Big earthquake in Acapulco 7.0

Not good.

M 7.0 – Acapulco, Mexico (USGS report)

Fortunately no tsunami though.

I went to Acapulco in the 1970s, arriving by sea from Sydney after some nice zig zags like Tahiti and Noumea.

The first thing we saw getting off the ship was a bunch of guys with machine guns lounging around, presumably the police.

One of our shipmates was an obvious hippie with a dog. They shot the dog. Welcome to Mexico.

I stayed in a glorious hotel on the beach, cheap as chips … bzzzzt … bzzzzt .

Got Montezuma’s Revenge, managed to fly back to San Francisco and spent ten days exuding from both ends, luckily at the home of an Australian official posted there whose son I knew.

Desite making me feel and be sicker than I have ever been in my life, I’ll never forget Acapulco. It is truly gorgeous

Elvis made a movie about it.

Oh yes, by objecting to this specific set of vaccines, I am “racist, misogynistic and don’t believe in science”.

Great work, Justine. What a bimbo.

No one should “believe in” science. At that point, it is no longer science, but a religion.

It is entirely reasonable to demand access to a traditional, attenuated virus vaccine, which you have a choice or not in taking.

is that this is 2021 and over the past two years, we’ve found nearly all data to be fucking useless because most of it is crap.

That’s the thing isn’t it.
I’m confident that there are places with great data collected, like Israel.
But what is released is curated.

NSW health is collecting some incredible data.
It should be available publicly, but isn’t.

Linking the vaccine to Medicare records is clearly set up for vaccine passports.
But by linking it to Medicare records, whether it’s released or not, creates a digital record for life for the person who’s been jabbed & that will show/capture what the inevitable side effects will be.

Peta Credlin currently having a go at the State Liars who, she says, have used the pandemic for political gain. They’ve been holding out, she says, to help the federal Liars get over the line at the next election.

Then the understatement of the year: “the PM must do something about the Premiers.” Message to Credlin: Morrison has spent the entire 18 months of this pandemic using the Premiers as cover.

Not once has he stood up to any of them. He’s been like a mongrel dog angling for a feed from the bad tempered publican – side stepping and stealthily working his way round the yard but never once making eye contact.

In an unvaccinated person, a viral load is akin to an enemy army facing little resistance. In a vaccinated person, the human immune system launches a powerful response and tends to prevail quickly

This is a silly paragraph from the NYT.
The biggest swing factor is the quantum of active T cells you have.
Hence young people could have a huge viral load, but don’t even know it.

Maybe this is why someone like Joe Rogan who has NMN/NAD in his daily regime had knocked COVID on it’s head within 48 hours.

I’m not sure, but I’d posit this. The vax does what it is supposed to, or at least one of its main jobs. It introduces you to the virus, which means if you cop a load the vax may help you fight it off because the body has seen it before.

Rather than trying to answer your scenarios, posit this. Who is most likely to survive out of unvaxed/ vaxxed, very fit people and also comparing unfit vaxxed vs unvaxxed?

Sky News Australia.

White Coat Waste Project founder Anthony Bellotti says the taxpayer funding of dangerous experiments in Wuhan is “far more extensive than anybody realises”.

“Taxpayers who are forced to pay the bill have no clue what’s going on,” Mr Bellotti told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“The extent of what’s going on in China, and specifically the Wuhan lab is much greater than people realise.

“It is not an isolated incident – the 65 taxpayer funded projects is very real and taxpayers have a right to know who’s paying the bills and who’s cashing the checks for all this misery.

“There’s zero transparency, zero accountability and zero regard for animal welfare.”

If you are young enough, the vaccine becomes irrelevant; keep in mind AZ only has an efficacy of 60%.

Sure there is a difference above zero, but it is asymptomatic and likely not statistically significant.

I would love to see those comparisons, JC. Also add environmental similarities such as sunlight (Vit D) and population densities/housing.

The article is supporting the use of these medicines as a precaution/preventative, which is fine. What I object to is the notion that they can stop infection – this is what’s being pushed by the “lockdown the unvaxxed” crowd.

How is typing out a mystery rewording of a Tweet into a hyperlink easier or better than cutting & pasting the whole tweet?

It isn’t, but it forces people to go to Twitter if they want to see what’s being teased.

It’s also what professional traffic pushers do.

Just as lot’s of one line quips are a sign of traffic pushers who don’t have time to do much else lest it cuts into their paid churn numbers.

Of course they also have to brake into the occasional bitter rants against those who recognise pushers, but still, the job requirement is to get as many of the unconverted into the Twitter Brainwashing maelstrom –

Yes its twitter dan sets regional Victoria free sorta kinda what a hero

It is chilling to see how many people are praising Dear Leader.

Trump tricks demonrats into running a clean recall california election because they do the opposite of what he suggests or says.

