China wants a fair swag of the Russian Far East, and has done so for decades. See 1969/70 and the clashes around the Ussuri River.

Breaking up the Russian empire totes won’t end up knee deep in blood.

Stalin was able to bully Churchill and Roosevelt into conceding Poland and other nearby territories to communism because he had major skin in the game (also Roosevelt was a bit Pollyannaish about Stalin). China won’t be as strong at the bargaining table when divvying up control over a post-nuke Russia, unless they deploy troops in support of NATO.

I recall the claim re Pell was adjusted many times by location and years.

They live and learn.
All of the accusers went to great pains to be very specific about the events, but vague about timing.
Partially because a prior accuser had been adamant that he had been abused by Pell “during the summer holidays at the end of 1965” or somesuch precise timing.
Pity that Pell has an old passport showing he was in Rome at the time. But still the homework was sloppy. The accusation that one was abused by Pell at a particular movie theatre during a screening of a particular movie.
Bzzzt.
Movie not shown at that theatre.

Feeling pretty good about his first firing, Marvin looks around the room and asks “Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-off did here?” One of the workers answers “He’s the pizza delivery guy waiting for the money”.

Based on a true episode, involving Frank Packer, who gave a lad, loafing with his hands in his pockets a weeks pay in lieu of notice, only to find he had just sacked the lad from the P.M.G., delivering a telegram…

So true and a Journalist friend of mine told me that one. The lad had used Frank Packer’s private lift to get up to Frank’s Office and Frank was in the lift when the lad got in………………..lol

Wouldn’t those overseas born covid deaths be mostly post war migrants now in the frail aged category?
Iirc there was a break down via region of birth.
I’m not surprised war survivors or even any other class of person born overseas had poorer health in the first place.
Doesn’t mean they and their children weren’t vibrant and productive.

Nonsense.

Post war migrants like my parents were only allowed in if they were young and healthy – they had to pass a medical test. My old man is still choogling aged 95. Around here, there are lots of descendants of the people who came to work on the Snowy scheme, and their grandparents are still visible, meeting for coffee and chatting away in Polish or Ukranian or whatever. They were and are tough. Peasants from Eastern Europe were brutally selected for it – the weak ones died young.

Yes, they are now in the frail aged category, but no, they are not more likely to die because of where they came from. On the contrary.

On the way home, she notices a tear in his eye and asks if he’s getting sentimental because they’re celebrating 50 wonderful years together. He replies “No, I was thinking about the time before we got married. Your father threatened me with a shotgun and said he’d have me thrown in jail for 50 years if I didn’t marry you. Tomorrow I would’ve been a free man!”

“Doc” says Steve “I want to be castrated”. “What on earth for?” asks the doctor in amazement. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time and I want to have it done” replies Steve. “But have you thought it through properly?” asks the doctor “It’s a very serious operation and once it’s done, there’s no going back. It will change your life forever!” “I’m aware of that and you’re not going to change my mind – either you book me in to be castrated or I’ll simply go to another doctor”. “Well, okay”., says the doctor “but it’s against my better judgment!” So Steve has his operation, and the next day he is up and walking very slowly, legs apart, down the hospital corridor with his drip stand. Heading towards him is another patient, who is walking exactly the same way. “Hi there” says Steve “it looks as if you’ve just had the same operation as me”. “Well” said the patient “I finally decided after 37 years of life that I would like to be circumcised”. Steve stared at him in horror and screamed “Shit! THAT’S the word!”

The defence is pulling Ms Higgins’ wings off.

Mr Whybrow said Ms Higgins had asserted in a number of places, including a timeline she prepared for police in 2021, that she had met with police before April 1, 2019.

The defence suggested to Ms Higgins that it was after her meeting with Senator Linda Reynolds on April 1 that she had contact with anyone from the federal police.

The court heard Ms Higgins say the timeline was pieced together retroactively and she was not trying to say it was an “absolute concrete thing”.

