The Russia-Ukraine War Is Just About Over

It is all something of a set piece. America’s habit of wandering into a conflict and then losing interest is long (Iraq) enough to count as an addition to history (Afghanistan.) “We have your back” and “we will not abandon you” join “the check’s in the mail” and “I’m from the government and I’m here to help” among joking faux reassurances. Our proxies seem to end up abandoned and hung out to die. As in Iraq and Afghanistan, never mind Vietnam before that, what was realized at the end could have most likely been achievable at pretty much anytime after the initial hurrahs passed away. It is sad that so many had to die to likely see it happen in 2023.

China isn’t as stable as you’re making out with millions of Uighurs living in slave like conditions.

China doesn’t want a Pakistan push within its borders and I don’t blame them.

Zelensky Wants Poland to Invade Ukraine

Zelensky is facing rising opposition. He has suspended the elections because he was elected promising peace and has consistently waged war and refused even to negotiate peace. He authorized a false flag shooting a missile into Poland, and tried blaming that on Russia. Zelensky told CNN in February 2023 that he refused to negotiate with Putin. This civil war in Ukraine was instigated by the unelected interim government of Ukraine installed by the Neocons. Ukrainian sources swear that the election was rigged and the votes were fixed to install Zelensky, who has done precisely the opposite of his campaign promises.

With Ukraine essentially destroyed, its farmland being sold to his hedge fund investors, and nearly 10 million Ukrainians have fled the country, many of whom have no intention of returning. He suspended elections because he knew very well he would be voted out of office with more than 500,000 dead and, kidnapping 16-year-old boys conscripting them for the front lines.

There is a growing movement to overthrow Zelensky as Ukrainians are starting to wake up that they have been merely the vanguard sacrificed to weaken Russia before NATO declares war on Russia under some pretense.

Our sources have been saying that Zelensky intends to allow Poland to take the Western region of Ukraine, and that will be a step toward justifying war with Russia. This is now starting to be reported in foreign press – never in Europe or the United States.

The 2020s has so far been a decade of revelations.
It has been revealed that you can’t coexist with a Palestinian people ruled by Hamas. (Surprise! They want to kill you).
It has been revealed that China doesn’t just want to compete on a fair field of free trade. (Surprise! They use trade as a tool of geopolitical power and once you are in hock to them they apply the pressure).
It has been revealed that eighty years after the start of WW2 the Europeans still can’t resolve a war on their own continent with their own money. (Surprise! They’re f*cking useless).
Further shocking revelations to come as the decade progresses.

This is an interesting take on China’s version of the great game.

Scroll if too long.

It was announced the other day that Saudi Arabia and China are opening a $7 billion local currency swap line.

Swap lines are a precursor to intervention. My tweet was high concept but it goes like this:

1) Announce swap lines

2) Start taking real amounts of yuan for oil

3) This breaks the peg of the Riyal to the USD when oil is relatively strong, not in crisis mode

4) The substitution of the CNY for the USD is existential for the US who then attacks the KSA exchange rate, pulling money out of the country…

5) SANCTIONS ON KSA.

6) Expanded swaps to convert USD encumbered assets with Riyal assets, once USD are verboten in KSA.

7) China provides them, with loans repayable in CNY.

Moves that occurred 10 years ago are instructive of why we are where we are today and where we may be headed.

The announcement of the swap lines is likely a pre-announcement of an Economic Hitman-style attack on Saudi Arabia by the US. It’s not really that difficult to foresee.

For historical context, Russia was hit hard in 2014/15 by the collapse in oil prices. In retaliation for “stealing Crimea” an attack on oil prices was organized by President Obama and the gaggle of usual suspects to trash the oil price.

In June of 2014 oil closed at $112.36. And the price began dropping the first trading day of July 2014 and didn’t stop until the end of 2015.

The key to the anticipated win was that Russian companies, mostly the big State Owned Enterprises like Gazprom and Rosneft, had a lot of dollar-denominated debt which was about to mature and needed rolling over. So, the US sanctioned Russia such that companies like Gazprom couldn’t roll the debt over, because they couldn’t sell the bonds to US or European investors anymore. The current bondholders had to be paid off… to the tune of north of $50 billion in Q4 of 2014, and another $50 billions in Q1 2015.

This “rollover risk” would plague the Russian government’s finances for the next 18 months as the price of oil dropped relentlessly.

China stepped in at the height of the ruble’s collapse to give Russia a swap line between yuan and rubles. China paid off Gazprom’s debt. Russia paid them back in yuan, which they were going to get freely because of these swap lines then and Power of Siberia in the future.

The US didn’t dare sanction China for this because of both the blowback onto our economy and would have been tantamount to declaring war. It’s also why China didn’t get even threatened with sanctions after Russia “invaded” Ukraine last year.