In-person polls have opened for the recall election of California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, and former President Donald Trump told Newsmax he already knows how it is all going to turn out for the GOP.

“Well, it’s probably rigged,” Trump said on Tuesday’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight” in an exclusive interview.

Trump pointed to California elections processes that weighed heavily in favor of Democrats in the deep-blue state, including the same mass mail-in balloting that he believes undercut his presidential reelection campaign last November.

“When that happens, nobody’s going to win except these Democrats,” Trump told host Rob Schmitt.

Democrats, Trump said, “they’re very good” at winning elections with mail-in ballots versus the in-person vote.”

“The one thing they’re good at is rigging elections,” Trump said.

California’s recall election is a longshot for anyone, including conservative Republican pundit Larry Elder, Trump insisted. “So I predict it’s a rigged election,” Trump said. “Let’s see how it turns out.”

========
In 2015, then editor-in-chief Stephen Leeder was suddenly removed after criticising the decision to outsource production of the journal to the global publishing giant Elsevier.[6] Leerder’s concerns revolved around an incident in 2009 when Elsevier accepted payments from pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. to publish journals such as the Australasian Journal of Bone & Joint Medicine, which had the appearance of peer-reviewed academic works but were in fact promoting Merck.[7][8][9][10] Following the decision to sack Leeder, all but one of the journal’s editorial advisory committee resigned and wrote to Australian Medical Association president Brian Owler asking him to review the decision.

Which Merck? This Merck?

Let’s say that if Ivermectin costs a few dollars a pill, these new medicines will be one hundred to one thousand times pricier. Merck’s Molnupiravir has already been funded to the tune of 1.2 billion by the US government – translated, it means we – our tax dollars – have paid Merck for it already.

Merck, more than anyone, knows Ivermectin to be safe as they developed this drug and used it in over three billion doses IN HUMANS in the Mectizan Program to eradicate River Blindness.

Yet Merck was among the first to cast stones against it. Merck was among the most vocal to denounce their drug regardless of the blood that would inevitably land on their hands. Merck sold us out for precisely 1.2 billion pieces of silver.

We are about the enter into an age of medical apartheid and fabricated pre-crime.

Please. Do not attack other people who love freedom. Put personal stuff aside. Please.

These are dark times. This is no laughing matter.

I have lost my inheritance my father worked for and my grandfather fought and killed other young men for.

If profited them nothing to risk their life or sacrifice time with family.

Why did my grandfather even bother fighting German boys under the control of the Nazis?

This is absolutely appalling. The media have manipulated people who are my friends and family that they laugh at and deride anyone who questions the official narrative.

“I have nothing to hide”
“Just get vaccinated”
“Don’t mention on FB I had an adverse reaction, X will say, ‘I told ya so’.”

The thought of the inherent wickedness of the fabrication of pre-crimes and the utter unnecessary imposition of the COVID vaccine never crosses their minds.

Democracies should never have leaders. Yet they are led by our servants who clearly do not have our best interests at heart.

Anyone against tyranny should be kind hearted to their own.

Re that NYT article, with the 1 in 5000 daily chance of a fully vaxxed individual getting infected, let’s put it in an Australian context.

Assume that around a million were not vaxxed (too young, medical reasons, etc). Then at a 1 in 5000 daily infection chance, there would be some 5000 infections of fully vaxxed people from the remaining population of 25,000,000.

Voller Facebook ruling a legal minefield

Amos Aikman
Northern Correspondent
@amosaikman
44 minutes ago September 8, 2021

Millions of Australians with Facebook or other social media pages could be taken to court or forced to pay damages to third parties if defamatory comments are posted on their sites even without their knowledge or consent.

The High Court on Wednesday upheld a ruling making anyone with a Facebook or other social media page liable for adverse material in the comments sections of those pages – even if they didn’t know it was there.

The decision, which has sparked calls for urgent defamation law reform, could have far-reaching consequences for institutions, companies, sporting organisations and individuals with pages on social media.

The High Court decision arose out of a case involving some of the nation’s largest media companies and the former Don Dale Youth Detention Centre inmate Dylan Voller.

Mr Voller is seeking damages for allegedly defamatory remarks left on media companies’ Facebook pages below posts linking to stories written about him in 2016 and 2017.

The media companies, which include Nine Entertainment, News Corp Australia (publisher of The Australian) and the parent company of Sky News, say they were not aware of the remarks until Mr Voller launched legal action, and that Facebook did not give them the ability to switch off the comments at that time.

A NSW court ruled earlier this year that the companies could be held liable for the material because they “participated” in its publication, even if unknowingly.

The High Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal against that decision, clearing the way for Mr Voller’s action to proceed.

However, the decision could have a wider application because defamation law is not confined to media companies.

