If we don’t get this COVID number way higher this wave, the public health nazis will be using this low natural immunity level as an excuse for trying these restrictions & lockdowns forever.

The medical profession has done itself a great mischief over this whole, sorry, sordid event.

I want nothing to do socially or otherwise with doctors or cops after this utter debacle.

Arresting people for buying and eating pizza in a car.
Just two weeks to flatten the curve.

Please self isolate…for the rest of your natural lives.

This is the problem.
The official data says only 536k people in NSW out of 8mill have had COVID.
Say the number is double or triple that.
We still are no where near where we need to be.

It may not be possible to go much higher than that. Let’s say the real number is triple. That gets you very close to the Ruby Princess’s maximum infection rate of 19%.

If the Ruby Princess is representative of NSW then you can only ever have about 1.6M infections.

“If you think about the way viruses behave, biologically, their reason for living is to replicate and spread, and there’s really no advantage for the virus to kill the host,” said Armitage.

I have been trying to subtly plant this thought in people’s heads as I speak to them. We think of a virus as something that makes you sick and can kill you, so people think that is the virus’ goal and its progress would be to become more and more deadly.

A virus that kills its host is actually a dead end. Success would be to be able to slip into a host and for it to continue along healthily with minimal impact. The trend would be to lower virulence – which will likely lead to higher contagiousness, but the asymptotic end to the trend is that everybody is infected with something that does not hurt them.

Fat Tony

I would really love to know all the financial ïncentives” received by government people & politicians.

Recall some discussion a few days back about the powers held by the ATO. Given that the pollies are extremely reluctant to take on the power over-reach by the ATO, I suspect that the ATO knows, and uses that knowledge as an implicit threat against any pollie who shows signs of becoming serious about ATO reform.

Who are we picking as a replacement?

I’m hoping for Priti Patel.”

I don’t know……..Priti talks and talk but doesn’t walk the walk.

The underlying fetid problem in the UK…and here in Oz……and in the US……is the swamp by which I mean the bureaucracy…ninety-five percent of which is now run by far-left parasitical goons. Until there’s a bloody night, akin to GOT’s red wedding, where the bureaucratic goons are dealt with…ruthlessly….nothing will change.

But back to Boris, it says a lot about the elites that they actually thought they could have a soiree with lotsa drinkies on a nice evening in May 2021, on a night when ordinary Britons were being subjected to grotesque lockdown rules, and get away with it. Such is their hubris.

For all those lauding the low death rates — lets wait and see.

There was a 3-week offset between infection (detection/logging) and mortality peaks for delta.

I do believe it’ll still be a very low IFR.. but you can’t compare the numbers at the moment.

Brexit is the only reason Boris Johnson is British PM and the only reason the Conservatives won in a landslide at the last general election.

Johnson is not a conservative and loathes the people who voted for Brexit. The only constituency Johnson listens to is his fruitcake missus, a doctor’s wife-style radical who wants to destroy the British economy with feelgood nonsense popular with teenage girls (and Scott Morrison).

The British Conservative Party id is as free of principles as the Stupid Fucking Liberals in Australia.
If he is forced to walk the plank, I fear he will be replaced with someone acceptable to the British Fucktard Media Industrial Complex who’ll never in a million years vote for the Conservative Party.

Quite possibly so and we’ll have done it to ourselves. It will be hard to tell as the control group of genuinely unvaccinated is allegedly so small and nobody will want to see those numbers vs the vaxxed re Omicron.

We have about 60% vax rate on Gold Coast. Lots now getting covid.

Sadly that includes close family.

So we did the right thing and went to get tested as daughter very likely had it. Qld Health in their collasal incompetence decided to close the vehicle testing option for 2 days, so we lined up, spaced apart, for 4 hours waiting. They put about 20 people in a small room just prior to getting swabbed. A small room where 50% had covid, and more than a few big blokes coughed up lungs – despite a nice sign on the whiteboard saying no coughing.

Seriously.

