“For 2024
1. He should never have met with those two meatheads
2. He should never have written the last missive.
3. He’s going to turn 78 and he’s too old.”

Yep, there’s one person who has the ability to destroy Donald Trump and that person’s name is Donald Trump.

And for those who think DeSantis weak, nup, I don’t see that. His success in Florida has been built on his ability fighting culture and economic wars. He’s no shrinking violet. He takes on the left and he wins. His win a month ago in the midterms was massive, Florida under DeSantis is now a red state, he won long-term Demonrat districts AND he won young people’s votes and therein lies a very interesting rub. DeSantis gave voters, particularly young voters, something to vote for, there were clear differences between him and his Demonrat rival. DeSantis defied the Covid zeitgeist, he kept the state open when most of the world was shutting down, he took on Disney and they’re just two of his accomplishments (there are many others). You can’t win elections shouting and wailing about stolen elections, you must present ideas and policies. I’m now beginning to think that Hillary and Donald are two sides of the same coin, each wailing at each other and at others about how their respective elections, one in 2016 and one 2020, were stolen. Instead of sending out tweets about stolen elections, Trump should be travelling around the country talking about his successes as president, and his successes were legion.

Which brings me to Oz and the dismal state of our so called “Liberal” party and the latest media opining how the Liberals are finito because young people, particularly millennials, aren’t voting Liberal. Why should they vote Liberal when the party is no different to the Labor party? This was very clear in Victoria less than two weeks ago. As someone said last night on Rowan Dean’s show, Governor DeSantis proves that a right of centre party can win the votes of the young, but to do so such parties and leaders must be prepared to stand up, espouse and articulate policy differences rather than simply ape and parrot the left. I don’t see any such Liberal in this country willing to do so, all they do is cower in the corner. However last week, to their credit, the Nationals did stand up and voice their opinion about the Voice and I can’t tell you how refreshing that was. Meanwhile the Liberals, like a flapping bird unable to get off the ground, are still waggling on the side re. the Voice. Pathetic.

Good writing Cassie.

Now how can we get the Nationals to become the new Third Way, by becoming attractive to city voters as well as rural?

One would assume by standing candidates, but presumably that would split a conservative vote if the Liberals insisted on running a candidate in the same seat.

Meanwhile in Tasmania, a typical example of why Council rates keep going up:

As the Kingborough Council endorsed a plan to make its community more inclusive, one councillor asked if it was going too far, saying it was going further than the “most wokiest” council.

The council endorsed its LGBTQIA+ action plan, which includes providing inclusion training and workshops for staff, flying the rainbow flag on certain days of the year, investigating the possibility for new public toilets to have at least one equal access bathroom and looking into the possibility of staff who work with the community to wear ally badges if they’d like.

Florida under DeSantis is now a red state, he won long-term Demonrat districts AND he won young people’s votes and therein lies a very interesting rub.

He also ensured there was a free and fair vote. I wonder what the result would have been if that had been the case in every state. Certainly, Kari Lake would now be Governor elect of Arizona. They pulled out all the stops to prevent that because they wanted to avoid another DeSantis at all costs.

Farmer Gez at 7:19 – sorta like how Albo can govern in his own right with a 32% Primary Vote. Compulsory voting, compulsory preferential voting is now a real problem for the Lieborals with close to 100% of the Green vote flowing back to the Liars and the non-Liar vote being scattered to the four winds. The Lieborals cannot win government without a Primary vote around 42% or thereabouts. Last Cth election and Victoriastan they were around 37%. Of course, not a peep heard from them despite being in government for the last decade.

Love it when a plan comes together.

Step 1: Cap on coal price complicating federal bid to quell Australians’ energy costs

Step 2:Prime Minister orders coal price caps

Step 3:No bill relief for months as Commonwealth signals cash for states in energy deal

Households will have to wait until July for the federal government’s energy reforms to cascade through to retail electricity prices in a timetable that assumes a national cabinet deal this Friday to guide regulators on new prices next year.

So, not February, then?

“Can you describe what happened?” “Yes, I was walking along the footpath in the park near the trees when a man jumped out of the bushes and dragged me in there, removed my underwear then he dropped his pants to his knees and had his way with me”.

