Johanna, Bear,
thanks for the advice, appreciated. The only trees and plants I will be rid of are the already dying, struggling and obviously diseased. Also the stuff that is not particularly special which is stopping any light from getting into the house, and which is sending bad roots under the house.
The house is pre-war, foot thick sand stock which has been rendered. Because it is so old, the windows aren’t the huge ones I am used to. I like a lot of natural light in any house I live in. Also, not a good idea to have your house surrounded by combustible material if you are in the path of a bushfire. I will be one of only two occupants on my road which is approximately 7 kilometres end to end. No near neighbours!

I was going to post on this morning but I got caught up in with the Aaron Rodgers news.
Early this morning I tuned into a presentation from an independent research house based out of Florida which was discussing the elections.
They had a guy on with a different view on what happened across the country which on every metric was a resounding win for the GOP.
They reckoned that while education was a big issue for some people in Virginia (& elsewhere), they reckon it was energy prices that caused it.
And we’re not talking about the cost of filing up the car (which is obscene).
We’re talking the cost to heat/cool your home.
They reckon residential energy costs are up 85% year on year.
And while home owners are doing well, stock holders are doing well & even the crypto wealth effect is understated amongst young people, that’s not doing anything for household cashflow (unless you sell).
With minimal wage growth, household cashflows are getting destroyed because of energy prices.
This flies in the face of the net household saving surge that was seen during 2020.
This is different to any view that’s being promoted by the media.
It’s even different from what that tech nerd that Viva & Barnes use.
That’s why I’ll add the chap to who I follow to see what else he comes up with.
All things FB at the work network are blocked.
This not unusual. Why do people persist with FB?
Silly question, who is the speaker on the Real Rukshan feed now? Face looks very familiar.
Yeah na got some beared dude on now. I am having no problems with facebook today despite not having an account.
The tech nerd (the People’s Pundit) from the Viva Barnes universe said on the live stream from yesterday that New Jersey was the only state in 2012 (apart from Hawaii) that increased their vote for Obama over 2008.
The fact that Murphy had a run for his money & that education wasn’t really an issue in New Jersey makes me think the energy story was a real factor.
Also, from this morning’s presentation, Virginia has the lowest number of people per household in the US.
That is, less kids.
So that’s why the chap this morning was saying that sure it was a factor, but if you don’t have kids in school, it ranked lower or not at all.
I am now in partial compliance with a law designed to hide Sneakers’ failures to properly fund and competently run the WA Health Service.

LOL, def Mr Adams and not the bear.
I think the footage of Biden’s energy secretary cackling when asked about energy prices was possibly the most tone deaf thing so far in 2021.
Even bigger than the blah-blah fest in Scotland this week.
Biden’s over there talking about “green” energy.

I’ve never seen a more uncaring response laced with lies. OPEC does NOT control the price of gas. The US is the largest producer in the world.
But think of this too….
A stupid crass bint, close to the top of the administration in political control of the US, is stating publicly that a bunch of camel jockeys run US energy policy. And this after the administration has locked down domestic energy production.
Yes, this is a big one. By my estimate, twice the numbers of any previous one (and I’ve been to every big one so far). I eventually had to leave because the crowd’s simply too big and tight to be safe in. It’s a big, happy, fun crowd, but it’s quite a crush in the middle of it all.
There’s a bit of a different vibe today. Past events have been more about individual rights; this time, it seems there are more people concerned about having the kung flu ‘vaccine’ forced on kids. I think the government may have finally tried one bridge too far.
Sadly, the organisers still haven’t learned how to manage public speakers. There were two capable blokes, a few good solid musicians, and the rest of them are useless. Shrill, incoherent and incomprehensible = fail. And, as others have pointed out, the usual irrelevant causers have shown up to hijack the event. Either the organisers are dimwits, or are in on it.
Also, more proof today that these things only turn violent when the police turn violent.

Simeon Boikov’s interview with Craig Kelly yesterday was very interesting.
The UAP is now the largest political party in Australia with 75,000 members, and they are expecting that to rise to around 100,000 by the end of the year. That’s a lot of dedicated people to man the polling booths, distribute pamphlets, and scrutinise the counting of the votes.
What was particularly interesting was that the UAP will preference votes on a “put the sitting member last” policy. Given the anger out there in the electorate, the UAP should come in at least third in every electorate, and their preferences will tip the sitting member, be they LNP or ALP, out of the House.
So Federal Parliament in 2022 will be a very interesting place to visit. It will be filled with fresh-faced mongs wandering around wondering how they ended up there.