Now awaiting test results but we’re fairly sure our daughter already had it (due to her symptoms), and the other 3 in our family got it from the testing fiasco.

Getting this fever etc is no fun. Like a rollercoaster of symptoms. Hopefully we get better by end of week.

Then they’ll be after us to have the booster or we are not fully vaxed.

Subscription model.

I got the vax for personal reasons and was a strong advocate for choice, and am absolutely against mandates and creating a 2 class society. The media whores are a huge part of why we’re in this place and they are so dumb it beggars belief.

Legendary goalscorer Sergio Aguero is on the verge of announcing his shock retirement from football because of the heart problem that forced him off during a Barcelona game earlier this month, according to a well-placed source.

Argentina icon Aguero, who only joined Barca from Manchester City in the summer, was forced off in the first half of the Spanish giants’ 1-1 draw at home to Alaves on November 2.

The veteran hitman was rushed to hospital with chest pains after struggling to breathe and had been expected to be out for around three months following evaluations.

Aguero will now retire from the game, according to Catalunya Radio, with Barcelona oracle Reshad Rahman claiming that the news will be officially confirmed within a week.

The five-time title winner with City is synonymous with the club’s rise to become the team to beat in England, not least because of his last-gasp goal at the City of Manchester Stadium with which they sealed league glory in 2012.

Clearly, he’s a 75 year old lardarse, amirite?

Viruses are not sentient.

That is why I avoided referring to what ‘it wants’ or ‘intends’ or such.

But we do talk of species having ‘success’ when it is able to propagate, to dominate a biome or establish itself in a niche where it flourishes unchallenged.

In the case of viruses what we see them do is reproduce. They have no instinct for it as an animal does but it is what the virus does.

1) The vaccine didn’t work. Here’s why that’s actually a good thing: They’ll explain it all in a very brilliant NYT op-ed.

2) Most greenhouse gasses are produced by people complaining about high gas prices: This is all your fault, you ingrate. Stop complaining!

3) Rand Paul only criticizes Fauci because he can’t date him: Just look at the way Rand Paul looks into those beady little eyes. He’s clearly in love.

4) Botched eyebrow lifts are really a sign of stunning bravery: Would you have the courage to walk out of the house like that? Didn’t think so.

5) Climate change is inflicting the equivalent of twelve January 6ths on our democracy every day: Actually, this one is probably true. Greenhouse gases do tend to wander around buildings aimlessly and be almost completely harmless.

6) Companies relocating from California to Texas are transphobic: Why else would people leave California?

7) Inflation actually reverses climate change: Great news! Bring on the inflation!

8) Gov. DeSantis is the cause of all hurricanes: He uses his secret weather machine. What a jerk!

9) The skyrocketing crime rate is the fault of the unvaccinated: To be fair, everything is the fault of the unvaccinated.

10) Afghanistan has become a beautiful, egalitarian utopia: Look! They’re letting women be suicide bombers too!

Omicron is endemic, that’s so obvious to all sensible people that only government could deny the fact.
Testing for endemic illness is pointless and draws resources away from managing those who become acutely ill.
Get back to work, stay home if you feel ill, call a doctor if you’re becoming debilitated and turn off the media.

can I ask how you feel now, about the vax and looming boost

personally, I kinda took the vax on available data that it would be relatively low risk and possibly beneficial. also of course, there was a huge amount of social pressure to do so.

after my own vox-pop yesterday at work it appears that the vast majority of people testing +ve are indeed vaxxed.

seriously, the vaxxed out number the unvaxxed and in my mental spreadsheet the ratio would something like 50 to 4

vaxxed and un-vaxxed +ves all seemed to report about the same level of distress.
a fever and a fart and it was over

there’s only one person I know whose experience with the disease has been a rocky 10 days
she is un-vaxxed and the hospital turned her away and sent her home with an oxy monitor.

True, my statement was for analogous purposes only.

In simple terms, which version of the virus is likely to survive, thrive and dominate?

