How long before the blackouts start? Millennials already anxious and depressed at increased rents and cost of living.

It’ll be epic when they suddenly realize they can’t charge their phones.

“Greenwich called Latham a disgusting human being. Two decades previously, Savage mocked and degraded a conservative politician by associating his family name with the effluent created by sodomy. Court is routinely harassed and mocked as a relic of a bygone ‘bigoted’ past. I could go on. Where was the PR damage resulting from that for LGBT?”

Correct, not to mention the physical assaults on right of centre commentators, and politicians. I’m not a fan of Andrew Blot but he never deserved being attacked in the back whilst walking to a book launch in 2017…Victorian police have never bothered hunting down his assailants. Tony Abbott was headbutted in a Hobart street. Fraser Anning was egged in the back at a function, as was Morrison. Nigel Farage was milkshaked whilst walking through a street, Rand Paul was attacked whilst mowing his front lawn, Steve Scalise was mown down with bullets whilst playing baseball. I could go on and on and on, and of course, we all saw what happened last Saturday in an Auckland park where Kellie-Jay Keen was doused with a substance, which I’ve since heard was tomato sauce but it could easily have been a toxic substance such as acid. And it doesn’t matter if it’s tomato sauce, pancake batter or acid, IT IS ASSAULT. And every time there have been physical attacks on conservatives, progressives on Twitter erupt in glee, and this includes own own moron who laughs at the violence, who sneers at the violence and who routinely ridicules the violence as he did last Saturday night and Sunday when the news came in about what happened to Keen in Auckland.

I don’t like Albanese, or Plibersek, or Wong or any of them but I don’t want to see them physically attacked. The plain truth is that 95% of the political violence, along with the vicious political rhetoric, is done by the left and their useful idiots. Progressives on Twitter have called Peter Dutton a racist, a white supremacist and a rape apologist.

Nup, I’m glad Latham is doubling down. The reason why we’re in this mess is because the right have done the right thing and largely been civil and decent. As I’ve said here before, they’ve weaponised our compassion, our civility and our decency against us, to silence us.

It was Greenwich who started this, he was the one who called Latham a “disgusting human being”. And Latham returned serve. Good, no more compassion, no more civility and no more decency.

RAF Cadets wear uniform of their chosen gender

By Michael Powell

Teenagers in the RAF Air Cadets can wear the uniform of either sex under advice warning commanders not to tell parents if children say they are transgender.

Cadets who have begun changing sex can also use the toilets of their chosen gender.

The changes were issued by Air Commodore Tony Keeling, head of RAF Air Cadets, according to a newspaper which obtained a copy of the new policy.

It allows the 43,000 cadets aged 12 to 20 to wear the uniform of their ‘affirmed gender’ regardless of their stage in transitioning.

It also prevents commanders from telling parents that children are transitioning unless they have permission to do so.

Allowances should be made for ‘transgender boys with developing breasts who may strap down chests to make it less obvious’.

A Cadets spokesman said policies ensure it treats people ‘with dignity and respect’.

I reluctantly agree, Cassie. The Left have never fought by Queensberry rules. Whilst no one likes to join your opponent in the gutter – if survival means fighting in that terrain, so be it. You end up wearing the crap – but you can damn well clean up later! Then you can climb up back onto the moral high ground. Yes – you actually can.

In times past the Left sometimes fought with some decency. But the current Greens and the far Left seem to believe “the end justifies the means.”I don’t believe conservatives are without blame. Far from it. But current conservative politicians don’t seem to be able to vent real conviction with the same passion that the Left vent bile.

Mind you, expect the Left and Greens etc to feign offence whenever conservatives “return serve”.

Ignore it.

Just 4% of women back turning toilets gender neutral: Fewer than one in 20 females support the end of traditional ladies’ and gents’ loos, poll shows

I saw somewhere a pundit meditating on the epic queues to the ladies toilets in various venues, and what that would mean in the era of unisex cubicles. Many surreptitiously dampened fenceposts and stadium walls I suspect.

Frankly, I don’t care if (supposedly) mature adults want to have their bodies mutilated foe perverse reasons. Neither do I care if (supposedly) mature adults want to go to a Drag Queens show, or even a live sex show.

