LIBERTY QUOTE
I have had the following conversation on innumerable occasions with young men of about 20 who have been unemployed since leaving school, and whose general educational level is outlined above: ‘Have you thought of improving your education?’ ‘No.’ ‘Why not?’ ‘There’s no point. There are no jobs.’ ‘Could there be any other reason to get educated?’ ‘No.

— Theodore Dalrymple

Unfortunately DB for many young people education is only about getting a job. We are doomed.

Matt Margolis #2.

Not only did they lose the war against the Taliban but …
They had no fucking idea that the Taliban could advance at the rate they did,
They gifted the Taliban $90,000,000,000 worth of military kit,
They actually bragged about how well their evacuation operation went despite it resulting in the death of 13 US service personnel and leaving up to 200 US citizens behind, and
They bombed a car-load of kiddies in retaliation.
They could not have fucked it up any more if they tried. With that track record, I would be shocked if the tens of thousands of unvetted Afghans they brought to the US don’t include terrorist sleeper cells.

Merck produces an anti viral pill.

KENILWORTH, N.J. & MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Merck (NYSE: MRK), known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics today announced that molnupiravir (MK-4482, EIDD-2801), an investigational oral antiviral medicine, significantly reduced the risk of hospitalization or death at a planned interim analysis of the Phase 3 MOVe-OUT trial in at risk, non-hospitalized adult patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19. At the interim analysis, molnupiravir reduced the risk of hospitalization or death by approximately 50%; 7.3% of patients who received molnupiravir were either hospitalized or died through Day 29 following randomization (28/385), compared with 14.1% of placebo-treated patients (53/377); p=0.0012. Through Day 29, no deaths were reported in patients who received molnupiravir, as compared to 8 deaths in patients who received placebo.

One for military history Cats.

The story of the Sherwood Rangers, the British Band of Brothers (1 Oct)

They began the war on horses, before converting to Sherman tanks. An epic new book tells the story of the men who fought and died in the final bloody scramble to beat the Nazis.

Brothers In Arms: One Legendary Tank Regiment’s Bloody War from D-Day to VE Day by James Holland (Bantam, £25) is out now.

The Sherwood Rangers feature in the Australian official WW2 history several times alongside the 7th and 9th Divs.

Marvellous painting, Dover. I love Caravaggio’s style. He captures a precise moment in time, like a snapshot taken with a flash, and the facial expressions are sublime.

Just who exactly is it that Christ is calling? The bearded man, the young man at the far end who’s head is bowed, the youth? It doesn’t matter – He’s calling all of them but only one will get up and follow.

And that pointing hand – we’ve all seen it before in another work by another artist. (Hint-you have to look up).

Everyone handles worry in their own way guys. Sometimes bravado helps.

I found Arky’s description of the “threshold event” helpful. It chimed with my world view, but others will see it differently.

Meanwhile, I will face another day of velvet glove pestering, all for my own good of course. Not everyone sees the same thing, the same danger, and I really feel for poor Megan and her fractured family.

Withholding of grandchildren is the act of a desperate, over-emotional person. Which leads me to think that the young mum is under the pump too and punished the one she knew would offer unconditional forgiveness. As mums do.

On behalf of Hardcore Gym management & staff we hope that this email finds you well.

Hardcore Gym is a 25-year-old family-run & owned business, that upholds a strong value for family, community & human relationships. We hope that our valued Employees, members & guests share the same values.

Since our opening in 1997 Hardcore Gym has implemented zero tolerance towards segregation and discrimination and will continue to do so.

A large number of our employees, members, and guests have been an integral part of the Hardcore Gym family since they were teenagers who are now fathers. Our extended family includes people like this.

Upon analysing the information presented within the NSW State Government Roadmap to freedom we concluded that the management of a safe reopening on the 11th of October without discriminating against members, friends & guests will be an impossible task.

In conclusion, we have decided not to open our doors on the 11th of October.

Hardcore Gym anticipates that you will be supportive of the decision that we have been forced to make.

