Predators seldom choose prey they perceive as bigger, faster, or more capable of inflicting physical damage than them. This applies to both the animal and human world.
A predator also wants to expend the least amount of energy to hunt and kill their prey, lest they be required to escape from a larger predator (if one exists) that wants what they have (food).

The unfortunate long-term consequence of the Lehrman-Higgins case, is that it may have the opposite of an ‘encouragement’ affect on those who have genuinely* been the victim of sexual abuse, but who may fear the potential public/mediascum attention, particularly if there are well-known personalities involved. (But only if the personality is an ‘outsider’ and therefore fair game for reputational assassination by the unarmed state militia).

Network 10 could be out of pocket $8m after Bruce Lehrmann winAdelaide LangNCA NewsWire
Mon, 15 April 2024 4:24PM
Network 10 could be out of pocket for millions despite scoring a resounding victory in the defamation lawsuit brought by Bruce Lehrmann, a leading defamation lawyer has revealed.
On Monday, Justice Michael Lee ruled the media company had not defamed Lehrmann by airing an interview with Brittany Higgins on The Project in which she alleged she had been raped by a fellow political staffer in Parliament House during March 2019.
The justice found Lehrmann had been so “hellbent on having sex” that he “did not care one way or another whether Ms Higgins understood or agreed to what was going on”.
He ruled in favour of Network 10 and said the question of costs would be determined at a later date.
MinterEllison partner Peter Bartlett, who successfully led Nine’s defence against Ben Roberts-Smith’s defamation claims, estimated Network 10 and its former presenter Lisa Wilkinson have paid $8m to defend themselves in the defamation case brought by Lehrmann.
Despite the victory, Mr Bartlett said the media company will likely face difficulties in recouping their multimillion dollar costs from Lehrmann, who is currently unemployed.
“By all appearances, Lehrmann doesn’t have a deep pocket,” he said.
“So clearly Channel 10 will be out of pocket because they won’t be able to recover that quantum of costs from Lehrmann.”
Mr Bartlett noted Network 10 could have Lehrmann declared as bankrupt, but it would still be a challenge “to get blood out of a stone”.
“At best they’re going to be able to get a couple of hundred thousand dollars but they’re not going to be able to get much,” he surmised.
He drew parallels with the Ben Roberts-Smith defamation fight, in which Nine were able to compel media magnate Kerry Stokes to pay costs because they had funded the lawsuit.

Stabbing at a church in western Sydney.
The incident happened on Monday night just after 7pm at Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church, where Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was saying Mass.
Bishop Emmanuel can be seen speaking to the congregation before a man walks up to him and allegedly stabs him a number of times.
The young man dressed in all black can be seen approaching the altar where Bishop Emmanuel was standing before allegedly stabbing his face and body before people tried to stop him.

PA, that thought had crossed my mind fleetingly as I read the judgement. Lee certainly appeared to me to be going out on a limb with the things he claimed happehed without a skerrick of proof. The whole tawdry event of a couple of tubbies doing or not doing something is a lot of feelz. As plod said in the beginning, there’s not enough evidence and thats without the litany of lies flowing from all and sundry. Lee can say “I tried my best, its up to the appeal judge if there is an appeal”. He squibbed it. Spineless. Looking forward to the revolution.
The full judgment is tough going.
I did searches on names initially (like Wilkinson) but then reverted to reading the thing as it was published.
Lee really gives it to Sharaz, which is odd how he didn’t mention him today as a sack of shit like he did with the chap from Channel 7.
I find it curious that all the protagonists in this rightly described ‘omnishambles’ (h/t Lee J), within six months of the aforementioned notoriety being gained, all decided it was burger time.
Sharaz, Lehrmann and Higgins.
Just look at them. A pudgy, nondescript, jowly trio of nobodies.
Absolutely. Looking at some of the “before” photos of Brittany, she was quite pretty and well put together. (God that sounds sexist, but it was meant to be just an observation!)

He made an oblique reference to Sharaz when talking about Britnah’s credibility, noting that a particular thing had happened “before Sharaz was involved”, implying that post-Sharaz Britnah was less credible.
Strange that he should observe that her evidence was “malleable”, but only in the hands of one person.
His treatment of Brittany’s evidence seems generous. Which helps in a “he said she said”. Bruce’s evidence seems to have been dismissed in total.

I wonder if the stabbing of the Lebanese bishop in Wakeley near Fairfield is a copycat action.
The inference for the church stabbing is that it’s someone from the congregation but I wouldn’t be too sure, anyone can come into a church.
Seems the push is on in New South Wales to allow security guards to carry batons and pepper sprays, but not Tasers or firearms.
A class 1F security licence allows the security guy to be armed.
Presumably Armaguard guys. They would be the only civilians I have ever seen armed in public. Not minimum wage guys in flouro vests outside BWS.
Apparently bank tellers (at least some of them) were armed back in the day. Must have been before my time as I never came across any guns in my mercifully short time.
In the early 1970’s. Some longhair walked into a bank, and asked about how to send money to the Viet Cong. The bank teller – a Vietnam veteran – pointed the bank pistol at him and told him to “get out, or I’ll blow your fooking head off.”
My brother was a bank teller back in the very early 70s. He said the tellers had a handgun (revolver) in a wooden cradle below the desk, pointing out and slightly up.
I started a security company with my brother in Tassie during the 1990’s and there were two levels. A security guard could not be armed but security agents could if they made application, demonstrated a requirement and completed the requisite training.

