Never fall afoul of the Country Women’s Association. They have an appetite for intrigue and plotting that the Borgia Popes would envy, and an intelligence network that would make MOSSAD look like rank amateurs.

Rosie.
I don’t know how these blood ‘n guts Missions continued as long as they did (I think it must have been late ’70’s before they petered out).
Pretty sure they drove more people away from the church than they attracted. I think the objective was for the devout to shame the lapsed into turning up for a dose of even more shaming.
I vaguely remember public attacks on the strays from pulpit.
Disgusting stuff, really.
They obviously weren’t avid readers of the Prodigal Son tale.

I was aware of the dedication to the Immaculate Heart of Mary from this morning and knew it was for Russia and Ukraine which is not what the misleading Church Militant news headlines said.

As I understand it, you’re allowed to use Novovax for primary shots or for boosters but not for both.

This is news to me.
Not saying it is incorrect.
Just when it was first approved it was only for #1 and #2.
Never going to be for boosters.

Tim I was quoting actual novavax reasons provided here.
Anyone currently getting novavax for the first time wouldn’t be in need of a booster for the foreseeable future would they?

What makes you think that? I don’t know what they’re claiming, but if some spike proteins vaxxes don’t give lasting immunity why should we assume that another one will?
I don’t really understand the spike protein argument, if you get covid you get extra plus spike protein don’t you?
As I understand it, the vaxxes are pretty massive doses of the spike proteins. How much exposure you have to spike proteins from covid itself depends on, firstly, whether you catch it, and secondly how severe the case is. In any case, the vaxxes don’t stop you getting covid. Remember, by not getting vaxxed you’ve got a 99%+ chance of not getting killed by covid and a 100% chance of not getting killed by the vaxx.
And hasn’t Andrews abandoned generalised booster requirements?
He hasn’t introduced them yet. It will, of course, be a political calculation. If as the weather gets cooler we get more “cases”, and more covid-attributed hospitalisations, ICU admissions and deaths, Dan will gauge the hysteria against the resentment against compulsion, and if hysteria has more votes in marginal seats Dan will introduce booster mandates and no doubt many other regulations.

novavax boosters approved, from another horse’s mouth

Thanks rosie, I was a fortnight behind in my info.
Not sure exactly what’s meant by the link. ATAGI have “recommended” it can be used as a booster “if no other vaccine is suitable”, but they’re only an advisory body and the TGA haven’t yet actually approved it as a booster at all. So it seems still to be in limbo – but it can presumably be expected that the TGA will eventually approve it. Quite what “suitable” means though remains to be seen if and when the TGA does pick up the ATAGI recommendation.

Following the Ben Roberts Smith action – who nominated him for the V.C?

Here’s a guess:
There were 2 guys in the incident Roberts Smith was Awarded VC for.
The other guy was recommended for the VC.
When the recommendation got further up the Hierarchy, someone there
said to his fellows
“Hey, why don’t we kill 2 birds with one stone?
We’ll award Roberts Smith the VC, that brings him back to Australia and he stops being a problem.”

PS rosie, via the link ATAGI does discuss the possibility of using Novavax as a booster for Novavax primary vaxxed, which suggests that boosters will be needed by Novavax primary vaxxed. Interestingly ATAGI don’t seem keen on the idea, though they don’t rule it out.

Very sad this is happening more often.

NSW Health is reporting seven people dead with COVID-19; four women and three men.
One person in their 40s,
one person in their 50s,
two were in their 70s,
two were in their 80s and one person was in their 90s.

Of the people aged over 65, one person had received four doses of the vaccine, two people had received three doses of vaccine, and two people had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The two people under 65 who died had both received three lots of the vax.

If this was any other vax, the TGA would have recalled the vaccines by now and pit a stop to this insanity.

Despatches from the COVID wars in McGoonistan:

First, the Chief Health Officer has refused a permit for a swimming race between Fremantle and Rottnest, because (to quote the report in the West Australian) “the State Government believes swimmers without masks could pose a COVID threat”. But: it is OK for 30,000 people to half fill Optus for a football match.

