Speaking of Darwin Awards, I was hoping to drive up to Darwin in a few months time, via SA and back through Queensland.

Seriously reconsidering – I don’t want to be caught out in the Mulga with a false positive and no way of getting home. I might as well spend my money around here.

I have come to the conclusion that all mass shootings in the US are FBI aided. The Las Vegas shooting did it for me. Authorities in the US know or can find out everything about anybody yet nothing about that massacre.

you mean it almost like they want a reason to scare the voters to support restrictions on gun rights? and to demonise the NRA and “right wing”?

Naturally it dissolved into a rave about vaccinations. Kanavan reminded them of Gibraltar 100% vaxxed & still wave of infections. Well – that sent woman & Ally into sheer fury of denial.

What it shows was the incredible psychological success of the fear campaign re this virus. When faced with the possibility that they have been duped, it causes an astonishing display of anger.”

Who needs guns and tanks to quell and silence a populace? All that’s needed is the psychological tool of fear…which a much greater and more potent weapon than any tank or gun.

Being Jewish I’m loathe to compare today’s events to what happened in Nazi Germany however I do wonder, given the singling out, smearing, denunciation and demonisation of those who refuse to be vaccinated, how long before there’s a pogrom or similar acts of violence. I know my history. By saying this I’m not cheapening the suffering of Jews and Roma over millennia…..AS IF. And even though I’ve been jabbed, according to that grotesque fascist Michael Gunner (an appropriate name) because I refuse to support mandatory jabbing or vaccine passports, I’m also an anti-vaxxer. Gosh. Wow…..who’d have thought!

The fascist’s words yesterday…..

“If you support, champion, give a green light, give comfort to [or] support anybody who argues against the vaccine, you are an anti-vaxxer, absolutely.”

When I heard Gunner mouth those words, I could clearly see and hear Heydrich uttering the following…..

If you support, champion, give a green light, give comfort to or support anybody that’s Jewish or Roma, you’re against us…absolutely

So Gunner, like the Germans and Russians did, is applying collective punishment. Gunner’s words shouldn’t surprise me, he’s a leftist creep and this is what the fascist left do well. History is littered with such examples. However, if we had a semi-decent MSM, which we don’t, Gunner would be held to account for those evil words and he would be hounded from office.

So last night, I was reminded of Lidice and Oradour-sur-Glane and of the many men and women in history who had collective punishment applied to them…all because they dared to champion, give a green light, give comfort to or support those who refused to kowtow to totalitarianism.

I’ve watched in horror what’s happened in Vic and NSW, and is now happening in the NT with the swivel-eyed madman up there, what they’re all doing in fact. Any medical doctor who talks about ‘eliminating’ a virus is stupid.

When queried why Covid is on the increase in Europe if the vaccine reduces chances by 80%, he told me that Europe is dragging the chain in vaccination rates and that Australia is the highest vaccinated country in the world. Lockdowns are apparently an effective and efficient why to eliminate the virus, and he expects they will rightly be used to manage future issues.

I started feeling like Winston Smith in 1984, and scanned around the room looking around for the microphones, cameras and monitors.

I left. I won’t be back. He lacks the ethics, morals and principles to provide counsel on anything of substance and importance.

My son and his mates after finishing 260+ days of lockdown and the last 2 years of High Skool in Viktoria purchased some cheap airfares to Qld. This is their 3rd attempt after Queen Anna shut ze borders previously. Now they are up for the additional $150 PCr test. Makes those $50 flights a tad ridiculous now. The only way we are getting out of this is if all major parties lose elections and minor parties form coalition governments. The best we can hope for is Italian style governments.

Mater – you should have quoted Gibraltar’s 100% vax rate & resurge of virus as Kanavan did this morning. But probably would not have altered his response.

Spoke with retired doctor friend who phoned to tell me a mutual friend had Deep Vein Thrombosis & was in a bad way. I mentioned her vax status. He replied defensively that was a few months ago – ie no connection. Useless arguing with him.

