The unfortunate long-term consequence of the Lehrman-Higgins case, is that it may have the opposite of an ‘encouragement’ affect on those who have genuinely* been the victim of sexual abuse, but who may fear the potential public/mediascum attention, particularly if there are well-known personalities involved. (But only if the personality is an ‘outsider’ and therefore fair game for reputational assassination by the unarmed state militia).

* Not a reflection of my opinion on this particular case.

Speaking of actual domestic violence offenders, and not just the horrible ones put up by Lisa Wilkinson (the Hun):

Former Australian cricket star Michael Slater has faced court on a slew of domestic violence charges after he was arrested on the Sunshine Coast over the weekend.

Highlights:

He faces 19 charges, including assault occasioning bodily harm, choking and strangulation, four charges of common assault, enter dwelling at night by break, unlawful stalking and breaching bail conditions. All charges except for the bail breach are domestic violence offences.

And:

Police alleged in the documents on December 6, 2023 Slater had sent a woman a text saying “I fell and think I’ve broke my rib” and “Oh, and I need some vodka”.

Slater then allegedly picked up a vodka bottle and raised it above his head, threatening “I’ll f—ing kill you”.

The woman attempted to escape into the laundry area and Slater allegedly launched towards her, grabbed her throat and slammed her into a fridge.

Also:

Later that day (April 12) about 9.50pm, Slater allegedly went to her house and slapped her kitchen window, repeatedly saying “f–k you” and “where’s you daughter?”.

It is alleged Slater demanded to be let inside, telling her to “f—ing open the door” before climbing through the smashed window into her home and continuing his “aggressive and demeaning behaviour”.

Nice.

About 300 messages were allegedly sent to the woman, some which called her a “c–t,” an “escort” and a “slut.”

Documents stated he also allegedly sent a voice messages threatening suicide.

“Get f–ked, you’re a fraud, I’m going to hang my skull at the front of your house,” Slater allegedly said in the voice message.

“How does that f—ing feel, you c–t?

“You f—ing killed me”

Once again, his lawyers are running the ‘mental health’ defence, trying to get the charges downgraded and firmly in handpattery land.

With a bit of good fortune, and given events over the weekend the judiciary might be able to separate genuine ‘mental health’ from ‘I’ve cocked up yet again, it’s all my fault but I will try and assign blame to something – anything – else’, and bin this bloke for several years.

Network 10 could be out of pocket $8m after Bruce Lehrmann winAdelaide LangNCA NewsWire
Mon, 15 April 2024 4:24PM

Network 10 could be out of pocket for millions despite scoring a resounding victory in the defamation lawsuit brought by Bruce Lehrmann, a leading defamation lawyer has revealed.
On Monday, Justice Michael Lee ruled the media company had not defamed Lehrmann by airing an interview with Brittany Higgins on The Project in which she alleged she had been raped by a fellow political staffer in Parliament House during March 2019.
The justice found Lehrmann had been so “hellbent on having sex” that he “did not care one way or another whether Ms Higgins understood or agreed to what was going on”.
He ruled in favour of Network 10 and said the question of costs would be determined at a later date.

MinterEllison partner Peter Bartlett, who successfully led Nine’s defence against Ben Roberts-Smith’s defamation claims, estimated Network 10 and its former presenter Lisa Wilkinson have paid $8m to defend themselves in the defamation case brought by Lehrmann.
Despite the victory, Mr Bartlett said the media company will likely face difficulties in recouping their multimillion dollar costs from Lehrmann, who is currently unemployed.
“By all appearances, Lehrmann doesn’t have a deep pocket,” he said.
“So clearly Channel 10 will be out of pocket because they won’t be able to recover that quantum of costs from Lehrmann.”
Mr Bartlett noted Network 10 could have Lehrmann declared as bankrupt, but it would still be a challenge “to get blood out of a stone”.
“At best they’re going to be able to get a couple of hundred thousand dollars but they’re not going to be able to get much,” he surmised.
He drew parallels with the Ben Roberts-Smith defamation fight, in which Nine were able to compel media magnate Kerry Stokes to pay costs because they had funded the lawsuit.

The incident happened on Monday night just after 7pm at Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church, where Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was saying Mass.
Bishop Emmanuel can be seen speaking to the congregation before a man walks up to him and allegedly stabs him a number of times.
The young man dressed in all black can be seen approaching the altar where Bishop Emmanuel was standing before allegedly stabbing his face and body before people tried to stop him.

