As long as we have compulsory preferential voting we have to default to “at least he’s better than the alternative”. Once again, Labor have nothing much to offer except that Morrison “has a woman problem”. I see that Plibeserk and Lambie have sprinted to the front of the parade, and it’s all rather reminiscent of the pogrom against Abbott. Both Morro and Abbott have qualities a lot of women appreciate, but in politics the truth is often a casualty regardless of timing.

Those matters — which are at the hearts of a dispute between the New South Wales branch of the Liberal party and the Federal Executive over who has control of preselections — have been brought to the High court as a constitutional issue.

FHS how can this be a constitutional issue when the Constitution of Australia does not mention the Prime Minister nor does it mention political parties? sounds like a pakapoo ticket

The Australian has an article about AGL’s plans for a sort of Energy Disney World on the site of NSW’s largest coal fired power station, Liddell. No comments are allowed atm, probably because they know what a pasting the readers would give it. They have had to do the same with those awful Perry Williams articles.

Right, and the Arab states are ridiculous entities that only exist as discrete nation-states due to their oil wealth. Bar the oil wealth, Ukraine is *exactly* like an Arab state. All of the historical attributes that tend to confer statehood are absent.

Seriously, GTFO with this ahistorical nonsense. It’s not even correct about the Arabs. It’s just neoconservative projection.

I must say I feel the same way about Dover’s hero Aquinas. I admire some aspects of the man, but at root it’s dishonest. Fixing up the axioms to get to where you want to arrive at takes some intellect, and in science it may be fair play, but in theology it’s cheating.

How is it dishonest?

To show how poorly advised the Biden Administration is, the million barrel per day release from their strategic reserve will impact storage capacity once that works its way through the system.
Already this morning I’ve read a few notes from some energy guys saying it increases the likelihood of another storage issue at expiry like what happened during the first half of 2020 when the oil price went negative.
They are that short sighted.

Perfect analogy in fact feeding a vegan diet to carnivorous animals is comes under the Animal Cruelty Act — how many Mary Ellen Wilsons will it take to gaol the perpetrators of the evil child abuse which is the transgendering of children?

Did I read last night that another Labor leader aspiring to the PM’ship has regaled the electorate with the story of struggle and impecuniousness, as forgotten outcasts of society?

We had the boy from Balmain, and more recently the boy who lived in a car.

I think he is being disingenuous when he says his mother taught him the value of a dollar. The lesson he took was the value of other people’s dollars, thus his gravitation toward Labor.

As for his single mother – I can’t help wondering if she was not single because his Dad couldn’t stand the whiny snaggle-toothed runt in his midst, who stubbornly resisted all efforts to correct his speech defect. Perhaps he planned to get ahead by ‘finking’, in which case he has been faithful to his accidental ambition.

What a thuckwit.

How is it dishonest?

It purports to give arguments establishing such things as the existence of God from purely logical if metaphysical assumptions. But the assumptions have been selected to give the right results.
You can do this in Physics because the last step is to confirm the result by experiment and observation, but in theology you stop before that, because you’ve got to where you wanted to arrive. It’s a clever swindle.

“This Polish Ambassador on Fox News is very impressive – already, Ukrainian children are being given places in Polish schools and Ukrainian women accommodated in the Polish social security system. The Poles are a righteous people & we should all be helping the Poles”

Firstly, he’s 100% correct. But remember, Poland and Hungary are being subjected to US/EU sanctioning and censoring because they refuse to bend the knee to the whole sinister LGBTQIARSE crap.

Secondly, not reported (of course) but there have already been several cases in Germany where Ukrainian women have been raped in refugee shelters by adherents of a particular ideology.

Let this also be a reminder to the West that this is what refugees look like – when they reach sanctuary they are grateful.

This is to be contrasted to rafts of what have dishonestly been called refugees from Africa and the Middle East that have washed up on Europe’s beaches, who seem to be under the impression (largely through the acquiescence of European governments) that when they paid money to a people smuggler to sneak them into a country, that country (not party to the deal) immediately incurs an obligation not only to bend over and supply lubricant, but to beat themselves up as ‘dirty little whores’ because their new ‘guests’ dislike effort.

The Azov name is being branded as Nazi but ignores the real history that dates back to the Azov Cossacks who defended the Azov/Black Sea coast against Turks and their French and English allies.
The French were humiliated by the Azov when they tried to land and control the entrance to the Don River.
The Cossacks evacuated the remaining Russian units who were bombarded by the French navy and stood alone to face the French. They stopped any successful landing on that stretch of coast.
The Azov Cossacks are legendary in Ukraine.

