I find I have no problems *provided* I take possession of the goods *before* we have the ‘we dont accept cash’ discussion. This works particularly well after putting nearly $300 in diesel in the truck.

What you end up with when you try and legislate against every possible bad outcome is Australia.

Codeine ban, yeah, that was evil.
Paracetamol, it doesn’t work very well, says no more than 8 in a 24 hour period, but pretty soon you’re taking 4 straight up for cluster headaches without realising that taking 16 in 24 hours can/will stop your liver.
No coming back from that, no doubt plenty found that out every year.

St Ruth has finally found some Trains he likes.

Right this second in The Last Holdout, empty Dark ‘N’ Stormy cans are rattling down the front verandah stairs.

Turns out this wasn’t actually the beginning of the revolution St. Ruth wanted others to fight for him. It was just typical iced-up angry loners with shooters, who were or are or intend to be banging the same tart.

Must be awfully disappointing for him.

The Trains (allegedly ran a train in the bedroom too) are the only ones responsible for this.

Although I hear Bosi was in touch with them recently, so I reckon he might get a visit from some likely lads soon with pressing questions. Wouldn’t want the impression taken that someone with military experience helped them plan the ambush, not to mention the fortifications.

Australian p. 5 today said Gareth Train was a registered gun owner.
Yesterday, it was “semi automatic” gunfire that met the cops from Tara and Chinchilla.
You can’t believe much you read, but Gareth Train didn’t have much time for the cops, they still okayed his Gun Licence, he had no Criminal History, and he’d worked in Child Protection, which some say, apart from removing Aboriginal children from their parents, is a bit dodgy.

I don’t know who else should do a welfare check, other than police.

Let’s just step back and think about this for a minute.

Since when did welfare checks become the remit of government, and the armed branch of government at that? When you say it like that it doesn’t really make sense does it?

Welfare checks are the job of friends, family and relatives. If you’re concerned, get off your arse and do it yourself!

“Welfare Checks” by police seem to have quite a long history of bad outcomes, usually for the person being checked on, in this case, the police.

Should the police have even been on this mission in the first place?

There is zero evidence of a jab induced heart attack, that is mere speculation.

rosie, if we listen to the “health authorities” there is zero evidence of anyone having a heart attack post “vaccine”. what possible evidence is there ever going of this link as its subject to plausible deniability. if there is any proximity to the vaccination then there is reasonably suspicion, which is emphatically denied by said authorities. On what basis do they deny this? its pure butt covering and covering for big pharma whose pockets they are in.

“Anticipated” an attack by police (HTF would anyone know ??),

Incomplete summary of what we are not supposed to know or notice.. yet.. maybe..

Abbo identity,
Type of guns, calibres used,
Reason/s for “welfare” check,
Details of chain of command which led to this clusterf@ck,
Curated speed of release of information by the kops.

The details and thinking provided by Cats in the last 24 hours (trolls excepted) is nothing short of sensational.. but.. can everyone see the BS narrative being conveniently spun, for the sheeples’ benefit?

All my life, I’ve heard 2A enthusiasts in that country say their guns are the only thing standing between the citizenry and tyranny. That theory has been blown out of the water.

I think the self defence rights under 2 are more nuanced than that. NSW has stronger and more specific self defence rights then anything flowing from 2 (see Ss 418-422 Crimes Act 1900). The difference is 2 allows weapons. NSW does not; which is giving with one hand and taking from the other.

Self defence rights are a cornerstone of any free (sic) society especially since in the US, Australia and England police have no obligation to protect any citizen from criminal harm (See generally Hill v Chief Constable of West Yorkshire [1989] AC 53 (‘Hill’), 241; Peat v Lin [2004] QSC 219, [10]; Police Services Administration Act 1990 (Qld) s10.5)

The left always oppose self defence rights. At the height of the Sud violence in victoristan Andrews and his police chief, ashton, advised citizens not to resist sud attacks but to cooperate.