Second, the local medical practice has instituted procedures which might be appropriate during an outbreak of the Black Death – you make your appointment online, when you arrive in your car, you ring reception to let them know that you are there, and when the doctor is able to see you, a receptionist phones you and tells you that you can come in. She remains in the waiting room behind a floor to ceiling Perspex screen, so that you won’t infect her.

Re Novavax: I have had to cave in to pressure from family and friends over my refusal to be Jabbed, I have tried to explain to them that the RNA vaccines may be more dangerous to you than the disease itself, but to no avail, I think that most of them get their information from TV and the West Australian, both sources are adamant that Jabbing is essential. Mr MacGoon has said that boosters may be necessary for seven to ten years. I have chosen the Novavax as the least dangerous option but, as someone has said on this thread, I would prefer a 100% chance of surviving without being jabbed, to a 99% chance of surviving COVID.

I still use many of her recipes: her tomato sauce, plum sauce (which my kids call Emma P’s rocket fuel,) Christmas cake, date loaf and various jams. She also had recipes for amonia biscuits, cough medicine, floor and furniture polish, poultices, shampoo and soap.

Later in the book, her copperplate handwriting is interrupted by a child’s scrawl. My mother’s. Both gone now – Emma just in her thirties, leaving her young daughter to the care of her father, grandmother and eight adoring aunts.

I still get misty-eyed every time I open that little book.

Federal election: Anthony Albanese to shuffle frontbench in wake of victory

exclusive
Geoff Chambers
Chief Political Correspondent
Political Editor
An hour ago March 16, 2022
21 Comments

Kristina Keneally and Brendan O’Connor have been tipped to move out of the Home Affairs and Defence portfolios after the May federal election, with Anthony Albanese expected to tweak his Cabinet line-up if Labor wins.

Senator Keneally, installed as Labor’s candidate in the safe Sydney seat of Fowler following a messy Senate preselection battle, is likely to shift into a high-profile frontline economic portfolio.

After failing at the 2017 Bennelong by-election to move into the lower house, the ambitious former NSW premier is expected to comfortably win Fowler, which was vacated by retiring Labor MP Chris Hayes.

Labor, national security and diplomatic sources said they understood a shakeup of national security portfolios was on the cards, including moving cyber security into cabinet, with Mr Albanese seeking to achieve the “right balance” across his senior team.

Mr Albanese’s office on Wednesday would not comment on whether he intended to keep the same team in place after the election but a senior Labor source told The Australian that “none of us are getting ahead of ourselves”.

In last year’s shadow cabinet reshuffle, Labor deputy leader Richard Marles moved out of Defence after 4½ years into a newly created super portfolio including national reconstruction, employment, skills and small business.

With national security emerging as a key political battleground amid unprecedented geostrategic competition in the Indo-Pacific, Mr Marles is considered to have the experience and “hawkish credentials” to lead Labor’s Defence agenda.

Since taking over as opposition home affairs and immigration spokeswoman following the 2019 election, Senator Keneally has led Labor attacks on the Coalition over its indefinite detention of the Murugappan family, politicisation of national security, handling of the Novak Djokovic visa and rising numbers of asylum seekers arriving by plane.

Labor’s deputy leader in the Senate, whose entry into the shadow cabinet was fast-tracked by Mr Albanese, took on additional responsibilities in January last year after being appointed opposition spokeswoman for government accountability.

Labor sources said Senator Keneally would represent one of Australia’s most multicultural seats if she wins Fowler.

“Home Affairs is important. It will be given top priority. Kristina has very publicly said she is happy to serve in the role. But there will be consideration as to where she best benefits a Labor government,” a senior source said.

Despite Mr Albanese and Mr O’Connor, 60, not being close, senior Labor figures have been pleased with the Victorian MPs’ performance in the Defence portfolio. But it is understood to be increasingly likely Mr Marles could reclaim the job given the importance of the AUKUS agreement and nuclear submarine program.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has attacked both Senator Keneally and Mr O’Connor in recent months as part of the Coalition’s strategy to paint Labor as being “weak on national security”. Mr Albanese is understood to be cognisant of ensuring a strong national security team and bipartisan positions on major defence and national security policy.