That sweetheart deal for the gas now flowing to them through the Power of Siberia pipeline now makes a lot more sense.

Russia survived that period of ‘rollover risk’ and in doing so created the blueprint for other countries to do the same.

It has been revealed that China doesn’t just want to compete on a fair field of free trade. (Surprise! They use trade as a tool of geopolitical power and once you are in hock to them they apply the pressure).

China is just now finding out that when 50 feral African and Asian nations decide not to repay their Belt and Road debts then it’s China who has a problem. Plus the demographic trap has been getting worse.

Europeans still can’t resolve a war on their own continent with their own money. (Surprise! They’re f*cking useless).

Suddenly, the non-leftwing media is full of journalists and other media types feigning surprise that their chosen, lifelong political tribe is a deeply racist death cult that sides with fascism against freedom and race hate against the touchy-feely love they had thought it had supported.

You guessed it: The Australian is full of red-pilled media Jews who’d have you believe they’re shocked to learn their leftwing colleagues hate them because of their ethnicity, even though many Jews – and probably a majority in Australia and the USA, for example – vote for the major left-wing party.

Today, The Australian wheels out an article by The Age’s Julie Szego:

As an out-and-proud Jew and left-leaning Zionist, [in the past] I had the odd rattling encounter, such as the time an editor implied I might struggle to write a leader on the Middle East “objectively”.
Alas, I find myself looking back on that sort of veiled anti-Semitism with a degree of nostalgia. Back then, “objective” reporting without fear or favour was considered the journalistic ideal, and the sometimes heated newsroom disputes centred on what that might look like in a particular context. That’s all changed.
In June, I was sacked from my weekly Age column for speaking out about activist journalists at the paper who were smothering my efforts to air the commonsense debates around paediatric gender transition and the clash between sex-based rights and rights based on “gender identity”. (The paper has since been pushing back against the censorious within its ranks.)

And another article by former ABC broadcaster Ramona Koval:

Speaking to journalism students in 2017 on “without fear or favour”, I said that the principle was not necessarily easy to follow and would not win you many friends. Example: I had interviewed the then head of the Human Rights Commission, Gillian Triggs, for The Saturday Paper, and she clearly regretted her forthright comments.
She accused me of misquoting her, I furnished the recorded interview, which forced her to apologise for misleading the Senate. I saw a sea of baffled faces. What side was I on? In defending my reputation from the claims of a revered upholder of human rights, it was as if I had shot Bambi.
I suspect many of their cohort have signed the group letter now doing the rounds (a reprise of a 2021 letter calling on the media to abandon “both sides” reporting on Israel-Palestine) where journalists claim that, in effect, they should be permitted to write, broadcast, and narrowcast work that indulges their own partisan views on the Israel/Hamas war. Is this ‘without fear or favour’ or is it fear of being on the “wrong side of history”?

That’s on top of a recent article by former Fairfax editor Michael Gawenda lamenting the disgracefully biased coverage of the Israel-Hamas war by Australian journalists:

What about journalists, reporters, correspondents, what about editors and executive producers and their commitment to ethical journalism?
Rage and pity and partisanship are not – should not be – available to us. That’s the price we pay for the privilege of being journalists, a privilege we earn by a commitment to factual and fair reporting, to a search for truth even if truth remains elusive.

Like all leftists, until now they believed society’s rules apply only to other people.

It wasn’t until the behaviour of the news media affected them personally as Jews that they started bleating about the hypocrisy of their chosen political tribe.

Well, Julie, Ramona and Michael, now you’re seeing what the rest of Australia sees daily about the activists of the news media who pretend to be the public’s eyes and ears while, at the same time, despising their unenlightened readership.

Welcome to reality. But, because they leftists, I doubt they’ve had a moment’s self-reflection.

Hamas is hoping to lull Israelis into dropping their guard. I hope Israelis are doing the same, and will at some point, swoop in for the kill. Sure, some civilians will be killed, but that’s to be expected, and is a small price to pay for the eradication of these terrorists, and quietude, if not peace, in the Middle East.

The Russia-Ukraine War Is Just About Over

This is the way the war ends: not with a bang but a whimper.

Ukraine was for so long touted as a war that was always on the verge of spinning out of control and igniting WW3 before into WW3 before anyone in charge had a chance to stop it. And we had to support plucky little Ukraine against the Russian juggernaut! A David and Goliath! It was vital to keep pouring in billions and billions of dollars – to achieve much the same result but at a far higher price in every metric imaginable.

And all across the internet, one by one, all those little Ukrainan flag emojis will silently disappear.

Over the weekend, someone mentioned the positioning of the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Flags in the Cabinet Room.

