“The reality of indigenous communities, despite the billions of dollars thrown at them, is that they are pictures of squalor and hell.”

They need to have a plan, with targets, to get funding. Period. Same as everyone and everything else GovCo spends money on. Tell us what will help, we give you the money, if it doesn’t work like you said it would, you need another plan before you get more cash. Rinse and repeat until you find something that works, then try and improve it.
This ain’t rocket surgery, the guy who pumps out the septic tanks could tell you that if you don’t monitor for success, you are guaranteed failure.

The Green New Dream crashes and burns again courtesy of taxpayers:

n parts of arid outback Queensland, bore water pumped from deep underground is so hot it needs cooling before drinking.

A $4-million geothermal power plant in Winton was built to use the naturally hot water to create electricity.

The renewable energy project was set to be the only operating geothermal power plant in the country and was touted as the start of a geothermal windfall in the region.

But more than two years since construction finished, it has never delivered power and is not operational.

and

In a concept design study, project manager Peak Services — which is owned by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ)— estimated that the council could save more than $15 million over the first 20 years of operation.

“I can understand the councillors at the time seeing these fantastic figures and the potential and what they could do with the money to provide services and infrastructure to the community,” Mr Baskett said.

Construction was finished in 2019 but issues arose in the commissioning stage of the project. “There’s no power being delivered to the network at all,” Mr Baskett said.

‘Issues arose’ means that it didn’t work.

Winton Shire Council is now suing Peak Services over the failed project.

Court documents allege a slew of technical issues and management failures, which the council fears may ultimately make the plant “worthless”.

“The plant, as a whole, may need substantial redesign which might ultimately render the existing plant worthless,” the document states.

The rort goes on:

Bulloo Shire Council Mayor John Ferguson said Peak Services approached them with the idea of a geothermal power plant in Thargomindah and the state government awarded a $3.6 million grant for the project in 2017.

“The project we wanted to do was to power the whole town, so give people cheap electricity,” Mr Ferguson said.

“All the news that we were getting out of Winton was that it wasn’t working yet, to lay off, so we did that.

“We did dodge a bullet.”

Let me get this straight. Local councils, which as we know can not be trusted to competently look after roads (not even potholes), rates and rubbish, are now venturing into alternative technology energy provision. What’s more, State governments are throwing around grants to help them along the way.

“It’s bloody disappointing, to put it mildly, for such a great potential for the water that comes into town,” Winton Shire Council Mayor Gavin Baskett said.

Gavin demonstrates why Local Government Acts should strictly circumscribe what councils are allowed to do. Roads, rates and rubbish come to mind.

‘I regret walking out of Stolen Generation apology’: Dutton

Although he has shrunk in stature of late, Blot’s challenge to find just 10 Aborigines removed from their families for racist reasons, and the failure of people to meet it with their candidates instead being discovered to have been removed for welfare reasons or sent to mission schools to prepare for a better life, ought to make Dutton question the empty ritual of self-flagellation that is ‘Stolen Generation’.

In fact, it ought to piss him off.

He really needs to listen to more people. In fact, if he hears something on the ABC he should immediately look around for the opposite point of view because the ABC will always only show theirs. Then he can decide where he stands.

How many times do we have to say…that “apologies” for supposedly “stealing” children have absolutely nothing concrete to contribute to solving this situation.

Even worse, I have heard reported, and in one case said in person to me, older female part-aboriginal women say how pleased they were in retrospect that they were brought up in white care, where they got to learn to read and write and keep house so they have the ability to raise their grandchildren.

Aboriginal guide at the Alice Springs telegraph station in the early 2000s, described himself as part of the “rescued generation”. He pointed that all of his non-rescued siblings were dead.

Good on Dutton for only having one flag behind him.

I did not hear all of his press conference but I happened to catch the bit about sorry and reconciliation. Whilst he did say he regretted walking out on the apology he said it was due to his prior experience as a cop and things he had seen. On the Voice / referendum stuff he was saying even Linda Burney does not know what she will do yet. He did mention his concern was for the things going on in Aboriginal communities at the moment and that should be the emphasis.

I did not have any issue with what he said and the one flag behind him was a message in itself.

I’d expect that Russia will end up hoofing out the Ukrainians and annexing the Donbas and the land bridge to the Crimea. Comrade Lavrov seems to be positioning that as the Russian military objective.

But the indirect invoices will keep rolling in for years after.

• Economic dislocation while the EU sorts its energy dependence issues;
• World commodity prices;
• Russia retains pariah status in the West and becomes a CCP client state;
• Increased Russian and NATO military spend on upgrades and replenishment;
• An enhanced arms race – based on faster and ‘better’ tactical nukes.