But just read piece by a OS dissenting doctor who was adamant adverse effects showing up at least 4 months after vax.

So . My point is – that yes, many doctors are in fear of being disbarred. But most are probably actually convinced by the epidemiology hierarchy working for governments.

Well, it had to happen again, I suppose! When I took up the daily bike riding to get myself out of the house, for some fresh air, after being deprived of my swimming routine during the 1st lockdown it was a (approx) 30kms round trip taking an hour & a half .. after 6 months it became obvious that this wasn’t long enuf anymore so I added a bit more and 30kms became 45kms and a bit over 2 hours, that’s been about it until last week when I realised the 2 hours was leaving me with the not finished feeling! ..
soooo I’ve upped it again devised an entire new route via the T80 cycle way ( which runs past my place) out to its finish in Liverpool and then I head back to Fairfield and rejoin my original track home … all-in-all I’ve gone to (approx) 60kms and a three hour round trip …
I started keeping count on the 4 April 2020 & am now at ride#322 which helps to gloss over all the lost swimming days during the same period … duuuh!
Not bad for 73 (74 over NY week) years young! .. LOL! ..

A potential narrative change.

Waaaaaay back, buried and nowhere near the splash in The Hun:

Victoria has recorded a welcome drop in Covid cases, with daily infections dropping below 1000.

In other words, nobody’s paying attention to numbers any more. And:

But 19 people have sadly died with Covid, aged in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

With, not of covid. Maybe this isn’t selling papers like it used to.

Best story I’ve seen so far today.

Cardinal George Pell Denounces ‘Madness’ of Climate Change Fanaticism (23 Nov)

Australian Cardinal George Pell has come out against climate alarmism in the third and final volume of his Prison Journal, published this month.

The “relentless propaganda for catastrophic man-induced climate change continues unabashed,” Cardinal Pell laments, while slamming absurd attempts to link bush fires to coal mining.

In Pell’s analysis, the hysteria of climate alarmists assumes a distinctly religious ardor, filling a void in the post-Christian West.

“When God is out of the equation and hell is banned from the public imagination, catastrophic climate change fills the gap as the current fear, and many are reluctant to concede that we are powerless in the face of the millennial patterns of climate change,” he asserts.

“But many neo-pagans do finish up fearing something which is not too demanding on them personally,” he suggests.

He knows a fake religion when he sees one.

You would expect such a senior legal official to be a bit more informed about what was proven in the case.

But it takes a Democrat to think that protest means rioting for a cause (such as it is).

Apparently Democrats believe that the right to protest is not just the right to congregate and make an opinion known, but must include the right to raze towns to the ground, burning businesses and livelihoods and homes of people who have no say in that to which you are objecting.

This is what used to happen to political favourites who treated everyone like shit until their top cover was gone.

On this day in 1326 Hugh Despenser the Younger, finally exposed after the deposition of Edward II went to his reward:

Despenser was dragged naked through the streets. He was made a spectacle, which included writing on his body biblical verses against the capital sins he was accused of. Then he was hanged as a mere commoner, yet released before asphyxiation killed him.

[He] was then tied firmly to a ladder and his genitals sliced off and burned while he was still conscious. His entrails were slowly pulled out; finally, his heart was cut out and thrown into a fire.

Despenser’s body was beheaded and cut into four pieces. His head was mounted on the gates of London.

I’ve also been contacted by non-Cat colleagues and relations who have never done anything more political than vote. Everyone is seeking moral support to make the big step, but I sense the big step is coming.

The left (not all of them, just the rowdier ones from campuses, socialist groups, and prisons) have made ‘protesting’ and ‘marches’ unpalatable with their grotesque appearances, idiotic logic, witless placards, and bellicose rhetoric – and scuffles with police and public – that ordinary people have wanted to avoid them.

They don’t want to be like those idiots.

Now they have had to re-think demonstrations. They don’t have to be small wars. Just a collection of concerned citizens who want to make their voices heard and want to make sure their ‘leaders’ are aware of how numerous they are.