Where I do care is if children are “persuaded” or encouraged by adults to mutilate their bodies irrevocably, or are pushed to watch “Drag Queen Story Hour” at school or in the local public library. That is the line in the sand, and leftards like m0nty=fa do everything they can to obscure and blend together the two very different issues.

Those attacks are against specific individuals. That is very different from attacking categories of people. If LGBT people stated all heterosexuals are( insert insult here), that would put them in a very difficult position.

Don’t be silly. While those attacks are directed a specific individuals they apply to everyone that is a conservative or Christian that is opposed to their agenda. The specific individuals are high profile so the lesson taught to lesser known individuals is that this is what we think of you as well, and if you dare to make yourself known, we will destroy you and your family. BTW, Latham didn’t say that homosexuals are disgusting, he said the sodomy was disgusting. Am I supposed to refrain from saying that various forms of perverse sexual activ

ities are disgusting, simply because we invent a group tag for those that partake of that activity?

The accusations were directed at individuals. Whether or not others deduced it was a signal to them is not for me or you to know. I certainly don’t interpret those comments in that way. Most people I know assert their behavior is disgusting. It hasn’t stop them speaking out. I heard such comments last night at a party.

If it doesn’t help the cause, if it only breeds opponents and costs ground in the public debate, it is better not to say it. It is far better to state what I mentioned a few days ago: that homosexuals were the primary vector of AIDS into the wider community, that they have incredibly high rates of STDs, that there is a preoccupation with sexual activity which raises troubling questions about their lifestyle and psychology; especially in relation to adopting children. None of those facts are about feelings. It is about risks to the wider community. That’s the type of rhetoric to use.

Latham hasn’t helped the cause, he may have crucified his chance for PHON support at the next election. He has most probably achieved nothing. More likely he has left himself alienated and his opponents elevated. Wonderful strategy Mark, effing brilliant approach to the problem. Go ahead and say whatever you like but if you don’t think about the efficacy of your rhetoric stay out of politics and public debate.

Oh, and I don’t believe Devil’s Tower is a petrified tree stump, even though it looks like one.
But it is very impressive, and a walk around the base yields lots of wildlife sightings (mainly deer and squirrels, but quite a number of birds too). Some brave souls were climbing it – fortunately they haven’t decided it’s some sort of oogabooga sacred site, unlike here. Equally impressive is the extensive prairie dog city at its base. It looks like a tiny version of the diggings around Coober Pedy.
And no…as we were there in the daytime there were no close encounters with aliens.

Calli, you described everything I saw when we were there in August 2014 including the little screechie prairie dogs. I was trying to zoom in on a group of them out of the car window and almost didn’t see the one that came up to the car to get a good look.

Yes vote an ‘act of generosity’: PM
Remy Varga
Remy Varga

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the proposed Voice to Parliament should be a moment of national unity for Australia and voting yes in the referendum an act of generosity.

“A Voice to Parliament won’t have an impact on most Australians’ lives,” he said in Perth on Sunday.

“But what it will do is have an impact on some of the most disadvantaged people in Australia, on their lives, by giving them a say [and] by allowing them to be heard.

“That’s why it’s such an act of generosity and why I sincerely hope that Australians vote yes, when we give them the opportunity at the referendum later this year.”

If $30 bilion a year has had no effect on the lives of the “most disadvantaged people in Australia”, aboriginals living in remote areas, in the last multiple years, then how will the Screech have an effect?

But it will have a vetry positive effect on the lives of the most advantaged “aboriginals” in Australia, urban activists, and on the leftard politicians pushing this proposal.

Put a deadline in the Constitutional proposal. If the lives of those “most disadvantaged” have not improved in five years, then the Screech is automatically deleted from the Constitution.

Manufacturing Consent(1988) addresses it. Social media has exponentially elevated the risk. The problem occurs in all domains. Two days ago I watched a discussion about the same control problem in physics. Eric Weinstein was critical of the way string theorists had controlled academia and funding over recent decades. Even more sincerely, Uncle Luigi’s political chips are all in on ‘Yes’ – because he calculates that only a progressive, Left-leaning, Labor gummint will have the capacity to manage the relationship the Voice will have with Parliament, the States, and executive government.

I’m yet to see any realistic argument that the Voice will do anything to solve the social decay in the communities, far less bringing the Nation together around some clear unifying vision. Actually, the increasingly febrile humbug warns me of the reverse.

