there are internet gulags, where you’ll be locked out of any mainstream social media platform

That happened to me in a minor way.
A sports blog I follow allowed a non-sport thread on Covid.
I was the only one arguing against lockdowns and vax mandates, and I promoted vaccine hesitancy.
Factual arguments were spurned so I started using humour.
I’ve been banned because I put up a cartoon of Fauci’s face on a “Missing person” milk carton.

Frustrating because I miss the sport banter. There, opposing views are welcomed. The covid narrative however brooks no opposition.

However, the Welsh government-sponsored NMW has now pledged to “explore how the slave trade linked and fed into the development of the steam and railway infrastructure in Wales” as they conduct a woke audit their collection — which could lead to the placement of a disclaimer next to their engine replica dubiously connecting it to the slave trade.

What lunacy is this? Steam replaced women and children dragging coal out of mines along tracks, as well as horses doing the job later. The slavery of industrial workers is barely recognised in the full on US-style tilt against negro plantation slavery. The world, as noted by John Cleese before he was howled down recently, has always had invasions and slave-taking. This is all part of the anti-coal media-fed conspiracy.

You rarely hear trainers talking so confidently ahead of big races: On racing radio in Melbourne this morning, Sydney-based Pommy import Anabel Neasham says Zaaki is “bucking his brands off” and is the one to beat in tomorrow’s $5 million All-Star Mile at Flemington.

Zaaki is the $3.40 favourite – generous odds with Jamie Kah on his back. Barrier 15 sounds like it’s in the car park, but it simply allows Kah to avoid the traffic as she gets Zaaki rolling on the Flemington back straight.

while they stomp the state boot onto our faces.

The stomping used to be quiet and surreptitious. Insert a fellow traveller into this university department head role, a top marketing position in a public company, left wing text books placed in schools, woke training courses in the armed services.
In short, the long march through the institutions.
That war having been won by the radical left, they can now posture their jackboot stomping for all to see and cower.
The Times “Fortify the election” article was a deliberate and overt challenge to any remaining conservatives to expose themselves and then be shot down.
Perrotet’s admission that QR coding and school child RAT testing were Kubuki Theatre collaborated on between Dicktator Dan and himself is the most recent example of public jackboot stomping.

Thank heavens we have conservative governments in Canberra and NSW to protect us from such totalitarianism.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse:

Oh Saint Patrick he drove out the snakes
With his prayers but that’s not all it takes
For the snake symbolizes
An evil that rises
And hides in your heart
As it breaks
And the evil has risen my friends
From the darkness that lives in some men
But in sorrow and fear
That’s when saints can appear
To drive out those old snakes once again
And they struggle for us to be free
From the psycho in this human family
Ireland’s sorrow and pain
Is now the Ukraine
And Saint Patrick’s name now Zelensky

The Welsh ‘government’ is a classic example of the risks of imposed self government, and more so of the consequences of electorate indifference.
At devolution, a few school teachers joined up with a possee of Welsh nationalist nutters and were elected with a handful of votes, because the electorate ignored the election.
They immediately set about passing laws that make them invulnerable. Wales is now a Marxist led state.
Political indifference is criminal.

Then again, turning down working every day with Felicity Kendal!

To The Manor Born star Peter Bowles has died from cancer at the age of 85, his agent has revealed today, after an astonishing 66-year career where he became Britain’s most famous and loved ‘archetypal English gent’.

The actor starred in the BBC hit show from 1979 to 1981, playing Richard DeVere alongside Penelope Keith in the smash-hit sitcom, which had audiences of more than 20million for all of its twenty-one episodes. 27million watched the final show – a record only eclipsed by Only Fools and Horses in 1996.

Announcing his death in a statement, his agent said: ‘The actor Peter Bowles has sadly passed away at the age of 85 from cancer. Starting his career at the Old Vic Theatre in 1956, he starred in 45 theatrical productions ending at the age of 81 in The Exorcist at the Phoenix Theatre.

‘He worked consistently on stage and screen, becoming a household name on TV as the archetypal English gent in To The Manor Born, Only When I Laugh, The Bounder and Lytton’s Diary, which he devised himself. He leaves his wife of over 60 years, Sue, and their three children Guy, Adam and Sasha.’

Mr Bowles’ big breakthrough on To The Manor Born came more than 20 years after his career began with RADA at the Old Vic, with the sitcom about an upper-class woman and her nouveau riche businessman husband making him a household name overnight. He reprised the role of Mr DeVere during an hour long 2007 special, in which the two charters celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, and he and his co-star were lifelong friends.

Famously, in 1974, he had turned down the role of Jerry in The Good Life, which made stars of Richard Briers, Felicity Kendal, Paul Eddington and Ms Keith, claiming that he didn’t want to be ‘tied down’ to a BBC series.