Unvaccinated children had just a 3% higher chance of catching Covid compared to double-jabbed in Pfizer US trial — and none were seriously ill

So children are being forced to risk heart disease and other permanent damage or death for a miniscule reduction in the infection rate to something that doesn’t make them very sick anyway but DOES give them long term immunity if they do catch it. Something that used to be called herd immunity.

Finally got a chance to watch the Carlson/Rittenhouse interview. Both shocking and encouraging at the same time.

The “authorities” were quite content to have that young man locked up for life, and in prison that would be a death sentence. And that feeble, incontinent geriatric Nadler is still gunning for him.

Does the old fool realise that the young man would offer him aid and protection too in similar circumstances? I suspect he does. But his seared conscience was sold long ago, and the notion would give it barely a twinge.

Being Jewish I’m loathe to compare today’s events to what happened in Nazi Germany

While I feel it is a legitimate argument, I’m not really sure it is helpful. It makes it too easy to just write it off.

We must compare. People seem to think is only the Nazis pulled this shit, and jews are the only victims ever, of genocide.

Just off the top of my head:
– The UK implementation of the first concentration camps on the Boers
– Pol Pot, on his own people
– Stalin and his gulags
– The Bulkans war concentration camps
– Rwanda genocide

All very similar processes as per the 10 stages of Genocide, we are marching down this path:

? 1. CLASSIFICATION: All cultures have categories to distinguish people into “us and them” by ethnicity, race, religion, or nationality: German and Jew, Hutu and Tutsi. Now add in the unvax’d.

? 2. SYMBOLIZATION: We give names or other symbols to the classifications. We name people “Jews” or “Gypsies,” or distinguish them by colors or dress; and apply the symbols to members of groups. The unvax’d

? 3. DISCRIMINATION: A dominant group uses law, custom, and political power to deny the rights of other groups. The powerless group may not be accorded full civil rights, voting rights, or even citizenship. The dominant group is driven by an exclusionary ideology that would deprive less powerful groups of their rights.

? 4. DEHUMANIZATION: One group denies the humanity of the other group. Members of it are equated with animals, vermin, insects or diseases. Dehumanization overcomes the normal human revulsion against murder. At this stage, hate propaganda in print and on hate radios is used to vilify the victim group.

? 5. ORGANIZATION: Genocide is always organized, usually by the state, often using militias to provide deniability of state responsibility. (An example is the Sudanese government’s support and arming of the Janjaweed in Darfur.) Sometimes organization is informal (Hindu mobs led by local RSS militants during Indian partition) or decentralized (jihadist terrorist groups.)

?6. POLARIZATION: Extremists drive the groups apart. Hate groups broadcast polarizing propaganda. Motivations for targeting a group are indoctrinated through mass media. Laws may forbid intermarriage or social interaction. Extremist terrorism targets moderates, intimidating and silencing the center. Moderates from the perpetrators’ own group are most able to stop genocide, so are the first to be arrested and killed. Leaders in targeted groups are the next to be arrested and murdered. The dominant group passes emergency laws or decrees that grants them total power over the targeted group. The laws erode fundamental civil rights and liberties. Targeted groups are disarmed to make them incapable of self-defense, and to ensure that the dominant group has total control.

? 7. PREPARATION: Plans are made for genocidal killings. National or perpetrator group leaders plan the “Final Solution” to the Jewish, Armenian, Tutsi or other targeted group “question.” They often use euphemisms to cloak their intentions, such as referring to their goals as “ethnic cleansing,” “purification,” or “counter-terrorism.” They build armies, buy weapons and train their troops and militias.

? 8. PERSECUTION: Victims are identified and separated out because of their ethnic or religious identity or vaccination status. Death lists are drawn up. In state sponsored genocide, members of victim groups may be forced to wear identifying symbols. Their property is often expropriated. Sometimes they are even segregated into ghettoes, deported into concentration camps, or confined to a famine-struck region and starved. They are deliberately deprived of resources such as water or food in order to slowly destroy them.