His mrs put kybosh on apparently (hence the bitch I got). Have mentioned her before, she’s from a border region of Sa Kaew Province. Apparently all foreigners over there are being very careful in bigger centres let alone poorly protected border areas. Crime and kidnapping risk cited. 2 years of no tourism people are getting desperate, especially crime gangs.
The siht these lockdowns have caused is unconscionable and will have repercussions for years. I personally wonder whether we will see another David Wilson incident in that region at the start of any opening.

I am going to bring in the loppers. I can only take down saplings myself. I have had so many body parts replaced, rebuilt etc, I feel like the Bionic Woman. I will have them down over several years. First will be to strip the trunks up to five metres, mulch that, then take the top several metres off, mulch that. The trees will die over the next couple of years and I will be able to have them cut down a little more each year until they are gone. Even if I could afford it, the job would be too huge in one go and there would be nowhere to dump the timber. It would probably cover half an acre or more. There are about thirty trees. Bonus, lots of firewood!

Oh how I wish to go down with the sun

Gab, I did the march from the State Library, and we ended up at the top of Bourke. Was packed in, and as another said upthread, they need a platform for speakers and a better sound system as it was very hard to hear. Was your vantage any better?
Same, Dover. I was thinking if had heaps of $ I’d buy a better sound system for them. But Rukshan captured a lot of speakers where you were. The woman speaking at 5:09 was awesome but don’t know who she is.

The Bill is a no-lose for Maximum Leader.
If it passes he can imprison his political critics indefinitely.
If it’s rejected he’s got the perfect soundbite excuse for every covid-related disaster from here to election day – “if only I’d been given my emergency powers…”.
If you’ve done enough axonometric drawings you can spot it fairly quickly, mainly because you’re used to going the other way – turning rectangles into trapezoids. The other trick, which he didn’t mention, is the turning point. It’s towards the larger end.

Good on him.
You fellows got a good solid cheer from the crowd, too. Surprised me, since it’s definitely an allsorts assembly. Coming in from the side with a clearly-identifiable and well-behaved group is a smart move and a good look.
As for the sound system, it’s fine. Any louder and it just would deafen the crowd. Granted, some speakers positioned further down Bourke Street toward the back of the crowd would help. But the real problem is the people who are speaking – they can be heard, but many of them (ie most of the women) can’t be understood. They’re incoherent to start with, and ramble at pace in shrill dogwhistle-frequency Strine. Might as well be speaking in tongues. The boffins haven’t made a sound system that can fix it.
Also, I reckon 25k is very generous overestimate. That’s half the capacity of the MCG. I’d say somewhere closer to 5k is more credible. Happy to be corrected on that point, though. Still a great crowd, packed in tightly.

BHL,
Watching 9 news now. Aerial shot of the crowd and commentary of 10s of thousands. Knowing how much space a thousand kids take up on assembly, I would say your 5k is understated by a a factor of a least 3. I would say from the footage it was 15k minimum
Calli is right. Surveys do not have a checkbox that says “I rooly rooly hate Dan”
I have seen this happen before. Those 100k haters are the ones whose words form an underground campaign.
Take away everything, and people have nothing to lose.
After the first the rest are free.
I agree, Diogenes. Now that I’ve seen the crowd from overhead, instead of just from the top of Bourke Street, I take it back. It did look like half an MCG’s worth.
Well done, Victoria.
Sacré bleu! Not again, please. 🙁
“Are these politicians insane? Do they honestly think they can ever walk down the street again post politics?”
Yes….they are so completely out of touch and they believe they are beyond any reproach.
The protest got coverage on Seven and Nein.
Quite a bit of pejorative language from reporterettes … “self appointed experts” etc.
Both channels had the same footage of some dickhead spitting at a camera.
Networks must have agreed to share their “best stuff”.
Talk of another one next weekend.
Any details?