1. The one that makes it’s host sick and in doing so triggers death or isolation, or

2. The one that leaves it’s host asymptomatic so that they continue on with normal life and allow the spread to continue.

Clearly the asymptomatic one wins at the end of the day. A highly desirable outcome for both parties. Nature is wonderful.

A major driver for Australia’s impending Hunger Games is that we’ve become a nation of supermarket shoppers.

It’s absolutely bizarre. Our local Coles is literally next door to an ‘artisan’ butcher. With another, family butcher across the street.

Coles: zero meat for sale, literally nothing except duck fat and dog bones.

Butchers: full displays, no apparent shortages. No queues of desperate shoppers either.

Similarly the supermarket shelves have been systematically pillaged of items flagged by Professor Kidd as necessities to survive the OmniStorm.

National cabinet will meet today. Here’s what’s on the agenda

What’s on the agenda should have been discussed, agreed and planned for a month ago. So, in government terms: Straight out of the blocks.

One exciting initiative:

…ministers have flagged the possibility JobSeeker recipients could be deployed into workforces that are facing staff shortages.

How about getting rid of mandates?

No they wont. It is politically impossible to ever remove mandates. The sheep love them too much now.

Urban bugthing doctor at the gruinaid…

My bile rises as I’m asked to move my dying cancer patient out of ICU to make room for an unvaccinated man with Covid
Ranjana Srivastava
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jan/13/my-bile-rises-as-im-asked-to-move-my-dying-cancer-patient-out-of-icu-to-make-room-for-an-unvaccinated-man-with-covid

While I was away, her disease progressed. She had begun aggressive chemotherapy and days later, she fell ill. Expecting a conversation about a temporary setback, I encounter a gravely ill woman who is intubated, with failing organs, on maximal life support.

A few hours later, the intensive care doctor calls.

She’s very unwell, he says before getting to the real point.

“I am asking you if we can make an early call to palliate and discharge her from ICU.”

“When?”

“Now.”

My disbelief must be open because it prompts the rueful explanation that a Covid patient needs an intensive care bed.

The pieces fall together instantly. With intensive care at capacity, I am being asked to move my patient to make room for another. “After all, your patient does have incurable cancer.”

My bile rises. And even as I know it’s a petty question, I can’t help asking: “Is the Covid patient vaccinated?”

“No,” he says wearily. “That’s why he is so sick.”

TL/DR: Dying patient taken off the machine that goes ‘ping”for patient with a chance of survival.

I note doctor did not choose to reveal if dying lady have contributed to her own disease since now we are going to start branding patients worthy or unworthy.
Did she ever smoke, drink, engage in risky behavior, get sunburnt, etc, etc…
In which case she must have deserved it
Or something.

Can we please get past the information age and into the wisdom age?

Over the dead bodies of the teachers’ unions.

Dems Want to Pivot Away From COVID, Teachers’ Unions Won’t Let Them (9 Jan)

Facing ruinous polls, Dems decided to pivot from pandemic to endemic messaging, imposing vaccine restrictions, but mostly trying to reopen. Virginia and New Jersey sent a pretty clear message about the anger simmering in the suburbs about the public school situation.

And, at least initially, the teachers’ unions seemed willing to go along. But that lasted about all of 5 minutes in the interim between the Randi Weingarten makeover as an advocate for reopening schools to unions pushing for mental health days and then outright returns to Zoom classes.

Seems that lefty teachers quite like Zoom classes. Presumably they can ignore the difficult kids and mute them and then just keep on going about the Latest lefty fad.

Standardized test scores in California fell during year in distance learning (7 Jan)

‘Above a Third’ of Students Fall Behind During Zoom School Year (15 Jun)

Without the tools to discern lefty bullshit they’ll vote for the green-progressives for life, like so many poor Venezuelans still do.

He is hazza in drag; fucked stupid by a green bitch. It’s unbelievable that a greenie bitch is effectively running England and after one of the biggest election wins ever boris under the influence of this ball tearer will enable commie labor to get back in.”