Not “absolute concrete thing” evidence bring used to send a man to jail. Must be a high water mark for both prosecution and police.

To quote the old joke, I feel like a mosquito in a nudist camp. I just don’t know where to begin in mentioning the fallacies and lies in this story courtesy of you know who:

Alarm bells are being rung about a looming “sub-prime” crisis that could see banks exposed to the elements and more borrowers turned away from home loans in areas prone to extreme weather.

Climate change is something many borrowers are not factoring in when they buy a property, but risk assessors say it should be top of mind.

Ahmad Tabish and his young family just moved to the regional Victorian city of Shepparton for his new job.

He loves the “beautiful city” but is aware of it’s vulnerability.
Floodwaters fill a street in the northern Victorian town of Shepparton on March 7, 2010.
Floodwaters in the centre of Shepparton back in 2010.(ABC News: Emma Williams)

Shepparton’s town centre is along the Goulburn River. Homes near it are prone to flooding.

Mr Ahmad is considering staying in Shepparton long-term and buying a house there.

“Usually, when people buy a home, especially young people, they do a lot of research in terms of the costing,” he says.

“But I think now there [are] extra factors to study: How’s the topography of that region? The geography of that region?

On and on it goes, about how some areas are prone to flooding, and that ‘proves’ global warmening, and this is all new.

They are not ‘extra factors’, you moron. The location of floodplains is not new information, and nor is the data about past floods – which is a reliable indicator of future floods.

The insurance industry has plenty of form for jacking up premiums in the name of ‘climate change’ instead of accurately assessing and admitting to well known risks. I remember a lot of discussion on WUWT a few years ago about that very thing. US insurers announced that they were jacking up premiums in southern States because ‘climate change’ – across the board. It was based on a few bits of cherry-picked data, and reaped them hundreds of millions while letting everyone know that they were on board with The Narrative.

TheirABC is collaborating with the local leeches doing the same thing.

BTW, about ten years ago I decided to ditch insurance. It has never repaid me a cent for the thousands I paid in, including when I was burgled – they wriggled out of paying.

I lived in a brick house, no fire hazards nearby, don’t burn candles or smoke in bed. Electrics were up to date.

It has saved me tens of thousands of dollars. I do recognise that other people have different circumstances, and it might be worthwhile for them. But, I realised that it is not necessary for everyone. And, even if you are insured, you might well be in litigation for years to get your payout, as fire and flood victims will attest.

Nukes I don’t see as being used by Putin unless NATO crosses the RUS border.
But given the hissy fit (rightly or wrongly) the US had over the Cuban missile crisis, RUS certainly has a precedent for such threats.

However, the above sort of thing could also be dealt with using some pretty nasty weapons – FAE’s (AKA “vaccuum bombs”, AKA “poor mans nuclear weapon”), carpet bombing with cluster incendiaries etc.
And since most of the troops are there to protect family, similar weapons use on Kyiv etc would see a lot of them leave to find and support said family.

In short, there’s plenty Vald can do that, while not very nice, it certainly NOT a nuclear weapon.

“Pauline Hanson probed by Australian Human Rights Commission over tweet”

Of course they are. And here is the perfect epitaph for the last nine and a half years of useless and woeful Coalition governments. For almost nine years the Coalition did nothing to fight the culture wars, they did nothing about their ABC bias, in fact in January of this year they increased funding for the Coalition hating organisation, they did nothing about Section 18C, in fact Abbott squibbed, they did nothing about shutting down leftists organisations like the AHRC, an organisation that exists solely to target conservatives and others on the right.

I don’t think Pauline is too worried, she’s been through far worse, after all, she went to prison on trumped up charges. Pauline should take a leaf out of Sall Grover’s handbook who, when targeted early this year by tranny activist “Roxeanne Tickle”, chose to ignore the complaint.