“Could you give me a description of him?” “Yes, he was wearing white shoes, long white trousers, a white shirt and he had these two big long pads from his feet up to and over his knees, one on each leg”. “Sounds to me like he was a cricketer, most probably a batsman” said the Sergeant. “Yes” said the lady “He was an English Cricketer”

Two things that seem kinda odd.
1. Surely the amount of fishing that happens in school holidays is way more than in school weeks. Is the integral of school week catches still greater than the holiday catches?
2. The ban lasts until (dun dun dunnn) 2030 “but if the stocks are still in decline” there will be further “measures” taken (in 2030). There’s that year 2030 popping up again.
3. (bonus) No mention of commercial trawler tonnes taken, just blamed on recreational fishing?

Indolent posted a link earlier to an article linking to this BMJ article:
COVID-19 vaccine boosters for young adults: a risk benefit assessment and ethical analysis of mandate policies at universities.

From the conclusion:

Serious COVID-19 vaccine-associated harms are not adequately compensated for by current US vaccine injury systems. As such, these severe infringements of individual liberty and human rights are ethically unjustifiable.

Mandates are also associated with wider social harms. The fact that such policies were implemented despite controversy among experts and without updating the sole publicly available risk-benefit analysis19 to the current Omicron variants nor submitting the methods to public scrutiny suggests a profound lack of transparency in scientific and regulatory policy making. These findings have implications for mandates in other settings such as schools, corporations, healthcare systems and the military. Policymakers should repeal COVID-19 vaccine mandates for young adults immediately and ensure pathways to compensation to those who have suffered negative consequences from these policies. Regulatory agencies should facilitate independent scientific analysis through open access to participant-level clinical trial data to allow risk-stratified and age-stratified risk-benefit analyses of any new vaccines prior to issuing recommendations. This is needed to begin what will be a long process of rebuilding trust in public health.

After three years, the first paper in a major journal I have seen stating what was bleeding obvious from the beginning of this charade.
Mandates for these novel gene therapies were introduced with no independent scientific analysis.

I would launch every boat and runabout in WA and every one go fishing. There are not enough WA Water Police to ‘catch’ everyone. So, FU WA Guv’ment………………….

But the fishers who are caught face loss of boat and gear even sometimes the tow vehicle and fines in the tens of thousands.

Carcinogenicity and genotoxicity trials, which check for cancer risk and damage to DNA respectively, are not required for COVID-19 vaccines as they do not enter the nucleus and therefore cannot cause cancer or DNA damage.

rosie – do you believe that? I thought genetic therapy of mRNA was designed to alter the cell genetic mechanism to produce certain antibodies. That, of itself, would appear to open the door for mutations that may lead to cancerous growth.

My late brother in law received mRNA therapy for his cancer. It was all experimental, even though the delivery system had been tested over the years. His life expectancy was basically zero without it. With it, he had at least six more years, enough to see his youngest through high school.

That’s his story. As I’m not a doctor (and definitely not a “light doctor”) I don’t know about vaxx delivery. Seems like using a blunderbuss when a popgun would do.

STARLINK FOR RVs
AUSTRALIA OFFER UNTIL NEW YEARS
$924 reduced to A$450 FOR HARDWARE

Immediately access high-speed, low-latency internet on an as-needed basis at any destination where Starlink provides active coverage. A$174/mo with a one-time hardware cost of A$450.

https://www.starlink.com/rv

4WD MODIFICATIONS – COMMUNICATIONS & NAVIGATION

STARLINK BUSH INTERNET SERVICE
This satellite Internet service is now bush-ready.

We installed Starlink at our house in the NSW Southern Highlands, because we became entirely fed up with the lousy NBN service from Telstra. We were without reliable internet connection for three months while they blamed us for its inoperability.

Finally, after my better half read them the riot act, they sent out a technician. Like nearly everyone Down Under, we have Malcolm Turnbull’s el cheapo ‘fibre to the node; copper to the house’ connection and it didn’t take the techo long to find five pairs of incorrect connections.

We figured that next time people were working on that node, they’d bugger-up the connections again, so we checked out the Starlink satellite option. Our mates in Canberra loved theirs, so we bit the bullet.

We forked out $800 for the rooftop dish and modem, and our monthly account is $143. That’s more expensive than Telstra, but boringly reliable and fast. We average downloads in the 150-200Mb/s range and uploads in the 10-20Mb/s range.

Our dish is round – 600mm in diameter – but later models are rectangular – 300mm x 500mm. They weigh around 4kg.

Because it’s a satellite system, we figured it would be handy as a mobile internet service and now that has come to pass. Starlink has around 2000 satellites in place at present and plans to have at least 10,000 in low orbit by 2023.