Liverpool church stabbing. This won’t end well. Maronites are not to be messed with.
Seems I may have that wrong. Trying to find my way through the schisms. Assyrian, Nestorian and many more. But not Maronite.
The churchgoers reaction to the stabbing of the Lebanese bishop is a reminder to the police that Christians can be very unhappy about these sort of attacks and to protest in large numbers. I don’t think these particular Christians are much into turning the other cheek.
Don’t think the Bishop is Lebanese. It is the Assyrian Church of the East. Part of the Oriental Orthodox Church. The Maronites are Cats who use an Eastern Liturgy. The Orthos are still in Lent, fasting till the first Sunday in May for Easter,
Not Lebanese. Assyrian Church of the East. Part of the Oriental Orthodox Churches. Still in Lent, fasting and praying till Easter on 5th of May.
The link above has a few, interesting… items.
Evelyn Rae is commenting on the church stabbing on Sky and says that we are lucky to have a world class legal system that considers someone as innocent until proven guilty. I had to laugh at that particularly today in the aftermath of Justice Lee’s decision on Bruce Lerhmann.
I see that the police are in a bind at the church in Wakeley, the assailant is in the church with the police but they now have no way of getting him out past the crowds waiting outside.
Hand him over to the crowd for the justice they may deal out…
The political reporter from The Oz is urging social harmony on the crowds at the church. Harmony? After somebody just tried to kill their bishop? Some of these scribblers don’t quite understand the events on which they are reporting.
The should give the guy a shave and dress him in a police uniform and walk him out of the church to the cells. That blonde female inspector will sort it out quick smart.

According to reports coming from Israel and Turkey the Biden Administration provided guidance to Iran in its missile and drone strike against Israel.
Iran informed Turkey in advance of its planned operation against Israel, a Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters on Sunday, adding that Washington had conveyed to Tehran via Ankara that any action it took had to be “within certain limits.”

Providing guidance? What does it mean, if anything.
But if it means they approved of it if were to be kept to limits, who needs enemies with friends like that?
BTW I doubt if it’s true but.
Providing guidance? I’d say it’s complicity in the planning of an attack on an ally by one of its enemies.
Surely that can’t be too difficult to understand.
And considering that the Biden Administration has released some $80 Billion in funds back to Iran, it’s all too believable.

Why is there only one figure in Leak’s cartoon? The judge was quite clear that they were both liars, one organised the other disorganised.
Why one type of liar is more believable than the other is anyone’s guess.
Leak Jr is showing signs of being a little too pro the establishment and conventional thinking.
Organised implies premeditated
In Rome at the moment after 3 days in Amsterdam. Many tourists in both cities. We inadvertently visited Keukenhof which had a spectacular spring garden display(I had no idea it was the height of the tulip flowering season and the garden is world famous).
The Dutch host was up to speed on the Sydney stabbings and like many of us thought it was a Muslim maniac running amok.
Similarly in Rome the well informed concierge assumed the same and even queried why they had ruled out terrorism without knowing the motive.
We spoke to a Floridian family at the Vatican who were going to vote for Trump and saw the lawfare for what it was.
The statue of the Dying Gaul at the Capitoline Museum was magnificent, one of the great works of Western civilisation-thanks Tinta for the recommendation.
In contrast the visit to the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel was an absolute ordeal due to the crowds. We booked a small group tour in a laughable attempt to beat the queues. Little did we know that there were dozens of ‘small group tours’ mixed in with the thousands of other punters.
Even before it opened on Monday the non tour queue was a good 500m long and then there was the tour group queue joining from the other side.
It was jam packed from start to finish which meant 2 hours of shuffling past one thing after another with the guide babbling something incomprehensible in your ear and being jostled by various bipedal lifeforms some of which clearly had not being paying enough attention to matters of personal hygiene.
It weren’t like this 30 years ago I can tell you.

OK. The Oz today & the breakfast TV stations is reporting a massive incident in Sydney’s SWest. An Assyrian Christian church leader attacked by a young offender with a knife and suffered injuries. He was restrained by parishioners until po,ice arrived. But by that time huge crowds had arrived – seemingly in support of the offender as they attacked police with bricks and paling torn from neighbouring houses! Many injuries to police & their vehicles. Offender “known to police” & is said to have explained his action as having been offended by comments made re the Prophet ( not the Christian one!).
And so it begins?
Beirut sectarian violence in Sydney, nice. Maronites from my experience won’t take a backwards step. Was only a matter of time as the muslims now obviously have critical mass.
Other thing is Police own this one, the weird beard set has been allowed to hassle people for years unimpeded. Motorcade after Cronulla and repeated motorcades after Oct 8 through Jewish suburbs are 2 I can think of off the top of my head.
TV presenters are saying the violent crowds outside the Church were supporting the Church parishioners. I think they have got that wrong, but maybe I am wrong.

