like Hastie might not subscribe to their only value being opportunists and looters the same as the Liars.

Hopefully someone is slipping copious quantities of the inhibitors into Trump’s Big Macs.

How far on the spectrum are you? Serious question.

Spectrum What Spectrum? It was at 3.00am this morning that I sent an email to a friend who has written extensively on ASD and pointed out to him a study which found that ASD is a whole body condition. He replied he has been arguing that for years. I know down to the molecule why the study makes sense. My friend thinks I’m an Aspie and also asked me to join a group for the extremely profoundly gifted. I’m not Aspie and I don’t join groups. Why did you even ask, you don’t even know about the TH17 autoimmune inflammatory socialisation issue?

Trump is already prodromal for MCI, he was reckless with the documents, should shut up, and is having temperament issues. He needs to lose weight, exercise, eat right, take lithium, choline, carnitine, possibly ALA, definitely DHA, Mg, and use nicotine patches because his Maynert nucleus, unlike Biden’s, is still churning out enough Ach. That might delay the inevitable.

Now excuse me, my ANNO island keeps going broke and I have to find out why.

They cheated in ’16, it’s why they closed the recount down ordered by Jill Stein. Look, all this ‘they’ll cheat anyway’ stuff undercuts any argument re switching to Newsom. If they’ll game the election what does it matter who runs anyway.

Dover, because the chances of the crook actually dying between now and the election is not something to sniff at. And then there would be the problem of the laughing hyena holding the fort. The chances of the crook dying or being totally incapacitated by the end of the next term is 100%

Something for the “I never asked and don’t care” file for august Cats:
The main reason I don’t comment often is that, even before the recent changes to the site’s WordPress coding, the effective memory of the OT is rather equivalent to that of a malnourished, dementing 80 year old’s.
This is of course worsened by more frequent new OTs and fewer posts per page. The result is the same item, topic, issue being reported more than once, even within the same thread.
Somewhat frustrating, if one puts time and effort in crafting a suitably informative post.
I have no solution to this, but maybe an improved search function might help in reviewing context and expand the information quantum of related historical Cat topics.

End of whinge, now to the point:

Eating fewer calories can ward off ageing

And various existing medicines may offer similar benefits

This was common knowledge in the 1970s, even earlier.
It really does appear that “modern” research has ceased producing any new information, just recycling the same old crap, to fill pixels and column-inches for a dumber, more ignorant population that learnt nothing of value at school/Uni in the last 50 years.
Just Google “Ed Witten, String Theory” for an example of the sclerosis in physics in the last 30+ years, also reflected in other basic sciences.
A real tragedy.

Back to calories and longevity:
Firstly, experiments in mice almost NEVER translate to humans.
Secondly, what these geniuses ignore is the greater importance of quality of life vs longevity.
Imagine experiencing partial starvation for 30 years, in order to live another 3.
Now imagine being stupid enough to think this is a reasonable trade-off.

A pity really, that filling up with petrol doesn’t give much time to view this entertainment:

Marshals have been brought in to police ‘charge rage’ between drivers of electric vehicles at motorway service stations.

The boss of Britain’s largest motorway service provider said long waits for plug-in points made drivers ‘very angry and stressed’.

Moto chief executive Ken McMeikan warned the UK’s motorway service stations are facing growing ‘public disorder’ due to a lack of grid connections preventing him from installing enough car chargers to meet the surge in demand.

He said many motorists are facing long waits, with angry drivers confronting staff and each other and warned of the growing risk of ‘charge rage’ on Britain’s motorways.

Drivers in the United States have already been involved in heated disputes as they compete over a shortage of electrical points – dubbed ‘charge rage’ by US media. The term refers to the frustration and anger experienced by electric car drivers when they are unable to find a charging point.

Cassie, as you mentioned above I tried a different party after a lifetime of voting Lib. In my case I tried Australian Conservatives only to see Cory Bernardi wind up the party after one election. I suppose he had no choice when he didn’t even get a single senator elected. I’m in Chris Bowen’s electorate so my options are really limited.

At least my state member is Tanya Davies who did much better in the last election than the one before while many other Lib electorates lost votes this year. I chalk this up to how the state and federal electorates are drawn. Badgerys Creek electorate does not include Fairfield Council whereas federal electorate of McMahon does which changes the whole voting pattern as Shatterzzz well knows. The McMahon boundaries make no sense except to neutralise parts of Penrith Council which leans Liberal. I hate gerrymandering.