The 3rd nation activists attack on police in QLD is going to be used to further weaken Australia’s self defence laws. I’m not saying everyone should have a gun for self defence but owning a gun for any reason is now going to be more difficult.

I’m concerned about the death of Stacey Train.
The version by police is that she came out of the house with a firearm. It’s very seldom that women are the aggressors in these situations.
The information about her personality and professional life doesn’t fit with a Bonnie Parker type.
I’m not disputing the police version but I’d like to see the evidence she was physically involved in the killings and the fire fight that occurred after.

Of course those people are but sometimes no-one is close enough to do it.

But what does a police welfare check actually do besides ascertain whether the person is alive or dead? Them being alive or dead of course will be, regardless of whether or not anyone knows about it.

The police welfare check has almost zero chance of improving the individual’s trajectory, particularly when compared to a visit by friends or family. With little chance of anything positive, there is ample opportunity for something very negative. I’m going to send armed police to check on my paranoid cousin….

Police welfare checks are all risk and no reward, apart from finding a body sooner than it might otherwise be found.

Any thinking Police Commissioner would look at what has been underscored by this current situation and draw an end to this shit idea.

You’re either going to a place to kick the door down and arrest someone for a crime, or you’re not going.

After the last two years, police are even less well positioned to draw a good outcome from a welfare check than they ever were.

No, but we are told that it was a “welfare check”, ostensibly for the school principal that went missing 15 months ago.

As I understand it (source: Courier Mail) the school principal was reported to police as a missing person on the 6th of December, or less than a week before the welfare check.
Furthermore, apparently Plod, both NSW & Q versions, were making similar home visits to several ‘lations of the school principal, to see if they could help with locating him.

I think we should at least question it. It’s very rare that anyone involved in a police incident in a remote rural area makes it out alive. Despite the fact that the police could just sit there and wait for them to cool off, no immediate threat to anyone but themselves.

Gez, I think you’ll find the NT is full of anti-social hermits on remote bush blocks. Many of them are from other jurisdictions and chose the NT for its remoteness. Some of them are Vietnam war veterans.

In one of my career moments long gone I did some photographic shoots in the 70’s in a Western Australia mining town, the only single woman in town, lol. The number of men who didn’t want their photograph taken was extraordinary. One guy was explicit about it, putting up his arm and hand to shield his face in a crowd scene at the Company drinking hole (it was a ‘closed’ Company town and I was on official work approved by the Company). Don’t get me in this, I’m wanted in six States, he jibed. A few others of his mates moved out of viewpoint and I took them seriously at their word.

WA mining areas and the Top End and parts of Queensland are just as Top Ender says.
Frontier country. In NSW Lightning Ridge was also this till the mid-80’s, but less so these days, although still a strong local self-policing communty with no ‘aboriginal’ problem as in nearby townships. For a while, South Australia had Coober Pedy for its misfits, although they’ve been know to pop up there in disused rural bank buildings, sometimes pickled in barrels.

The fact that there were two young officers lying dying or dead on the ground in front of the property probably had something to do with the police response.
Perhaps also it might be better to attempt to arrest them on the property rather than risk having them take their killing spree on a road trip?

My ‘forum’ today was a great lunch in a waterside restaurant with about twenty-five of my friends from dancing class. A good time swapping general girl-stuff tales (eg latest familial emergencies) and info (eg. where to buy and how to apply stick-on bra cups) was had by all. We always dress up for this Christmas feast, and after twenty years together we think we all still look pretty good. No one is any ‘oracle’. No one needs to be. Every woman there was married or widowed, had children, some have grandchildren, and all have suffered the slings and arrows of outragious fortune, one way or another. That’s life. Happiness comes from getting together and sharing it all, with caring and laughter and appreciation of everyone’s situation. All around Australia little gatherings like this hold things together. Not all are female. Politics are an undercurrent, shared in exchanged confidences between individuals, because not all are political and no one wants to grandstand on this.

rickw at 6.57:

But what does a police welfare check actually do besides ascertain whether the person is alive or dead? Them being alive or dead of course will be, regardless of whether or not anyone knows about it.