News Corp Australasia boss Michael Miller said the decision was “significant for anyone who maintains a public social media page by finding they can be liable for comments posted by others on that page, even when they are unaware of those comments”.

“This highlights the need for urgent legislative reform, and I call on Australia’s attorneys-general to address this anomaly and bring Australian law into line with comparable Western democracies,” he said.

Anne Flahvin, a special counsel at law firm Baker McKenzie, said the finding that anyone who operates a Facebook page could be liable as a “publisher” had implications for every Australian company and community group with a Facebook page.

“The upshot of this decision is that it will not be safe for any operator of a Facebook page to assume that they will only be held liable as a publisher of defamatory third-party comments that they have been made aware of and failed to remove,” she said.

“A recent defamation reform means that a potential plaintiff can no longer commence proceedings – as did the plaintiff in this case – without first formally putting you on notice of the defamatory publication they are complaining about.

“That will be of some comfort (because) it provides an opportunity to consider the alleged defamation and swiftly take down comments that could expose the operator of the internet platform to liability – but it will not be enough to avoid liability for publication for the period the comments were publicly accessible.”

The High Court by a majority rejected an approach adopted by the New Zealand Court of Appeal that an administrator of a Facebook page could not be liable for defamation where they did not know the contents of the third-party posts.

Two of the seven judges took a more nuanced approach by arguing posting something on a Facebook page was not an invitation to third parties to write “any words about anything”. Justice Simon Steward noted that on the approach adopted by the trial Judge in Mr Voller’s case, the operator of a Facebook page could potentially be held liable as a publisher of “unwelcome, uninvited, and vile defamatory comments” by a hacker.

Experts said the finding was a strict reading of laws that had not kept pace with technological advances. Minter Ellison partner Peter Bartlett suggested it would make more sense for publishers to become liable only if, after being notified about potentially defamatory material on their pages, they failed to act.

Not so.
Scummo is obviously well aware of the legal and political power of discrimination and has latched on to the far more awesome power of Elfin Safety:

Dr Faustus,
I agree, but I just noticed a little passage on the safeworkaustralia.gov.au website:

How COVID-19 vaccines work
The COVID-19 vaccines will help protect people by either preventing or reducing symptoms of COVID-19 in the person who has received the vaccine.

At this stage it is too early to tell if the COVID-19 vaccines will stop a vaccinated person from being infected with the virus. This means that a vaccinated person may unknowingly carry and spread the virus to others around them, including workers and others in their workplace. For this reason, you must continue to apply all reasonably practicable control measures.”

Given they can’t (yet) say it protects from the spread of the virus, this could get interesting. Really hard to justify forcing someone to have a medical procedure, or at least opens up future legal problems.

What do the powers that be, know that we don’t? Why this overwhelming drive to vaccinate everyone including children who absolutely don’t need it.

What else is going on in the world.

The materials confirm the grants supported the construction–in Wuhan–of novel chimeric SARS-related coronaviruses that combined a spike gene from one coronavirus with genetic information from another coronavirus, and confirmed the resulting viruses could infect human cells.

My guess is the spike protein was chosen precisely because it is lethal. Which makes the choice to focus on an mRNA vaccine that targets the spike protein, rather than a conventional vaccine, something more than a mere coincidence.

meanwhile in china

China’s nuclear arsenal appears to be expanding substantially for the first time in years. Over the past few decades, China had maintained only about twenty silo-based intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). But recent evidence from independent U.S. experts shows that the country is likely constructing more than 200 new missile silos. China’s current program to modernize and update its nuclear weapons is moving at an unprecedented speed and scale.

what is china preparing for?

Do western government know what other viruses china has up its sleeve? Given that it supported the gain of function “research”.

Are they hoping that the vaccine will protect from some of these other experiments china has been working on? Or is this a trial run?

I am finding it increasingly difficult to make sense of the nanny state on steroids and the global similarity of the drive for universal vaccination, unless of course they know a bit more than they are letting on.

I’ve had a distressing day. A very close friend called this morning with very bad news about her eyesight, which has suddenly halved, and as with Hairy when he had this suddenly happen, the prognosis is not yet determined but could be bad. Hairy was lucky, he had arteritis but not the bad sort that progressively sends you blind in both eyes, just the sort that takes out some of your eyesight and it doesn’t ever repair. A small blocked artery. He’s doing well though, as the brain adjusts to a partial sight loss in one eye. That first night, when the implications were unclear, was a tough one for him, and now my friend, a widow, is facing her nightmare alone. She’s in Tassie. I’d fly down except for wretched lockdown. I am glad she has some family nearby, but she has no children. I spoke to her last week and she was full of plans for the future, now somewhat on hold. This is the worst part, right now, and you will probably have a good outcome, for there is excellent treatment no matter what, I try to reassure her.