I would imagine that RUS considered all of these possibilities and yet still decided that the alternative to status quo in Donbas was the worse outcome. The other thing is that I think RUS can navigate its present situation and avoid becoming a client state of China. No one knows what’s ahead but economically, RUS have not merely avoided running aground when many thought it would be already sunk but it is doing better than many expected and now seems to have, for the time being, a very good hand commodity-wise such that we are now hearing a lot of bleating about a global food crisis.

There’s an awful lot of the world that isn’t “the west”, even if you exclude China. And the western world seems set on economic suicide.

Zelensky is the darling of the west standing bravely against the evil Russian hordes – I touched on this issue in my post upthread with the MSM reporting.

Zelensky is the “current thing” but the western population is fickle and will love or loath whomever or whatever the media tells them to love or hate that week.

That’s not so in the Ukraine though, Zelensky has said that they are losing 100 soldiers per day so we can imagine the actual number would be much more. The Ukrainian Army generals can see that they are losing soldiers daily in an unwinnable war and that it should be brought to a halt immediately.

Zelensky won’t settle for peace though, he’s just an actor like the blithering idiot in the White House, and he’ll keep sending Ukrainians to die as long as the pay cheques don’t bounce.

The Ukrainian Army has one major problem, the Azov Battalion is embedded within it so the professional soldiers can’t get together and agree to depose the puppet in Kiev and end the war. By incorporating the die-hard fanatics within the ranks of the army they have copied the style of the USSR which had their political commissars within the ranks. I wonder if the German Army in WWII would have been a more formidable force if Hitler hadn’t kept the Wehrmacht separate from the Schutzstaffel.

Colour me surprised. Report on various outcomes of the stolen generation.

Summary here – Stolen is bad, mmmkay?
https://www.aihw.gov.au/getmedia/32bddc34-2f4a-49d9-8f15-4e32bf2edcc1/aihw-ihw-199.pdf.aspx?inline=true

Of course there’s a fatal flaw in this summary. 77% of non-remote vs. 23% remote were removed from their families, but the reference data for comparison does not compensate for this.

More comprehensive data here: https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/indigenous-australians/stolen-generations-descendants/overview

This pushes the line that being stolen is bad in EVERY SINGLE OUTCOME.. however another problem I see is that being removed from your family by social welfare is (regardless of colour) always biased by being a) in a dysfunctional family, or b) being a dysfunctional member of society (pp37: Among those who had ever been charged by police, the proportion of the Stolen Generations proxy population who reported having their first charge in childhood (aged 14 or under) was 22%. This is significantly higher than in the reference group (10%)).

The reference (‘proxy population’) is therefore not representative at all.

I can’t find equivalent non-indigenous child-removal (welfare) numbers, but did stumble across this report which is I think is a better view of the current situation – “The views of children and young people in out-of-home care”

https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/child-protection/views-of-children-young-people-oohc-2018

It starts with 91% of indigenous, and 92% (ie: same) non-indigenous children removed for welfare purposes feel ‘safe and settled’

EVERY OTHER METRIC has the indigenous children with either the same or a better view on their foster / care situation than non-indigenous, other than possibly connection and contact with biological family.

Many years ago the Law Institute Journal had an article pushing a “progressive” agenda which, when looked at logically, actually proved the opposite – a very frequent occurrence for that beacon of virtue-signalling.
This one was about exactly that scenario – aboriginal kid taken away, went back years later and everyone he had known was dead. I’m sure it was a very traumatic experience for the bloke to arrive and find that, but I got no Brownie points from work colleagues for suggesting that the “alive/not alive” dichotomy might be some compensation for being removed from “culture”.

“Why would the Solomon Islands seek out China for support in maritime security and for the police?” he asked The Times. “Maybe because the Solomon Islands’ closest neighbour, in this case Australia, has not responded to their need. Maybe their neighbour wasted time lecturing them on human rights instead of trying to help.”

Interesting. When I was there – helping them – one of the local lads threw a grenade over the walls of the Aussie embassy compound.

Oh dear! .. watching what I assume is the “new” age of British plod drama .. D I RAY .. 4 part regional (Birmingham) BBC production .. investigating a double ethnic homicide and everything is WOKE, PC inclusive! .. it’s, apparently, now more important to dot your i’s and cross your t’s when engaging/questioning “minorities” than investigating the actual crime(s) .. not only on plod business but in private life as well!
Thru episode 2 so will stay with it as it’s only 4 but if this is the path British plod shows are treading then it’ll be a short walk for me … duuuuuuuuuuh!

