WolfmanOz at the Movies #1

Well with Christmas upon us it would be a good place to start the Weekly Film Thread for Cats to post their most memorable Xmas movies, to get their minds off the insanity of the world today.

To start things off I’ve always had a soft spot for the 1970 musical Scrooge starring Albert Finney in the title role and Alec Guinness as Jacob Marley.

Of course, it’s A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and, although the Alistair Sim 1952 movie is arguably the best film version, I’ve always enjoyed this film since I first saw it when it was first released over 50 years ago.

Other Xmas favorites would include It’s A Wonderful Life, and, if I’m in a mood for action and suspense, then you can’t go pass the original Die Hard.

Confessions of a white oppressor

I’ve put the video up before, but thought I would couple it with this article by Ammo Girlll at Powerline: meditating on the MARGINALIZED AND UNDERSERVED. Read the whole thing, but this will give you a sense of what you will find if you go to the link.

A few weeks ago, Ann Coulter did an impressive takedown of the monstrous racist grift that is the Build Back Bigoted Bill. Ann found the definition of “underserved” on page 111 of the Rules Committee summary. The bill itself uses the term “underserved” 99 times and the term “underserved community” 19 times. The summary definition set forth for one of the key sections reads: “This section also defines an ‘underserved community’ as a group of people who have been systematically denied the full opportunity to participate in aspects of economic, social and civic life. Underserved communities include Black, Latino, Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian American and Pacific Islanders, other persons of color, etc.”

Boy, that is a powerful lot of underserving. I don’t know what “other persons of color” entails, not even to mention the “etc.” Is that like a Player To Be Named Later? They have already listed Black, Brown, Red and Yellow. What color is left? Puce? Ecru? For sure, not white. We are read out of the bill, if not the human race. Fine. Who needs to be “served”? Whatever they are serving, I’ll pass.

The most racist people in the world today may be the American left with the focus of their racism almost entirely on white people, which most of them are themselves. These people are mentally disturbed.

Guest Post: Cassie of Sydney – The wokewashing of woman/ women/ girl/ female

We now live in a society in which a war is being waged against the female of the sexes.  Before I continue, let me state the following facts:

  1. I use the word “sex” deliberately, I loathe the word “gender”.
  2. There are only two sexes, male and female. There aren’t fifty-two sexes or genders nor are there seventy-two sexes or genders.
  3. Whilst there is a condition called “intersex”, it is extremely rare.  Intersex people are born with any of several sex characteristics including chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals that don’t fit typical notions of male or female bodies.  The number of babies born with ambiguous genitalia ranges from 0.02% to 0.05%.
  4. We are a sexually dimorphic mammal.
  5. It is impossible to change your birth sex.
  6. Nobody is “born in the wrong body”.
  7.  Transwomen are not women, they’re transsexuals.
  8. Transmen are not men, they’re transsexuals.
  9. There is no such thing as a “female penis” or a “male vagina”.
  10. Transsexuals such as Laurel Hubbard should not be allowed to compete against women in sport.

Free at last! Will it last?

Freedom Day last Wednesday. Had coffee in a café for the first time in, I don’t know, five months, was it? Had lunch in a restaurant the next day. Oh joy, free at last! My club even let me in on Friday to use the gym. When will this freedom ever end? Well, it could end tomorrow, of course, if Perrottet is panicked by dire predictions from the NSW health minister Brad Hazzard or by chief health officer Kerry Chant. Methinks, I shouldn’t make plans too far ahead, when hysterics have the ear of dear leader.

Still, it’s gratifying that locking the State down for months on end, and for the unvaxxed months longer, curbed the virus. It didn’t you say. Apparently, there were 2,558 new cases in NSW on Saturday. That must be a record or something, mustn’t it? Of course, Omicron is having its wicked way. But how wickedly is it dealing with the vaxxed? That’s what I’d like to know.

I looked at the latest surveillance report from health NSW published on 15 December. I suggest some figures are being hidden. To wit, the latest weekly (to Dec 4 in the report) data on the vaccinated versus the unvaccinated admitted to hospitals. They have corresponding weekly ‘case’ numbers. But these are meaningless. They have a breakdown of hospitalisations over six months from June to December. But again, circumstances have changed so much over this period that six-monthly data tells you very little about the most recent trends.

I suspect most of those now being hospitalised are vaccinated. That’s not the kind of message that our betters want out there among the hoi polloi. I checked the latest UK surveillance report (table 9, page 36). Of those 18 years and over entering into emergency care in hospitals in the three or four weeks to the first half of December, 2,965 were not vaccinated; 4,247 were fully vaccinated.

Now you can write glowing reports about the effectiveness of vaccines – and the UK Health Security Agency does – but the raw data tells a tale. As Omicron spreads, I suspect it’s a tale which will test the propaganda arms of public health officialdom and governments.