This is hilarious.
“Weaponry systems in Ukraine, many of which were supplied by European countries, have been rendered unworkable, not due to Russian interference, but because of damage caused by mice and other rodents. Seemingly, these creatures have developed a preference for cable insulation made of corn fiber over synthetic materials. This predilection leads to malfunctioning electrical installations, rendering the expensive equipment essentially worthless, and requiring rapid overhauling.”
Here’s the link for the full story.

Bruce, it’s that T badge on the car that looks like a thumb tack that is the important feature most EV buyers wanted. They needed to be able to signal to the rest of the drivers that they are virtuous AND well off. That’s something a Mercedes or a Maserati owner can’t claim.
That is a deadly stupidity. Even without the rodent predations aren’t these materials meant to biodegrade? It will be a case of use them quickly or lose them, not exactly a long term deterrent.
Crossie,
I believe the countries who “donated”, the bio-degradable military supplies, kept the good stuff for themselves.

The “lions den” comment, is that referring to the criminal trial. Cause I get the message that the judge is saying it was stacked deck against him and is really denying him the right to justice.

Nort often I’m unimpressed with hospitals .. but .. yesterday I had an appointment for the pre admission check before day surgery later in the month .. Turned up 10 minutes before appointment .. no other folk there .. waited 20 minutes before being called by a nurse .. 25 minutes for a heart check and go over, question by question, paperwork I filled out 3 weeks ago .. then a 30 minute wait to see an anaesthetist, who had wandered in & out of his office several times during that period .. 10 minutes to go over most of the written questions/answers I’d been thru with the nurse .. then sat down, outside, again for another 20 minutes before the nurse turned up and said, “That’s it you can go” & gave me a paper of do’s & don’ts for the 24 hrs leading up to the surgery ….. duuuuuuh! ..
I got the impression that all this waiting around was more to do with staff filling in time than anything else .. there were several nurses wandering around but in the whole time I was the onIy customer ….. nearly 2 hours for around 40 minutes activity ……
Nanna Webb says the church stabbing’s a terror-related stabbing.

I think he’s about to retire so saving the Luigi gummint’s embarrassment over Knickerless’ $millions payout will be rewarded .. I’m summizing several “jerbs fer the boyz” positions will be on offer! …… LOL!
The “lions den” comment by J Lee was that after escaping the Lion’s den you don’t go back for your hat. So J Lee thinks he is guilty and escaped the consequences in the criminal trial.
Somewhat presumptuous. Appears a little out of character given Lee’s manner during the trial which always appeared measured. Whole thing seems incongruous and unsatisfactory.
seemingly in support of the offender as they attacked police with bricks and paling torn from neighbouring houses! Many injuries to police & their vehicles.
Seems unlikely ..! .. The Islam population is centred mainly around Fairfield cbd/retail area .. the Assyrian/Maronites are from Fairfield Heights thru to Edensor Park/Waverley/Horsley Park so for the Islamists to get to the church would be anywhere from 30 to 60 mins drive, depending on traffic, well after the locals would have gathered ……
I see from the febrile reportage of Lehrmanngate that Lee J has apparently sorted out one of the great (to me, anyway) mysteries of the romantic evening in question:
No problems with the judicial concept that shaggery was front of mind, or that Bruce might be an utter cad.
But the idea that, having porked Brinny in the Minister’s office, Bruce would just bugger off home leaving her unconscious, nekkid and dribbling on the couch for someone to find suggests reckless lunacy and an inexplicable lack of self preservation. Strangely unexplored by Hizonner.
But, there we go.
It’s Canbra.
I must be young and naive.
That’s nice.
Some actual physical evidence to that guilt would be nice too.
On this basis the good judge might think the next offender is a pumpkin. And who could disabuse him of that? He appears to know everything.
Seems the closest we got was the bruise photo which mysteriously survived the “wiping” of the phone (a claim abandoned by Drumgold and anyone else who made it) before appearing in the Sharaz dossier 2 years after the event.
Forget going back for your hat. Try hanging your hat on that.
The section in the Lehrmann judgement on “Panties” is … quite brief.
That will come as a disappointment to some commenters.
Did Lee explore why Ms Higgins lied about Fiona Brown and destroyed her career? Was it the trauma made her done it? It suggests to me someone willing to lie and manipulate for their benefit… exactly what you might do to cover up the embarrassment of being found naked on your boss’s couch.
Bingo.
Reflecting on Leak’s seriously one-sided cartoon…
The case is definitely Australia’s Tar Baby. Anyone, even the magnificent Leak Jnr. is stuck in its greasy, gooey, moral morass the moment they touch it.
As for not depicting Knickerless, perhaps there was nothing there to set fire to.
The big flaw in Lehrmann’s story was the ever-changing reasons for returning to Parliament House, coupled with his over-inflated ego. One story was that he went back to make some Very Important Notes about a Very Important Conversation about French submarines (which apparently had never been discussed whilst they were on the piss).
If you need to construct an alibi, pick something totally mundane and obscure (even knock up some draft notes on Monday morning as a cover). Plead that, yes, it was silly to go back to the office for that, but you just felt the boss was going to be on your case on Monday about it.
And stick to the story.
I don’t buy Lee’s take on the complications of going back for keys as against simply going home to knock on the door. Any chap who has gone out for “two beers” and is heading home at 3:00 a.m. would rather gouge their own eyes out than wake the bride.
Once Lehrmann ran the “never happened” defence in the criminal trial he was stuck with it. Still doesn’t impact on Brittany’s evidence and credibility though.
The Iranian response was not, nor any potential Israeli counter will be, ‘theatrical’.

