Also the waters are used almost exclusively for heating not energy production. Seen plenty of fluffed resource estimates in ASX announcements in my time to immediately start doubting this.
Re: not being able to access tip because of vax requirement:
Council tips are becoming impossible in rural areas. One of our local tips in NSW Central Tablelands was closed, another was repurposed only for kitchen garbage, & a major tip further afield charges for tipping general bulky garbage. The only general purpose tip has a camera (as do the others) recording plate numbers to make sure non residents don’t use it! Oh yes & it doesn’t permit building materials.
As a result, campers & travellers leave huge amounts of garbage in the few rest areas on the main road.
So, now you need a vax certificate? Good grief! Not yet in our area. Still, I expect anything these days.
Really, you took that interpretation? I took the emperors to be the good guys and the coloreds to be the badies.
roads were not totally shit when I was a kid
Someone a few years ago told me that under Bob Carr the state government did a deal with local councils in NSW – they were given a sh1t load of money to take on responsibility for all local roads. Unfortunately for them (and us because of their sh1t for brains mentality) the money ran out, but the responsibility remained.
I took the emperors to be the good guys and the coloreds to be the badies.

Top Ender,
you were so lucky to see the Akka Dakkas. I am eternally jealous of anyone who has seen them live.
Cold Chisel were one of the best bands around in the 70’s. They went to shit when Barnesy got sober and found woke as a religion. I used to see them at Lidcome Dancers. That was a great venue. You always felt sorry for the warm up band that came on before Chisels. It was almost like the scene in Blues Brothers where they were playing behind the chicken wire at the Country and Western bar.

I always aspirated when giving intra muscular injections because that was what I was taught.
But another issue that closely follows this is the position of the deltoid muscle during the process. I don’t know of anyone who correctly identified the central part of the muscle and adjusted the position of the site beforehand.
Get the patient to move their upper arm 90 degrees away from the body under resistance.
The deltoid will be quite prominent in even obese or under exercised patients.
I queried another nurse about their technique and they replied that they were taught not to aspirate and upper/outer sector of the arm was close enough.
*shrug*
Perhaps it is turning out to be not good enough.

Another Geodynamics anyone?
Dry geothermal is BS. Wet geothermal in places like Iceland, NZ, California, works because the heat is close to the surface. The downside are earthquakes, volcanoes etc. Dry is shit because the heat is so far down that the energy cost of getting the heat up exceeds the energy from the heat. Geodynamics had hot rocks so far down the water which had been sent down and turned into steam re-condensed on the way back up. In addition these processes release more sequestered soil CO2 then is released from the burning of coal.

With Geodynamics or ReNu as it is known now. The depths and pressures were also creating environments where the chemistry was vastly different to what was modelled. In fact from what I heard the engineers hadn’t even envisaged the problems they were having with the downhole infrastructure lasting a fraction of the expected life. That’s after the drilling problems were overcome.