The cops do these checks because a) the people asking have no friends or family for hundreds of kilometres- if in the state at all – to check themselves, b) they are sufficiently concerned as to their welfare to ask, c) they are terrified of the person in question because quite often they are Radio Rental, and d) they are worried that the people in question are dead and they don;t want to walk in on a decomposing corpse – particularly one with a suicide note around its neck that blames the people asking for the check for the checkee’s death.

The jacks are under no obligation to release any details of an adult checkee if said checkee is found upright. They don’t say to the rellos/friends ‘yeah, he lives at this address, this is his phone number, yes he is eating properly’. ‘Just ‘he is alive’.

The police welfare check has almost zero chance of improving the individual’s trajectory, particularly when compared to a visit by friends or family.

Often the friends/family are the reason the person went missing in the first place. The person is only missing to the friends and family, not neceesarily missing to anyone else. The vast majority of these jobs end with the person being found and saying he couldn’t give a fuck about his friends and family.

Mentioned earlier today, but the cops do hundreds of these across the country every day. Very rarely do they take two steps on the other side of a gate before they’re ventilated by local ice freaks.

Regarding Bosi, an interesting character to say the least.

Impressive military background and a charismatic leader. I have no doubt in a one to one situation he would impress.

However I was far from impressed with him wearing his SAS beret and cam jacket at protests. Over 2 years ago saw an interview he did where he said the Port Arthur shooting was a Government false flag operation to take away people’s guns.

Then there is the fact people were fundraising for his party which was never registered.

If I was attending a genuine protest against vaccines or mandates I would not want him anywhere near it as the media would focus on his presence.

No idea what his motives are but his post military activities don’t impress me. However I can see how he could attract others to follow him.

Funny thing about NSW rugby player Matt Dunning and his application of the Dunning Kruger Effect.
A famously infamous momemt in Waratahs history. In 2003, chasing the last spot in the semi-finals, the Waratahs needed to win and score 4 tries to make the semis. With time slowly running out and only two tries scored, Matt Dunning takes a drop goal attempt so that the ref would come back to a penalty called earlier. That only works if the drop goal attempt misses…
Dunning kicked it from about 40m out. A prop forward with “low ability, expertise, or experience regarding a certain type of task or area of knowledge tend to overestimate their ability or knowledge….”.

I particularly like this one where entitled Aboriginal student, when asked to actually do some work, accused Aboriginal principal of being a racist.

But within months, he found himself embroiled in a row over a cheating incident during a NAPLAN exam at the school. One student, who shared a surname with a teaching assistant, was said to have been unable to answer the first two questions – but then got the next 34 all correct.

Cheating in NAPLAN is endemic in less well performing schools, mainly to meet KPIs. Attendance figures are fudged to meet enrolment KPIs so turning up for an hour or a free lunch becomes attendance. Tests are fudged because if you aren’t meeting the RRR benchmarks you get a teachers aide sat next to you who talks you through it until you tick the correct answer “D”. And if teachers don’t go along with the scam they are out of a job for failing to meet KPIs – not enough students not RRRing at desired level.
No doubt Ms Kari has since graduated from the university of Only Fans.

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/national/not-transparent-government-slammed-over-higgins-compo-payout/news-story/b53b3b5bdb8a108cd3f4a4ef41c146af

Andrew Bolt: The questionable price of political payouts
Brittany Higgins has just had a cheque cut from the Albanese government and taxpaying mugs aren’t even allowed to know how much of our money she’s getting.

Brittany Higgins has just shown there’s a fast way to becoming a multi-millionaire: work in Parliament House and claim to have been raped.
No need to prove anything, either. In fact, you can refuse to go to court to sort out if you’re telling the truth.

And so Higgins, a former Liberal staffer, gets as much as $3m, after the Albanese government agreed on Tuesday to cut her a cheque.

What’s more, we taxpaying mugs aren’t even allowed to know how much she’s getting of our money. Higgins’ lawyer noted: “At the request of Ms Higgins, the parties have agreed that the terms of the settlement are confidential.”