On Sunday Malcolm Roberts, at CPAC, spoke a fundamental truth about Pauline Hanson, she is the bravest woman in Australia, whilst not perfect (who is) Pauline doesn’t flinch, doesn’t recoil and doesn’t run scared in the face of progressive leftist scum who’ve spent the last twenty-six years targeting her and trying to silence her. House That! Former treasurer Ben Wyatt splashes eye-watering amount on Nedlands mansion
Kim Macdonald
The West Australian
Fri, 7 October 2022 2:00AM

Ben Wyatt is largely considered to have been one of the best treasurers this State has ever seen, but his shrewd economic acumen does not appear to extend to real estate.

“I have got a well-worn strategy in property — I buy at the precise moment the cycle peaks,” he joked of his recent purchase.

After a year-long search, during which time prices for luxury homes skyrocketed, Wyatt and wife Vivianne have just purchased a $3.69 million house in Nedlands.

The price is 37 per cent more than the $2.7 million the same property cost in 2019.

It is also a solid upgrade from his last home, which he bought in Vic Park for $700,000 in 2007.

Fortunately for him, his move from politics into the corporate world has been profitable, though he is clearly working hard for every cent he earns.

He has board positions at Woodside, Rio Tinto, the West Coast Eagles, the Perth Festival, the Telethon Kids Institute, his consultancy Wyatt Martin and APM.

Wyatt, who famously quit politics to spend more time with his family, said the home office was a major drawcard, given he spends 80 per cent of his working life at home.

Study: Web-based tools can help Great Lakes region plan for potential influx of climate-change migrants (Phys.org, 6 Oct)

Communities in the Great Lakes region need to start planning now for a future that may include “climate migrants” who leave behind increasingly frequent natural disasters in other parts of the country.

And user-friendly web-based tools can be a central part of that planning process.

Those are the main messages of a commentary published online Oct. 6 in [science journal] Earth’s Future by a University of Michigan geographer and several colleagues.

Tonight’s brain-chewing worry: So let’s say Putin does fire a nuke at Ukraine. Even with a tactical nuke, the Russians can’t see to reliably strike the far more mobile Ukrainian army, and that’s all tactical nukes are supposedly “good” for. They’ll strike a civilian target.

But where? And with what? Targeting a city, you’d think they’d just go ahead a slap the big city-killer strategic warhead on, but those have too high a chance of being taken out before they hit. Tactical nukes are easier to move, mix in with regular heavy artillery.

So that’s what, but where? They want to hit the heart of Ukraine – a devastating blow they think will crumble Ukrainian resolve (they’re wrong). Honestly, I think they see Kyiv as Russian. Too much Soviet history. And they want Odesa desperately.

Kharkiv is too close to Russia. Kherson is a possibility, but honestly? I think the target would be Zaporizhzhia. The city and region is the nexus of Ukrainian Kozak identity, and that’s formed a large part of Ukraine’s independent nature and cultural history.

I have also had thoughts that Putin would strike a city for political reasons rather than military targets. Hard to pick one that isn’t directly downwind of Russian territory, but I guess when you throw nukes around there is going to be some hair mussed.

May be true quicker than you think.

Taiwan issues ‘first strike’ retaliation warning to China as tensions escalate (6 Oct)

Chinese fighter jets or drones that intrude into Taiwan’s territorial airspace will be regarded as a “first strike”, Taiwan’s Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said.

Speaking at a meeting of Taiwan’s Foreign and National Defense Committee, the minister said: “In the past, we said we won’t be the first to strike, which meant we will not fire the first shot without (China) firing artillery shells or missiles first.

“But now the definition has obviously changed, as China used means such as drones.

“So we have adjusted, and will view any crossing of aerial entities (into Taiwan’s territorial airspace) as a first strike.”

They’re fed up with Chinese aerial provocations, with dozens of PLA jets penetrating Taiwanese airspace. Plus the drones. If the Taiwanese shoot down some CCP aeroplanes the world may be a different place as soon as next week.

