Doesn’t the UN just distribute everything via the Hamas controlled network anyway?

There are multiple layers of baksheesh between that UN warehouse and the people who finally put that bag of rice on their dinner table.

Huge mistake apart from the terrible taste.

$1.4 Billion Black Sea mansion

Putin is rumored to be the owner of a beautiful 190,000 square-foot mansion sitting atop a cliff that overlooks the Black Sea. This coastal property is reputed as the largest private residence in the country and serves as his private palace endearingly called “Putin’s Country Cottage”.

The estate is Putin’s playland, boasting frescoed ceilings, a marble swimming pool lined with statues of Greek gods, a 27,000 square-foot guest house, spas with traditional hammams, a musical parlor, dressing rooms for all his staff, an amphitheater, a state-of-the-art ice hockey rink, a Vegas-style casino, a nightclub equipped with stripper poles, a barroom showcasing more than $100,000 of wine and spirits, an underground tasting room overlooking the water, and much more.

Most of the mansion is reportedly decorated by an exclusive luxury Italian brand called Citterio Atena including Louis XIV style sofas, $500,000 in dining room furniture, and a $54,000 bar table. It even has decked-out bathrooms with fancy $850 Italian toilet brushes and $1,250 toilet paper holders.

On top of all the extravagant furnishings, an annual $2 million is spent just to maintain the property’s landscaping by a 40-person staff.

The Black Sea Mansion was designed by Italian architect Lanfranco Cirillo and cost $1.4 billion to construct. According to a Reuters investigation, the money for this extravagant project was supposedly laundered through the country’s 1.3-trillion-ruble national project called “Health” in which the state bought expensive medical equipment from a company owned by Putin’s friends Shamalov and Gorelov at a much higher rate than the market price. Records show that the two men sent around $56 million to Swiss bank accounts of a Belize company. Then the Belize account transferred approximately $48 million to an account controlled by Medea Investment- a company controlled by Cirillo himself. Moscow Times reports that Shamalov, Gorelov, and Cirillo denied all allegations.

The Kremlin denies Putin’s ownership of the palace saying it belongs to a wealthy businessman. But Russian analysts call it a blatant lie, saying that no businessman can have properties guarded by the FSB (Russia’s federal security service) with a no-fly zone over it.

Italian bathroom fittings are the worst. He should never have fitted out the “country cottage” with Italian bathroom crap . You literally can’t take a dump or a slash without them breaking down and having to call plumber.. English or American fittings are the best.

I don’t know how Putin was talked into it.

Oh, for Lord’s sake, surely you read the piece. It talks about Zelensky’s tax evasion behavior (and helping his pals) before he took office. 80% of the top 5% in Europe had or have offshore accounts. What do you think private Swiss banks are there for?

Moving money around and evading taxes, if that’s what he did, is not the same thing as what Putin has done, which is get on the take and steal an estimated US$200 billion since he’s been president for life. The AEC has today invited members of the public to submit written suggestions about the redistribution of federal electoral divisions

Prior to the Luigi election i got “redistributed” by the AEC into another electorate .. last house in their nw corner (next door didn’t get moved!) .. So out of McMahon and into Fowler .. not really a”biggie” as rep goes when you live out here in the Labor heartland (even tho “independent” Dai Le, who is still listed as a Fairfield councillor on, regular FCC bumff won Fowler) …
Reality is I live close to Fairfield (McMahon) and do most of my “business” in Fairfield .. the only time I get to Liverpool (Fowler) is passing thru on my bike riding ..
I realise that lotza folk probably live far from the heart of their electorates but as to why, after 30 years, I’m the only one in a street of 40 houses that was moved .. maybe the fact my property is classified in one suburb but my postal address is in another depending on which “authority” comes calling ….
2 weeks ago i voted in the referendum .. the polling station is 5 minutes walk from my place .. I was directed to the “out of area” queue after they couldn’t find my name on the “local” list …..

Credence isn’t veracity. Whether or not something is true will have nothing to do with whether the its reported in the mainstream press or on Twitter. Credence will be established by their reliability over time.

Thanks for making my point. Relying on an anon Twitter troll only while giving a short shrift to MSM trolls shows bias and cognitive dissonance, especially in saying that because I criticized both, my comment was silly. Both are unreliable.

Of course you can prevent leaks in the short term. The reports of serious injuries where sourced from Telegram and then repeated on Twitter. If they are right or wrong we’ll find out in the coming weeks or months just as we did on other occasions.

