Recent High Court case regarding employee v contractor involved a food delivery guy.
Court held that the contract was paramount so the guy was a contractor.
Expect this to be legislated away but in the meantime make sure you have a contract

Perhaps the most disturbing business trend I’ve seen over the last 5 years is the destruction of childhood innocence by Disney and other woke corporations in an attempt to validate the extreme life choices of a few far left adults.

I’ve now learned it’s not slave labor, or child labor when it comes to green boondoggles. It’s now artisanal mining.

https://abcnews.go.com/International/cobalt-mining-transforms-city-democratic-republic-congo-satellite/story?id=96795773

Artisanal mining is often done with no personal protective equipment, in chaotic conditions. Mine collapses have caused hundreds of deaths and injuries. In October 2022, the U.S. Department of Labor added lithium-ion batteries to a list of goods produced by child labor, specifically because of children involved in the mining of cobalt in the country.

Oh, right.
Yes, there are minimums and maximums for TRIS or TRAP or whatever they call them now.
There are also minimums for the annual amount you must take if you are in full retirement.
4% of annual opening balance between ages 60 and 65.
But that has been halved during Covid.
I must admit I have never heard of an explicit work limit, and 10% would be four hours a week.
I did ask at least three public accountants about time gaps and hours of work in the new job and they kind of shrugged. There didn’t seem to be hard and fast rules. One just said, “Tell them you got sick of retirement and went back to work”.
I think Friday-Monday arrangements with the same employer would be a yuuuge risk though.

There’s a book out by a BBC journalist by the name of Sweeney about Putin.

I believe it’s called “Killer in the Kremlin.”

I haven’t read it, but the takeaways I heard were that Putin goes both ways and there are reports of pedo behavior.

There is also a story about when his daughter and fiancé were driving and there was a road rage incident. The other driver beat the shit out of the boyfriend, and shortly after he was picked up by the cops, which culminated with 8 years in prison. He was an oligarch and ended up losing the banks he owned.

Don’t worry JC.

People here have gone temporarily mad.

There is absolutely no need to go nuts because our leaders are bad.

Putin’s political career was built on murder and a false flag to start the Second Chechen War:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowing_Up_Russia

Blowing Up Russia: Terror from Within (Russian: ??? ???????? ??????, FSB blows Russia up) is a book written by Alexander Litvinenko and Yuri Felshtinsky.[1] The authors describe the Russian apartment bombings as a false flag operation that was guided by the Russian Federal Security Service to justify the Second Chechen War and bring Vladimir Putin to power. The story was initially printed by Yuri Shchekochikhin in a special issue of Novaya Gazeta in August 2001[2] and published as a book in 2002. In Russia the book was prohibited because it divulged state secrets, and it was included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials.[3] However, it was published in more than twenty other countries and translated into twenty languages.[4]

Milt, it’s possible. However, if there are folks who believe the Hersch story, then why is the book beyond the pale. Perhaps the cause is total cognitive dissonance, which Dot alludes to.

sTan sTands with crazy Lidia:

the ex-Green now crossbench senator Lidia Thorpe. She is constantly referred to as a “radical”. Why? Because she is a champion of First Nations sovereignty.

Is that radical? First Nations people are the sovereign people of this country. This is, was and always will be our country.

The invasion and theft of our land does not change that. Never have our people ceded sovereignty.

This ex post facto assertion of sovereignty is dubious at best. Isn’t this claim to never have ceded sovereignty somewhat problematic, given the people sovereignty was never ceded to provided you with the concept of it?

I accept there are parts of Australia that some Indigenous people have special claims to, and this is recognised by native title. But sovereignty over the entire joint is absurd.

Some good news on the Woke Front:

As companies aggressively lay off workers and cut costs, a survey released last month revealed that company events and bonuses are cut first, followed by diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. DEI job listings fell by a fifth last year and the woke collapse is accelerating.

DEI, once exciting, is now just another formula, a set of tired rules that overlap all the others embedded in corporate and government workplaces that everyone is learning to ignore. And, like any other formula, the work of yelling at white people can be outsourced to software.

New geological study proves that the green energy movement is impossible to achieve

The comprehensive study found that the current estimated metal reserves are woefully deficient in almost every category. The table below lists base and rare earth metals requirements to build the new grid and E.V.s. Deficits are yellow-highlighted. For example, copper is an integral part of a high-voltage grid system, coming up short by a shocking 3.7 billion tons. Can we dig enough open mile-deep ore pits to meet that shortfall? Improbable.

Some quite informative tables to wave at the green idiots…

Catholic School Pupil Who Voiced Catholic Beliefs on Gender Arrested (12 Feb)

Josh Alexander, 16, was arrested on Monday afternoon at St Joseph’s Catholic High School in Renfrew, Ontario after trying to attend class after he had been suspended in November for saying there are only two genders during a class discussion.

UN Advisor Claims ‘climate change is triggering more earthquakes’ (12 Feb)

Professor ?brahim Özdemir is a UN advisor and an ecologist teaching at Üsküdar University: “On Monday, earthquakes in my country Turkey and neighboring Syria left a trail of unprecedented devastation and a death toll surpassing 16,000 people at the last count. We do not know for sure what triggered this horrific natural disaster, but we do know there is growing scientific evidence that climate change increases the risk of such tremors, together with tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.”

Clapton voices the sorrow and confusion that many well-meaning and kindly people feel over being duped and pushed around over the Covid response.