Impressive, but not Zyklon B impressive.
@ZK2A:
Fraser was a patrician – statist wannabe.
His performance as Defence Minster was also less than stellar.
However, the “Liberal” party had been subject to “white-anting” for over a decade before Fraser
The baleful influence of the “young lawyers and the “doctors’ wives” did enormous damage.
The official receipts for party membership once had printed on the reverse, “The Principles of Liberalism”, or words to that effect. I’m guessing that the party lawyers got rid of that, partly to save a bit of printing cost, but mainly to avoid prosecution for fraud.
I baled in the early 1980s, because I was a functional “liberal”(i.e. a staunch believer in individual liberty), in a political wilderness, as opposed to a “Party” liberal.
“I gave up on Midsomer Murders when Inspector Barnaby (the new one) went to investigate a murder in a village in the sticks which appeared to be populated entirely with coloured folk.”
I’ve noticed this too and I can’t stand it. I switch off immediately. A few weeks ago the wonderful Peter Whittle of The New Culture Forum interviewed the man behind the Youtube channel “History Debunked”…..it’s a great channel and I heartily recommend his stuff (along with Whittle’s channel too). They were discussing the fabrication, the manipulation and the outright distortion of history to suit the left’s agenda, he described the fact that in the Netflix series Bridgerton (which I refuse to watch) Queen Charlotte (wife of George III) is portrayed by a black woman. He described this as “grotesque”….and he’s right. It is a grotesque. Charlotte was a very white German princess from the northern duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. It’s erasing a real woman in history who suffered greatly due to her husband’s illness and severe mental decline.
But what if the BBC borrowed public money from a black owned bank?
“…you were so lucky to see the Akka Dakkas.”
Two standouts for me were INXS at the Railway Hotel in Fairfield NSW, and a band I don’t even know the name of, but they were on before Joe Camalerie at the Palais in Newcastle.
The guy played “Devil went down to Georgia” on a guitar, and you’d swear he was playing a “fiddle” – both “the devil” and “Johnny”. Un-fucking-believably good. Two months later he was on Hey Hey.
They were discussing the fabrication, the manipulation and the outright distortion of history to suit the left’s agenda
Cassie, even though fiction the Magnificent Seven remake is another. I lasted 20min.
I have no doubt there were blacks in the wild west, apparently made good stockmen but I think they would have been more of the Pale Rider or Unforgiven type. Either lowly workers or outlaws.
Why bother with historical accuracy when you can insult people’s intelligence while assaulting their eyeballs?
I’d like to see a series on the slave ships raiding the Irish and Welsh villages for prey.
That would be most colourful.
Now, now Rockdoctor.
The Sheriff in Blazing Saddles was ahead of his time, almost as if Brookes had anticipated the Age of Woke.
But what if a black owned bank partially funded farming in the San Fernando Valley, then the land was sold off to launch Hollywood and Silicon Valley?
“I’d like to see a series on the slave ships raiding the Irish and Welsh villages for prey.
That would be most colourful.”
Yes…..I’d like to see a film or series about how Berber Muslim pirates, for hundreds of years, raided coastal Christian Europe, as far north as Norway and Iceland. But we must not talk about the enslavement of white European Christians by Northern African Berber Muslims. The left wouldn’t like that…..doesn’t fit in with their adolescent narrative.
Went to Elizabeth Quay for the protest and arrived early. A few hundred there, carrying flags and waving home made placards, and a woman speaking inaudibly into a microphone telling us we were good ppl for resisting gummint authoritarianism. I knew that.
Later a march up Barrack St into the Hay St. Mall. A few thousand, I’d guess. Same sort of ppl as last time, mostly working class and middle classs, if you can talk of such a distinction in Oz. All colours and types you can find. Police guiding them. Entirely peaceful. Serious but friendly ppl. I hope Marx McClown takes notice; they aren’t going to support mandates. Ever.
I feel sorry for young folks today who missed out on the Golden Age of live bands. In Sydney, the problem was deciding which of the desirable options to take up when choosing where to go for a night out.
It was usually relatively cheap, too. Some venues had no cover charge (but possibly more expensive drinks) while others offered cheapish drinks for a cover charge of five to ten bucks – ten being for top shelf bands like Chisel, Dragon, The Church, Hunters and Collectors etc.
Alternatively, you could go and see cult bands like Birdman, Psychosurgeons et al for nothing in run down pubs with public bar drink prices.
Bit of a contrast to the ghastly ‘nightclubs’ with canned music or one DJ, and astronomical prices that are on offer these days. What a waste of youth!
Meanwhile in Melbourne – I thought the Cossack did well with his speech.
Mater – any decent crowd size estimate?
LOL Cali & Dot. I have been doing some research in the last 10min, apparently 25% of the stockmen were black after the civil war. Also apparently very egalitarian on the trail. Once white women were around or in town the old prejudices applied. Being fair, that is something I suppose Hollywood even in the golden era overlooked.
Why I love this place, each day you are propelled to dig and learn something new.

Time for 3xS, a power nap, and a few beers.
I’m in two minds about continuing the protests. One hand is saying – keep up the momentum (but understanding crowd numbers will obviously fall due to life and weekend commitments. It’s a big ask to front every Saturday.) On the other – save resources to target the Tennis thing sounds pretty good – with an international press continent present.
Should we just go for the momentum – and thinking of the dwindling crowds – or target major events until the State Election looms?
Charlotte was a very white German princess from the northern duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
She was at least rumoured to have an “African” ancestor, but probably northern rather than Sub- Saharan, and so far back that we’re talking Elizabeth Warren territory.
So they’ve got at least a figleaf for that one, but yes they obviously weren’t interested in accuracy.
JMH – we need to wheel out the protests at a time of our choosing, not theirs.
I don’t have a reference, but I’ve read the same thing.
I hesitate to make a guess. So damned hard to estimate.
The delay and excessive talking in the gardens saw lots of people leave before the March. However, it did still fill Bourke street from Parliament all the way down to Williams St, plus some.
Into the tens of thousands, I’d say. Better than I expected, given the bill has more or less passed.
I went with five less people than last week (don’t stress they are still angry as hell, just busy), and the crowd was still very formidable. Not a good sign for Dan (or Scomo).

