Just reading the Wiki entry on Philip Wylie, he wrote Generation of Vipers, where he introduced the term Momism, as well as much else.

Salvatore, Understaffed & Overworked Martyr to Border Closure

The young women who hurled abuse at our local protest on Saturday (claiming to be mothers protecting their children) were highly organised and sang from the same song book.
Generally, they were consistently too young to be concerned Mums. Out of the local Uni I guess.

“Show us yer stretch marks!” …. usually sorts ’em out.
The response usually filters the real mums from the angry young women with no life experience but plenty of daddy issues.

At one stage he was reversing moderated comments only at times to be sin binned again. Wonder if he was leant by the DT on because he seemed to give up very quickly on that practise.

Honestly don’t know why he perseveres even with the money. He has enough of a profile to be easily snapped up by a bigger overseas player as Rita is starting to find and Miranda already found out.

There’s a third option between burial and cremation.

Aquamation is gaining popularity in the states which is some sort of poaching in a pod that turns you into goo. Then there are the green burials in California where you can be human composted, again in some sort of pod.

Omicron Forces Wave of Closures Nationwide as White House Warns ‘Winter of Death’ Coming

Salvatore, Understaffed & Overworked Martyr to Border Closure

Report on the Qld Vaxx mandate:
From my experience & chatting to industry colleagues, it seems indoor trade is down by about 60%
(numbers are rubbery, as there are a lot of variables)

The public are taking it well. Plenty are unhappy, a few disgruntled & even rude when showing us their vaccination status – (their ire is misdirected, as is explained in the industry signage most of us use)

The big surprise has been the sane attitude of the police. We were all on tenterhooks wondering how the cops would ambush us.
Hasn’t happened.

Police did at least one pub in town during the weekend, entered and made everybody show their papers. (That was the time, place, & people with which to be rude and hard to get along with when exposing under duress your vaccination status)

Has anyone heard of this?
Graphene based super and ultracapacitors could be used to smooth out voltage changes in wind and PV generators – replacing the turbine stabilising effect of the big coal/nuke plants.

It’s possible, just not financially sensible.

Big rotating plant (coal / nuke) provides the inertia to keep the transmission network stable for free, just comes as part of the deal. Also it is super reliable, just involves the existing copper coils and simple control systems.

The separate installations you mention would require huge electronic bidirectional inverters with very complex control systems, huge transient protection banks, and probably duplication of everything, to provide the requisite reliability. And all at massive ADDITIONAL cost, which provides no other benefits.

So if it was a straight engineering decision, then it would be an emphatic NO on cost/benefit grounds.

But as a deep green, bugman driven, political decision, it’s clearly a massive goer. Invest now, the returns to the investor class will be massive. To the rest of us, not so much.

Rex Anger

It’s the demand of the Australian consumer for top quality food at rock bottom prices.

And that there is a much greater export market for all Australian meat and the vast majority of its food products into Asia, Europe and evem the US than there ever will be here. Even for the crappier cuts and older animals we won’t touch.

Compound that with more faddish city demands like ‘free-range,’* ‘organic,’ ‘hormone-free’** and ‘farrowing ‘stall-free’*** that add dollars to the production price for still relatively little return to the farmer (and often no real discernible objective improvement in flavour or quality), and here is the problem that simple economics attempts to solve. Product A is too expensive, so Joe Consumer buys proportionally less of it and seeks to substitute it with Product B. If Product B is imported at a vastly discounted or subsidised price (Hi, Danish bacon, Egyptian jam and Italian tinned tomatoes!), then so be it…

* ‘Free-Range’ is an animal husbandry nightmare for normally intensivised livestock like chickens and pigs. Chooks are easy noms for anything that can jump or get under fences (assuming they do not then keep killing for fun after having eaten their fill), and pigs are natural bulldozers. Free-range pork production in Australia has seen all manner of dodginess, animal mismanagement and land degradation- Pigs are naturally destructive- That would never be suffered under any other agricultural or livestock enterprise.

** A emotive ideal based on mendacious misinformation about intensive livestock farming. Australian chicken and beef, etc. has never had growth hormones injected or adulterated into their feed.