Yes and no. It isn’t just Queen Carrie who’s to blame. It’s also senior conservatives and their ongoing spinelessness and ineptness. The Tories in the UK are no different to the useless Coalition here in Oz…..they are handed electoral victories yet all they do is go on to squander them and try to appease their ideological enemies. The Tories, despite endless chatter, can’t even protect UK borders. Middle and working class England watch in dismay as Afghani and Syrian Muesli migrants arrive on English beaches and yet Boris and co. say nothing and do nothing. If Boris was a true cultural and ideological warrior, his attendance at a party wouldn’t be such an issue with ordinary Brits. But then someone with their finger on the pulse and someone who respected ordinary Brits would never have attended such a party because they’d be aware of the travesty, of the hypocrisy and of the double standards. It’s clear that Boris has contempt for ordinary people.

He must go. But he should only be the first. It’s the same here.

FAQs – Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Smoking – Quit Victoria

Bugmen gotta bug.

Initial reports were that smoking protects against covid infection. That was before anti-smoking health administration mafia went reeeeeee, we can’t have that, and started putting out the usual reactionary stuff.

I think smoking probably is protective to some extent, since the data is that disinfecting the nose and throat, eg with a povidone-iodine nasal spray, seems quite effective at preventing covid infection.

It would therefore be unsurprising if smokers, who are regularly treating their nose and throat with a mix of disinfecting chemical aerosols, might also get some of the same benefits.

But that idea would be so haram that the Cathedral would squelch it in seconds.

It’s expected the list of sectors classified as essential will also expand following the national cabinet meeting, in order to keep supply chains moving.

It comes after the country’s leading medical advisory group recommended earlier this week that food and grocery workers be able to return to work after being a close contact of a positive COVID case, provided they then return a negative rapid test.

A similar proposal could be laid out for other sectors classified as essential, which could include road, rail and air transport, mental health and education and energy supply.

It’s expected transport and logistics workers would be prioritised.

Meanwhile, ministers have flagged the possibility JobSeeker recipients could be deployed into workforces that are facing staff shortages.

A plan to also increase the hours international students are able to work to 40 hours a fortnight is also being considered as a way to alleviate pressure on sectors hardest hit by the virus.

This is all just another day in a newly minted command and control communist country.

Give us a spell, Humphrey.

In the past two years, the world and America especially have been horrified by the revelation of the fascist nanny state running Australia where the public service Deep State has been making up the Kung Flu rules as it goes along and politicians have realised that keeping the population terrified of Kung Flu helps them win elections.

In fact, beating up bad news stories has been part of the popular press’s business model for decades. It’s only in the past two years that hysteria has been repurposed as a control mechanism wielded by opportunistically fascist governments.

There is ZERO chance of media hysteria about Kung Flu being discontinued because it sells newspapers and attracts millions of eyeballs every night for the 6pm TV news.

Fascists like McClown in WA and Andrews in Victoria have little political opposition while “Liberal” governments in other states mimick Labor regimes while utilising media hysteria about Kung Flu to stay popular.

Far from any thought of proliferating personal responsibilty, Australia is entering a dark age of fear-driven demoagoguery.

It’s the base that doesn’t believe the climate rubbish. That’s why Farage was opining the other day that the Reform Party could well eat the Conservatives for breakfast as the disgusted base switches en mass. Being a FPP system they could easily take quite a large chunk of the seats. The Tories are well behind Labour in the polls, it’s that bad.

Until the Libs work out they’ve been fooled by the bugmen, and defy the climate crazies, they’re not going to succeed here either. What do spoof western Blazing Saddles, cross-dressing comedy Tootsie, boxing drama Rocky and The Wizard of Oz have in common?

Apart from being hugely successful, much-loved films, no connection may spring to mind. But according to a new expose of the chilling effect that ‘wokeness’ has had on Hollywood, all are now ‘verboten’ in industry circles.