The Qld branch of the SFLs doesn’t just allow you to join.

You must be sponsored into the party, have solid references, before they’ll bother to even consider you.
If you’re admitted, it is on a parallel membership with no voting or speaking rights.
You have to, for three full years, exhibit “sound” political behaviour, before you’re allowed any input, which can happen only after you’ve been admitted to “full” membership.

I don’t know what the solution is. Minor parties simply struggle to gain traction in a political system like ours (with preferential voting) or in the UK with first past the post. Minor parties can have some traction in a system like NZ or Israel. I quite like the Israeli system, there’s a lot more political upheaval and horse trading but quite frankly I don’t mind that.

I am in WA and have just been to vote. I am in the Curtin electorate and there was only one entrance, exactly as it should be. A polling station should not have separate entrances for Yes and No, that goes against the whole purpose of a secret ballot and that polling station should be reported to the AEC. It sounds as though someone is trying to cause further division among voters. Personally, if that was the polling station I was at I would have joined the Yes queue and sailed right on in and voted No!

My late husband and his sisters disagreed about their father’s treatment when doctors suggested he should stop drinking wine, which he greatly enjoyed, when he was diagnosed with heart problems.

It was standard medical advice, until early 2010s, to encourage moderate red wine intake to reduce platelet aggregation, thus reducing the risk of thrombo-embolism. The phenols it contains act as effective anti-oxidants, also good for endothelial function.
As the COVID clusterf@ck has amply shown, slabs of medical knowledge is devolving.. see statins, cholesterol, anti-hypertensives etc..
The conforming, thought-bubbled charlatans are now winning.

My husband defied the advice and still brought him wine explaining that at age 80 he was entitled to any enjoyment he wished.

Mason Nguyen, 26, was granted conditional bail on Sunday, after police allegedly caught him with 491 MDMA pills, cash and four grams of cocaine at Knockout Festival on Saturday night.

“The granting of bail by the courts in relation to a male allegedly with 500 pills is just another example of how our court system is out of touch,” Mr Morton [the NSW cop union bloke] said.

He also defended the use of drug dogs and other detection methods used by police at festivals, following the death of two men who attended Knockout Festival.

NSW judges, part II (the Tele again):

A man arrested over the stabbing death of his mother at Bankstown was granted bail by a court a day earlier after he allegedly tried to choke her.

Katherine Safranko, 61, was found unconscious in the backyard of her Wattle St home on Sunday night suffering horrific head injuries, and died at the scene.

Emergency crews had been called to the home after reports of a fire inside the property, when they discovered the critically injured woman.

Police said Mrs Safranko’s son Troy Safranko, 31, was located in the driveway of the neighbour’s home, allegedly wielding a knife.

And:

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Safranko appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentionally choking a person, after an alleged altercation earlier that day with his mother.

Safranko was granted bail with strict conditions, and due to reappear in court on October 18.

And:

An apprehended violence order was also taken out in protection of Mrs Safranko, banning her son from going within 100m of her home or workplace.

Mrs Safranko died less than 18-hours later.

Off you go, you scamp.

Voters, maybe, but donors would like the blancmange that is Harris.

Why? Doesn’t she poll worse than the crook?
She embarrasses them too.

Why do you think that?

Rukshan:

Why did the Yes23 campaign intentionally design their signs for placement outside voting centers using almost the same colors and branding as the AEC?

The Australian Electoral Commission didn’t appear particularly interested in addressing the concerns raised by early voters regarding the Yes23 campaign signs matching the AEC’s brand colors on X. It was only after these posts were widely shared, and some members of the public began to point out the AEC’s own materials and warnings regarding the use of similar branding, that they issued a statement saying they had contacted the Yes23 campaign to rectify the misleading material.

Some people have expressed the opinion that the AEC’s commitment to ensuring integrity appears to be one-sided and potentially clouded by political bias.

Yes Campaign caught using AEC colors and branding

That Wong chap’s about to ‘marry’ an ex-Vicpol jack turned handpatter academic.

I have heard it said that she was very much on one bus (and apparently well worth a run), then got her heart busted up when some bloke ghosted her and then jumped hard onto the other bus. In the traditional fashion.

Never say you don’t get the news here.