NSW Health limits residents of locked-down tower block to six beers per day

Residents in apartment blocks locked-down by NSW Health are having their alcohol deliveries policed as part of a policy to limit the number of drinks being consumed each day.

NSW Health has imposed rules limiting people in “NSW Health controlled buildings” to a certain amount of alcohol each day in a bid to “ensure the safety of health staff and residents”.

Mission Australia’s Common Ground building in Camperdown is the latest building where occupants are subjected to the harsh rules.

Residents of the social housing estate have complained that care packages sent by friends and relatives have been searched before they are delivered.

“They are searching all bags and things coming into the building … They confiscated a series of gifts. So things like bottles of spirits, we weren’t allowed to have those and we still (aren’t),” Common Ground resident Robin Elhaj said.

Residents are allowed to receive a ration of one of the following: six beers or pre-mixed drinks, one bottle of wine, or one 375ml bottle of spirits.

Excess alcohol is being confiscated until lockdown rules are lifted.

Residents can consult with a clinician if they think they need more than the allowed limit.

NSW Health officials advised the state’s crisis cabinet to reopen the economy when vaccination levels were closer to 85 per cent but were overruled by Premier Gladys Berejiklian and senior ministers, who said 70 per cent cover was sufficient.

Advocating for a cautious approach to reopening, NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant told ministers and other officials on Wednesday afternoon that the community should aim for as close to 80-85 per cent of full vaccination coverage before reopening in order to reduce the likelihood of re-entering lockdown.

So is this a drop aimed at making the plebs say thank you to St Gladys?
Or should the punters be even more angry at the health nazis who initially were saying 70% but moved the goal posts to 85% the higher the vax rate went?

Texas “Heartbeat” Law & SCOTUS Ruling EXPLAINED! Viva & Barnes HIGHLIGHT

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9W8ZfVQLOU

It’s a little different to the take I’ve read from a few other parties.
But it does address the big issue of the pro abortion lobby running dead at SCOTUS.
In Oct we’ll see what this was all about, fund raising.
I would expect to see multi year highs in fund raising when initial data becomes available.

Zipster 10.12pm : In Qld. we have our very own Hendra virus with infection from bats to horses to humans. Apparently there is no vaccine for Hendra virus ,there was also the Lyssavirus (rabies) caught by bat handlers where all wildlife carers were urged to get vaccinated so we must have researchers in this country probably the Doherty institute in Victoria. Why the silence if they are the science.

Bill Burr has been doing spots in NY this week.
Only doing clubs that are excluding the unvaccinated.
Turns up with a mask on.
Wear’s the mask inside up until he goes on.
Puts mask on when he leaves stage.
Last night was drinking in the bar of a club, while wearing mask between sips.
Bill Burr’s edgy days are over.
Zeroing in on white women only to the exclusion of everyone else does not make you edgy.

Reading some stuff this morning on the J&J vaccine.
It looks like it’s been very effective against every variant so far & the adverse reactions lower across all age groups.
I’ve always wondered why there was a full court press to get the J&J vaccine booted.

Apart from J&J being cheaper (it’s one & done).
Surely it couldn’t be that.

Bruce from Newcastle, do you have a view on the J&J shot ?

or the unvaccinated, of course, the chances of infection are far higher, as Dr. Jeffrey Duchin, the top public-health official in Seattle, has noted. Those chances have also risen much more since Delta began spreading:

He’s noted it, has he?

Great. Show us the data.

probably double the rate for the vaccinated; so it is 2 in 5000 or basically bugger all

Per the J&J vaccine:

It is perfectly legitimate to ask to wait for a traditional, attenuated virus vaccine and have the choice to take it or not.

I watched a couple of episodes of The Sinner last night, was a bit dubious at first as it’s an ugly start, but as the plot thickened, it got better, the unhappy at home detective though, ho hum, I guess solid marriages don’t make for good TV.

MINISTER WANTS PATRIOTIC EDUCATION
AUSTRALIA’S Education Minister wants students to learn about Australia’s “great successes” and leave school with a “patriotic view” of the country’s history, as contention over the draft national curriculum heats sup.
In a fiery interview with Triple J’s Hack, Alan Tudge, who has spent months campaigning against elements of the proposed new curriculum, said he doesn’t want young Australians to leave school with a “hatred” of their country because otherwise they are “not going to protect it, as a million Australians have through their military service”.
“My concern is that the history curriculum, particularly years 7 to 10, paints an overly negative view of Australia,” he said. “We’ve got a lot to be proud of, and we should be teaching the great things as much as we should our weaknesses, flaws and historical wrongs.
“We want to make sure people come out (of school) with a love of our country, rather than a hate for it.
“(Australia) is not this horrible, terrible, racist, sexist country … We’re one of the greatest egalitarian free countries in the world,” he said.
Final revisions on the national draft curriculum are due by the end of the year.