Anyway, we discussed just how many small businesses in this state will rigorously enforce this. We don’t think many will, they need the business. Whilst Coles and Woollies are checking people, smaller supermarkets aren’t…..and for that I’m now doing more shopping at those smaller supermarket chains.

Lastly by the looks still no concrete date from the Feds. Any other airlines a part of it?

Early days yet I suppose and purveyors of the population ponzi are obviously getting restless. Pity the nation that raises not its voice
Except to praise conquerors

Pity the nation that knows
No other language but its own

Pity the nation whose breath is money

Pity the nation oh pity the people

Like the Germans who took out retribution against whole villages for the actions of the partisans, nothing and no one is off limits to Dan when seeking this appeasement.

We are not dealing with a rational person, so commonsense is off the table. It’s like dealing with a rabid dog, expect the unexpected.

François Mitterrand’s final secret mistress ‘had run of the Élysée Palace’

François Mitterrand’s exploits with women were famous and the latest revelation is unlikely to damage his reputation

France thought there was little more to learn about the prolific love life of the late François Mitterrand, the president who kept a mistress in a secret second household throughout his 14-year term. This week, a woman in her fifties revealed that she had also been a secret mistress of the president for the last eight years of his life.

“Claire” was a 22-year-old law student and Mitterrand was 50 years older when he began a close romantic and physical liaison with her, treating her possessively, spying on her and telephoning her twice a day, according to a book in which she recounts the hitherto unknown affair.

Claire, whose real identity is not revealed, played recordings of telephone conversations with Mitterrand and showed photographs with the elderly left-wing president to corroborate her tale with Solenn de Royer, author of Dans le Dernier Secret (In the Last Secret).

Claire, the daughter of a well-off family from Toulouse, idolised the literary Socialist president like many young people when he won office in 1981 while she was in her teens. He took notice of her after she followed him around the country and began an affair when she invited him to her tiny Paris flat.

She knew Danielle Mitterrand, the first lady, but did not know of the existence of Anne Pingeot, Mitterrand’s long-term mistress and mother of their daughter Mazarine, who was kept in state apartments also on the Left Bank of the Seine.

Soon Claire had the run of the Élysée Palace, where Mitterrand kept his own quarters, away from his Left Bank family home. She went with him on official trips abroad. “She thought only of him,” writes de Royer, a journalist at Le Monde. “Of the moments when she would finally find him, in the Élysée library, at dinners in seafood restaurants, on strolls along the Seine, in the evening and morning phone calls. [But] he did not like her going out. He wanted to keep her for him alone . . . He knew everything about her life. She was not living. She was waiting.”

When the young mistress complained one day that the president was not paying her enough attention, he replied: “But I have seen you longer than Sakharov or Walesa.” Mitterrand was cultivating at the time Andrei Sakharov, the Soviet dissident and Nobel peace prize laureate, and Lech Walesa, president of Poland.

When Paris Match magazine exposed the existence of Pingeot and her daughter in 1994 Mitterrand made no excuses to Claire and shrugged her off when she remonstrated: “What am I in all this? A toy, an understudy?” The president said: “Stop it. They are nice people.”

Oct 1 (Reuters) – An experimental antiviral pill developed by Merck & Co (MRK.N) could halve the chances of dying or being hospitalized for those most at risk of contracting severe COVID-19, according to data that experts hailed as a potential breakthrough in how the virus is treated.

If it gets authorization, molnupiravir, which is designed to introduce errors into the genetic code of the virus, would be the first oral antiviral medication for COVID-19.

Merck and partner Ridgeback Biotherapeutics said they plan to seek U.S. emergency use authorization for the pill as soon as possible and to make regulatory applications worldwide.

“An oral antiviral that can impact hospitalization risk to such a degree would be game changing,” said Amesh Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.

I put this at the end of the 27/9 thread, but would like it here too, because as I said there as well, I did not think it was mandatory to sign up to Riccardo’s Edict to be a Catallaxian these days:

Again, there is that nagging but unanswered question.
Where was that solidarity in March 2020?