The described position, with the Aboriginal flag in the centre, flanked by the National and TSI flags, both breaches protocol (the National Flag should be in the centre) and denigrates the TSI flag by making it appear less important that the Aboriginal one.

Sorry, John. The Australian flag should be on the left because the Aboriginal and TSI flgs are not national flags. The Australian flag should be in the centre when the other flags are national.

If the Australian flag is placed between two non-national flags it is in a subordinate position, and that is a breach of protocol.

The order between the Aboriginal and TSI flags is not set and either coukd be given precedence over the other.

The order of precedence is:

1: The Australian National Flag

2: National flag of other nations

3: State and territory flags

4: Other flags prescribed by the Flags Act 1953 including:

the Australian Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag in either order and
the Defence ensigns which should be flown in the following order:
the Australian Defence Force ensign
the Australian white ensign
the Royal Australian Air Force ensign.

5: Ensigns and pennants – local government; Commonwealth, state and territory agencies; non-government organisations.

Vicki – It’s an interesting geopolitical conundrum.

China’s Checkbook Diplomacy Has Bounced (21 Feb)

China can make friends or break legs. It can’t do both.

In the span of a decade, China has emerged as the developing world’s bank of choice, pouring hundreds of billions of dollars in loans into global infrastructure projects as part of its sprawling Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

But as its borrowers fail to pay up, China is finding that its newfound authority is coming at a price. Eager to recoup its money, Beijing is transitioning from generous investor to tough enforcer—and jeopardizing the very goodwill that it tried to build with initiatives such as the BRI. China has broken a few bones in Sri Lanka, whose financial turmoil allowed Beijing to seize control of a strategic port, and is hassling Pakistan, Zambia, and Suriname for repayment.

For two decades, countries “were getting to know China as the kind of benevolent financier of big-ticket infrastructure,” said Bradley Parks, the executive director of the AidData research group at William & Mary. Now, he said, “the developing world is getting to know China in a very new role—and that new role is as the world’s largest official debt collector.”

The problem for China is that nobody likes being hounded for money. Chasing down unpaid debts won’t win many friends.

This is why I don’t mind Chinese people buying up large chunks of Australia, since it would take one Act of Parliament to confiscate the whole lot. Same goes with every Belt and Road country. If they refuse to repay the loans China either has to get all colonial imperialistic or suck it up. So far they’ve not felt like doing anything muscular, and the African countries have taken Xi’s measure.

In the end it all comes down to military force. We’ve had 80 years without too much of that, but the same imperative has been simmering under the surface. The recent wars may be a sign the current world geopolitical stasis is fraying.

Hilla Rotem Shoshani, just 13, was kidnapped with her mother, Raya. The deal with Hamas was to not separate families and release them together. However, only Hilla made it back to Israel. Hamas claimed to the negotiators that they lost track of her mom.
Back in Israel, Hilla told the IDF what really happened. She was with her mom the whole time, until two days before her release. Then, they were forcibly separated by the Hamas terrorists. Hamas intentionally did this *after* the agreement was in place, to break the deal by sending Hilla, 13, alone. Back without her mom.

Israeli ‘Iron Beam’ Lasers Are ‘Future Of Warfare’ (27 Nov)

Now, it’s being reported that the system – which has been in development by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems for 15 years, and was originally set for a 2025 rollout, will be deployed more quickly than that due to the Israel-Hamas war, and it may be placed in service as early as 2024.

More than a hundred Rafael engineers have reportedly been working on this project, considered one of the most significant technological challenges ever faced by the Israeli defense industries, in order to create a fast and effective interception system, with inexhaustible and near cost-free ammunition.

Recent tests of Iron Beam in the Negev have shown promising results, with the system successfully intercepting various airborne threats. The heart of the system is an electric laser pointer, capable of targeting and sending out a powerful laser beam, invisible to the naked eye.

Speaking with Calcalist, one of Rafael’s iron beam program managers expressed high hopes for the system, saying “Our aim is to reach a state where the enemy feels totally powerless.

There are vids around of some of the prototype deployment shoot downs of Gaza rockets. It’s like science fiction.

I suspect this system was in the mind of the Hamas guys when they launched their attack. The use-it-or-lose-it imperative is a powerful one, and the reporting of progress on Iron Beam has been more substantive this year.

No defensive system can be perfect. But Iron Beam is fighting DIY rockets built in a garage, small drones and terror balloons. Deployed widely it will cut Hamas or a Hamas-successor off at the knees in terms of offensive leverage.

Andrew Bolt:

Last week – in Holland – came more evidence that Hamas and its Muslim supporters have made a catastrophic and historic mistake.