Mr Bowles built a reputation for being a suave leading man, often with a trademark moustache and wooing ladies. He also played smooth villains in several TV series, including The Avengers and The Saint. He was still working until before the pandemic, starring in a stage production of The Exorcist aged 81, declaring proudly at the time he was the ‘oldest man to star above the title in British theatrical history’.

Handsome and always impeccably dressed, even in his later years, he put his good health down to 20 minutes of weight-training every day into his 80s.

To the Manor Born is hardly about “an upper-class woman and her nouveau riche businessman husband”. It’s more “recently impoverished upper-class snooty woman tries desperately to regain position by wooing working class millionaire who’s just bought her house”.

From Trialsitenews.
The massive number of all pandemic deaths shows how totally ineffective all actions by governments and public health groups, as well as the medical establishment, have been. It has all been one gigantic pandemic blunder.

Even if there was some undercounting of COVID infection deaths, there probably was at least 10 million pandemic deaths in the two years covered in this study that can and should be blamed on a number of ineffective and unnecessary public health actions. Where is the accountability for these non-infection deaths?

Considering the enormous number of COVID vaccine shots given globally there also should be no praise for them saving lives. In some countries like the US with high rates of vaccination there were still high COVID deaths. What must always be emphasized is that the use of ivermectin and various non-vaccine protocols could have prevented nearly all COVID infection deaths.

Dr. Joel S. Hirschhorn, author of Pandemic Blunder and many articles and podcasts on the pandemic, worked on health issues for decades, and his Pandemic Blunder Newsletter is on Substack.

The only question now, considering their recent track record of election rigging, is how many million USDs Mark Zuckerberg’s underlings will allocate to ensuring Sims’ replacement stops pursuing them for breaches of Australian law:

The ACCC has instituted Federal Court proceedings against Facebook owner Meta Platforms, Inc. and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (together: Meta) alleging that they engaged in false, misleading or deceptive conduct by publishing scam advertisements featuring prominent Australian public figures.

The ACCC alleges that this conduct was in breach of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act (ASIC Act).

From The Oz.

It says a lot about Wong’s character that she would raise the issue of Kitching not having children. The bottom line is that Wong, Keneally and Gallagher are grubs…but we all know that.

“Wong, Gallagher, Keneally respond to bullying claim

Opposition foreign affairs spokeswoman Penny Wong has admitted she raised Kimberley Kitching’s lack of children during a meeting in 2019.

In a joint statement issued with opposition finance spokeswoman Katie Gallagher and opposition home affairs spokeswoman Kristina Keneally – tagged the “mean girls” club by Kitching – Senator Wong said she had apologised for her comments after they were first raised publicly two years ago.

“After these matters were publicly reported more than two years ago, Senator Wong discussed the matter with Senator Kitching and apologised. Senator Wong understood that apology was accepted,” the statement read.

The comments that have been reported do not reflect Senator Wong’s views, as those who know her would understand, and she deeply regrets the pain these reports have caused.

But the trio rejected allegations of bullying as “untrue”, labelling other assertions made as “similarly inaccurate”.

They will all attend Senator Kitching’s funeral.

As revealed by The Australian, Senator Wong called into question Kitching’s advice due to her lack of children.

“Well, if you had children, you might understand why there is a climate emergency,” Wong reportedly said.

Ukraine conflict: Putin lays out his demands in Turkish phone call

The Russian demands fall into two categories.

Chief among them is an acceptance by Ukraine that it should be neutral and should not apply to join Nato. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has already conceded this.

Ukraine would have to undergo a disarmament process to ensure it wasn’t a threat to Russia.

There would have to be protection for the Russian language in Ukraine.

And there is something called de-Nazification.

So, aside from the NATO issue, gimmes, largely for Russian domestic consumption.

The second category is where the difficulty will lie, and in his phone call, Mr Putin said that it would need face-to-face negotiations between him and President Zelensky before agreement could be reached on these points. Mr Zelensky has already said he’s prepared to meet the Russian president and negotiate with him one-to-one.

Mr Kalin was much less specific about these issues, saying simply that they involved the status of Donbas, in eastern Ukraine, parts of which have already broken away from Ukraine and stressed their Russianness, and the status of Crimea.

So, the Black Sea coast and a Russian land bridge to the Crimea. Presumably the guts of the whole adventure.

Roger
Roger
March 18, 2022 12:24 pm

The Russian demands fall into two categories.

While the West has put Zelensky on a pedestal, his situation in Ukraine is rather more constrained by domestic realities, his leadership during the war notwithstanding .