If this piece in the NT News sounds like meaningless expensive fluff, it’s because it is:

CLP have become a ‘party’ to the Aboriginal Justice Agreement, meaning both Labor and CLP will be responsible for upholding and funding the 48 actions to reduce incarceration.

Yes, well.

[T]he AJA commits to centring Aboriginal leadership in community. Law and Justice Groups are been established across the Territory with the support of the Aboriginal Justice Unit. The groups help community foster better relationships with police and courts.

Importantly, the article fails to mention how much this will cost the ordinary punters, nor what the ’48 actions to reduce incarceration’ are.

I could have told them what 48 actions to stop going to jail are. They all start with ‘DON’T’.

You also refused to take whatever wager I offered. If you can find whatever we agreed to, I will cough up.

It’s too long ago to recall the payoff, but I offered something if the EM drive accelerated one kilogramme at one tenth of a gravity for some time, with two years for it to be accomplished. I think I said ten minutes, but you pointed out that it would have a speed of about six hundred metres per second and have travelled three hundred metres, too much to be done in a lab. So I reduced the time to ten seconds. I can’t recall how much we bet. It wouldn’t have been more than $100, and probably only amounted to a dinner not at MacDonalds. It’s not worth my time to dig up the details. You can if you want to.

I vaguely recall saying I would be thrilled to bits if I lost, but I would back conservation of momentum against wishful thinking.

So Zelensky wants some of our Bushmasters? I say give ’em hundreds. Let the Russians blow them sky-high, and we’ll build and send hundreds more.

The principle strength of our Bushmasters is their resistance to mines/IEDs, which is conferred by their ‘V hull’. This feature was prescient given the design was conceived in the 1990s (before the experience of the Iraq and Afghan wars). By my memory we
had a

bout 50 blown up in Afghanistan without a fatality, although this was partly fortuitous – I saw similar US V hulls completely obliterated by buried IEDs after the insurgents learned to offset the pressure plate so the charge was centred under the hull, not under the wheel which triggered it.

In contrast, flat bottomed vehicles like the ASLAV, Hummer or even tanks suffer more when exposed to such blasts. I believe we used to place our LAVs behind Bushmasters in convoys due to this.

Their resistance to kinetic weapons is however much more limited, being rated to resist 7.62mm rounds only. This means they would be very vulnerable to the 12.7 and 14.5mm weapons widely used in the Russian Military.

In addition, their wheeled (and only 4 at that) rather than tracked chassis might limit utility in the softer/muddier conditions common in Ukraine.

The ones who vote conservative are class traitors. Howard tapped into them to great effect, and Layba will never forget the theft of hearts and minds rightly belonging to them.

Trouble is, they’re all rich now. And not from any job remotely deemed “productive”, more from insider knowledge and manoeuvring at best, outright graft at worst. And the new guard are already from the top tier of wealthy, but we don’t let that factoid get in the way of wooing the wokkas.

All they have left is getting their drones to stir up trouble at mill (like my nurses with placards yesterday), helpful leaks from the disgruntled (looking at you, Ms Unspellable Hyphenated) and a media tonguing for a change of government.

They won’t be any better than what we’ve got. They’ll most likely be worse. They’ll definitely sell us out faster and more entertainingly.

The idiocy of CHOs and Viktoriastan:

AN ongoing mandate to keep primary school students masked in classrooms is restricting learning and must now be wound back, several leading epidemiologists and paediatric experts say.

Victorian students in grades three to six are still required to don the face coverings, while their secondary counterparts don’t need to mask up.

A chance for True Believers to show what they’re made of money-wise:

Julia Gillard’s former Altona home goes under the hammer this Sunday as the vendors part with their shrine to Australia’s first female prime minister.

The ex-PM closed out the year she was ousted by Kevin Rudd with the $921,000 sale of 9 Medford St to Zheng Wang and his wife Jain at a pulsating December 2013 auction.

The family — big fans of the former Member for Lalor — splashed about $220,000 more than the expected sale price to secure the modest three-bedroom home.

Daughter Charlotte Wang said her father purchased the house as a gift to her mother and they had used it as “a gathering place for friends and family”.

“It was of significance to us as it was Ms Gillard’s house … the only female prime minster of Australia,” Ms Wang said.

Levic Group agent Tony Zhang said the sellers had met Gillard at an event before she became Prime Minister and had proudly maintained the property in her honour.

“During their nine years of ownership they didn’t live there or rent it out,” Mr Zhang said.

“They used it only for special events and parties.”

Artistic red bollards are a remnant of the high security from Gillard’s time as PM from 2010-2013, coinciding with her ownership of the home since she bought it for $140,000 in 1998.

