After all, the ‘destroyed’ are all still here and posting as if nothing as happened, while the ‘destroyers’ race in, fling insults, scream and rage when they are returned and run away again…

That feeling of impotence in middle aged men when they realise they barely control their own household, much less the wider world, is something to behold.

Johanna, Bear,
thanks for the advice, appreciated. The only trees and plants I will be rid of are the already dying, struggling and obviously diseased. Also the stuff that is not particularly special which is stopping any light from getting into the house, and which is sending bad roots under the house.

The house is pre-war, foot thick sand stock which has been rendered. Because it is so old, the windows aren’t the huge ones I am used to. I like a lot of natural light in any house I live in. Also, not a good idea to have your house surrounded by combustible material if you are in the path of a bushfire. I will be one of only two occupants on my road which is approximately 7 kilometres end to end. No near neighbours!

I was going to post on this morning but I got caught up in with the Aaron Rodgers news.

Early this morning I tuned into a presentation from an independent research house based out of Florida which was discussing the elections.
They had a guy on with a different view on what happened across the country which on every metric was a resounding win for the GOP.
They reckoned that while education was a big issue for some people in Virginia (& elsewhere), they reckon it was energy prices that caused it.
And we’re not talking about the cost of filing up the car (which is obscene).

We’re talking the cost to heat/cool your home.
They reckon residential energy costs are up 85% year on year.

And while home owners are doing well, stock holders are doing well & even the crypto wealth effect is understated amongst young people, that’s not doing anything for household cashflow (unless you sell).
With minimal wage growth, household cashflows are getting destroyed because of energy prices.
This flies in the face of the net household saving surge that was seen during 2020.

This is different to any view that’s being promoted by the media.
It’s even different from what that tech nerd that Viva & Barnes use.
That’s why I’ll add the chap to who I follow to see what else he comes up with.

The tech nerd (the People’s Pundit) from the Viva Barnes universe said on the live stream from yesterday that New Jersey was the only state in 2012 (apart from Hawaii) that increased their vote for Obama over 2008.
The fact that Murphy had a run for his money & that education wasn’t really an issue in New Jersey makes me think the energy story was a real factor.

Also, from this morning’s presentation, Virginia has the lowest number of people per household in the US.
That is, less kids.
So that’s why the chap this morning was saying that sure it was a factor, but if you don’t have kids in school, it ranked lower or not at all.

Actually, big turnout at Melb protest. Massive.

Yes, this is a big one. By my estimate, twice the numbers of any previous one (and I’ve been to every big one so far). I eventually had to leave because the crowd’s simply too big and tight to be safe in. It’s a big, happy, fun crowd, but it’s quite a crush in the middle of it all.

There’s a bit of a different vibe today. Past events have been more about individual rights; this time, it seems there are more people concerned about having the kung flu ‘vaccine’ forced on kids. I think the government may have finally tried one bridge too far.

Sadly, the organisers still haven’t learned how to manage public speakers. There were two capable blokes, a few good solid musicians, and the rest of them are useless. Shrill, incoherent and incomprehensible = fail. And, as others have pointed out, the usual irrelevant causers have shown up to hijack the event. Either the organisers are dimwits, or are in on it.

Also, more proof today that these things only turn violent when the police turn violent.

Bloody hell. My main computer (IMAC) has been misbehaving ever since we brought it up to the farm (clearly a city computer!). Now it has chucked a wobble- so am reduced to using MacBook or iPad – neither of which are ideal for the the many applications I use.

Trouble is – neither husband nor I are vaxxed – & I don’t anticipate regional town computer geeks will consult with us if we bring IMAC in. Good old car mechanics are different breed – husband took cylinder head off ute yesterday to be reconditioned – no trouble.

This medical apartheid is infuriating. But then, that is what it is designed to do.

BTW consulted a computer geek by phone through the well known chain – was a waste of time. After 2 hours on FaceTime & Indian consultant eating a sandwich & talking to wife & kids, we called it a day & refused to pay the bill – since we received absolutely no benefit after 2 hours.

Received an email from George Christianson today – warning that our lives are going to become completely digitalised – aren’t they already????

Simeon Boikov’s interview with Craig Kelly yesterday was very interesting.

The UAP is now the largest political party in Australia with 75,000 members, and they are expecting that to rise to around 100,000 by the end of the year. That’s a lot of dedicated people to man the polling booths, distribute pamphlets, and scrutinise the counting of the votes.

What was particularly interesting was that the UAP will preference votes on a “put the sitting member last” policy. Given the anger out there in the electorate, the UAP should come in at least third in every electorate, and their preferences will tip the sitting member, be they LNP or ALP, out of the House.