The Albanese government must read these signs, or God help it and our country.

The famously tolerant Dutch on Wednesday made Geert Wilders the biggest winner of their election with 37 seats, 12 more than the second-placed GreenLeft-Labour coalition.

Wilders’ secret? He promises to ban Muslim immigration.

Here’s one telling fact. Wilders’ PVV party was fourth in the polls two months ago – but on October 7, Hamas, the Islamist terrorist group which runs Gaza, slaughtered 1200 Jews in scenes of utter barbarity.

Worse, Muslims in many cities of the West celebrated.

In Australia, for instance, Imam Ibrahim Dadoun screamed “this is a day of pride”.

Fireworks were let off, and a mob even chanted “gas the Jews” outside the Sydney Opera House.

Yes, I’m talking of a small minority of Muslims, yet not one Muslim organisation unambiguously condemned what Hamas did.

In Europe, the pro-Palestinian protests were more massive and threatening, but what did these protesters think they’d achieve with their genocidal chants of “from the river to the sea”?

Did they think the public would side with them out of fear, seeing so many angry Muslims outside their doors?

True, the Albanese government has indeed trembled. It’s trying not to offend the Muslim voters who dominate key Labor seats in northern Melbourne and western Sydney, and even did a reverse-Wilders, handing out 860 temporary visas to Palestinians in just six weeks.

But check the public’s hostile reaction. Whatever some might think of Israel, very few seem to think we should keep importing more Muslims in five years than there are Jews in this country.

Until October 7, few people would dare say that. But now the fear of seeming racist is less than the fear of what we’re seeing already in our streets.

In some parts of Europe, that fear now looks ugly.

In Ireland last week, mobs rioted in Dublin, burning and stealing and demanding an end to Muslim immigration, after reports that an Algerian man stabbed three children and a teacher’s assistant outside a school.

Then in France on the weekend, protesters in Roman-sur-Isere chanted “Islam out of Europe”, after immigrants reportedly knifed to death a 16-year-old called Thomas, after supposedly shouting they wanted to “kill whites”.

No wonder that after all the Islamist terror attacks and Muslim riots in France that the anti-immigration National Rally party of Marine Le Pen looks set to win the next election.

Around Europe, the calls are getting louder – end mass immigration of people from cultures that are so very different.

For instance, Italy, overwhelmed by illegal immigrants from North Africa, last year made Giorgia Meloni prime minister on her promise of an immigration crackdown and defence of Italian values.

Germany, which in 2015 recklessly took in more than a million immigrants from the Middle East and Africa, now has the reaction.

The anti-immigration Alternative For Germany had its most significant success yet on the day after the Hamas attack – 14.6 per cent of the vote in Bavaria’s election and 18.4 in Hesse.

Sweden’s government last week said it wanted to deport even immigrants who said things that threaten “Swedish values”.

Just whether voters will get what they wish for is another thing.

The media and government bureaucracy is just too marinated in pro-immigration and anti-Western ideology to allow it.

Take Wilders. Rival parties say they won’t join him to give the extra 39 seats he needs to form government.

Even if he does get partners, they’ll hobble him. He’s too “far Right”.

Yet his views on Islam come from living with the consequences of it. He formed his party just after an Islamist assassinated film director Theo van Gogh in 2004 for blasphemy, and Wilders has had to live since under tight police protection. When I interviewed him in Australia, five Dutch police guarded him.

Now many Europeans feel the threat he’s lived under, especially after Hamas – the world’s most barbaric terrorists – inspired hundreds of thousands of defenders to take to Western streets.

So what has Hamas really achieved?

It’s just shown the world the dead end of Islamist hate, and has made Muslims pay by spreading fear of them throughout the West. Even Muslim nations such as the United Arab Emirates disown it.

Hamas will ultimately be destroyed, and the West’s immigration intakes tightened. For all the suffering of the Jews today, in the end Hamas will be the losers.

But have they disowned Hamas Mr Bolt? Reports of Yemeni nationals taking over vessels, some high ranking Hamas dogs living in Qatar suggest not.
The rest of the article is very good.

To take a simple example, the Western Wall. Imagine the reaction of Christians in general, and Catholics in particular if the threat of terrorism drove them out of the Vatican. St Peter’s Basilica is the equivalent to many Christians of the Western Wall.

Sorry, John. The Australian flag should be on the left because the Aboriginal and TSI flgs are not national flags. The Australian flag should be in the centre when the other flags are national.

I missed this point earlier.

IIRC, the Labor government has been placing the National flag on the left, the Aboriginal in the centre, and the TSI on the right. If so, I wonder did they think that they were “downgrading” the National flag? Instead, they are pointedly, if ignorantly, stating that aborigines and TSI are NOT nations.