Mr Zheng said the family had great respect for Gillard being Australia’s first female prime minister, with a signed autobiography on show in listing pictures, even purchasing furniture similar to what she had in the home.

Today, before the rabble arrived, one little one came along looking for a feed. I gave it some bread, and observed that it appears to b cross between the scaly and the Rainbow! Has a blue head and Scaly chest!

Anchor – Yes they can hybridize. The breeders cross them to get olive rainbow lorikeets. I read up on that because I have had a family of wild rainbows with that mutation. One parent was normal and the other olive/brown and blue where normally purple. They had two kids that year one of each type. Very Mendelian. Here’s a photo I took at the time.

They came back a couple of years later with two more kids, again one of each type. So the mutation was fairly stable. Haven’t seen them since then though.

Ah, that’s better.

Momentum is conserved – the Unruh waves are the countervailing force.

What is really up for debate is if anything like the Fetta drive, EM drive or MEGA drive can deliver a non negligible force on at an economic level that is scalable.

Mc Cullough also has a reasonable explanation of cold fusion derived from first principles quantum uncertainty ( I think he starts with Planck). The problem is that it seems to be random and not scalable.

The MO diagrams really make that hippy one-ness electron thing seem totally crazy.

If they’re both valid, then there is a point when we don’t understand what is happening, we just know cause and effect and the mathematics of some of it.

Theoretical physics is a really loose cannon sort of field. Being good at maths can be dangerous. The absolute worst economic forecaster I have met has a PhD in mathematics and is a total crank.

There are five dimensional solutions to Maxwell’s equations that also overcome their shortcomings – except they are total crap and fail empirically.

Apart from credit and bond risk, I can’t take some of the math heavy economics seriously outside of econometrics.

Do we really need pages and pages of triple integrals and PDEs to explain two or three firm oligopoly? Test it empirically, for pete’s sake.

‘No more cops killing our mob’: Reko Rennie’s new film hits home with stark message
Kerrie O’Brien
By Kerrie O’Brien
March 31, 2022 — 4.53pm

Rapper Briggs as Sensei leads the chant, “What do we want?” and his students respond in unison: restitution, land back and equality. Most powerful is their final demand: no more cops killing our mob.

It’s an image from artist Reko Rennie’s latest film, What Do We Want?, named after the traditional protest chant and opening at ACMI on Friday. The timing of the release is particularly powerful after the acquittal of a police officer on trial over the death of Aboriginal teenager Kumanjayi Walker.

Crucial to the film’s impact is the soundtrack by Adam Briggs, who is Yorta Yorta, and Daniel Rankine (aka Trials), a Ngarrindjeri man – who together make up hip-hop act A.B. Original. The three-channel work has influences from martial arts to the Blaxploitation films of the 1970s, both of which Rennie grew up with, and was commissioned by Artbank, which provided $70,000 to make the work.

The cast includes Rennie and his daughter, and includes friends, colleagues and actors, “all these different language groups represented”.

As well as making a powerful statement about the injustices suffered by Aboriginal people, the film is a cry for action, something Rennie says is sadly lacking from our federal government.

His outrage and frustration is clear in the work, the product of decades of abuse and inaction on many basic fronts. “Land, justice, law, education, health, equality and land back; it’s crazy today there’s all this Crown land that still has not been returned to communities,” Rennie says. “We’ve got mining organisations earning billions off Aboriginal land and communities see such a pissy little amount, and that’s meant to make everyone feel OK. Well, it’s not OK.”

Different parts of the film reference the Black Power movement. At one point, the students stand, right arms raised, with fists in the air, mirroring the Black Power salute. It’s a reminder of the American civil rights movement as well as the stark differences between black rights here and there. We have such a long way to go, says Rennie.

“No more cops killing our mob”….there’s a very simple solution…

EXCLUSIVE: Celebrated NT cartoonist Col Wicking has ditched the NT News to continue his famous cartooning career at the NT Independent citing professional integrity and employment security as reasons.

Mr Wicking had been a cartoonist at the paper for more than 30 years, and drew his last cartoon on Thursday, in which he seemed to suggest a cat was glad he had finished cartooning, or he himself was the cat, and he was glad to be finishing up.

Regardless, he bowed out from the NT News on a triumphant high.

But what he had kept secret was that he was not in fact retiring but moving to a new outlet.

Mr Wicking said he was joining the NT Independent because of the integrity of the publication and he didn’t know how much longer the NT News would exist for.

“I kind of give them another six to eight weeks probably, and then I reckon they will fold,” he said.

“There doesn’t seem to be that much point or interest in keeping it going. Although Gerry Harvey might shed a tear or two.”

He said he had also been inspired by, and deeply respected the humour on NT Independent owner Owen Pike’s former ‘Gumment the Lover’ Labor government Facebook fan page.