? 9. EXTERMINATION begins, and quickly becomes the mass killing legally called “genocide.” It is “extermination” to the killers because they do not believe their victims to be fully human.

? 10. DENIAL is the final stage that lasts throughout and always follows genocide. It is among the surest indicators of further genocidal massacres. The perpetrators of genocide dig up the mass graves, burn the bodies, try to cover up the evidence and intimidate the witnesses. They deny that they committed any crimes, and often blame what happened on the victims. They block investigations of the crimes, and continue to govern until driven from power by force, when they flee into exile. There they remain with impunity, like Pol Pot or Idi Amin, unless they are captured and a tribunal is established to try them.

Our little corner has been fairly OK so far, but we expect Anna’s jackboot to find us before long. We know we’re not safe from her or any of them. How the hell she got re-elected last year is beyond comprehension.

Palacechook is just one of the dullard demagogues in Australian state politics for whom media hysteria about Kung Flu has delivered the gift of (almost) eternal political life. She wouldn’t have won last year were it not for Kung Flu.

But Kung Flu has also exposed one of the near-fatal flaws of the democratic political system: it relies on two strong competing forces and, when that is absent, it enables the one-party tyrannies we’re now seeing in WA, Queensland, NT and Victoria, where the LNP is not fit for purpose, leaving the battle for freedom from tyranny to be fought by spontaneous and relatively disorganised citizen uprisings.

It also relies on an independent media that holds governments to account. In the relatively tiny Australian media market, that has been virtually absent except for the Murdoch tabloids which, although they’re popular as judged by circulation, are miniscule forces in the competing waves of information and disinformation that break over the population daily, led by the anti-democratic social media monopolies Spacechook, Twitter and Google.

At times, the Murdoch tabloids have also turned into a spruiker for and propaganda enforcer of government coercion. The popular press tends to roll with public fashions – and one of those in the past two years has been to champion government coercion. As Cassie points out, history – and ugly history at that — is repeating itself.

Correct, Tom; the polling was against her consistently until she ran with the “I saved you from covid” campaign line (up until then she was just “following the CHO’s advice”).

From Cory Bernardi’s Newsletter:

South Australian’s got their first taste of vaccine segregation this week.

As the borders of Marshmallow land opened up to those willing to seek permission to return to their home state, the dreaded vaccine mandate kicked in.

There are so many things wrong with what is going on here that I scarcely know where to begin.

Firstly, the idea you have to apply for permission to return to the state in which you live, where you own property, where you are employed and pay loads of government rates and charges is appalling.

That some bureaucrat gets to make that decision, often with little real knowledge is incredible.

When we returned from a Queensland holiday some months ago, my wife and I received a denial of entry into South Australia.

It arrived after we had landed and been through the airport arrival process.

In mandatory home-detention, the personnel at each of our three tests over the fortnight all asked us what our instructions were because ‘everyone is told something different’.

What a way to run a health police state!

Layer upon layer of incompetence right to the top of the political pile.

Then we have the new double-vaxxed or you can’t come in businesses process.

In principle, I truly believe that any private owner should be allowed to determine who they want as their customer. The market will eventually sort it out.

However, advocates for vaccine discrimination can’t readily explain why similar discrimination doesn’t apply to any other form of health or community threat.

Surely every business is entitled to ask individuals to provide proof they don’t have blood borne illnesses in case they have an open wound or sore. What about proof of vaccination against TB or influenza? What about if you don’t want to serve drug addled losers or people with different opinions to you?

Many may think that militant leftists are more dangerous to society than COVID so a questionnaire on political views is probably also in order.

Of course you wouldn’t be allowed to do those things so why is disclosing your private medical history any different?

Some say it’s to save the health system. In that case we should weigh people to enter a restaurant or track their consumption of food and drink. Again, it is preposterous but the principle is the same as what they are inflicting on us now.