Entrenching an ALP government in the Constitutional machinery is slightly more than I want to pay for a generous warm feeling down my leg.

Something that puzzles me about this “Voice” and those who promote it…if there is sufficient intermarriage, just about everyone will have some Aboriginal background. I know heaps of people here in the Bay who have Aborigines in their family tree.

While there is a perceived “specialness” about a section of the population, what happens years down the track as that specialness is diluted? For instance, Lidia Thorpe is as Aboriginal as I am Irish.

It smacks of that horrible thing for mixed race people in the US long ago when they considered that even a single drop of Negro blood made a person a Negro. The reverse, but the reasoning is exactly the same. It’s simple, grotty racism. And it can’t be proved.

If it’s written into the Constitution it must, perforce, be diluted over time to encompass the entire population or very close to it and therefore becomes void.

They were never going to find another one like that, but it looks like they didn’t even try.
If Dutton signed off on Roshena Campbell as the candidate, then his judgement is hopeless and they’ll hafta move him on.
If he’s got clean hands, then he’s okay for now, but he can’t afford to do that again.

I’m yet to see any realistic argument that the Voice will do anything to solve the social decay in the communities, far less bringing the Nation together around some clear unifying vision. Actually, the increasingly febrile humbug warns me of the reverse.

They’ve already got that covered. In the last couple of weeks I’ve heard a few comments to the effect … the voice won’t solve all the problems. The follow up question should be … what specific problems will it solve?

The No campaign hasn’t even started. Where are they?

If you want aboriginal people to be honoured not resented you don’t go the direction Albo is going.

Indeed.
There is hostility here where I live, because I am seen as ‘controversial’ for my opinion. Been asked many times, what will I do in the referendum, a vehement no is my answer.
Why? Because as I have opined many times, there are enough ‘voices’ in Parliament and indeed society. Whether it be through Aboriginal organisations, which cover health, law etc.
“But you’re a coconut!” I am called by my opponents. To which I reply, ‘how will the voice benefit you? What do you stand to get when you get the Thorpes, the Firebraces, the Atkinsons who dominate Aboriginal affairs?’ (in Victoriastan)
A muffled ‘nothing’ is the answer.
If enough black fellas remember the ATSIC debacle, coupled with the tour de force of Jacinta Price in highlighting real shit, that might get enough Aboriginal people to vote no.
There’s always a but, will it balance the angry white academic vote?

Something that puzzles me about this “Voice” and those who promote it…if there is sufficient intermarriage, just about everyone will have some Aboriginal background. I know heaps of people here in the Bay who have Aborigines in their family tree.

A good case could be made that pretty much everyone who had ancestors here in the 1800s/early 1900s has some aboriginal ancestry. if only because, particularly in rural areas, there was a dearth of non-aboriginal women. But the urban activists will die before they will allow DNA testing on a wide scale. It could overload their gravy train.

As for what the post-WW II immigrants and their ancestors feel about all this, I suspect that particularly the later ones from the Middle East and Asia will be more concerned about the pressure on their finances to support people with whom they have little emotional connection.

Any admonition directed at Greenwich for calling Latham a “disgusting human being”?
That was a very direct, very personal and very cheap and nasty insult thrown at Mark Latham. So why isn’t Greenwich prepared to say sorry too?

Well, we all know why. Greenwich is one of the “in crowd”, ideologically and politically.
He gets a pass. We now live in a country, in fact this is the case across the West, where there are special castes of people who have special privileges. They can do or say anything they like and there will be zero consequences or opprobrium for them. However, if you dare to stick up for unfashionable “conservative” views, you will be silenced and worse, as in the case of George Pell, falsely accused, and then wrongly convicted and imprisoned.

Alex Greenwich is a particularly nasty and sinister homosexual with some very creepy opinions. He’s milking this Latham stoush. He knows he has the partisan MSM on his side, he knows there’s now a minority Labor government and they’ll have to look to one of the independents to back them up and he thinks that can be him. And if that happens, what will ensue? Euthanasia, gender ideology, self ID, and the lowering of the age of consent. Minns is now asking the Liberals to agree to never work with Latham. If the Liberals agree to this, then they deserve to be out of power permanently. As if Labor would ever oblige such a request. If the Liberals had any spine, and of course we know they don’t, they should respond to Minns by saying that “sure, we agree but only if Labor agrees to never work with the Greens”.