Very convenient for Higgins and the government.

Worse, this is now a trend. Earlier this year, the Finance Department gave another former Liberal staffer, Rachelle Miller, $650,000 after she claimed she’d been bullied, harassed and discriminated against at work over her consensual affair with former education minister Alan Tudge, who she even claimed had kicked her.

Her allegations were hotly denied, just as was Higgins’ rape claim. (Be clear: I have no idea if Higgins was raped or not.)

But Miller, too, didn’t have to prove a thing in any court. She refused to give evidence to two workplace inquiries, yet still got paid out.

How does this keep happening? Is it really because the Finance Department figures it’s cheaper to hand over the money than to fight in court?

Perhaps politics helps to explain.

In Miller’s case, it sure suited the Morrison government to have her paid out rather than complain all through an election campaign.

As for Higgins, it was a gift to Labor when she accused a fellow Liberal staffer, Bruce Lehrmann, of raping her in the Parliament House office of then defence minister Linda Reynolds after a drunken night out.

Labor had hammered the Liberals for years as sexist and anti-women, and it hailed Higgins as a symbol of the rottenness of the Morrison government.

It was even better when she accused her bosses – ministers Reynolds and Michaelia Cash – of being unsympathetic and even trying to shut her up.

Never mind that both women denied her allegations, and Reynolds even called Higgins “a lying cow”. Never mind that a voicemail Higgins kept of a call from Cash recorded her boss expressing nothing but concern.

The agenda was too useful, so Labor members praised Higgins. A Women’s March had her speak of her trauma and the Morrison government’s bastardry. The National Press Club had her give an encore.

And all this before the trial of Lehrmann, who insisted there hadn’t even been sex, let alone rape.

It worked. The Morrison government was smashed at the election, with polls suggesting just 30 per cent of women voted for it, against 37 per cent of men.

Yet when Higgins finally got to tell her story in court it went as badly as police had privately predicted when urging the ACT’s Director of Public Prosecutions to drop the case.

Higgins admitted she’d falsely told her chief of staff she’d gone to a doctor about the rape, and that she’d had a meltdown in the toilet, when in fact she’d gone to a lunch. Other claims also didn’t check out.

Higgins then interrupted her evidence to check into a hospital, and when the trial was aborted (for other reasons) the DPP scrapped a retrial, claiming she could be killed by the stress.

Yet Higgins was immediately well enough to lodge this compensation claim, and to tweet she’d give evidence in court if Lehrmann tried to sue for compensation.

You’d think all this would make the Finance Department think it shouldn’t just hand over millions of dollars without even getting Higgins to prove anything in court – not just the rape but the sexual harassment, sex discrimination, disability discrimination, negligence and victimisation she claims she endured.

Instead, it agreed after just one mediation session this week to hand over the cash. Reynolds wanted to fight this in court, but instead was dropped from the claim, which just sailed through.

I’d bet the Attorney-General wouldn’t have wasted a second before agreeing to approve it.

Why would Labor want Higgins questioned and potentially exposed as an untruthful witness?

Why would Labor want to enrage activists by daring to doubt one of its hero-victims?

And why would it want the Liberals to seem innocent of Labor’s false charge of institutional misogyny?

No, Brittany Higgins had to be paid, and paid she now sure is.

Amazingly comments are open . . .

Ted:

Your link at 8.10 is greatly appreciated. It leads to this:

The woman killed by police in the rural Queensland massacre had been married to both brothers who fell beside her in a shootout that followed their execution of two young officers.

Stacey Train was a high school sweetheart of Nathaniel Train and they married in their late teens before having two children together. Both became school principals.

However their relationship failed as she took up with his brother Gareth, and together they wed and raised the two children she had by Nathaniel.