This morning I posted an article re Christmas in Bethlehem. It got one thumbs up so on reading up on another mag (NCR) I thought that whoever gave it the uptick may like this comment from the NCR.
Luke 2:14 was not something I’d thought about even though I’m well aware of so many Christians advocating peace for all sides.

Comment from Joe (6 hrs ago) from The National Catholic Register:

This year’s Christmas celebrations won’t happen outside for all people to see in the streets of Bethlehem. These will be hidden celebrations, inside a few church buildings, and inside of the hearts of people of good will. This is a powerful, radical return to the First Christmas, when only a few shepherds were deemed to be fit to be invited to the greatest birthday celebration in history, only they were deemed to be pure enough to hear the Angels sing “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to people of good will.” (Luke 2:14); only the shepherds received the favor of seeing the heavenly Child with their own eyes and worshipping him in the name of all humankind.

This particular verse in the Bible unsettled and fascinated me since I was a child. The Angels do not pray for peace for all people, they only pray for peace for people of good will! And all the earthly authorities in Israel, King Herod and his court, even the High Priest in the Temple and the Sanhedrin, were all excluded from the celebration that only a few shepherds with pure hearts were invited to!

In these evil times, the new hidden Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem do seem very fitting, even prophetic.

I found it interesting checking out the many versions of Luke 2:14.

The truth of immigrants improving the economy was once right as they worked their collective arses off after being given a chance. The sugar on the table was ‘opportunity’.

The change came about when the hordes of Vietcong boat folk invaded .. prior to that “immigrants” mostly came from Europe “for a better life” and were prepared to work for it! .. but with the Vietcong it was immediate housing, health cover and welfare with NO obligation ..
Most SE Asian “housos” around me arrived circa 1987 thru 1992 and the majority have never had a job and quite a few still don’t speak English ..

Bit of a generalisation there about the Viets. It may be that there were different waves.

I’ve known several who came with nothing in the 70s and worked hard to build up businesses and launch their children into white collar or professional jobs. Funnily enough, one of those, my friend Hong, gave up accountancy to start a successful restaurant in Oxford Street. He said that he didn’t mind the long hours and hard work, plus accounting bored him to tears. Also, no doubt his accounting expertise was handy in terms of the taxation elements. 🙂

Luke Nguyen’s family was part of that influx.

OTOH, some very undesirable characters who hung around Cabramatta were deep into the drug trade and who knows what else.

I don’t know about the bludging element. The Vietnamese, and now half Vietnamese (they happily intermarry) people I have known are hard workers. But then, I’m not likely to run into the other sort.

Also, from an aesthetic POV, like Thais, they do add some very attractive people to the gene pool.

Shudder. I just remembered the teenage female rugby team who stayed here a while back. Islanders are often lovely people in terms of character, but those girls were huge and terrifying. If one of them came runniing towards a younger me, I’d not only give her the ball, I’d offer to carry it over the line for her. 🙂

Cultural prejudices are inescapable.

That said, this morning I saw an average looking Anglo bloke with a pure white landwhale wearing shorts that highlighted what looked like jailhouse tatts on a surging sea of wobbling fat.

Yep, some blokes will put up with anything in the hope or expectation.

Did someone say those that fled were Vietcong?
Laughable, though there were a couple in the mix.
Leaving Vietnam by boat was extraordinarily dangerous.
One of Anh Do’s uncles was murdered in Vietnam trying to organise a boat, and then there was the trip, Do’s family were attacked by (most likely muslim) pirates twice and got off comparatively lightly, others were not so fortunate, rape and murder was the fate of many, not to mention others who’s boats were not up to the task.
Then it might have been two three years in a camp waiting to be resettled.
Anywhere up to two hundred thousand perished.
I used to work with a boat refugee; devout Catholic who had first had to leave the north then was being persecuted by the Communists, for being middle class a teacher a Catholic all very bad things, he fled for his life, and he was invited here after three years in a camp in the Philippines, got out of the migrant hostel, shared a private home with strangers while he worked hard, bought a house, educated his children.
I know there are Vietnamese who have never left public housing, but that is also a failure of government policy, as public housing was only intended as a stop gap, not a life style choice.

Last month convicted terrorist Abdul Nacer Benbrika won his High Court bid to have his citizenship restored after it was cancelled by then home affairs minister Peter Dutton in November 2020.

Benbrika, who was born in Algeria, was found guilty of leading a terror cell that had plotted to blow up Australian landmarks and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The High Court ruled that stripping someone of their Australian citizenship was such an extreme punishment that it should be imposed by a judge, not a minister.

Now, there’s a blatant power grab by one arm of the ‘separation of powers’ if ever I saw one.