The armourer who loaded the gun that killed a cinematographer on the set of the Alec Baldwin movie Rust was sentenced to 18 months in prison by a US court.
Hannah Gutierrez stood impassive as a judge in the state of New Mexico told her she would serve the maximum sentence after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the October 2021 death of Halyna Hutchins during filming of the budget Western.
“You were the armourer, the one that stood between a safe weapon and a weapon that could kill someone. You alone turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon,” Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said on Monday local time.
“But for you, Miss Hutchins would be alive. A husband would have his partner and a little boy would have his mother.”
Really? The photos I saw showed her looking like shit on a stick: puffy-faced, red-eyed, hair like straw and tears streaming down her cheeks. Hardly “impassive”!

‘If he didn’t swear at my Prophet, I wouldn’t be here’Staff writers
The teenager who allegedly stabbed Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel has allegedly claimed the Bishop had “involve(d) himself in (his) religion”.
The Daily Telegraph has reported that videos of the incident show the alleged attacker speaking in Arabic.
The rough translation of what the alleged attacker said, while lying on the ground inside the Church in police custody, is: “If he didn’t swear at my Prophet I wouldn’t be here. If he didn’t involve himself in my religion I wouldn’t be here”.
The teenager allegedly stabbed Bishop Emmanuel at the Assyrian orthodox church on Welcome Street in Wakely about 7.10pm.
The 15-year-old alleged attacker remains in custody this morning and has undergone surgery.
the Russians would have given him on the spot surgery free of charge
The online world saw him stab the guy, but we didn’t hear him say that or see the surgery but only the stabbing is “alleged”. Life is getting absurd.
Decapita-lists are so driven by the Prophet motive.

Moreover, and this is an age-old problem articulated by philosophers as diverse as Plato and Heidegger – average minds are easily swayed by the cultural zeitgeist, by arguments from authority (whether from priests, politicians, ‘experts’ or celebrities), and especially by public opinion. They fall, regularly, for every contemporary trend. Look, for example, at the uncritical attitude and acceptance, from the majority, to the Covid-19 measures.
People with average intelligence are decent, kind, trustworthy, extraordinarily capable in ways that leave more intelligent people scratching their heads in admiration, not the least bit lacking in street smarts, and know implicitly what is good for themselves and their families, (especially when government policy negatively affects their wallets). What they are not, though, is particularly interested in abstract thought.
The impact of intelligence on politics and culture has become clear in recent months. People who six months ago couldn’t spell anti-Semitism are now parroting the most harebrained anti-Semitic delusions, without knowing much about Jews, Israel, Arabs, Islam or the modern history of the Middle East. In the words of Heidegger, people ‘fall’ into the ‘they’.
evil cloaks itself in the skin of fake compassion
Brilliant minds too, evidently:

So if it is an Islamist attack then get ready for the following in order: Lone wolf, mentally deranged, family completely surprised, “he was religious, kind and gentle”, local Imam ” never seen him before”.. then after shown photos of him leaving the mosque every day.. “well yes he did attend the mosque but I never spoke to him” , local Islamic council asks for more government funding to identify and help these disadvantaged youngsters, academics claim more research funding is needed, NSW Police claim more money is needed for AI to identify potential terrorists.
Never let a stabbing go to waste.

What about all the insults to Jesus and Christians in comedy routines, movies, TV shows, Mardi Gras parades? Can we react in the same way?
Ah but that different – Islamists think that is entirely OK.
And what do we think? We think it is insensitive/rude/unacceptable…..but not worthy of assault or violence of any type. And may that continue….although I would like to see some civilised “push back” viz celebration of the concepts of Christianity.

Funny…I don’t remember the referendum where we decided to import ME tribalism.
Sadly, Roger, it isn’t tribalism per se. It is straight out religious extremism.
Vicki, I’m using tribalism not in the anthropological sense but in the sociological sense, in which religious loyalty is regarded as a marker (among others) of a group identity, with all that implies.
It was called the British Empire, Roger, which Australia etc were all part of. Ever wonder how so many Maltese got to stay in Australia after WW2? They were British citizens, just the same as us Aussies. Many also arrived after WW2 to stay here from Alexandria in Egypt, British passports in hand.
I’d suggest the Lebanese Muslims & the Assyrian Christians came here in the 1970s & 80s, bruce, and they weren’t British subjects.

