Press reports have Brittany out a Bumble date

I admit to having to look that up. I find that:

Bumble was first founded to challenge the antiquated rules of dating. Now, Bumble empowers users to connect with confidence whether dating, networking, or meeting friends online. We’ve made it not only necessary but acceptable for women to make the first move, shaking up outdated gender norms.

Bring back the old gender norms!!!! And Daves. And Petes. And Michaels. etc etc.

Basically, what Bear is trying to say is that it was The BrucerSter’s idea to hire Higgins in the first place.
Whether Higgins knew that is unknown, but I’d say she did.
The problem was that Higgins found him repellent [see photos].

Now, Brucey could be a guy that believes in Noblesse Oblige,
which is sorta understandable given Higgins employment with the soon to retire Steven Ciobo was coming to an end and the Government was expected to fall 2 months later.
So, when the guy Higgins was on a date with saw Bruce coming their way, he skedaddled.
Starting to get the picture, yet?

Your imagination is sooooo vivid. I see a great future for you, writing Mills and Boon bodice rippers. Don’t waste any more time here, fame and fortune beckon.

Decent people will want to avoid politicizing the story of Paul Pelosi’s assault by a clearly deranged person who likely should have been institutionalized or in jail

That’s pretty much where I am at with that story. Nut jobs sometimes go crazy, like that dude who shot Steve Scalise. It’s not a partisan thing as such, even though the individuals nominally get triggered by politics. Insane people should not be seen as representative of society.

m0nty-fa

Where do you place the neighbour who attacked Rand Paul? Nut job or political?

Re Scalise, IIRC you attempted to minimise the seriousness of his injuries at the time. You were quite jocular about the event. Seen the light? Or just covering your tracks?

“Mr Musk had previously accused the company’s leadership team of misleading him over the number of spam accounts on the platform.

Reuters reported Mr Musk terminated Mr Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde upon the deal’s close, citing unnamed sources.

Mr Agrawal and Mr Segal were in Twitter’s headquarters when the acquisition closed and they were escorted out, according to Reuters.

The New York Times and the Washington Post reported Mr Musk also fired general counsel Sean Edgett. “

Here’s one example Marvin.

Mostly iron based batteries.

Oregon-based ESS, whose batteries can store energy for between four and 12 hours, launched its first grid-scale projects in 2021. Massachusetts-based Form Energy, which raised $240 million in 2021, has batteries that store power for up to 100 hours. Its first installation will be a one-megawatt pilot plant in Minnesota, slated to be completed in 2023.

Both companies rely on batteries that use iron, one of the most abundant materials on the planet. This means that their offerings could eventually be cheaper than other grid storage candidates, like lithium-ion and vanadium flow batteries. Form says its batteries could ultimately cost just $20 per kilowatt-hour, lower than even optimistic projections for lithium-ion batteries in the next several decades.

There are still challenges to address: iron batteries typically have low efficiency, meaning a good fraction of the energy that’s put into them can’t be recovered. Unwanted side reactions can also degrade them over time. But if iron-based batteries can be deployed widely, at a low enough cost, they could help power more of the world with renewable energy.

https://www.technologyreview.com/2022/02/23/1044962/grid-battery-iron-clean-energy/

Here’s a potential blockbuster that could provide almost free energy..

Practical fusion reactors

Commonwealth Fusion Systems, ITER, Lawrence Livermore’s National Ignition Facility, Helion Energy, Tokamak Energy, General Fusion

Availability

About 10 years

Last September, researchers at Commonwealth Fusion Systems slowly charged a 10-ton D-shaped magnet, pushing up the field strength until it surpassed 20 tesla—a record for a magnet of its kind. The company’s founders say the feat addressed the major engineering challenge required to develop a compact, inexpensive fusion reactor.

Fusion power has been a dream of physicists for decades. At temperatures well above 100 million degrees, as in the sun, atomic nuclei mash together, releasing a massive amount of energy in the process. If researchers can bring about these reactions in a controlled and sustained way here on Earth, it could provide a crucial source of cheap, always-on, carbon-free electricity, using nearly limitless fuel sources.

In one approach, magnets are used to confine a gas of ions and electrons, known as a plasma, within doughnut-shaped reactors. More powerful magnets mean less heat escapes and more fusion reactions can occur within a sm

Further to the Iranian revolution of 1979…it is a fact that the overthrow of the Shah was due to an unholy alliance between leftists and Islamists, which began in the mid 1970s and fomented unrest in 1977 and 1978. The left thought that once the Shah was overthrown they’d then be able to dispense with the mullahs and control the country. But it didn’t work out that way, did it? The ayatollahs seized power under Khomeini and one of their first acts, after cleansing the country of Shah loyalists, was to deal with the leftists. It was brutal, with mass executions.

Over a long time, the Russian Federation has repeatedly expressed concern over military biological activities carried out with the most direct assistance and participation of the US Department of Defense (DoD) in laboratories in the territories of the former Soviet republics away from the North American continent and close to the Russian borders. Such activities are conducted inter alia indirectly through the Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and private companies that are permanent contractors of the US DoD, including “Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp”, “CH2M Hill”, and “Metabiota”. This poses a direct threat to biological security of the Russian Federation.

I think before we get too excited about the protests in Iran (and don’t get me wrong, I’m encouraged), we need to remember the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. They are the backbone of the theocracy, they were established straight after the revolution in 1979. It is they who eradicated the left as a political force in Iran. The guards are “protectors of the Islamic revolution”. Even today, the guards aren’t made up of young spotty men eager for some military service, they’re indoctrinated, hard core, battle hardened cultish, mercenary Islamic ideologues, many have fought in Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon, their tentacles are all over the ME, fomenting Islamic radicalism.

Then says his 36 year old son still unvaxxed but being pressured by work to take it. Our country is screwed if we have idiotic employers still coercing people to take something that is known not to work and is well out of date.

NASA’s InSight lander detects stunning meteoroid impact on Mars (28 Oct)

NASA’s InSight lander recorded a magnitude 4 marsquake last Dec. 24, but scientists learned only later the cause of that quake: a meteoroid strike estimated to be one of the biggest seen on Mars since NASA began exploring the cosmos.

The meteoroid is estimated to have spanned 16 to 39 feet (5 to 12 meters)—small enough that it would have burned up in Earth’s atmosphere, but not in Mars’ thin atmosphere, which is just 1% as dense as our planet’s. The impact, in a region called Amazonis Planitia, blasted a crater roughly 492 feet (150 meters) across and 70 feet (21 meters) deep. Some of the ejecta thrown by the impact flew as far as 23 miles (37 kilometers) away.

They didn’t have the gear to see it as it happened, but the seismometers caught it and the orbital camera got a photo less than a day after the impact. Kiloton level explosion. Interesting all the ice that splattered out of the hole. Elon may have a decent chance colonizing the place.