From July 2022, reliable, remote-area coverage was available, but could only be accessed from a stationary – camped – position.

As of November 2022 Starlink offered a mobile service that was not, as before, limited to working only when stationary. Ideal for RVs, caravans or 4WDs, it’s even available for some aircraft!

For the remainder of 2022, the equipment cost is $450 and the monthly cost is $174. With that, using a VOIP phone service on SL makes traditional satellite phone redundant.

Coverage improves every few days. Almost all of Oz has high capacity coverage and the remainder is low capacity. The coverage as at November 2022 is shown on the accompanying map.

I thought genetic therapy of mRNA was designed to alter the cell genetic mechanism to produce certain antibodies.

Will, that isn’t quite correct. The mRNA is translated to virus coat proteins by cellular machinery, and those proteins are then displayed on the surface of the cell – such as the lining of blood vessels or the heart. Then T-cells come along and detect those virus coat proteins, and signal the production of antibodies.

Unfortunately the spike protein seems to kill the T-cells, probably by cell fusion. Which appears to be why once the antibodies have decayed that immunity goes negative after about 3 months.

The mRNA may potentially be incorporated into DNA if the reverse transcriptase enzyme is present. That’s the mechanism of RNA based retroviruses like HIV. In theory there shouldn’t be any reverse transcriptase in the vaccine liposomes, but there’s no easy way of knowing whether that is true or not. It is also unknown how much if any reverse transcriptase enzyme may be naturally present in cells, for example via other retrovirus infections (not necessarily HIV).

Interesting, in breaking news:

The US has promised Australia that American defence forces, the world’s most powerful, will plug the looming gap in our defences as the navy’s ageing Collins class submarines become obsolete in coming years, as the two nations announce they would boost defence cooperation with Japan to counter the growing Chinese threat in the Indo-Pacific.

Standing side by side with deputy prime minister Richard Marles, foreign minister Penny Wong and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the State department after annual AUSMIN talks in Washington on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT), US defence secretary Lloyd Austin declared the US ““will not allow Australia to have a capability gap going forward”.

“We recognise where Australia is and where its capability begins to diminish and of course we will address that in the pathway we create,” Mr Austin said, leaving the details to be unveiled by the government in next year’s defence review slated for release early next year.

While there may be some good things out of this, remember certain people banging on about being “independent” and “standing alone” and “getting out from under the US’s influence” over the years?

Maybe only the Greens carry on like that now.

He said his costs were 60% of what they were and they own them outright. These are young guys who are making money while they can without all the toys that usually go with it. Between them they help each other on projects so no one is waiting for the other. This is another bonus in 10-15% profit in a project. He meant that in order to fight the Japanese they had to do it from Oz, as the west coast of USA was too far – in those days – to engage and win.

Some of that argument applies today, even with nuclear powered ships that can stay on station forever.

But Oz has always since then been a vassal state of the USA, and underspent considerably on defence as a result.

Warnock will win the GA runoff because Warner, the Trump candidate, is inept and he was a bad choice.

I’m sorry but we need to stop blaming everything on ballot fraud.

Warnock 50.5% leads Walker 49.5% with 68% of the vote counted.

Warnock led easily early when only Atlanta had been counted, but now, with country votes in, it’s a cliff-hanger. However, Ned Ryun, CEO of American majority, thinks Warnock, the wife-bashing Democrat, will probably win because the GOP’s ground game isn’t up to scratch.

A gynaecologist had a burning desire to change careers and become a mechanic. So, she found out from her local tech college what was involved, signed up for evening classes and attended diligently, learning all she could.

When time for the practical exam approached, she prepared carefully for weeks, and completed the exam with tremendous skill. When the results came back, she was surprised to find that she had obtained a mark of 150%.

Fearing an error, she called the instructor, saying “I don’t want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wondered if there had been an error which needed adjusting”.

The instructor said “During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark. I gave you an extra 50% because you did all of it THROUGH the exhaust…”

On the crazy/hot list this chick went 100% for the crazy, not so much for the hot.
Its had all its pathologies confirmed where… at University!!

Women with disability already battle stereotypes. I can’t afford to be an angry, brown woman, too

Its not a disability love, you are just crazy in the coconut.