I am on record (Quadrant, June 2020) publically questioning the proportionality of the governmental responses to a pandemic that I had judged for myself to be no reason to stop my travels in March.

Proportionality is something worth bearing in mind here too re the vaxx passports, which will die their natural death in a few months, as they must. Most Australians do not want to live by divide and rule and I along with others will be saying that loud and clear in daily activities.

I will never forget the threat of the 1945 haircut though. That is obscene.

Calli,
Defence is always done in depth, with multiple prepared defensive positions in the rear.

I’ve been talking extensively with many people (mostly husbands and fathers) of like mind. Many are not stupid enough to believe that as providers, etc that they can’t be forced into have the vax. However, they are going to push it (and their employers) to the limit. They are going to get the mandate in writing, so that the employer is responsible and accountable for future action. They may have it to keep their job, but they will then use that position to continue the fight against the two tier system and mandatory vaccination.

Some have already move to the second line of defence…a sad reality but they are still fighting.

The one line that seems to be the last defensive position, is mandatory vaccination of the kids. That one appears to be the stand, fight and die position.

Being forced into it isn’t a personal failing, it’s a reality of life and our current situation. Dusting yourself off and continuing to stand by your principles is the defining factor.

Sacré bleu! There was a contretemps on the ol’ thread last evening? Who’da thunk it.

Well, it was all going beautifully until Hitler turned up.

Bat eared mong seen on tv.

Hes saying the CHOs are making the vaccines compulsory where people are a “severe risk” of infecting others.

Given the disease can be carried by vaccinated as well as unvaccinated is the CHO mentally challenged or is the mong lying?

Most Australians do not want to live by divide and rule
Are you sure about that?

Have you seen the narcissist couples on Facebook with with their portraits framed by a double jabbed logo or (hold your breakfast down) in love hearts?
The first deadly sin is pride and the first virtue is humility.

It is scandalous that everyone who got vaccinated was never tested as a matter of course for COVID or COVID antibodies let alone antibodies for similar pathogens that confer natural immunity, let alone trying to identify natural immunity.

A chance for a great natural experiment ruined by politics.

Rabz, last night:

Milts – we grew up in a classless society.

Dunno if we ever grew up in one of those. We might think we did, being a bit younger and potentially more naive, but once people got into adulthood I think the realisation set in that there always has been, is, and always will be a ruling class in some form or another.

and I never got to see the The Last Supper in Milan either.

It was being restored when I saw it in the 90’s. It was rather faded. I was a little surprised it was in an unassuming church as I recall. And not really in the salubrious part of Milan. But beautiful non-the less. They keep the lighting down (then) so I found it best viewed around dusk.

You should see all of the special interests.

NSW – commercial fishing, towing & even cleaning drains.

Victoria – working taxi families.

Of course lawyers are the worst, they’ve ruled the west since Henry VIII went mad with syphlis. The sad fact is, the legal fraternity is the unofficial “new” aristocracy since the musket made all but the best plate armour obsolete.

I subscribe to both the Spectator and the Quadrant. Worthwhile in both cases.

Imagine getting sexually aroused or feeling true romantic love for your special person having a course of Cephalexin or Heplisav-B.

Wow, just wow!

“For Valentine’s Day, give your special someone a pint of Interferon-B or a bed pan….”

Loopy stuff!

The Last Supper is very faded.
The building lost it’s roof during WW2 I think and it wasn’t replaced for a while.
Also the church was used as a refectory for a while and someone cut a servery hatch through Jesus’ feet.

That’s because this has never been about medicine or we would have heard about all sorts of experiments and studies, there would be discussions galore. That we are not even allowed to speak of such things means it’s about power and oppression. The more they insist we must not ask questions the more suspicion it raises.

This leads into my next question.

Tumbril ticket numbers. Should health bureaucrats be placed ahead of Vik and NSW plod?
Should we have different tickets for Vik and NSW plod?