So. Not only is the woman a frumpy, blurry solid 4 in the pic (albeit with teeth – or somebody’s teeth) it is now apparently the case that:
1. She hooked up with one Jesuit/Jew/Freemason/Wiggles conspiracy plonker;
2. Had two kids with Plonker One;
3. Left Plonker One for Plonker Two, who was not only a bigger, zanier Jesuit/Jew/Freemason/Wiggles bluetoother but Plonker One’s brother as well;
4. Raised Plonker One’s kids while with Plonker Two; then
5. Joined, according to all reports, Plonkers One and Two – now referred to as the Plonker Trifecta – in getting on the crystal pistol at every opportunity, having invited Plonker One into the fold (PHRASING);
6. Spun out into a vortex of plonkerism and getting into fights over who lost whose conepiece;
7. Had a minor, king-hit win against a couple of junior cops without the experience to smell danger; and
8. Finally, saved the taxpayer endless amounts of cash by being stupid enough to bein the same place when more and better cops came to sort them out*.

Yeah, Stacey’s a real keeper. As in ‘Keeper the fuck away from me.’

Now where did you hear that Bosi was in contact with the Trains recently?

It was in one of those Twitter threads discussing Gareth’s radicalisation.

I doubt there is anything to it, but he may get an interview.

So why did you carry on about it? Anything for the Cause? Even shameless rumour mongering?

Cassie, good to hear you were basing your original comments on the basis of having met Bosi over three years ago.

Based on what Bosi was saying at protests you might think ASIO would be interested in those on his mailing list.

I recall Daily Mail did a fairly detailed hit job article about him in relation to his appearances at protests.

A lotta stuff can’t be right.
The Cops did a routine welfare check 50 miles away at 4:00 pm, 55 minutes before knock off time?
Alan Dale went next door to check on a fire [yesterdays news]
today he heard bullets and went next door at 4:4o pm.
So, the sound of those bullets took 40 minutes to reach Dale’s place?

If you heard gunshots, you’d go next door to find out what happened?

Yesterday, Dale was accompanied by another guy, today that guy has disappeared off the face of the earth.
Basically, the torching of the police car doesn’t fit the narrative, so it’s been dumped.

Many are overthinking the Tara shootings & police response.

I’ll go with what it first looks like. Four police officers attended a rural address, purpose of visit was a mundane/routine check for the possible whereabouts of a person missing from interstate.

Upon the arrival of the Four police the occupants of the house went stupid (people do this) and opened fire on the police.
Having broken the glass to press “stupid” there was now no turning back for the house occupants.

The occupants then callously murdered two wounded & helpless police and pursued a third with murderous intent. Lighting a fire to smoke her out.
A neighbour arrived to investigate the smoke, the killers promptly shot him dead.

The killers holed up at their location and traded sporadic gunfire with various police for the next five or six hours. They declined offers to surrender, thus the event culminated in them being shot dead by specialist police.

End of story.

WA mining areas and the Top End and parts of Queensland are just as Top Ender says. Frontier country. For a while, South Australia had Coober Pedy for its misfits….

Cooper Pedy = true. Not so much these days but back in the day, 100%.

Also the western and south western areas of Tasmania. There are those who try their best to withdraw from society and seek solitude in the deep woodlands and may only emerge every now and then for specific supplies.

Many years ago in a motorsport rally in the western region of Tassie we were warned by the local event officials (and police liaison) that people lived off-grid in the area. They told us they had tried their best to alert everyone (including leaving posters nailed to trees on bush tracks) BUT we were to be aware that it is near certain that not all local ‘hermits’ had received the news. Furthermore, a few of those people are known to use horses to get about the bush and it was conceivable that we could encounter a man on a horse on the rally course. Nobody did as far as I’m aware – but the officials and police were clear about the inhabitants and the risk.

Linda Reynolds ‘muzzled’ in Brittany Higgins lawsuit defence

Exclusive
By JANET ALBRECHTSEN
Columnist
@jkalbrechtsen
8:57PM December 14, 2022

The Albanese government muzzled former Liberal minister Linda Reynolds in her defence against Brittany Higgins’ multimillion-dollar lawsuit, threatening to tear up an agreement to pay her legal fees and any costs awarded unless she agreed not to attend a mediation.