I doubt if the collective of mediocrities who currently inhabit the Government benches have a clue what this means. After all, it doesn’t affect their tax free sitting allowances or anything like that.

I would have thought that the rules of citizenship are the province of the elected government, and if these dickheads had a brain cell between them, they would be huddled up with the best lawyers in the land to wrest that power back to where it belongs.

I palled up with a Vietnamese Jesuit at my MIL’s funeral.
Vietnamese Marine captain during the war.
After the capitulation he experienced a fake firing squad followed by 14 years in a reeducation camp.
Upon conditional release, he and 15 others built a boat. To have stolen one would have given them away.
Their voyage was replete with extraordinary adventures including defeating a pirate attack. (“They chose the wrong people for victims” he said with a grin).
He claimed that had he done the seven years at the Jesuit seminary before his capture by the Commies there was nothing they could have done to him that would have had any effect whatsoever. I think he was half serious.

That said David Starkey had an excellent lecture that someone posted here last week that talked about Montesquieu, how the seperation of powers are much less defined in the British system which we inherited a lot of.

Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley has asked if Labor still is committed to implementing treaty and truth-telling, following the defeat of the Indigenous voice to parliament last month.

Anthony Albanese said treaty negotiations were underway at the state level, but no federal treaty negotiations were currently taking place.

He criticised the Coalition for conflating treaty making with the voice to parliament and said voters had only been asked to decide on the voice at the referendum.

“We respect that outcome,” he said.

What has been put to Lehrmann about how he raped Higgins must have been based on an assumption that she would give evidence of what was put. Were she now to refuse to give evidence, the justification defence should fail completely.

Whoops (the Hun):

Michael Pezzullo has been terminated from his position as Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs after an inquiry found he had breached the public service code of conduct.

In September, Mr Pezzullo was stood aside from his role over a series of explosive texts alleging he sought to influence government affairs. The WhatsApp messages, which spanned five years, appeared to show the top public servant attempt to undermine political and public service enemies, promote conservative politicians, and seek to muzzle the press. The prime minister’s office issued a statement on Monday confirming the top bureaucrat had been fired.

And:

The Australian Public Service Commissioner confirmed that an independent inquiry found Mr Pezzullo broke the APS code of conduct on “at least” 14 occasions, including using his power to gain benefit or advantage, engaging in “disrespectful” gossip of colleagues, and failing to act apolitically and disclose a conflict of interest.

Stephanie Foster will continue to act as interim secretary until a “permanent appointment is made”, Mr Albanese’s office confirmed.

I wonder what sort of cash Pezzullo was on?

A lot.

But, remember that Pezza was the one who humiliated Sarah Sea Patrol, who enforced border policies energetically under the previous government, and who the Liars have had in their sights for ages.

Apparently he had an affair with some bimbo and she got a low level job.

Oh, the irony:

“In these troubled times, we sought a novel with a guiding vision, a book to remind us that we are more than ourselves, to remind us of all that is worth saving.”

Upon accepting the award, Lynch said: “This was not an easy book to write. The rational part of me believed I was dooming my career by writing this novel — though I had to write the book anyway. We do not have a choice in such matters.”

Lynch, who received two bursaries funded by the Irish Arts Council while writing Prophet Song, thanked the arts body for its support of Irish literature.

and

Prophet Song begins with a knock on the door.

Eilish Stack is stuck at home with three of her children while her husband, Larry, is working late.

It’s the Garda National Services, Ireland’s newly formed secret police, and they’re looking for Larry, who works as a trade unionist.

A few days later, he’s taken in for questioning and doesn’t return home.

“From that point, it’s a barrel roll down a hill,” Lynch told ABC RN’s The Book Show.

Prophet Song describes a world of increasing political repression and social disintegration from the perspective of Eilish, a mother-of-four living in Dublin.

Looking at what is really happening in Ireland, this is yet another reminder that the Luvvies live in another world.

I’d be delighted to do a swap: all muslims in Australia for all Israelis (sans muslim Israelis). We’d be the most prosperous country on Earth bar none. The deserts would bloom. But I do wish the Jews could live in peace in the land God gave to Abraham. Unfortunately the people around them will never be other than arseholes, as is recounted in great length in the Bible. Re the Pezzullo sacking, I now find that:

“This action was based on a recommendation to me by the secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Australian Public Service Commissioner, following an independent inquiry by Lynelle Briggs,” he said.

Don’t want to get Dover into trouble, but Briggs was for a long time senior in the old Department of Social Security, and her political preferences were hardly a secret.

What, only since WW2? Maybe re-read what I said.

Okay, then go back as far when the British navy was setting the rules.

How far this gets me? It’s not meant to get me anywhere. How could it?