It was good to catch up with Mater again in Melbourne. The event was much better run today than last week. Speeches were more relevant and to the point. Could perhaps cut it a bit shorter and dispense with the evangelical crowd participation, at least until after the march. Unfortunately I was not able to stay for the march itself as I had committed to leave by 2pm, thinking it would be done by then.
I think drawing a line under the protests for now until a set time in the future (or if there are other changes) is a good idea. A dwindling weekly event will not be a good look and will drain morale.
Agree – but it must be at maximum revs. Dwindling crowd is not a good look and dwindling crowds there will be because people will either get bored; think there is no value proceeding – or have a life that needs attention. There’s our problem.

Sorry, Dr BG, I forgot my promise of last week. But I knew you’d find it anyhow.
I’m confused. Last week I turned up at 12:00 and hung around until the march kicked off at 13:00. A bit annoying to stand around waiting, but all good in the end.
This week, I turned up at 12:30 expecting the same program of events. But everyone was already down at Treasury Gardens by then. No indication that there would be a march later on, so I figured on hanging around for a bit, and then heading off. Now I find that there was a march after all!
If any organisers read the Cat – it would be helpful to have a rough running sheet published, so participants can work out what is the program of events and maximise their participation and impact.
Good idea to lay off the marches in the lead up to Christmas.
Wait for Bozo the Progressive to do something stupid and vindictive for a rallying cause.

Still a good crowd from my perspective, and good natured as usual. The one that sticks in my mind was the dad who kept standing young daughter on city rubbish bins so she could see the crowd. Got to shake David Limbrick’s hand and personally express thanks for his efforts over recent times. LDP people in his entourage said that they have a lot more support now compared to previous times when they haven’t perhaps had as much traction in Victoria. But then, that same has applied to One Nation here also. Would have been nice to let him have a podium moment, but Craig Kelly’s presence may have precluded that. If that both had stood together and had a bit of banter about which party deserves #1 and #2 positions on one’s view in the next election it may have better reinforced the idea of using preferences wisely.

The Moratorium [on Conscription to Vietnam] Marches continued into late 1972 even though Australia had started pulling troops out of Vietnam in mid 1971.
It was just ALP AgitProp and nothing else, certainly not Grassroots.
Well I reckon the who and how of DSPs would make very interesting reading.
In regards to whether the protests should maintain pressure now or hold fire for later, the considerations include:
– Andrews has his bill but may not have decided how to weild it.
– Like RickW, many jobs are in the balance as employers can’t or won’t hold jobs for workers forever. Pressure from within (and interstate initiatives) may force relaxation in this.
– I still wonder if other ALP members are nervous about their futures. Can rumbling be initiated within the party about the leadership?
– Will the momentum low of stopping protests make it harder to start them up again?
Many questions I know. I’m slightly in favour of continuing.

Mater, FYI, the government’s chief mouthpiece, Seven news, is reporting in its 6pm bulletin that police estimate today’s crowd at 8-10,000 people — “about half “of the previous week’s attendance.
The “about half” might possibly be correct, the total almost certainly isn’t (and deliberately so).
Location?