There are forces in Ukraine that he has little or no control over, which goes some way to explaining why he never managed to get Ukraine to honour the Minsk Protocols.

Even if he gives Putin what he wants, the latter would likely face some sort of insurgency in eastern Ukraine for years to come, hence the request for “deNazification.” Good luck!

Wong, Keneally and Gallagher. A very ugly trio.

They are particular sorts of feminists of the left, exclusionary and at best patronising of any woman who doesn’t feel their feelz and live their lifestyles. It’s the lifestyle that matters, where the circuitry of interaction is constantly limited to those ‘in the know’. I have great sympathy for Kimberley Kitching having to deal with them in the course of her political duties. I have every idea of the disloyalty twists they would put on whatever she said, of the condescention that would skate over her opinions and suggestions, of the various ways in which she would be excluded from important decision-making that due to the senior position she held she had every right to be present for, and at the general fervor against her that would be whipped up because she was ‘not one of us’.

She was pushing the proverbial uphill as a Senator in that context. Her wide group of friends beyond the inner-sanctum circle would have infuriated them.

None of the usual suspects in my Faculty came to my retirement afternoon-tea, although a lot more than fifty people from the wider university and other friendly associates turned up in droves.

That is a very good question. I don’t know of anyone who would be able to pull back from the brink the way the US is now. It’s pretty clear now that there is a power behind the throne somewhere, so I suppose the question will be more who they can manipulate or control while still having enough appeal to quiet down the internal problems. Harris/Pelosi/etc. are definitely not that.
On the other hand it might go full on accelerationist. Civil unrest/war, massive crackdowns on those to the right of the current administration. Bit hard to pick. Or it might just be they are retarded muppets and really do think they’re doing a good job.

I note the silence of Hanson-Dung and Steggall re. I have just spied an enormous lace monitor in next door’s melaleucas.

They’re gorgeous. Once we were on hols and a lace monitor decided to check out our tinny, which was on its trailer. Bit of serious climbing to get into the boat on the trailer, but the smell of fish was irresistible.

At which time we returned to the camp. Lace monitor went oh shit and levitated itself out of the boat and straight into a two man tent.

Off I go into tent. Goanna is tearing apart our bedding and climbing the sides trying to escape. They aren’t especially bright. At last with a bit of chivvying the poor thing found the door and left rapidly for the bush.

My reptilian story is from yesterday. Whilst riding treadly past the golf course, here’s a pretty green tree snake climbing the netting the council had thoughtfully provided to stop golf balls bouncing off our bike helmets. Full grown with electric-blue scales along her back. I stopped a metre away and admired her until she got scared and climbed down the mesh and slid over to a ti tree on the edge of the fairway.

We have quite a few of the olive tree snakes here, or maybe it’s just the one shedding its skin often. I have a number put aside for the grandies for “show and tell” at school.

It likes to live in the courtyard, but in winter will climb into the warm gutter. The courtyard has a couple of frog ponds so an endless source of food. We used to have a colony of the tiny green tree frogs, but Mrs Snake has eaten them all.

I don’t know much about Gallagher…although the few times I’ve watched her I’ve found her to be a mediocrity

This is the woman who wore full PPE to attend to her teenage daughter when she got the spicy cough last year, then told everyone about it on local radio to get some sympathy.

The sisterhood is selective, very selective.

Yes. And we all know that but I wonder how many ordinary women out there in employment land are really aware of much else but the Grace Tame sort of stuff – that men are awful in politics to women and women in politics and parliament are oppressed, and most of all that Scott Morrison is a woman-hater who must go. In other words, the whipped up narrative of you-go-girl.

The only hope in countering this is that the ‘mean girls’ narrative gets traction with other women, and here I am hopeful, because many women have experienced ‘mean girls’ from school and workplaces. They may see Labor’s mean girls as having contributed to parliamentary chaos rather than it being a simple equation of men bad, women good. If only the Liberals could make more of how Labor’s mean girls have dissed some very good Liberal women and driven them from politics. Liberal political women seem to be less typecast than Labor’s and this might also help show up the tight female Labor cliques for the unpleasant cabals that they are.

Lithium May Decrease Risk of Developing Dementia

It definitely has some neuroprotective properties. The therapeutic dose for bipolar is so very close to the toxicity limit for kidney damage. Lithium in the water supply correlates with lower suicide risk. Mechanism of action poorly understood but it is known to boost a key neuroprotective factor, brain derived neurotrophic factor, which is often depleted in neurodegenerative conditions.

It can’t be purchased in Aus but can be purchased through iHerb. For regular use follow the dosage on the bottle because that is so low it presents no health risk but for myself and it provides pleasant dreams.