An image from one of my high school science books: “Even though we can’t feel it, the Earth is hurtling through space”.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That li’l factlet is not going to impress various long dark haired, pale skinned babes.
Unfortunately. 🙁
You’re joking, right?
25,000.
Weak as piss!
That’s just half of one percent of Melbourne’s population.
Whoopee-do!
Listen you spineless, lily-livered COWards, if it was Queensssland …
“Networks must have agreed to share their “best stuff”.”
Of course…it’s all about the smear.
Gab,
How does one get to know of such things as the Rosary procession ( and of Comensoli’s misplaced directive)?
I only learnt of today’s event because someone here – I forget who, but thanks- mentioned something along the lines that the State Library was a fine place to visit.
Despite some pejorative language in reporting and selected footage, they didn’t try to underplay the crowd size.
The latter is an excellent description of this type of pompous insufferable ALPBC knobhead.
“Comensoli sent out an edict to all priests late yesterday forbidding them to go to the Rosary. “
Why would he forbid it Gab?
Dover.
Is it possible to post details of upcoming protests here as and when they occur?
I am keen to get along to a couple if I am in Melbourne.
MCG is 100K capacity.
Don’t forget to include the ones in Sydneystan, Squire (err, if there are any).
It’s time to engage in some preposterous posturing.
I’ll be the one busy at work in the background preparing the cat ‘o’ nine tails, gallows and pikes. 🙂
There are a number of rules-of-thumb in politics and media around the multiples of “silent but angries” sitting behind every protester or letter writer or caller to a TV station switchboard.
The crowd today would have Dan’s advisors shitting bricks because they are a broad cross-section of voters and impossible to neatly pigeon-hole and dismiss.
Hang on. Aren’t you supposed to be a sneerer and scoffer?
This will cause uproar in some parts of Quenthslend.
Rabz, if you think you might run out of hardware, I can get the workshop operational. Pitchfork sharpening a speciality.
As opposed to the “silent and stupid” idiots clustered behind every smug elected politician on any election night, when crossed to, for a victory gloat.
“Gee, Annabelle, I couldnee have done it without the ‘elp of the lunatic asylum inmates behind me – fanatical, they are, I tells ya – at which point the latter all start emitting various pig pen like unedifying sounds … 🙁
calli – you will be in the front line workshop. I’d expect nothing less, Madame.
The U/H needs three votes to pass this Communist ‘Pandemic Bill’. It is up to Victorian voters here to lobby Patten and Meddick – threatening political annihilation at the next State Election if they betray Victorians. I’ve done my bit.
I watched The McGregor Report on Sky last night. Senator Amanda Stoker from QLD was one of the guests. It was a discussion about the enabling legislation before the Victorian Upper House. It seems many, many Victorians have emailed the good Senator wanting the Federal Government to step in and do something.
While she has concerns, it seems she is more interested in the “careful what you wish for” scenario of the Commonwealth taking more powers away from the States, because citizens are best served by representatives closest to them. On that, that would be a reasonable position to take if we lived in reasonable times. But we don’t.
So her preference is to have the Victorians do something themselves and get rid of this bad government. But what does she suppose the public can do in this situation? The election is a year away; the Victorian Opposition is nothing special – has anyone down there heard from the Governor – and in the meantime the Andrews Government will more than likely get these powers.
Just to make sure that the principle and the reality of States’ right remain, it seems that she would prefer to have citizens detained indefinitely, more businesses closed and lockdowns all the way until election day.
Oh, and the Federal Government will not be challenging the closed borders in the High Court. None of these people live in the real world.
RFK Jnr.’s new book The Real Anthony Fauci with Bill Gates right on the cover. I wonder if Gates appreciates the publicity. He is now easily one of the most hated men in the world, right up there with George Soros, not to mention Fauci himself.
Has he been struggling? You wouldn’t have thought so from the recent (ahem) “controversial” posts.
If he has been, then as much as I hate to admit it, I wish him well. For all that that might mean.
He’s a confrere (whether he likes it or not) who’s almost as cynical as I am about life, the universe and everything.
Nothing happened in melbourne.
Thier ABCcess has nothing on its webpage.
We have a new gunner.
Bob Hawke could not be reached for comment.

New Earth café in Coolum Beach, Queensland harrased by police 12 times and counting

Don’t go soft, Rabz. Savanarola’s execution is the preferred model
NT pigs show VikPol how it’s done.
Happy to correct you. That 25,000 consisted of people at the Governor’s House, at the State Library, at Parliament House and at a couple of other locations I can’t recall now.
Just unbelievable. Knowingly, deliberately, sacrificing children.
How much more obvious…….
When are they going to do something about fat chicks? In breaking stupid news, the AFL Lezzo League has banned skin fold tests, because it can lead to fat shaming.
Much better to have lumbering fat mommas making the Lezzo League even slower and more unwatchable than it already is. FMD.
Thanks, areff – the Savonarola:
Nowadays, he’d be right at home as a highly placed apparatchik in our beloved ALPBC.
Cassie something about their ”safety from covid”. Look, Comensoli seems to approve heartily of Andrews so he dare not do anything to upset him. He’s no different to any other bishop in the world, barr the likes of the Bishop of Tyler, Texas and the one in California and another two I can’t recall. Of the 256 US bishops, there’s about 4 or 5 who haven’t swallowed the Kool-aid.