Then, stop playing the whataboutism.

But setting that aside, if you’re arguing that might makes right, don’t complain about the other side doing it, just make them stop.

Might actually does make right – at least in this instance. I’m not complaining at all. I wasn’t the one suggesting Houthi piracy = US guarding the seas. At least, when there’s a shipment of imports coming to Australia from Europe, there’s a decent chance the container ship makes it through Suez and international waters because of US and aligned naval presence. I consider that a blessing.

This should be good (the Tele):

After leaving Labor “flying blind” scrambling to respond to the release of non-citizens from immigration detention the High Court has announced it will publish the reasons for ruling convicted criminals be released into the community.

The court confirmed in a short statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, it would publish the reasons for its November 8 decision overturning a 20-year precedent that lead to the release of now 141 foreigners on Tuesday.

1. It’s not just ‘141 foreigners’. It’s 141 extremely dangerous murderers, rapists and child sex offenders.

2. Why is the highest court in this wide brown land advertising its intentions on Twitter*?

3. Although any decision along the lines of ‘it would make Luigi look even worse’, it fails to take into account the massive impact on future victims. And mark my words, there will be future victims.

*Yes I know.

Bespoke, I won’t presume to get inside the thinking of others. I have enough problems sorting out my own motives.

To me, the Israeli response was just and moral. There will be heartache and a land of rubble at the end. They are in it to win and win decisively, so that when it’s over the threat of further atrocities from Gaza is removed. But unless they kill everyone, there will have to be a plan for future building and peace.

Do you see it? I can’t. The hatred is too deep and too wide. It has engulfed the haters to the point of lunacy. How do you deal with it?

This development has left many users, who had paid for the service, in a state of distress. Reports confirm that CarynAI and other AI bots under Forever Companions ceased working around October 23, coinciding with Meyer’s legal troubles. Subscribers of the service have expressed their disappointment and confusion in various forums, including the Telegram channel where users interacted with CarynAI.

Breitbart News reported on the launch of CarynAI, which Marjorie expected earlier this year to make her as much as $5 million a month from lonely men seeking her virtual company:

The online influencer has more than 1.8 million followers on Snapchat. Meanwhile, CarynAI, which was launched as a beta test earlier this month, already has more than 1,000 paying subscribers, according to a report by Fortune.

CarynAI’s beta launch reportedly generated $71,610 in revenue in about one week, with its subscribers being almost entirely men.

More than 2,000 hours were spent designing and coding the real-life Marjorie’s voice and personality into an “immersive AI experience,” which CarynAI’s website says is available “anytime, anywhere,” and feels as if “you’re talking directly to Caryn herself.”

Last week I sat in a synagogue and listened to a survivor of 7 October 2023 talk about his ordeal on that awful, dreadful, ghastly day. After entering and hiding in the safe room at about 6.30 am, he was not liberated until between 2.00 a.m. and 3.00 a.m. the following day. The IDF was engaged in major battles around the various towns, moshavs and kibbutzim that dot southern Israel. People don’t quite realise that there was vicious and serious fighting between the terrorists and the IDF, it wasn’t just as simple at the IDF arriving at the aforementioned kibbutzim, moshavs and towns to free people. It was a full blown invasion. If the IDF had not arrived, the slaughter would have been far worse, the number of dead at 1200 would be tenfold, twentyfold, thirtyfold and so on.

But the IDF did arrive. Whilst I sat in the shul listening to his testimony, I thought of those Jews who tried to hide during pogroms, and during those awful years between 1939 and 1945, when Jewish men, women and children were hunted like rats. In those dark times, there was no army of Jewish men and women to liberate Jews from imminent death.

But there is now. We have an army of Jewish men and women, and that is thanks to the state of Israel. The reestablishment of the Jewish state in 1948 was not a sure fired guarantee that Jews would never ever again be persecuted and murdered for being Jewish. No, we’ve had decades of bombings, stabbings, kidnappings and so on. But the reestablishment of a Jewish state in the ancient Jewish homeland was to give Jews across the world a haven and sanctuary where no matter what happens that state called Israel will always defend me and every other Jew on the planet, that state called Israel will always be a shelter for me and all other Jews. We all know about the promise of ‘never again’. It doesn’t mean that Jews will never again be targeted for being Jewish, what it means is that when Jews are persecuted, raped, butchered, slaughtered, bombed, shot, stabbed, mutilated, gassed, Israel’s government and its army will fight back, Israel and its army will return serve, never again will the killers and persecutors of Jews escape justice, never again means that there will be consequences, there will be repercussions and there will be justice applied to those who wish to exterminate us. We now have a state and an army that will defend us, as those men, women and children who huddled in safe rooms on October 7 2023 knew, they KNEW the army would arrive….AND IT DID.