Hmmm …

This might become interesting. I have a suspicion that ever increasing numbers of people will refuse booster jabs. Governments could find themselves in real trouble if they attempt to enforce restrictions on those who refuse boosters. I’d rather contract omicron, which appears almost inevitable anyway, than face the prospect of a booster every 3-6 months.

Just. Don’t.

I feel sorry for the ones who are made to do it by their employers – aged care is an example. Even if you have zero contact with patients and work in admin. And have already contracted and recovered from Covid.

It is utterly insane and malignant.

Protests as transgender swimmer Lia Thomas powers to US college crown

By Agencies
AFP
An hour ago March 18, 2022

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas shrugged off protesters as she powered to a historic victory in the 500-yard freestyle at the US collegiate championships in Atlanta on Thursday in the latest milestone of her controversial career.

The University of Pennsylvania swimmer became the first transgender athlete to win a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) top tier title after touching the wall in 4mins 33.24secs, more than a second-and-a-half clear of Virginia’s Emma Weyant, who finished in 4:34.99.

Erica Sullivan, a silver medallist in the 1500m at the Tokyo Olympics last year, was third in 4:35.92.

Thomas has dominated US collegiate women’s swimming recently as a student athlete at Penn, where just a few years ago she competed as a man.

Sky News host Rita Panahi says female competitors and swim teams would send a “powerful message” by… refusing to compete against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas. Ms Panahi said Lia Thomas was a “mediocre swimmer in the men’s team” but she is now “smashing records in the women’s competition”. More

Her case has divided opinion, with some — including several teammates — arguing she has an unfair physiological advantage and should be barred from competing, while others say she should be allowed to compete freely as a woman.

Before Thursday’s meet, a small number of protesters gathered outside the venue to demonstrate against Thomas’s participation, waving banners that read “Support Fair Sports for Women and Girls” and “Stand Up 4 Women.”

“Mean Girls”, anyone?

Probably done the rounds, but just in case…

March 16 (Reuters) – An Illinois appeals court on Wednesday ordered the release of actor Jussie Smollett from jail while the one-time star of the TV drama “Empire” appeals his conviction for staging a hate crime against himself.

The 2-1 ruling by a three-judge panel noted that Smollett’s conviction was for a non-violent offense and said he could be released upon posting a $150,000 recognizance bond. It was unclear when Smollett might walk free.

Smollett has spent six nights in jail since a Cook County judge sentenced him to 150 days of confinement plus 30 months of probation, ordered him to pay over $120,000 in restitution, and fined him $25,000.

In December a jury found Smollett, 39, guilty of five counts of disorderly conduct for falsely telling police he was accosted on a dark Chicago street by two masked strangers in a racist and homophobic attack in January 2019. The investigation revealed that Smollett, who is Black and gay, paid two men to stage the attack.

Despite maintaining his innocence, Smollett lost his role as a singer-songwriter in the final season of “Empire,” a Fox television hip-hop drama that ended a five-year run in 2020.

A Republican Senate MUST hold hearings with all 50 of the people who signed that letter 3 weeks before the 2020 campaign. They all said Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. And they didn’t have a single piece of intel to suggest it.

“Has there been further developments?”

Well, aside from the already mentioned “lynching” of the owner of the repair shop, it is perhaps pertinent to point out that the New York Slimes has quietly backtracked a little and is now saying “There is no evidence it [the laptop and emails therein] is ‘Russian disinformation’”, as opposed to their previous stand of “There’s no evidence it is real” (which, in fact, there was and is, and they not only knew it, they tracked it down themselves).

Struth

You weighed up the prose and cons, and said, fuck everyone else, I’m not losing my union job, and fuck Australia, and fuck freedom.
As long as I got my job.
And now you are blaming those that didn’t act like you of being lazy slobs eating your taxes.

It’s undeniable that a lot were forced to have the jab, I mean literally forced through the need to hold a job or via family pressure, these people are seething for the most part.

Many had them because they felt genuinely at risk.

It’s also true that way too many took the jab because they wanted to “be able to go to the club”.
In my opinion it’s these people who pushed the rate to 70%+ which, as Mater first posited, gave the psychopaths in power the political capital to cram down the mandates and segregation etc etc. They were just itching to do it.
To these people, of whom I have met more than I would like, I have a mixture of scorn and sympathy and inwardly shake my head.

To those who were one way or the other forced; don’t worry, at least you know what is right.

Sounds like they are leaning more towards “severity of sentence” than quashing the conviction.
And …

Despite maintaining his innocence, Smollett lost his role as a singer-songwriter in the final season of “Empire,” a Fox television hip-hop drama that ended a five-year run in 2020.

Maybe it had run it’s course but it is probable his histrionics killed off a bunch of jobs of actors and crew on “Empire”.