Of course, it’s possible that water could naturally flow against gravity, but it’s highly unlikely. It’s been about 72 hours since Twitter stories were reported about numerous American casualties. Any back-up?

There are photos on Twitter/ Telegram of larges fires and attacks at multiple US bases in Syria and Iraq. They’re not hard to find.

Sure. We were told the Israelis destroyed a hospital, killing 200 million Gazans. We later found out it was a parking lot, and Hamarse did it to themselves.

It’s certainly possible but why imagine that their position is always optimal? It is just common sense that there are real strains on the armaments and munitions side currently and counting on them having a secret stash is reckless.

It’s never just “possible” in your reports; there’s certitude from anonymous Twitter accounts.

Why would China need to protect those sea lanes if it simply remained neutral? Russia gains from any disruption of oil supply from the ME without doing anything because its stock becomes even more valuable and the sanctions regime even less sustainable.

You said certain countries are carefully watching for American weakness to show up. Who are these countries or places? Name them, and leave Iran out for the moment.

One other thing. You claimed Russia has won against Ukraine. Russia has been pushed well back and Putin’s objectives have been far from met. Before this war, Russia was considered a superpower rival and it would be a sleep walk taking over what essentially is a farming country with a population 1/3 the size. How is this any sort of victory for a superpower or should I say ex super power? It’s actually embarrassing.

From The Oz…

Six of Australia’s former prime ministers have signed a joint statement condemning Hamas and calling for protection of Gaza’s civilians.

Former prime ministers John Howard, Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott, Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison signed on to the open letter, organised by the Zionist Federation of Australia, while Paul Keating declined.

They rallied behind a two-state solution and quoted the 34th Psalm to “seek peace and pursue it”.

The statement urges Israel to protect the civilian population of Gaza “with all its humanity and skill” as it had “promised it will do”.

The letter says “there is no more tenaciously evil race hatred than anti-Semitism”.

It says “our Australian Jewish community, directly affected by the terrible crimes of Hamas, not only has to endure the loss and suffering of their families in Israel, but now sees these events being used by some to spread ancient hatreds which have inflicted so much suffering on the Jewish people for thousands of years.

“No complaint or concern about international affairs justifies hate speech against any Australian, or any Australian community.

“We believe we speak for the vast majority of Australians, of all faiths and of none, when we say we stand in solidarity with Jewish Australians at this time.

“Likewise, we stand too with the Australian Palestinian community whose families are dying and suffering in this terrible conflict. They too deserve our love and support.

“Our nation’s success depends on us not allowing conflict overseas to turn Australians against each other.”

The former prime ministers, Labor and Liberal, condemned the “cruel and murderous attack on Israeli families” by Hamas on October 7 and called for the unconditional release of the hostages taken by Hamas.

Well, the two state solution is now officially dead, but good on Howard, Rudd, Abbott, Turdbull and Morrison.

As for Keating, he probably consulted his good buddy, Cockroach Carr, but then again, don’t forget this, the Keating family have long liked the company of unsavoury and unseemly, even pedos. Just ask Katherine Keating, oh and didn’t the MSM go quiet on that “association”.

If you’re going to choose the most incompetent Australian PM, you have to have criteria. For example:

Deceitfulness
Incompetence
Sabotage of the Aussie dream

I haven’t put egotistical bastard in there as that goes with the job.

So I would go:

Rudd: Deceitfulness 10/10; Incompetence 9/10; Sabotage of the Aussie dream 10/10
Turnbull: Deceitfulness 10/10; Incompetence 8/10; Sabotage of the Aussie dream 9/10
Gillard: Deceitfulness 8/10; Incompetence 8/10; Sabotage of the Aussie dream 8/10
Morrison: Deceitfulness 6/10; Incompetence 8/10; Sabotage of the Aussie dream 8/10

Now how does Blackrock own half of Ukraine now

Blackrock doesn’t own half or anything of Ukraine. Its does however own major shareholdings in the 3 biggest defence contractor beneficiaries in the Ukraine conflict, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.

And Blackrock has enormous influence with Biden’s administration.

So it’s no understatement to point out that BlackRock has strong ties to Washington, D.C., and the firm now has a profound influence on the Biden administration. The question is: is this influence good or bad for Wall Street? Well, the answer to that question depends on which corner of Wall Street you’re standing on.