PA, that thought had crossed my mind fleetingly as I read the judgement. Lee certainly appeared to me to be going out on a limb with the things he claimed happehed without a skerrick of proof. The whole tawdry event of a couple of tubbies doing or not doing something is a lot of feelz. As plod said in the beginning, there’s not enough evidence and thats without the litany of lies flowing from all and sundry. Lee can say “I tried my best, its up to the appeal judge if there is an appeal”. He squibbed it. Spineless. Looking forward to the revolution.

Lee really gives it to Sharaz, which is odd how he didn’t mention him today as a sack of shit like he did with the chap from Channel 7.

He made an oblique reference to Sharaz when talking about Britnah’s credibility, noting that a particular thing had happened “before Sharaz was involved”, implying that post-Sharaz Britnah was less credible.
Strange that he should observe that her evidence was “malleable”, but only in the hands of one person.

In Rome at the moment after 3 days in Amsterdam. Many tourists in both cities. We inadvertently visited Keukenhof which had a spectacular spring garden display(I had no idea it was the height of the tulip flowering season and the garden is world famous).

The Dutch host was up to speed on the Sydney stabbings and like many of us thought it was a Muslim maniac running amok.

Similarly in Rome the well informed concierge assumed the same and even queried why they had ruled out terrorism without knowing the motive.

We spoke to a Floridian family at the Vatican who were going to vote for Trump and saw the lawfare for what it was.

The statue of the Dying Gaul at the Capitoline Museum was magnificent, one of the great works of Western civilisation-thanks Tinta for the recommendation.

In contrast the visit to the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel was an absolute ordeal due to the crowds. We booked a small group tour in a laughable attempt to beat the queues. Little did we know that there were dozens of ‘small group tours’ mixed in with the thousands of other punters.

Even before it opened on Monday the non tour queue was a good 500m long and then there was the tour group queue joining from the other side.

It was jam packed from start to finish which meant 2 hours of shuffling past one thing after another with the guide babbling something incomprehensible in your ear and being jostled by various bipedal lifeforms some of which clearly had not being paying enough attention to matters of personal hygiene.

It weren’t like this 30 years ago I can tell you.

OK. The Oz today & the breakfast TV stations is reporting a massive incident in Sydney’s SWest. An Assyrian Christian church leader attacked by a young offender with a knife and suffered injuries. He was restrained by parishioners until po,ice arrived. But by that time huge crowds had arrived – seemingly in support of the offender as they attacked police with bricks and paling torn from neighbouring houses! Many injuries to police & their vehicles. Offender “known to police” & is said to have explained his action as having been offended by comments made re the Prophet ( not the Christian one!).

More trouble in the EV world.

Tesla to Lay Off More Than 10% of Its Staff (15 Apr)

Tesla is laying off more than 10% of its global workforce, an internal memo seen by Reuters on Monday shows, as it grapples with falling sales and an intensifying price war for electric vehicles (EVs). …

Tesla shares were down 5% at $162.42 late on Monday. Shares of EV makers Rivian Automotive, Lucid Group and VinFast Auto were also trading between 2.2% and 10.7% lower.

Weaponry systems in Ukraine, many of which were supplied by European countries, have been rendered unworkable, not due to Russian interference, but because of damage caused by mice and other rodents. Seemingly, these creatures have developed a preference for cable insulation made of corn fiber over synthetic materials. This predilection leads to malfunctioning electrical installations, rendering the expensive equipment essentially worthless, and requiring rapid overhauling.”

More battery fun.

Is a BAN on Home Batteries in Lofts Coming? (15 Apr)

The gist is that official electrical installation guidance is changing in the UK, to strongly advise against the installation of batteries in the likes of lofts, cupboards and even garages. …

Given that even garages may not provide adequate ventilation, will batteries have to be installed outside the house? (In which case, what happens when it rains!)

Logically you’d have to have a solidly built battery shed well separated from the house and garage. Which would make them even more expensive to install.