So Federal Parliament in 2022 will be a very interesting place to visit. It will be filled with fresh-faced mongs wandering around wondering how they ended up there.

Fresh from victory last month in Sydney’s recently invented pop-up gimmick, the $15 million Everest, Nature Strip (J: James McDonald; T: C. Waller) easily wins the Group 1 Darley Sprint Classic ($2 million, 1200m) at Flemington at 30% bank interest ($1.30 or 3/1- on) in 1.08.78, just outside the track record of 1.07.32 – disappointing when the track was dry and fast and horses had a northerly tailwind down the straight.

His mrs put kybosh on apparently (hence the bitch I got). Have mentioned her before, she’s from a border region of Sa Kaew Province. Apparently all foreigners over there are being very careful in bigger centres let alone poorly protected border areas. Crime and kidnapping risk cited. 2 years of no tourism people are getting desperate, especially crime gangs.

The siht these lockdowns have caused is unconscionable and will have repercussions for years. I personally wonder whether we will see another David Wilson incident in that region at the start of any opening.

Carpe,
Try replacing them with cherry blossom trees, the scent when they bloom is sublime and when the petals begin to fall is a delight to see.

I adore Cherry Blossoms. Especially when they have created a huge canopy for picnicking under.

Sancho,
Whoa!
That will cost if you get someone in to do it.
Sancho’s first rule of tree felling.
If I can’t get my arms around it, call a tree feller fellah.

I am going to bring in the loppers. I can only take down saplings myself. I have had so many body parts replaced, rebuilt etc, I feel like the Bionic Woman. I will have them down over several years. First will be to strip the trunks up to five metres, mulch that, then take the top several metres off, mulch that. The trees will die over the next couple of years and I will be able to have them cut down a little more each year until they are gone. Even if I could afford it, the job would be too huge in one go and there would be nowhere to dump the timber. It would probably cover half an acre or more. There are about thirty trees. Bonus, lots of firewood!

“Sleeping Sun”

The sun is sleeping quietly
Once upon a century
Wistful oceans calm and red
Ardent caresses laid to rest

For my dreams I hold my life
For wishes I behold my night
The truth at the end of time
Losing faith makes a crime

I wish for this night-time
to last for a lifetime
The darkness around me
Shores of a solar sea
Oh how I wish to go down with the sun
Sleeping
Weeping
With you

Sorrow has a human heart
From my god it will depart
I’d sail before a thousand moons
Never finding where to go

Two hundred twenty-two days of light
Will be desired by a night
A moment for the poet’s play
Until there’s nothing left to say

Good on him.

You fellows got a good solid cheer from the crowd, too. Surprised me, since it’s definitely an allsorts assembly. Coming in from the side with a clearly-identifiable and well-behaved group is a smart move and a good look.

As for the sound system, it’s fine. Any louder and it just would deafen the crowd. Granted, some speakers positioned further down Bourke Street toward the back of the crowd would help. But the real problem is the people who are speaking – they can be heard, but many of them (ie most of the women) can’t be understood. They’re incoherent to start with, and ramble at pace in shrill dogwhistle-frequency Strine. Might as well be speaking in tongues. The boffins haven’t made a sound system that can fix it.

Also, I reckon 25k is very generous overestimate. That’s half the capacity of the MCG. I’d say somewhere closer to 5k is more credible. Happy to be corrected on that point, though. Still a great crowd, packed in tightly.

Bar Beach Swimmer
November 6, 2021 6:44 pm

I watched The McGregor Report on Sky last night. Senator Amanda Stoker from QLD was one of the guests. It was a discussion about the enabling legislation before the Victorian Upper House. It seems many, many Victorians have emailed the good Senator wanting the Federal Government to step in and do something.

While she has concerns, it seems she is more interested in the “careful what you wish for” scenario of the Commonwealth taking more powers away from the States, because citizens are best served by representatives closest to them. On that, that would be a reasonable position to take if we lived in reasonable times. But we don’t.

So her preference is to have the Victorians do something themselves and get rid of this bad government. But what does she suppose the public can do in this situation? The election is a year away; the Victorian Opposition is nothing special – has anyone down there heard from the Governor – and in the meantime the Andrews Government will more than likely get these powers.

Just to make sure that the principle and the reality of States’ right remain, it seems that she would prefer to have citizens detained indefinitely, more businesses closed and lockdowns all the way until election day.

Oh, and the Federal Government will not be challenging the closed borders in the High Court. None of these people live in the real world.