Its the same evil that was there for decades, Cassie. It was implicit in the voteherd-importing policies of progressives here and the UK and the USA. Its the same evil that universities were fostering all along in post-modernism and identity studies; the same evil that the ABC of the Green-Left and CBC and BBC foster with their political bias.
That same evil is flowering, its explicit and open.

A lot of this is just Western cope following a group of goat herders sending off the US in 2021 in ignominy.

You appear to get a lot of gratification with this, don’t you? FMD, you hate America.

Approximately 2,500 U.S. troops were in Afghanistan when President Biden took office in January 2021.

And it is the same number that departed when Hiden ignominiously gave the order. Compare that to what the Russian mustered against Ukraine. 2500 American troops kept the Taliban on the back foot. And you’re using this as some of sort of apt comparison in defending Russia. Is this a joke?

But the thing that really makes me laugh is that the people who ostensibly are pro-Ukraine see the need to diminish Ukraine in order to talk smack about Russia.

Oh Yeah, We’re forgetting Ukraine’s industrial might.

Apparently, a country roughly 1 and half times the pop. of Australia that has several nuclear power stations, builds jet engines, etc. is ‘essentially a farming community.’

What does comparing Australia have to do with the price of Halal Kebabs? The comparison and the only comparison is the two countries at war. Bringing Australia into this discussion is, should I say “silly”.

Apparently, a country roughly 1 and half times the pop. of Australia that has several nuclear power stations, builds jet engines, etc. is ‘essentially a farming community.’

The power stations are residual from the Soviet era. It’s main industry in order of importance was farming and mining related. It’s not exactly Silicon valley and Southern Germany.

But of course, Ukraine was considered as powerful and Putin’s Russia before the war.:-)

Ironically, it should be now. 🙂

Step 1 in slowing the current colonisation of the modern West by the Third World.

Make it clear to both new arrivals and current residents that they must move out of their ghettoes (I hope Cassie will pardon my use of this word) and participate in wider society. If they are unwilling to do so, then visas of non-citizens must be revoked, and citizens must be informed that no more of their family will receive visas.

Step 2, remove the opportunity for dual citizenship from new arrivals, and discourage it among those already living here.

Step 3, remove the ability of educational institutions to operate as visa factories. A student visa should be valid only for the normal duration of a specific course, those seeking extensions must apply again. At the completion of the course, students must return to their country of origin, and can apply for a resident visa from there, after a waiting period equal to the actual duration of their course.

I’ll comment on the Quisling problem later.

Political speak: when reality is too messy to acknowledge, talk in abstractions.

There are reportedly c. 7000 ‘Palestinians’ resident in Australia, most of whom would have travelled here on Jordanian passports issued temporarily for that purpose.

They would have been issued with a visa by Australia in order to enter the country.

To imagine that they have all left ancient hatreds behind upon being given an opportunity to start a new life in this country is something only an inebriated wombat could believe.

Further to anti-crime rally attendees being mocked by the Labor MP in Townsville (the CM):

Townsville youth crime victim, Karl Boevink, has slammed Queensland Labor MP Aaron Harper for his dismissive comments regarding attendees at a youth crime rally.

The comments made on the Today Show come less than a week after Mr Boevink was struck by three teenagers in a stolen ute.

Mr Boevink, 27, who was hospitalised due to the incident, braved his injuries and attended the rally held at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Sunday while Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her ministers were attending a community cabinet meeting at the venue.

Ms Palaszczuk did not attend the rally and instead sent Labor backbencher Aaron Harper as her representative to face the crowd.

Mr Harper referred to the 150-strong assembly as “bloody LNPs” and an “old rent-a-crowd”.

Nice, Mr Harper. Reeeal nice.

“I would have stood up broken leg and all to testify against that, especially for somebody that went through what I went through,” Mr Boevink told The Today Show’s Karl Stefanovic.

“(Calling us rent-a-crowd) now, that is completely disrespectful, and wrong.”

I would be particularly interested to hear Harper’s response.

The idea of a “collective” is in your head.

I know I’m right about MB being GMB as Gabor pointed it out as well (and Tom). A couple of weeks before “MB” turns up, GMB posts a couple of times on his own largely defunct blog. Hmmm.

I’m 99% sure I’m right about the person pushing the idea MB is legit being a “sleeper” sock puppet (ask rosie).