*** More mendacious and emotive misinformation by animal rights activists, leading to otherwise avoidable piglet deaths by the mother crushing them when she rolls over.

As far as grid stabilisation goes, maybe all home solar installations require an electrically heated pool of some sort?

Solar panels effectively run at absolute maximum capacity when the sun is shining, and can only provide so much power for direct consumption at the time, or to charge a battery. To avoid overcharging the battery and wasting the solar cells’ ‘fuel’ materials, you would need a power sink, correct? Traditionally, this has been the electricity grid, leading to the dangerously cyclic nature of ‘renewable’ generation.

For a truly off-grid installation (which is the only one I personally find tolerable), an alternative power sink needs to be able to absorb everything the panels can provide, and more. Hence, an electrically heated pool.

Water will absorb a lot of heat, and as such consumes a vast amount of energy to keep at a particular temperature. Even a small wading/exercise pool should provide enough heat/power sinking to keep a representative solar installation fully absorbed.

All because of COVID forcing the rescheduling of games.

Three retired woke US Generals warned there could be a civil war and ‘another coup attempt’ after the 2024 presidential election because of a ‘politically divided military.’

“In this context, with our military hobbled and divided, US security would be crippled. Any one of our enemies could take advantage by launching an all-out assault on our assets or our allies,” they said.
The woke generals demanded all leaders of January 6 – including Trump – be harshly prosecuted and ‘brought to justice’ to prevent another so-called insurrection.

I think what they are trying to say is “If President Trump isn’t in jail, the Chinese will attack us.”

Sounds like David and his wife need to teach the children (and themselves) manners and the meaning of gratitude.

Shouldn’t read between the lines but David may have missed the “I don’t give a shit about Christmas or presents” gene in the Australian male or the wife is doing the very usual female trick “I’ll keep sweet with the family by blaming hubby”
Not good either way.

“It was the ballot harvesting (legalised by a GOP state house in Pennsylvania) that swung the state for Biden in 2020.
Anything to do with Dominion is a red herring & is just chewing up time & money.”

Correct. And the GOP (and Trump) were given plenty of warnings about this prior to November 2020.

They ignored the warnings….much like they ignored the warnings about big tech censorship back in 2017 and 2018…when they had control of both houses and were in a position to do something. They chose to to nothing.

I generally don’t comment on people’s families and so on, but it would certainly seem as though ‘David’ would greatly benefit from a tooth-rattling backhander. As mentioned above, the concept of presents apparently needs to be reinforced in certain quarters.

Disgusting state of affairs.

Perhaps if David were to be informed that if you wanted every single receiver of presents to get exactly the same thing, and if none of them had put any work in to receive said presents you would have bought everyone miniature Stalin busts.

A present censor. Unwrapping to see if it passed muster. Unbelievable.

On a side note, I used to know the Fairfield area really well. Have a sister who I think still lives there and I worked there at my first job out of high school. Stepping off the train at Fairfield Station at 7 in the morning was always interesting as the pub had 6 am opening. The amount of derros that were already drunk was rather alarming! The use of the term “partner” is oh so lefty acceptable these days. Get married and introduce the other half as partner gets you invited to all the best parties.
BUT two gay people get “married” and suddenly the highly acceptable term becomes “his husband” or “her wife”.
Hypocrites and language thieves.

People at the time of the SSM debate argued the freaks would not stop at SSM, a perversion of the language, but would continue into all areas of society. They were ignored or scorned. So now we have grotesque trannies with dildos on their heads reading porn to 5 year olds and men competing as women against women, birthing people, chest feeders and the rest of this insidious dismantling of the values of Western society.

At the time of the SSM debate I asked an (ex) gay friend why they were bothered since same sex relationships, as defacto relationships, had all the legal force of marriages between men and women. He said it was revenge, pure and simple.

Cassie, the Cult of Trump got out of hand. It was inevitable, as the vacuum for real, old-style leadership had remained for so long.

What he did was exceptional – he exposed all the depths of hatred and weirdness of lefties and the laziness and duplicity of the GOP. Look how the lot grew and bloomed in his four years. It took an avalanche of fraud to unseat him.

After just one year, the ground for conservative leadership is again fertile. Give it another three years and the electorate will be desperate for it. Trump is not the man for it – he will be too old, for a start. But he can provide excellent assistance if a new hopeful wants it.