Turned up 10 minutes before appointment .. no other folk there .. waited 20 minutes before being called by a nurse .. 25 minutes for a heart check and go over, question by question, paperwork I filled out 3 weeks ago .. then a 30 minute wait to see an anaesthetist, who had wandered in & out of his office several times during that period .. 10 minutes to go over most of the written questions/answers I’d been thru with the nurse .. then sat down, outside, again for another 20 minutes before the nurse turned up and said, “That’s it you can go” & gave me a paper of do’s & don’ts for the 24 hrs leading up to the surgery ….. duuuuuuh! ..
I got the impression that all this waiting around was more to do with staff filling in time than anything else .. there were several nurses wandering around but in the whole time I was the onIy customer ….. nearly 2 hours for around 40 minutes activity ……

Seems unlikely ..! .. The Islam population is centred mainly around Fairfield cbd/retail area .. the Assyrian/Maronites are from Fairfield Heights thru to Edensor Park/Waverley/Horsley Park so for the Islamists to get to the church would be anywhere from 30 to 60 mins drive, depending on traffic, well after the locals would have gathered ……

I see from the febrile reportage of Lehrmanngate that Lee J has apparently sorted out one of the great (to me, anyway) mysteries of the romantic evening in question:

“Given he had satisfied himself, and that he knew his girlfriend was awake and was attempting to contact him, calling an Uber and getting out of the Ministerial private office with celerity (and leaving Ms Higgins undressed) is the action of a cad, but is nonetheless explicable.”

No problems with the judicial concept that shaggery was front of mind, or that Bruce might be an utter cad.

But the idea that, having porked Brinny in the Minister’s office, Bruce would just bugger off home leaving her unconscious, nekkid and dribbling on the couch for someone to find suggests reckless lunacy and an inexplicable lack of self preservation. Strangely unexplored by Hizonner.

But, there we go.

That’s nice.

Some actual physical evidence to that guilt would be nice too.

On this basis the good judge might think the next offender is a pumpkin. And who could disabuse him of that? He appears to know everything.

The big flaw in Lehrmann’s story was the ever-changing reasons for returning to Parliament House, coupled with his over-inflated ego. One story was that he went back to make some Very Important Notes about a Very Important Conversation about French submarines (which apparently had never been discussed whilst they were on the piss).
If you need to construct an alibi, pick something totally mundane and obscure (even knock up some draft notes on Monday morning as a cover). Plead that, yes, it was silly to go back to the office for that, but you just felt the boss was going to be on your case on Monday about it.
And stick to the story.
I don’t buy Lee’s take on the complications of going back for keys as against simply going home to knock on the door. Any chap who has gone out for “two beers” and is heading home at 3:00 a.m. would rather gouge their own eyes out than wake the bride.

The armourer who loaded the gun that killed a cinematographer on the set of the Alec Baldwin movie Rust was sentenced to 18 months in prison by a US court.
Hannah Gutierrez stood impassive as a judge in the state of New Mexico told her she would serve the maximum sentence after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the October 2021 death of Halyna Hutchins during filming of the budget Western.
“You were the armourer, the one that stood between a safe weapon and a weapon that could kill someone. You alone turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon,” Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said on Monday local time.
“But for you, Miss Hutchins would be alive. A husband would have his partner and a little boy would have his mother.”

The teenager who allegedly stabbed Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel has allegedly claimed the Bishop had “involve(d) himself in (his) religion”.
The Daily Telegraph has reported that videos of the incident show the alleged attacker speaking in Arabic.
The rough translation of what the alleged attacker said, while lying on the ground inside the Church in police custody, is: “If he didn’t swear at my Prophet I wouldn’t be here. If he didn’t involve himself in my religion I wouldn’t be here”.
The teenager allegedly stabbed Bishop Emmanuel at the Assyrian orthodox church on Welcome Street in Wakely about 7.10pm.
The 15-year-old alleged attacker remains in custody this morning and has undergone surgery.

Moreover, and this is an age-old problem articulated by philosophers as diverse as Plato and Heidegger – average minds are easily swayed by the cultural zeitgeist, by arguments from authority (whether from priests, politicians, ‘experts’ or celebrities), and especially by public opinion. They fall, regularly, for every contemporary trend. Look, for example, at the uncritical attitude and acceptance, from the majority, to the Covid-19 measures.
People with average intelligence are decent, kind, trustworthy, extraordinarily capable in ways that leave more intelligent people scratching their heads in admiration, not the least bit lacking in street smarts, and know implicitly what is good for themselves and their families, (especially when government policy negatively affects their wallets). What they are not, though, is particularly interested in abstract thought.
The impact of intelligence on politics and culture has become clear in recent months. People who six months ago couldn’t spell anti-Semitism are now parroting the most harebrained anti-Semitic delusions, without knowing much about Jews, Israel, Arabs, Islam or the modern history of the Middle East. In the words of Heidegger, people ‘fall’ into the ‘they’.