The Poms regard the NHS as a national institution. It’s bizarre. Like getting teary eyed over Centrelink.

It’s weird, but speaks to what I have been saying here for years – during the greatest inflow of wealth ever thanks to the Empire, the British upper class cared not a fig for anyone but themselves – although big-noting themselves at ‘charity’ events was part of the public profile.

Right through to the first half of the C20th, the supposedly enlightened and immensely wealthy ruling class in Britain sat by while millions of people had no running water in their homes (hot water? a dream) but had to get their water from a communal pump – in cities like Birmingham, not villages. In the 1940s.

The propaganda campaign with TV shows like Downton Abbey has been going on for decades. All those caring aristocrats.

Yes, today’s NHS is a travesty. Just horrible. But, the reason people are so attached to it is that the alternative was dreadful. It wasn’t Dr Finlay’s Casebook, it was kids dying of diptheria and whatever, or grandma/pa ‘having a turn’ which was their last, because they couldn’t afford a doctor, let alone hospital.

Look at those houses built during the Empire. In terms of multiples of average wages, Bill Gates would have to spend a big chunk of his fortune to equal that ratio.

Indeed, it is hard to work out what he could spend it on in one house.

The British Empire had its good points, but not many of them filtered down to the poorer Brit.

Beating their chests about The Empire, while hundreds of thousands of their countrymen/women in cities could only get water by toting buckets to a communal pump?

Higgins denies she tried to ‘bolster’ rape claims
Remy Varga
REMY VARGA

Ms Higgins has denied she told Fiona Brown, then Linda Reynolds’ chief-of-staff, and her former boyfriend Ben Dillaway, she was going to a doctor to “bolster claims” of the alleged rape.

Ms Higgins became tearful during cross-examination by Steven Whybrow, representing accused rapist Bruce Lehrmann, her eye make-up smudged.

Ms Higgins said she’d told Mr Dillaway about the alleged rape by Thursday, March 28, and she told him she’d seen a doctor, which was incorrect.

When Mr Whybrow asked Ms Higgins to bolster her false suggestions, she said no.

“Nothing you are saying right now is true whatsoever, and it’s deeply insulting,” she said.

Ms Higgins said she’d only disclosed the rape to Mr Dillaway, who was consoling her, and seeking professional help was confronting so soon after the alleged rape.

“I completely reject everything you’re saying,” she said.

“I wasn’t coping because I had been raped in my workplace – I don’t know what you want from me?”

Olaf strolls through the chiller cabinets with the old lady on his back. She selects several puddings and puts them in the basket he is carrying for her. At the other end the old lady’s husband is waiting with her wheelchair. “I’d really like to thank you” says the old lady as Olaf sets her back down in the chair “but I don’t even know who you are!” Olaf just waves and walks off. “I was really worried about you” comments the old lady’s husband. “What have you been doing?” “I’ve been through the desserts on a Norse with no name”.

From their ABC:-

When asked if Ms Higgins deleted things off her phone prior to giving it to police, Ms Higgins responded:

“It wasn’t with the intention of keeping it from police.”

Here’s the thing Britnah. This isn’t The Perject studio. You don’t get to glibly make statements about your intent and have them blindly accepted. The jury will decide whether your intent was malicious. And it is not looking good.

Mr Whybrow asked whether she also deliberately deleted all images of then-minster Linda Reynolds from her phone.

“I never wanted to see Linda Reynolds’s face again so I cleared off any photos I had of working for her,” she said.

“My phone is my home and I just didn’t want her in my home. I wanted her out. I wanted her out of my life.
“I wanted to scrub all the horrible parts from my day-to-day life.”

Uh-huh. Sure.
But then there is this.

But when asked if Ms Higgins then supplied a photo with Senator Reynolds to News Corp journalist Samantha Maiden in January 2021, prior to going public with her allegations, she said she had.

Ms Higgins said the image had been posted to her Instagram for some time.