Labor and the Coalition face generational renewal in senior ranks next term, with seven shadow cabinet and cabinet members aged over 60. The youngest members in cabinet positions across both parties are Amanda Rishworth, 43, Jim Chalmers, 44 and Terri Butler, 44; Alex Hawke, 44, David Littleproud, 45, and Simon Birmingham, 47.

Labor and Coalition sources said that in the event of an election defeat, the losing party would experience considerable turnover in senior positions and the early retirements of some veteran MPs and senators.

Got the removal truck booked already……

The recording, obtained by The Epoch Times, captured two seventh-grade teachers, Kelly Baraki and Lori Caldeira from Buena Vista Middle School in Salinas, Calif., telling other teachers how to recruit students into LGBTQ clubs, also known as “Gay-Straight Alliance” (GSA) clubs, at school.

“It was horrifying to listen to not just one teacher but really all of the teachers in all of these seminars, excoriating parents,” said the source, who goes by the pseudonym Rebecca Murphy.

Murphy attended the California Teachers Association (CTA) conference in late October. She told The Epoch Times the teachers “mocked” parents for their concerns, and suggested they know better than parents about what’s best for their children.

“They laughed at the parents,” Murphy said.
The sold-out CTA conference, billed as the “2021 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference, Beyond the Binary: Identity & Imagining Possibilities,” was held Oct. 29 to 31.

The CTA has hosted similar “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” (SOGI) professional development training for at least the last two years, according to an event notice posted on the United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA) website, which asks teachers: “Do you have the courage to create a safe environment that fosters bravery to explore sexual orientation, gender identity and expressions?”

However, according to Murphy, the purpose of conference in Palm Springs appeared to be about teachers showing other teachers how to undermine the authority of parents and school administrators and conceal activities related to gender inclusion and sexual orientation from them.

See the whole story here:

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/they-laughed-parents-leaked-audio-reveals-how-california-teachers-recruit-kids-lgbtq-clubs

The three classes Murphy attended were designed to recruit middle school students to GSA clubs, she said.

The sold-out CTA conference, billed as the “2021 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference, Beyond the Binary: Identity & Imagining Possibilities,” was held Oct. 29 to 31.

No-one has come out of the testimonies or cross examinations thus far looking particularly good, but if this is the best a decade of ‘actual’ criminal investigation and media-driven innuendo has got us to, then extending the man the benefit of a doubt for the time being seems quite reasonable.

Yuendumu trial: Electoral rolls key to Indigenous jurors

Jill Rowbotham
Legal Affairs Correspondent
An hour ago March 16, 2022

Labor legal affairs spokesman Mark Dreyfus has called for a concerted effort to get more Indigenous people on to the nation’s electoral rolls, an essential step in becoming eligible to sit on juries, where they are under-represented.

His comments followed calls to reform jury selection after Northern Territory police officer Zachary Rolfe was acquitted of charges arising from the 2019 shooting death of Kumanjayi Walker.

After the trial, Warlpiri elders said the jury had not included any noticeably Aboriginal people.

“The best way to tackle this is for the commonwealth to be doing much more to raise the level of Indigenous electoral enrolment,” Mr Dreyfus said on Wednesday.

He said juries were meant to represent their local community.

“Unfortunately, as we know, there is significant under-enrolment of Indigenous people in the Northern Territory, and as such they are under-represented in jury pools,” Mr Dreyfus said.

Sancho, the age of reason in Aristotelian and Jesuitical terms was considered to be arrived at by the age of seven. (The ‘Seven Up’ series is something of an exploration of this.) Hence the missions were very much in keeping with the societal norms, even if looking back people now think otherwise. Relatively speaking, 35 or thereabouts as the current age of reason is no more tenable than that of 7 as the age of reason.

Fr. Altman: Bishops have ‘redefined and weaponized’ the meaning of obedience to silence criticism
Fr. James Altman, the well known ‘canceled’ priest and co-host of LifeSite’s latest show Faith & Reason, gave an impassioned speech at the Bringing America Back to Life Convention this past Friday.
Tue Mar 15, 2022 – 2:38 pm EDT

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (LifeSiteNews) — Fr. James Altman, the well known “canceled” priest and co-host of LifeSite’s latest show Faith & Reason, gave an impassioned speech at the Bringing America Back to Life Convention this past Friday.