Could be something to do with the date of course….

Theology does not cheat; if science upholds an axiom, it cannot be that theology by upholding that axiom is cheating. On the other hand, when theology questions a scientific outcome, often only a probability, it questions the premisses and not the science, and these must remain questionable for otherwise that would be cheating, which theology won’t do. I think.

Test it empirically, for pete’s sake.

Been doing that Dot. For forty years. Many of the patents I got were from stuff that theorists said wouldn’t work, but did in practice. The difference is that theory always has to be simplified, whereas the real world has complex interactions that you cannot mathematically model. This is one of the reasons why I liked Mellor’s Treatise (1922) so much, since it was the last of the chemistry texts that was fully empirical. I got several patent ideas from it. After that time there was too much to fit in even a series of volumes and all the interesting interactions were forgotten.

Btw you should get cracking on those star drive ideas. There’re a lot of new tourism destinations.

Its a subtle point, but vaccines are NOT antibiotics and viruses do not become ‘resistant’ to vaccines. What is actually happening is the immune system itself is failing to control the virus, despite the ‘heads up’ from the vaccine. This is much more serious.

Energy crisis lifeline: Fracking order ‘lifted’ to boost UK supplies ‘just in time’ (31 Mar)

Cuadrilla chief executive Francis Egan said: “I would like to thank the Prime Minister and the Business Secretary for seeing the light and realising – just in time – how absurd it would have been to force us to pour concrete down Britain’s only two viable shale gas wells in the middle of an energy crisis. … Mr Johnson reportedly started to consider lifting the 2019 ban on fracking after coming under pressure from 34 members of his own party.

I’ve never made a prediction about battery life extension except that I’ve said I wouldn’t bet against Musk. I was right.
The incel did and got it wrong by over 100 %. This isn’t a good argument for the thought leader to make and it’s even stupider than the “we make nafthink”claim.

Don’t bet against Musk is a decent and observable claim.

“`Ed case,
Would that be sorta like Australia has the *legal* right to invade China to protect the human rights of *ethnic* Australians who are nonetheless only citizens of China?”

Ed has a point, although probably more “forcefully” expressed than I would.

I think it would be sorta like the US saying it has a “national security interest” in what happens in the ME, Afghanistan et al. As well as a “humanitarian issue” with “ethnic cleansing” in Yugoslavia et al.

Was what happened in those places “legal”? Maybe, maybe not.

Does Russia have a “legitimate national security interest” in what happens in Ukraine?
Undoubtedly.

Does Russia have a legitimate “humanitarian concern” with what was happening in Ukraine?
Absolutely – even the UN agrees with Russia on what has happened there.

Is a Russian invasion of the Ukraine on the above grounds “legal”?
Maybe, maybe not.

But it is certainly at the very least hypocritical for the US (and for that matter the EU/NATO as well as Australia) to complain about what Russia is doing given their previous exploits in the above noted locations.

Klaus Schwab Tells Global Leaders to Collaborate for World Governance (31 Mar)

The time has come for world governments to unite as one and tackle global problems such as climate change, trade, and economic disruption without hinderance or delay, World Economic Forum (WEF) founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab announced Wednesday.

The unelected globalist issued his demand during a keynote speech on the opening day of the World Government Summit (WGS2022) in Dubai, saying the world can only be improved by more government cooperation at more levels.

Schwab, who called on policymakers for “a great reset” during the coronavirus pandemic, said the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” has arrived and enduring change is on the way. He outlined:

The impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution accelerates global change in a much more comprehensive and faster way than previous industrial revolutions.

Well he’s right about that – the pervasive use of technology to control and persecute dissent is unprecedented in history and is now increasingly total. Of course he’s wrong about everything else, but psychopathic maniacs never ever believe they’re wrong about anything.

Finland MP Acquitted Over ‘Insulting Homosexuals’ With Bible Verses (31 Mar)

On Wednesday, according to a report from the Catholic News Agency, the District Court of Helsinki threw out the charges against Räsänen in a 28-page ruling that determined the politician’s statements fell within the realm of free speech and stated, “it is not for the district court to interpret biblical concepts.”

The Christian Democrat MP had previously described homosexuality as a “disorder of psychosexual development,” and had posted verses from St. Paul’s letter to the Romans on Instagram while speaking on the topic of a pride parade in Helsinki.

“The Church, of which I am a member, has announced that it is the official partner of SETA Helsinki Pride 2019. How does the doctrine of the Church, the Bible, fit in with a cause in which shame and sin are elevated to pride?” she wrote.

Räsänen posted a picture of Romans 1:26-27