Bird has been pestering various incarnations of this site for 18+ years now and there has been a lot of attached drama that Sinclair had to deal with from a third-party lunatic who latched onto GMB. Her sister even posted on the forum apologising. Yes, this nonsense actually got serious.

Nonsense as in silly. Farming and mining comprising the bulk of the economy.

It really doesn’t matter if the power stations, roads, what have you, are ‘residual’ or the industry and tech are not world leading, what matters is that it isn’t ‘essentially a farming community’.

Sydney (Tanya Plebersuck’s Electorate) voted over 70% YES as well.

Oops, correct, thick fingers on my part.

The point remains: the ‘Yes electorates’ are characterised by either a Labor or Green sitting member and a Green or Labor second preference candidate. You see this in both the super Yes electorates and 50%+ Yes electorates.

Wherever and whenever the ‘contest of ideas’ is between Labor and the Greens the preferred outcome is a shit sandwich for the rest of Australia.

And that contest spills most strongly into the national discussion from ideas held widely in inner Sydney, Melbourne and Canbra.

eg: Proud/251, Viet/Oz, Sudanese/Oz, China’Oz … the list is,almost, never-ending when it fitz the agenda except, of course, the various varieties of “white” Oz .. we never seems to get USA/Oz, Pommie/Oz, Scots/Oz ect or that real rarity .. Oz/Oz ……..!

That’s why when i gave up my Oz citizenship, i could have become a dual national but didn’t see the point.

Trump was largely hostage to the Regime.

In some respects and in other ways he wasn’t. Trump had full authority to hire and fire any person in the US federal government. He should’ve.

I never said I picked this in the naughties. In fact, I’ve said the opposite, that the revelations of the last half decade have been eye-opening for me.

Institutions become ossified and broken. Have a little hope that the US can renew itself as it always has in the past. Wait for the 24 election now, before you throw the baby out with the dirty diaper.

You don’t easily overwhelm an opponent when you’re on the back foot, JC.

Dover, you’re taking the last days and extending it out for all the period when the troop numbers were around 2,500. They were mostly that number before Hiden and during theTrump era. I would say around 2500 troops keeping the Taliban down is pretty good going. The fact that Afghans couldn’t hold it together.. well that’s their problem.

‘Airbus Albo is sticking’: Ben Fordham says Anthony Albanese is ‘spending too much time’ on overseas trips and losing touch with everyday Aussies

The radio host called on the Prime Minister to “read the room” after revealing the scope of his international travel.

Radio host Ben Fordham has taken aim at Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s travel itinerary, accusing him of spending an excessive amount of time overseas and neglecting the issues affecting everyday Australians.

Speaking on his 2GB breakfast show on Monday morning, Fordham said the Prime Minister needed to “read the room right now” over his frequent trips out of the country.

“There is a growing belief that Anthony Albanese is spending too much time out of the country,” Fordham said.

“He’s just returned from the USA today after important talks with President Joe Biden, and later this week he’s off to China.

“The nickname Airbus Albo is sticking.”

Fordham then rattled off a list of places the Prime Minister has visited since taking office last May.

Mr Albanese has jetted to Japan three times, while he’s been to Indonesia, India and London twice each.

He’s also flown to the United Arab Emirates, Paris, Ukraine, Fiji, Cambodia, Bali, Thailand, Port Moresby, San Diego, Singapore, Vietnam, Lithuania, Germany, New Zealand, the Philippines and Washington during his 18-month tenure as PM.

The Prime Minister has reportedly nicknamed his plane, officially registered as A39-007, Toto One in honour of his pet pooch.

“Well Toto One is getting quite a workout,” Fordham said.

Fordham credited Mr Albanese for repairing relationships in the Pacific and with China, adding the PM wasn’t “on some kind of Contiki tour.”

“But Australian voters are tough markers, and they’re taking a close look right now at Anthony Albanese,” the radio host said.

“The perception is, he’s taken his eyes off the biggest issue impacting everyday families.

“If you’re spending half your life on a plane, you may not be hearing them.”

Chanticleer

Qantas has made its ‘ghost flights’ defence. Now it should settle

The company that calls itself the Spirit of Australia would be best to show it believes in the spirit of consumer law, not the letter of it.

Outgoing Qantas chairman Richard Goyder has always rejected the idea that the airline was guilty of a banking industry-style, fee-for-no-service rort after the competition watchdog accused it of selling fares on 8000 flights it already knew it had cancelled.