Remember the mantra that the mine wasn’t viable?

After being promoted as leader of the Nats today, I saw David Littleproud in his media conference. He recommitted the Nats to the Coalition’s policy of last year of nett zero emissions by 2050.

This is what he said:

“If we didn’t sign up to [nett zero] – capital markets had already factored in up to a three per cent increase in your mortgages, and your commodity prices would have gone down. I couldn’t look my people in the eye and say we can’t be part of a global community.”

Littleproud, however, stopped short of saying the Nationals would support the newly elected Labor government to pass legislation for stronger climate policies.

“We are moving forward on climate. We made that commitment, and the Australian economy is moving forward on that. “‘

A great beginning, not.

btw, given the increase to our commodity prices and the shortage of energy worldwide, how can Littleproud’s argument stand scrutiny? And what of Peter Dutton and the Libs on this?

I would imagine that RUS considered all of these possibilities and yet still decided that the alternative to status quo in Donbas was the worse outcome.

They may well have considered them. But my money is that Putin would have decided that, with the degenerate in the White House and a newly-elected Green-Left government in Germany, it was safe to bet on a repeat of the lo-consequence 2014 annexation of Crimea.

Proved wrong.

The other thing is that I think RUS can navigate its present situation and avoid becoming a client state of China.

I sincerely hope so.

No one knows what’s ahead but economically, RUS have not merely avoided running aground when many thought it would be already sunk but it is doing better than many expected…

Being booted from SWIFT and the banking system was for show; the economic consequences haven’t really started. Nobody who thought even slightly about the EU dependency on Russian energy expected an instant shut off. Russia’s petroleum exports to the EU make up well over 10% of Russian GDP – and this will be substantially substituted away. Gazprom’s exports are substantially reduced and engineering work is in train for floating LNG import facilities in Italy, France and Germany.

Good luck selling gas to Xi at US$30+/mmbtu.

No winners in all this.

These are the numbers for Moreton atm:

Moreton (QLD)
Eligible electors:107,128
Turnout:76.70%
Informality:2.70%

They still have just over 10K to process and some more will dribble in but reckon it will level off mid-80s. That will be, significantly, the lowest turnout since voting was made compulsory in 1925.

Nah, they just ‘lost’ 10,000 LNP postal votes which were easily identified by the fact that they had a signature that didn’t consist of a single ‘X’.

There can’t possibly be a l0w turnout if 50% of people had already voted prior to polling day.

Don’t attribute to voter disengagement that which can be attribute to malice. Elections are long known to be full of malicious cheating, hence the need for scrutineers at every step.

Ben Roberts-Smith: The war crime allegations against Australia’s most decorated soldier

Perry Duffin
Senior Court Reporter
@perryduffin1
NCA NewsWire
An hour ago May 30, 2022

An SAS soldier, who testified for Ben Roberts-Smith about a puzzling war story, has been recalled to give more evidence behind closed doors in the marathon defamation case.

Mr Roberts-Smith is suing Nine newspapers over a series of articles in which they claimed he committed war crime murders in Afghanistan.

The Victoria Cross recipient denies each allegation and has been calling witnesses for over a month to testify in his case.

The court, on Monday, heard a witness codenamed Person 27 was now being recalled to testify in closed court.

He had been overseas until this weekend and the court had struggled to locate him – but he will now give evidence on Tuesday afternoon.

It‘s not yet clear if the public will learn what Person 27 is being recalled over – but the SAS soldier previously told the court Mr Roberts-Smith’s lawyers were behind a strange comment that has appeared in multiple court documents.

The court has heard claims Mr Roberts-Smith, at the end of 2012, ordered an Afghan special forces soldier to execute a detained civilian after the SAS discovered a weapons cache.

Some soldiers have claimed they witnessed the killing – others, including Mr Roberts-Smith, deny any such shooting took place.

Mr Roberts-Smith and four other SAS soldiers submitted outlines of evidence to the court that said Nine‘s allegation was wrong.

Their reason was simple and clear – an Afghan soldier, which Nine claims was also involved in the killing, was not working with the Australians at that time in 2012.

Person 27 was among those witnesses who said that particular Wakunish soldier, or “Waka”, had been removed from service because he shot a dog.

The bullet ricocheted and hit an Australian soldier in the rear, Mr Roberts-Smith‘s witnesses said in their outline of evidence.