Down in Melbourne, and so yesterday we decided to go and check out some of the old arcades and so on in town – lovely buildings with leadlighting and so on.
About 2pm there was a lot of noise down our street. It was a demonstration preceded by police cars with flashing lights and so on. Yes, it was the Pallies on parade, complete with yelling, screaming, signs with obscenities on them – the whole mess.
Up from were 32 police all up – cars, alongside, in front etc. At the back were another 20. The idiots in the middle would have numbered no more than 300.

PM to ‘Bollard Man’: stay as long as you likeRhiannon Down
Anthony Albanese has declared a French national who fought off Bondi Junction attacker Joel Cauchi with a bollard is “welcome to stay for as long as you like”, following revelations his visa is due to expire.
Footage of French construction worker Damien Guerot brandishing a bollard at Cauchi to prevent him from climbing an escalator and potentially attacking more people, emerged on Saturday following the rampage.
“This is someone who we would welcome becoming an Australian citizen, although that would of course be a loss for France,” the Prime Minister said.
“We thank him for his extraordinary bravery.
“It says a lot about the nature of humanity at a time when we are facing difficult issues, that someone who is not a citizen of this country, stood bravely at the top of those escalators and stopped this perpetrator from getting onto another floor and potentially inflicting further carnage on citizens.
“I think that on Saturday we saw some of the best of human character at the same time as we saw such devastating tragedy.
“And I thank Damian for his extraordinary efforts.
Must be the first time I’ve agreed with Albo on anything.
Call me a cynic, but I see it as Albanese tapping into the general sentiment for a political boost.
Afte nearly 30 years in parliament he knows only too well the French chap is subject to the same visa conditions as any other visiting worker and even the Minister for Home Affairs can’t override them without legally valid reasons.
Did the Israelis think they could attack the Iranian embassy in Damascus without triggering a response? Did they think any potential response would be channeled through only Iran’s allies? Did they think that any response, if directly from Iran, would occur outside of Israel, involving black operations Israel may be a part of regionally? Did they discount the possibility of Iran directly responding on Israel proper? Is this a greater strategic error than Oct 7?
The lack of physical and forensic evidence in the Brittany case was certainly an issue. God knows what a forensic examination of that couch, even 2 years later, would have turned up. As a criminal defendant, at the time of trial Bruce would know what evidence he faced, even if he might not have done so at the time of entering a plea.
So just days after m0nty got the vapours at people suspecting the Bondi attack was Islamic, an Islamic guy stabs a bunch of Christians in their church. Geee I wonder why people jumped to conclusions.
Not just Monty.

Dunno DB. I saw Naftali on Fox last night and he said that all this fighting of proxies in Yemen, Gaza and Lebanon could go on forever. Israel needed “to strike to head of the octopus.” I do think Israel needed to send Iran an “F-U” but not sure bombing Damascus was the way to go? I dunno.
Either way, they’re in it now and perhaps better be in direct confrontation with the head, rather than the proxies?
John Bolton had an interesting take on the situation:
“How long until Iran has a nuke?”
“72 hours.“
They potted the IRGC brigadier general who planned Oct 7 plus at least one senior Islamic Jihad guy (although that guy may’ve survived). They were engaging in an act of war against Israel.
Israeli bombing of the Iranian embassy [sic] in Damascus (wiki)
I think therefore the question is whether Iran, IJ and Hezbollah thought they could engage in this hostile action without triggering a response. And as you see they got a response.
And all Iran achieved is injuring a seven year old Bedouin girl.
Yet some are still claiming Iran is playing 3d chess, sad.
It’s been 1 year, 2 years, 6 months before Iran has nukes for decades now. They have nukes by now.
They should pray to Allah that their nukes are more reliable than their ballistic missiles, the obvious delivery system. Half their ballistic missiles failed either at launch or in flight.
Sure they did. Did you see the video of a ballistic missile doing an evasive maneuveur secs before hitting its target?
Methinx the reference might be too Israeli nukes not Iranian ……!
Dover Beach, if Iran already has a nuke, we are faced with a nightmare situation. This means that they are waiting to get an arsenal with which to blackmail the West.
Will Biden swap an American city for Tel Aviv?
If the Mullahs have 5 nukes, and they hit Israel, then threaten to hit New York, Washington, London, and Paris, will they throw the Israelis under the bus?
Damn straight they will – and they will do so while lauding their sacrifices for world peace.
And you know what? The Israelis know this as well.
We are passed those speculations in the decision tree.

Terrified mothers, kids flee machete-wielding gangs at Woodgrove Shopping CentreTerrified mothers still reeling from the Bondi stabbings were forced to flee with their children from a shopping centre in Melbourne’s northwest as a brawl broke out between armed men.

Terrified mothers and children were forced to flee from a western suburbs shopping centre after a group of machete-wielding men became involved in a bloodied brawl on Monday.
Detectives understand the group of men, armed with various weapons, launched their frightening attack inside the Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melton about 5pm.
Multiple witnesses say they saw the group, who they believe to be teenagers, throwing chairs and waving knives and machetes around.
One woman, who was forced to flee with her five-year-old child, said she was “disgusted” with the group given the horrific events that took place at Bondi Junction on Saturday.