As evidenced by the votes in western Sydney, the One Nation vote is growing, and in those areas where it’s growing, it is damaging the Liberals. It pulled quite a few votes in seats like Penrith and because NSW has optional preferential voting, people didn’t preference the Liberals after putting One Nation first and so Stuart Ayres lost his seat. I have zero sympathy for the NSW Liberals, in fact I have zero sympathy for the Liberals across this once great country.

Oh and whilst Latham’s remarks to Greenwich might be condemned in Sydney’s toffy eastern suburbs and north shore, I can hazard a good guess that Latham’s popularity has increased in Sydney’s western suburbs. You see out there, where real people live, we all know the type I mean….manual labourers, tradies and so on, where many are highly religious and where there are significant populations of religious Christians, Muslims, Hindus and so on, they’re not really into the promulgation of homosexual ideology and sexual practices, and they rightly viewed the fracas that ensued outside the church at Belfield, a fracas encouraged by Alex Greenwich, not just with great consternation, but also with great anger. As the head of the Lebanese Muslim Association, based in Western Sydney, said the day after, “stay away from our churches, mosques and temples”. I can’t argue with that.

“He made a meal of the Deeming affair when it was actually an opportunity to stake big claims about religious liberty, free speech, women’s rights, woke extremism, the whole shebang.
The thing is, Dutton is no conservative, as he said in May of last year upon becoming Liberal leader, he’s a “Liberal”. Well that’s great Peter, but you and the Liberal Party refuse to speak up and stand up for Liberal values, such as religious freedom, free speech, limited government, individual responsibility, aspiration and so on.

Cassie, it is so clear to most of us and almost all current and former Liberal voters yet the party leadership is deaf and dumb to anything not approved by the media gate keepers. The only conclusion voters can reach is that they are not wanted and so they don’t vote for the Libs.

your thoughts on Mark Latham’s recent comments to Alex Greenwich? You know, the ones he was universally loathed and ridiculed for, even by Pauline Hanson?

Latham gave an uncouth but clinically accurate description of sodomy, as practised by many homosexual men.

You can object to the lack of couth if that is important to you. But you can’t deny the truth of the description, nor its popularity among the men who attend the gay mardi gras. How can this be ‘homophobic’? It’s what they do. Pretending that homosexual ‘love’ is as natural as heterosexual activity is a lie. Covering up the details is part of the lie.

Most of us know this. Latham simply exposes the truth. It’s, to say the least, a somewhat unhygienic activity, and putting it out there as Latham did is only offensive to the excessively couth and those who want to protect the lie that what homosexual men get up to is something warm and loving and not the least bit disgusting.

Wow, the Yuan is really gaining ground on the big Dollar’s reserve status.

Not!

Barron’s.

China may be Saudi Arabia’s biggest customer, but there’s no sign that Saudi Arabia will price oil in yuan. It makes no sense on several levels, including that the Saudi riyal is pegged to the dollar. When the Federal Reserve changes interest rates, the Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority and several other Middle Eastern countries typically quickly match the move.

The Chinese yuan is simply not convertible. It isn’t a question of technology but policy. China’s foreign-exchange rate is closely managed and purposefully opaque. Its capital markets are developing but aren’t sufficiently transparent. Including the yuan in the International Monetary Fund Special Drawing Rights in 2015 was supposed to spark growth in yuan reserves, but as of the end of the third quarter of 2022, the yuan’s share of international reserves was about 2.75%. The yuan’s share of Swift transactions briefly rose above 3% early last year, but by February 2023, its share had slumped to about 2.2%.

April 2, 2023 7:07 pm

The Bank for International Settlements estimates that the daily turnover in the foreign-exchange market is $7.5 trillion daily. Global trade for all of last year was about $32 trillion. The dollar is on one side of 88% of currency trades, little changed from 1989 (when the dollar was one part of 90% of currency trades). China may be the most important trade partner for more countries than the U.S., but the dollar’s role remains paramount.