Agree 100%, Cassie.

Trump has a fantastic natural empathy for middle America, which made him a political phenomenon for four years when he stormed into the White House as an outsider to fix Washington’s rampant corruption.

But, in spite of the industrial electoral cheating that removed him from office, all that is now in the past and he’s sounding like yesterday’s man.

His Achilles Heel is his planet-size ego that blinds him to the current political reality. Ron DeSantis is a far better candidate for 2024, largely because he doesn’t have any of the divisiveness that was essential to Trump’s ability to break through in 2016.

However, Trump remains the GOP’s most potent voter-turner-outer. If the GOP ensures the Dems’ electoral cheating can be pegged back to pre-2020 levels, DeSantis with Trump’s backing would easily win in 2024.

I just hope the Orange Idiot doesn’t spend another two years sulking about 2020.

Ultimately Trump the man doesn’t matter. He was a symbol of just how hacked off people are with career politicians. A multi billionaire playboy, real-estate mogul and reality TV star has almost nothing in common with the man on the street, but people voted for him. If that doesn’t show how fed up people were I don’t know what does.

To win the 2024 Presidential election, the Republicans need a leader who can motivate the army of grass-roots observers to man the ballot lines, man the counting rooms, man the delivery truck entrances, man the count screens- all the while recording everything and standing their ground if they’re attempted to be heavied out of the control rooms and screened out of the convention centres. Their leader will need to inspire ground troops enough to distribute their own mail-in ballots, it will need to have Joe Plumber brave enough to put the Red signs up on front lawns and pickup windows, will need to have red hats on heads and barnstormer speeches on everyone’s lips.
Only that sort of visibility will win the election, and be seen to have won the election..

Everything you wrote above is what the GOP did in Virginia a month ago under Youngkin and they did it in New Jersey….a Demonrat stronghold which they nearly won. What they did do? They did the following…

1. In Virginia the GOP had a candidate who was able to motivate an army of grass-roots observers to man the ballot lines, man the counting rooms, man the delivery truck entrances, man the count screens- all the while recording everything and standing their ground if they’re attempted to be heavied out of the control rooms and screened out of the convention centres.

2. The Demonrats tried their usual dirty stunts….such as the ludicrous Klan stunt a week or so before the polls. It backfired spectacularly. Youngkin kept his cool.

3. It is worth noting that Youngkin also kept his distance from Trump…whilst he didn’t malign Trump or pour cold water on him, he just didn’t want Trump around and that was wise….Youngkin needed disaffected blue and independent voters. He got them.

Your first point, Cassie.

In the end, it all comes down to citizen engagement in the process. The Dems worked that out and enlisted an army of howler monkeys to fortify pervert the result.

The GoP can do the same to preserve and protect it.

Boy oh boy do I hate our pollimuppetts. They say you shouldn’t hate, but when it’s focused and for good reason and it doesn’t eat you up, it’s acceptable. Anyway, when they despise and hold in contempt things you hold dear- the family suburban home, making things, growing food, digging up minerals, true scholarship- how could you not hate them.

Trump needs to be elected to reclaim the rightful victory that was stolen from him and the millions that voted for him.
He will win again with increasing
numbers.

Trump may then decide to retire and hand the job to someone capable like De Santis.

I still allow that the military will step in to right this ship of state.

How the FBI Became Politicised
Read all about it. Mueller, Comey & Co. This is just part of how the USA sank to the depths we now see.
Not least of acts was Mueller’s drawn out “inquiry” into the Russia Hoax. It helped the Demrats into House control in 2018.

Like many above, I don’t think Trump should run again. He has done plenty just by reminding people of that Republican Presidents don’t have to be Democrat hostages.

For decades it has been either Democrat President or a Republican who is absolutely captive to them. Clinton, Dubya, Bambi. It is not just the Presidents that won, but the ones that ran for President, like McCain and Romney.

Trump would still have a place as being able to give advice to Republicans – at least with regards to negotiation. That was one thing where Trump really shone thanks to his business experience.