“Kids brawling, throwing chairs around. One guy waving a machete around. Ran out with my kids and advised everyone walking in to turn around,” she said.
“You would think these idiots would take pause after what happened in Bondi. I’m so disgusted that I had to explain to my five-year-old why we had to run out of the shops.
“Woodgrove needs a police presence for all hours that it’s open and these little turds need harsher punishments. There is zero value for human life

Not really. Israel swore to exterminate everyone responsible for Oct 7. It turned out Zahedi was very high up in that responsibility tree.
He’s now joining the Munich Olympics guys in a very warm location. They can discuss their relative experiences of having really pissed off the Israelis.
Israel wants to assassinate terror leaders worldwide. It’s not the first time (8 Jan)
Everyone associated with the obscene Oct 7 attack are dead men. I would not be selling them life insurance.
Whatever one may think of that, the Minister’s decision was in accord with the law, as three judges ruled. Djokovic’s case was not helped by irregularities in his paperwork, a fatal error when appealing at such a level.
A surprising number of these judgments go with the flow of the political orthodoxy. The recent immigration case is an exception to that rule but the courts have long been red hot where they suspect either indefinite detention or encroachment on their turf.

You’re right DB, we’ve passed the deadline for when Iran should have nuclear capability but from reports I heard they were still at 80%, who knows.
Bolton’s comment (I didn’t finish it but was a sobering thought) was there’s nothing stopping a certain “Axis of Evil” country providing Iran a nuke via Turkey. And it’d only take 72 hours.
There’ve been some reports in the last 24 hours that Iran has vowed “to use a weapon it’s never used before.” These sources are the various “intel” accounts you get on twitter. Sometimes they’ve been very accurate, not so much at other times.

Two weeks ago people were at the ‘Iran wouldn’t dare strike Israel proper’ stage. They did and then people shifted to ‘but it was theatrical’ stage. If the strike was ‘theatre’ why does Israel think, at least openly, that it must respond? What might it be seeking to restore regionally?
They didn’t telegraph their response for the past two weeks to the hour? It doesn’t appear to have been a surprise attack in any way. It’s not exactly Pearl Harbor.
What’s your point?
Arndt going: Lehrmann pulls pin on conferenceStaff writers
Bruce Lehrmann has withdrawn from appearing at a conference called the Restoring the Presumption of Innocence just a day after Justice Michael Lee found he raped Brittany Higgins.
“Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins,” Justice Lee said in his conclusions on Monday.
“I hasten to stress, this is a finding on the balance of probabilities.”
Mr Lehrmann was set to appear at the conference in June, however sponsor of the event Mothers of Sons confirmed on Facebook he will no longer be attending.
“In light of recent events, Bruce Lehrmann has decided not to appear at the Restoring the Presumption of Innocence conference,” the post read.
“He is being subject to extremely aggressive pursuit by the media and is concerned that his participation may threaten the audience, jeopardise this important event, and distract from its main purpose.”
The event, set to take place at an unknown location in Rushcutters Bay, was organised Bettina Arndt with Australians for Science and Freedom (ASF).
A petition has been formed to cancel the event following over concerns it could cause harm or damage to the victim survivor community.
This was the attitude on Oct 6.

Trump is probably having a snooze dreaming about the women he has actually rooted. He didn’t root stormy; that was established when the skank’s lawyer jailbird Avenatti sued Trump for defamation and lost and Trump had his costs from the slimy duo worth $500K which is more dosh then stormy has earned spreading her thighs in her slutty life.
As for this grotesque case against Trump professor Turley sums it up:
“This case is, creating something, it’s creating a criminal code just for Trump. You know, you have a misdemeanor whose time has expired, the statute limitations ran out, and it was revived in this rather curious way. He’s effectively arguing that Trump was filing false business records through his counsel to hide a federal crime. But it isn’t a federal crime, this wasn’t a campaign contribution. None of that appears to matter, and that’s why a lot of us are looking at this and recoiling. This is not how the law is supposed to be.”
Would it not be in the public interest to know who these “two groups of young people” were (generally speaking) and what the cause of their animosity against each other is?
Mention of a machete could be a clue.

Report: Israel Readies Air Force to ‘Forcefully’ Deliver ‘Retaliatory Counter-Strike’ Against Iran (15 Apr)
Recall Operation Praying Mantis? Thirty six years later and the Iranians appear to have forgotten. It sounds like the IDF think a similar refresher lesson is required. Interesting that Praying Mantis occurred on 18 Apr 1988. I wonder if the IDF likes historical dates?
Precisely my point. The strike was significant and the pressure to respond on the Israelis appears irresistable, and the Iranians know this and have very likely made the requisite preparations defensively and offensively.
Geez. Its almost like “know your enemy” and “plan your war before fighting” are nostrums that nobody in ME ever read …
My guess is both sides would prefer symbolic, not actual, war and both sides have political pressures to ‘win’ but at what cost …
America is the swing vote in all this, it can stop Israel by withdrawing support (financial, military, strategic) and it can match the threat of Iran militarily but is extremely exposed across the ME in an asymmetric fight.