We know from international experience that the COVID vaccines don’t cure the illness or prevent the virus from spreading. In fact some data shows they actually makes things worse as they wear off.

That’s why there is talk of a perpetual booster program.

And don’t let Federal or State governments tell you these things are not mandatory. Businesses know, unless they comply they won’t win any more government contracts or be allowed to operate in government buildings.

In a nation like Australia where government is the biggest business in the country and so many others are dependent on it, that’s tantamount to being banned from the only store in a remote community.

While the principle itself is appalling, none of this would be so bad if the vaccines were actually proven safe and effective.

Unfortunately, despite almost every media report on them including those words, they are not.

The mRNA vaccine testing has been rushed and the significant side-effects have been deliberately downplayed. I dare say if these same side effects were evident in any other vaccine rollout they would have been withdrawn from sale.

This is the State of South Australia and unfortunately, it’s similar right around the country.

Government imposed tyranny is here and despite the rhetoric of the Prime Minister about ‘freedom’, every government in the country is facilitating it.

We are losing our nation and now live in a state of tyranny.

the doxxing of Craig Kelly’s mobile on Twitter;

Spot of spacechooking for military type Cats – Christer Bergstrom’s book “Arnhem 1944” – two volumes – would be one of the two best accounts I have ever read of that battle. He points out that the “two Panzer divisions” at Arnhem were the shattered remnants of what had been decimated in Normandy, with few, if any, serviceable tanks, the Americans bore the major share of the blame for the failure of the operation, and the myth that “the British Army stopped to drink tea on the way to Arnhem” was a foul canard. Being Jewish I’m loathe to compare today’s events to what happened in Nazi Germany

While we understand the Nazis by looking backwards from their endpoint, the people who made it happen and lived through it did so forward.

We see things like the Holocaust, the dictatorship, the dissolution of the individual, the Gestapo, the millions of military and civilian dead, and so on as sort of inevitable consequences of everything that had happened before.

But it was not like that at all. Each step, each choice, was made based on the past and usually only a step or two ahead. Support for Hitler in his early days was not so he could purify the race and conquer Europe. It was to get a determined man to step in and stop riots, merry-go-round governments, and rampant inflation. Who wouldn’t choose that?

Each change paved the way for the next one, and absent any one it is possible that was to occur later might never have happened. And I would not even be making the point now as there would have been no historical point to discuss. There would not be some Hitler-shaped hole in history to catch our attention.

Anyway, this is how people in a democracy, step by step, walked themselves into prison. Each step taken became part of the background for the next one. It changed the people to. Once they would have marched in the streets or shouted disagreement across steins in a beer hall. Before the end they dared not even whisper certain thoughts among their own family.

Some steps will have looked like there was a small price to pay for safety or victory or whatever. Some steps will have become in their new climate acceptable when a few years before they would have been unimaginable.

Media did not help. Nor did the rich men who thought they could control Hitler. We, of course have rich media who are planning on controlling things. And they may be right this time. It seems they are stronger than the politicians, so in a contest between the two we would get a different kind of tyranny.

Comparisons with the Nazis are made far too readily at the best of times, usually with no justification and no purpose other than scaring people off – for some reason people shrivel at the idea of being called a Nazi in front of other normal people by a blue-haired freak who has so much metal piercing their skin that if they were stranded in a life raft the Earth’s magnetic field would keep them pointed north, and so much tattoo ink that in a true recycling world their skin would be recovered and used for wrapping fish.

But we should not blind ourselves to steps that lead to tyranny. By the time its horror can be identified it is already too late, so you have to be more circumspect with those earlier steps and look to see where they might be taking you.

We don’t have to fear a Nazi style state. I don’t see that happening. Nor even a soviet state, although there are plenty who think it would have been just twee if they had gotten it right. But we currently have a massive MSM that lies to us as a matter of course. We have flocks of sheep-like politicians with a few disguised wolves among them who want to make society in their image. There is technology that is able to follow our every move, monitor our thought as soon as we communicate them (and able to peer into our computers and take or leave whatever at will) and yet no guarantees or protections.