Ms Higgins reached a confidential settlement with the commonwealth, believed to be worth up to $3m, at the mediation on Tuesday over the former staffer’s claims she was not supported by Senator Reynolds or Liberal Party frontbencher Michaelia Cash after the alleged sexual assault by Bruce Lehrmann in Parliament House.

Senator Reynolds is understood to have been determined to defend herself against Ms Higgins’ allegations but in correspondence obtained by The Australian, the commonwealth’s lawyers told her she could not take part in the mediation.

Senator Reynolds was therefore unable to dispute any of Ms Higgins’ allegations about a failure to support her or properly investigate the incident, some of which were contested at Mr Lehrmann’s trial.

Senator Reynolds gave evidence that Ms Higgins told her during a meeting on April 1, 2019, that she had been very drunk and woke in a state of distress after the incident on March 23, 2019, but did not say she had been sexually assaulted.

Senator Reynolds’ then chief of staff, Fiona Brown, said Ms Higgins told her during a meeting on March 28 – five days after the alleged rape – that she remembered “him (Lehrmann) being on top of me” and on April 1 was offered support and encouraged to speak with police.

Senator Cash told the trial she first learnt of an incident in October 2019 but Ms Higgins disclosed the matter related to an alleged assault only on February 5, 2021.

Mr Lehrmann pleaded not guilty in the trial, which was later aborted because of juror misconduct. He has repeatedly stated his innocence.

The Australian understands Senator Cash was also sent a letter muzzling her and instructing her not to attend the mediation in return for her legal fees being paid by the commonwealth.

Neither Senator Reynolds nor Senator Cash was asked for evidence that contested Ms Higgins’ claims.

The taxpayer-funded settlement was revealed by Ms Higgins’ lawyers in a late-night statement on Tuesday apparently designed to minimise media coverage.

Legal sources have expressed astonishment that such a complex and expensive settlement was resolved in a single sitting.

Senator Reynolds said she was unable to comment on the matter. “I did not participate in the mediation and I have not been informed by the department of the outcome,” she said.

Her lawyers, Clayton Utz, in a letter dated December 9, 2022, accused the government of seeking to hamper her ability to defend herself against Ms Higgins’ claims and of not meeting Legal Services Directions.

“We find it difficult to see how, without any further particularisation of the causes of action that Ms Higgins seeks to rely on and any evidence in support of the same, the commonwealth could possibly be satisfied of the criteria for settlement on the basis of legal principle and practice and ‘a meaningful prospect of liability being established’ in accordance with those directions,” they said.

Primarily I’m curious as to why a School Principal, who (even after what he’s done) is still receiving glowing reports from school communities in two states), is driven to disappear and engage in a murderous spree against police, who merely pull up at a the house he was staying at.

If they just did ‘stupid’, why the executions? Why hunt her down like an animal? That’s another level. That’s hatred.

If it was hatred, was it premeditated. If premeditated, how.

Much about this doesn’t gel. For example, a “risk assessment” by a senior officer, resulting in two cars, for a routine welfare check on a missing School Principal?

On whether there was a systemic approach to the abuse of citizens’ rights from government departments during the height of the “pandemic response,” I’m in the affirmative.

While the most egregious and well documented is that of police violence and bullying, that was not the only area controlled by the government that became systemic.

As an example, health services across the board were being denied to the unvaxxed.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is a government office that is responsible for patient rights. Patient rights include the right to access health services and to be treated with respect.

However, after I advised that office in December 2021 that I wanted to lodge a formal complaint against a refusal to provide medical treatment, even though at the time we had no symptoms of anything, and incidentally still have not had the virus, I was informed that the access of health services for the unvaccinated was “sensitive.”

In NSW, Gladys the Gone, unambiguously asserted that the unvaxxed, if they remained unvaxxed, would have no rights. This policy position was relayed by every other premier, CHO, and the Prime Minister of the time.

But in many ways nothing has changed because not one of these arseh*oles has every walked back or retracted any of those statements. It remains just below the surface. In that way it is systemic.