350 Iranian ballistics shot at Israel.
I say 350 Israeli Air Force’s Python 5 missiles upon Iran’s head.
“A pound of flesh, no more, no less.”
Not sure what a whole stack of air to air missiles would do except shoot down enemy planes if they were in the air…
In some ways the Israelis were too successful. Normally a Pearl Harbor style attack would be an immediate casus belli for a declaration of war.
Israel doesn’t seem to be going in that direction. Because the Iranian strike was such a debacle I suspect they feel they can’t trigger the military alliance with the US into a formal war with Iran. Which would be certainly justified on the events.
If they feel they can’t declare war formally and trigger the US alliance then the alternative would be unilateral action. They could obliterate the Iranian Navy without a declaration of war, just on the moral basis of an appropriate response, and Biden would have no leg to stand on to object.
It’s an interesting thought bubble to think what if the US had intercepted and shot down 99% of the Japanese air attack approaching Honolulu on 7 Dec? Would Roosevelt then’ve declare war? Or done something short of that?

BREAKING: Another Mass Stabbing in Sydney as Attacker Targets Bishop and Multiple Worshippers in Good Shepherd Church (SHOCK VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit | by Paul Serran
There’s a sex orgy going on on the balcony outside my door, has been for the last few days.
No, it’s not a bunch of Parliamentary staffers after a big night, it’s paper wasps, the orange and brown ones, Polistes humilis. Every year about this time, they congregate around here and, as the saying goes, f*** their brains out.
It’s a frenzy – threesomes, multiple partners, you name it.
Reading up on these wasps, I found no mention of this behaviour, although there were all sorts of theories about female dominance and interbreeding as survival mechanisms – ‘evolutionary’ psychobabble.
Yet, not one of the several sources (including heavy duty ones) mentioned the autumn bacchianalia that I have witnessed for years.
In Victorian times, citizen scientists contributed valuable information to the mainstream. The ‘official’ scientists could not be everywhere.
Yet, when it comes to the common paper wasp, the articles I read were all about theories of hierarchy and whether they were likely to sting. Having cohabited with them for years, unless seriously annoyed, they don’t, but some of these dickhead ‘academics’ tried to puff up their articles by claiming that they are potentially dangerous.
As for all the attempts to put their behaviour into the framework of post modern sexual politics – what a betrayal of science. What nonsense.
AFAIK, after the end of year party – which is magnificent, BTW – the males die (sorry guys) and the fertilised females hole up somewhere for winter. In spring, they emerge and start new nests.
That’s it. Genetic diversity is ensured by the orgy currently going on outside.
If they can mess up a simple thing like paper wasps, what the hell are they doing elsewhere in science?
The Israelis didn’t attack the Iranian Embassy. That’s propaganda BS.
They are accused of hitting a building in Damascus that lies between the Iranian and Canadian embassies. One which was employed as the headquarters for the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) efforts to support and coordinate iran-backed terrorist groups attacking Israel. A completely legitimate target.
Proof? Eight IRGC officers were killed, not a single diplomat was scratched.

The muzzies are well armed and there are more illegal guns in Australia then legal.
The US gun crime rate, once you remove black and hispanic gun crime, usually with illegal guns since most of it happens in demorat cities which have gun restrictions stricter than Australia, is about the same as the rate in Australia.
The issue is not guns but a citizen’s right to self defence, which applies to being in public as well as in their home. We saw how effective that self defence right was at Bondi. What would you have done if you had been at Bondi?
I have seen government estimates of upwards of 600 000 unlicensed firearms in circulation … tens of thousands of SKS 7.62 x 39 as sold throughout Queensland just for starters.
Alice Springs three-week long curfew lifts
The youth curfew in Alice Springs has been lifted after nearly three weeks.
The curfew, which was introduced on March 27 following violence incidents, was in place between 6pm and 6am for people under the age of 18, prohibiting them from entering the CBD without a “lawful purpose”.
Northern Territory Chief Minister Eva Lawler told the ABC she received reports rates of domestic violence lowered during the curfew.
“The issues that we see in the suburbs were the issues you would probably see in the suburbs in Alice Springs, it was, though, that we had additional police there, so any of those issues got cleaned up pretty quickly from the reports I was getting from the police,” she told the ABC.
“The advice that I was given, that there was less domestic violence.
“One crime is one crime too many in Alice Springs, and that is the frustrating thing about that town, because it is an amazing town.”

Did luv the way driving along a wrecked vehicle strewn highway they flopped across the other side and got a clear run thru … as you do in
we-is-the-heroes type scenarios LOL!
no rating not there long enuf …!

” I hasten to stress, this is is a finding on the balance of probabilities.” Watching on tele yesterday I wondered why the haste. Was he worried something ? Was he still unsure?