Growing up neurodivergent, I was constantly seeking new solutions to reduce the barriers that disabled me.
..
But it’s a disastrous cycle. Navigating ableist spaces and comments leaves me feeling drained. I have to be on guard. Without a space to recharge, my over-commitments become unrealistic and, as a result, I end up confirming the negative narratives that people misattribute to my personality….

But I am more than my disability.

I am a brown, disabled, Muslim woman. And sometimes, my intersecting identities only fuel the isolation I feel.

I’ve often felt that I am friends with people who disagree with my identity.

But I don’t have the luxury of cutting off everyone who has offended me.

If I were to cancel every person who made an ableist, sexist, Islamophobic, or racist comment pleading ignorance, I would be truly isolated.

Disabled women are already battling stereotypes labelling us as angry and non-compliant, I cannot afford to add angry Muslim to the list.

My intersectional identities afford me this tolerance for discrimination. To me, this is the cost of my intersectionality.

Embracing my intersectionality has connected me to a rich and diverse community, where I finally feel seen.

She could be 1970s Kate bush with a 10 speed vibrating fanny and a twin, and it would still be too far on the crazy axis to make me stick my genitals near it.

Google Hires Law Firm with Longtime Democratic Connections to Defend Against Republican National Committee Email ‘Throttling’ Lawsuit
Marisa S

According to court documents, the law firm of Perkins Coie is representing Google in the case, which the RNC filed in October.

“Google has relegated millions of RNC emails en masse to potential donors’ and supporters’ spam folders during pivotal points in election fundraising and community building,” the lawsuit says (emphasis in original). “The timing of Google’s most egregious filtering is particularly damning. For most of each month, nearly all of the RNC’s emails make it into users’ inboxes. At approximately the same time at the end of each month, Google sends to spam nearly all of the RNC’s emails. Critically, and suspiciously, this end of the month period is historically when the RNC’s fundraising is most successful.”

Google has denied the allegation.

A frog walks into a bank and approaches the teller, whose name plate says Patricia (Patty) Whack.

“Miss Whack, I’d like to get a $50,000 loan to take a vacation”.

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name.

“Kermit Jagger. My father is Mick Jagger. It will be fine to authorise the loan, I know your Manager”.

Patty explains that she will need to secure the loan with some collateral.

“Sure, how about this” said Kermit as he produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patty explains that she’ll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.

Patty walks into the manager’s office and proceeds to tell him, “There’s a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $50,000, and he wants to use this as collateral”. Patty holds up the tiny pink elephant. “I mean, what in the world is this?”

The bank manager looks back at her and says…”It’s a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man’s a Rolling Stone”.

Apparently, the Netflix ‘doco’ drops on the three month anniversary of the Queen’s burial – just to add a little more salt to the wound.

I think that if Harry had gone off to the USA and done bland ‘eco’ pieces or assorted other woke stuff nobody would have given a toss. But attacking the monarchy, especially the late Queen and probably William and Kate (who enjoy high popularity) is, IMO, a major error of judgement. Even Charles has reasonable popularity at ~55%.

Time will tell of course but I doubt the House of Windsor will merely lie back and think of England. At least, not behind the scenes.

As a Cat once remarked, that Markle woman must be able to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

Did you hear about the teacher who was helping one of her young pupils put on his boots? He asked for help and she could see why. Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn’t want to go on.

By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat. She almost cried when the little boy said “Teacher, they’re on the wrong feet”. She looked, and sure enough, they were.
It wasn’t any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on.

She managed to keep her cool as, together, they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the correct feet. He then announced “These aren’t my boots”.

She bit her tongue, rather than get right in his face and scream “Why didn’t you say so? ” like she wanted to.

Once again, she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the boots off when he said “They’re my brother’s boots. My mum made me wear ’em”.

Now she didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. But she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again.

Helping him into his coat, she asked “Now, where are your mittens?” He said “I stuffed ’em in the toes of my boots”.

She will be eligible for parole in three years.

Trump campaigned as best as he was allowed by the RINO RNC. They are the ones that needed to front up the money, get the ground game happening and … tellingly, support Walker with endorsements etc.

The likes of McConnell / McCarthy etc … nowhere to be seen. Not even DeSantis!!!

Knowing that loosing this Senate seat will make it so much more difficult to win control back in 2024, the fact that Walker had so little support (against a truly corrupt and despicable candidate) just means the FIX is in. And I keep on saying: It is clear that the Dems can NEVER AGAIN lose control of the legislature and investigatory bodies … too much corruption, money and power on the line. And gaol time!