Molly the magpie has finally returned to its Gold Coast home and been reunited with its unlikely best friend Peggy the Staffy.

Molly, the Mortensens and their staffies found friends in high places along the way in Queensland premier Stephen Miles who advocated heavily for the bird’s return.

A specialised election campaign flavoured license more like. DESI were probably fed up with all the calls from Miles’ minders.

It was a senseless, gut-wrenching horror. And it could have been so much worse, given the crowds of people within an arm’s length of the deranged, knife-wielding Cauchi. That it wasn’t is down to the courage of members of the public – and a solitary police woman.

These strangers could have fled or, in the case of the cop, waited for reinforcements. Doing so would be completely in line with the ‘don’t be a hero’ mantra of our risk-averse times. They could have retreated, whipped out their smartphones and recorded the lethal violence at a safe distance, before uploading the footage to a social-media platform of their choosing.

So, while we should applaud and admire the heroes of Westfield Sydney, we shouldn’t be surprised by their actions. Time and again, ordinary people reveal extraordinary depths of bravery. Their example should never cease to inspire us.

PM to ‘Bollard Man’: stay as long as you likeRhiannon Down

Anthony Albanese has declared a French national who fought off Bondi Junction attacker Joel Cauchi with a bollard is “welcome to stay for as long as you like”, following revelations his visa is due to expire.
Footage of French construction worker Damien Guerot brandishing a bollard at Cauchi to prevent him from climbing an escalator and potentially attacking more people, emerged on Saturday following the rampage.
“This is someone who we would welcome becoming an Australian citizen, although that would of course be a loss for France,” the Prime Minister said.
“We thank him for his extraordinary bravery.
“It says a lot about the nature of humanity at a time when we are facing difficult issues, that someone who is not a citizen of this country, stood bravely at the top of those escalators and stopped this perpetrator from getting onto another floor and potentially inflicting further carnage on citizens.
“I think that on Saturday we saw some of the best of human character at the same time as we saw such devastating tragedy.
“And I thank Damian for his extraordinary efforts.

Did the Israelis think they could attack the Iranian embassy in Damascus without triggering a response?

Dunno DB. I saw Naftali on Fox last night and he said that all this fighting of proxies in Yemen, Gaza and Lebanon could go on forever. Israel needed “to strike to head of the octopus.” I do think Israel needed to send Iran an “F-U” but not sure bombing Damascus was the way to go? I dunno.

Either way, they’re in it now and perhaps better be in direct confrontation with the head, rather than the proxies?

Did the Israelis think they could attack the Iranian embassy in Damascus without triggering a response?

They potted the IRGC brigadier general who planned Oct 7 plus at least one senior Islamic Jihad guy (although that guy may’ve survived). They were engaging in an act of war against Israel.

Israeli bombing of the Iranian embassy [sic] in Damascus (wiki)

The suspected primary target of the attack was the Quds Force commander of the IRGC, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who was killed in the attack. According to The Guardian, Zahedi was a critical figure in the relationship between Iran and Hezbollah. NYT reported that an anonymous source from the Revolutionary Guards said that the strike targeted a meeting between Iranian intelligence officials and Palestinian militants, including leaders [plural] of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who were discussing the war in Gaza. …

Sixteen were killed in total, including seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) soldiers, five Iran-backed militiamen, one Hezbollah fighter, one Iranian advisor, and two civilians.

I think therefore the question is whether Iran, IJ and Hezbollah thought they could engage in this hostile action without triggering a response. And as you see they got a response.

Detectives understand the group of men, armed with various weapons, launched their frightening attack inside the Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melton about 5pm.
Multiple witnesses say they saw the group, who they believe to be teenagers, throwing chairs and waving knives and machetes around.
One woman, who was forced to flee with her five-year-old child, said she was “disgusted” with the group given the horrific events that took place at Bondi Junction on Saturday.

Not really. Israel swore to exterminate everyone responsible for Oct 7. It turned out Zahedi was very high up in that responsibility tree.

He’s now joining the Munich Olympics guys in a very warm location. They can discuss their relative experiences of having really pissed off the Israelis.