But Person 27, speaking on the stand this month, told the court that the outline of evidence was incorrect.

The Wakunish soldier Mr Roberts-Smith‘s side accused of shooting the dog, known only as Person 12, had not been removed from service, the court has now repeatedly heard.

“Who first used Person 12’s name?” Nine’s barrister asked.

“Ben’s lawyers,” Person 27 responded.

Last month Nine‘s barrister, Nicholas Owens SC, accused Mr Roberts-Smith’s witnesses of “colluding” to give false evidence that would make Nine’s allegation impossible.

Mr Roberts-Smith‘s legal team deny there was any collusion.

Person 27‘s evidence is expected to last just one day before the court prepares to hear from a high ranking SAS officer.

The officer, who cannot be identified, will give evidence on another mission in which Nine claims Mr Roberts-Smith carried out war crimes.

The multi-year case is expected to close on Friday.

You’d have to experience life in these places.

Kids come out of the womb addicted to drugs.

Yes it’s the racism of low expectation, but it’s so broken and so destroyed, the human degradation and misery and filth so complete, that any of us growing up in it would not be anything else but what they are.

In any other place the children would be taken away and it seen as an emergency to do so, while those running these “camps” are tried and executed.

Absolutely 100% correct.

I’m not putting these laws down as Sub-Plan #4 for World Domination by the People’s Lizard Coalition, because as with anything else it’s far more likely to be well-intentioned-yet-shit by people not immersed in reality, and with a bit of excessive gender pandering to boot.

Put it this way – if the legislation were reversed, the first things I’d do after cheering would be:
1. Stalking the richest, hottest chick I could find;
2. Manufacturing a chance encounter, such as passing on a walking track or a mixup on a suburban road not covered in cameras;
3. Inventing a suitable scenario, for the authorities’ immediate attention;
4. Profiting – in both assets and cash, because society will ignore any evidence base to the contrary; and
5. Repeating steps 1 to 4 with different chick when the cash runs out.

I must be seen. I must be heard. I must be believed.

And don’t tell me it doesn’t happen, because rest assured it most certainly does – and these laws just grease those wheels.

Good study of the cost, both financial and in power terms, of converting the UK to EVs

This one overnight was fun.

Cost of charging an EV is increasing quicker than diesel and petrol prices (Express, 29 May)

The average cost of charging an EV has increased by more than a fifth due to the soar in electricity prices. A recent analysis carried out by the RAC showed that the cost of charging an EV using pay-as-you-go public chargers in the UK has risen by over 20 percent.

The more wretched Gaia-chariots on the roads the greater the strain on the grid, which certainly isn’t getting the capital spend it would need to cope with such a huge increases in demand. If Biden hadn’t stuffed the US oil industry and Russia hadn’t invaded Ukraine it wouldn’t be even close. It amazes me that pollies just do not comprehend supply and demand economics or any sort of capacity planning these days.

Ist nations lie rebutted again:

First people came to Australia 47000 bya because that’s when the archaeological records show the first interaction with the Megafauna.

The first group came from SE Asia and were the Negritos.

25000 bya the second group came from Japan; they were genetically identical to the Ainu and were known as the Murryians. They ate the Negritos, continued the extermination of the Mega Fauna and burning the place down.

The current bunch came ~ 12000bya, from Sri Lanka and are genetically identical to the Vedda people. They finished off the Negritos, drove the Murrayians to Tasmania just as the rising seas cut off the land bridge, finished off the Mega Fauna and continued burning the place down.

All this is documented in the work of Manning Clark, Windschuttle, Blainey, Josephine Flood, based on the earlier work of Nathan Tindle and Joseph Birdsell, all prominent anthropologists.

The aboriginals deserve no special treatment; they have continually shown they will abuse it. They have rates of DV, rape and other criminality 35 times the rest of the community.

New zealand has shown how the proposals to give aboriginals extra rights and powers creates massive division and inequality.

It’ll happen though. So the future I envisage is desolate powerless suburbs with roving groups of aboriginals and ferals attacking citizens who voted for the filth, liars and rich idiots like court and the bearded fuck.

Good point Winston!
Well, while I avoid depraved crapholes like NY, JC’s been skiting about being/living there. So he might be able to answer your question about why he so chooses.

I have been there (briefly, once, and enough) and thought the place a disgusting, filthy, corrupt, pervert-infested third world open sewer run by the foulest and most degenerate dregs of the western baizhou left. The very air there seemed slimy. Seriously, Lagos is a nicer place.

I’d rather live in Broken Hill or Honiara. They’re simpler of course, and are, at least, clean of most such vileness and depravity.