We have seen how the state has been able to increase its power, its reach, and even create a class of ‘untouchables’, each time reducing people’s freedom and rights. Just like Orwell, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, that have done all this to protect the people from ‘the enemy among us’.

Question is whether we want to go where they are taking us.

Mater
November 24, 2021 11:36 am

How did he know?

Easy.
1. He knew there’d never been an effective vaccine for such as thing.
2. They were locking people down until one was developed.
3. They had been tinkering around the edges of a new tech for developing vaccines.

Put those factors in a Thermomix, whip it all together with a dash of ideology and heat, and you get dangerous politics in a syringe – not necessarily a vaccine which has your best interests as a focus.

– The UK implementation of the first concentration camps on the Boers

Was never a genocidal act.

The British Army had ckrrectly identified that the various Boer Commandos in South Africa relied very heavily on their networks of farming families for logistical support and cover. Classical guerrilla tactics before they were codified some 40 years later.

The concept of ‘concentrating’ Boer families and communities in controlled locations was an attempt to deny safe harbour and logistical support to the Commandos, and exert psychological leverage on those men whose families had been taken away while they were off fighting.

While a potentially effective idea in theory, the execution was half-arsed and the health and hygiene and supply situation in these camps was appalling. The deaths in custody left such a bad taste in the mouths of Afrikaners, that Anti-British sentiment was very easily stirred amongst the population, and the Afrikaner-based National Party (later United Party) spent its time in power between 1924 and 1939 consciously choosing not to buy British industrial products (including railway locomotives) or involve them in South African infrastructure whereever possible.

Australian authorities aren’t knocking on leftie inner city doors and dragging away the occupants when they happen to come into contact with a COVID positive person at the local servo.

This stuff must really conflict the left. It’s racism, but the Aboriginal community is more vulnerable than most. It’s for their own good.

The UK implementation of the first concentration camps on the Boers

The Spanish were the first to implement “concentration camps” in Cuba, in 1896. Under a policy of “concentration” , the Cuban population were given eight days to install themselves in the camps, or be shot on sight. Nearly a third of the population were installed in the camps, of which 400,000 died from starvation or disease.

It’s still an inconvenient truth that more Boer men women and children died in the camps, then were killed in battle.

Mmm…but they had a manifesto in Mein Kampf, which sold nearly a million copies in 1933 alone.

My understanding is that very few people read it.

While it might have contained anti-semitism (not a new thing in Europe) the gas chambers and death squads would not have come to people’s mind.

If someone in 1933 were told that a politician was saying (as many others will have said) they were going to do something about Da Jooz and their supposed sharp practices they would have expected the sort of thing they had done before – maybe some taxes or prohibitions from public spheres, but mass industrial scale murder will not have come to mind.

I think we can agree that the Jews weren’t the first to die in concentration camps.

Given our current trajectory, I don’t see a reason why the pure bloods wont end up in one as well. All while the vaxtards squeal with delight.

Unlike the Jews, the pure bloods don’t have the luxury of fleeing the country unmolested (Jews had years to get out). You’d think they love to get rid of us, would make there vax rates even better.

The U.S., China and other countries will tap strategic oil reserves, the White House said, in an attempt to temper rising gas prices that have boosted inflation.

Step one – The taxpayers pay for oil from the producers to be stored as a ‘strategic reserve’.
Step two – Biden decides to sell that oil back to the oil companies and quietly divert the proceeds to pay for socialist things he can’t get funded otherwise.
Step three – The taxpayers will pay for that oil again in the form of inflated prices at the pump.

And it’s pissing in the wind as when the reserve runs out Biden isn’t going to replace it, inflation will still be happening, and fuel prices will still be skyrocketing. Because green.

Love is love… as the slogan goes.

When I was a kid I thought all parents and all teachers were sensible people. None of my friends seemed to have weird parents and all my teachers never said anything that contradicted what my parents said. They never said anything scary, never talked about politics, anything like that.