Israel wants to assassinate terror leaders worldwide. It’s not the first time (8 Jan)

Last week, in response to the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre, Israel promised a repeat of the covert “Wrath of God” assassination campaign launched after the deadly Palestinian terrorist attack on Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

As it did half a century ago, Israel plans to neutralize those it believes are responsible for the Hamas operation that killed 1,200 people, saw 240 people dragged back to Gaza as hostages and launched a war that threatens to expand into a complicated regional conflict.

The Mossad is “committed to settling accounts with the murderers” behind Oct. 7, David Barnea, the chief of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, said last week.

Arndt going: Lehrmann pulls pin on conferenceStaff writers

Bruce Lehrmann has withdrawn from appearing at a conference called the Restoring the Presumption of Innocence just a day after Justice Michael Lee found he raped Brittany Higgins.

“Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins,” Justice Lee said in his conclusions on Monday.
“I hasten to stress, this is a finding on the balance of probabilities.”
Mr Lehrmann was set to appear at the conference in June, however sponsor of the event Mothers of Sons confirmed on Facebook he will no longer be attending.
“In light of recent events, Bruce Lehrmann has decided not to appear at the Restoring the Presumption of Innocence conference,” the post read.
“He is being subject to extremely aggressive pursuit by the media and is concerned that his participation may threaten the audience, jeopardise this important event, and distract from its main purpose.”
The event, set to take place at an unknown location in Rushcutters Bay, was organised Bettina Arndt with Australians for Science and Freedom (ASF).
A petition has been formed to cancel the event following over concerns it could cause harm or damage to the victim survivor community.

He didn’t root stormy; that was established when the skank’s lawyer jailbird Avenatti sued Trump for defamation and lost and Trump had his costs from the slimy duo worth $500K which is more dosh then stormy has earned spreading her thighs in her slutty life.

As for this grotesque case against Trump professor Turley sums it up:

“This case is, creating something, it’s creating a criminal code just for Trump. You know, you have a misdemeanor whose time has expired, the statute limitations ran out, and it was revived in this rather curious way. He’s effectively arguing that Trump was filing false business records through his counsel to hide a federal crime. But it isn’t a federal crime, this wasn’t a campaign contribution. None of that appears to matter, and that’s why a lot of us are looking at this and recoiling. This is not how the law is supposed to be.”

‘A Melbourne shopping centre was locked down on Tuesday after a fight broke out between two groups of young people.’

7 News

Would it not be in the public interest to know who these “two groups of young people” were (generally speaking) and what the cause of their animosity against each other is?

Mention of a machete could be a clue.

Funny how journalists suddenly fall into line with their code of ethics on such questions.

You would think these idiots would take pause after what happened in Bondi

Yeah, right. Listen you silly woman, those stupid savages don’t give a rodent’s backside about you, your kiddies or your delicate middle class sensibilities.

Take off the rose coloured glasses and try and develop a slightly more realistic perspective about why such violent inbred idiots are in this country in the first place and who just might be responsible for this.

Then start voting accordingly.

If the strike was ‘theatre’ why does Israel think, at least openly, that it must respond?

Stop listening to the zombie in the WH. Israel will do exactly what they think is required.

Report: Israel Readies Air Force to ‘Forcefully’ Deliver ‘Retaliatory Counter-Strike’ Against Iran (15 Apr)

Israel’s reliable Channel 12 news carried the initial report on Monday, which has since been widely covered by local media in the Jewish state.

Here’s more:

Israel has decided to hit Iran “clearly and forcefully” and is already preparing its warplanes to carry out the strike. The reported decision comes after two war cabinet meetings in which leaders of the Jewish nation debated how to respond to barrage of 350 suicide drones and missile.

Channel 12 said the country’s air force — which includes US-made F-16, F-15 and F-35 fighter jets — is already gearing up to deliver a retaliatory counter-strike against the rogue Islamic nation, though no timeline was provided. According to the report, the strike will be intended as a message that Israel “will not allow an attack of that magnitude against it to pass without a reaction.”

Israeli military chief Lt. Gen Herzi Halevi confirmed Monday that Iran’s actions “will be met with a response,” but also declined to elaborate or indicate the timing, suggesting that Israel will strike Iran at a time and method of its own choosing.

Recall Operation Praying Mantis? Thirty six years later and the Iranians appear to have forgotten. It sounds like the IDF think a similar refresher lesson is required. Interesting that Praying Mantis occurred on 18 Apr 1988. I wonder if the IDF likes historical dates?

350 Iranian ballistics shot at Israel.

I say 350 Israeli Air Force’s Python 5 missiles upon Iran’s head.