Time for EV Class Actions? | Power Line (1 Apr)

Electric vehicles are the South Sea Bubble of the 21st century. They are essentially obsolete, having lost out to the internal combustion engine 100 years ago. Yes, you can make a good car with a battery, like a Tesla. But the cost will always be too high, the environmental consequences are horrific, the drain on natural resources is unconscionable, and charging requirements will always render the vehicle impractical.

This is why EVs need hype to go along with subsidies and mandates.

The accusations were directed at individuals. Whether or not others deduced it was a signal to them is not for me or you to know. I certainly don’t interpret those comments in that way. Most people I know assert their behavior is disgusting. It hasn’t stop them speaking out. I heard such comments last night at a party.

So those comments wouldn’t be made against others that oppose them?

If it doesn’t help the cause, if it only breeds opponents and costs ground in the public debate, it is better not to say it. It is far better to state what I mentioned a few days ago: that homosexuals were the primary vector of AIDS into the wider community, that they have incredibly high rates of STDs, that there is a preoccupation with sexual activity which raises troubling questions about their lifestyle and psychology; especially in relation to adopting children. None of those facts are about feelings. It is about risks to the wider community. That’s the type of rhetoric to use.

Two things, firstly, saying something is perverse is not about feelings, neither is disgust in every instance. Secondly, saying those things is likely to itself attract the same reaction that Latham has in this instance anyway because the people that matter here will infer that this is an attack upon the behaviour of LBGTists and they will attack you as a ‘homophobe’. All the parsing above re Latham avoids the simple fact that one side is allowed to say want it wants, however it wants, while the other doesn’t and it won’t matter how you say it. Did it matter at all that those in Let Women Speak events spoke in simple and plain terms about women’s only spaces? Look at the reception that received in the media. They were silenced, trashed and vilified.

Re the second, what do you think would happen to someone that refused to participate in LGBT activities in a corporate environment or expressed astonishment at corporate celebrations during ‘Pride’ month?

I have no idea what the response would be at a corporate meeting. Stupid question to ask when you know nothing about my background.

Two things, firstly, saying something is perverse is not about feelings, neither is disgust in every instance.

Then learn to be more accurate with your language. If it is not true in every instance then define the instances when it is about more than feelings. The commonly accepted understanding and dictionary references is that it relates to feelings. My prior comments about the consequences of their behavior, the possible impact on the wider community, are very different from disgust. Those are statements about identifiable risk. Because you didn’t make that distinction your comment is rightly interpreted as disgust being primarily about an emotional response.

A political person who does not think about the consequences of their verbal behavior runs the risk of engaging in crazy talk. He might have been better off pointing out that the vilification directed at him was the type of character assassination that the alphabet people too often engage in. He could have argued that it is designed to scare people into submission. That would have put them on the back foot because a lot of people live in fear of vilification from that lot. I get it though, that’s Captain Hindsight on my part and this event highlights the dangers of using social media to communicate. Too easy to go off the handle, be too emotional, and make a gaffe.

Stop shifting the goalposts. My point has always been that our verbal behavior must be structured toward a desired end. Latham verbal behavior has not helped the cause, it has rallied people against him. Even on Sky News they were bewildered by his behavior. Pauline Hanson is very unhappy. All sides of politics have condemned him. Perhaps you might consider that those in the media and politics have a better understanding of how to communicate than a bunch of bloggers. You refuse to address the question of whether or not Latham’s behavior helps the cause. Sure the other side gets away with too much but Latham’s response was lazy, poorly aimed, and he is now missing a political foot.

On Cory Bernardi’s show on Sky some ditzy teenager* is spruiking the Liberal Party and that the young people are the future of the party. I would laugh but it’s too stupid to be funny. And that is how a once major party dies.

*OK maybe not a teenager but definitely a twenty-something who should not be advising anyone of anything particularly after a titanic losing streak such as the Liberals are experiencing.

By the way, Cory Bernardi is a shit interviewer and should not have a show on Sky or anywhere simply for interviewing a know nothing idiot like the liberal chick he just had on.

Monty,

In fact, you and Latham are in a tiny minority of people who think it’s okay to say disgraceful things like that in public, as if that’s an effective way to argue.

It was/is a fact, which don’t care about your feelings.

You, however, have spent the last week here condoning violence against women.
Ask yourself who is more disgraceful.

I’m not sure that m0nty=fa remembers from one day to the next what asinine campaign he is currently pursuing.