Receiving enthusiastic cheers when the emcee mentioned his name, as well as a standing ovation when he took stage, Fr. Altman launched into a scathing criticism of Catholic bishops in a talk titled “Obedience to God, Not Man.”

The object of Altman’s ire were bishops who’ve “redefined and weaponized” the meaning of priestly obedience. He called out by name Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Bishop Christopher Coyne, and Bishop William Callahan, the latter of whom removed Fr. Altman from his parish in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Quoting St. Maximilian Kolbe, Altman clarified that priests promise to obey their bishops in all matters except when they “command something that is in even the slightest way a contravention of God’s law.”

“Monsters in miters have changed the apostolic definition of obedience and then weaponized it to silence all criticism and cancel priests and now even bishops on a regular basis,” he said.

Altman added that bishops cannot be “obeyed” when they demand their priests get injected with the abortion-tainted COVID vaccine, as well as when they threaten to punish them for speaking out too strongly against the vaccine, COVID restrictions, and the pro-abortion platform of the Democratic Party.

He also laid into bishops who kept the faithful away from the sacraments during the pandemic, who let pro-abortion politicians commit sacrilege by receiving Holy Communion, and who have failed to adequately teach the faithful right from wrong.

“Damnation awaits every single bishop whose silence is complicity,” Altman said. “Silence is complicity. Silence in the face of evil is evil itself. So like St. Peter before the Sanhedrin, we must say boldly, ‘Obey God before man.’”

The last time I did a winery-esque thing that was not a badly-organised RPH Staff Amenities Fund activity,* it was to New Norcia about 8 years ago. I came away with a very nice port, and relieved I had only consumed a single glass of their ale. That stuff went down like a lager, and had the punch of an IPA. Lovely stuff, but not when you have to drive…

* A rather bemused Anger was roped into directing people to the correct boat at South Perth Jetty, then the coaches, and spent the rest of the day being repeatedly mistaken for the person in charge. It did not help that I was A) sober, B) looked like I knew what was going on, and C) the lady who had done the organising started the day utterly clueless and finished it 3 sheets and spinnaker to the wind. I’m remembering one where a group of New Zealanders – none of who was sober – danced the haka in the aisle, and another, where three ladies of apparently respectable appearance danced a can – can……there were several hearty masculine cheers…….

Friend of mine used to be a “hostess” on one of the more popular Swan River winery tour boats. She said going up river was reasonably sedate … but going back down after bellyfuls of wine and food was a totally different experience!

She’s being polite- On this tour I refer to, ‘our’ boat was delayed getting in, and some folks charged clean past me, got on the boat intended for another group and were several hastily skolled glasses in before they got chased off.

Catallaxy could look at itself regarding bullying and ‘mean girls’. I am a decent woman with a reasonable sense of humour and many life experiences, but I was subject to one female’s constant bullying for years, which more recently became generalised in some sort of mounting madness, with no protection offered to me at all. Johanna’s ‘Rat with a gold tooth’, and Pogria’s pile-on then with the ‘Florence’ piece about a loony wealthy wanna-be opera singer were just a part of the general undercurrent of confected memes of denigration against me. All in all I have received very unfair harassment indeed here for doing no more than commenting in ways that many others did, and still do, and definitely from a non-left perspective. I think in the most recent period the level of abuse I received was one of the things that saw me over that period in Emergency at the Prince of Wales with a suspected heart attack in the early hours at 4am. A stress reaction complicating other factors.

Kimberley Kitchen’s death might give some people here pause to re-think their behaviours. Some things have consequences. Calli is much loved and appreciated here and deserves an apology for one rude comment. Even if I was neither of those things, I still deserve an apology too for ongoing and continual harassment, for I was a genuine contributor here, driven out by ridiculous upticking pile-ons and nastiness. Inexcusable, so no excuses should follow. Perhaps some lessons learned though.