In the letter, Clapton also discussed discovering “heroes” like anti-lockdown U.K. politician Desmond Swayne as well as similarly-minded (and some would argue conspiratorial) YouTube channels.

“I continue to tread the path of passive rebellion and try to tow the line in order to be able to actively love my family, but it’s hard to bite my tongue with what I now know,” Clapton wrote.

Naturally, he has been ridiculed by the rabid on both sides. He is old, he had pre-existing conditions and he took the vaxx early and in good faith like so many others. He fronted up for a second dose on his doctor’s advice and got sick again.

Andrew Bolt:

Paul Erickson must have torn his hair out to hear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s latest announcement, as the country plunges to a possible recession.

Albanese on Saturday opened the new Pride Square in Sydney’s inner west, and declared that come Saturday week he’d be at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to be “the first prime minister not to watch … but to march”.

Well, whoopee do.

More evidence that there’s nothing like symbolic gestures and identity politics to excite this prime minister.

What I suspect will upset Erickson, Labor’s national secretary, is that just four days earlier he’d told Albanese and a room full of Labor MPs to come back down to planet Earth.

Could they please talk about what’s worrying people most?

In case they hadn’t worked it out, Erickson added: “The cost of living.”

“You must look like you are responding to this first and foremost,” Erickson said.

“This is where people are at … This is where people expect you to be.”

It’s amazing Albanese and his crew needed telling. Who hasn’t freaked at what soaring inflation and interest rates, plus the explosion in gas and electricity bills, are doing to battlers?

Yet Albanese seems obsessed by identity politics and the global warming scare — and by making useless gestures for both.

Most obviously, he’s lecturing us almost every day on the Voice — a kind of Aboriginal-only advisory parliament in our constitution that will just divide us by race.

But there’s much more flag-waving.

For instance, he’s created a new Ambassador for First Nations People, ordered the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags be flown at press conferences, let public servants snub Australia Day, urged policies to stop us driving petrol cars, announced the creation of a new Poet Laureate position, got rid of the Queen’s face from the $5 note, and appointed an Assistant Minister for the Republic.

He’s also just had his Treasurer pen a 6000-word essay on inventing a “better capitalism”, and his Foreign Minister lecture Britain on confronting its colonial past.

Oh, and meanwhile he’s spent three straight evenings watching tennis at the Australian Open.

No wonder Erickson had to step in.

Much more of this and voters will draw a contrast between their priorities and the Prime Minister’s.

Maybe they’ll even ask: is the reason Albanese would rather wave from a gay pride rally is that doing something useful for us all is just too hard?

an excerpt from her book,

The woman also said she believes most students at the elite university are ‘brainwashed like North Korean students are.’

It depends, if nuns/any religious order run a school then the Bishop gets treated like a foreign mercenary.

I have seen all but the near punch ups when some schools were going to get merged to be made co-ed. The nuns worked their case up to the Pope. The bishop was left to ponder the human condition for over a decade.

Without being crass, the Diocese just waited for the nuns to die off. The nuns owned their land IIRC.

How do people suppose that HAARP has more influence over earthquakes than the sun or moon? A slight wobble of the objects or radiation pulses could have significant effects on geodynamics.

The effects HAARP could have on the weather is very small. It does not have the scale to do so. To cause earthquakes would require a colossal energy input. The sun’s influence and lunar gravity changes in even small ways would dwarf even a supersized HAARP.

Benedict resigned on 11 February 2013, effective c. two weeks later. I watched his speech at the time, and while my Latin is rusty, even I could determine what he was saying.

A month later Bergoglio was elected by conclave after several ballots, suggesting he was not the only, nor even the preferred, successor.

So, no…Benedict did not “abdicate” to Francis, but he most definitely did resign the papacy.

President Herzog: ‘Israel is on the verge of a constitutional and social collapse’

LOL. The Israeli Left have been screeching about the end of democracy and the end of everything good and nice and demonstrating like idiots on meth. Herzog is a lefty. All of this is because the Left stacked the courts then weaponized them to persecute the right, as Caroline Glick has forensically outlined in a number of articles. The Netanyahu proposal for appointing supreme court judges is very fair and transparent. But the Left hates it because they hate anything they can’t control utterly.

My point was the immediate response “it was the vaxx wot dun it”, when his associates point to his alcoholism as the possible cause.

I believe it was the government that set that precedent when they deemed every death ‘with* COVID’ as ‘from COVID’.

* and used overamplified PCR tests to fudge the positives to boot

Treasurer says government’s energy market intervention is already working to provide household relief

New Treasury analysis shows big electricity price increases forecast by the energy market for 2023 have dropped significantly since the federal government unveiled its market intervention.

The analysis of ASX futures data shows a wholesale price drop of 41 per cent in NSW, 46 per cent in Queensland, 34 per cent in Victoria and 48 per cent in South Australia in early February compared with November, before the price caps were announced.

The data shows something slightly different:

1) The futures curves for all of the eastern states show no such happy decline (Queensland shows a tiny decline superimposed on the seasonal cycle);

2) The underlying futures trade data shows clearly that the arse has fallen out of the market:
• minimal trade volume beyond Q2 2023 – effectively none in Victoria;
• near bid/ask prices way off market;

But, hey, working a treat.
Treasury analysis says so.

But Chalmers doesn’t seem believe it:

Mr Chalmers said while he’s not clear when power prices will stop increasing there are “very encouraging” indications the energy plan will work throughout the course of the year.

In good hands.