Precisely my point. The strike was significant

In some ways the Israelis were too successful. Normally a Pearl Harbor style attack would be an immediate casus belli for a declaration of war.

Israel doesn’t seem to be going in that direction. Because the Iranian strike was such a debacle I suspect they feel they can’t trigger the military alliance with the US into a formal war with Iran. Which would be certainly justified on the events.

If they feel they can’t declare war formally and trigger the US alliance then the alternative would be unilateral action. They could obliterate the Iranian Navy without a declaration of war, just on the moral basis of an appropriate response, and Biden would have no leg to stand on to object.

It’s an interesting thought bubble to think what if the US had intercepted and shot down 99% of the Japanese air attack approaching Honolulu on 7 Dec? Would Roosevelt then’ve declare war? Or done something short of that?

There’s a sex orgy going on on the balcony outside my door, has been for the last few days.

No, it’s not a bunch of Parliamentary staffers after a big night, it’s paper wasps, the orange and brown ones, Polistes humilis. Every year about this time, they congregate around here and, as the saying goes, f*** their brains out.

It’s a frenzy – threesomes, multiple partners, you name it.

Reading up on these wasps, I found no mention of this behaviour, although there were all sorts of theories about female dominance and interbreeding as survival mechanisms – ‘evolutionary’ psychobabble.

Yet, not one of the several sources (including heavy duty ones) mentioned the autumn bacchianalia that I have witnessed for years.

In Victorian times, citizen scientists contributed valuable information to the mainstream. The ‘official’ scientists could not be everywhere.

Yet, when it comes to the common paper wasp, the articles I read were all about theories of hierarchy and whether they were likely to sting. Having cohabited with them for years, unless seriously annoyed, they don’t, but some of these dickhead ‘academics’ tried to puff up their articles by claiming that they are potentially dangerous.

As for all the attempts to put their behaviour into the framework of post modern sexual politics – what a betrayal of science. What nonsense.

AFAIK, after the end of year party – which is magnificent, BTW – the males die (sorry guys) and the fertilised females hole up somewhere for winter. In spring, they emerge and start new nests.

That’s it. Genetic diversity is ensured by the orgy currently going on outside.

If they can mess up a simple thing like paper wasps, what the hell are they doing elsewhere in science?

Did the Israelis think they could attack the Iranian embassy in Damascus without triggering a response?

The Israelis didn’t attack the Iranian Embassy. That’s propaganda BS.

They are accused of hitting a building in Damascus that lies between the Iranian and Canadian embassies. One which was employed as the headquarters for the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) efforts to support and coordinate iran-backed terrorist groups attacking Israel. A completely legitimate target.

Proof? Eight IRGC officers were killed, not a single diplomat was scratched.

But all the civilians running the other way don’t have a glock on their hip. That’s the problem.

No problem just the opposite. They don’t all have a glock on their hip because they don’t live in a violent society where every man and his brother is likely to be armed and nutters and crooks are 10 a penny

The muzzies are well armed and there are more illegal guns in Australia then legal.

The US gun crime rate, once you remove black and hispanic gun crime, usually with illegal guns since most of it happens in demorat cities which have gun restrictions stricter than Australia, is about the same as the rate in Australia.

The issue is not guns but a citizen’s right to self defence, which applies to being in public as well as in their home. We saw how effective that self defence right was at Bondi. What would you have done if you had been at Bondi?

Alice Springs three-week long curfew lifts
The youth curfew in Alice Springs has been lifted after nearly three weeks.
The curfew, which was introduced on March 27 following violence incidents, was in place between 6pm and 6am for people under the age of 18, prohibiting them from entering the CBD without a “lawful purpose”.
Northern Territory Chief Minister Eva Lawler told the ABC she received reports rates of domestic violence lowered during the curfew.
“The issues that we see in the suburbs were the issues you would probably see in the suburbs in Alice Springs, it was, though, that we had additional police there, so any of those issues got cleaned up pretty quickly from the reports I was getting from the police,” she told the ABC.
“The advice that I was given, that there was less domestic violence.
“One crime is one crime too many in Alice Springs, and that is the frustrating thing about that town, because it is an amazing town.”