Blazing Saddles (co-written by black comedian Richard Pryor) sends up racism with its black sheriff protagonist; Tootsie’s Dustin Hoffman pretends to be a woman to get acting work; Rocky’s bad guy is black; and The Wizard of Oz hired people with dwarfism to play its Munchkins.

Which means none of these classic movies would stand any chance of getting commissioned today, according to prominent directors and writers.

And leadership is what’s lacking.

As I commented a few days ago, when someone was slagging off at most of the Australian population, leadership is the current problem, but good leadership is the answer. Look at the contrast between Chamberlain in May 1940 and Churchill in June. Churchill promised “nothing but blood, toil, tears and sweat”, and the population stood behind him. Chamberlain would have negotiated with H1tler, and the population would have followed him.

Bishop Giacomo Cirulli of the Italian Diocese of Teano-Calvi issued a decree banning unvaccinated priests, deacons, and lay Eucharistic ministers from distributing Holy Communion at Mass.

Bishop Cirulli released the statement to the public via the diocesan website in Italian.

“I invite you, henceforth, to respect and ensure the rigorous respect of the prophylactic and hygienic measures for the containment of the pandemic in our Churches … according to what is envisioned by Protocol between the Italian Government and the Italian Bishops Conference … ”

He added that he wanted particular attention paid to distancing between parishioners while at Mass.

“I prohibit the distribution of the Eucharist on behalf of Priests, Deacons, religious and laymen who are not vaccinated,” he wrote.

And that “during the Celebration [Mass] the hosts on the altar are to be rigorously kept under cover in the sacred vessels.”

In addition to the suspension of distributing Holy Communion by those who had not taken the abortion-tainted jab, all “pastoral, catechetical and in-person formative activities” are suspended from January 9 until further notice.

He ended the decree by citing Pope Francis, who last year called being vaccinated with the experimental and abortion-tainted shot an “act of love.” “Love for yourself, love for friends and family, love for all people.”

Pope Francis has doubled down on his push to have Catholics jabbed with the abortion-tainted substance, calling health care and vaccination “a moral obligation” in his annual address to the diplomatic corps.

Mr Brettler, speaking on behalf of the Duke, added that Miss Roberts was solely seeking a ‘payday’ in making the claims.

One weekend with a cute 17-year-old hooker? I don’t hang with that kind of crowd, but it seems to me simple “Yeah, so what?” would be a proportionate response.

My bile rises as I’m asked to move my dying cancer patient out of ICU to make room for an unvaccinated man with Covid

He may well have been asked to do so anyway. It’s a fairly normal practice if someone is not going to get better – make them comfortable and move them to palliative care. Constant (and expensive) medical oversight is wasted at that stage.

Once my brother was declared soon-to-be terminal in a major Sydney public hospital and a decision was made to remove life-support, he was out of ICU into a side room with only morphine and left to die. Palliation was insufficient btw, he was never after removal from ICU seen by a doc or given further nursing care. At least, Covid madness didn’t prevail. All family members were allow in to visit and stay and say our last to him. We had to walk masked through the ICU to do that.

He ended the decree by citing Pope Francis, who last year called being vaccinated with the experimental and abortion-tainted shot an “act of love.” “Love for yourself, love for friends and family, love for all people.”

The love of God is strangely absent from that formula.

I recall that Bishop Fulton Sheen – the Catholic Billy Graham, if you will – said that the antichrist will sit in God’s temple and promote a religion of the brotherhood of mankind from which the love of [the triune] God is absent.

This is the problem.
The official data says only 536k people in NSW out of 8mill have had COVID.
Say the number is double or triple that.
We still are no where near where we need to be.

Patience, ‘bern, patience.
That daily tally of 70,000 will be 150,000 – 200,000 in no time.
Say, 1,250,000 cases a week by end January.
The Ro number is your friend.
By end February, 93.1% of people will have had it.
And 93.1% of those will be scratching their heads about Omicron being a non event.
Yep.
Some will get sick and a few will die.
Like a lot of respiratory illnesses.