But not deleted from Insta. Because it was no doubt a photo of Reynolds and Britnah and projected to Insta-world the image of Britnah’s grrrrl-power.

From the “WEst Australian.”

Mr Whybrow showed the court a message Ms Higgins sent to her Chief of Staff, Fiona Brown, asking for a day off to see a doctor.

“The reason you didn’t go to the doctor was because you hadn’t had sex with anyone on Friday night, consensual or otherwise,” Mr Whybrow said.

“That’s not true, that’s not true,” Ms Higgins replied.

“It was to bolster your false suggestion that something happened with Mr Lehrmann,” Mr Whybrow said.

“Nothing you’re saying right now is true whatsoever, and it’s deeply insulting,” Ms Higgins said, becoming emotional.

Mr Whybrow repeated the suggestion that Ms Higgins had not gone to a doctor because she was not raped – showing the court a message she had sent to an ex-boyfriend about another GP appointment.

“The reason you didn’t follow through with any (appointment) was you hadn’t had sexual intercourse with Mr Lehrmann that weekend,” Mr Whybrow said.

“I don’t know if you’ve ever gone through a trauma before but confronting it with professionals is a very hard thing to do,” she told the barrister.

The Jewish guy says “The Romans did it”. The captain says “Right, you’re admitted”.

The Italian guy goes in next. The captain asks him the same thing. “We have to ask you one question first before you’re admitted to the Police Academy. Who killed Jesus?” The Italian guy says “The Romans did it”. The captain says “Right, you’re admitted”.

The Polish guy goes in and the captain repeats the question. The Polish guy says “Gee, I don’t know”. The captain tells him to go home and think about it for a week and come back and tell him.

“Hydro Schemes may be renewable, but they definitely aren’t green”
This plan for building the world’s biggest pumped hydro site in the Pioneer Valley will be a disaster for the region in more ways than one.
Five years ago, Malcolm Turnbull announced the Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro project by saying:
“The plan will increase the generation of the Snowy Hydro scheme by 50 per cent, adding 2000 megawatts of renewable energy to the National Electricity Market (NEM).”
Australians were told the Snowy Hydro scheme would be completed at a cost of $2 billion without any taxpayer subsidy.
It would bring electricity prices down and generate renewable energy with virtually nil environmental impact. None of these claims turned out to be true.
Not only are Australian taxpayers now up for billions of dollars in subsidies but electricity costs have increased in NSW and Kosciuszko’s ecosystem trashed.
Earlier this year, a Victoria Energy Policy Centre Report said ‘Snowy Hydro’ now wants to increase transmission tariffs by more than 50 per cent.
Far from bringing electricity prices down, electricity prices in NSW have risen significantly because of Snowy 2.0.
And far from adding 2000 megawatts of renewable energy to the National Electricity Market, Snowy 2.0 will end up being a net load on the NEM.
For every 100 units of electricity purchased to pump water uphill, only 75 units are returned as the water flows back down through the turbine generators.
Even the Sydney Morning Herald described it as a ‘white elephant’ and the most inefficient battery on the NEM, losing 25 per cent of energy cycled. The Premier’s ‘revolutionary’ scheme here in Queensland will be no different.
The whole thing seems to have been cobbled together without any consultations held with Traditional Land Owners OR the residents and farmers whose properties and community are set to be wiped out by the Government’s costly and catastrophic virtue signalling.
The concept of hydropower may seem like a green solution, but it’s actually a dirty one.
Hydropower dams emit a huge amount of methane, endanger fish species, submerge prime agricultural land and uproot communities.
Some existing dams in the lowland Amazon have been shown to be 10 times more carbon intensive than coal fired power plants.
Over time, they can lead to drastically reduced fish populations. They also change water quality, insect populations, riverside plants, disrupt food production and the entire region’s ecosystem.
These facts alone should eliminate hydro-electricity as either a green OR low carbon energy option.