Started watching CIVIL WAR last night .. only lasted 30 minutes, couldn’t get into it .. lotza violence but little explanation of what was going on seemed like a standard blood & gore shoot-out but may improve for those that stay longer .. Have to admit tho Kirsten Dunst almost kept me there .. but not quite …… I realise the appeal is being set in the US of A but what I saw was following any of the average shoot-em-up plots …..
Did luv the way driving along a wrecked vehicle strewn highway they flopped across the other side and got a clear run thru … as you do in
we-is-the-heroes type scenarios LOL!

Gung-ho Pingelly shearer Luke Vernon has broken the world eight-hour record, shearing 500 Merino ewes to break Lou Brown’s previous record of 497 set in 2019.
The New Zealand-born 28-year-old became an official world record holder on his first attempt on April 12, in a spectacular performance at Doug Dougal and Ashe Young’s Thornton Park shearing shed, near Pingelly.
The World Sheep Shearing Records Society has verified Vernon’s 500-ewe tally made up of successive two-hour runs of 120, 126, 126 and 125.
Vernon, who shears fulltime for Pingelly Shearing contractor Rob Cristinelli, said he fulfilled a “dream” to be the first man to shear 500 Merino ewes in one day in world-record time.

I get sick and tired of people talking about the towns and countries they live in being fantastic places. And as for one crime is one too many. FMD. Unicorn farts smell so sweet. Alice Springs is in the Shiite Town category every year. Canberra is no better than Alice Springs and in many ways much worse. Something can be done about the Alice, a spine from government to start with by not putting up with the crap behaviour and start to have expectations and responsibilities from all concerned, not the faux concern by the grifters of every hue. The biggest problem to me is throwing money at it. The more money the more grifters with their hand in the till. All the problems I’ve had in life are self inflicted and until I took responsibility none of them were sloved. My 3yo grandson already understands if he doesn’t behave at my place I don’t want him to come over. Of course he still has his moments, he’s 3. This thing about its everyone else’s fault has to stop. Adults blaming others for their own poor decisions is pathetic. FOAD. I no longer care. I’ll only help people that help themselves. Enough is enough.

John Bolton had an interesting take on the situation:

“How long until Iran has a nuke?”

“72 hours.

You’re right DB, we’ve passed the deadline for when Iran should have nuclear capability but from reports I heard they were still at 80%, who knows.

I took that to mean it would take that long to get a nuke from Pakistan.

Um, 120 + 126 + 126 + 125 = 497, not 500.

This ruling is not the criminal standard of beyond reasonable doubt. He says, she says, but she says prevails and Lehrmann ruined. Balance of probabilities – hmmm.
Ms Higgins did not have the 11 drinks forced down her throat, nor forced into the uber, or into Parliament House in early hours.
Judge Michael Lee put emphasis on the fact that Higgins couldn’t get her shoes back on at Security, which showed how inebriated she was.
They were strappy stilettos which when totally sober require good balance and dexterity to get the strap around the back. Try it.
His words “I have no doubt that Ms Higgins’inability to put on her shoes was caused by her state of inebriation. ” and later words to the effect, “it can’t be that difficult”. It is.

Haha, word is getting around how leftist sucky it is.

‘Civil War’ Takes Box Office Spoils With $25.7M Opening, Best Ever For A24 – Sunday AM Update (14 Apr)

A24 is calling Civil War at a $25.7M opening, largely fueled by Democrat and Liberal moviegoers, but with overperforming business in some Red state regions like the South and Southwest.

Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak polled Civil War attendees’ politics reporting that 22% considered themselves Liberal, 19% were Democrats, 11% considered themselves moderate, whereas registered Republicans (6%), Evangelical Christians (6%) and politically conservative folks (5%) showed up as a minority.

Five percent of the audience were righties. Five percent! Obviously those unfortunate people don’t read Breitbart or they’d’ve known better:

Having read through today’s snippets…Thanks Tom etc … I have seen no reason to excoriate you folks … this time … but notice I am always “Awaiting Approval” ..must be worrisome to be needing to have everything aproved before you can read it … So Much for Conservatism … Rock Ribbed … and Free Speech ? Likely in a gesture of magnanimity My comments may be allowed eventually … Just to make a point …. eventually … Oh Gosh !!

  1. Good points Rosie, but you’re fighting their strawman. Strawmen. Strawpeople. You know what I mean. Assault, theft, abduction, have always…

  2. We plan ahead because of FFP tickets. Also, we ditched sailing on Queen Anne through Suez next winter because politically…

  3. Not a single Victorian aboriginal isn’t predominantly European by heritage …I saw a pic of a participant yesterday; white chap…