The standing joke has always been that the smallest man gets the biggest gun in the section.

There were two opposing schools of thought in the gang of functioning alcoholics and heavily armed sex deviates who made up the A.D.F. in the early 1970’s/1980/s. One was that the smallest man carried the machine gun – his centre of gravity was lower to the ground, and he wouldn’t have so far to fall – the other was the largest man in the section carried the gun – he could carry more ammunition.

Always fun when some academic proves true what we’ve been saying on the Cat for years and years.

‘We conclude’ or ‘I believe?’ Study finds rationality declined decades ago (12 Jan)

Scientists from Wageningen University and Research (WUR) and Indiana University have discovered that the increasing irrelevance of factual truth in public discourse is part of a groundswell trend that started decades ago.

While the current “post-truth era” has taken many by surprise, the study shows that over the past forty years, public interest has undergone an accelerating shift from the collective to the individual, and from rationality towards emotion.

Key graph. The trouble with this is if you base yourself on emotion not facts eventually rude reality is going to come along and mug you. That seems more and more likely re the crazy climate, Covid and socialism stuff.

interesting article! i had to do some “leadership training” recently and our expert trainer told us:

“It is now widely acknowledged that humans are not rational beings. We think we make decisions based on reason why, in fact, we make decisions and then make up the reasons afterwards.”

I was quite shocked that this is now being openly admitted (and, yes discussing this some ten years ago at the Cat!)…..

Did anyone ever ask old people in aged care homes that we are ordered at the point of a gun to sacrifice our own lives and childrens lives for to ‘protect’ – now two years and counting, if they even wanted the last couple of months and years of their already overwhelmingly dismal prison-institution-like, neglected lives to be under strict and brutal solitary confinement?

Consider that we’re never actually hearing from them. We’re always hearing that it’s best for them from the people that built and dumped them into that system in the first place.

We all know what their answer is.

Rat who detected land mines in Cambodia dies in retirement (12 Jan)

A land mine-detecting rat in Cambodia who received a prestigious award for his life-saving duty has died in retirement, the charity for which he had worked has announced.

Magawa, an African giant pouched rat, passed away last weekend, said an announcement on the website of APOPO, a Belgium-headquartered non-profit group. The organization trains rats and dogs to sniff out land mines and tuberculosis.

Died aged 8. Well done that animal.

Is it possible to believe in God while having no faith in the power of prayer?

Intellectuals can reason themselves into a belief in the probability of God’s existence without ever conceiving of God as personal.

The crucial thing to note is that in the New Testament the key issue is not belief per se but faith, which in the Greek is a synonym of trust. Once you conceive of God – revealed to us by and in Jesus who is God incarnate – as a person in whom you trust, prayer follows naturally.

As I was saying…

The Premier has revealed her “shock” as Queensland records 14,914 new cases and six deaths, marking its deadliest day of the pandemic so far…

Chief health officer Dr John Gerrard two of the deaths were people in their 70s, three were in their 80s and one in their 90s.

Five of the six were double vaccinated, one was unvaccinated and none had had their booster shot. Three died in residential aged care.

thanks for your reply to my “parasite” post.

I had thought of symbiotic, but then came to the conclusion that, although the pollies originally started feeding off their media lackeys to what they thought was their own advantage, the media has morphed into a huge worm, like the one in “Evolution”, and is devouring its former Bot Fly in residence.

Lampreys come to mind. Lampreys grab hold of a passing fish and suck the life out of it. Inside the Lamprey itself are nasty little flukes chewing away at its internal organs.

LOL:

Dr Gerrard said the state will change the way it reports Covid deaths.

“Because of the widespread vaccination in the community and the complex medical conditions it is difficult to work out if an individual patient has died from the virus,” he said.

“From now on we will simply report the deaths and individuals who have had a positive Covid test around the time of their death.”