When I grew up and could look at parents and teachers as a social peer, and realise how fortunate I was.

(In all fairness, I think the ethos of teachers back then was more professional and less political than now. They may have been loons in their private lives but they left it outside the school.)

Beautifully put, Tom.

And this is how you cow ordinary people in today’s Australia:

A Melbourne cafe owner has revealed the eye-watering figure she was ordered to pay for not having a CovidSafe plan at the height of Victoria’s Delta outbreak.

Irene Prosser, who runs Rye Cafe in Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, told 3AW Radio that she was slapped with a $10,094 fine after compliance officers visited her business on October 14.

That day, 2297 locally acquired cases were recorded across Victoria.

Ms Prosser slammed the state government over what she said was a lack of communication with small businesses, saying many were not even aware they needed such a plan.

She said her business was only operating for takeaway and staff were complying with density restrictions and wearing face masks. She told officers that she was not aware a CovidSafe plan was mandatory at the time.

“I didn’t think any more of it, then I opened my emails a week later and there was a fine,” Ms Prosser told 3AW on Wednesday.

The Victorian government website states every business with on-site operators requires a CovidSafe plan, with officers doing random checks.

Fines range from on-the-spot infringements up to $10,904 or up to $21,809 for “serious offences”.

Ms Prosser said she had spoken to other small businesses since the fine, saying many were not even aware they needed a mandatory CovidSafe plan.

This, folks, is how bureaucracies grow and grow and grow, nurtured by weak politicians:

A Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission will be established by the Federal government to ensure “real and tangible” improvements are achieved under the next National Plan to end violence against women and children.

The government made the announcement late on Tuesday night, mere moments before an embargo was due to lift on Labor’s pledge to appoint a domestic, family, and sexual violence commissioner to advocate on behalf of victims and survivors if it wins the next election.

Opposition leader Anthony Albanese is due to officially announce the policy on Wednesday morning, along with a commitment to fund 500 extra case workers, financial counsellors, and child support staff to take pressure off stretched crisis services providing support to women fleeing abusive relationships.

In a joint statement, Minister for Women Marise Payne and Minister for Women’s Safety Anne Ruston said $22.4 million will be invested over five years to establish the new commission, which will have research and secretariat staff.

It will be tasked with supporting the development of policy to address violence against women, developing relationships with the sector and improving cooperation between the commonwealth and states and territories.

“The next National Plan will be an ambitious blueprint to end violence against women and children, but it must be more than words,” Senator Payne said.

So, they establish yet another bureaucracy which will deliver no services (except to its well paid members), firstly to gazump the Opposition, and secondly because ‘words’ are not enough. So, what we need is more words, no doubt delivered by the femocrats that infest the APS. They will write papers and jet around to meetings and have a fine old time, while delivering exactly nothing to victims. Although, if they regurgitate the current dogma about DV, they could even have a net negative effect.

While the bureaucrats involved are not blameless, always remember that it is politicians who create and fund them, year in, year out, usually for short-term cosmetic political purposes. Then it is too hard for the jellyfish to take 25 nasty tweets and a few cranky emails, or said jellyfish are lazy and indifferent, so they never get abolished or defunded.

When I was in the APS, I devised and drove a couple of minor legislative amendments which would (a) reduce the regulatory burden on small players in an industry, and (b) open up to competition a government contract which was originally devised for an incumbent provider.

Most of my colleagues thought that I was a tad eccentric, although they could not openly oppose what I was doing. Why would I bother?

(a) was fairly uncontroversial, but (b) generated hysterical pushback from the incumbent provider (in the disability sector) about how people would die yada yada. It was nonsense, but again my colleagues wondered about the judgement of someone who would stir up trouble like this ‘for no reason.’ Saving public money and providing better services are not justifications for causing political trouble, in the eyes of the bureaucracy.

Causing political trouble in the worst possible sin.

That’s why this latest ‘initiative’ is not just a waste of money, it will probably impede any real progress on dealing with DV.