Agree that protests would work with a line drawn say, after about 2 hours. A few strong speeches, yes, and relevant information perhaps- in brief – at the start and maybe somewhere in the middle. It doesn’t work to start marching after a stint of entertainment. Gets straggly, unfocused. In fact I would say we don’t need entertainment at a protest. Rather, the trumpeters, the whistlers and megaphoners, the drummers, and those reciting the rosary while marching showed how it’s done. It’s numbers of people that matter more than duration, especially since there have been so many young families at the rallies, often with babies in prams, for whom time is a serious constraint in many respects. Clearly there was some complex planning for today, and that was welcome and helpful.
The issue of boosters seems to have predominated, so perhaps this issue can become more focal while not sidelining all others -boosters as symptomatic of power gone amok.
That 20,000 figure for last week still makes me chuckle.
That can make it up, but those made up figures don’t vote (outside of the US).
Dan can’t out lie the reality.
They said right at the start that they didn’t know where they were going to March, so after a couple of speeches, they’d stroll down to the gardens, have some more short* speeches and go on the March from there.
Given you need police permission and escort to do this, I get the feeling that they were being fucked around by the cops in regards to routes and timings. Just part of the disruption tactics, which displaced a lot of would be protesters. A lot of people missed out, including our very own Megan, who joined the March on the far side of the Mall after ringing me to find out what the hell was going on.
* Their definition of ‘short’ differs from mind, but I suspect they were filling in time to comply with police guidance. Just my suspicions.
There’s a fair bit of it around.

Yeah I thought the route did not match what Simeon or the MC announced (didn’t they say direct down Flinders Street from Treasury Gardens?) and while Bourke Street was okay, looping as far as William Street rather than chucking a left at Swanson (a mall nowadays, anyway!) felt designed to stretch weary legs, even at the expense of inconveniencing even more Melbourne traffic. It didn’t work as the crowd remained in good spirits all the way to the clocks!
Got proof or sources for any of these assertions, Grigory?

Chuckle. There is wailing and gnashing of teeth (faithfully reported by TheirABC) among lefties about Twitter’s new policy about publishing photos of private citizens without their permission.
Since lefties are constantly using Twitter to dox people they don’t like, to their dismay the new policy is rebounding on them:
I suppose lefties never thought the rules would apply to them. And, it’s likely that suitable ‘adjustments’ will be made in due course to reinstate them. But in the meantime, loving the Alinsky tactics by US righties – hold them to their own roolz!

We had a schoolteacher who was fairly active in the anti – war movement. A couple of days after one of the more major battles that the Australian Task Force was involved in, the father of one of the men who had been killed there, stormed into the classroom, and smashed said teacher into the next postcode with one punch..
Well, I recall a Moratorium March in Sydney on 19/11/1972, 13 days before Whitlam was Elected.
Unless there was another somewhere on the following weekend, that was the last Moratorium March.
No Moratorium Marches after 02/12/1972, that’s for sure.
Funny, eh?
Enjoyed the Levis501 conversation.
In ancient times, before the advent of lycra and spandex, a pair of jeans was bought a size smaller than humanly comfortable. The zip was done up lying prone. A hot bath drawn and the wearer would sit in the bath as the jeans moulded to the body. As the water cooled, out of the bath and allow the beastly things to dry on the body. Hopefully the denim would “remember” its new shape.
And it did!
Oh boy, I get the shits with Fox sometimes then some great folk like Rachel and Sean Duffy appear with Pete Hegseth and discuss values and the current SC case about Roe v Wade and all is forgiven. Since Roe was decided there have been 62 million abortions in the US, disproportionally in the black community. As much as any cause vomited by the left abortion manifests the bastardry and hypocrisy of the left. Planned parenthood and the teachers union, the main contributors to the demorats, are the main financial beneficiaries of this despicable industry. So naturally demorat scum are threatening the SC.
Yeah was going to stay out of this but Shane Crawford, had a relative at ACK same time he was there though a few years senior. She said he even at High School was as what you saw on TV, a bit of a larrikin and the girls used to swoon over him.

Since Roe was decided there have been 62 million abortions in the US, disproportionally in the black community.
Didn’t the US Supreme Court, at the instigation of lefties, “discover” an issue with racism if the effect was a “disparate impact”? Based on that, abortion in the US clearly has a Waaasissst element, and should be declared unconstitutional.

Have given up Foxtel.
Took most of a week.
Of course you can’t cancel online. You have to speak to someone.
Then begins the several phone calls from them trying to get you to stay. In the end I had to be quite blunt with them. Told them their business model was wrong. No way do we want to pay $50 a month for lots of channels we don’t need. How about $20 a month, was my suggestion, for say 10 channels we choose?
Eventually they gave up. Posted their box back to them this morning. Was the best part of the deal – took about two minutes. You print out an A4 page they send you with all the addresses and codes. Local Aus Post shop packed it and sent it – all free. Lady behind the counter said they’re getting a steady flow of Foxtel boxes being returned.