A cruise ship was wrecked in a storm, and the handful of survivors were washed up on a desert island without food or water.

When dawn came, they saw that the ship was washed up on a sandbar just a few hundred feet away.

However, the inlet was crawling with hungry sharks. The strongest young man volunteered to bring back the food. “I’m strong and I’m a good swimmer. I think I can make it”.

He dove in and give it his best shot, but the sharks devoured him before he had a chance to get close to the ship.

“I’m a clergyman” another man volunteered. “The Lord will protect His servant”.

But he too became shark chow.

Finally, a lawyer stepped forward. “I think I can get to the ship” he said.

Sure enough, as soon as he got into the water, a dozen sharks lined up and escorted his to and from the ship. He made the round trip unharmed and brought everyone some food.

“It’s a miracle!” several of the passengers shouted. “Nah, it’s no miracle” the lawyer replied. “It’s just professional courtesy”.

What is Plan B if you’re wrong? At the moment, you’re having a sugar rush and think nothing can kill you. But what is the plan if UKR advances do not net any large gains while expending a lot of their manpower and materiel by early Nov, and RUS mobilisation and conserving of forces for a Winter Campaign nets them complete victory in the Donbas, and potentially Nikolayev and Odessa by March? Do you proceed to the table then if RUS are open to it, do you fight a purely defensive war from therein with a smaller manpower base, no seaport on the Black Sea, dwindling industrial capacity and a far more reluctant EU that has suffered a brutal winter, or do you escalate?

Sure, there is downside risk for NATO. Winter is coming, as they say in the classics. Russia could hold out in Kherson all winter.

I am pretty confident that NATO can outgun Russia with materiel. As for manpower… well, if Russia actually succeeds in a full mobilisation and there is no question it’s a war, then Plan B probably involves a NATO force of some kind.

Yeah there was from memory and I think it had impact. Harry &Hoodwinkle here were going on for years that battery technology had reached a brick wall that couldn’t be broken. Musk and others are spending billions upon billions on battery tech and about a week ago Musk announced that they may have reached a point where rare earths may not be required with the likelihood costs will come down.

Meanwhile these two Einsteins were posting here we’d reached a limit. When this became too stupid to repeat, they’re now saying half the world in burning down because of massive battery fires.

R&D expenditure is how humans attain new technology and the outlay is really important.

Musk, what a deadshit. Like what the fuck does he know about battery technology.

This is coming from back in July and since then there have been updates.

Elon Musk announced that Tesla sees potential in battery chemistry with a manganese-based cathode.

The CEO reiterated that the industry needs to focus more on the battery supply chain down to the minerals.

During a speech to Tesla Gigafactory Berlin employees following the delivery of the first Model Y made at the factory, Musk was asked about graphene-based batteries.

Like many others in the industry, Musk said he was skeptical due to the complexity of making graphene, but he did say that Tesla was working on making batteries out of more materials.

The CEO reiterated that for the foreseeable future Tesla, like the rest of the industry, will focus on nickel-based chemistries for longer-range vehicles and iron-phosphate for shorter-range vehicles.

But Musk added a brief but interesting comment about a manganese-based battery:

“I think there’s an interesting potential for manganese.”

Tesla has been exploring using more manganese in its battery cells for a while.

At Tesla Battery Day in 2020, Musk said

“It is relatively straightforward to do a cathode that’s two-third nickel and one-third manganese, which will allow us to make 50% more cell volume with the same amount of nickel.”

Today, the CEO didn’t elaborate beyond saying that Tesla was working on it, but it made it sound like it could be a solution along with nickel and iron-based chemistries.

“At very large scale, we need tens, maybe hundreds of millions of tons ultimately. So the materials used to produce these batteries at a very large scale need to be common materials or you can’t scale.”

Several research groups have published papers on promising manganese-rich cathode batteries that could offer interesting options with a higher energy density than iron-phosphate and potentially lower price than nickel-rich batteries.