Until Trump it was all Carrot and Stick. The stick was military or economic, and the carrot was giving away bits of American productivity (nobbling American industries to create niches for others) or even outright payment. And they always required an ongoing American involvement, and the other parties always knew they could squeeze a bit more out of America by threatening to walk away and denting American prestige.

Those peace deals Trump arranged in the ME with Israel, from what I could see, were brilliant. Both sides saw the advantage of peace with the other instead of requiring America to be guarantor.

More of this please!

I want Ron DeSantis to run and win.

I’m sure many Americans – especially those in Dem electorates – envy Floridians* for DeSantis’s total commitment to the people. He treats them like grownups, not naughty children to be rewarded or punished at his whim.

*I envy them, too.

Shatterzzz,
I love the Hallelujah Chorus. That was a great clip. The kids looked like they had a blast performing their routine.

Can anyone help? I am trying to locate a clip of the classical piece The Black Sabbath. One of the greatest and most rousing pieces of music I know. It has been used countless times in movies etc. I can’t find the correct term to use on you tube or google. All that comes up is the band, Black Sabbath. Any ideas? Even the composers name would be good. Many thanks in advance.

A Trump/De Santis ticket would win, and then Trump can hand over to De Santis when ready. Promote Cruz or Rand Paul into VP spot at that stage.

Trump has proved that you can bring different races together to build a fantastic coalition which is why the meja, big business and the ‘rats tried to start a race war. I still can’t get my head around big American companies being anti American. At least Coles purport to be pro Australian.

Grate news – Deadman rose from the coffin on Cassie’s thread!

We have sorely missed his incisive and definitive comments on matters grammatical, literary, et al. Please, please, stay around, Dedders. 🙂

Not so good news – the Primal Narcissist has realised that her sulking is not achieving anything (for the umpteenth time) and is sneaking back in because nobody is paying her any attention while she is holding her breath until she is blue. 🙁

Oh, well – one door closes, etc.

And, while we are doing personalia, Calli, loving your more feisty comments. You have a lot of credibility around here, good to see it not going to waste. I especially liked your comments on Cassie’s thread, which unfortunately I didn’t read until it was too late for me to chime in.

FWIIW, I absolutely agree that blaming everything on “feminism” is like blaming droughts on the Sun. Feminism has a long and complicated history, some of it good, some of it bad. I for one to not want to return to a world where women could not own property, or vote, or be raped if they were married, or get sacked from their jobs if they got married.

History is a much better teacher than talking points.

New Zealand officials announced on Monday that a 26-year-old’s death has been formally linked to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine after he suffered a rare heart inflammation following his first dose of the Covid jab.

It would assist comprehension if the media would treat ‘rare’ as they do ‘peaceful’ and precede it with the descriptor ‘mostly’.

This is the author who wonder’s why she can’t snag a long-term man for baby making.

Those articles of hers reminds me of why I don’t watch the UK “Live at the Apollo” comedy anymore.
It used to be brilliantly funny.
Now it’s just one act after another praising SSM and homosexuality, or punching hard on tradition and Brexit. Of course there are lots of coarse scenarios invented to boost the “jokes” as well.
The sexual aspect is so rampant the “comedians” don’t have time to declare their veganism.

My 8¢ worth, all in one day:

First look at Japanese Hayabusa2 asteroid sample indicates Ryugu is similar to Earth’s rarest meteorites

…infrared scans by Dr Yada’s team and another team led by Cedric Pilorget at the University of Paris-Saclay confirmed the sample was rich in hydrated minerals and clays, and carbon.

The presence of clay on a little space rock is intriguing (to tragic Earth Science wonks).

Normally (on Earth) clays are formed by the weathering of aluminium silicate rock – ie the rock is formed by a first process and then transformed into clay by a prolonged exposure to mobile water.

Which begs the question: where, and in what environment, did Ryugu form?

Cassie, I’m not fixed on De Santis necessarily (although he’s very good) but agree that Trump should step aside. Frankly, he’s too old. The gerontocracy that has dominated recent American politics is well past its use-by date.

Time to get some fresh blood, fresh energy and fresh faces into the mix.

I say this as a wrinklie who knows that I am not as strong, resilient and flexible (in every sense) as I used to be. And, I’m younger than Trump, and not looking at possibly the most demanding job on the planet.