Gung-ho Pingelly shearer Luke Vernon has broken the world eight-hour record, shearing 500 Merino ewes to break Lou Brown’s previous record of 497 set in 2019.
The New Zealand-born 28-year-old became an official world record holder on his first attempt on April 12, in a spectacular performance at Doug Dougal and Ashe Young’s Thornton Park shearing shed, near Pingelly.
The World Sheep Shearing Records Society has verified Vernon’s 500-ewe tally made up of successive two-hour runs of 120, 126, 126 and 125.
Vernon, who shears fulltime for Pingelly Shearing contractor Rob Cristinelli, said he fulfilled a “dream” to be the first man to shear 500 Merino ewes in one day in world-record time.
Motoring. That’s 1000 teats avoided.
Or not quite as Hugh below points out.
120 + 126 + 126 +125 =/= 500
The Chinese Communist Party has long stated its intention to take down the United States and replace it as the global superpower.
But how does the CCP plan to achieve this goal? By implementing what’s known as a “four wars” strategy.global superpower.
I get sick and tired of people talking about the towns and countries they live in being fantastic places. And as for one crime is one too many. FMD. Unicorn farts smell so sweet. Alice Springs is in the Shiite Town category every year. Canberra is no better than Alice Springs and in many ways much worse. Something can be done about the Alice, a spine from government to start with by not putting up with the crap behaviour and start to have expectations and responsibilities from all concerned, not the faux concern by the grifters of every hue. The biggest problem to me is throwing money at it. The more money the more grifters with their hand in the till. All the problems I’ve had in life are self inflicted and until I took responsibility none of them were sloved. My 3yo grandson already understands if he doesn’t behave at my place I don’t want him to come over. Of course he still has his moments, he’s 3. This thing about its everyone else’s fault has to stop. Adults blaming others for their own poor decisions is pathetic. FOAD. I no longer care. I’ll only help people that help themselves. Enough is enough.
I took that to mean it would take that long to get a nuke from Pakistan.
Um, 120 + 126 + 126 + 125 = 497, not 500.
Unkind souls have already pointed that out…
This ruling is not the criminal standard of beyond reasonable doubt. He says, she says, but she says prevails and Lehrmann ruined. Balance of probabilities – hmmm.
Ms Higgins did not have the 11 drinks forced down her throat, nor forced into the uber, or into Parliament House in early hours.
Judge Michael Lee put emphasis on the fact that Higgins couldn’t get her shoes back on at Security, which showed how inebriated she was.
They were strappy stilettos which when totally sober require good balance and dexterity to get the strap around the back. Try it.
His words “I have no doubt that Ms Higgins’inability to put on her shoes was caused by her state of inebriation. ” and later words to the effect, “it can’t be that difficult”. It is.
Yes, Ceres. Most women need to be seated to put shoes like that on. In a tight miniskirt, even moreso.
I’m starting to wonder if Justice Pumpkin can tie his own shoelaces.
The judgment seems unsatisfactory on a number of levels. Possibly not Appeable unsatisfactory though. Expect a few players might be experiencing fatigue. Especially once some Costs orders are made.
For what it’s worth….. we have a houseguest at the moment. A young woman (19) and last weekend Mrs Speedbox, Miss Speedbox, our guest and myself were going out for dinner.
Just prior to leaving our home, our guest appeared barefoot carrying her shoes which were strappy with about 4″ stiletto heels. She put on the first shoe with no difficulty as her other bare foot was firmly planted on the ground but, when it came to balancing on the stiletto heel to put on the second shoe, it was a somewhat more difficult task.
It is relevant to mention that our guest is a world class gymnast and thus if she had a very minor case of ‘the wobbles’ putting on strappy high heels while stone cold sober, it is not unreasonable to expect other women may also find it a challenge.
To be clear, she didn’t need to steady herself on the door or anything else, but it was obviously a much more controlled exercise in balance.
Unkind souls on Micheal Smith are pointing out that BL managed to lead BH down several corridors, and didn’t get to a situation where the lady was fearing for her modesty, and he manged to exit the building without being challenged as to what had happened to his companion, and why he was now leaving alone?
She didn’t look too blotto to me – despite the testimony that she had consumed 11 drinks. And she was speaking without slurring words etc.
“The curious thing is her actions after the rape”
“But she no action”
“That is the curious thing”
Fixd
“The curious thing is her actions after the rape”
“But she took no action”
“That is the curious thing”
Things really got moving once Dave arrived on the scene.
Haha, word is getting around how leftist sucky it is.
‘Civil War’ Takes Box Office Spoils With $25.7M Opening, Best Ever For A24 – Sunday AM Update (14 Apr)
Five percent of the audience were righties. Five percent! Obviously those unfortunate people don’t read Breitbart or they’d’ve known better:
‘Civil War’ Review: Ridiculously Dopey, Anti-Trump Snuff Film (12 Apr)
I suggest reading Kurt Schlichter’s Kelly Turnbull books instead.
Having read through today’s snippets…Thanks Tom etc … I have seen no reason to excoriate you folks … this time … but notice I am always “Awaiting Approval” ..must be worrisome to be needing to have everything aproved before you can read it … So Much for Conservatism … Rock Ribbed … and Free Speech ? Likely in a gesture of magnanimity My comments may be allowed eventually … Just to make a point …. eventually … Oh Gosh !!