Catallaxy is finished for me now but the treatment I received here will not be forgotten. I will write and publish analytically about it elsewhere, not necessarily in Quadrant, in a piece on internet bullying when my anger and sadness has dissipated, for it was a disgrace – the right is just as adept as the left at eating their own. Especially by strangely vindictive women, and by the men who then think they have been granted free run at a target.

Halfway point for vintage in Wallybrook. Whites all off, took the Tempranillo off last night, and not a moment too soon- they were past their prime, evidenced by the winemaker already flogging off half of the parcel to another buyer.
Reds? Who knows, weeks maybe. Birdnetting now, which is exhausting, but at least it’s a bit cooler.
Frontignan- muscat variety- netting also, they’re in a spot which every damn feathered critter seems to park up for the noontide. Don’t anyone moan about how expensive estate port is, it’s a slog every step of the way getting them into the bottle, and with spirit bond excise ticking away too.

Had to buy a new TV today.

Salesperson (SP): Size?

Me: Oh, about 9″ on a good day, if it’s not too cold!

SP (rolling eyes): TV size?

Me: Well, it has to go on that white cupboard in the family room!

SP (rolling everything): Tv screen size?

Me: Oh, silly me … I want a 55″ screen.

SP: Very good, sir. LED, ULED, QLED or OLED?

Me: Yes, please.

SP (sighing): How much does Sir wish to spend?

Me: Oh! I want something really good, you know? So … oh … say $1200?

SP: OK … basic … entry level it is.

Me: Huh?

SP (consulting computer): We have the PolPot Victory set … 55″ … LED … mostly … smart “semi-intelligent” model, 48 hours’ warranty, handcrafted in the Punjab, for … $995. But I like you (smirks), so for you I’ll knock it back to $987. It has Android.

Me: But I’m an Apple person.

SP: But of course you are. Anyway, delivery is just another $125.

Me: Can’t I take it with me?

SP: What vehicle does Sir have?

Me: KIA Sportage

SP (sniffs): Oh. One of those. I’m sorry, Sir, it just won’t fit. Has to be kept upright while transporting.

———————————

OK, it wasn’t like that. Feller at The Good Guys was great; very knowledgeable and professional. Got Toshiba UHD 4K QLED 55″ for just a bee’s dick over $1k, including built-in soundbar and Google/Android stuff, shit, that I don’t even know about. Happy.

Australia’s cowardly court system has betrayed ordinary citizens opposed to COVID jabs
Moral clarity and courage have not been evident in Australia’s judicial bodies.

5
Tue Mar 15, 2022 – 4:03 pm EDT
MELBOURNE (LifeSiteNews) — Perhaps the biggest disappointment in the COVID-19 crisis is the failure of Australia’s courts and judicial bodies to provide checks and balances on the politicians and bureaucrats who have aggressively robbed citizens of many of their basic rights. So far, no judges have shown any commitment to protecting those rights despite many attempts at litigation. There is little sign any will in the future.

I have felt this disappointment personally with my incitement changes. I am in and out of court regularly defending my innocence. However, in the broader community, this has been felt widely through the lack of support for individuals to make their own medical choices in order to be employed,

It was initially thought that the Fair Work Commission, whose role is to protect workers’ rights, would act to curb the vaccine mandates which blackmail workers into getting either jabbed or losing their jobs. Hopes were raised last September when the deputy president of the Commission, Lyndall Dean, said in a case about flu vaccines that vaccination mandates are “medical apartheid and segregation.” She described it as “the antithesis?of our democratic way of life and everything we value”, something that many of us Australians once thought, but no longer do. Dean extensively cited Federal law and judicial precedent to support her argument.

The response was swift and brutal. Dean was barred from hearing workplace vaccination matters and excluded from full bench work until she “completed training”. The message was clear to any other Commissioners thinking of standing up for the law. Do so, and you will lose your job.

Dean had expressed support for a social media post arguing public health measures implemented by the Australian government during the pandemic are akin to “Chinese-style totalitarian social control.” As if to prove the point, the manner of her silencing would have done any mid-level bureaucrat in the Chinese Communist Party, charged with re-educating dissidents, proud. Commission General Manager Murray Furlong said Dean would “attend training on responsibilities and standards of professional conduct expected of a member of the commission.” He added: “She will be excluded from all and any further full bench work at least until she’s completed that training … she has disqualified herself on the grounds of bias from adjudicating disputes relating to workplace vaccinations in future.”