Manganese is already used by Tesla in some battery chemistries, but it is not the prominent component of any of them.

For example, NMC chemistry used a lot of manganese, and Tesla has used the chemistry for its Powerwall before. Nissan also has used a manganese-rich cathode in the original battery of the Leaf.

The CEO reiterated the need to focus on battery mineral supply to accelerate the transition to electric transport and renewable energy.

Musk said that Tesla estimates that the world is going to need 300 terrawatt-hours of battery cell production in order to transition fully to a sustainable world.

Things are going to get very bad for Putin in the long term

Yes they will, and also for all Ukrainians, all Russians and all Europeans generally. There’s over 100,000 dead already and the war hasn’t started yet.

The sad thing is it was so pointless from the beginning. Russia and Ukraine made a deal, supported by Germany and France (the Minsk Agreement), which would have prevented all bloodshed. Ukraine agreed to recognise Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea and remain neutral, and Russia agreed to withdraw recognition of the separatist republics in the Donbas and Lugansk, and give free gas to Ukraine for five years.

Then the US and UK intervened and the Minsk Agreement was cancelled. Now Russia claims both the Donbas and Lugansk as parts of Russia, and has added Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as well.

Now we’re arrived at Putin’s dilemma. He knows that there will be no negotiated settlement as Zelensky is no more in charge of Ukraine as Joe Brandon is in the US, both are puppets who take orders from elsewhere. Russia can just hunker down and defend its annexed territory, but that will go on forever. That is the situation that Antony Blinken said prior to Russia’s first move into the Ukraine, “it will be a small incursion but a long war.”

Democrat Party donors must be repaid, two years bonanza for the pharmaceutical industry then two years at the trough for the military industry complex.

What will Putin do? He can stay in Blinken’s trap, or break out with massive force and take the whole of the Ukraine to end the war.

Which way will he go?

Oh come on

The jury is out whether the vax worked at least for the Alpha strain. There’s reasonable evidence that in fact it did. Granted, it has possibly been pathetic against the other two strains and that’s a reasonable observation. But we really don’t know. But here’s the thing, billions were spent and this was the first rel big shot (no pun intended) across the bow against the corona viruses. It’s just the beginning and not the end.

I have tremendous faith in human ability. Sure, I agree with you that the way it was handled, in the sense that the pharma companies were given cover in terms of legal problems, may have given them a cop out. However, I would also say folks panicked and we know the end result. It was panic stations in 2020.

There is also a reasonable argument that while the vax may not have been effective against contagion it introduced the virus into the human body and thereby possibly avoiding shock with eventual contraction and severity.

The point is that Hallward was implying with that comment… “oh ho, lot’s of money was spent and what have we got in return” is typical of the miserable empty headed limey contrarion fuckwit.

Brittany Higgins is being cross-examined on the witness stand as the first week of the trial for the man accused of raping her in Parliament House is coming to a close.

Bruce Lehrmann has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual intercourse without consent against Ms Higgins in the early hours of March 23, 2019.

The cross-examination of Ms Higgins began on Thursday afternoon and has continued today, with Mr Lehrmann’s lawyer, Steven Whybrow, questioning the former Liberal staffer on a number of matters.
Ms Higgins has been questioned about a more than $320,000 book deal Lisa Wilkinson’s husband, Peter FitzSimons, helped her secure.

The court heard Mr Whybrow suggest that Ms Higgins had been outlining chapters for a potential book before she had sat down for her first recorded interview with police in February 2021.

The court heard that Ms Higgins received contact on March 16, 2021, that a publisher was interested in publishing her account of events.

Ms Higgins told the court she met Mr FitzSimons at an event and he told her that she should write a book and within a day had come back with an offer.

She said she didn’t ask him about a book deal, saying “he approached me”.

Mr Whybrow said Ms Higgins received contact on March 16 that indicated a publisher was prepared to offer more than $320,000 for a book deal.