Genetic relationship between Indian tribes and Australian Aboriginals

A K Roychoudhury

Using gene frequency data of ten blood group and protein loci (A1A2BO, MNSs, Rh, P, Lu, Fy, Hp, Tf, Hb beta and Gm) the genetic relationships of three tribes, namely, the Toda, Irula, Kurumba in south India and one tribe, namely, the Veddah in Sri Lanka with the Aboriginals in Malay, New Guinea and Australia were studied by genetic distance analysis. The tribes in south India and Sri Lanka are genetically closer to one another than to the Aboriginals in southeast Asia and Oceania. Despite their morphological similarity there is no genetic evidence to suggest that the Indian tribes and Australian Aboriginals are biologically related

Good study of the cost, both financial and in power terms, of converting the UK to EVs:

https://www.thegwpf.org/content/uploads/2020/05/KellyDecarb-1.pdf

this is what I say to anyone that will listen.

Electricity generation in Australia is approx 250TWh. That’s about 900 PJ

From here, total energy consumption is of the order of 6000 PJ.

The transport industry consumes ~ 1500 PJ (Petrol 42%, Diesel 32%, 20% avgas, remainder LPG etc)

So just taking land transport (cars, trucks etc), we need to more than DOUBLE our electricity generation capacity from 900PJ to something like 2000PJ… and that’s ignoring losses (charging, storage etc).

The task is monumental, ans thats just generation. What about the infrastructure to let every tom, dick harry and bob the transport guy charge their vehicles at home or work ? (or fill with H2 – bah!)

Despite their morphological similarity there is no genetic evidence to suggest that the Indian tribes and Australian Aboriginals are biologically related

Someone had better tell Manning Clark (p 1 & 2) and Windschuttle. Windscuttle says this:

Birdsell regarded his own academic field less as anthropology and more as the study of “microevolution”, or how genetic change at the level of the small group affected larger populations or species. The main point of his Australian fieldwork was to provide empirical confirmation for Wright’s “shifting balance” theory of evolution, first proposed in 1931.

Wright argued that random genetic mutations could often have permanent effects on populations even though they might not offer any adaptive advantage for the population as a whole. Once they became established within a small group, random genetic novelties could eventually be transmitted to a much larger parent population through small but persistent degrees of interbreeding. Hence evolutionary change could occur in ways other than the Darwinian process of natural selection. There had been some experimental laboratory support among insect populations to show that this was one successful path to evolutionary change but Birdsell thought his empirical data from the Aborigines confirmed it too.

No doubt each of the 3 groups, amidst the fighting, did interbreed; that and the genetic moderation over the considerable evolutionary time can explain the genetic divergence from the source groups.

Activists claim a one aboriginal theory where genetic divergence occurred after arrival of one group in Australia. As Windscuttle explains this is negated by the overwhelming archaeological evidence and physiological and cultural differences.

‘Substantial’ Indigenous voices in parliament: Price
Noah Yim
NOAH YIM

Incoming CLP senator Jacinta Price says 10 Indigenous representatives in parliament is “substantial enough to offer debate” and rejected Labor’s commitment to take to a referendum a voice to parliament.

“Yes, we have got 10 voices in parliament,” Senator Price told Sky News on Monday night. “I think that’s substantial enough to offer debate through a democratic process.”

Senator Price is a Walpiri and Celtic woman who was the deputy mayor of Alice Springs and has been an outspoken advocate for Indigenous Australians.

She rejected Labor’s pledge to enshrine in the Constitution an Indigenous voice to parliament.

“I don’t see how a voice to parliament is supposed to create any action towards supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable Australians,” she said.

Given that the Pope has expressed support for the “Voice”, perhaps Jacinta could escort His Holiness around some outback communities?

The plan was developed jointly by the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), working in collaboration with Black communities and partners – including the National Black Policing Association (NBPA)(opens an external website in the same tab) and an independent scrutiny and oversight board (ISOB). It has the commitment of all 43 chief constables in England and Wales.

The statue of Margaret Thatcher in her home town has been vandalised for the second time since it was unveiled two weeks ago.

Red paint was sprayed on the £300,000 sculpture in Grantham, Lincolnshire, and a hammer and sickle was painted on the fencing surrounding it.

Lincolnshire police said yesterday: “Just before 11.15pm [on Saturday] we received reports of a person shown on CCTV acting suspiciously near the site. Officers attended and found graffiti had been spray-painted on to the barriers surrounding the statue. No damage was thought to have been caused to the statue itself.