Coroners are now joining in the deception. A Tasmanian father of four collapsed and died last year because of the side effects of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine (a similar technology to the Johnson & Johnson inoculations). According to newspaper reports, Ian William Reed, 44, suffered from an intra-cerebral haemorrhage, a type of stroke involving a blood vessel rupturing and bleeding inside the brain and abnormal blood clotting.

Coroner Simon Cooper found that Reed died from an immunological response to vaccination. Then, when asked by Reed’s wife whether there had been adequate information about the vaccine’s risks and side effects, he made the outrageous comment that he was “satisfied that at the relevant time there was sufficient information available as to the potential side effects.”

That is the exact opposite of the truth. Since the middle of last year there has been nothing but blanket advertising and pronouncements from politicians and bureaucrats claiming that the vaccines are safe and effective. It was obvious at the time that the government could not possibly have known such a thing and were lying when they said they did. There was not even enough short-term data to demonstrate they were safe and effective, let alone medium and long term indications.

Their lies are now being exposed. The fact that booster shots are required after three to six months – they are being mandated for some workers around the country – shows that they are not effective for very long, if at all. Governments are no longer pretending that they stop transmission or infection, so the argument that getting jabbed is a way to protect the whole community has been exposed as false.

It is also becoming clear that they are not safe, and that this should have been known all along. Pfizer has been forced to release its clinical data – the company tried to hide it for 75 years, but at least one US judge still remembers what the law is – and the evidence is damning. Tellingly, Pfizer chief executive Albert Bourla is backpedalling on the decision to use an untried experimental gene therapy, mRNA, saying he found the strategy “counterintuitive”. There seems little doubt that the evidence of harm will continue to accumulate.

This is what Cooper should have said: “The government not only failed to warn people about the potential side effects of the vaccines, they insisted that they were completely safe when they could not have known this because even short term data was not available. They did not tell Australians that the jabs were only provisionally approved. They did not tell Australians that the gene therapy technology had either never been used or only rarely used. They did not tell Australians that the inoculations do not meet the Federal government’s own definition of what a vaccine is. They did not tell millions of Australians that they were participating in an experimental drug trial. They blackmailed Australians into choosing between their jobs and the jab, and viciously attacked anyone who disagreed. The government has criminally misled the people.”

This will not happen because it would require moral clarity and courage. Neither has been evident in Australia’s judicial bodies.

Things have certainly “got worse” in the USA as a result of the fraudulent 2020 election. It’s big news that Wisconsin might decertify, as it would then be a precedent for other states which have been shown to have a lot of dodgy ballots to follow suit.
This is, after all, what January 6th was about. Pence’s role was to accept or deny all the state results as kosher, which he did (accept) even though there was huge doubt – amidst concerted attempts to shut down everyone, at whatever level of influence, who expressed those doubts. Silencing not just doubters but commission of further fraud (like deleting records thatbare supposed to be retained) has been the way things have gone. It hasn’t prevented the examination of ballots in a number of counties, large counties, where Biden was said to have won by “x” but dodgy ballots numbered multiples of x.

If the half term elections in November are gamed – or deferred due to some “national emergency” – the US will be saved by one method only – a military coup. This is why the radical left has worked hard to denature the armed forces. It’s also why Erdogan “cleansed” Turkey’s military.

This is why the radical left has worked hard to denature the armed forces. It’s also why Erdogan “cleansed” Turkey’s military.

That seems to’ve been what happened in Russia too. Unfortunately if you purge the free thinkers and retain the incompetent toadies you get an army which is no longer very good at winning wars.

But if you don’t purge the competent professionals they just might purge you. Which is what happened in Egypt.

And if your army can no longer win wars, then it certainly isn’t going to win an insurrection of 100 million heavily armed furious righties. Therefore the Dems are going to be walking on eggshells very carefully into the mid terms.