Israel’s existence is not negotiable.

Am Yisrael Chai.

A shooting that wounded three young men of Palestinian descent in Burlington, Vt., is being investigated as a possible hate crime, officials there said Sunday.

The men, attacked Saturday evening, are each 20 years old, the Burlington Police Department said. Two of them were shot in their torsos while a third was hit lower on his body.

Each of the men was being treated for his injuries as of Sunday afternoon, according to police. Two were described as being in stable condition, while the other had more serious injuries.

Families of the victims identified them as Hisham Awartani, Kinnan Abdalhamid and Tahseen Ahmed. “We are devastated by the horrific news that our children were targeted and shot,” the families said in a joint statement. “Our children are dedicated students who deserve to be able to focus on their studies and building their futures.”

The statement was released by the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee on the families’ behalf. The students attend Brown University, Haverford College and Trinity College in Connecticut.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified or apprehended, is a white male, police said, who approached the men on foot without speaking and fired at least four rounds from a pistol.

By the way, I remember the censure motion against Senator Fraser Anning in 2019, a censure motion supported by Liberals and Nationals.

The censure motion against Anning’s went as follows…. ‘his inflammatory and divisive comments seeking to attribute blame to victims of a horrific crime and to vilify people on the basis of religion, which do not reflect the opinions of the Australian Senate or the Australian people’

Gosh, isn’t Faruqi guilty of this? I say she is…and worse. Since 7 October, this vile slug of a woman has slyly blamed the Jewish victims for the atrocities committed against them on 7 October, and last Friday this slug of a woman stood smiling in front of a placard with the words “keep the world clean” above an Israeli symbol and a rubbish bin.

ZK2A-
If it wasn’t for South Africans and New Zealanders, the West Australian wheatbelt would have ground to a halt years ago. They are prepared to live where Australians don’t want to live, and do the work that Australians regard as “demeaning’ and “beneath them.”
That’s assuming that the amount of man-hours needed by broadacre farming was increasing over time. I’d reckon that’s a bad assumption, both in total man h and man h per unit of production.
Much more sense that the manpower needed in the wheatbelt has been progressively filled by mechanization, and the big shift from animals to cropping*. Seasonal workers are still needed at peak times, seeding and harvest, but unproductive in the off times- that’s why Estonian backpackers are out there driving $750 000 Johnnies.
Saffers are good value, and know their onions- but I’m yet to meet a Kiwi who has bought a farm here.
You’re bang on about Australian laziness though. I’d also blame stoopid sit-down money, the lemmingesque rush to useless university degrees, and brainfarts like first homeowners grants combined with stamp duty.

The Brits were hard soldiers who had trained in all sorts of different environments.

Story goes that, when the Brits deployed the Gurkha’s, the rumor spread among the Argie conscripts that the Gurkha’s ate their P.O.W.s.

You are so obtuse and you really do need to find another Blog that will put up with your attitude. Poor form indeed. Go away.

Hey, I’d fight the UN Blue Berets with the broken ends of my bones.
But our betters have just signed our arses over to the UN and WHO, after doing their damnedest to gift our country to the Pascoes and tenured doyennes of the First Nationses.

That’s all you’ve done since you’ve been here, dickface. Randomly abuse people, post stupid quotes, link to a fraud. Whenever, you’re on your own, you zero to add. You’re a fkcing moron.

You are so obtuse and you really do need to find another Blog that will put up with your attitude. Poor form indeed. Go away.

Go away? You’re telling me to go away. Go eat a bag of Thai dicks, you pathetic clown. You spam the site with links to a disgusting fraud and you’re now taking the high road?Who are you kidding, you pos, rotting limey filth?

Sydney is fine so long as you don’t try and go anywhere.
Quite so. Or try and buy a house.
But NSW has excellent regional cities where houses can cost half what they do here (not all of them, but reasonable first homes – there are still premium ones as well that can be $1.5M), and most of them already have 5G too!

What’s the point dopey, the Rapture is at hand. At least that’s what db is hoping.

m0nst, I thought – and still hope to think – that you are a better man than that comment.

I regret to say that all the evidence, all of it, indicates that mUnty is actually a lesser person (the “man” bit is in doubt) than you might think in your worst moments.

Agent Rotten , was it you that went back yesterday and down-ticked everything I said here right after the meta-cats appeared?

I love the Agent Rotten bit. LOL

I don’t really down thumb very many people but others do it as I have sort of noticed. And they are paranoid about it and make such a fuss. Are they Cats or pussies?.

But I don’t have an Ego like Junior Cretin does. And he would not know his arse from his elbow. Let alone a tick from a thumb bum bum.

Poor sod.