Qantas’ formal response to the Federal Court case helps explain Goyder’s resolve.

While Qantas acknowledges this mess was not its finest hour, it is determined to make a key point “in purely legal terms” – a phrase that immediately sets off alarm bells for Chanticleer and any crisis-management expert – by arguing the ACCC has ignored what really happens when an airline sells a ticket.

As the watchdog itself notes, the inherent unpredictability of aviation means customers shouldn’t assume a plane will meet its exact schedule, and instead “airlines must meet the consumer guarantee of providing the service within a reasonable time”.

Qantas says it did just this. Passengers received a full refund or were rebooked as close as possible to their original time of flying; 100 per cent of domestic travellers were offered same-day flights departing prior to or within one hour after their scheduled departure time, while 98 per cent of international passengers were offered options on flights within a day of their scheduled departure.

Qantas concedes it made mistakes and has disappointed customers. It says its systems were not up to scratch and, in some cases, neither were its humans.

But it says it did what it did to help customers.

The state of Qantas’ systems means automatically cancelling swaths of flights would have triggered a messy, massive rebooking event, which would have melted down already-drowned call centres and made customers even angrier.

The result was messy, but the airline insists that it did not do any of this for financial gain. And it most definitely did not take fees for no service.

Walking a fine line

But there’s a big problem here: filing a defence in the Federal Court will likely do very little to help Qantas in the court of public opinion.

And so, having made its long-awaited defence, Goyder and Qantas chief executive Vanessa Hudson should be sitting down with ACCC chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb as soon as possible to settle this case.

There are three key reasons for this.

First, Qantas cannot afford a protracted legal dispute with the ACCC if it wants to quickly turn around its bruised reputation.

The idea that the airline would want to see Goyder and Hudson in the witness box in 18 months’ time going through what the Qantas board knew, and when, is laughable. A quick settlement that acknowledges it did not handle this period well – as chaotic as it was – would surely reinforce the tone of humility that Goyder and Hudson insist has arrived.

Second, Qantas’ defence strikes a legalistic tone that should not sit well with the travelling public.

Qantas says in the concise statement attached to its Federal Court defence that the ACCC contends Qantas sells tickets to a particular flight, but what it actually sells is “a bundle of rights that includes alternative options to which consumers are entitled in respect of a cancelled flight”.

Legally, even logically, the argument makes sense – stuff happens in aviation (safety concerns or air traffic control matters or weather) and Qantas can’t guarantee flight times. But how hard does the airline want to push the idea that it doesn’t sell airfares or tickets, but ‘bundle of rights’?

Third, drawing a legal line in the sand won’t absolve Qantas for its mishandling of this mass cancellation event.

The fact it says it no longer leaves cancelled flights on sale, even for 48 hours, says it acknowledges it got its approach wrong.

The fact that it is now manually taking cancelled flights off sale further suggests its systems were not up to scratch.

Qantas might say COVID-19 omicron events are unusual, but history disagrees;

it has previously managed through volcanic ash clouds, epidemics such as SARS and bird flu, and even its own decision to ground its fleet during an industrial dispute.

Qantas is walking a fine line with its Federal Court defence. It has made its point, and it should move on quickly with a proportional settlement.

The company that calls itself the Spirit of Australia would be best to show it believes in the spirit of consumer law, not the letter of it.

you bunch of paranoid clowns

MB sounds a bit bird-ish I’ll grant you that
but maybe he is.
and maybe he isn’t

my point is that if you clowns didn’t collectively and repeatedly stoop so low in your idiotic ever widening search for the unknowable,
that this joint would be a far better place.

DOT has had more interaction with GMB than myself but my brief encounter with him last night suggests he is not GMB.

MB stated Crick had no idea about the implications of his work. Crick wrote the Central Dogma of Biology. It is wrong but for decades was widely accepted.

MB confused Koch with Kepler, which makes no sense at all.

GMB didn’t make those types of glaring errors and in matters of science and just about everything else he could not resist putting forward his theory as being superior. By Bird’s own admission he has ADHD and ODD often goes with that condition. GMB consistently demonstrates some characteristics of Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

MB responses to me were light and polite. GMB was rarely like that, often obtuse and condescending. No evidence of ODD and AFAIK ODD can’t be medicated away.

The whole tenor of his responses was completely different. I didn’t read his other comments so perhaps there are clues there. I will not waste my time back reading.
